It’s your voices so here bring is part two of the creating your mascot design, tutorial um, so yeah, referring obviously back in Illustrator, and I’ve also code this out. So I can just got ta. Give you guys the whole aspect, we’re talking me learning in today’s article here today. So it looks super doper. I got a nice little code scan going on. Of course, this is going to be an eagle, so I went with the white first kind of or white feathers and like the yellow, beak and like a nice little greenish, yellow gradient for like a stroke and also the eye color.

So, of course, we left often the same as I spot from last time where the line work was like this and if you guys wanted to look at that article, of course, just looking screws not below now just bring you back right to the line, we’re lighting. One babe yeah: well i’m norton article where basically, we took a picture correct and we just basically sort of like I showed you guys how to sketch it out or sort of like look for the shapes, and we came up with a nice little line.

Work here and then in today’s article, when we basically taking these line, works and just creating it into the actual mascot, so hopefully guys enjoy today’s article here, it’s date and yeah I violate. I appreciate it so very much the support from last last week’s article over like 200 X. He likes it was really really cool. I appreciate a lot. I guess you guys, like the webcam right. Here’s like seeing me.

I know, maybe it’s like that connection thing right. So hope you enjoyed today’s article and I’ll talk you in a second also. The lighting is a little weird from this article, because it’s actually a little darker outside it’s like 4:30 right now. So no we’re going to be like around the figure. Some Maggie, I did like some kind of light for like up here zone like that, but we’re okay for now. So alright.

So let’s get this thing going! Alright, let’s go! Let’s go all right, guys, let’s go and get this thing going so base. I have a really really nice little color, like hex color color scheme here, like I’m, going to give you guys off-course all these colors in the. I guess the process the article today, but for now just look: how really really nice, those colors look and they look even like better on the actual mascot.

So let’s go ahead and get this thing gone. Someone quickly just hide this and we’re going to uncheck this or basically get a nice little line, work picture here and now I believe this color here is basically the good color would like to use alright. So, like I said before, when you start off your color scheme, I would definitely like to recommend that, whatever your line, where color happens to be right, let’s just show you guys a little quick difference.

If your client work is just black, this, it’s going to be really hard for your mascot colors like really pop out and show that really nice even tone, rather than just having like a really harsh like a black line over your metal, a climber just I can Get it really quickly an explanation how I mean this is, if I just make this black look, how awkward my colors look, it might not look terrible to you, but doesn’t feel as smooth or as as just doesn’t feel it’s right.

Correct, like it just, doesn’t feel as right as this feels this. It feels like really nice and just good. So that’s I’m going to say about that. So just make sure you guys kind of find a really nice color for your line. Works actually get this thing going. So for me, I’m going to be using this hex code here, which happens to be 1 B, 1 D, 2, 1. And then it’s like a nice kind of like a blueish black tone, so that’s going to start off with this right so R.

At this very moment, I’m actually need to have my line work. I guess being a be clicked on, because we’re the first I’m going to be doing is actually creating our feather color or basically, our head color for the actual Eagle. So I’m going to do something: make a new layer right below the line work layer. Take my pen tool home write that my colors down there take our pen tool we’re just going to basically click around.

I can hide this for now. Just click around this actual face like make sure you don’t click on the inside, just like trying to follow this Anglophone like that, because the line work itself, the thickness of it it’s going to you’re, not going to see the actual colors besides, like you know, if You ever like got rid of the actual line, work right, sona, quick, let’s go around this just like so make sure I don’t try to hit in the white um.

Just basically go nice and around, as we can see it’s very simple and I just going to connect it right so for this little color here I choose this color right here, which happens to be a nice little offset white. It’s a has like some little blue tint on it as well. Just so I can match the actual black sort of blue tint. I have on the actual line work, so the hex code for this one is e v EI EI press.

Ok now this is our head card here, so you can, if you wanted to you’re, going to type and you type in head right and with them, of course, just high this layer really quick – and the second thing when I do is make another new layer and Then do the same exact thing for the beak color now I know for a fact that it’s going to be hard for guys to choose colors and the way I chose colors to what, as well as from here, is of course like like get inspiration right, google.

I don’t know like Eagle, mascot right and like find the colors that kind of worked and you’re like eyes when you see like two different colors like that and then also try to keep it like. I don’t know, the word is like anatomically correct. Is that how you say it, but like try to make sure you have like features like the nose itself, don’t make the nose purple that doesn’t really make any sense right? It’s it’s! A yellow beak right should keep it yellow or just keep it nice and like at least a example of yellow like this, is not like, like crazy, yellow ii won’t dulles, yellow right, but at the same time it’s still yellow.

It’s still like correct in a way as well, so make sure you guys don’t go crazy with colors and then try to make it so that it’s not as well as having the fur of the eagle itself like eagles, like they’re white, they have white fur. I mean, of course, my picture here is like a brown furred eagle, but I just know eagles as a Lightford, so I went for the white this time because I went for brown, but it’s kind of really hard for me like.

I know that fen likes a nice coating to use that just looks good, that’s very simple as well, so you don’t always have to find the best Brown. You can also just find like a nice offset white right. It looks good as well. So that’s my two colors right here, as you can see, looks really good so far, so well, I’m going to go ahead and do right now is before I do any of the highlights. I’m going to go ahead and show you guys how I did the quick little stroke around this actual Eagle here.

So I’m going to call this beak and then we’re going to make another logo Osumi another layer right here and we’re going to call this stroke line. So yeah, as I said before my other previous article, that if you guys looked at this line as a stroke line for like basically what’s going around your actual mascot with like the nice little color that I have and basically this one right here. Right like this blue here or this bluish greenish tone here um, that is not the sword.

Assuming this black is not the stroke line. This happens to be the actress rope line that goes around your mascot, so sometimes really hard for you to think about, because sometimes it’s like like they think of this is a stroke line. We just think it’s. This is if what they’re pen swing out? Well, that’s not actually the process right. It’s a lot different. We actually like understand what’s going on here, so I’m going to do.

Is I wan na use a stroke line layer here and I’m going to try to follow along as much as I want like as much as I can like I much much as I can right. So I’m going to follow on like over here now. The thickness of this is kind of fun. You can have a lot of fun with it. It’s like on your own. Let’s just go ahead and just like kind of follow this angle here, you’re going to see myself we’re going to see me following some angles and also just making up some item like some my own, so I’m going to do is I’m just basically like.

Let’s do something like this, but my mouse is like for some reason, weird and out right, I’ll, just follow this angle here, but besides everything is tire like same exact angle, like going all the way down going all the way going on all the way down. I’m just going to go down here right, I’m going to just make one right here and I’m just going to go all the way down here make one over here. This might be a little too far out all right, something like this, so I have to follow every single one of these, because this doesn’t really make too much sense it just.

I want it to be nice and cool and right here this angle here, let’s just make this followed all the way down here with a nice smooth transition, all trying to get this very even as possible come over here and then click just like so and then Basically, that is my little stroke line over here right now to keep it this yellow. As you know, I’m going to keep it that nice little greenish blue tint, let’s go ahead and make sure we just kind of like mess around a little bit like this angle.

Here is not falling too well here. So if you want to open your path again, just press alt on the path, it’ll open, back, open it back up and you basically click on any either like any point that you want to, and it gets really move it right. Very, very simply, these probably the student program move up a little bit so yeah, I’m not going to experiment or I’m not going to mess around too much, because that’s what I did my actual example one.

But as you can see, that’s what I’m going to go forward. That’s how I’m going to say it! It’s going to just stay like that for now, um yeah, that’s, okay, that’s alright! And so for this stroke here I basically use a gradient right. So I use a grading which is the middle actual color pickle, a color pickle, color, picker um. Besides, like this one right here right, this is your first solid color. The second one is the gradient and the last one is.

I turn it off right. So the middle one is the actual gradient, and if I want to go over here to my little gradient tab right here, you can see the colors that I use the hex code for the first color. All this like sort of green was 0 0 c. 5. 9 d and the second tone right here, my mouse is trippin out a little bit is 0 0 a 990, so just like. So I just have that nice little gradient there and it looks really really good with like a nice yellow and I sort of offset.

Why would the blue 10 on as well with also the blue tint on the black? So now I’m basically okay, I guess to start the little tread of the eye really quickly. Let’s do the eye really quickly as well, because I also matches the same color as the stroke color. So let’s go ahead, make another layer below or sees me above everything and call this the eye now. Just because I want to cheat a little bit and make sure I get it as close as house Mike on my example, we’re going to go ahead and just move that over here for a second, so I can get it so I can so what I basically Did was I kind of just made the I squinted now for me.

I probably even take this like line rehear, I’m just going to undo this really quick. So I can show you what I mean. I might even take this right here and kind of move, an experiment with this right here as well. Right, you see how, like, oh, that kind, one’s pretty good as well. Okay, see like little things like that might just make it make a look even a little better. So besides having a like a nice little loop like that cuz, I was going to make a solid full circle.

I but this time I wanted like something like this, and it looks really good with that little that little bit fix right there, maybe like the logo like all over again right. So I’m going to go ahead and do the same thing here. So I’m going to go ahead and I’m going to take my pen tool, my little eye layer, we’re going to go ahead and just click and we’re going to click and drag right to give a nice little loop here now right away, I’m just going to press On this anchor point here that has its nth extended point over here, it’s going to press on it and it’s going to obviously close it down.

So that way can just make a nice little curved one rate here right now, really quickly. We just make the code of the eye this colored here now. Let me also move this up a little bit and also drag this down a little more, so I can get a more thicker. I guess you can say, and let’s just experiment a little bit. Let’s just say like that angle: right there is okay. Now, the only difference here is that this eye has like a nice little just like straight loop, and that gives a little bit like a loop on the back inside of the eye.

So we had just been Lisa did that if I open up half up again, that’s going to basically move my handle over to the left little more. That way and get a nice little like see how that gets like a nice straight loop and then it gets really wide at the end, that’s kind of high. When I have it, you can always experiment as much as you can now. If you want, you, don’t have to have this super vivid like a dip like that, but I guess it is a little much like that.

Okay, so once I have this little thing here now, you might want to also move this up as well. So I get a nice little skinnier, so you can see how it’s like how it starts to form and how you guys kind of like understand what I went through for the process. I think that’s pretty accurate what I have over there, but for now, let’s just keep on going. So what ended up doing was right to get this little little eye thing to like actually has a little people with it.

Also, this right here is just two shapes: there’s not three shapes with this black here I just use negative space and then actually create this little eye here. So if I press L on my keyboard me up to the ellipse tool right here, if I just press li uh, simply press alt and shift wherever I click at so basically you guys don’t know if you hold shift. That, of course makes a perfect shape. Your perfect circle, or even your perfect Rex, in whatever shape you’re using on that ellipse tool, if you hold alt and also shift its going to keep it in the same exact orientation.

So this is me holding alt only instead of keeping the same exact place that I clicked at and once I hold shift as you can see, it makes it to a perfect circle. So that’s what you kind of want right here right. So I make myself a nice little circle and I’ll say like it needs to be fairly like big, something like this right. I think that’s okay, pretty good size all right, it’s close to the like left side or Susan right side, this I as possible and then basically, if I hold shift right, this layer is already selected.

This like this shape. Right here is a recent. I think if I want to just quickly click it off, if I hold shift right, you can click on this one that, in layers currently selected as you can see the outline also, if you hold shift it allows you to select multiple shapes. So I just I click on this. I shape right here that we just pencil as well, and now both these shapes our base is selected. One I end up doing now is press shift M on my keyboard, which we can do see the shape builder tool and, as you guys know from last time, if you hold alt, obviously deletes and if you hold up like, I guess, the non holding anything it Has a little plus button right next to the mouse right, so I just basically click right, as you can see like cuts it off and you just have it right there, but the reason I’m going to be using it.

It’s hold alt, while I have the shape builder tool open, and it deletes my my little shape just like so right. So I’m going to try to fix this now, a little bit more now that we have this kind of cut out, it’s not as bad. I just wanted to make sure it’s somewhat. Okay, all right now to get a little white part. Basically, what I end up doing was basically make another circle right, o shift just like so, and now I’m going to end up doing is throwing this behind.

Let’s see throwing this behind this layer here, because I’m going to make this white I’ll and just make sure I have that pretty even I’m going to make this the offset white that I have here. So if I open this layer up right here, I just have this ellipse here. I want to drag this right below that path. That way I haven’t behind it now ended up doing is taking my pen tool pen to hang out this angle here, just like so going around a little bit.

Click on that that we just created also the shape right here of the inside eye and then make sure this angle also follows there and there you guys go. We have the nice little eye here now. This is a little skinnier than this one, but of course, trial and error, fixes and stuff like that will make it look just a lot better right. I’m just going to fix this as well, because that looked pretty cool there.

We go all right sweet now. We got our eye done for that and I’m going to just basically quickly. Let’s hide this really quick move this back over to the middle, at least so we have it there again and then let’s just go ahead and do a little stroke lines now boom turn that all back on also this move over here there we go alright. So my stroke lines, I want to go ahead and say really quickly. I’m going to do this again and show you guys this one is usually when you think of highlights you think of like shadows, you always have to think of it as having it be like right here like this is offset way.

This is obviously the this highlight. Is a highlight to it? Basically, it’s oh, that was my phone. Don’t worry that was my phone with me also just quickly: okay or Wyman um anyway, let’s see so right. You have this offset weight here, and this is a white here. This is my obviously highlighted white, but forward my shadow. I didn’t actually go with like a grayish tone right now. Imagine right now, if I just undid this, and I changed this color to not the call that I have currently, but I think it was like a grayish tone which is basically like a shadowed color.

It looks okay right, but if it kind of gets rid of that nice cool, look that I had before where it feels like. I have multiple colors when I feels like I have a nice variety of colors. It doesn’t feel as just boring it away right. So what this little like, grayish tone, color just pops out all the other colors and it also obviously is a shadow because it’s the darkest color inside the actual heads like a little highlight right.

So with that being said, I what I choose your when you choose your shadow color, let’s say, but for whatever reason, let’s just make this brown for a second right, let’s just let’s we’re experimenting right now, just so I can give you guys are like an idea Right, let that’s that’s a pretty ugly brown, let’s just say like that: color right now, right and I’m going to say basically say. Usually, I would say, is if you press your eye and a keyboard rings, the actually the I like dropper tool and if you click whatever shape you’re on and then you click with the eyedropper tool on the color that you choose to.

You can select that color right. So if I want to select that brown, you can do that now. What you can do is coarse double click on this layer, color picker. While you have this obviously shaped selected. If you just bring this down a little bit, it makes it into like a shadowed color correct. So if you working with something like this was a color on top of another cup with a shadow, this is where you have to obviously experiment a lot more, but also don’t be afraid to like bring it down somewhere around here and then just see.

How that looks right now obvious looks really weird cuz. This is like that, and this is like that color. So, let’s just quickly figure out something like that right. You can see what’s starting to happen. This also colored needs to be this color. That was a little a little fix that I did great, so you can see what’s happening now right and just so I can see what happens. I make it like a full just different colors, so you can see what happens.

Let’s just make it orange. Maybe how would that look, not terrible, but it’s not that great, but let’s just let’s just say that happens right. So that’s what I say about using your shadows, don’t always make it like just a little darker. You might want to change. The color often make it like a nice obvious shadow darker cause, then the actual fur or feathers and then just kind of work with it right.

So I’m going to go back to my original color scheme. I just want to explain that really quick before actually get into it fully right, and here we go all right cool now we can hide that show all this stuff again and let’s get into the out little shadows here, right, okay, so new layer below the actual Line work but above the actual colors the solid colors is how going to your shadows, of course, right so going to make a new layer right above my B code or my head color and my stroke, color and then, of course, right below my line.

Work. Take my pen tool here and for this it’s sort of my I don’t have like a direction right. I just kind of like follow, like I’m also going to turn this off. While I do this, I was going to follow some angles here, so I’m going to. If I see an angle right here, I’m carving it’s going to go out again and they come in kind of thing. You might have to go back and fix and stuff like that, but that, of course, that’s going to come with after, like basically post of actually doing it and then trying to figure out what will look good.

What does not look great and then sort of like something like this? I might even go all the way down here. Try to change it up, just a little bit right. I probably follow this angle here right like a little indention here. It’s almost like a kind of like a you’re shadowing it you’re shadowing your line, work house I’ll, just call that for now right um. I know this whole thing by the way about how you post, like imagine, a light source correct.

Sometimes you have to think of it all the ways like that like for me, I’ve had success like selling premade stuff, like that, without the whole aspect, if they can give it as like, there’s a light source somewhere. I just put shadows on one side light on the other. That’s my simplest way to like describe it besides, thinking super hard about it and then whatever looks good to you honestly, it’s also whatever looks good to you.

Um, let’s go ahead and just say like this will just follow this angle over there’s well and then so I’m like that, and I think I stopped someone over here, my other one, so I’m going to do the same exact thing and as you can see here, It’s not, I didn’t actually do anything different anything special, I’m just going to distally cut over here and then also follow the inside of the line. Work that way, you’d have to also follow the entire outside right-click.

On this and the where’s my color scheme, it’s down here and also I know this – I just notice that it’s on still and it is which one this color right here right. So there’s my little gradient, I’m not creating color. Just my solid nice little darker color scheme for my shadow for the inside of these feathers are the Eagles feathers head right, the eagle’s head for the feathers there we go alright. So, let’s just say that looks pretty good now I can think like bring this over here as well.

Maybe a little more, I think in my actual one I actually went over here right, so I didn’t see like there’s a little trial error that has to happen, but for now let’s just keep you like that for now, and that’s all so just quickly to do A nice little shadow for this one right here on the inside of his face more and let’s just say like this, like this now, of course, I know I did this over again already so the way I picked it where I picked where I my shadows were Previously we’re just kind of like where I feel like there’s a lot of empty space at and where I feel like I needed to sort of fix it like fix a little bit of this empty space, I’m going to actually go around this way, this time and Say that looks pretty good.

Alright, okay, I’m okay with that, like the thickness as well. If your shadows want to be completely consistent, as you can see, they’re not crazy, consistent, but also gives a lot like a character, but also don’t make it very messy like right. Now I’m going back in and fixing a little bit like the angles here, make sure this angle kind of fouls on the outside with the shadow and then I’ll say this is pretty okay like so now, shadows are pretty much done like this is bothering me so Bad that I don’t actually finish it, let’s just go all the way over here right there we go cool there.

We go all right just so that can just get out the way cuz. It’s just bothered me so hard there. We go alright that’ll work, so there we go, there’s a little shadows right, that’s a shadow part and it’s going to quickly just go ahead and do a very simple, like mmm, like a very simple highlight, just get a little highlight in there right below his beak And we go around, we find a nice little beak for Sue’s a highlight color, which I think we just use solid white.

So that’s going to be right there again and then there we go for our little highlights and shadows on the actual head. So I’m going to go ahead and really quickly as well. Now it’s just finished off with a beak and it’s going to basically just use a different one. Cuz we’re going to use this from head shadows and highlights and highlights, and then we make another layer right above the beak or in below the alignment again.

And we just say I forgot where I put it on this one though, where did I put it? Okay, alright! Alright, let’s see alright, so we’re just start the same as I place again, something like right here right here, I’ll turn this off for now. Please please there we go alright, so we’re going to stuff like this we’re going to go around again and then we just go up a little bit and we’ll go below the line work here and let me take our nice little beak highlight coverage nice, a darker Color, of course, in the beak there’s going to be something like that right and then I also do a little simple it’ll highlight something like this right here.

Also my face is super yellow cuz this right here. Well, if I go to white, you see how that happens. Alright, just see you guys now umm just you can see right here like a little knoweth. How, if you have any nose, highlight give it like a little bit of a shadow. So what I’m going to do is I’m going to just basically click Ram David, nice, a nice little simple little shadow and that can like either make or break I like a little design or whatever, but it gives it just a little more just gives it that Little more or just it’s pretty cool honestly, and also when you saw me do my actual other scheme here was I made a little correction here for like the little line work, so I ended up doing was making a layer right.

I just would. I would just follow on a different angle, because if you try to fall the same angle, trying to get the same exact angle, starting in the middle like right here, if I wanted to try to start here, check out the same exact angle. No matter. What’s going to look weird, so if you’re going to do something like a little correction, just give it like a nice little centimeter or so and then correct it.

So I can make it look something like that. I also use that color there and you see this little weird part here, move it up a little bit there. We go nice little correction, there, that’s what I did in the actual uh preview as well. So as you see this little shadow here looks pretty badass. I like how that looks. Why can’t I click on it? Well, because it’s this one right, there we go, so I I’m going to pretty much say that this is our our mascot.

That’s our mascot! It’s pretty much done so. It took me like about twenty-one minutes to do this, but of course the whole asks like a thing about it. How would your clothes going to be all that kind of stuff? It’s probably not at a 20 minutes rights going to take you a couple days. Maybe it’s in case a couple hours inside the actual illustrator folder. So hopefully you guys enjoy today’s article today.

Now I’m going to put something in the description down below which it’s kind of like a color, picker kind of randomizer, and also it kind of gives you different highlights. You can see different highlights in the actual screen before you actually try to create them inside your little web color picker. Here I forgot what it’s called from the top of my head. That’s I’m going to say I’m going to leave in the description below, but hopefully you guys do enjoy today’s article here today.

Hopefully guys enjoy. Oh, like I know, I said before the whole face camp thing: I’m obviously you guys are enjoying it cuz. You guys are just killing it. You guys love it. So very much lem me just put this in a folder or one full layer to call it done and I’ll call this tutorial head eagle. I could’ve went with eagle when I went with head whatever anyway, so we can enjoy today’s article. I will talk to guys in the next week’s article.

I don’t know. What’s going to be, I think it’s going to be we’re going to go back to batter, tutorials and I’ll, probably just come back in a little design, because I’m having a lot of fun, I got a lot of interaction. It’s just it’s just all around good time. With you guys, when it comes to logo design and hopefully guys do enjoy today’s article, this definitely out beats my last. Like 911 article mine’s probably mask up stuff like that, but I’m going to I’m going to come back to this article and be like dude.

This is not as good as I thought, but right now, I’m thinking it’s really amazing, because that’s where my right now this is where I’m at right now and as he goes, if you guys got like 9 with that, like 9 months back, that’s where I was At with mask I design as Ben – and I thought that was amazing, so this progression using see. That’s why I think, like the beauty of my blog, is I just kind of show you guys the progression of where I’m at and you guys know every single thing how I think of it and what I do, and I really I appreciate that you guys that You appreciate it right, so I’m going to go, get going, it’s not too late.

I got ta go to the gym, still homely. You hope you guys are just jibing it up. They were eating really good. We’re going to take a sip of water and yeah I’ll talk to you, guys mm-hmm. He was necessary. So here’s the next article and wait you out peace, don’t forget to keep smiling stay positive and stay freakin, productive guys later.

It is invoice. Suppose you bring out the other articles here today bring us another mascot, as I tutorial health kind of article going on yet again, so I know you guys, love these articles and I’m very very happy because of course, I’ve been getting really good at math. Designing at least I feel like I’ve, I’ve been practicing a lot so yeah one thing I did not do my actual mascot designs.

Poor up, you guys have you have to see that I actually create your own mask on design, sketching the process and also like putting an illustrator stuff like that. It’s a put the link in description down below for you guys to read this very, very good article. Very informative. I really like it London to seem to like it as well. So of course, I’m going to continue so one thing I did not do, however, was actually apply.

The text and I kinda like finalized a logo away just because for me specifically doing mask. I designed one up. One thing that it could not do was the simplest part which I would feel feel like. Theoretically, think is the text, and I couldn’t just seem that actually, like, I guess, apply the text or how looks like it was still in the lowers. I like right here, the Texas – I guess, what’s in the actual logo, design that wasn’t added previously, it felt like it was added.

You know, like you know, like thought about. You know I mean, but this was just added like a nice quick little text in it. It works. I really like how I’m going to do this. I’m not sure, gets this today right here right now and I think the possible, using by the way, is built tilting, I think again so yeah. That’s normal, though, sponsoring my contact, you guys I’ll, go ahead and check that out. Article did really well, you guys are like really frickin love it.

So the guys I’ve got to see that article or I get any of these cool sauces. I’ll. Put that in stop! You in description a below as well because of course, Matt’s out designing you need cool text as well. So, okay, let’s get this thing going really quickly! I’m a point this out, so you can see the outside stroke that I have is actually a color. Now, there’s a specific reason. I do that just because I feel like one, it looks a little better.

In my opinion, you have like a black stroke, followed by a blue or, if he’s not blue, but a color stroke on the outside on the farther outside. Just because it kind of makes your text your text look a little bit better. In my opinion, now what I mean by that is whatever is inside, whatever colors are inside. Your actual mask are right. I have like Grey’s blues white within my mask a design and I have way on the outside.

But then, if I love white on the outside – and it would just kind of be like weird – I feel like a black stroke on the outside completely surrounding your mascot design will look like really good like it would just kind of like finish it all, and then, If you add it, your color of layer of using an extra layer of color, excuse me and then it would just kind of like fill the actual actual logo even more and then, when you fight text, it’s like this is what it looks like right without it.

So without detectives kind of looks like it looks good right, but if I add like the color on the outside and then I add the actual text, there’s just something that just looks really good. Of course, when you actually add in the text with the color in the background, so it’s the reason why I said is it because if you had like the middle here – and this is a color of blue – let’s get this with blue right.

Your text was white. Let’s just say this was white right, but then your sugar, the outside, was black as well. It would kind of look very, very messy or very, very bland. It will kind of look empty and that’s why I want to like. Let you guys know if you use two different strokes on the outside for your like your finalization um. It just looks good in my opinion. I know you guys will figure it out yourselves.

I know you guys will figure out your your specifics. Your your preferences. This is just like I’m kinda, like my preference, so I’ll just you guys do that before I start just because I want to you know if you want to get it to look exactly or at least remotely closer, structurally close as mine. That is probably one of the one of the reasons why it does not look like mine in like the retrospective, like um, the text looking like it actually was in the lower design.

So hope you guys understood that little explanation and let’s just get this thing going. If you hear my chair scooch, I am sorry, I guess it’s time for me to get a new. I think I need to just like buy a good chair like I have to stop buying those like semi are staple chairs. There’s the thing um! Okay! So I’m going to delete that and when I get this thing going so the first thing you don’t want to do.

Of course, let’s do make a back plate surrounding you know secondary color of a color on the background, so on the background of this logo here right, so I’m going to do now. Let’s take my completely done: logo design, my mascot design, McEachern logo, mascot design. Here I’m going to hold alt while I’m holding alt I’m going left click and then drag this below. So I’m a drag whatever I’m selecting this load this layer here right below this other layer.

This will make a duplicate for me within illustrator. You can do that or you can go ahead and pick the actual layer, throw it into the new page and that’ll also make a duplicate as well. So whatever works for you, it’s all good either both of them do the same exact thing possible. With this one. You’re going to do with the duplicated one you’re going to go to select the target layer, which is a circle here.

This will select everything within this folder everything Simmons layer, and that way you can move it do ever with it. So we’re going to do is we’re going to combine them all that way. This entire shape did you guys see here, is actually going to be completely filled or assuming completely like yeah basically filled without. Actually, you know having a pencil out the outside or pick out which layer is only far outside nope.

You can just basically take the entire thing. Select it go to windows task finder. What the path I’m going to do is give you guys this option. It says sheet modes right and one of the options, the first one is actually unite. So, as you can imagine, it connects all the actual sectors within the actual layer, like I said just like so when I click it, I’m a Dragonslayer out because every other layer is empty.

Just so you’re not going to get a little easier and you can see this layer right here now is just one solid, basic layer of like the entire thing on the outside, so that works perfectly for me and I’m very happy with the outcome. So that’s what I’m going to use my actual stroke on the outside now to apply the stroke, of course you’re going to want, of course, with the actual color of the year. Your your secondary color, whatever color left on the outside, and you put that on your stroke, you’re, going to turn off your filled, which is this one right here.

The first one, the one of the foreground kind of you turn that off by just clicking on none one of your stroke here, click on the show, color double garnet, and they would apply that color, like I said before, to the actual stroke, which is just nice Little blue that I got going on here and then you want to make sure you have your stroke, cable, actually up as well we’re going to windows, stroke and you’re going to make sure this is open right.

So for your alignment, shoke you’re, going to put this on the outside now the first one is centered. The second will go to the inside and the last one’s going to be outside of the liner stroke. So one make sure you click on that one, because we’re going to basically mean your your stroke is going to go only farther outside of this path. Here we’re going to be more quicker one, of course, when you put your weight up here, randoms kind of Sisyphus because already know I kind of want it at 50 or not 30.

I think ah see I think it was yep so 50. So you can see us in the outside the stroke on the outside. It wasn’t me inside. Well, you won’t be able to see it. It goes in the center. Well, you got ta put your while your your points of a lot more just because it’s actually shared. It’s kind of sharing the actual the width between the outside and the inside. That’s all I put on the outside and you can see it’s really big now, because these points are still big, cuz it’s on 50, and you can see that if I put this on 50, just like so now, it’s just on the outside looks good.

It looks clean and then we’re good to go so that just wan na make sure you guys understood that okay, not the best in illustrator, what not obviously yeah. Once you have this you’re, pretty good you’re going to make a new layer above everything, so click new layer. Take your text tool which is basically T on your keyboard right for the shortcut, and I would have put it around 500 – is pretty good.

And for me, I’m in a 4k by 4k document size, so my points might be bigger or smaller, depending on what your document size is yourself, I’m going to go ahead and put it in what is the word twist right? I believe the font that I use for this was built, something like I said previously. It’s the bolded one though, and I’m going to go ahead and just put this right here now. The cool thing about my example was, if you guys remember it, I actually have my looking like a had like a little bulge or like arcs and stuff like that.

Basically, you can do the same exact thing. It’s the same exact tool, I believe, is within Photoshop. I don’t know what it’s called a cut like a wrap to look like that. I believe, but the same thing follows here right: the envelope tool. I think that’s what’s called a Photoshop as well, so you want to click this right, make envelopes and answer these different styles. You can actually apply it to your actual text, now lower arch, pretty much does what this is like kind of gives, like almost like a shield.

Look it kind of like makes it a little bit like urban copper. Like a lot more on the bottom side, you can keep going for you, put the bend up, see once you can see you can make it really dramatic. I can do the same thing with something like bulge. You can make it bulge towards you right, that’s pretty good! If I wouldn’t do it so dramatic we’re going to do that, I would say: keep between either negative 15 or positive 15.

Just because that’s not incredibly terrible, as I’m looking pretty like kind of sloppy in the way you don’t immediate, if I put up maybe 10 %, that’s pretty good yep, but the what I want to do is actually. I want to do bold if I want to make a negative that way actually goes towards the inside. You see it came toward me. Look I put toward the negative side. You can actually go. You know farther back and I love this one just because it looks best.

In my opinion, it’s just kind of like preferred one, so we put negative or what is it? I’m just going to put a negative, intense, prettier negative 11, whatever that’s pretty good right awesome. So you can see it does like that. Look nice little simple bulge towards the like further away from us, so this looks really good. I’m happy with this and I well. Let me do now, so I make a duplicate of this actually right now so i’ma hold alt like I did before, and because they put all the way on the bottom and we’re going to keep on the bottom.

For now, I’m a whole or Suzy hide the top layer here, which is our top texts. Now, I’m going to bottom one now quickly just make this a object, so I’m go to objects, go to expand and it will see these two things here. It’s going to span, object and fill admission. Those both filled or clicks, easily check press, ok, and this will make it into like a basic will she’s like basically it’ll, make make it into a basic shape and which means like you can have like move either one.

If you want to so, if you want to get creative and stuff like that, you can um, but for this I’m going to turn off the fill turn on the stroke. Take my stroke put the same color on so basis. The same thing I’m doing on the outside of this I’m doing this in the text so outside the stroke, the line and I’m going to go to here put about 30. I think right, that’s a pretty good amount and I’m down for that.

So basically, we’ve completed the the issue of you know applying all the strokes in the background. So you don’t don’t worry about that too much anymore realistically, now can be happening, is kind of like editing the text to make sure it looks. You know good, but we’re actually not completely done. You can see these little inside here, you’re going to have to actually fix that manually. If you have a text.

That, of course, has you know more spaced out actual you know, letters in their text or in their fonts will quickly turn this back on now to make this also white and well, I’m just going to actually go ahead and get so the object as well, because Why the hell not – and I’m going to make this white and okay so basically to fix this. This ring here this back one. So you have no more like white space because we want to make sure it’s actually completely filled in.

So what you don’t want to do is going to manually. Do it yourself, so click a new layer right above that layer, I’m a bill. Click in use my pen, switches of the press p.M. If you go through the actual shortcut and it’s this tool right here and you’re just going to have to basically be pretty far in find out where this actual point ends over there and, of course, click over. Here, click and drag because this in art, now I’m going to take this point, I’m a hole, control! I’m going to hold this move this toward here and imma, say to myself once it’s pretty good, like you know, what’s pretty good ring, and this is okay, I know it’s not going to be complete long term.

That’s not really quick. I always have to be completely perfect, as this is an S now. However, the X does go below everything, so kind of like makes sense, but what I want to do is I’m going to make sure that I will click all the way around. If I cover this white space, I’m going to go around this white space right, I’m going to make sure I get this right here. I’ll make sure I get this little right here, which is.

Why are the W scuse me and the spacing between the T and the WI make sure I completely feel that as well now, I’m going to click it put it back on the field. Now I’m going to change my fill color by the way. What I’m doing the selected colors I’m using my eyedropper tool, I already have a color here, like blue white black at all, filled colors and that stroke color. So I’m going to click this or not that one okay, this one right here actually completely fills in the color, with the same exact color and the same exact fill cap as if I don’t have a keynote go into here and then Manley put the color back In I can just kind of pick a color from my mascot design and there we go so I can see now it fills in the space, and that is what you guys want.

So basically they have. You know this empty space, which looks kind of weird and does not look clean, and if you click this you can see now we actually apply the you know additional shape to it. So it fills in the actual space and it looks good now the fit again to do again, one more time toward the actual top layer. This is actually our top text. Just for you guys know if it’s white, you won’t be able to see in the thumbnail.

We’re going to make a new kind of this one we’re going to go ahead and apply the stroke to it and we’re going to apply the same stroke as this one right here, but I’m of course, I’m not make it a lot lower like 25, maybe um 25 is pretty good, but it’s on the outside, there’s not on the outside, so I’m actually make it a little less. Maybe like what do you guys think? Like 17? I think that’s pretty good, so we have to just same exact thing for this from right here.

So, let’s do that right now, so click on this end, click on this and click and drag make sure you know make an arc for yourself and then the whole control flip. This extended point here and then make sure you kind of go through once again right, see, there’s no spaces a lot more empty space here, so I actually have to make sure I go through it in D entire thing: there we go. I kind of like this made my own little path going through and then basically just like so fill it in and there we go fill it, of course, with the same exact color, and let me get something like this now.

If you guys, once you can do the same thing on the top layer, as we see this it’s empty here as well to mess it make another new layer and then do the same thing on the top, because I wanted to make sure there’s no empty spaces. Space here and there space here we want to get rid of that. We don’t want to make sure you want to make sure it’s completely beautiful and looks good and everyone’s happy just like so, and when I kind of just go through it right and then make sure you fill that in so I filled in.

Was this part right here? You can see right so now we’re pretty much almost done at the same point. We actually are done. What you can do is kinda, like you know, since we did actually make this into a object, our actual text into an object and no longer one like you know, kind of text path. You can actually click on multiple letters and then chase kids, like said whatever color, you guys want and then you’re pretty much set in stone, you’re really good to go, so they ever want to like go back into it.

Kind of like make strokes, bigger and whatnot. If you guys want to make it, you know, the blue show cumin. You want to make it bigger because to like say for you, you just want to click on it. Click on the target circle, click on the stroke and just make it go up. Fàbregas me you’re going to actually have to fix that thing you did here. These are probably like kind of like make it big with ctrl T or command here whatever or not ctrl keys, ctrl T avocado fix us again.

Just because you know you want to make sure it’s still good and I’ll, you know nice and going to evenly right, so you want to make that bigger as well. I probably have to make this one bigger as well. Ah, where is it? Is it this one? No, it’s definitely: where is it it’s in here? Isn’t it know where to go this one right here boom and make this a little dollar thicker? So it’s just kinda like a thing and we’re going to take this and kind of drag these back down, and it’s just it just depends what you guys want to do.

So I kind of didn’t like it, because it’s too thin for me, so others have fixed to show and then fix. Of course, these two things up here as well, all the other like extended like filled tasks or the filled shapes that way, we’re looking good and all that cool stuff, and basically, once you’re done, you said you’re satisfied. This looks really good and it looks like the texts also applied to the actual map that design.

So hopefully I explained as best as I could, because it was wasn’t. That was really really show. Look. I don’t know why I struggle with it. So I said you to myself this probably looking lot there who struggles with it, so I’m actually the article on it and I hope you guys enjoyed. I really really do a thing guys so much by the way for enjoying these logo design tutorials. I haven’t really enjoyed them.

Also, after-effects like I’ve been really I’ve been trying to push. As you can see, I kind of live in using After Effects and my articles, not Sony Vegas, so hope you guys enjoy I’m literally trying to super harder, they’re. So much less important. Lately I mean like 50 subscribers daily, it’s really frickin beautiful. I love you guys so friggin much, please freakin, keep smile and stay positive and stay productive guys.

I will talk to you guys later so though hql peace, god is so beautiful.

Illustrator Tutorial: Creating a Mascot Logo Design in 3 Shapes

  • No Comments on Illustrator Tutorial: Creating a Mascot Logo Design in 3 Shapes

So recently, if I take an interest to sort of like figuring out a different technique on how to create mask a logo designs, as there is millions and millions out there, I’m sure, and if your mascot designer that I’m sure you go, you also have your own Current style to it, so I usually always, I think, the past two articles on how we’re like Symetra designs – and you know pretty much how to sketch and stuff like that.

So, of course, today’s article cheat, I’m just you – have a sketch and pretty much illustrate your mascot designs in like three simple, easy shapes, and I believe this way of processing it or like understanding your like sort of introducing you to mask a design mask out low Designs, if you choose to you, know kind of forward yourself into that, you know kind of category of design. It’s really really crucial for you to really figure out all these different techniques, because it’ll really help you like settle with your spouse.

So i’ma teach you guys that today so of course have a song with a sketch and I’ll throw the sketch into illustrator and it’ll. Really quickly illustrate it and I have to be really fun very simple, so hope you guys enjoy and let’s get this frickin thing going so, of course, to like on the article because a secret down below which I’m not sure some be yet. But maybe a know me I’ll figure it out when it’s time so whole thing is, do enjoy and, of course, if you guys want more tutorials, please just let me know leave a like on the article and all that cool stuff and yeah.

Let’s just get it just just get this thing done, alright, guys so pretty much myself with this sketch right. So I have a lion like roaring on my screen right now. I do also have this pre sketched out. So yes can just like sort of relax and understand where the I guess the direction is going, but I really want to show you guys really quickly what I’m looking for when I actually sketch out my mascot design.

So if we were to look at this, let’s say this: one entire shape right here was like number one, and then the next shape would be number two and then our next shape on the outside actually be number three. When it comes to how many shapes are there to kind of create your base to like creating an actual mascot design so right here, I’m looking at a picture and I’m just going to basically make sure I believe the most crucial thing about this.

If you trying to use a sort of technique, or even like like trying to figure out how to do a mascot, a logo design, try to make your, I guess you’re number three or Susan you’re number one shape is like, is, I guess, direct as possible to Make sure that it’s the animal that you choose so for me, I think starting off with the actual hair and the outside sort of like the easiest way for me to actually say that or to do that for, like the whole lion thing now, if I won, I probably had like went a little further out or whatever I put them more so kind of like a little stroke, pins or wherever you want to call them um just going to go ahead and just like so sketch this out now.

I already know, like I said I already have it planned out sketched already, but pretty much. I want to show you guys what I mean by sketching out a shape that kind of like make sure wars or make sure that you kind of have this like. How do you say this animal shaped out the way that you believe that animal looks on the outside, like if you were just thinking of a shadow for a shape for an animal? That’s pretty much! What you’re doing here and we’re just going to go ahead and move that up like this, we’ll move this like so, let’s just make that go all the way that way for now and then I’m using I’m moving my favor a lot.

I know, but I just won’t show you guys so this like black outline, is stroke. This will be one entire thing. That’s filled in so this just imagine this as if it was filled in all the way. So if you can imagine that you just know that this is going to be that black part, that’s on the outside number. Two right here will be whatever for that primary call that you choose to use, so this her to be the primary color.

But for me I just want to pretty much make sure make sure guys also use negative space in my pre sketch. You can see this little triangle here and if you see my picture that I have above or ever I have it in, like the article y’all. Probably you’ll see it somewhere arm. You see little triangle here, I’m going to use it as like a negative space sort of. So in my example, I can probably have right – or this is me in my sketch I’ll – have this like something like this like over here.

Then going up this way, I’m going to pretty much trace this. What I have over here again, so I’m making sure I keep this little like these little spiky things going on here, because that’s kind of illustrate – or I guess I would say – you’re you’re, pretty much matching that it’s pretty much hair right. So this is what I want to make sure I do. This little part will be his little ear. It’s pretty smaller.

It can be mess around with just we’re going to keep on going with. It, though, go ahead, and do something like this. Something like that and let’s just say we do something like this this time I don’t know we’ll figure that out when the time comes, but there we go right. So I basically did my little site, like my little sketch on the inside so, like I said guys, make sure you guys understand that the like the best and most like focus shape you should be focused on, would be number number one right.

The one that’s on the back and then pretty much it’s going to completely either make or break what you want to have so for me. I also usually do basket designs when I sketch them out. I was just like symmetrical thing where I have like that. The I go in the hair going or whatever and then like the nose or whatever it’s going on. I usually have that symmetrical, but symmetrical logos are not like. I want to stop doing those.

I want to sort of branch myself out or like learn more and like I said I found this like really cool little technique. I’ve seen people do it, I’m, like you know what like, why not give it a try, so pretty much what you do on the inside for that one like number two shape here. You just want to figure out like negative space like this right here is going to be his mouth areas, or your teeth will be and stuff like that on.

This is where his nose can be, if you even want to, would you put like a little triangle here as well, see like that’s where the nose is going to go, but this little negative space here is the nose is so space here, so the mouth and Teeth and so you just want to make sure you have that back shape and it really like generalizes, the actual animal that you choose right and then that’s for the eye. I’m going to go ahead and just say the generic sort of like circle shape whoa.

I’m sure you have this in Illustrator as well, but go some like this. Just something like that for now I’ll just say: that’s the eye. You can work with it for now. Let’s just let it go. Oh that’s the eye for now, but basically I want to let you guys know that is. It is almost. Is this easy right here to set yourself? Will you had a pre sketch like what did you do before that? I looked at the picture and I pretty much said exactly.

I pretty much is exactly the same thing. I didn’t take much time on the pre sketch at all. I started to make sure that I have a certain direction and also that you can see what I was talking about before. I even finished it so that right here this so just really really quickly like review it. This number one will be that one back shade. That’s going to be solid color, and it’s going to that. Your one base color shape that’s going to be on the outside right, and the number three like I said by the way, is basically that stroke is going to be on the outside.

Like so there’s going to be a stroke on the outside, it looks something like this right, something like that all right. Let’s just say this is the stroke and this stroke is that number that number three shapes or this stroke all the way around that number three shades that’ll, be that nice little gradient color, whatever the color you choose to be on the outside, and the number of Two here is that one shape, like I said I kind of defined like define.

Scuse me, the animal is well on the inside, so he was going to you. Don’t want have to fill the entire thing like, usually I would say to myself all right. I have to make sure I got to go outside here over here like trace all the way around, but if you just kind of focus on just the main parts, I guess to the actual mascot design itself, then you’re pretty much in there. So hopefully that makes you like it helps you understand just as much like I’m looking at the picture.

Right now is well. I probably like make this go out like this way more, but it’s all it’s all just like the sketch is not always going to be. What your outcomes going to be, obviously, like I myself, I’m a prime example of that, so this sketch it’s we’re going to change out. I’m probably going to make this like I’m going to actually put these in here, make those arrows come out more this way. I want this to come out more that way.

I want to actually, of course, fix this, of course fix my eye. We’re going to get smaller as well, probably small and push it up so use arrows. Use your sketch, however, just know that your sketch is not going to illustrate what your product is probably going to be. It can give you a generalized idea, because once you put everything in Illustrator and start going to smooth lines and sort of like what you’re looking for this will be totally easy.

And if I find this method, just really really cool. And this way of thinking about it just a lot easier. So hopefully I helped you guys out and like I guess, starting out you’re your mascot, because you might be like I feel like I can do this by. I just don’t know where to start. Hopefully, this will help you guys out, so I’m going to go ahead and take a picture of this, I’m going to email to myself and I’m going to throw it into illustrator and then we’re going to go from there.

So hope you guys enjoyed that and yeah see you in a second alright guys. So I went ahead and I threw in the sketch into illustrator. We are in illustrator CC 2017 and so pretty much I’m just going to go ahead and start this thing off. So, of course, we’re going to start off with a new layer and the first shape that we’re going to be focusing on is number one, the one that has little stripes through it, and I told you guys that was the back plate.

That was like the bones of the actual mascot, the bones. Really, I couldn’t think of any of the word. Okay, so just a quick little rundown, of course, I’m using the pen tool in order to create our nice paths. Now, if you guys don’t know, there’s a fill tap right and there is a stroke crown which is located right here. I have it turned off at the moment. Turn your stroke pack off. You only have to do.

Is choke pack stroke path off? Maybe just click on this little red line going through where it says, none that will turn it off and I’m going to also turn off my fill as well just for now, because I don’t need to see what’s in the inside eye thing like that, I see Well, I see which is just the stroke line right here right, so I’m going to go ahead like I said I focus on this number three or see me number one down here up here, no over here in this location, so I’m going to go ahead and Start pissing off right over here and we’re going to go ahead and is go for it.

So if you guys don’t know if click and drag will just give you guys neck so arch. So if I click once right, if I just click once it’s not going to give me any sort of twists or turns or shape like you know, I can’t actually turn the shape or curve the shape. So what I want to do is I want to click and I’m going to drag my mouse toward, like. I guess the bottle up to my mouse pad to give myself a nice curve that will curve me more to left hand side but also giving that nice sort of, like, I guess moon shapes kind of curve going on right.

So if you guys don’t know already, if you were to simply click on the anchor on your pen tool just like so it will create a new kind of anchor, which is basically, if I just want show you guys like wiggle. If I click over here, I’m trying to move this over here, this would have on a curb on this side, because this extended curve, this little anchor point here – is still a secondary sort of, I guess anchor, where it’s kind of showing you guys.

If I were to click over here, it would curve pretty much halfway through here as well right. So, as you can see, so I just click on the anchor. This will reset that, and I just click and drag again without the unnecessary curve on the outside or following these extended flights here. So I’m going to continue now going on and it’s going to continue doing the same exact thing. You know I have this there just like I’m sort of following my uh, my sketch a little bit, but I’m also following what I want to do as well.

Some like this, and I’m just going to make this one go in more because why not and I’ll make this come like that, and then I could do so break here and I believe this house is going to go like that. Yeah, okay and then we’ll do this one like this yep, okay and then this here, I’m going to bring it in like so, and also this curve right here is almost like a little S curve, so the others never s curves.

I was talking about that when I do like curves for like color correction stuff, like that so nigga s curve, i’ma click drag correct and if I just click right up here, this will give me a very, very simple S curve. That’s exactly what I want. So if you guys do not know already, if you extend this more over here, you would get more of a curve. So let’s say if my curve is like, oh like how like how you see it with a green line right now, I can extend that as well.

So if I click again right where I want to have that, I can even just hold alt ctrl click on this handle. Here I call the extended point: what it’s called handle shirt and I’m a click and just drag this back in toward the actual center path. Here or ZZ set our anchor here and I’ll. Give me my curve that I want back as well, so it’s very easy to make curves like that as well, so this curve right here, I’m going to simply actually I’ll do that what multiple just like! So I move this curve like that there we go and I give myself those nice little teeth now, I’m probably not going to be doing all the whole teeth thing anything like that, but I want to make sure you guys get the base.

I guess I guess the the basic of the thing shirt we’re going to go with that um we’re going to go ahead and just do something like this and then we’re going to go ahead and just come up here and I might actually start putting in some. Some little curves in because I don’t want to just have it very just bland like that on the top, so I’m going to go ahead, just add in my own little stuff. So I already told you guys the sketch is probably not going to be exactly how I want it to be, but this right here I’m going to go and just turn on my fill down and put this on a nice colored Levi how to color before right.

Here this nice little black here so I want to go in just add myself lay of nice little. You know two little spikes on top as well. Simplify you say imply hair there we go so right now at this very moment. The whole point of what I was saying before is number one, which is this first shape that we’re doing is to make sure you make this shape as memorable or Susie as memorable or as or as what is the word, I’m looking for as uh as accurate.

We’re just going to go accurate as the Amba you choose like me, like you, can see a line in here a little bit right. It’s not like a bunny, it isn’t like a bear. It kinda looks like a dragon’s the moment, but you add you get the the bare bones of what the shape course is with the animal you have with the shape so make sure this right here. The sketched out number one spot in the Sketchup. Excuse me number one shape.

This is the shape. This is the path that you want to make sure is perfect and great and good, because the inside can always be messed around with the outside. You want to make sure you have that sort of bear bone like base shape, so that’s that first part of the sketch. So if you want to down and put my sketch above this black path here sees me this black shape and there’s a low, my pasady on the sketch and there we go I’ll lock this back up just right again: okay, so now above my layer, three, which I’m going to call this number one.

This is the first shape line. It’s called a shape. Number one right, I’m going to make a new layer is going to be shape. Number two shape number two: that’s a dollar sign go boom, all right shape, number two. So the shape number two, like I said, is right here right. So this all this right here is shape number two. So I’m going to go ahead and start off rate here. I guess now we’re going to go for it so, like I said this is like a little ear now we can always go back and sort of mess around this and sort of fix things like I said this is just the sketch.

This is just your first attempt. You’ll have so many variations, and I got myself on my logo designs. I usually take maybe like three days on them – maybe a couple hours here, they’re on each day, just because I want to do it for like premium stuff like that. So I know it takes a long time to get that file perfect sort of like look that I’m looking for. Let’s see other one here and truthfully, it’s not like something that you can probably do in like one second, so understand that there is going to be a like a learning curve.

Scuse me, but it’s I swear to you. It’s not it’s not as hard as it might look and even like I’m saying this and I’m not the best myself. But I know in my heart that I’m going to get good as long as I keep trying right. So I’m going to go ahead and just I’m going to add another curve in there. Why the hell not something like that, or even oh, how about this after this curve? There is something like this and then almost straighten this thing out now we can just go straight into there.

I don’t know we’ll see. I can always measure out this more I’ll move that around for now, if you guys not know like, I just always hold control. We want to move a point. I think I want to move, you can click on by holding ctrl just so you guys know, and I’m going to do something like this, and this is the little nose part that I was talking about. Let’s just do that and then we’ll come in here, just like so all right and then we’ll do this last two little or Sunni, three, a little little spike to the top, which is indicates his hair right and do some like so and then connect it after This one right here, all right so very simple right this is the shape number two I’m going to just connect it now right so for shape.

Number two I’m going to have this color here, I’m going to turn off this as well, so now shape number two has something like this. So, as I said before, this cheat number two is pretty much the part where you want to get the onliest the essentials. Basically, inside of his his head, basically right, I’m also going to measure off this a little bit. I want to move this little further down. This way, try to feel some more space, um that’ll.

Do my something like that right. I think it looks a little bit better and I can mess around with that as much as I want, but I want to move this as well right. I already got some things coming in my mind that I want to do. I want to also move this little further back. It’s too close to that nice, not with the curve a little bit. I think it looks pretty good so right now else is I got talking about the negative spaces area so right here where this nose is supposed to be right.

I want to make sure I have that space looking very, very accurate to what you would suggest that there’s a nose also in here right. So if you zoom in backwards to me, if I zoom out you’ll, see it zoom in backwards. Hello, if I zoom out you’ll, see there’s like a nose shape there and there’s also empty space for the mouth here, um, which I might not be doing, because I have a lot of trouble with mouths, but I can get you some.

I like some. I like design something like that right, so let’s go ahead and just focus on the eye really quick. So actually this is number four places the first shape right. This is the second shape. Let me just do the third shape for now right, so the third shape is actually go on the bottom. However, so this is shape number three and shape number three after the number three I’m going to quickly do.

Is I’m going to go to shade number one again, I’m going to click on the actual shape with my actual directional tool right, I’m going to turn on a stroke for a second I’m going to put a gradient on, because I can, let’s just put on a Green, let’s just choose any colors for now. We just want to see what the colors are and I’m going to stroke here right here, let’s table and just put on my width up my height scuse me and we’re just going to go ahead and make sure we’re sensor on the outside correct and, I would Say to myself I think this size stroke is pretty good, so I’m going to take that into account I’ll hide everything else or lock everything else and go to shape.

Number three click and I’m going to go ahead and now to start off from here and I’m pretty much going to make sure I follow these basic love. It excuse me, let’s turn this off, make sure you follow this stroke on the outside. Just to make sure I have the same width but just understand it, you can do whatever the heck. You guys why I like realistically, should be here if you want to keep it completely like symmetrical to what’s going on the inside.

However, I want to put it there because I feel like it. What I always get the width and make sure I have like them with maintained around the entire actual logo, doesn’t look really weird, that the wicks are different with the strokes. But if you want to put different stroke widths in different areas, go for it like it does not matter. It’s your design right. So I’m going to go ahead and just quickly go on the route outside of this and make sure we got that.

Looking pretty okay, there we go so now when I just really quickly click on the stroke again and I’m going to head to put in that code that I want right here. This is a nice little gradient, I’m going to go to back to shape number one and then turn off the stroke here, because I have the stroke now in the back and there we go right. So this whole tutorial is all about making the mask out in three shapes.

Really this right here is the bear boat. It’s literally, you can see the line. You can see the Stroh’s you can see the inside of the actual. You know the different features that is going to have so realistic. I can stop here, but I wan na quickly show you guys what whole like the whole eye situation there, but just know that these three shapes is what’s going to really make the actual mascot correct.

So, of course, there’s eyes there’s different like I can do something like on the inside here. If I wanted to, let’s just do something right now. I want follow this angle here, make a nice little curve there right. If I want to have some more color on the inside, if I choose so do something like this and then just connect it like, so I can’t swim like that and then just use the stroke. This blue here come like that.

Going on to indicate you yet again, more hair going that way. So that’s just one of the little little thing I can do as well as like. Maybe like this. I don’t know, let’s just uh, my mouse is tripping. Oh God, there we go. I think I caught it. I think. Oh okay, we’re good! Alright, do something like that and then so. I’m like this right and that’ll indicate like a little nose right there right, okay, looking good so far, so really quickly! I’m not sure you guys this whole eye situation, um, not my best eye, but I’m going to go for it.

We’re going to call this with this. What is just add on right, I’ll, lock that really quickly now we’re going to make the eye so the way I usually make my eye was just basically like a honeycomb like a half circle right, I’m going to turn this off for a second, so nice little Half circles: just you know, click drag make a nice little simple, like little smiley face going on there and then just click and then drag towards.

So I want to have like a more fatter area towards the face right here. I guess the right size of face and pretty much that’s that I’m going to fill this in with a black right expose. It was black now what I’m going to do now is I’m going to go ahead and okay, we’ll go with it for analysis. It’s just the whole tour purposes thing, so I’m Prince Li keyboard. It gives me the ellipse tool right. That’s what I want the ellipse tool I’m going to make.

It basically make a perfect circle by holding alt and shift clicking images dragon right. So with this perfect circle, I’m going to take this perfect circle and just bring this like right around here where the eye is, I’m a should click on both of these actual shapes. Now I can basically I’m clicked on both of them. If I press shift M, which is the shortcut for the shape builder tool, I’m going to go ahead and click on the inside, where this little plus button is it’s going to be a plus button? If you held alt, this will actually get rid of different shapes, but what I want to do is I wan na make sure this is a shape.

That’s cut out of the two shapes that is made, which was the circle and now that’s a shapes. I’m a click just like so now that I basically have two different parts: I’m going to have this little like it’s going to be your eyelid or our Susan II, our iris, and this part right here, is going to be like that filled like white spot. What is that called oval or biology? Okay? So I’m going to go ahead and fill this.

Excuse me make this white I’m going to go ahead and make sure I put this white O shape below my black eye shape and I’m just going to go ahead and move this just like. So we can mess around this as much as we want, but I want to make sure you guys get the point uh something like round, there’s pretty good for now. So that’s that right there right – oh god, okay, let’s just uh, put on that angle and then we’ll do that for now.

Okay! So now for this part here, this looks I’m going to put this on the bottom. I make a new layer on the bottom of the pass here and I’ll. Take my pen tool, I’m going to go ahead and just like click drag click. I’m not going to follow this exactly like that, and this is going to be like another like piece around. His eye that just makes it look cool, ah like some like this, like that and then I’ll get rid of that and fix this like that, um, okay, that looks okay, I’m going to give her this little sketch thing now and I’m going to make this outside.

Actually going to make this outside black and this blue, there we go okay, so I’m going to shrink this down a bit first, this right and we’ll mess about this and shrink this all together. That way, it’s not ginormous and put it somewhere around there. I think that’s pretty good, so really I can go a lot further than this. I might even mess around since or like the whole final image thing, or sees me like to begin the article like what you’re going to be learning today in today’s tutorial, whatever what I want to at least show you guys and like really like, illustrate how easy It is to sort of start your mascot design, I’m not saying that kind of as it easy I’m not saying that I’m great at them or good at that, or anything like that.
