Role Of SEO In Digital Marketing

So a couple Things that we’ve been doing is we just sit down. We open up a recorder on our Laptop or a recording app and I interview the clients on a concept So Let’s say I’m going to interview a client on keyword, research tools, I pull Up in Google Keyword research tools, I’ve got it right in front of me and I start Asking questions of the person who I’m interviewing Now remember: I’m recording This the whole time Between 3 & 5 minutes, we’ll give you about 900 words.

Now this is really important, because now, in less than 10 minutes I’ve been able To get a 900 word document from you, the thought leader, And then I take it to a Transcription service, like rev, R-E-V, dot com And I have it transcribed And within Minutes I get the transcription of the audio, Then we take that content and we Send it off to our social media, people, our bloggers and our podcast or whatever We want to use that to distribute it, Take an ownership of that piece because That’s what your expertise is, Then we’re looking at a digital marketing strategy.

You say: “, Okay, guys, Here’s my one piece.”! So then your social media company slices And dices that into social media posts or Instagram stories, Then that same Piece gets written up in a blog with images, Then that same piece becomes a Topic for your podcast, and you talk about that with an expert in the Industry, So I don’t want you to think about “ How many different things do I Have to do?”, I want you think about being a thought leader on one topic And then You give that to the vendors in your life, your social media, your You’re content, writers, Let them take it and repurpose it like crazy, A good Digital marketing strategy has to start with an excellent piece of content And Then, once you record yourself, you could be driving to work, You could be.

I don’t Know on your own at home, and you just want to dictate or walk around the Apartment or walk around your office Have a sticky note with 3 or 4 Keyword ideas And just talk about them for 5 to 6 minutes You’re going to get A ton of content: have it transcribed then hand it off to the vendors in your Life, This is what you should be focusing on from a digital marketing: strategist. You are the expert, you are the professor, Take the time to pick one concept that You’re, an expert in and record yourself, Then let the experts in your life figure Out how to slice-and-dice it repurpose it so that you can get everyone on every Social media blog – That is a real digital strategy based on search engine Optimization key words that you want to be findable for, But then you take your Vision, your voice is an expert and you create the content that matters.

That’s What turns a digital marketing strategy into something that works and something That falls flat. Do it right? Top Digital Marketing Tools

I love a tool. Just give me give me Give me I love tools, So I’m going to show you my favorite tools, There’s a lot but I’r going to show you 4 today that I think are critical to any business. Owners, digital life, First of all, with graphics, I have a graphic arts degree. From Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design here in Colorado, And if I never Went into Photoshop again, I would be just fine because it takes so long Like I’d go in to make one graphic and I’d like three hours: I’d come out of there.

With my eyes kind of like hurting me – And I had one graphic done So – I’ve stopped Using Photoshop Love you Photoshop, but no more Look at my screen here. I use a Tool called Canva, So it’s like canvas without the S. And boy. This has been a Lifesaver for me, I can nerd out on this tool all day long. So here’s what I do. Just to kind of pull back the curtain is I’m at home, I’m in my living room.

I’ve Had a long day I put the laptop on my lap. I turn on a Cake show and I go to town and I make graphics Now – maybe I’m showing my nerd But that’s something fun and creative I can do And I can still be relaxing and Read my shows, So this is something that is so easy. That’s why I can do it. Canva is genius because what they’ve done is they’ve taken away the guesswork Around how big does that graphic need to be You’ve got a banner? You’ve got social Posts that are one size you got Instagram stories that are one size.

You Got Twitter, I mean it’s like crazy, as a business owner trying to figure out all These different sizes We’ll check this out. You can see here we got YouTube. Blog art, Instagram Story, Facebook Cover Facebook posts, YouTube thumbnail. I Mean they’re all in here, Which is fantastic Now, as you scroll down you’ll See these are all of my designs And the designs are saved in here. So if I want To go in and change it, I can easily do that So here, you’ll see, this is a recap.

Of my articles this week, So they give you all of these different design templates. Which makes my life so much easier. I don’t have to bring all this creative Energy to the party anymore: They bring it for me. So if there’s a specific event, So here you’ll see these are all of my YouTube articles. You know This is the primary area, what you can say:…, Okay. This is the font that I want. They have hundreds of fonts in here.

You can also upload your own font, which is Fantastic And also you can have your brand colors saved in here as well. Now I’m going to take that and I’m going to make that yellow I’m going to spread this Apart, It’s very very intuitive There There’s my graphic. I go ahead and Download it I can download it with the transparent background. I can compress The file, so it’s not too big And I can also adjust it You’ll see here.

I can Make it into a JPEG a PDF, a PDF print, a article or an animation, And now I’m done And then I make another one. So what I do is I go in here and I create these Images and then I use them as templates, So you just use this little copy page And then what I’ll do is I’ll go in I’ll grab another image and I’ll do the same. Thing over and over again Now I’m building sustainability in my Designs, So when clients see these or followers see these articles, they’re used To this look and feel on the website and on my social media, So cool right, I love Canva, So great All right, the next tool – I absolutely adore, couldn’t do my business Without it, it’s SEM rush And that search engine marketing rush, SEMrush.

Com You’ll see here, This is a tool. It’s not free. You can get a 7-day free trial if You sign up and give them your email, But this tool has been probably the most Significant tool in my arsenal when it comes to understanding human behavior Data, Let me login and I’ll show you what I mean: Now this tool is $ 99 a month, That’s the smallest. They have So when you log in There’s a lot to look at here, but let me just show you some of the highlights.

First of all, there’s just the dashboard, So what I can do is I can come in here. I Can put in my any domain name, you want, We usually put in the clients domain Names Now I’m going to be able to see a list of keywords that my website Currently ranks for So you’ll see here that I have 453 Keywords I currently rank for. I can see how many people are linking back to my Website Close to 2,000 And I can see the distribution of traffic, So you See that US is most of my traffic.

I get some nice amount from the UK, Canada Australia, I can also see how many people, looking at my website on mobile devices, Which is awesome, I can also see my top keywords right here. So, like you’ll, see Here I ranked the bottom of the page for SEO coaching and then I’ve got a bunch Of other phrases, If I want to see the full list, I can see that as well. Here we Go? Here’s all the keywords I currently rank for.

So it’s important to understand. That I can take a look at these and I can make sure that the content that I am… The content that I’m optimizing for is actually showing up here in the search Results: okay And where does a search in there? Alright, Now we’re going to go to Keyword analytics Now, I adore…. This is a tool called the keyword, magic tool. I Love, it Just add, word magic to anything and it Sounds instantly better: Okay, here’s magic Now I’m going to go in here, I’m just going to put in like.

… Let’s just do SEO! Workshops So I put SEO workshops in And now it’s going to give me all. The variants to that So you’ll see I’ve got 110 searches per month. For SEO workshop Now, keep in mind that’s an exact match phrase so just SEO. Workshop, It has 110 searches a month, that’s well over 1200 Searches a year And if I can break page one of that, That’s going to be really good. For my business And here you’ll see, I have SEO workshop Los Angeles SEO.

Training workshop And you’ll see how much smaller the search volume is. There So SEO workshop has 110 searches per month And then you’ll see There’s always an interesting difference between the plural and the singular. So Make sure to always look at that, So that’s another one of my favorites There Are so many great tools in here, Just the ranking tool and the keyword, magic tool? You’ll be in a really good spot to do amazing keyword, research.

There is a lot Else going on here and we’ll have many many articles on sem rush, but this is one Of my favorite tools, The next tool that I absolutely adore is a tool called Answer The Public: Now it’s got this Willie strange guy with a ridiculously Large sweater Don’t really understand that, but it does certainly get your Attention Now I’m going to come in here and I’m going to put SEO workshop Actually was Going to put SEO This is a tool that, if you put the smaller version of a keyword in Here, you’re going to get a lot more recommendations.

So, as I come down here, I’r going to get questions, prepositions comparisons, alphabetics and related, And Look at this whoa You’re like…. Okay, that’s a lot! What It’s doing is it’s showing you all the ways that people think about SEO And This gorgeous graphic, So you get the how? Where can will, which? Who are? What? When And why So every single angle of that keyword, The front the back and the sides? Now this is great you can see.

That’s not something that answer the Public is giving me it’s giving me… It’s from my next favorite tool, which is Called keywords everywhere Now: keywords everywhere is a plug-in or I’m sorry, an Add-On to Google, Chrome And you’ll see what it does is it takes all the data From Google and overlays it on top of answer the public, It also shows up in Google search results, So what I’m going to do is pop over here.

So finally, Keywords Everywhere is absolutely fantastic. It’s a very simple Install so let me show you what you need to do Once you go to keywordseverywhere.Com, install for Chrome, first You’re going to see this guy Go ahead and add it Mine’s already added but go ahead and add it to Chrome. Now, once you do that You’re going to see this little tiny guy See that right there, So I’m going to click On that Then you’ll see a right here.

Settings So go to settings right here. And you’re going to get API key. So then you’re going to go to API key, give your Email address and then agree to the terms and conditions It’s going to send you An email it comes from Kevin. I don’t why it’s comes from Kevin, but it always Shows up in your spam filter.Sso make sure you go to your spam filter find the Email from Kevin Click on that and you’re going to get your API key Copy that and then put it in And then we’re going to go to keywords everywhere.

And then you’re going to validate Now here’s what happens when you do this It’s a little bit kind of weird So post in the comments below. SEO Report: SEMRush – The BEST SEO Tool Ever

I Love to geek out over tools that, just you know, translate this technical World of search engine optimization and I like to call findability into Something that’s digestible and easy to understand by a layman.

— someone who’s, not A techie geeky sort of person, So I’m going to show you some of my favorite tools. And the first one is a tool called SEM rush.Com. Now this tool is one of my Favorites I spend most of my professional career in this one report. And I’m going to walk you through how to take a look at where you rank in the Search results and how to generate an SEO report based on your existing Ranking Alright, I’m going to show you one of my favorite tools.

It’s called SEM Rush, I did a bunch of speaking for them and it’s a wonderful organization. They Have a plethora of tools Now I’m going to pop into this, but I don’t want to… And I Don’t want to intimidate you, So I’m also going to show you one thing about this: And then I’ll as you subscribe and read my additional articles I’ll keep diving Into this tool, because it has so many great features, What you’re going to do? Is go to SEMrush.

Com and you’ll, see the screen in front of you Now you’re Going to put your website address in here, So I’m going to go ahead and put my Website then, hit start now Now the trick with this is going to give you ranking. But it’s only going to give you a limited amount, because you don’t have a Paid subscription, I have a paid subscription, so I’m going to go ahead. Now You’ll see here, I can register to get ten free requests.

It is absolutely Worth giving them your email address and setting up a password, so you can go in And really have fun geeking out over this tool, I’m going to go over to my next Tab where I’m already logged in Now, what you’re going to see when you run your Report is I’m just going to come up here to the top, which is the same thing. I just Showed you Ooh, I love the tool I’m showing my geek Okay, Let’s see what’s going on, You know it’s hard because you can subscribe to a Lot of different tools, This one is definitely worth subscribing to The Basic account is $ 99 a month, and that might like get you in the throat a Little bit, But when you see what this tool can do, you’ll be like “.

I want that.” Alright, So we’re going to go back here to findability just on the main screen at The very top – And this is the same thing as the homepage screen as well Now – I’m Going to get a dashboard of all of my ranking, Oh, I love a dashboard, So you’ll See here that I have 557 keywords I currently rank, for. It also tells you Like how many backlinks, So I have almost 2,000 backlinks Backlinks – are when other Sites are linking from their site to my site, And now these are very important.

Because they’re, like one directional endorsements from other people’s Websites back to yours, I like to think of them like a restaurant review, You Have a fabulous dinner and then you go on to like Yelp or some other website. And you endorse that restaurant and how great they are Similar to a backlink is Man, she spoke here. She did this, we love that and then they linked from that Their site back to yours, Which is gold for Google, They love those One-Directional backlinks, So I’ve got a nice backlink profile.

Now we’re going to Come down here, Look at this, So you might think “ Well. Why would anyone from Internationally visit my website?”. Well, you can see here that I have quite an Interesting spread of people who are visiting my site from the US to the UK Canada, Australia, Denmark and Spain in the Netherlands, I guess I’m huge in the Netherlands, It’s only about this much search, so maybe not really huge.

It also Tells you how much people are coming from mobile devices and other, So this Can be very, very telling about? Are you getting reach internationally and not Just by US searches, So I’m going to go in here and I’m going to click top Organic keywords: This is going to give me a master list of all the keywords. That my website currently ranks for, I think, a lot of people don’t even know. These kinds of tools exist And I love.

… I love the data because the power is in The data, If you know how you’re ranking, then you can hold the people who have Said they’re doing SEO for you, You can really hold them to task and make sure They’re actually doing what you’re paying them to do. So, let’s come down. Here You’ll see right now. Let me walk you through what you’re, seeing here So The first one is the exact keyword phrase findability So I ranked number 2 for the word findability.

It’s 52 percent of my total Traffic to my website, So people really love that phrase And it gets 880 Searches per month Now remember that’s one month worth of data and I’ll take That But then you have the times that by 12 to get the full year, which is I don’t Do math in my head, but that’s a lot So 880 is a lot, I’m very happy with that. Phrase And you’ll see here that we’ve got the exact page that ranks for it.

Which is my home page Now, let’s take a take, a look and see what other keywords I currently rank for So SEO. Coaching is the number two keyword that I rank for. I’r in sixth position, So if you think about a search result, Page there’s ten positions on a search result. Page Above the fold means I Haven’t scrolled down yet It’s an old newspaper concept. So if I have a Newspaper folded up above the fold is the newspaper Fold it down.

That’s below The fold Why they use a newspaper reference for an internet search, I have No idea, but here we are So ideally I want to make sure that I’m above the Fold That would be one to five And then 6 is just below the fold. Now. Here’s The scary stats as 86 %, never scroll down they’re just they make a decision right. At the top And then 92 % never go to page 2, They say the best place to bury a Dead body is on page 2 of Google.

So just keep that in mind that if you’re on Page 2, Not really going to be helpful. We want to make sure that you’re on page One So you’ll see SEO coaching, I’m just Slightly below the fold, It gives me 7 % of the total traffic to my Website And people search that phrase 320 times per month. On average, over 12 months, That’s a good keyword for me. I’r ranking For SEO coaching, I could do that all day every day.

That’s my jam. So SEO coaching is definitely where I want to bring. Then we come down of Course, you’re going to always rank for your name, But I love to see that Actually Findability University is not the number one way people are searching. For me, I want to have more people searching for what I do and what I know. And not necessarily for my name, If they’re searching for my name, they Already know me and that’s not helpful, to Findability.

I want to make sure that When people are typing in keyword, phrases that they’re finding me for that, Topic Not necessarily just for my name Now you’ll see Candyland map, You wonder, probably like. Why does she break for that? Well, I have a article in my YouTube. Blog called Customer Journey map, So you might want to check that out because I talked all about how your website and your customer journey is similar to Candyland, Of course, I’m going to rank under my name.

I got a rank, So Heather, let’s see Oprah. I was on Oprah a million years ago. Of course you don’t really ever stop ranking for Oprah keywords, So I’m still On there and then, as you come down, you’ll see all the other phrases I rank. For So SEM rush is absolutely fantastic for giving you keyword data. So let’s Take a peek at websitegrader.Com and it’s w-e-b-s-i-t-e- G-r-a-d-e-r.Com, So What you’re, seeing in front of me right now is the website.

Grader says how Strong is your website, So we’re going to come in here and I’m going to put in my Website Don’t have to give him your email address. Remember they’re, very good. Marketers and you’re going to hit get your answer Now. The cool thing about This tool is that it gives you a very high level, 10,000 feet overview of what Your website looks like to a Google bot. Now I got 84, which is an excellent score.

But there’s always room for improvement. It’s like these little tiny tweaks that You can make So you’ll see here performance, I love a big slider and what I’r not talking about a burger, I’m talking about a website slider. So let me Go to my website and I’ll show you what I mean by that Now some people argue Whether these are a little dated some of them say it’s a dated. I love it. I saw You see here that I’ve got a nice big slider On my homepage, So if I come down here, you’ll see that I have one slider, then I Have my second slider, then I have my third slider and then I have my fourth Slider, okay, Now these are great They’re, very egocentric.

I think a lot of Business owners love these sliders because they can put these beautiful Images on there, However, when we go back to website grader you’ll, see that I’m Getting dinged on this, So performance is: how fast is my website pulling? Is it Slow like taken forever like molasses or is it superfast? Google is a nervous Nellie, Google does not want to wait for the data; They want to make sure that That data is being pulled fast.

Remember that over 40 % of all traffic coming to Google is by mobile devices, So you have to remember. Your website is like this Big, not this big and Google wants that to pull fast, I’m getting dinged on Performance because I love my sliders, So I can always go in there and compress it. See if I can get it to pull quicker, but the next one you’ll see is mobely. Responsive That means I can look at the website this big and I can push it and All the way down to a little tiny screen on a phone, and it still looks great It Should beautifully collapse on itself, Let me show you a trick to test your Website and how it looks on a mobile device.

So I’m going to come back to my Screen and I’m going to go here So when you go over to…, I use Internet…. I use Chrome Any browser will do this. Firefox Safari You’re, going to come over here to the very End of the browser and you’re going to get this little double arrow, then you’re Going to pull it over, Pull it over pull it over. Do you see how it’s collapsing on Itself Then, I’m going to do is you’ll see here that as I go down, Oooh look Everything has neatly stacked on top of each other, and this is so important.

Because your website better look good on a mobile device, There’s how people can Come in and run their own website grader. So if you’d like to come in here, You can run a website grader right here. You know it looked like a Candyland map right it goes all the way down.

Well now that map has been compressed and it goes all the way down. So very Important that you really take a hard look at what is my website look like on A mobile device, Google will absolutely penalize you if your website is not Mobile irresponsive, The next one is SEO Now. This is an incredibly big topic. Clearly, that’s what my expertise is in. However, what it’s looking at is a Keyword, consistency on the homepage Finally, security.

Now I don’t want you to Freak out, if the security says zero out of ten, it means that every page in your Website needs to be HTTPS. That means that every page in your website is Secure One of the reasons this is so important is because lots of people have WordPress websites – Maybe you have a wordpress website. WordPress – is great. It Is easy to use you can you know set it up, you can add new themes, all the time.

It’s a great great platform for a website. However, it has a lot of security. Issues, Do you know some of the number one ways that people save their password Is actually the word password Don’t do that Anything that’s available on Facebook, Your birthday, your dog’s name, your husband’s name, Your anniversary, These are not things you want to use for your passwords. Because people can easily come in and figure out what that password is That’s A no-no We don’t want that, So what we’re going to take a look at is make sure that Https is on every single page of your website, So when Google comes, they see That, Okay, I trust you You have some nice security built in.

How do you get that? Fixed Call your hosting provider Say “. I want to be on a dedicated IP and a Secured server.” Now, I’m sorry for all the geek talk, But it’s so important. You Understand this at a baseline level, A dedicated IP is like a cul-de-sac. You Move into a cul-de-sac, you got a bunch of neighbors on the Cul-de-sac. Hosting companies, cell storage or website hosting and something called an Ip block, Like a cul-de-sac, You have lot of other people that you’re Sharing that block with Now one site could be a porn site, Hopefully not Once I could be banned by Google You’re keeping company with other web Sites that have been penalized by Google – You don’t want that Sharing is not Caring here, So what we need to do is make sure you’re on a dedicated IP Meaning just you on that IP address And then of course, HTTPS You set up your Hosting on a secured server, Very important Just give your hosting company Call Say “, I want a dedicated IP and I want a secured host.

” Very, very important. For your credibility and Trust, So as you go down, I’ve just looked at this whole Area right here, Performance, mobile SEO and security. What Is A Backlink?

There’s a lot of Misunderstanding around backlinks or just links, so let’s talk a little bit. About what a link is, what are the different kinds of links, and how can I Check to see who’s currently linking to me, There are three different kinds of Links there are gold, silver and bronze.

So let’s talk about the difference. Between all three of these links, The first one is the bronze standard, the Bronze standard is when someone’s looking to you and you link to them So It’s it called a “ reciprocal link”. I link to you, you link to me, and we kind of Scratch-Scratch, each other’s backs. That’s fine, but Google’s like “ you’re in Cahoots we see you”, So those are fine but they’re, not really the best they’re.

The Bronze standard, The silver standard is going to be inside of your content on Your website You’re, linking from your source out to another reference So that Could be a word or a study or a stat, And you link to where that stat resides on Another website That’s a silver standard. If you are a professor and expert in Your space, of course, you’re going to cite your sources. That’s what links are all about.

Links are meant to validate the content that You’re, talking about on that page, So make sure that when you’re writing Content that you’re, linking inside of your body copy, That’s considered a Silver standard or when you’re, linking from your website to another site Now Let’s talk about the good stuff: Let’s talk about the gold standard of linking The gold standard of linking is going to be Harvard A.

Edu links, their paper Or some content from their domain to you Now those are going to be pretty hard to Get but.Edu’s are the bomb, So you want to make sure you can get them If you Like maybe you present to a class, maybe you write an article for a newspaper. Maybe you made someone a blog.Edu’s have a Tremendous amount of credibility for Google Because clearly, if you’re, if You’ve got an amazing educational institution and they’re linking to you Then you are an expert in your field, Also any news site, so CNN Forbes any of The big sites that pick up a quote from you pick up a stat There’s a wonderful Website called Haro H-A-R-O.

Com, It’s help a reporter out. I read reporters Who go in there and they’ll say I need to speak to someone on SEO or I need an Seo expert or I need to know how businesses can grow online. I will go Into Haro and I will write a quick note to that reporter and saying here’s like How I can help you Now? This is why this is so. Cool is because, if that reporter Takes my quote, I sent him. I get a backlink from wherever he’s creating Content back to my website.

Remember: that’s the gold standard one-directional From a news, educational site back to your website, I’ll take any link that Comes from a third-party site back to you But don’t reciprocate! Remember I Don’t want Google to think I’m in cahoots. I have a lot of people that are Go in like the last, their cousin and all their uncles and all their clients to Link to them and then they’ll link back, It’s fine, but it’s not good enough.

Really for Google to say “ mmm, that’s good! I could trust that they’re. Clearly an Authority” So be very careful about how you select your links, Let me show you One of my favorite tools – I talk about it, a lot kind of like a broken record here. But I love SEMRush. Now I’ve logged into my account, if you don’t have an SEMRush account, there’s a lot of other backlinks, I’m going to show you a free Backlink audit tool here in a minute, but I want to show you SEMRush first SEMRush – has a tool called Backlinks.

Now the problem is, is when you get all these Links and they’re all being generated, sometimes those links are toxic Kind of A dramatic word for saying “, I didn’t ask for that: link,,” or maybe “. That website is Is participating in deceptive practice,,”, meaning they’re just linking to Everything hoping that hoping they’ll create this book is called a backlink Profile to Google that makes a lot of traffic alert their website.

You may have A lot of links that create overtime that you had no Business in creating – and we want to make sure that we read this, So we want to do What’s called a backlink audit and make sure that we tell Google that if these Are all toxic links? I don’t want to be associated with that. I didn’t endure that endorse that or approve that you need to then tell Google, that you don’t want, you, don’t have nothing to do with these links.

Because those could be affecting your ranking and you’d never know it. So when You come in here you’re, going to run a backlink audit And you’ll see right here. That I have 1,700 links from other sources back to my website. I have a Hundred and ninety-six referring domains, meaning of those 1,700 backlinks they’re Coming from 196 different domains, And of course, then I have recurring IP Addresses Don’t worry about that.

That’s just geek talk, Okay, so then we want to Come down in here We’re going to take a careful look at which ones are Considered toxic and which ones are good Now. What I want you to see here is, as You go down. You’ll, see this a little button right here that says disavow. This Creates a beautiful little Excel spreadsheet, So as you’re looking through Here and you’re, looking at where these are coming from, if I see anything in Here that I’m like “ what?”? Let’s see, let’s see here? Oh no, no! No! No! No! I’r going Through here I see speaking places, I’ve spoken at, let’s see where else I can see.

Here, Lots of printer hub, thank you! So now I see Napa-net.Org. Now you have a Couple things you can click on that link, see where it resides. If you don’t want It then you’re going to hit the plus sign now what this does is. It adds that URL For that one link to an Excel spreadsheet, then it will submit it to Google, on your behalf, So what happens is you’re saying? Look. I am great at what I Do but all these links have shown up over time that I had no business in Creating I don’t want to be associated with those and Google’s like okay, great And you submit this document to Google and that will help to clean up your Backlink profile make sure those gold, silver and bronze links are really Giving you the benefit of lifting your website, So when you do create a piece of Content Google’s like “, they got it going on.

” All These are the people are linking directly to that content and they think It’s amazing So another quick tool to look at it’s not as fancy as SEMRush But it’s free Free is nice. This is a website tool like I found called Ahrefs, ahrefs.Com/backlink-checker and I’ll make sure to put it in the Notes below in the in the description of this article You’re going to come in You’re going to put your domain name you’re going to hit check backlinks, Alright, so What it’s doing is it’s going in there and taking a look now at what are all The pages that I’m ranking for what are the backlinks I’m getting from those Pages and then, of course, referring domains.

This is a wonderful way, just Start looking through these links, If you see any links in here, you’re like what The heck, how did that ever like here’s one called Beauty Store Business? I don’t Know what that is, I don’t know why anyone would link me. But maybe if I go and check it out, so I’m going to click on that. Let’s see where This goes Yeah, so this is clearly a link bait site. A link bait site is where they Put a bunch of links on here and then of course, they’re hoping that Google will See those links and give them credit for it.

I don’t want to be on this website. You’ll see it’s clearly a spam site, So I’m going to go back and then I’m going to Go into my SEMRush and say uh-uh, I don’t want to be associated, I’m going to disavow That link, So I know this is a little geeky post. Remember that And you don’t Do this, And you don’t say hashtag out loud according to my teenager, So today We’Re going to talk about hashtags for business owners, The do’s and don’ts and How to find the right ones to bring more traffic to your website? No I’m not playing tic-tac-toe. I am Actually, talking about hashtags today, Hashtag Anyone rolled their eyes when They heard the word hashtag Yeah.

I get a lot of that, especially when I speak to Ceos and business owners They’re like “ What the heck is a hashtag?”. Some of us Knew it as a pound sign, but now it’s a hashtag And if you really want to Embarrass your teenagers just do this or say hashtag out loud, It’s wonderful! My Son wanted bottle service for 2 years, So there has to be a little bit of Payback at some point right Anyway, love you Kyle Anyway, so when I think About is what the heck is a hashtag, and why should I care A hashtag is like a Party There’s a lot of different parties I want to go to, But I don’t know which Party But I like a lot of different parties, So I want to follow.

.. My favorite Things are rose gold, so I’m going to find the rose gold party, the Earl Grey Tea party and the London party, I love all of those things Now I don’t Necessarily attach one single person to those concepts I just want to read: Everything that happens under that keyword, Let me show you I’m going to Show you on my computer here When you come here, I’m going to type in # rosegold Now you’ll see here that rose gold has 5,923,000 posts for the word rose gold.

So I’m going to click on that Now. I’M going to follow this: Do you see how I’m, following that, I’M not following anyone specifically, but I’m following the concept or the Party theme And you’ll see all of this is all about everything: crazy rose, gold, Okay, Now I’m going to go back and I’m going to type in # EarlGrey, So Earl Grey has 613,000 posts So what you’re tapping Into here, guys is you’re tapping into that’s how people think This is what They search for So there is 613 thousand posts for Earl Gray, Now I’m going to go ahead and I’m going to click on that Now I’m going to follow! That hashtag, So no matter what topic is out there, Whether it be SEO keywords, Social media, or just things that you love you’re, going to get The exact thing.

.. So I’m going to put in unicorn You’ll, see here: unicorn has 12 Million posts Now as a business owner. What that tells you is that people think That’S interesting, So if you have a unicorn something or a rose gold Something or whatever it is you have, there is a hashtag for that. Now. Here’S The cool thing is hashtags work across all different social platforms. Now It Used to be just Twitter and Instagram, But now they work in Facebook, they work In LinkedIn they work in Pinterest, they work in Instagram, And so we want to Think,.

.. And Twitter, of course, So once you find your hashtag, then you can use it in All of your posts across all of your social media platforms. Now you may be Wondering “! Well what what hashtags that I be using and how many?” The rule of thumb Is an Instagram it’s about 10 hashtags. Now I wouldn’t use that many in all the Other platforms, But the hashtags are really very strong in an Instagram Environment But then, if we look at “, Okay, I’m going to do # SEO, # getfound, # keywordsRule, # girlBoss, # solopreneur And I Have the same group of hashtags, I use in all my posts And then I add more based.

On whatever the topic is of that post, So as you’re going through… Now I use a tool. Here called Hashtagify And hashtagify will let you know what are the Trending concepts: what are the trending hashtags, as well as what kind of Suggestions of content should I be using around those hash tags, So I can come in Here and I can type in # SEO, Okay, so what you’ll see that what this does Is it says, “, Okay, the results for SEO.

.., I’m going to scroll down You’ll, see here. That the popularity is 80.7 and let’s see the week trend is up by 1 % And now you’ll see that I can see in this word cloud. If I’m going to Be using # SEO, I need to use, # Google # marketing, # SEM, # socialMedia # digitalmarketing, So I will grab that And make sure that when we are posting on social media, we are using the current Trending hashtags around that one concept and hashtagify does a great Job of helping you to understand what is the current cloud (, if you will ) around That one keyword phrase, If I scroll down it, will give you all different kinds:.

.., The Languages, the spelling variants, as well as the top countries that are using that As well as some recommended influencers, So it’s always a good idea when you’re Reading a hashtag, if you see an influencer someone, you admire someone Who has great content, make sure to follow them as well as make sure to Comment and like their posts, Very important that you are an engaged person In your community – and it’s not just i’m just posting posting posting And you Want to really be a part of the community, So for me I read search Engine strategies – I have a Moz, of course Moz – is a great community of SEO.

Experts And I also go in and just follow certain entities that I really feel strongly About and I know they know their stuff And those are the hashtags I read and I Also go in and based on those hashtags, I find my peeps right. I want to hang out With my hood In the hood, I want to find my peeps in the hood And I had to find Where is it that I need to be, And who do I want to be seen hanging out with And a Hashtag, it’s just a big party.

You can have…. Finally, you can go to as many Parties, as you want and you’ll feel totally comfortable in every single Party also known as a hash tag, Hash tag right, Hopefully, you’re not annoyed or Rolling your eyes anymore, about the importance of hash tags. Pinterest Search Engine: Not Just Nails And Decorating!

We google it in Pinterest, So we’re going. To talk today how to become the most findable business in Pinterest, So have you heard of Pinterest Pinterest Is a very fast-growing social media platform, It’s been around for a while But it’s really come into its own.

Now, let’s talk a little bit about what Pinterest is So Pinterest think of like a pin board or a bulletin board Each Board is represented with a bunch of pins inside of each board. Now each board Has a title or a theme for that board, So this one is keywords this one is Images, this one is workshops and all of these Have tools, hashtags, rose-gold, retreats keywords and Earl Grey tea, So you can have a little bit of everything in here.

Now the cool thing is is, as we are, building our Pinterest board. Not only do The individual boards rank in Google so do the individual pins are findable. Inside of Pinterest, So what happens is is you’re able to then start really Building a thought leadership platform based on the pins and the boards that You share So, as I continue to share over time each one of these boards is Findable and then each one of these concepts, So each one of these board Titles keywords, tools, Earl Grey images, hash tags and key notes.

These are all Going to be seen and indexed by Google Now, as I start, adding more pins into Here then, it creates credibility for each board. So let me show you what I Mean by that So I’ve just googled my name And let’s take a look and see what Comes up on it, Of course I have my website and all of my individual pages. In my site that come up These by the way are the most searched pages on your Website the most visited, I should say, Come down.

There’S my LinkedIn profile. Come down here are the latest articles. Aha, look at that 125 best findability University images, So I click on that. That goes right into Pinterest And what You’Ll see here is that it goes directly to a findability University board. Now What you’ll notice is that people can follow the board Right now. I have 934 followers on this board and 125 Pins So as you come, downm you’ll see that these are all images that I have Posted And I keep gathering them over time So you’ll see here that I’ve got People holding their diplomas, I’ve got infographics here.

I’Ve got all Different kinds of things and people follow that Now I’m going to go ahead. And log, in What we’re looking at is the ability to see how people search And I Can come up here and I could put SEO workshops Alright Now, if I had named Let’S just say I named this one right here: Maybe I named this one SEO workshops Then, if I did ask your workshops here: Then you would see my board here in Pinterest.

You would also see the Individual images that I named SEO workshop in these book pins as well So Remember a pin is just like putting a little thumbtack if you will and you’re Pinning it in these respective groups And each of the boards has its own Keyword theme So keyword being the operative phrase, because the keyword Indicates to Google how to rank each one of these boards, So when you’re thinking About an interesting different kind of visual search engine Pinterest is Perfect for this, Because not only is the largest community women on Pinterest, The Average time is like 40 minutes, which is insane on a social media site.

So when You’Re thinking about it, people love to gather and organize Kind of like a Really well organized closet, The shirts are in one area, the pants are in another You know the jackets are in another. We naturally want to organize by type Now If I am interested in a bunch of different things, I’m interested in… Like interiors and I’m interested in SEO and I’m interested in a Bunch of different topics – I can create all of my pins to reflect what is most Important to me or what’s happening in my life, So Pinterest, If you hadn’t Considered adding this to your marketing mix, I highly suggest you do so because Not only do the boards rank in Google, but also the read time inside of Pinterest is ridiculous and it’s a whole untapped community of Potential visits to your website Followers on your on your social and It’S just a great way to repurpose a piece of content.

So what I mean by that So when you are creating content, there’s three major buckets: you want to think About First of all, there’s the website then there’s the blog. Then there’s the Social share, So we’ve got your website, your blog and your social media. Now they All have this intersection point, So what I want to think about is any content. That we post on a page in the website, gets shared to the blog and then any Image on that page can also be shared to social.

So remember you can share pages Just as well as you can share blogs Now, I’m going to take one blog post that I post Maybe every week And it has an image on it, So of course the blog is resident on My page, That’s where I can find it And then I can take the image from that blog And share it to social Now, so that’s how the website works. That’S what the blog Works Now, let’s talk about social media.

If I have the blogs and someone finds me Let’S say this is in Pinterest And they find one of those images and they click On that, it can either take them back to the blog or back to the website. So You’Ll see that it’s these are not working in their own individual silos. The website can share its pages to the blogs into the social media, The blogs Can also be found on the website and also shared in social media or Pinterest And, of course, the blogs that were already creating have images So share.

Them like crazy, So we’re thinking about a tool like Pinterest. I want you to Think, like a tree, Isn’t that nice I’m a very good drawer Okay, so the trunk right is Seo or whatever phrase that you want to optimize for So that’s the trunk Now What about all the leaves that are in here So Pinterest Helps you to understand if you want to call your board SEO, then inside of that You’Re going to have keywords: Google hashtags Index pay for click and whatever else you want Vlogs But they’re, all pointing Down and they’re fortifying the concept of SEO, So you create a board and Pinterest called SEO or SEO workshops Then, as you’re posting individual pins, On those that this one board you’re building up the credibility for all of These phrases as well, So if I go into Pinterest and I type in keywords or Keyword tools that pin is going to be found When they find that pin they come Back to the board on SEO, So with every single thing that I’m pinning out into The Pinterest universe – it’s all coming back to this board on SEO, So not only Does SEO rank in Google for that board, but all these keywords are now findable.

Inside a Pinterest Super powerful man, So if you love images and you’re already Creating images as part of your social media strategy consider building Pinterest You’ve already got the images. You’Ve already got the blogs You might As well share it to one more social site, A visual search engine, if you will Call Pinterest, I tell you, I really love Pinterest. I have over 10,000 followers. Findability University – Best SEO Books

I’M going to introduce you to My world of SEO experts and show you some of my favorite books on how to be The most findable business online, If you love to read or you have an E-Reader Then I’ve got some great books for you Now. I know a lot of us. Do our Learning through internet Internet searches blog posts, But I wanted to Cover my top books on SEO and social media People that I admire greatly and I Want to point you toward because they are master craftsmen in their own niche.

The first one I want to talk about is a book that I’ve looked at and read and Recommended my clients for years This is a book by Steve Krug. It’S called “, Don’t Make me think” – And this is actually a revised edition from 2014, But what it Does talk about is when I come to a website or I come to a digital asset. Don’T make me think, Give me exactly what I need when I need it. So I highly Recommend the book “ Don’t make me think” by Steve Krug.

The next one is a Gentleman that I admire greatly, He is a genius at Facebook targeting and when it Calls psychographic targeting And he wrote a book called “ Killer, Facebook ads.” And it’s from 2011, but it’s still absolutely relevant today. He also wrote A book called “ The Complete Social Media Managers, Guide, essential tools and Tactics for business success.”! So if you want to be a social media manager that Is the book you should absolutely read, It is genius It lays out the whole concept of how to really learn to be an expert in Community and social management – That’s Marty, Weintraub with AimClear.

He speaks At all the major conferences He is hugely well-respected in the industry. And I read everything I can get my hands on by Marty. The next one is search. Engine optimization all-in-one for dummies, You guys have all seen these Dummies book Well, this book is unique And that there is no dummy happening here. Bruce Clay is the father of SEO as far as on maybe the Godfather. Yes, I’m the Godfather of SEO – And I tell you this book – is the front the back – that the Sides and the inside of SEO from start to finish, I highly recommend this book.

It is search engine, optimization all-in-one for By Bruce Clay, Okay, So the next one is a dear friend of mine and a genius in Social media, His name is Corey Pearlman. He and I actually spoke at search engine Strategies a million years ago, When my book came out, findability formula Published by Wiley & Sons, he came out with his book called emarketing bootcamp And he and I instantly connected because we were sort of the the more extroverted People at search engine strategies, And so we kind of got you know we were Instantly liked each other – and we were very much comrades in arms And he’s Recently launched another book called “ Social media overload.

”. So if you’re a Business owner, who feels like all of it is just too much. You would definitely Want to read this book: It’s by Corey Pearlman, It’s called Social Media Overload Simple social media strategies for overwhelmed and time deprived Businesses, So I’m just absolutely enthralled by that book. Another book I Really like Look up Gina’s book, It’s called “ Social Media Doesn’t Work”. If you Don’T work it It’s a great book on how to really be an expert, but you have to Know how to work the system and that’s what Gina’s book is all about And then Last but not least, is my books, So I’ve had a tremendous education around not Only working with publishers, but also with self-publishing, So my first book Findability formula was released in.

… Oh, I hate to say it Was least. I think it was Like 2009, is that right, Yes, March of 2009, which seems like forever Ago, But I just stopped leaving…, I just stopped working at Yahoo and this Was my very first book out on my own? A lot of this was based on the experiences I had with my trainees when I was training for Yahoo. My second book is Called Thumbonomics — the essential business roadmap for social and mobile Marketing And that’s all about how to treat social media as search engines as Rather than social media sites, So it’s kind of an interesting take on social Media And then my final book is marketing espionage.

I’Ve had enough Domino’s in my life, I’m ready for something a little more Interesting, So what we’re going to take a look at is what shows up on a search Result pages incredibly important to restaurants Now, primarily because it’s All local driven meaning where I’m at right now my IP address right now is Going to match up with how you have your restaurant listed, So the first thing: You’Ll see here is you’ve got Google local business listings.

So what you’ll See here is you’ve got Pizza on this page. It’S all over. I’Ve got Blue Pan Pizza West Highlands, Marco’s Cold, Fired Pizza, Anne’s Pizza Denver. So that’s Great, it’s got all of them have pizza in the description, but take a look at this If you come over, KeywordsEverywhere will show you exactly how people are Searching for pizza Now I could of course, Pizza Denver or best Pizza, Denver.

It’S always going to be like the brass ring of keywords, But there’s only 10 Results on a search result page so that can be pretty challenging.
