You guys need to deserve a lot more and to date, we’re going to go over how to price yourself as an influencer, because you eunuch left your points bitch, but I have my money right. If you wan na learn how to price yourself as an influencer in 2018, all I got ta do is keep on reading. But what’s up you guys, my name is Shane and welcome back to my blog Dave, we’re going over the highly highly requested topic of how to charge money as an influencer.
Actually, this is a sequel to a article back three days ago about how to work with a brand and how to work with an influencer. There today is pricing specific, and I am so excited to dive right in make sure you don’t miss a single minute of this article at the very end, I’ll be giving away a DM script, what to say to brands and even your own guide. It’s going to get little bit of background, my name is Jade and I am an entrepreneur and I’m here to help you grow on social media and it’s important to actually make money and monetize.
So you guys get the coins you deserve biggest problem ever is the fact that influencers don’t know how to price themselves they’re literally giving away their surface their work, and you guys deserve a lot more than what you do. I just literally care about you guys so much so. This is why I’m bringing justice to this topic, if you’re an influencer and struggling too precious up, and you want to know more make sure you give this article a like and subscribe to my blog.
I’d really appreciate it and hey: it really mean a lot back to the article we’re going to drive right into the formula I made for you guys at a brick ever you variable down. This is not some BS, this social Bluebook or any website. That’s going to tell you how much you’re worth so ops, I call it. The social Bluebook you’ve been raving it to me in the comment section. Someone was requesting me to take a look.
It’s basically a way for an influencer to find their price, see how much it’s actually accurate. So I have actually never done this, so I kind of got an account. It’s my values uh two hundred fifty six dollars per upload – oh god, okay, they um hold up. I’m not sure where they’re getting this math, I mean I dropped out of school and I’m pretty sure, there’s a difference between each brand. I think this is a great start, but um um I charge a little bit more.
I’m going to give you guys a lot of context, so when I look at a website like social Bluebook and you guys aren’t using it, I think it’s your 8 start, but some of you actually have true or social book. The social Bluebook doesn’t tell you is how to actually map it out per brand and what they can afford. Maybe in sally gummy bears can’t afford to under fifty six dollars per post, but nike can there’s difference between each company because there’s a different value for each company.
We’re going to skirt this away jump right into what I mean. If you have a scale, it’s going to be a company owned by Sally Johnson. Now this is going to be a corporation like Nike they’re, not going to hire some snappy rapping influencer to be their NASA turn. What I’m talking about is when you get to a larger corporation, the value of an influencer is much more heavy, you’re, more selective and it’s a huge risk for them.
If they don’t take this into account, I will link below a article of how to price yourself by future. What it’s basically saying is because it’s a higher risk, you can charge more because a brand doesn’t want to mess up when your branding on products on pages. Maybe it’s a collaboration for a product, especially when they put your name on a product. It costs a lot of money to make. Therefore, they’re willing to spend more on you, because if there’s more value to you, you guys going to see it depends per brand and a lot of people just don’t know the value they don’t know their value.
They don’t have brands value, and this is why I created a freaking equation for and now I’m going to show you guys the magic formula, it’s not much magic. It’s very simple! You want to find your KPI. Your KPI is typically your true fans. The number of people that actually listen so when I think about true fans, I’m going to write TF, my handwriting is very bad, I’m really apologizing, but what I think about true fans.
I think these are the people that take action. You guys are curious. What’s a true fan, there are people on your Instagram lives, they’re people that literally comment back when you ask them they’re people that buy your product when you say swipe up it’s the people that move when you say not just alike, not just comment, they take action. They listen to you and they actually value your words and thoughts.
This is a hard number to interpret as long as you know the range it’s it’s a good amount. A lot of people do think that their likes and followers are true fans. That’s not the case. True fans are people that would literally cut their arm off to meet you the way you measure, that is, the average amount of people that really circulate and listen to you money and listen to what you say in for product.
Take it and I’m going to teach you guys how to really find her true fans, but I kind of want to lay out the formula first, you know. So what you do is take the KPI. You multiply it by the average customer value. Go on the company’s website, you want to work with whether it’s like Nike Lululemon, how much they charge for product is that $ 10 per bottle? Is that $ 5.00 for shirt, it’s more valuable to them? They’re a bigger company? The value part is this: AC T stands for sales they make over orders.
So how many orders are they going to make in the value of the lifetime art? Is it going to be a subscription model so every month they buy it? Therefore, you can multiply by 12 for a year subscription, there’s more value. If your customer has a longevity now, you don’t actually have to do this much math. I would just start with the average cost, but if you really want to go in depth, add the value piece and you can charge a lot more.
Social Bluebook is not going to do this for you now you want to take whatever that number is and divide it over ten, because what you’re doing is the number of true fans times the number of sales you generate equals, how much total sales you’re going to Bring but keep in mind, there’s going to be fees, they have to get the product. So the only way a really healthy range for a brand to say yes for it to make sense economically, is over ten, because most marketing budgets are 10 % of the revenue.
So that means, if you have 10 to fans and the product costs 100 bucks for maybe a longevity of a year 10 times that you know you know, that’s $ 1,000. You can chop chop to divide it over 10. You can now charge around $ 100. You want to make a range say: 50. 150, when you put yourself in a range instead of saying you’re starting fee, you get people to be curious and work with the brand and kind of collaborate on what they can afford.
You actually going to help the brand. The brand needs you, so why don’t you help different? A lot of people think I need the brand. No, it’s the opposite as an influencer. The brand needs you to be an affiliate to be an advocate of the product. That was a lot of work. I hope this was helpful. It’s very short now I want to show you guys. I use the strategy in conjunction with my DM script, host the stay of script, awhile back on my youtube blog, but you guys have been using it and getting results check out.
You guys this works, it’s just a number game. If you have someone or a brand that says you’re too expensive and you do the math for them and you use the script, you got a move on. They this works and the reason why you can get the deagle is because it’s a numbers game. You don’t want to just narrow down to one company. You want to work with. That’s not how it works. That’s how I’m going to pay the bills you want to actually work with a lot of people.
Have your PR list I’ll, get a lot of people and get a lot of options. You’d never want to depend on one person to grow your brand. If you have this influence or guide, I actually made a PDF version of it. All you got to do is click the link below there’s going to be a facebook messenger exclusive chat where I will send it to you, and my team will respond. If you have questions now, the way this is going to work is you’re, going to select your free training, it’s absolutely free, and then you can go select the one you want, which is going to be more sale and make sure you just check out the description Box, if you’d like one-on-one coaching, I do help influence there’s one on one.
Just let me know what you need, I’m so thankful you’re here, I’m finally bringing light to this subject, because no one’s frickin doing it right. It’s telling everyone to use this website to guess, to estimate no honey. You were with so much it’ll, be so much more valuable to a company, not because you’re making money off of them. It’s because you care about your true fans. Now, if you want to learn how to make true fans, I will link a article how to get followers and bring with you real community in that will be in this description.
That will be in the description box. But for now that was my article for today. Shout out to the comet way this post to be featured next up is, if you want to be the next one up winner, all I going to do it’s kind of below. Let me know your thoughts um. Meet the guys behind one of the top-rated pumpkin seed snacks on Amazon.com!
We’ll choose the best concept and, lastly, we’ll revise our sketch until it’s ready to be digitally rendered all this done without a drawing tablet.
Okay, let’s hop to it. Hey tinker, yes Michel. How can I be of service? I need a fictitious business name for a project. I can practice on coming right at you. Thank you. Okay, it looks like we’re going to be completing a sketch for our brand new client chatter. Storm chatter storm is a speed dating social application targeting singles from 18 to 35 years old. Their slogan is to help people find true love at lightning speed.
Ah, okay, first thing we’ll do is find some reference material. We can use for inspiration from my computer I’ll, create a project folder within that folder I’ll create another folder called inspiration. This is where all my reference material goes, then I’ll search for graphics, images and existing logos. There are countless websites to find this stuff. Pinterest dribble, Google Images Behance after I’m satisfied with my search.
I personally like to print my reference images out and keep them near me. As I begin the next step of sketching thumbnails here, you can pull out a sheet of paper or a sketchbook. I like to use this 7 by 10 sketchbook, it’s small and portable enough to go with me anywhere. It’s the perfect size for thumbnails. I often start out by writing the name of the company I’ll count. The number of letters I’ll write some key words that pertain to the mission words that help to guide the concept, then literally just start Scourge.
Creating thumbnails is like starting a conversation with yourself on a sheet of paper. Your hand in your eye, coordinate on the page to test out ideas, sometimes you’re, drawing on purpose actively fleshing out ideas from your brain to the pencil as you do so. You’ll discover other ideas by accident when the ideas come play around with them. Even if you think they’re bad ones, you may have to go through a hundred bad ideas before a good one jumps out at you.
You can also try to think, like your clients, audience repeat the name of the company in your head, as you draw to be sure that you’re staying true to the assignment. Think of how you can visually communicate to people that your clients, product or service, provides the answers that they’ve been looking for or solves their biggest problems? Okay, so this is the concept I’ve chosen. This will look great as a small icon on a mobile device.
It really captures the essence of the company name and purpose. Now we’re going to begin revising the concept we want to increase the scale of the brand mark and get super focused on the details of the design. I like to use a printer scanner to scale up. My thumbnail images so that it fits within a letter size sheet of paper. If you don’t have a printer scanner, you can redraw this by hand. The important thing is to be able to work on the design at a good size, so we’re going to revise this now using a tool that every designer or illustrator should have a light pad.
I got this on Amazon for, like 25 bucks I’ll, put a link in the description. If you want to pick one of these up for yourself, another trick you could do is use a window in the daytime to trace your design. But in the end, if you’re doing a lot of revising a light pad will be a good friend to have nearby. Okay, let’s put a clean sheet of paper on our scaled up. Thumbnail, put some painters tape on all four corners to hold it down and turn the light on now.
I’ll put some guidelines on here with blue pencil measuring everything. To be sure, I have perfect right angles. I also use the stencil to get some good curbs and a ruler for straight lines, and just like that we have a revised sketch. If this artwork was more intricate, I might decide to grab another clean sheet of paper and further revise it, and that is how I sketch a logo by hand to wrap up this article.
I will scan this into the computer, open it up in Adobe, Illustrator and digitally render it my friends, I hope that you found this article to be useful. It’s your voices so here bring is part two of the creating your mascot design, tutorial um, so yeah, referring obviously back in Illustrator, and I’ve also code this out. So I can just got ta. Give you guys the whole aspect, we’re talking me learning in today’s article here today. So it looks super doper. I got a nice little code scan going on. Of course, this is going to be an eagle, so I went with the white first kind of or white feathers and like the yellow, beak and like a nice little greenish, yellow gradient for like a stroke and also the eye color.
So, of course, we left often the same as I spot from last time where the line work was like this and if you guys wanted to look at that article, of course, just looking screws not below now just bring you back right to the line, we’re lighting. One babe yeah: well i’m norton article where basically, we took a picture correct and we just basically sort of like I showed you guys how to sketch it out or sort of like look for the shapes, and we came up with a nice little line.
Work here and then in today’s article, when we basically taking these line, works and just creating it into the actual mascot, so hopefully guys enjoy today’s article here, it’s date and yeah I violate. I appreciate it so very much the support from last last week’s article over like 200 X. He likes it was really really cool. I appreciate a lot. I guess you guys, like the webcam right. Here’s like seeing me.
I know, maybe it’s like that connection thing right. So hope you enjoyed today’s article and I’ll talk you in a second also. The lighting is a little weird from this article, because it’s actually a little darker outside it’s like 4:30 right now. So no we’re going to be like around the figure. Some Maggie, I did like some kind of light for like up here zone like that, but we’re okay for now. So alright.
So let’s get this thing going! Alright, let’s go! Let’s go all right, guys, let’s go and get this thing going so base. I have a really really nice little color, like hex color color scheme here, like I’m, going to give you guys off-course all these colors in the. I guess the process the article today, but for now just look: how really really nice, those colors look and they look even like better on the actual mascot.
So let’s go ahead and get this thing gone. Someone quickly just hide this and we’re going to uncheck this or basically get a nice little line, work picture here and now I believe this color here is basically the good color would like to use alright. So, like I said before, when you start off your color scheme, I would definitely like to recommend that, whatever your line, where color happens to be right, let’s just show you guys a little quick difference.
If your client work is just black, this, it’s going to be really hard for your mascot colors like really pop out and show that really nice even tone, rather than just having like a really harsh like a black line over your metal, a climber just I can Get it really quickly an explanation how I mean this is, if I just make this black look, how awkward my colors look, it might not look terrible to you, but doesn’t feel as smooth or as as just doesn’t feel it’s right.
Correct, like it just, doesn’t feel as right as this feels this. It feels like really nice and just good. So that’s I’m going to say about that. So just make sure you guys kind of find a really nice color for your line. Works actually get this thing going. So for me, I’m going to be using this hex code here, which happens to be 1 B, 1 D, 2, 1. And then it’s like a nice kind of like a blueish black tone, so that’s going to start off with this right so R.
At this very moment, I’m actually need to have my line work. I guess being a be clicked on, because we’re the first I’m going to be doing is actually creating our feather color or basically, our head color for the actual Eagle. So I’m going to do something: make a new layer right below the line work layer. Take my pen tool home write that my colors down there take our pen tool we’re just going to basically click around.
I can hide this for now. Just click around this actual face like make sure you don’t click on the inside, just like trying to follow this Anglophone like that, because the line work itself, the thickness of it it’s going to you’re, not going to see the actual colors besides, like you know, if You ever like got rid of the actual line, work right, sona, quick, let’s go around this just like so make sure I don’t try to hit in the white um.
Just basically go nice and around, as we can see it’s very simple and I just going to connect it right so for this little color here I choose this color right here, which happens to be a nice little offset white. It’s a has like some little blue tint on it as well. Just so I can match the actual black sort of blue tint. I have on the actual line work, so the hex code for this one is e v EI EI press.
Ok now this is our head card here, so you can, if you wanted to you’re, going to type and you type in head right and with them, of course, just high this layer really quick – and the second thing when I do is make another new layer and Then do the same exact thing for the beak color now I know for a fact that it’s going to be hard for guys to choose colors and the way I chose colors to what, as well as from here, is of course like like get inspiration right, google.
I don’t know like Eagle, mascot right and like find the colors that kind of worked and you’re like eyes when you see like two different colors like that and then also try to keep it like. I don’t know, the word is like anatomically correct. Is that how you say it, but like try to make sure you have like features like the nose itself, don’t make the nose purple that doesn’t really make any sense right? It’s it’s! A yellow beak right should keep it yellow or just keep it nice and like at least a example of yellow like this, is not like, like crazy, yellow ii won’t dulles, yellow right, but at the same time it’s still yellow.
It’s still like correct in a way as well, so make sure you guys don’t go crazy with colors and then try to make it so that it’s not as well as having the fur of the eagle itself like eagles, like they’re white, they have white fur. I mean, of course, my picture here is like a brown furred eagle, but I just know eagles as a Lightford, so I went for the white this time because I went for brown, but it’s kind of really hard for me like.
I know that fen likes a nice coating to use that just looks good, that’s very simple as well, so you don’t always have to find the best Brown. You can also just find like a nice offset white right. It looks good as well. So that’s my two colors right here, as you can see, looks really good so far, so well, I’m going to go ahead and do right now is before I do any of the highlights. I’m going to go ahead and show you guys how I did the quick little stroke around this actual Eagle here.
So I’m going to call this beak and then we’re going to make another logo Osumi another layer right here and we’re going to call this stroke line. So yeah, as I said before my other previous article, that if you guys looked at this line as a stroke line for like basically what’s going around your actual mascot with like the nice little color that I have and basically this one right here. Right like this blue here or this bluish greenish tone here um, that is not the sword.
Assuming this black is not the stroke line. This happens to be the actress rope line that goes around your mascot, so sometimes really hard for you to think about, because sometimes it’s like like they think of this is a stroke line. We just think it’s. This is if what they’re pen swing out? Well, that’s not actually the process right. It’s a lot different. We actually like understand what’s going on here, so I’m going to do.
Is I wan na use a stroke line layer here and I’m going to try to follow along as much as I want like as much as I can like I much much as I can right. So I’m going to follow on like over here now. The thickness of this is kind of fun. You can have a lot of fun with it. It’s like on your own. Let’s just go ahead and just like kind of follow this angle here, you’re going to see myself we’re going to see me following some angles and also just making up some item like some my own, so I’m going to do is I’m just basically like.
Let’s do something like this, but my mouse is like for some reason, weird and out right, I’ll, just follow this angle here, but besides everything is tire like same exact angle, like going all the way down going all the way going on all the way down. I’m just going to go down here right, I’m going to just make one right here and I’m just going to go all the way down here make one over here. This might be a little too far out all right, something like this, so I have to follow every single one of these, because this doesn’t really make too much sense it just.
I want it to be nice and cool and right here this angle here, let’s just make this followed all the way down here with a nice smooth transition, all trying to get this very even as possible come over here and then click just like so and then Basically, that is my little stroke line over here right now to keep it this yellow. As you know, I’m going to keep it that nice little greenish blue tint, let’s go ahead and make sure we just kind of like mess around a little bit like this angle.
Here is not falling too well here. So if you want to open your path again, just press alt on the path, it’ll open, back, open it back up and you basically click on any either like any point that you want to, and it gets really move it right. Very, very simply, these probably the student program move up a little bit so yeah, I’m not going to experiment or I’m not going to mess around too much, because that’s what I did my actual example one.
But as you can see, that’s what I’m going to go forward. That’s how I’m going to say it! It’s going to just stay like that for now, um yeah, that’s, okay, that’s alright! And so for this stroke here I basically use a gradient right. So I use a grading which is the middle actual color pickle, a color pickle, color, picker um. Besides, like this one right here right, this is your first solid color. The second one is the gradient and the last one is.
I turn it off right. So the middle one is the actual gradient, and if I want to go over here to my little gradient tab right here, you can see the colors that I use the hex code for the first color. All this like sort of green was 0 0 c. 5. 9 d and the second tone right here, my mouse is trippin out a little bit is 0 0 a 990, so just like. So I just have that nice little gradient there and it looks really really good with like a nice yellow and I sort of offset.
Why would the blue 10 on as well with also the blue tint on the black? So now I’m basically okay, I guess to start the little tread of the eye really quickly. Let’s do the eye really quickly as well, because I also matches the same color as the stroke color. So let’s go ahead, make another layer below or sees me above everything and call this the eye now. Just because I want to cheat a little bit and make sure I get it as close as house Mike on my example, we’re going to go ahead and just move that over here for a second, so I can get it so I can so what I basically Did was I kind of just made the I squinted now for me.
I probably even take this like line rehear, I’m just going to undo this really quick. So I can show you what I mean. I might even take this right here and kind of move, an experiment with this right here as well. Right, you see how, like, oh, that kind, one’s pretty good as well. Okay, see like little things like that might just make it make a look even a little better. So besides having a like a nice little loop like that cuz, I was going to make a solid full circle.
I but this time I wanted like something like this, and it looks really good with that little that little bit fix right there, maybe like the logo like all over again right. So I’m going to go ahead and do the same thing here. So I’m going to go ahead and I’m going to take my pen tool, my little eye layer, we’re going to go ahead and just click and we’re going to click and drag right to give a nice little loop here now right away, I’m just going to press On this anchor point here that has its nth extended point over here, it’s going to press on it and it’s going to obviously close it down.
So that way can just make a nice little curved one rate here right now, really quickly. We just make the code of the eye this colored here now. Let me also move this up a little bit and also drag this down a little more, so I can get a more thicker. I guess you can say, and let’s just experiment a little bit. Let’s just say like that angle: right there is okay. Now, the only difference here is that this eye has like a nice little just like straight loop, and that gives a little bit like a loop on the back inside of the eye.
So we had just been Lisa did that if I open up half up again, that’s going to basically move my handle over to the left little more. That way and get a nice little like see how that gets like a nice straight loop and then it gets really wide at the end, that’s kind of high. When I have it, you can always experiment as much as you can now. If you want, you, don’t have to have this super vivid like a dip like that, but I guess it is a little much like that.
Okay, so once I have this little thing here now, you might want to also move this up as well. So I get a nice little skinnier, so you can see how it’s like how it starts to form and how you guys kind of like understand what I went through for the process. I think that’s pretty accurate what I have over there, but for now, let’s just keep on going. So what ended up doing was right to get this little little eye thing to like actually has a little people with it.
Also, this right here is just two shapes: there’s not three shapes with this black here I just use negative space and then actually create this little eye here. So if I press L on my keyboard me up to the ellipse tool right here, if I just press li uh, simply press alt and shift wherever I click at so basically you guys don’t know if you hold shift. That, of course makes a perfect shape. Your perfect circle, or even your perfect Rex, in whatever shape you’re using on that ellipse tool, if you hold alt and also shift its going to keep it in the same exact orientation.
So this is me holding alt only instead of keeping the same exact place that I clicked at and once I hold shift as you can see, it makes it to a perfect circle. So that’s what you kind of want right here right. So I make myself a nice little circle and I’ll say like it needs to be fairly like big, something like this right. I think that’s okay, pretty good size all right, it’s close to the like left side or Susan right side, this I as possible and then basically, if I hold shift right, this layer is already selected.
This like this shape. Right here is a recent. I think if I want to just quickly click it off, if I hold shift right, you can click on this one that, in layers currently selected as you can see the outline also, if you hold shift it allows you to select multiple shapes. So I just I click on this. I shape right here that we just pencil as well, and now both these shapes our base is selected. One I end up doing now is press shift M on my keyboard, which we can do see the shape builder tool and, as you guys know from last time, if you hold alt, obviously deletes and if you hold up like, I guess, the non holding anything it Has a little plus button right next to the mouse right, so I just basically click right, as you can see like cuts it off and you just have it right there, but the reason I’m going to be using it.
It’s hold alt, while I have the shape builder tool open, and it deletes my my little shape just like so right. So I’m going to try to fix this now, a little bit more now that we have this kind of cut out, it’s not as bad. I just wanted to make sure it’s somewhat. Okay, all right now to get a little white part. Basically, what I end up doing was basically make another circle right, o shift just like so, and now I’m going to end up doing is throwing this behind.
Let’s see throwing this behind this layer here, because I’m going to make this white I’ll and just make sure I have that pretty even I’m going to make this the offset white that I have here. So if I open this layer up right here, I just have this ellipse here. I want to drag this right below that path. That way I haven’t behind it now ended up doing is taking my pen tool pen to hang out this angle here, just like so going around a little bit.
Click on that that we just created also the shape right here of the inside eye and then make sure this angle also follows there and there you guys go. We have the nice little eye here now. This is a little skinnier than this one, but of course, trial and error, fixes and stuff like that will make it look just a lot better right. I’m just going to fix this as well, because that looked pretty cool there.
We go all right sweet now. We got our eye done for that and I’m going to just basically quickly. Let’s hide this really quick move this back over to the middle, at least so we have it there again and then let’s just go ahead and do a little stroke lines now boom turn that all back on also this move over here there we go alright. So my stroke lines, I want to go ahead and say really quickly. I’m going to do this again and show you guys this one is usually when you think of highlights you think of like shadows, you always have to think of it as having it be like right here like this is offset way.
This is obviously the this highlight. Is a highlight to it? Basically, it’s oh, that was my phone. Don’t worry that was my phone with me also just quickly: okay or Wyman um anyway, let’s see so right. You have this offset weight here, and this is a white here. This is my obviously highlighted white, but forward my shadow. I didn’t actually go with like a grayish tone right now. Imagine right now, if I just undid this, and I changed this color to not the call that I have currently, but I think it was like a grayish tone which is basically like a shadowed color.
It looks okay right, but if it kind of gets rid of that nice cool, look that I had before where it feels like. I have multiple colors when I feels like I have a nice variety of colors. It doesn’t feel as just boring it away right. So what this little like, grayish tone, color just pops out all the other colors and it also obviously is a shadow because it’s the darkest color inside the actual heads like a little highlight right.
So with that being said, I what I choose your when you choose your shadow color, let’s say, but for whatever reason, let’s just make this brown for a second right, let’s just let’s we’re experimenting right now, just so I can give you guys are like an idea Right, let that’s that’s a pretty ugly brown, let’s just say like that: color right now, right and I’m going to say basically say. Usually, I would say, is if you press your eye and a keyboard rings, the actually the I like dropper tool and if you click whatever shape you’re on and then you click with the eyedropper tool on the color that you choose to.
You can select that color right. So if I want to select that brown, you can do that now. What you can do is coarse double click on this layer, color picker. While you have this obviously shaped selected. If you just bring this down a little bit, it makes it into like a shadowed color correct. So if you working with something like this was a color on top of another cup with a shadow, this is where you have to obviously experiment a lot more, but also don’t be afraid to like bring it down somewhere around here and then just see.
How that looks right now obvious looks really weird cuz. This is like that, and this is like that color. So, let’s just quickly figure out something like that right. You can see what’s starting to happen. This also colored needs to be this color. That was a little a little fix that I did great, so you can see what’s happening now right and just so I can see what happens. I make it like a full just different colors, so you can see what happens.
Let’s just make it orange. Maybe how would that look, not terrible, but it’s not that great, but let’s just let’s just say that happens right. So that’s what I say about using your shadows, don’t always make it like just a little darker. You might want to change. The color often make it like a nice obvious shadow darker cause, then the actual fur or feathers and then just kind of work with it right.
So I’m going to go back to my original color scheme. I just want to explain that really quick before actually get into it fully right, and here we go all right cool now we can hide that show all this stuff again and let’s get into the out little shadows here, right, okay, so new layer below the actual Line work but above the actual colors the solid colors is how going to your shadows, of course, right so going to make a new layer right above my B code or my head color and my stroke, color and then, of course, right below my line.
Work. Take my pen tool here and for this it’s sort of my I don’t have like a direction right. I just kind of like follow, like I’m also going to turn this off. While I do this, I was going to follow some angles here, so I’m going to. If I see an angle right here, I’m carving it’s going to go out again and they come in kind of thing. You might have to go back and fix and stuff like that, but that, of course, that’s going to come with after, like basically post of actually doing it and then trying to figure out what will look good.
What does not look great and then sort of like something like this? I might even go all the way down here. Try to change it up, just a little bit right. I probably follow this angle here right like a little indention here. It’s almost like a kind of like a you’re shadowing it you’re shadowing your line, work house I’ll, just call that for now right um. I know this whole thing by the way about how you post, like imagine, a light source correct.
Sometimes you have to think of it all the ways like that like for me, I’ve had success like selling premade stuff, like that, without the whole aspect, if they can give it as like, there’s a light source somewhere. I just put shadows on one side light on the other. That’s my simplest way to like describe it besides, thinking super hard about it and then whatever looks good to you honestly, it’s also whatever looks good to you.
Um, let’s go ahead and just say like this will just follow this angle over there’s well and then so I’m like that, and I think I stopped someone over here, my other one, so I’m going to do the same exact thing and as you can see here, It’s not, I didn’t actually do anything different anything special, I’m just going to distally cut over here and then also follow the inside of the line. Work that way, you’d have to also follow the entire outside right-click.
On this and the where’s my color scheme, it’s down here and also I know this – I just notice that it’s on still and it is which one this color right here right. So there’s my little gradient, I’m not creating color. Just my solid nice little darker color scheme for my shadow for the inside of these feathers are the Eagles feathers head right, the eagle’s head for the feathers there we go alright. So, let’s just say that looks pretty good now I can think like bring this over here as well.
Maybe a little more, I think in my actual one I actually went over here right, so I didn’t see like there’s a little trial error that has to happen, but for now let’s just keep you like that for now, and that’s all so just quickly to do A nice little shadow for this one right here on the inside of his face more and let’s just say like this, like this now, of course, I know I did this over again already so the way I picked it where I picked where I my shadows were Previously we’re just kind of like where I feel like there’s a lot of empty space at and where I feel like I needed to sort of fix it like fix a little bit of this empty space, I’m going to actually go around this way, this time and Say that looks pretty good.
Alright, okay, I’m okay with that, like the thickness as well. If your shadows want to be completely consistent, as you can see, they’re not crazy, consistent, but also gives a lot like a character, but also don’t make it very messy like right. Now I’m going back in and fixing a little bit like the angles here, make sure this angle kind of fouls on the outside with the shadow and then I’ll say this is pretty okay like so now, shadows are pretty much done like this is bothering me so Bad that I don’t actually finish it, let’s just go all the way over here right there we go cool there.
We go all right just so that can just get out the way cuz. It’s just bothered me so hard there. We go alright that’ll work, so there we go, there’s a little shadows right, that’s a shadow part and it’s going to quickly just go ahead and do a very simple, like mmm, like a very simple highlight, just get a little highlight in there right below his beak And we go around, we find a nice little beak for Sue’s a highlight color, which I think we just use solid white.
So that’s going to be right there again and then there we go for our little highlights and shadows on the actual head. So I’m going to go ahead and really quickly as well. Now it’s just finished off with a beak and it’s going to basically just use a different one. Cuz we’re going to use this from head shadows and highlights and highlights, and then we make another layer right above the beak or in below the alignment again.
And we just say I forgot where I put it on this one though, where did I put it? Okay, alright! Alright, let’s see alright, so we’re just start the same as I place again, something like right here right here, I’ll turn this off for now. Please please there we go alright, so we’re going to stuff like this we’re going to go around again and then we just go up a little bit and we’ll go below the line work here and let me take our nice little beak highlight coverage nice, a darker Color, of course, in the beak there’s going to be something like that right and then I also do a little simple it’ll highlight something like this right here.
Also my face is super yellow cuz this right here. Well, if I go to white, you see how that happens. Alright, just see you guys now umm just you can see right here like a little knoweth. How, if you have any nose, highlight give it like a little bit of a shadow. So what I’m going to do is I’m going to just basically click Ram David, nice, a nice little simple little shadow and that can like either make or break I like a little design or whatever, but it gives it just a little more just gives it that Little more or just it’s pretty cool honestly, and also when you saw me do my actual other scheme here was I made a little correction here for like the little line work, so I ended up doing was making a layer right.
I just would. I would just follow on a different angle, because if you try to fall the same angle, trying to get the same exact angle, starting in the middle like right here, if I wanted to try to start here, check out the same exact angle. No matter. What’s going to look weird, so if you’re going to do something like a little correction, just give it like a nice little centimeter or so and then correct it.
So I can make it look something like that. I also use that color there and you see this little weird part here, move it up a little bit there. We go nice little correction, there, that’s what I did in the actual uh preview as well. So as you see this little shadow here looks pretty badass. I like how that looks. Why can’t I click on it? Well, because it’s this one right, there we go, so I I’m going to pretty much say that this is our our mascot.
That’s our mascot! It’s pretty much done so. It took me like about twenty-one minutes to do this, but of course the whole asks like a thing about it. How would your clothes going to be all that kind of stuff? It’s probably not at a 20 minutes rights going to take you a couple days. Maybe it’s in case a couple hours inside the actual illustrator folder. So hopefully you guys enjoy today’s article today.
Now I’m going to put something in the description down below which it’s kind of like a color, picker kind of randomizer, and also it kind of gives you different highlights. You can see different highlights in the actual screen before you actually try to create them inside your little web color picker. Here I forgot what it’s called from the top of my head. That’s I’m going to say I’m going to leave in the description below, but hopefully you guys do enjoy today’s article here today.
Hopefully guys enjoy. Oh, like I know, I said before the whole face camp thing: I’m obviously you guys are enjoying it cuz. You guys are just killing it. You guys love it. So very much lem me just put this in a folder or one full layer to call it done and I’ll call this tutorial head eagle. I could’ve went with eagle when I went with head whatever anyway, so we can enjoy today’s article. I will talk to guys in the next week’s article.
I don’t know. What’s going to be, I think it’s going to be we’re going to go back to batter, tutorials and I’ll, probably just come back in a little design, because I’m having a lot of fun, I got a lot of interaction. It’s just it’s just all around good time. With you guys, when it comes to logo design and hopefully guys do enjoy today’s article, this definitely out beats my last. Like 911 article mine’s probably mask up stuff like that, but I’m going to I’m going to come back to this article and be like dude.
This is not as good as I thought, but right now, I’m thinking it’s really amazing, because that’s where my right now this is where I’m at right now and as he goes, if you guys got like 9 with that, like 9 months back, that’s where I was At with mask I design as Ben – and I thought that was amazing, so this progression using see. That’s why I think, like the beauty of my blog, is I just kind of show you guys the progression of where I’m at and you guys know every single thing how I think of it and what I do, and I really I appreciate that you guys that You appreciate it right, so I’m going to go, get going, it’s not too late.

He was necessary. So here’s the next article and wait you out peace, don’t forget to keep smiling stay positive and stay freakin, productive guys later.
I actually started my career in Milwaukee Wisconsin and my dad’s commercial art studio. I worked for him all during high school in college and I eventually took over his design firm and then I moved to Atlanta and kind of kept it going. I’ve been a freelancer, I’ve been independent for about the last ten years. I work in both print and web design and I’m kind of a logo fanatic.
I do a fair amount of logo design. I’m glad to see you guys here today, I’m hoping this will give you a lot of useful tips. I’m going to ask that you hold questions till the end of my schpeel and then we’ll talk, and then I have a handy handout for you all. So thank you. So I’m going to start off with kind of an existential question, which is: why have a logo anyway, we’re going to talk a little bit about logo versus branding versus brand identity and what that all means? Okay, basically, a logo is a graphic symbol that represents the essence of a person, company or organization when people say crisp, clear and professional logo on your website.
It conveys credibility and authority. It establishes your business or organization as a high-quality, trustworthy entity, and it offers nonverbal reassurance that visiting your site is going to be worthwhile. Brand identity is a combination of how you define and promote yourself and how others see you. Your logo is just one very important element of your organization’s brand identity. Everything you do is to build awareness and reputation around your company and its product or services, and that creates branding brand identity is the collection of your business assets that includes your logo print materials.
Your vehicle signage pens, your website, header, your social media, icons that helps to create your brand image, so here’s an example of a consistent and well-planned brand entity that I’m sure is familiar to most people. Mercedes-Benz is a brand identity that exudes elegance style and quality and definitely a certain price point. So it’s really important for your logo to be consistent. It’s really important because if your logo gets distorted, if it’s reproduced in a hodgepodge of random colors, if it loses its original typeface, that all will dilute your brand, it weakens your brand recognition and makes you look unprofessional when you’re trying to build brand recognition.
It can be confusing to your audience if you use a lot of different versions of the logo, so consistent, colors, typefaces and shapes help. Your potential client remember your business and that helps to forge a connection. People are more likely to choose brands that are familiar because they seem known established and therefore trustworthy. Your brand identity gets delivered through all of your assets, from your business card to your website to social media sites, to the branded holiday gift that you give to clients.
So a strong logo should do the following. I’m just checking my slide numbers here. It should embody your brand, be instantly recognizable, be versatile and be timeless, and by that I mean just not so trendy that in two years time it looks really dated the FedEx logo. Is a really good example of a strong, consistent logo, it embodies its brand and you can see the the white arrow that’s in between the E and the X.
It’s kind of a little subliminal, very strong little element that they have it’s recognizable, versatile and timeless. It has a consistent look through all media when you, when you see a FedEx van or FedEx envelope, it all has the same look even though there are different iterations of this logo, as you can see here, the three different versions. So let’s talk about the key elements of an effective logo and, let’s start off with typography there we go, a logo can be purely typographic or it can include a visual element.
A logo is called the logo type or word marked, when only the letters of the name make up the logo and there’s no symbol. The lettering itself becomes the visual a text only word mark logo is fine, but only when you do it with styling and sophistication. You certainly don’t want to design that logo in Microsoft. Word using x, roman, really don’t be doing that. Here’s a few examples of some very recognizable word marks and then there’s one that I did for a client recently on the upper right, she’s an event planner and it was just type only but kind of the whimsical feeling and the colors it all kind of contributed.
It worked well on her website and she was able to use it easily on social media. A logo mark includes a visual element or an icon, along with the business name. Here’s some examples. These are some examples. I’ve designed for clients in the past, taking into account their desired brand message and their color preferences, your choice of typeface and the visual element needs to be distinctive and speak clearly to the world.
It’s sort of a an atmosphere that you create you’ll notice, the different typefaces, the different colors. Each of these clients had a little different objective in mind in the case of the one on the lower left Anna Mae’s pantry, that shape became sort of the iconic element of her restaurant and her website and everything associated with it. It had sort of a homey, down-home country feeling, and she showed me a shape similar to this.
So when we created this logo, we started with a text-only version and then we embedded it in this shape and the shape kind of became the holder. So it became very much part of her whole identity she’s all over Instagram. If you want to check her out, you’ll see a lot of pretty things and they all incorporate that logo and she’s actually started using this logo to sell branded items kind of like a Martha Stewart situation where she’s got like cutting boards and utensils, and they all Incorporate that logo, because that worked well for her.
So how about, if you have no typography at all, just imagery recognized brands like Nike and Starbucks, don’t really need to show their name because their symbols are so iconic. We’re so used to seeing them that over time, they’ve stripped away the name of their company, the symbol is recognizable people just kind of fill it in in their head, because you’ve seen it over and over most small businesses or startup businesses can’t get away with that.
You kind of need their name and possibly a tagline explaining what they do, but in the case of these Giants you all are used to seeing this. So a logo can tell a memorable story. I’m going to talk for a minute about NBC, which was originally known as the peacock Network. They used an illustration of a stylized peacock. In 1956, the peacock itself became a marketing tool with the tagline brought to you in living color.
This was at the very start of color television. Nbc was hoping that people tuning in to the state and to NBC stations would be motivated to purchase color TV sets to see the Living Color and they used the peacock. As that example, and over the years the peacock has evolved into this newer, digitized kind of shape, and it has a certain logic to it. Now it has a six colored tail, which represents the six different departments of NBC.
The peacock is facing right and that’s supposed to show that the network has a bird’s eye view of the future. So let’s talk about the next big element in logo, design, which is color. I always recommend creating a distinctive color palette that you’ll use consistently on all materials, and that includes accent colors on your website. You have to find out if your client has existing colors or possibly a branding guide that you need to follow, or are you starting from scratch? This will definitely have an impact on the work you need to do on your website and other media color choice should reflect what works for your audience.
Color is a subjective factor, but it always should serve a business purpose. It needs to be determined objectively. There should be a thoughtful strategy for color selection and you need to think of the various formats and and media it’s going to be used in, and you need to make sure it’s always going to be legible and reproducible. A recent University study concluded that color can boost brand recognition by 80 percent.
A lot of memorable logos use a single color scheme, but if you plan to use more than one color make sure the end result isn’t a logo that was confusing or busy. So here’s an example of a very simple branding guidelines. It’s just a one-pager that I did for my company some time. Larger businesses or corporations will have a multi-page PDF they’ll have files and Dropbox for vendors and and internal people that download.
This is just a very simple, showing different options and it’s a good reminder for myself: you’ll notice that I have the different color breakdowns. The first line is for color process. The next color is a hex code for web and the next color talks about PMS color. So I’m going to get to that in just a minute. Those different breakdowns. One thing to keep in mind is that color tends very certain color schemes look dated today, but we’re hip and trendy when they first came out, so you can think about the harvest.
Gold and avocado colors that were really big for appliances back in the 70s and 80s. So you need to always keep in mind that what’s really cool today, it might look really dated tomorrow. So this is an example on the right. The Tiffany logo is a timeless trademark, color and actually, interestingly enough, the Pantone PMS color for this fertility 18:37 is the PMS color and that’s the year that Tiffany was founded.
So when your big guns, like Tiffany, you get to have your own Pantone color, let’s move on so talking just touching very briefly, you could do a whole page seminar, all about color psychology, but just remember that color is subjective. It can have different effects on readers. Colors that might work well in our North American culture might convey something completely different to Japanese, South American or Middle Eastern users.
Even though we’re in a global economy, color associations and preferences will vary so you’re going to want to do a little research. If you have an international brand, so talking a little bit about color psychology, red implies passion, energy danger or aggression, warmth or heat. It’s also been found to stimulate appetite, which explains why it’s used in so many restaurants and food product logos.
I always think ketchup. You know Heinz, but you can see there’s different, there’s different kinds of companies that use red and, and not all of them are food-related. It’s just interesting when you’re out and you’re buying products just kind of pay attention to the colors that trigger you. What impulse it causes to make you want to buy so the color green is often used when a competent when a company wants to emphasize natural or ethical credentials, especially with products like organic and vegetarian foods.
Green also implies growth and freshness, and it’s very popular with financial products. Also, the implication of growth. Blue is one of the most widely used colors and corporate logos. It implies professionalism, trust, integrity, sincerity and calm. Blue is associated with authority and success and for this reason it’s popular with both financial and government websites, so remember for maximum impact.
It’s always good to stick with a single color or two color palette when creating a logo. However, there are some very successful multicolored logos, so the implication of multiple colors in the logos you see here is that these companies are offering a wide variety of products and services for the Olympic rings. The multiple colors sort of give a message of diversity and inclusivity, and now we’re going to go to imagery a little bit and how to select imagery for your logo.
So it’s really important that your imagery is non generic memorable and communicate your business personality. That doesn’t mean you have to buy expensive customized illustration every time, but it does mean that you want to avoid generic overused. You know banal images that you’ve seen in a lot of places. Readability is really important. You always want to make sure there’s proper contrast between the logo and its text and the background that it’s going to be against recognition and clarity are huge.
A pale logo type face against a pale background. It will be hard to read and very confusing, keep in mind that icon type images very simple flat color are great for social media, so current trends and logo design our unusual typefaces but readable, geometric shapes social media, ready like flat iconic images, bright flat, colors and Gradient colors and overlays you’ve seen these like feathered, colors gradient.
I think I have some examples we’ll get to that in a minute. So here’s a like three logos that people are pretty familiar with that have been redesigned in the last couple years to look great on social media. These are the before versions and here’s the after, so you can see how things got simpler. Popular effects like you, look at Instagram sort of the realistic and the kind of shadowy edge, and all that everything kind of stripped out now and kind of today when people are viewing things on social media on a mobile device.
These are a lot more effective. A lot cleaner, clearer to read the master card. One is also another good and you can see that it doesn’t look like a big change, but it’s pretty pretty major. So, just a quick not to be negative but overused clipart be careful, be very careful of free I’ll get to that in a minute. Poor quality or illegible typefaces, like my personal pet peeve, all caps italic with a black outline and a drop shadow in regards to free art, clipart included, always always always check on copyright limitations.
There’s so many royalty-free image sites now online you can go and for very small amounts of money. You can purchase something and then in if you buy vector art, you can manipulate that in Adobe Illustrator or you can hire an illustrator to help you cand logos from stock sites. I see this a lot in real estate where somebody essentially bought. It was a house with some fake type underneath and they fixed it.
That has a really cheap unprofessional effect, and I would avoid it at all costs and just remember that people have really short attention spans and your logo needs to speak to them and kind of convey a feeling and be instantly understandable in a matter of seconds and Most of all, don’t use clipart that your client found in Microsoft Word because that’s not a logo. I’ve been there and just pretty scary.
So here’s a few tips how to help your logo work for you and work hard for you on the web. It’s a good idea to take the colors and typeface that you’ve been using in your logo and kind of echo it in the website, so everything’s kind of cohesive and belongs together. You want to connect visually and also use your logos, colors on your social media sites and, of course, on print materials. Make sure that your logo, colors and typefaces are consistent.
I just I’m a little obsessed with this, because sometimes you’ll have vendors, who will tweak things to fit the embroidery method they have for the baseball cap or the silkscreen that they’re doing on the t-shirt, and you really kind of have to be the logo police. For that, because it will affect your brand recognition, your logo also needs to support the general vibe of your site. What’s appropriate, I mean clearly a logo for a funeral or a corporate law.
Firm isn’t going to be the right kind of feel for a logo that you’re going to do for a nightclub or a florist. Next, I’m going to talk a little bit about. Where should the logo appear on your website, so the header of any website? That’s where your visitors likely will first see your logo, it’s a strategic part of real estate and it’s a great interaction starting point for your website. Users are 89 percent, more likely to remember logos that are in the traditional top left position than logos that are on the right and there aren’t you don’t see that too much anymore logos on the right.
The most common design position for logos on a web page is the top left corner and it serves as a landmark that Orient’s users, when they first land on the page it helps them, identify the website they’re visiting and they’re, more likely to recall the brand name. When the logos on the Left versus center or right apparently from my research, centered logos on the website might slightly negatively affect usability, but not as much as a right aligned.
Logo. The location of a centered logo is not, as far removed from the expected left position than a right-hand logo and centered logos. I think you’re, seeing that more and more now, because of responsive web design, the mobile first designs that people are doing now very typically you’ll have a non mobile view. You’ll have the hamburger or the menu kind of appear in one corner and then the logos in the middle, so that’s kind of driving, where the logos position also on the desktop version.
The Warby Parker great company for glasses. It used to appear on the left side of the website header. I think I showed you that there it is, and then, when you see it on the mobile view, it’s now centered we’re so used to the upper left or centered logo positioning that is kind of jarring to see it on the right. I saw that this is like a, I think, a fiend demo, and it just looked strange to me. I guess you know just not accustomed to that, so the dreaded requests as a graphic designer I’ve been living with this for many years can we make the logo bigger, guess what bigger is not better? A lot of clients like to see their logo really really big, but in truth, smaller logos are most commonly seen and expected on the web.
Bigger is not better and guess what users aren’t browsing your website to become familiar with your logo. It’s just a landmark. It’s just a guidepost they’re, coming there to check out your services. So if your message appears halfway down the page because of the giant logo, there’s a chance, you could lose the potential customer and an overly large logo could make your website look kind of amateurish.
Make sure your logo is flexible, that you can use it in various formats, including social media and mobile. Viewing a lot of companies will take a single letter or their graphic element from their logo and use that for their social media, icon an uncomplicated logo with just a few colors stands out best online and again, you need to keep in mind when you’re designing a Logo or you have a client logo that you may need to do different versions for different usages, for example, if your logo is really horizontal, it works great on your website header.
You might want to adapt it into a square shape, or maybe vertical, for a business card or for social media usage. It’s good to keep that in mind up front. So again, just using me my company as an example, we have a few versions of the logo on the upper left. You can see we have the complete logo with our tagline, so this tagline goes away as you see on the lower left. If it’s used really small and that could be in print or online like if I use, if I did this like on a pen or on a tiny post-it up, I don’t need to include that tagline.
This would be minuscule, nobody will be able to read it at the upper right is the background we use for our Twitter kind of landscape image and that’s using our asterisk icon of our logo and a tenth of the color that the attempt of the aqua color Against the solid aqua color and that’s just part of the color branding for my company and at the lower right, is the coral color asterisk that I use full-on for emphasis for bullets for accents on different materials.
So I it makes it a little more versatile and a little more playful here. This is from our packages page on our website. Just shows how we use the asterisk icon and actually these little icons when you first get to the page they kind of move. They look like little dancing like jacks from that you know from the game. This is where we describe different service packages and again just trying to be a little more whimsical and colorful, and here’s how we use it on the business card and again, the asterisk is pale.
It’s used as a watermark against a solid background and we’re going to talk just a little bit here about favicons. So pelicans are small 16 pixels square icon files that are displayed next to the URL of your site in a browsers address bar they’re, usually except they will be displayed next to the name of your site in the users list of open tabs and bookmark listings, and That makes it easier for the user to identify your site.
Well-Designed favicons are styled to match the logo or theme of your website, and that way, once again, users have a quick and easy way to recognize your website and here’s the nimble design, team favicon. So the favicon is small but mighty. It plays a subtle role in building the brand on your website and when visitors see it, they know, they’ve come to the right place a little bit here about logo file creation.
I always recommend that logos be created in vector art in adobe illustrator that way vector art allows you to enlarge things like ginormously or shrink it down really tiny without losing the integrity or the resolution of the image. If something is made up in Photoshop, it’s a JPEG or raster file, it’s made up of pixels and if you blow it up really huge like put on a billboard to the side of the building, it’s going to end up looking fuzzy.
So sometimes people will come to me and all they have is a gif or JPEG and typically will read R. I will just redo it as vector art, because that’s kind of the the base for everything else you’re going to be doing in the future. When you create your original file in Adobe Illustrator, you also set up colors for various file formats and usages. Here’s just a window showing you this is in Photoshop.
You can see I just kind of circled the CMYK down here that cyan magenta, yellow black. That’s a typical printing kind of, or digital output for print, the Pantone color selection would be shown in the color libraries area. You would click on that and that would take you to Pantone and Pantone has both coated and uncoated versions, depending on what kind of paper you’re printing it. Sometimes you have to be a little bit creative with color conversions, because it’s not a complete things that look perfect and to PMS colors printed on a business card may not interpret directly to the web.
The web uses hex colors, which means it’s hexagonal hexadecimal means it’s a six digit combination of numbers and letters. There are a lot of free online conversion tools. You can look around that will help you figure out how to convert from one color format to another. You can also do it inside a Photoshop and illustrator. Rgb is a color profile, that’s used in digital design and it represents the colors used on computer screens, TVs and mobile devices.
I typically when I create a logo in Adobe, Illustrator I’ll start in CMYK or Pantone and then later we’ll play with the hex colors on the website, and I think that’s kind of it except I’ll, take questions in a minute. If any of you would like to do a quickie logo review with me or you’d like to talk to me about anything, wordpress related or logo or graphic design related I’ll, be at the happiness bar right after here until lunchtime, I also have a really great little Handout, you say: Do It Yourself, branding audit checklist and it’s kind of fun, so stop up here afterwards and I’ll hand.
One to you also, if you visit my website, please sign up for my email newsletter. I send something out every month, not necessarily logo or graphic design related. Typically, it’s a wordpress related and here’s. My contact info I’ll be happy to take questions. Thank you, yeah, Karen. Yes, where am I oh yeah, so I oh here we go so, for example, yeah. So I yeah I’m still I to be honest when I I used that very sparingly, because that script is not the most readable, but it’s kind of fun.
It may change in the future. This was my. This was a huge just to give some background about a year and a half ago I was not nimble design team. I was, I had a name for my design company that was based on my previous husband’s name, and I had sort of this revelation sitting in a parking lot on a rainy Sunday afternoon, and I decided to change my business name, my logo, my colors. We are in the middle of a website class of judy night and I was going to change my web and I called Judy – and I said I I’m freaked out.
I need to change everything and she said you know what go for it. So being a logo designer you know at heart I went home that night and on a Saturday evening I just did the logo colors got it all going and then we started playing on the website. So to me my website and most the websites, I’m working on. That’s like a work in progress. What I love about the web, it’s not like carved in stone! It’s not a print brochure that got printed last week and the client called you up on a Sunday night at ten o’clock that there’s a typo.
In the second paragraph you can change you, can you can get feedback? You can alter things. I like it. Is it the most readable thing for headings? That’s about the most amount of words. I would ever use with that typeface to me it’s more of a headline kind of font. I think it looks great for the word nimble. The colors for me were kind of a riff on Fiestaware kind of 1950s. And again, if you go to my website on my blog, I’ve got posts and those are all from my MailChimp email newsletters and I talked about the color.
Their color is super suggestive, so subjective, sorry subjective. So a person my age might react differently than somebody who’s. Like twenty-two, but I did some kind of some like random casual testing and it got a good reaction. Many times when I’m working with a client on a logo, they have a committee, they have a board, they have corporate branding guidelines you really are held in. I worked on something not long ago actually for Emory hospital in Atlanta.
They just built a gorgeous new, huge addition to the hospital and they were going to have this big fancy kick-off party, and I did these layouts and they’re really happy and we got it like almost to the point of production, and then somebody realized that it looked Too, similar to something their competitor, a different healthcare system like there was some element, there’s some little like rainbow thing or something going on, and they just Nix the whole thing, and it a lot of people saw that including the president of the hospital I mean it Was just there’s things that are sometimes in your head and your memory in your personal database, and you have to be really careful that when you design or when your clients designing that it’s not about your personal expression, I mean graphic design and web design.
It’s all to me: it’s a visual problem solving and communication. So you have to put your ego aside even on your own website, if it’s not speaking to your users or speaking to your defined audience, that’s just not working. You know it might make. You feel good for a couple minutes, but not working. That’s right! Yeah for accidents yeah! I I didn’t set up like Wi-Fi or anything here, but yeah. I I think if you go there, you’ll poke around and you’ll see it’s just to me.
It’s kind of logical that that you’ve you’ve got this color palette. You’ve got sort of a look, and it establishes a branding and identity for yourself that you should carry. You should carry it out. The logo should not be a standalone that just kind of has its own little world everything kind of orbits around this brand that you’re building and it’s really important. If other people are like vendors or other people in your company, they’re playing with it, you need you really need to stay.
On top of, there needs to be a central place where you say: here’s the files for this and by the way, no, you can’t put it on a pink leopard background. You know or neon yellow, because that’s not going to work. So yes right so yeah. So when I’m working on logo projects for clients, I will do versions and sometimes what you think looks great in color and then you just create a grayscale version. It’s like, oh, my god.
It kind of have to recreate it and pick the grays and pick how deep is the black and it’s funny, because so even ten years ago I mean my career goes back way farther than that so gradients back in the day and early versions of Photoshop sprayed Ian’s would go like this, so it was like kissing death. We had a print folder. We did once and had a beautiful like deep teal up to white. It was so hard to get that thing to work, but remember that was back in the day of offset printing and and dots and and it’s everything today is so radically different because of digital, and I think, because a lot of things that you’re seeing now our Online only are in mobile and you don’t have that printing problem and I would say if I had a gradient logo and I wanted – and I was worried about that – I would just kind of gang a bunch of different samples and who’s ever printing it for you.
I would have them just output. Just do a piece of digital output, so we can show the client here’s what it looks like gradient gradient. Here’s what it looks like when I kept it in two PMS colors: here’s where I converted it ahead of time to CMYK. Here’s black only and – and you can make a judgment call – I think gradient – isn’t much less of an issue now than it used to be a lot of things. I mean I’ll tell you like it’s really back in the day, but we used to do everything in like Pantone one Pantone, color and one black color, because that was the most economical to color printing offset printing on a two color press.
Well, nobody’s I mean two color presses. Now are a dusty and dusty backrooms I mean there’s some usage like if you’re an Emory hospital or coca-cola, and you have your designated Pantone color. You are going to print in two colors or three PMS colors, whatever most people today are going to print using digital output, so whatever your, whatever the file, is you’re giving to the printer that digital device, that machine is interpreting your colors into its colors, which are Cmyk and even that think about it, it’s it’s not ink.
It’s it’s like powder, or whatever I mean it’s, not it’s not an offset machine where you read the guy dump the bucket of Pantone 285. You know it’s just it’s radically different. So I like to be cautious – and I like to test and even when I’m showing mock-ups, if client, if the client has a presentation – and it’s really crucial, like in the case with some of my bigger clients like Emery, I’m not going to trust FedEx Office or My own color printer to show a proof: I’m going to go to the printer, whose altom utley doing their work and they’re going to output it and they’re going to output it on the actual paper stock.
Because another thing that happens a lot in the world of printing – some of you may not know this, but the brightness of the paper color can affect the outcome of your color. There used to be a very popular thing, I think. Back in the 90s, everybody was printing on this, like eggshell, ivory, cream stock and a lot of times with, like weird brown ink. I you know, I’m glad that trend is over, but in any case, if you print a color in a CMYK conversion on a beige ivory cream stock, and then you compare it to a bright white radically different and even when you’re picking.
If you’re ordering business cards online, you go to like mu or vistaprint or the peppermint printing there’s a lot of good sites. What you see on your computer screen, it’s not what you’re going to get so sometimes it makes it makes a difference. It’s worth the cost to have them actually: output, it and mail. You a physical piece. If it’s crucial to your branding, it will look different. The interpretation of your colors will vary and and kind of a luxury on the web is it’s on the web.
It’s there. No one’s going to print it unless you’ve got a PDF attached to see an annual report and then somebody you don’t know what they’re printing it out on. Maybe they’re printing out on a crappy. You know sixty dollar inkjet printer, it’s not going to be the same. I mean what a client says to you: oh I just printed it out. I love it. Let’s give it to the printer. Well guess what they’re inkjet printing device is? Not the high end digital output, that your printers going to supply and they might end up being disappointed so always in the world of print.
You always want to output and compare and show yes Megan yeah, so yeah right, yeah, so colorblindness is, is something to definitely consider, and I personally need to read out more on that, because there are certain colors that a large part of the population doesn’t see, and So that’s that’s not part of my presentation, but that’s an accessibility issue and definitely worth reading up on. What I like to tell the client is what you’re seeing on your monitor is not what I’m seeing on my monitor and we need.
I mean it’s like the testing that you’ll do want to on a new website you’re looking at different devices, different mobile. You know Android iPhone tablets, PCs Macs. It’s going to look different throughout, so I’ve never had a really tricky issue with like a large corporate client about color, I have a feeling our whole in-house departments dealing with that like if your in-house design at coca-cola, I have a feeling that there’s a very tricky Formulas that are probably shared internally for that.
I am really cautious about making sure the client understands that what they see is not necessarily what their customer will see or that the output will be exactly matching. What I mean I’m just. I try to make that clear because we’re we’re all using different devices now and the kind of proofing we did. You know back in the day, looking at very expensive chrome, illan prints that were output with multiple layers of film and there was a whole art.
I mean ever they’re craftsmen, you know fixing things like pixel by pixel that that’s just gone so most of my clients now don’t even want us. I mean we used to do annual reports and we would make these gorgeous beautifully output. Dummy mock-ups multi-page look just like a printed book and it was very expensive. Now we just sent a multi-page PDF and they’re, probably just looking at it online or printing it out on their cheap printer and they don’t really care.
But when you have something that’s really crucial for color like if there’s a newsletter and there’s pictures of people I had this recently, the client was in a big rush. We did this 20 page newsletter got it done. The photos were crappy. I tweaked it a little bit. There was no time and then the printer out put it, and it was embarrassing because again what I saw in my monitor there wasn’t time to see their proof, their digital proof and if I’d been the client.
I would have been very unhappy with the final output flesh tones people of color shadows a lot of times. You need to have somebody who’s, a professional of Photoshop retouch, or do that kind of work? For you, I mean many times I’ll, be honest with you. A lot of the logos I work on just for inspiration for rough concept, I’ll show the clients something that I will literally kind of trace off of a stock image site just for an idea.
I don’t have it here, but I have a client called Andrew hall living she’s, actually she’s, the lady behind the anime’s pantry that logo, with that kind of funny shape so she’s, a very interesting entrepreneur in Atlanta she’s, an african-american woman and she’s. Creating this personal brand called Andrew Hall living it’s kind of like Martha Stewart Living, so she sent me this sketch that she did on a napkin.
It had this really gross looking like bumble bee and some funny lettering, and I got it. I she wants a queen bee and she wants script lettering and it’s got to be really legible and it’s got to look elegant because she’s probably going to end up like gold, foiling it and using it on all kinds of cool like aprons and tchotchkes. So I redid it for her just using a very simple stock image. I found a butt queen and I purchased this queen bee and I said I think this is the direction you want and actually on one of my blog posts.
I I described the whole thing. I described the process how we did this, so I showed it to her. She said yeah you’re in the right direction. So then I have an illustrator this guy’s, like he’s, not a person who should talk to a client, but he said he’s a great illustrator Photoshop guy. I’m happy to recommend him to anybody here and I sent him my rough layout with. I knew the script I had the typo set up.
I had this kind of crappy be, and I said I need you to clean this up. Here’s the style I need it done in and he came back in like two hours and his beautiful, more customized queen bee and it’s very elegant. And if I was her I’d be using that logo everywhere and eventually just use that be because it’s really distinctive and it it has a really nice feeling with it with a script. I’m sorry, I didn’t include it here.
This slide shows a little older than that logo is, but that is becoming her personal brand, and so you should think about your business, your whatever it is that you’re doing your company if you’re a solopreneur like I am in a way it kind of becomes your Personal brand as well, so you you want to be proud of it. You want to feel like it’s, not something that everyone’s seen before and that same typeface and that same image has been used by thousands of other people.
It’s good to keep that in mind. Yes ma’am, so some logos of clients have had their their logo is kind of complicated and it’s hard to figure out. What are we going to do for that? Little favicon and I might take an element and then tweak it a little like make it solid color. So it’s not gradated, so it’s not sixteen different shapes that have to be jammed into 16 pixel square area. I like to think about that, because I’m always thinking to like, what’s what’s going to look, look good on social media.
You know something that’s recognizable and simple and clean and professional. We have two minutes left. Do you have any more questions? Yes, sir? So I usually do a little research like I’ll Google that online and see what’s all out there and then run in the opposite direction. You know if everybody’s using, like I don’t, know a stethoscope or a heart or a lip bar graph of like a you, know, heartbeat just step away and think of maybe different words, even Google’s different phrases or just you know for me, oddly, what really works the Way my mind thinks is I’ll, be in the shower I’ll, be sleeping I’ll, be driving in my car, and I like to keep a little notepad with me I’ll, take pictures of like wow, that is a cool logo or I’ll pull over to the side of the Road and like yeah, that is really cool and I’ll, take a photo, and it becomes some of my personal little library.
Slash database also run it by people who you respect. It’s it’s so easy to be cliche, because sometimes the client wants you to be cliche because they think that’s what speaks to the customer base and also keep in mind if it’s a local or regional or based in your area. I did something for the Georgia Charter. Schools, Association and we actually ended up incorporating sort of a stylized peach for Georgia.
The peach became part of one of the letters I mean even think about that. If it’s a real specific geographic area that that can work for different types of companies, I hope that helps yes, first of all, first of all, don’t let them drag you down the path of I need to see another 30 versions don’t go there, that’s bad! I think you might need to talk and strategize before you continue showing version after version.
I mean what what’s going on in their head. Is it because their wife likes it? Is it because their kid did it 20 years ago, there’s what’s up with the partner or are they are they new and are they coming from a background where they have this logo? They designed at their previous company, maybe get a little more info. I’ve dig a little bit because sometimes there’s certain colors or typefaces or imagery that trigger a positive or a negative response, and just like you do with website design rather than like leap into we.
You know we designers love our things, our visuals our stuff, but maybe before you go there just step back and do a little strategizing and research with them, questioning otherwise you’re going to go down logo, design, hell and you’re going to be like okay version number 52.8. You know no just and we’re going to wrap now I guess, but just to tell you when I take on a logo project, I will tell them there’s going to be three possibly five initial concept, layouts.
That is a three to five after that narrow it down to your top two after that, okay, you, like that typeface with that that you know you go from like three to five to two to one and then we finesse the one and we’re done. Don’t don’t go there, I mean unless they’re paying you tens of thousands of dollars which probably not likely but anyway, if any of you’d like to talk to about logos or anything else.
WordPress related I’ll I’ll beat the happiness bar till lunchtime and thank you so much.
It is invoice. Suppose you bring out the other articles here today bring us another mascot, as I tutorial health kind of article going on yet again, so I know you guys, love these articles and I’m very very happy because of course, I’ve been getting really good at math. Designing at least I feel like I’ve, I’ve been practicing a lot so yeah one thing I did not do my actual mascot designs.
Poor up, you guys have you have to see that I actually create your own mask on design, sketching the process and also like putting an illustrator stuff like that. It’s a put the link in description down below for you guys to read this very, very good article. Very informative. I really like it London to seem to like it as well. So of course, I’m going to continue so one thing I did not do, however, was actually apply.
The text and I kinda like finalized a logo away just because for me specifically doing mask. I designed one up. One thing that it could not do was the simplest part which I would feel feel like. Theoretically, think is the text, and I couldn’t just seem that actually, like, I guess, apply the text or how looks like it was still in the lowers. I like right here, the Texas – I guess, what’s in the actual logo, design that wasn’t added previously, it felt like it was added.
You know, like you know, like thought about. You know I mean, but this was just added like a nice quick little text in it. It works. I really like how I’m going to do this. I’m not sure, gets this today right here right now and I think the possible, using by the way, is built tilting, I think again so yeah. That’s normal, though, sponsoring my contact, you guys I’ll, go ahead and check that out. Article did really well, you guys are like really frickin love it.
So the guys I’ve got to see that article or I get any of these cool sauces. I’ll. Put that in stop! You in description a below as well because of course, Matt’s out designing you need cool text as well. So, okay, let’s get this thing going really quickly! I’m a point this out, so you can see the outside stroke that I have is actually a color. Now, there’s a specific reason. I do that just because I feel like one, it looks a little better.
In my opinion, you have like a black stroke, followed by a blue or, if he’s not blue, but a color stroke on the outside on the farther outside. Just because it kind of makes your text your text look a little bit better. In my opinion, now what I mean by that is whatever is inside, whatever colors are inside. Your actual mask are right. I have like Grey’s blues white within my mask a design and I have way on the outside.
But then, if I love white on the outside – and it would just kind of be like weird – I feel like a black stroke on the outside completely surrounding your mascot design will look like really good like it would just kind of like finish it all, and then, If you add it, your color of layer of using an extra layer of color, excuse me and then it would just kind of like fill the actual actual logo even more and then, when you fight text, it’s like this is what it looks like right without it.
So without detectives kind of looks like it looks good right, but if I add like the color on the outside and then I add the actual text, there’s just something that just looks really good. Of course, when you actually add in the text with the color in the background, so it’s the reason why I said is it because if you had like the middle here – and this is a color of blue – let’s get this with blue right.
Your text was white. Let’s just say this was white right, but then your sugar, the outside, was black as well. It would kind of look very, very messy or very, very bland. It will kind of look empty and that’s why I want to like. Let you guys know if you use two different strokes on the outside for your like your finalization um. It just looks good in my opinion. I know you guys will figure it out yourselves.
I know you guys will figure out your your specifics. Your your preferences. This is just like I’m kinda, like my preference, so I’ll just you guys do that before I start just because I want to you know if you want to get it to look exactly or at least remotely closer, structurally close as mine. That is probably one of the one of the reasons why it does not look like mine in like the retrospective, like um, the text looking like it actually was in the lower design.
So hope you guys understood that little explanation and let’s just get this thing going. If you hear my chair scooch, I am sorry, I guess it’s time for me to get a new. I think I need to just like buy a good chair like I have to stop buying those like semi are staple chairs. There’s the thing um! Okay! So I’m going to delete that and when I get this thing going so the first thing you don’t want to do.
Of course, let’s do make a back plate surrounding you know secondary color of a color on the background, so on the background of this logo here right, so I’m going to do now. Let’s take my completely done: logo design, my mascot design, McEachern logo, mascot design. Here I’m going to hold alt while I’m holding alt I’m going left click and then drag this below. So I’m a drag whatever I’m selecting this load this layer here right below this other layer.
This will make a duplicate for me within illustrator. You can do that or you can go ahead and pick the actual layer, throw it into the new page and that’ll also make a duplicate as well. So whatever works for you, it’s all good either both of them do the same exact thing possible. With this one. You’re going to do with the duplicated one you’re going to go to select the target layer, which is a circle here.
This will select everything within this folder everything Simmons layer, and that way you can move it do ever with it. So we’re going to do is we’re going to combine them all that way. This entire shape did you guys see here, is actually going to be completely filled or assuming completely like yeah basically filled without. Actually, you know having a pencil out the outside or pick out which layer is only far outside nope.
You can just basically take the entire thing. Select it go to windows task finder. What the path I’m going to do is give you guys this option. It says sheet modes right and one of the options, the first one is actually unite. So, as you can imagine, it connects all the actual sectors within the actual layer, like I said just like so when I click it, I’m a Dragonslayer out because every other layer is empty.
Just so you’re not going to get a little easier and you can see this layer right here now is just one solid, basic layer of like the entire thing on the outside, so that works perfectly for me and I’m very happy with the outcome. So that’s what I’m going to use my actual stroke on the outside now to apply the stroke, of course you’re going to want, of course, with the actual color of the year. Your your secondary color, whatever color left on the outside, and you put that on your stroke, you’re, going to turn off your filled, which is this one right here.
The first one, the one of the foreground kind of you turn that off by just clicking on none one of your stroke here, click on the show, color double garnet, and they would apply that color, like I said before, to the actual stroke, which is just nice Little blue that I got going on here and then you want to make sure you have your stroke, cable, actually up as well we’re going to windows, stroke and you’re going to make sure this is open right.
So for your alignment, shoke you’re, going to put this on the outside now the first one is centered. The second will go to the inside and the last one’s going to be outside of the liner stroke. So one make sure you click on that one, because we’re going to basically mean your your stroke is going to go only farther outside of this path. Here we’re going to be more quicker one, of course, when you put your weight up here, randoms kind of Sisyphus because already know I kind of want it at 50 or not 30.
I think ah see I think it was yep so 50. So you can see us in the outside the stroke on the outside. It wasn’t me inside. Well, you won’t be able to see it. It goes in the center. Well, you got ta put your while your your points of a lot more just because it’s actually shared. It’s kind of sharing the actual the width between the outside and the inside. That’s all I put on the outside and you can see it’s really big now, because these points are still big, cuz it’s on 50, and you can see that if I put this on 50, just like so now, it’s just on the outside looks good.
It looks clean and then we’re good to go so that just wan na make sure you guys understood that okay, not the best in illustrator, what not obviously yeah. Once you have this you’re, pretty good you’re going to make a new layer above everything, so click new layer. Take your text tool which is basically T on your keyboard right for the shortcut, and I would have put it around 500 – is pretty good.
And for me, I’m in a 4k by 4k document size, so my points might be bigger or smaller, depending on what your document size is yourself, I’m going to go ahead and put it in what is the word twist right? I believe the font that I use for this was built, something like I said previously. It’s the bolded one though, and I’m going to go ahead and just put this right here now. The cool thing about my example was, if you guys remember it, I actually have my looking like a had like a little bulge or like arcs and stuff like that.
Basically, you can do the same exact thing. It’s the same exact tool, I believe, is within Photoshop. I don’t know what it’s called a cut like a wrap to look like that. I believe, but the same thing follows here right: the envelope tool. I think that’s what’s called a Photoshop as well, so you want to click this right, make envelopes and answer these different styles. You can actually apply it to your actual text, now lower arch, pretty much does what this is like kind of gives, like almost like a shield.
Look it kind of like makes it a little bit like urban copper. Like a lot more on the bottom side, you can keep going for you, put the bend up, see once you can see you can make it really dramatic. I can do the same thing with something like bulge. You can make it bulge towards you right, that’s pretty good! If I wouldn’t do it so dramatic we’re going to do that, I would say: keep between either negative 15 or positive 15.
Just because that’s not incredibly terrible, as I’m looking pretty like kind of sloppy in the way you don’t immediate, if I put up maybe 10 %, that’s pretty good yep, but the what I want to do is actually. I want to do bold if I want to make a negative that way actually goes towards the inside. You see it came toward me. Look I put toward the negative side. You can actually go. You know farther back and I love this one just because it looks best.
In my opinion, it’s just kind of like preferred one, so we put negative or what is it? I’m just going to put a negative, intense, prettier negative 11, whatever that’s pretty good right awesome. So you can see it does like that. Look nice little simple bulge towards the like further away from us, so this looks really good. I’m happy with this and I well. Let me do now, so I make a duplicate of this actually right now so i’ma hold alt like I did before, and because they put all the way on the bottom and we’re going to keep on the bottom.
For now, I’m a whole or Suzy hide the top layer here, which is our top texts. Now, I’m going to bottom one now quickly just make this a object, so I’m go to objects, go to expand and it will see these two things here. It’s going to span, object and fill admission. Those both filled or clicks, easily check press, ok, and this will make it into like a basic will she’s like basically it’ll, make make it into a basic shape and which means like you can have like move either one.
If you want to so, if you want to get creative and stuff like that, you can um, but for this I’m going to turn off the fill turn on the stroke. Take my stroke put the same color on so basis. The same thing I’m doing on the outside of this I’m doing this in the text so outside the stroke, the line and I’m going to go to here put about 30. I think right, that’s a pretty good amount and I’m down for that.
So basically, we’ve completed the the issue of you know applying all the strokes in the background. So you don’t don’t worry about that too much anymore realistically, now can be happening, is kind of like editing the text to make sure it looks. You know good, but we’re actually not completely done. You can see these little inside here, you’re going to have to actually fix that manually. If you have a text.
That, of course, has you know more spaced out actual you know, letters in their text or in their fonts will quickly turn this back on now to make this also white and well, I’m just going to actually go ahead and get so the object as well, because Why the hell not – and I’m going to make this white and okay so basically to fix this. This ring here this back one. So you have no more like white space because we want to make sure it’s actually completely filled in.
So what you don’t want to do is going to manually. Do it yourself, so click a new layer right above that layer, I’m a bill. Click in use my pen, switches of the press p.M. If you go through the actual shortcut and it’s this tool right here and you’re just going to have to basically be pretty far in find out where this actual point ends over there and, of course, click over. Here, click and drag because this in art, now I’m going to take this point, I’m a hole, control! I’m going to hold this move this toward here and imma, say to myself once it’s pretty good, like you know, what’s pretty good ring, and this is okay, I know it’s not going to be complete long term.
That’s not really quick. I always have to be completely perfect, as this is an S now. However, the X does go below everything, so kind of like makes sense, but what I want to do is I’m going to make sure that I will click all the way around. If I cover this white space, I’m going to go around this white space right, I’m going to make sure I get this right here. I’ll make sure I get this little right here, which is.
Why are the W scuse me and the spacing between the T and the WI make sure I completely feel that as well now, I’m going to click it put it back on the field. Now I’m going to change my fill color by the way. What I’m doing the selected colors I’m using my eyedropper tool, I already have a color here, like blue white black at all, filled colors and that stroke color. So I’m going to click this or not that one okay, this one right here actually completely fills in the color, with the same exact color and the same exact fill cap as if I don’t have a keynote go into here and then Manley put the color back In I can just kind of pick a color from my mascot design and there we go so I can see now it fills in the space, and that is what you guys want.
So basically they have. You know this empty space, which looks kind of weird and does not look clean, and if you click this you can see now we actually apply the you know additional shape to it. So it fills in the actual space and it looks good now the fit again to do again, one more time toward the actual top layer. This is actually our top text. Just for you guys know if it’s white, you won’t be able to see in the thumbnail.
We’re going to make a new kind of this one we’re going to go ahead and apply the stroke to it and we’re going to apply the same stroke as this one right here, but I’m of course, I’m not make it a lot lower like 25, maybe um 25 is pretty good, but it’s on the outside, there’s not on the outside, so I’m actually make it a little less. Maybe like what do you guys think? Like 17? I think that’s pretty good, so we have to just same exact thing for this from right here.
So, let’s do that right now, so click on this end, click on this and click and drag make sure you know make an arc for yourself and then the whole control flip. This extended point here and then make sure you kind of go through once again right, see, there’s no spaces a lot more empty space here, so I actually have to make sure I go through it in D entire thing: there we go. I kind of like this made my own little path going through and then basically just like so fill it in and there we go fill it, of course, with the same exact color, and let me get something like this now.
If you guys, once you can do the same thing on the top layer, as we see this it’s empty here as well to mess it make another new layer and then do the same thing on the top, because I wanted to make sure there’s no empty spaces. Space here and there space here we want to get rid of that. We don’t want to make sure you want to make sure it’s completely beautiful and looks good and everyone’s happy just like so, and when I kind of just go through it right and then make sure you fill that in so I filled in.
Was this part right here? You can see right so now we’re pretty much almost done at the same point. We actually are done. What you can do is kinda, like you know, since we did actually make this into a object, our actual text into an object and no longer one like you know, kind of text path. You can actually click on multiple letters and then chase kids, like said whatever color, you guys want and then you’re pretty much set in stone, you’re really good to go, so they ever want to like go back into it.
Kind of like make strokes, bigger and whatnot. If you guys want to make it, you know, the blue show cumin. You want to make it bigger because to like say for you, you just want to click on it. Click on the target circle, click on the stroke and just make it go up. Fàbregas me you’re going to actually have to fix that thing you did here. These are probably like kind of like make it big with ctrl T or command here whatever or not ctrl keys, ctrl T avocado fix us again.
Just because you know you want to make sure it’s still good and I’ll, you know nice and going to evenly right, so you want to make that bigger as well. I probably have to make this one bigger as well. Ah, where is it? Is it this one? No, it’s definitely: where is it it’s in here? Isn’t it know where to go this one right here boom and make this a little dollar thicker? So it’s just kinda like a thing and we’re going to take this and kind of drag these back down, and it’s just it just depends what you guys want to do.
So I kind of didn’t like it, because it’s too thin for me, so others have fixed to show and then fix. Of course, these two things up here as well, all the other like extended like filled tasks or the filled shapes that way, we’re looking good and all that cool stuff, and basically, once you’re done, you said you’re satisfied. This looks really good and it looks like the texts also applied to the actual map that design.
So hopefully I explained as best as I could, because it was wasn’t. That was really really show. Look. I don’t know why I struggle with it. So I said you to myself this probably looking lot there who struggles with it, so I’m actually the article on it and I hope you guys enjoyed. I really really do a thing guys so much by the way for enjoying these logo design tutorials. I haven’t really enjoyed them.
Also, after-effects like I’ve been really I’ve been trying to push. As you can see, I kind of live in using After Effects and my articles, not Sony Vegas, so hope you guys enjoy I’m literally trying to super harder, they’re. So much less important. Often pet owners are far more meticulous about the products they buy for their pets than they are about what they buy for themselves. Someone who scripts on groceries by buying generic products and way to pay a premium price for organic double cat food when it comes to marketing an animal company, you must put your focus squarely on the emotions of animal owners.
Your marketing efforts are likely to succeed. If you emphasize the qualities that pet owners feel are most important, if you do that, then your marketing is sure to be a success. What do people look for in a pet supply company? The first key to branding your animal company successfully is to understand what pet owners want when they go shopping for pet suppliers. Here are the qualities they are most likely to prioritize.
Trustworthiness comes first for a good reason. If people are going to buy your products for use your service, they want to be confident that it’s safe and healthy for their pet compassion is another key element of animal branding. Pet owners want to be sure that the companies they buy from care about animals as much as they do playfulness and fun may also be important. Depending on what you’re selling, for example, a company that makes dog toys who provides doggy daycare, might want to emphasize the fact that the pet yuju is spending time with them.
The colors and shapes you choose for logo reflect the qualities that you want to convey to your customers. For example, this logo uses blue a color that conveys trustworthiness and reliability along with a moving image of a dog placing its port. In a human’s hand, the image is surrounded by a harsh. Oh, it’s old. This logo provides a clear picture of a company that could be trusted because the people who run it love animals from want to care for them.
The logo you choose until pet owners and not about you, even if they just glance at it. The shapes, colors, fonts and images you choose will determine whether a potential customer stops to look at your ad or content or keeps moving in search of something more appealing. Finding your place in the animal industry, one of the key considerations when you’re marketing your animal company is finding a way to carve out a space for yourself what is undeniably a crowded industry.
Their ownership is very common, and that means there’s a huge market for pet products and services. What can you do to make yourself stand out from a crowd of competitors? There are a few ideas, take an honest look at your strengths and weaknesses. If your company’s primary strength is your knowledge of dog, behavior then focus on one. It’s also the good idea to find something unique about your products or services.
Are you providing luxury products for people who want to pamper their pets? Is your speciality training order, rescue dogs, whatever it is, find an angle that makes your company special identify the target audience for your marketing? It’s not enough simply to say that you’re targeting pet owners, effective marketing, has to be more specific than that, for example, you might choose to target people at your own exotic, reptiles.
For those who show dogs, you might offer training services, especially for puppies or make products that cater to cats owners, knowing who your customers are, including demographic information such as age and income levels, as well as interests, can help you hone in on your marketing strategy. Creating a customer persona might sound complicated, but it doesn’t have to be using the information. You’ve gathered create an imaginary ideal customer to use as the focus of your marketing following these three steps will help you to determine the best marketing strategy to promote your company once you’ve completed them.
The next step is to start marketing marketing your pet supply company. When it comes to marketing your pet supply company, it pays to plan marketing is, after all, science, professional marketers spend years learning their jobs and they apply everything from psychology to mathematical principles to what they do. However, you don’t need to be an expert or even to hire a full time marketing person to do a good job of marketing.
Your marketing can benefit your company. It might be tempting to think that you understand all the ways of which marketing can benefit your company, but there may be some things you haven’t considered. The first thing to keep in mind is that brand recognition is hugely important when it comes to growing any company. Customers need to be familiar with your brand in order to trust it. A Nielsen survey from 2013 found that approximately 60 % of Internet users preferred to make a purchase from a brand.
They recognized them from an unknown brand. What that means in real terms is that the more recognizable and ubiquitous your branding is the more likely it is that customers will buy from you. You’ll have to be consistent with your branding. If you want that to happen, and to do that, you’ll need to make a marketing plan tips for making a marketing plan. It simply doesn’t pay to be inconsistent or haphazard.
With your marketing, scattershot approach is really effective. You might get it right by chance at least part of the time, but the likelihood of that happening more than once is slim. Fortunately, it isn’t difficult to create a comprehensive marketing plan. All you need to do is follow these simple steps, as previously discussed identify what makes your company unique. Very few small companies can compete with retail giants like Walmart there.
You can afford to be all things sort of people, but you need to be highly focused on what you do best if you want your marketing efforts to be successful next hold in on your target audience. If you already created a detailed customer persona, then you’ve already completed this step. It may help to know where your target customers spend time online. For example, if you’re selling luxury pet products, Pinterest marketing might be very important to you, since most of its users are fairly affluent, are mostly female.
The third step is to choose marketing goals. You might want to increase your revenue by 50 %, attract a thousand new customers or simply increase your brand recognition. Whatever your goals are articulating, them will help. You hone the rest of your marketing plan once you’ve identified your goals. The next step is to decide on your marketing strategy, which is a big picture snapshot of how you intend to meet your goals, as well as your marketing tactics, which other specific actions you plan to take to carry out your strategy.
For example, you might decide to use Pinterest marketing to reach your target audience specific tactics. New year’s might include creating a bulletin boards featuring your products or hiring someone to make them for graphics to teach, but obedience finally decide how much you can afford to spend on marketing and create a budget in addition to specifying the total amount you plan to spend. We should also allocate those resources to specific tactics, so you have a detailed plan once your marketing plan is in place, then it’s time to bring everything together.
You’ll have to use your logo, along with some specific content, marketing ideas to get the return you want, and your marketing investment hell. Your logo could help build brand recognition and loyalty every bit of marketing. You do should be associated with your logo and branding. Why? Because brand recognition is the key to attracting customers, you should use your logo everywhere, including on your website and blog on printed marketing materials, including business cards and product packaging.
Then printed and online ads on your social media pages. You can increase brand recognition by repeating the colors and shapes of your logo in other places, if your overall web design blends with your logo, for example, we’ll put forward a very consistent we’re, showing brand image to everyone who visits your site, content, marketing ideas for pet Supply companies, the final step is to use content marketing both to attract new customers and to provide value and entertainment to your existing customers.
Here are some ways you can accomplish. That goal set up a blog on your website and blog about relevant topics. For example, you might do a blog about the importance of crate training or how often to give a dog treats every blog post. You do should be relevant to your customers, pet related articles and post them on the YouTube blog. You might share a article about how to make a DIY kitty condo or how to decorate the terrarium for a pet frog.
Whatever it is, should maximize the SEO benefits of using YouTube, which is owned by Google and provide a clickable call to action in your article set up social media pages on the tour three sites most likely to be used by your customers. If you’re marketing to a younger crowd that might make sense to have a presence on snapchat, older affluent people are more likely to be on Pinterest, follow animal publications and well-known people in the industry.
The dog whisperer is a good example and share their content with your own commentary. Doing so will help you establish yourself as an authority use, email, marketing to share petrol and tips and other useful information. The key with content marketing is to keep the focus on providing value to your customers. You can include a call to action, but most of your content shouldn’t be a straight sales pitch once you start sharing content.
The final step is to refine your strategy to ensure that you’re getting the biggest possible return on your investment market testing. Effective marketing requires ongoing testing and refinement if you want to make the most of your budget, even if you spend a ton of time and effort on your marketing plan, you’re going to get it wrong at least some of the time even small tweaks, such as changing The font, size or the color of your call-to-action button can make a difference in the response you get.
You can refine your marketing with just two simple steps: review your metrics to identify potential problem areas. For example, you might notice that your sales page as a high bounce rate, or that the article content you post, isn’t getting the engagement you’d hoped for. You may want to use google analytics together with social media, metrics and email analysis from your autoresponders to determine which areas are most in need of improvement come up with an alternative for one element that you think can be improved and you split testing software to test It it’s important to test only one element at a time for best results.
After you run each test, you can tweak your marketing plan accordingly, as you do, you should see your conversion rates and sales improve conclusion. The key to marketing and branding your animal company effectively is to come up with a branding message: they’re specifically targeted to your audience and then use it consistently and effectively. Everywhere you have an online presence. The more your brand recognition increases, the more customers and revenue you’ll have I’m Simon McArdle owner of the logo company.

Okay, not just the point itself. Why is my illustrator, like it’s all your fault huh? I just I’ve, never had a loser to crash. You know what is going on guys, it’s your boy. It says so here bring us a article here today, bringing guys and illustrate ok illustrator tutorial how to create your own cool, little serif sort of logo design. Also, I got my voice back.
I didn’t promise it last week, but it came back to me about two days ago, which is pretty cool um, so yeah I’m going to teach you guys how to make some cool little serif, fonts um. So, just in case, you guys are the little difference between a serif and a sans serif for like food-for-thought, a kind of thing or, like you kind of need to know this kind of thing um. This is more like a this right. Here is more like a sans serif right.
If you guys are know what serif star regardless it’s these little little cou little things right here, um, I would just call them like. I don’t know that not like a cliff but, like I don’t know, they’re just they’re called serif. So that’s what they are honestly um. It’s just a really cool kind of like an accent to the more sort of bolded strokes that or not even bolded itself, but more like you know, linear chokes.
I have no little accent the end of them right so does the case you guys would know. That’s kind of like the whole deal about that um, so yeah. I wanted to show you guys that make logos like this, because recently I’ve been getting a couple clients with like some premium brands for clothing or premium brands for just really anything honestly. So I’ve been doing a lot of serif fonts lately um and they really do justice.
If I think you guys really truly need to know these kind of things. I know a lot of you guys in this blog here today or whatever you know when he’s describing what not a lot of you guys are a logo tutorial, like you know, people that come for my logo tutorials. I know like 30 percent of my views come from logos, so I want to give it guys a cool little inset, of how I kind of do something like this, where you either letter marks or full-on.
You know of course hand lettering, we’re not hand lettering, but you know typeface and you know lettering, but regardless, I think it’s it’s very important to show you guys least how to do it and how to execute it. I believe, and just give you guys little tips that I kind of do to make it even look even cooler than it could be right. So I yeah what that being said. This is a double a concept here.
I think if you look at this, it kind of looks you know it looks. I don’t know like it. Just looks like it’s sort of loyalty. You got ta, see trust. I have one word written down here. I put quality, I put quality, loyalty and Trust. So I feel like you look at when you see serif logos when it whether it’s like a like a brand of like I don’t know. If you look at this, you can personally say if this is like a lawyer bro right.
Yet the lawyer came up with you at this logo right here in front of your face. You’d be like all right, you know, but if they came up with that, you know this thing right here is like this is my a logo. This heaves your card with this you’d be a little bit. You know you know so anyway, that’s the whole deal about that. So I’m going to show you guys exactly how to do it right now and let’s go get this thing going all right.
I mean someone that gave you guys a nice little walkthrough, probably created in my personal little. I guess serif a that kind of made for this Baker today. So I’m going to go ahead and just show you guys the whole walkthrough. This whole thing I’m going to kind of keep this here for one second and one. Second, only just a cigarette off stick her out figure out how I’m going to kind of like lean and shear the the angle.
So I’m going to have a at least somewhat close to the same angle that I had before um. So, of course, I’m going to be using the rectangle tool here, I’m going to be on a new layer right here, right, single tool having your fill turned on, of course, because we’re going to, of course, have this rectangle be filled in and we’re just going to Simply make a nice size a good-sized rectangle for now, I’m going to kind of even it out with this one over here now.
What I would do here is, I would just select the actual rectangle itself now, if you once you can press a in or a keyboard or just click over here on the top left, direct selection tool and what you wan na do is you want to? Basically, click on just these first top two, so you’re just going to highlight the first top two shapes here: the the points here for the shape. If you just once you, if you guys, don’t know what the whole shearing is or if you has a no Photoshop or like skew or whatnot we’re just going to like tilting this on an angle of course, and then making a little more easier for us to Handle without, of course, like doing maybe like rotating like this and then make this flat, you want to kind of like guess that or you want to, like you, know, kind of even it out like that, there’s a way easier way.
I would just honestly just take the two points on the top hold shift move it over towards the left. The reason why you’re holding shift is because, while you’re holding shift, it keeps on the same exact line as long as long as you’re, not crazy. As you can see, I haven’t make really dramatic movements to change the actual line, so this is pretty good for me. Right here I believe, that’s a pretty even angle to this one over here, maybe a little less about right there.
Alright! So that’s pretty okay! So I’m going to hide this now so then I have this a here. I’m going to quickly just kind of like make a little more shorter, just like so and now cool. So I have my little right angle, shear. Now, what I’m going to do is I’m going to hold alt and shift if you hasn’t know what the reason why, of course, if you hold alt and you select on a shape itself and use when I click you just move it around just like so you Make duplicates just like that, if you guys want to, however, I’m going to be holding alt and moving over to the left, while also holding shift, because you guys know what keeps on that same exact line, and once I can let it go just like.
So I can make sure if I move it over again, it’ll be in the same exact line. That seems that position so that way, when I go ahead and right-click on this shape here, I can go to transform and then reflect and we’re going to just take this and just reflect on a vertical which will flip it. Nice symmetrical for us to make a name, so I’m now going to okay, I’m going to just go ahead and take this. This point right here, move it over towards the right kind of connected with this point over here.
So I’m going to say to myself right: there is pretty dang good now, if you didn’t, if you saw my mind kind of like snapped, if you guys don’t have like snap to point, I believe it’s in where is it like view snap to pixel endpoint? I personally have on. I don’t have to have pixel really. I can just have point itself um, but if yours isn’t snapping the way, I would definitely tell you guys say if your guys not used to kind of having it perfectly on a point put on snap to points very easy, as you guys saw up view snap To point just like so, and I’m going to do now, is I’m going to just click on both of these little shapes right here by holding shift right? If I just select one hold shift, I can select the other one.
Have any other ones still highlighted, I’m going to go ahead and use the shape builder tool? If you guys are new to illustrator, it’s basically a tool in which, if you press shift M your keyboard right. This is the shape builder tool this shape here. Basically, you can see these lines here, it’s kind of making almost like polygons or segments. You can say in these little paths here we have its own individual shapes, but if I go ahead and just unclick it, if I move it, I’m not moving individual shapes right now.
But if I were to just show you guys and see, if you hold alt, you can see my little. My little mouse has a little minus button now, next to if I hold alt, if I let go, it has just a plus button, but if you guys, of course, think about, if you just click on that shape with that plus button, if I just click off Again, really quickly and click now over here, it took that shape that I actually clicked with the shape builder tool and get into its own separate shapes.
So we’re going to be doing, though, is using the minus, which is of course negative kind of like you know, kind of getting rid of it subtracting it. So you know hold alt click over here and click over here, just like so to make ourself a nice little a here now. In my I guess you would say my example of my serif on here. Usually you kind of have different weights, meaning like thicknesses. You see here I kind of have like a different way here, so I have a very, very sort of thick stroke line here with an interruption with this little stroke line in the middle in the middle more towards leading to the right – and I also have a Different like a little kind of weight or thickness of stroke here for, like the inner side of the a so usually you’ll, find yourself, maybe focusing on that.
So if you guys wanted to, I would probably City you can probably move this and like this I’ll. Just do this right split it in almost half, so I use a shape a little tool again just like so you can do something like that right, so that right there and it’s kind of letting me about different kind of weights um. But for my example, I personally did not do that, because I kind of did this little example, which I’ll show you guys in a second kind of like focus on kind of making.
It look like almost like a negative space to kind of figure out that this is right here. There’s like an imaginary line coming down right, because we have this pointing up this right here pointed towards this little other point. Here we kind of cut it off. It’s not too difficult thing about it, but if you guys can hopefully kind of imagine in your head that this right here, it’s almost like a nice little secondary stem of the a coming down the left um.
But we didn’t have that. But if you guys want to keep this, I would definitely suggest the fact that you use different weights and different thicknesses. But for me, like I said for my example here, I’m going to leave it so that it is one nice you know uniform thickness is we’re getting rid of in a second anyway, okay! So now that I think this is okay, it’s a little bit on your thicker side than I would normally like, but it’s pretty okay, okay! So I’m going to take the rectangle tool once again right! So I’m going to go ahead and say myself right down here.
I’m just going to go ahead and make a nice little like make sure this is on that line. Let me get a little more to think of for now, because we can go ahead and subtract most of it if we just simply won’t sort of done with it will kind of like figure it out if it needs to be a little less or a little More when it comes to, like, though height is, I would say so right about there’s a pretty good little little thing right, then I’m going to take the same exact shape, hold alt and shift again, of course, holding alt make it do the kit holding shift to Keep it on that same line now, keep it right around there, and now we have ourselves a little bit of Sarah’s coming on right, so you can see that we’re getting that little look to it, which looks pretty good so far, but it’s it doesn’t have that Little sort of curve that most serif, fonts or Serafino logos have right here now, there’s one of two ways of doing this, I would believe the easiest way to do is the second method, I’m going to show you, but the first method, just in case you guys Really want to do it is you can just use a pen tool right, you can just use your pen tool and just on the line itself, take your pen tool, click on the line over here right and then just simply to make a nice little curve.
For yourself, oops, that’s disgusting. Take this little extended point anchor point here right, you can go around like so you can do it. Something like that right, that’s fairly simple! Honestly, it’s not too like difficult. It’s also kind of like you know it’s quick as well honestly, but what I would like to do is right. If you guys, you see this little Pathfinder table, I have up at all times, usually cuz I mean I usually use it all the time.
If you guys don’t have it it’s under windows Pathfinder, and what this is basically going to do, if I just simply like I’m going to do right now highlight all of these shapes here together, I’m just going to do one side for once right. So I’m going to just click on this shape here right this little right hand little stem here and this little bottom stone they’re just kind of made for the serif. Here I’m going to take these two shapes shift-click on them, which is going to basically select both of them and I’m going to just click right here in the Pathfinder unite right here you can see it makes it one nice little path.
Now, if you guys did it right, I’m pretty sure, there’s no way you can kind of mess this up really. But if you just click here, you can see these little. I believe I forgot when this came out for illustrator, but me about two years ago. I really don’t know honestly um. This is kind of like a little curve. I would I don’t know what the actual name for it is. I would just call it a point by point curve right, so what happens is mostly on every little curve? That has a very, very sharp edge it should even have on the inside.
Here. You can see that right there right little sharp edges always going to have an ability to curve them. So while you have these two actual shapes combined, you can just simply click on one of these points right here. It’ll have this little circle for you guys, you simply just take this circle and then just drag it right up now. I find this a lot more easier for more than one reason, because it can be perfect, you will make sure it will always be perfect right.
There is no sort of indication where it’s going to be slanted on the wrong angle in like that, because this is done in it’ll, show to program and the technology and illustrator itself. So you can damn well sure you know kind of like make sure the curve is on the right angles and stuff. So I’m going to do the same exact thing over here to this one. Now, just in case you guys not know if I just quickly go back for a second before I did the actual ones.
If I wanted to, I can click on both this angle here, and I believe I can click on this angle here and then move them. Both simultaneously to make sure I kind of get in on the even on each side, as you can see, it’s pretty much just like so and now it’s perfectly even on each side, and you have to worry about it. So if I just click here and click shift click over here as well, just like both of them, I’m going to smoke us on one and what’s going to happen, is the other one is going to be quite perfect.
Now I think that’s pretty good. I think this needs to be a little less. I may be wrong there and I think that’s pretty dang good. So now. Let me kind of like think about it. If I wanted to can just kind of give you guys, like a nice little different way in the middle here, so kind of have like a little serif looking a little a right there, I think it looks pretty cool right. So it looks pretty cool now, but for me I just thought there was something really cool to do and I kind of like figured out some different styles and that’s kind of doing this little sort of indication that it’s missing and there’s still like this little fill Area for this, whatever letter you’re actually doing right, so I’m going to do – is I’m going to go ahead? Get rid of that because I don’t want that here.
What we’re going to do here is I’m going to go ahead and kind of get rid of this. Like area right here for now right, so I’m going to just click, and I get very, very simple line with this. Might like my pen tool, I’m just going to highlight everything here: cuz, I’m going to make sure it’s going to split here and it’s got ta split. Scuse me split right here on this line that it is creating. So if I press shift M shape bill a tool just like so make sure I split it just like that, because we now we have this completely got rid enough right.
So you can do something like this as well. There’s different ways, of course, split your areas. There’s different ways to sort of uh indicate where you know there’s just like you know this like: how do you call it like an imaginary or or inferred? What’s the word I’m looking for, I think it’s like inferred closed inferred whatever, but there’s an inferred line. That’s right here right so for me, I found this little cool door trick that you can do to make it look something like this.
Now it’s a little tricky, I even don’t even know if I did it right the first time how ever what I actually did was. I said to myself going to make a nice little oval here now, if you guys know what later I’m I just clicked on. I press L on my keyboard, but you bring up the kind of like the rectangle tool, but it kind of like went down into the ellipse tool. You guys. I know that already, if pressed L on your keyboard, so I’m going to just simply make a nice little lips here now make it fairly big size just like so I’m going to put on a nice little angle here.
Now I’m going to go ahead and cut it as close to see right here like this little snap to point stuff, I might need to turn this off right now. So it’s not too pixel snap to point my turn, both of those off that way. I can freely move it just like. So now, I’m going to figure out if I believe, that’s pretty. Okay, let’s move this again like right about there. I would say now, if you have this little empty space here, that’s perfectly fine! That just means you have to fill that in with a shape builder tool.
Again, I think that’s pretty good, so I’m going to make a nice little what I kind of wanted to aim for our dude over here and explain it more in detail. If I just reflect this one over here, I think this is going to have to be a little smaller and also going to do. Is I’m going to change these to color, so I can actually see what they are. I actually see what’s going on here right. It’s changing to a different color, just like so now, I’m going to make sure.
I think this one should be more of a circular kind of thing here, so I can get a nice point in a direction because this is facing more to the left. If I make this one a perfect circle, this will actually go ahead and kind of like point in the direction sort of top right up kind of thing. So if I say to myself, if I put this right about here, this will just have to be a little bit bigger, I’m holding shift to make sure it keeps a perfect circle right about there.
So I’m going to do is I’m going to line up sort of like the bottom of this circle here to the point rate here right? So a point referring to is this point right here: drag this down and kind of make sure it’s perfectly rated there. Now I’m just going to go ahead and say: I’m going to make this a little bit bigger hit that right there, and this should still be on the point. It’s a little bit off there we go.
Does that work out? Okay, so I’m kind of like going in circles here, let’s just make this one bigger, okay, why are you going down and not up there? We go there. We go there, that’s okay! So if I need to, I can go ahead and just get rid of some things, but I think it’s okay. I just want to kind of make sure that I get. I want to definitely get it the way I had it previously, so try on a little process here, but what, if I just go ahead and just make this just a lot bigger than it needs to be that way, I can just automatically have it interfering with That over there, so when I make this on this point right here, that’ll work just like so so a little kind of like little thought process, but hopefully that’ll kind of help.
You guys that when you’re figuring out cuz, I personally, like I said I just my first time – sort of like doing this little little style point here but, as you can see, I kind of if I just even intersect these two circles here. It’s perfectly fine. No matter what, because I still get this nice little point at the end, no matter what because of course, two circles still going to combine it to a point just like so, but this whole area, like I was talking about right here – that’s missing! That’s perfectly fine! What I can do here, I can just do it right now is: I can shift click on both this shape here right this little a and this little reddish tone circle.
If you guy going on shift my keyboard – and we can fill this in by just simply – is clicking with the shape builder tool just like so if I move that it’ll be filled in for you guys just like so right, so once I do this just like That I can then hover over everything here, because I want to make sure I can see all of my interactions, so I can see all where I’m going to be cutting at if I just press shift them again.
I can get rid of this. Get rid of that get rid of this get rid of this get rid of this and get rid of that, and now we have our little inferred little sort of directional a thing here. So the cool thing about this is like I said before. If this was too high for you, this little area right here like this little – you know from this point to this point was: if it’s a little too high, you can just take a nice little rectangle, just cut it right through.
If you want to, let’s say I’ll, do a right about there cuz, I kind of like to hide it. It’s it right now, but if you guys don’t want to use the shape builder tool, I don’t know what that is, and then just you know, hold alt and get rid of it. So it can even be even more skinnier right. So I think that looks pretty. Damn sexy, if I’m honest with myself, I’m going to go ahead and just combine all these shapes that are in here just in case, there’s, there’s one little hidden shape right.
There I’ll combine it now together. That way, when I go ahead and just sort of move this as I want to, I want to move this down here, I’ll, give it a fair, spacing I’ll, say right about there now, if I don’t know if this is on the perfect angle here, what I Personal like to do to check it, which is probably the best idea, I’m pretty sure, going to hold shift and get it on the diagonal line as well.
But if you guys want to, if you I kind of follow I’m what I did was look up here as you can see, it’s not quite there. Yet this is definitely not ideal. However, it does work and I would just recommend, if you kind of want to just still do it right, I’m guessing right about here. If I zoom in again, that’s all good. So if I just click over here and shape builder tool, you get rid of that. Get rid of that now.
We can definitely make sure this is all on the same exact line and now for d’like them. Last but not least, here make ourself a nice little of different weight press M on our keyboard. For that rectangle. It’s a little different size thickness. Oh, I would kind of also make sure it can make it a little more uniform. So what I would do is I would kind of copy the the height of this right here right.
So it’s not quite there yet just make it a little bit more just like so there we go, I’m going to take that shape now and throw it right in here for that little sort of inferred line. If there’s like a little crossbar for the a – and I would say that is a pretty damn good-looking representative of two little aids going on um, it’s a little bit too skinny. But you know what I mean like I find. I would honestly make it a little more thicker just like so, which means the kind of the bottom part of the serif maybe needs to be a little thicker as well, but for the save the tour, I think that’s pretty dang it good, and there is our Really cool custom eh so honestly guys it’s a very, very fun sort of like almost like a coat like a collage project.
If you think about it, not for me, I didn’t you know you can even say this is one a itself right, no matter what there’s an a right here, there’s an a right here, so you can call it double a. But for me this is going to be just a letter, a mark itself in its own territory. I guess you can say, but hopefully you guys understood the whole tutorial and really understood that this is a very, very cool sort of like.
I would really embrace the fact that you know I at least understand how to do this, because you’re definitely find clients along the way, we’re looking for a premium brand and they don’t know the words how to describe what they want, but most likely they’d really be. Looking for a serif typeface or you’re, going to serif letter concept or something like lettering itself right so hope you guys enjoyed the tour here today.
Hopefully I talked to you guys something. Hopefully I open you and some inspiration to something with you know: serif fonts and whatnot or serif lettering, um, I’m just going to go in as quickly saving a so very much. We hit 78 KO for the week, and I just appreciate that very very much. We’re very very close to 80 K, so uh just for the sake of the twirl it just hit, like you know, 250 likes and 24 hours.
I don’t know, is that possible? I really don’t know, but I really I really just I just thank you guys very much honestly and also think I was very much in the support on last week’s article. You guys bear with my voice and that’s that’s a deal because it would so yeah alright. So I’m going to go ahead and just get going now it’s a cool thing.
