I can read comments, how’s it going we’re going to talk about Pinterest tonight. I know before on the earlier post. It said social, our algorithms, but I just took a master class on Instagram and I thought it would be a little bit more interesting to ijen to everyone here. Okay, here we go okay, so comments we’re ready. So a little bit about myself. My name is Leah.
I live in Fargo North Dakota. I just moved into a new house. That’S why you were looking at this beautiful plain white background. Until I can get my filming area set up. I feel a little bit like a college news presenter on my little desk here: hey Britta um, about me, hello in Fargo, a new house. I have a husband and a little boy and they’re trying to go to sleep right now, but it’s still light out.
So buddy wants to stay up and play so it’s been a fun night, hashtag mom life and I work in marketing as my professional daytime job and my specialties in social media marketing. I’Ve worked for national craft, brewing brands and industries across the board, so social media is definitely one of my passions and I’m very excited to share what I can with you guys on this awesome opportunity in this platform here so, like I said a little bit earlier Today, we’re going to talk about Pinterest, because it is a huge opportunity.
It’S basically the Wild West and the doors are wide open for a lot of people to use it in a really strategic, a really simple way that can really your business grow. Part of that, and so I have to know Pinterest how many of you use it, let me see some Smiley’s or hearts or whatever. If you guys are Pinterest users. I know I use it a lot, especially when I was planning my wedding. I used Pinterest a ton.
I think one of the things about Pinterest is that we don’t really think of how to use it in a business sense. We know that we can go on there to buy, find a bunch of great recipes. We can help plan things. We can decorate, we can, you know shop for shoes whatever, but we don’t think of a way to use it to leverage our own business. So I’m going to share a few little tidbits for you. That will maybe help get your wheels turning and get you wanting to use that in a strategic way.
So here’s just a few stats and numbers. I was kind of blown away when I found some of these, like I knew some, but I didn’t really realize some of it. So Pinterest has over 150 million users globally. How about them? 70 million are just in the United States. So all of the countries in the world we have about half of the users on Pinterest, 81 % of those users are female, and 67 percent of users are under the age of 40.
So does that hit some demographics that you would like to reach out to? In an organic and free way, I would hope so so here was another interesting thing. Speaking of age, Millennials use Pinterest is as much if not more than they use Instagram. This is going to be the age group that we’re going to really want to reach out to you and be able to hit in a really successful way, so under 40 female and in that target demographic.
Let’S see what else? Oh, here’s, the here’s, the money part. So half of Pinterest users, their their personal income, is $ 50,000 a year or more and 10 % of is a total household of 125,000 dollars or more eglee. So does that mean they have expendable income and they go on Pinterest to find what to buy so 87 % of pinners have purchased something that they found for the first time on Pinterest. So basically, anybody who goes on there is probably looking to shop and looking to buy and then 72 % of all Pinterest users use Pinterest as a means of finding something that they want to buy and that’s what they used to make the decision.
So people are there, people have money, people are looking to buy. This is a platform you want to be on. So here’s where it gets kind of interesting of all of the pins on Pinterest, 80 % of them are repinned content. So that means that all of the users on Pinterest are going on there and using content that they didn’t create themselves, so huge, open gigantic opportunity for us to get in on Pinterest and start making our own content and being part of the original content.
That’S on there that the other 80 % of people are going to do and repin and share your stuff. He actually hey Angie, I’m trying to see, as you guys kind of scroll up my screen, um, so Pinterest huge open how to use it for business where to start where to start, I recommend starting either a board, that’s specific for your business or, if not a Whole new profile and Pinterest page that is going to be your business persona.
What’S great about this, is you can switch your Pinterest account to a business account I’m very similar how you can switch your Instagram account to a business Instagram account if you search it to a business pictures to count you get analytics analytics. Suddenly you can see who’s clicking and who’s using, what’s really doing really well and what’s not doing so great things like that, so that’s kind of a really cool part about it and it’s totally free.
There are some sites that you have to pay for. A business said: upgraders a monthly charge, pictures business account analytics and everything is totally free. They do have an option for advertising much like Facebook does. So if you do have a pen that you find that you’ve created and is doing really well, it’s getting a lot of clicks, it’s driving your business, you can promote it to be seen more, you can and it’s not expensive.
It’S pretty inexpensive like Facebook is so. If you’re going to set up a business Pinterest account you can create boards that go with your theme. So, for example, you’re going to make your like, for example me, it would be. You know, Lea Joaquina live sense, distributor whatever. I wouldn’t only have one board that was lip sense. I have a lip sense board. I have a makeup general board. I have a skin care board.
I have a self care board. I have an I made that board. So a bunch of things that can go with your theme, because you want to pin frequently and then pepper in your own original content. That makes sense. So what else here I totally went off chatting in last night’s, not so creature um. What would you suggest for captions on Pinterest? I never know what to say we’ll get to that we’ll get to that. Um yeah, that’s going to mean the second most important part when you create new pins, the image is the most important and the second most important is your caption, because that’s going to be where your searches show up, that’s why your keywords are going to live.
So you create your own board creature or your Pinterest profile equation on boards. So now what? When you’re creating your pins think of Pinterest as a search engine when it first started, they want it to be a social media type of platform, but in the last little, while it’s really kinda they’ve kind of here, their business to be a search engine, they found People weren’t interacting so much as really using it as a place to find things in shop and save idea is not so much a conversation.
So when you’re, creating your pins and your images, think of it as what you would search for. If you were going to go on and look for, you know lip sense for fall hint. This is a good one. You could share an image with you know five different fall, colors say like hot colors for fall and then in the comments area. That’S where you want to hit your keywords: you’re, going to want to use things like fall makeup, lip sense, lip color.
Just anything. You would think to search for write that in there you don’t have to make the description sound like a cohesive sentence. It does help, but if you just want to jam it full of keywords, kind of like when you use your hashtags on Instagram, that’s totally great too hashtags make a difference on Pinterest, nope Pinterest doesn’t use hashtags to search like other platforms. Do they just search text? So you don’t have to worry about using a hashtag, because it’s like I said it’s a search engine, so it would be what you would organically type in not necessarily like.
Oh, where that’s like like lips ends. Ball color is all one together. It could be separate. You don’t have to worry about a hashtag if you will so think of that when you’re creating your pins is really just keep thinking. What would I search for? What would people search for? How would they search for it? Because that’s what you’re going to get found and then once you’re found people repent, you and more people find you and they repin.
You and more people find you and they reap any. Even more people find you it’s awesome. I just started using Pinterest for business less than a month ago, and I’ve already hit 30,000 monthly monthly viewers so using it strategically. Thinking about a good visual thinking about using really good keywords is really going to skyrocket you and get you those sales get them pointing to the right places.
Okay. So when you’re creating your graphics, can you post articles as much as if it is asked you can share links to articles like I Drive a lot of traffic to my YouTube site and gangbusters is how well it’s worked and you can do it. You can, if you have a youtube or whatever use, that little thing that says: share on Pinterest it’ll share right there and it’s awesome yeah. It’S totally driven my traffic way up on my YouTube page.
So, in that sense yeah you can share articles, but it’s not going to play articles natively on Pinterest. Does that make sense, I hope so. Okay, so um when you’re creating your pins, you want to make your own graphics as much as possible. I’Ve already seen a lot of people sharing those same things over and over and over that we see on all the other platforms. So it’s important to share your graphics when you’re creating a graphic.
It’S not like Facebook, Facebook kind of has some rules about their text. On images, or if it’s more than 20 %, that’s going to kind of and they’re not going to show it so much, I’m Pinterest, you can jam it full of text and it won’t have any bearing on it. So this is your chance to make infographics and if you use any image creation software like we’re this way or PicMonkey or canva, or what else does it Oh spark, I love adobe spark.
They will all automatically size an image to Pinterest sizes for you and then you can put on there. Whatever you want um, when you do create your pins, make sure you use like a hook so think of something like mistakes you’re making when or the secret to or five ways to do something or, like you know, things to simplify your life. Things like that are really going to get people to stop and read what you kept going on.
Make sure the text is big and bold and usually, if your PIN has a few photos and then like a colored square, blip, brick area and then the text on that it really pops and it’ll, get people to stop and look and click. So it’s pretty easy. If you know what you’re going to say, but yeah just make those make them really visually appealing and that’s going to get people to be your clickers. So that’s a tip and another thing about Pinterest that I love is it’s easy.
You can really automate Pinterest, which is great, because you can use different apps like later com, tailwind HootSuite, I believe, does it or you can just schedule a bunch of pins ahead of time and have them go live. I was like three a day or, however long you want, so you don’t have to go in because it’s not something like Facebook or Instagram or Twitter, where you need to be communicating with people, you can just schedule them and let them go and let the traffic Pour in and the orders roll over you, so that’s a really great thing about Pinterest too, is it’s totally automatable.
Is that a word? It is now which is great, so that’s my little spiel eesh feeling on Pinterest. I think it’s awesome. You can definitely drive traffic to where you want it to go when you’re pinning things. If you have like one idea for like the content for your pins, try making a few different graphics and see what works better for you, and that way you can see. You know what is actually what the people kind of stop and look at when you make your graphics.
Alright, let’s get some questions. So do you think every paint here senescyt? No, not everyone, would see. I linked them to this different areas. Um. I have a blog. So quite a few of them go there. I do link it to my Sena site. I definitely get to my youtube blog. I haven’t found much traffic going back to Facebook, but what I do is I link everything else that I pointed to does like back to Facebook, and I found people follow through that way.
More okay, so yeah link it to just, but really you can’t make it to where you want them to go. It’S up to you, where you want to drive track it. If you really want to drive your traffic to your Facebook page, you can send them there, but I would, I usually send them to either my semi site or my blog or YouTube, because that’s really, where I’m focusing traffic for myself right now and I’m noticing a Ton of traffic going there, but you just pick where you want them to go and when they click they end up there.
Okay, so let’s, let’s see some questions, I feel like I’ve missed quite a few. How many sales have you gotten in your month on Pinterest? Five, I think that’s pretty good. One of them was a pretty big one too um, it’s a deal II. Didn’T your senator, probably already talked about that and then Bethany said who started using it a couple weeks ago. No luck, except on one. Sometimes one pin is really all you need to like get you going and then you kind of learn from that one pin what worked and hopefully you can try to figure out what the hook was there and how you can replicate it.
I think it’s great. What was I going to say, speaking of sales I have had so I’ve had five sales. I’Ve had quite a few people subscribe to my YouTube blog, which is one of my goals. One of my personal goals for myself is to get those numbers up just views in general on that is going higher and was driving more traffic to my blog, which then drives traffic to the other outlets. You I’m working on my funnel any questions.
Did I talk to you fast? Oh, let’s see how do you know this Hill is two pitches. You have some use. I do yeah. I typically ask people how they found their way to me and then, mostly it was for me kind of keeping an eye out from what time he men you the I’ve kind of found that the sale is kind of come in pretty quickly. After I see, one pin start to do really. Well, that’s how I can kind of figure out that it came through there but yeah.
I typically do ask people how they found me because then it shows me what’s successful and what’s not, maybe where I need to focus some more of my energies on socially or not yeah. I know like Pinterest when I always like, starting to figure out. Oh, my gosh, this is amazing. This is going to be so great for our sales and for our team he’s throw anything else. I love the questions. Oh, let’s see, how do you label your pins? I always wonder that like you’re, the description hold on alright.
So when I read my description, there’s a thing called long tail and short tail keywords: a short tail keyword would be lips eyes. A long tail keyword would be like how to apply lit sense, so try to get as many of those longer ones in that make sense, as you can that’s really going to help, you show up more, oh my gosh, so much is coming. Did that make sense, something keep it. I think you want to keep it broad, that’s the Zipit, you don’t want it to be, you don’t want it to be like red, lipstick, it would be like fall.
Red lips. Sense would be good or, like fall. Coral lip colors things like that to kind of think about: okay, Nicole, I use sinha site for most of my orders. So that’s why I kind of find them there. They come to me that way. If you aren’t using that you could send them to your Facebook. Page or if you that’s, how you could probably send them there, you also do have the option to set up a free blog site on WordPress, and you could have that just as your landing page, where you could do a quick introduction of yourself with your contact Info and tell them how to order that would be a really great option too, if you’re not using Sena site, because then they can email you their order and you can have an introduction.
That is just a really quick and easy link instead of your Facebook page. That’S an idea: okay seems great for people who are in remote locations, yeah people that aren’t kind of in Metro hubs did you spend a lot more time online shopping and looking around and doing things like that too? So it’s a really great way to if you are not near a bunch of people, it’s a great way, also for you to expand your reach outward to.
Let’S see, I’ve never made an original Pinterest post before. How do you get an original pin up there? Do you have to post it on your blog and pin it from there? No, so when you go on Pinterest, if you’re on the web webpage click on your computer up in the corner, there’s a little red circle with a plus in the middle, that’s how you start a pin. So it is you! Click on that you’re, going to upload a picture or an image that you’ve created hopefully and then from there you can so it’ll.
Give you two spaces. One is upload a photo and then the next one is attach a link. Then you click on that and it’ll. Ask you to put in your description and then you post it, and you made your first pin, it’s super easy, that’s it and you can do it on the app too. It’S the same way, there’s the little plus down in the corner, and then you just click on that. You can upload a photo attached, a link and that’s it.
Do you see yourself getting repinned no after month? Yes, I have one that took off just crazy. It gets repinned and I get traffic from it every single day. So if you do one, that’s a really good one: it’ll it’ll be evergreen content and the more it’s shared, oh also tip. If you do have one, that’s really good make a few more images and post it again and again, because you know that’s content that people are going to want to click on so make a couple of different images.
That say the same thing, but look a little different and pin it a few times. It’S awesome. Okay, so I just thought you can upload picture of your computer. Do you know how big and what size to make the pins does it matter off? The top of my head – I don’t know I – should have had that information, but most web know most image generation apps that we use have a preset Pinterest photo size. I know for sure WordPress WordPress, word, swag, canva, PicMonkey and spark for sure them and I’m pretty sure most of the other ones do too, but those are kind of they’ve been for most people use and it has a size for you, alright.
Okay, what? If you don’t have a website, only a Facebook page link it to your Facebook page. It’S totally up to your goals and where you want people to go, if you don’t have either like I said before, just create that was a Katy’s question. Just sometimes your Facebook page, if there’s great content on your Facebook page once they clip through they’ll, start scrolling and liking and you’ve hooked them that way.
So wherever you have for people to contact, you send them there they’ll they’ll go there. Let’S see have you created any boards targeting potential recruits, I haven’t created a board specifically, but I have a few pins out there, I’m kind of seeing how they’re going they’re getting decent traffic. I haven’t gotten any new team members as of yet, but I’ve only really started that in the last week or so so that I’ll take a little bit of time, but it does, it does get traffic.
So people are out there looking to learn more about the opportunity, so definitely share that information too. Okay. What else can you tell us your Pinterest? So we can see yours? You can start as many as you want. I guess I have like Instagram, for example, I’m all about starting a new profile for everyone, but if you feel Jennifer that you want to combine them and figure that out totally cool yeah, but just kind of really whatever works for your strategy is the best. I just really like to keep them separate. Like I’ve got five interesting, Instagram accounts, it’s a little crazy, isn’t it being spread of here the best anything else.

Thank you for answer, you’re asking this question. I know this is a few weeks back, so forgive me. I just have so many articles that are that are already set in queue to go out so, depending on when you’re reading this Michael, it might have been a few weeks out, but I truly appreciate you managed.
I appreciate you for asking the question and subscribing to the blog. This is a really good question. Man really really good question that I get a lot I and whether it’s a real estate agent or just a local business owner. Here’S the bottom line, creating your own audience is the best thing you can do, especially with Facebook advertising, for the simple fact that Facebook allows you to create what what they call custom audiences custom audiences are people who are actually engaging with your stuff, whether they’re commenting On your stuff, whether they’re liking your stuff, whether they’re reading articles – and this is all when it comes to advertising and also yeah when it mainly when it comes to advertising when you’re running Facebook, ads or Instagram ads and you’re creating custom audiences around everything that’s happening.
That’S when the demographics, the targeting and none of that really matters, and I advise clients on this every single day. That’S why what I, what I normally try to do, is, if I’m going to work with a client. The number one thing that they have to be willing to do is introduce themselves and introduce themselves on article because my strategy and what I’ve been doing for the past few years, with with my local clients, is the fact that, just because you’ve been in your area, Let’S say, for example, you’re, a local business owner and you have a brick and motar.
You know a building, an office, a local storefront right and, let’s say you’ve been in that local area for 15 years 20 years and let’s say you live in a busy city like I do in San Diego, where there’s over 3 million people. Ok, there’s many many businesses, man, hundreds of businesses in my local area, that fit that criteria that have been there been here for that long and but you know what’s so crazy, is that there’s still hundreds of thousands of people? Let’S not call it Millions, because there’s only three million right, but there’s hundreds of thousands of people that have never heard of that business.
Okay and that’s a fact like look in your local area, you know how many businesses are out there and do you know every business in your area. You don’t even know every business two miles away from you right. So it’s like these people in your local area. The intro article could be so powerful when it comes to your brand recognition when it comes to people in your local area, knowing who you are, and so what I always advise and – and my whole strategy is to is to introduce yourself because you don’t know your Whole local area pull out your cell phone and either you’re doing this Michael or you’re, going to advise your clients to do this.
Okay, you’re going to pull out your phone and you’re going to introduce yourself and you’re going to run that as a facebook. Article view ad and target your local area and put some money behind it. You know don’t just spend $ 10 on it. You know, put 50 bucks, put a hundred bucks and just target that local area to get thousands of people to see your article. It could be a short three-minute article of you introducing yourself if you’re a solopreneur and in an on and an in an individual business owner like a real estate agent, for example, it’s even more easier for you pull out your phone, introduce yourself if you’re doing this.
For businesses, where they may not be that selfie holding the phone type of person take your phone and go out there and get the article done for them. I would do that if they were a local business owner and if I lived in that local area, I would go out there and I would interview them and I would just simply introduce themselves because with that first article, you guys – and I want you to look At it as a four week campaign, this is week number one in that first week, you’re going to take that intro, article and you’re, going to run a article view ad and depending on what you’re in housing or or whatever you’re, going to check that box and Then you come down and it’s article views, but this is the first you’re going to run that as an ad to capture an audience of people who viewed it.
Okay, that is a custom audience now back over to what Michael is saying. I’Ve been wanting to ask you this. As far as real estate Facebook marketing goes, which I know you were an expert. How can you do well for real estate client? How can you do well for real estate clients with all the minimized demographic targeting? Fb has just put in place things like not being able to select certain neighborhoods, you know have the higher income ranges I would like.
I would think that hinders offering FB ad services to Realtors now that they have implement now that they have implemented this. I was thinking of hitting that market which some of the FB training I have taken, but I have steered away from it due to what I am entering. I am mentioning here, yeah very good points, Michael, but here’s what I’m saying none of that matters. None of that matters none of that matters, because here’s what you want to do, yeah you can’t Facebook changed all that because of discrimination.
You can’t discriminate what a lot of Realtors would do is they would run ads to high income ZIP codes and they would discriminate everyone else. So Facebook completely took out the zip code targeting the gender, the age and a lot of the and a lot of the the homeowner detail targeting right. So Facebook took out a lot of that, and and and and that’s why. My my strategy holds even stronger because, as you go and run that article view right, as you run, multiple article ads and you’re running them under article views, what you want to do is start creating custom audiences around everyone, who’s reading it.
So, for example, if I come up here and hit the three the three lines and come down to all tools and then go to audiences, this is where I’m going to set up custom audiences of people who are reading the articles. Okay, so that’s what you’re able to do you want to click on this blue button right here at the top, so we’re going to click on this, create audience and we’re going to come down to custom audience, okay and so here’s what we want to do.
There’S many many different ways you can. You can create custom audiences, but what I like to do is I like to do article and then what I’m going to do is I’m going to I’m going to create an audience around 50 % people who readed 50 % of your 4 minute article that right There is a powerful, powerful, retargeting campaign, so I’m going to grab. Let’S say it’s an intro article right and that’s why personal articles personal branding is so important because it’s so it’s it’s so personal.
When people see you on article – and I always talk about this on my youtube blog, the only reason why you guys are here is because you see my face on frickin article. It’S the only reason man, it’s the absolute only reason if I was writing a blog. None of you guys would be reading that none of you guys, because it’s article you guys are feeling like you know me, like you like me and like you, can trust me because you’re seeing my characteristics, you’re, seeing my personality you’re, seeing my imperfections you’re, seeing my Nuances, you’re, seeing all my flaws you’re, seeing all that right because of article so when you can start putting yourself out on article and targeting your local local market, ok, not talking about splatting it on on social media, splatting, spaghetti against the wall to see what sticks! No I’m talking about in your local backyard.
When you could start running your articles, people are going to start reading them and then, as you start to create custom audiences around all those people who read certain articles, look I can, I can go choose articles and, depending on the business page, I can come down Here and choose any article that I want to retarget the people who viewed it that right there is powerful. So if it was this one, let’s say I go with that one I wan na I wan na.
I want to re. I want to create a custom audience, I’m going to name this one audience name: intro, intro, article re targeting so I’m going to use this article right. This was the intro article, I’m going to use it to retarget the people who viewed it with my next ad. That’S why the detail targeting all that stuff man, none of that matters, none of it matters, because, because you’re targeting a local area that that’s that’s mainly the the big one, is the fact that if I was a nationwide business, if I was an e-commerce business – and I was selling products online, all across the country or all around the world, then the targeting would be a little different, but because I’m targeting my local backyard, where there’s only so many people right, I don’t need to detail target.
I need to just create audiences around people who are liking me right and that’s why the intro article is so powerful, because if you can run it long enough and if you can get thousands of people to view it there goes, your audience could continue to put New ads in front of the people who are reading your old ones, so that branding could be literally on a whole nother level. As people start to see your article in marketing advertising, the old rule, the old rule of thumb is a person has to see your ad seven eight times before they make any kind of decision right, whether it’s a good decision or a bad decision.
They have to see an advertisement multiple times to to really recognize that brand, and so, when it comes to your article marketing and you start targeting your local area, it only takes a few articles before the people in that local area start to notice. You start to see you all the time in the newsfeed and become indoctrinated with your content, especially if you’re putting out value based articles right.
What am I doing over here on YouTube? I’M educating you guys right. Some of you guys are learning some of you guys. Aren’T but that’s my whole goal is to educate, educate, educate, bring value via article now. These are longer longer form article right, it’s YouTube, but in your ads you’ll keep it shorter three, four or five minutes. You know – maybe maybe ten minutes if that but um, but but what you’re doing is you’re literally getting people indoctrinated with your good value-based content, if you’re bringing value and educating the end consumer educating your potential customer educating your potential client on your products and services or On market in general, people start to know like and trust you and because we’re building custom audiences around all these people who are viewing our articles, the detailed targeting and all that stuff doesn’t even matter so as I come in here and if I am housing.
If I am real estate based on what Michael is, you know asking make sure you’re checking right there and then and then what you can do is when you’re running article views article views is one thing: you only want to run article views to create custom audiences. I’M going to click right there and there goes my intro article retargeting, so I can choose that right there and not even worry about anything else. I could take out the United States I could I could still put in my city because I don’t want it. I don’t want to forget about anyone else, because chances are that first audience is not even that big, so I’ll go people living in this location and I’ll just target that area some more so I’ll, create San, Diego California and then now that’s it.
I can go up to 50 miles if I want, but I don’t need to worry about age, gender. If it’s an if it’s all English I’d go English all and then I wouldn’t even worried about detail targeting. Remember we’re talking about a local area right, we’re talking about. Let’S go up to 50 miles and this Reach is in calculating right because there’s way more people who live in San Diego, but I’m retargeting that custom audience I’m still targeting the city, and I don’t need to worry about it in any of this detail.
Targeting because all I’m going to keep doing, you guys is keep building custom audiences around people who are reading my stuff. So if I’m going after an area of, let’s just say a million people at the after my first ad, let’s just call it. Let’S just call your first two ads run a article view ad run it for two weeks, run it for 14 days under article views and get thousands of people to read it put ten dollars a day, spend a hundred and forty bucks.
This is the foundation. This is where you start your Facebook campaign and then you and now you have an audience of people who are in who readed your stuff right. Fifty percent twenty five percent, three percent of your article and all you’re going to do – is just piggyback off of that audience. We’Re in another article, article ad in a couple weeks, create a custom audience retarget that audience so all you’re doing is getting back in front of people who are reading your stuff man and again because of the article marketing people are falling in love with you and Because you’re bringing value and not just pitching people right, what do I do over here? There’S no way in hell someone’s going to just sit there for a minute and read your article on real estate if they were nowhere in the market like at all at all like if you were not a homeowner, if you’re, not even planning on buying or selling In the future, there’s absolutely no way in hell.
You would continue to read people’s articles on real estate, like not at all, especially if they’re talking about how to buy a house and you’re, not even thinking about about buying one right, so the people are reading your stuff. Man is your ideal audience. That’S your ideal. Client – and you want to just build your own forget about the targeting again because we’re in a local area. Now, if we were in a nationwide, if we were running in a nationwide business, then putting in some targeting some detail targeting would make more sense, because I don’t want to target everyone right in the country, we’re talking freakin hundreds of millions of people.
I don’t want to target all of them. I need to break it down and target certain interest groups right: nationwide marketing, but local men, local, you, you, don’t. You only have a small amount of people anyways. So why not just target the entire area? The entire city lead the targeting blink leave the yeah leave the targeting blank. Don’T even don’t even worry about that and just start creating your own audiences around your own marketing around your own message.
That’S why I’m telling you man the people who crush it and just look at it right now. It’S perfect! It’S a perfect example: the people who are actually crushing it are people who who actually put themselves out on article so again, whether it’s article marketing, whether it, whether it’s YouTube, marketing, whether it’s Facebook marketing Instagram article marketing, it does not matter it’s like it’s article man.
It’S article and and when you think about who the hell you’re following you’re following them because of their article you’re, not following them for any other reason, man you’re not following them just because they have a cool Instagram account if you’re following people, people like that randomly Then you’re just you’re just a social media follower, but if you’re actually trying to learn some chances are you’re following someone on YouTube and why is that? Because it’s article, I’m telling you man so when you can implement article marketing and that’s why? Michael, I don’t take on every client man, because not every clients willing to put themselves on article.
That’S where my whole, I draw the line in the sand on it’s. The fact that you have to you have to be willing to put out article man and that’s kind of now, not ever that’s not mandatory right, it’s not mandatory. You got people that crush it with with Facebook, advertising with running image, ads right, and I and I run image ads too, but but I want to put out some articles. I want to sprinkle some articles throughout the month, if that’s a monthly client or if you’re, looking at this, Michael as as your own business, you want to put a few articles out per month because again, that’s what’s going to create the custom audience.
That’S what’s going to create your audience, so you can then stay top of mind up and stay in front of at all times. Man take over your local area. Tell your clients, hey man. What else are we going to do to get in front of your local audience like? What else can we do mr. Business owner? Do you have the budget for a TV commercial? Do you have the budget for a radio ad? Do you have a budget for the look for the freaking um excuse my language, but this this stuff fires me up.
Man. Do you have the frickin budget for a billboard? Do you have a budget for 10,000 flyers? Do you have the budget to hire a call center and have telemarketers call out? Do you want a door knock like how else can you get your message in front of your local audience? It’S the most powerful way, man in 2020 and in in from, as far as I can see it’s going to be social media marketing. Facebook, Ads Instagram, ads YouTube ads article marketing.
So, if you’re putting out a businessman, let the area know who the hell? You are. Let them know what you do, let them know how far’d you up. Are you fired up? You are and build that custom audience, so you can stay in front of them and stay top of mind of your best. Clients are a guide so Michael. I hope that answer your question. I wanted to take a few minutes to shoot a couple sort of articles, that of topics that I’m getting questions a lot from. So if you guys don’t know, you know we deal with thousands, we I think we have 14,000 final expense Medicare. You know life insurance agents in our in our database, and so we get questions every single day by the multitudes and every time I can kind of notice a theme of questions.
I really try to realize. Okay, there’s an appetite for this, so let’s just go ahead and address it on a article. So today I want to discuss a topic that I think is really interesting, that I want to walk through, and that is: should you as a final expense or insurance life insurance producer? Should you be using social media? Should you be using your personal page or you, should you be using your business page to make your engaging content so, first off, I want to kind of explain they both have their place and let me try and explain what I, in my opinion, what you should Be doing and 2019 and going into 2020 now before I give you this article and content, I want to give you guys a quick disclaimer.
I am NOT a licensed insurance agent. I do not have a book of business on the insurance front, I’m just the marketing guy that works with Cody on all his stuff, and I just work with insurance producers all day long. I think today, you know I’ve got six meetings with individual producers or large. You know insurance, you know IMO’s or whatever it is, and so I just kind of have my ear on the ground on what’s going on in the insurance world.
So this is my opinion, but I’m going to give you my opinion on this. So one of the things that I believe is important for you guys as individuals, is to really activate your personal social media page and use that as a business asset. Now, what I mean is is don’t, don’t always be selling, don’t be sitting there and like pitching your products all the time. Another mistake that I see people do is, I feel like they try to use fear as a tactic, to incite like a call to action with some of their memes, that they post or some of their content, that they post like make sure it’s positive.
So like what I mean by that is is a big mistake is, I think, trying to say something like you know this person’s, you know loved one passed away and they didn’t have life insurance and I met with them a month ago and too bad for them. Obviously, no one would say it in those words, but that’s kind of the heart of what the message was and I don’t think that’s wise. I think you need to be positive and uplifting and communicating stories doing Facebook live articles with people that you’ve helped in a positive way.
Try not to go down that negative path of like of the fear-based sort of you know. Look you need to be protected or else kind of language. That’S probably not ideal, because there’s enough of that negativity on Facebook, I would just rise above that, if you can, you know not just negativity on Facebook, but you know at all social media. So what I try to do is I try to understand that my customers, I I’ve always friend, I basically never unfriend or defriend anybody.
I think I’m almost of 5,000 friends, which is the cap, but until I get to 5,000 I’m pretty much just anybody that wants in you can you can come in I I am immediately turned off if someone pitches me right off the bat or whatever or tries To give me to partner with them or something just like you guys would as well. So you know one of the things that I’d like for you guys to try and work on on your personal sort of Facebook.
Page is, I think you should add your clients to your Facebook feed. I really do because a lot of times these individuals, one of the things that we’re fighting as you know, Medicare or you know final expense or life insurance or whatever we’re fighting that losing you know keeping business on the books and, if you’re, starting to post things About your family and how you’re coaching your son’s basketball team and how you had an exciting family reunion – and it’s like you know if you can bring people along that journey of how you’re a family person it kind of it kind of relates to those individuals.
And I feel like you’re staying top of mind with them without actually having to like potentially email them. You know directly or reach out to them directly, etc. So I don’t have any data to say those that are active on social media tend to keep business on the books, but I believe that is the case, and it is true based on feedback that I’ve been given, and I believe that is something you should pay Attention to so, I try to separate my social media posts into three main categories.
What I try to do is make sure that, no matter what I’m always exuding like fun and exciting things and showing behind the curtain of Who I am as a person an example, if you guys were to go to my Facebook feed last week, I think, or Week before last, I got a jury summons and that initial sort of you know jury summons, like gosh. I got to take a day and I may take me a week to get to this jury, so my initial reaction was how do I get out of this, but as I started to think and reflect on that, I thought it was a good important way to Kind of show really just share some insight on the whole experience and just help.
People understand that maybe haven’t been into a jury, summons situation. How I was looking at the situation and by doing that, I felt like I was able to show a portion of who I was as a person as well, and so I made like a pretty long, lengthy Facebook post about my experience with jury summons and my Perspective on that – and I ended up getting quite the engagement on that actual Facebook post and when you go through and you look through the people that read my story that I posted to went to.
Instagram read my story there and actually engaged in the actual Facebook post that I made. I bet you 40 percent, if not more than that of people that I actually liked and commented on, that actual page was clients or people that I’ve done business with in the past or people that I would consider you know influencers in who I care that you Know I want to be in front of meaning I respect and there’s mutual respect there.
It’S not just Uncle John and cousin Nathan and you know cousin mark and all those guys did engage you know in my stuff, but a good 40 50 percent was clients. So I feel like by me allowing people to come in behind the curtain, of who I am as a person and and walking through I’m a father, I’m a husband, I’m a you know a believer I make you know these these posts. That kind of show me as a person, so that’s one core sort of pillar that my social media stands on.
Another thing that I do quite a bit is, I try to make people laugh from. I just feel like social media sometimes gets a bad rap for being negative. I mean good grief and it’s about to get even more negative with 2020, with these elections coming it’s about to be a cesspool of negativity and everybody. What’S going to end up happening? Is people are going to kind of like get annoyed and start just looking at it less? Because it’s about to be this horrible situation of the Democrats, hating the Republicans, the Republicans saying the Democrats and Trump always debates who won? Who didn’t win? It’S about to be a nightmare.
Okay, and what I mean by nightmare is is there’s some people that like enjoy that dialogue and all that, but good grief like raise your hand if you’ve changed someone’s mind on Facebook arguing. So I try to just stay as far away from that as I can and be short. If someone wants to call me out on anything, you know, then I’m short with trying to defend myself and just kind of say. I guess we just unfriend me or whatever cuz you know, so I tried it like make people laugh.
I do that by like posting memes and just kind of having fun so and then I also talked about business successes and the growth that we’re seeing and the winds that we’re experiencing and just I try to like keep it all positive. You know like, for instance, you know, there’s, there’s business struggles that sometimes I can you know potentially maybe share, but I’m always sharing the upside of that struggle that we went through I’m never just using Facebook as a platform to vent.
Now I made a huge mistake: he was five six years ago where I just used Facebook. As like this platform, I think some people can end up using a soapbox there’s because really, if you were to think about it, there’s no other place for you to reach a thousand people. And then, then, your facebook feed right now, like you, couldn’t just go reach a thousand people if you wanted to okay. So what ends up happening is is subconsciously, whether you realize or not.
If you have a topic that you’re passionate about you’re, usually going to go to Facebook and project that – and I always try to like I’m not saying you got to be friends with everybody and you know even guys like Grant Cardone or whoever will say you know, You need to have such a strong position that you repel after your audience and attract another half further, I’m okay with that. I’M not saying that’s wrong, but I just don’t think it’s wise, because I have people that I love and respect and care about deeply that are staunch on the other side of the aisle from where I was and that’s great like I want to hear their opinions.
I want to hear their ideas. I want to hear who they are as a person, because they’re, not bad people, and just because we disagree doesn’t mean we have to like you know, butt heads, especially on social media, where everyone can see it. You know. So it’s like you know, I believe that you know I try to walk that line of being you know, I don’t want to be politically correct, like in in terms of like who I am as a person in one-on-one conversation is, is one thing but Who I Am on social media? I try not to be very like divisive, because I feel like that, doesn’t help anybody and it only hurts like I’ve.
Had some people say you know I’m doing business with you because I, like you, know your your personal perspective and I was when I was a little bit more armchair politician if you will, but I’m sure I’ve pushed people away as well, and so I just try To be friends with a lot of people and not anti anybody, so that’s how I would recommend using your social media as a individual insurance professional, because the insurance business is a relationship game, more people, you get in front of the more people you can impact, and So, on the flip side, I’m going to shoot a next article on how to use your your professional page as opposed your personal page.

So I will go ahead and say: if you are running Windows, I think I would take additional security precautions, but if you’re on Mac or Linux, I think you might be fine, there’s also other operating systems out there and really, if you haven’t heard of it, and Maybe you’ve: ok, if you are the only person that really knows about it, that you know of you might be good unless it’s some ranky thig that someone just made it just handed to you, but usually those types of operating systems are very secure too, because not A lot of people know about them and they’re safe.
So let’s get into this article we’re going on the Deep Web. I hope I don’t go on the dark web, so I’m going to be using tor browser. That seems to be one of the most popular accesses to the Deep Web, and this is nothing more than just a web browser. It’S Firefox based and basically what this does is allows you to have pretty much a non traceable IP, although there is really no such thing on the Internet.
I think it’s kind of funny how, even if you have so many different security precautions, there is someone out there always better than you and can definitely track you back know where you live know what’s happening, so there’s no very secure way. There’S no such thing as complete security when you are accessing the Internet, the only way that you’re really secure is to buy a computer and never connect it to the internet.
Just have a computer that is internet free, that is the most secure and then physical security becomes a problem. So just know that even if you’re running all these different IP switchers you’ve got, you got all these different programs running you’re, never completely secure. So I don’t fall for a false sense of security, but let’s get into the Deep Web, so we’re going to be seeing things that are real, there’s, there’s real drugs, hitmen prostitution.

We accepted really exciting for you guys today. So Cindy whoops are one of my favorite tools right, so the city whoops. This is the Shen drone. Skort we’ve got a couple of them. What I love about these is that they can do things that other camera systems can you can’t go from really high to low to through to under to over, in the way that these kinds of systems can I’ve been really inspired by people like Robert McIntosh, who Is this the founder of realist, uh D, there’s a skateboarding article called pretty sweet and Thomas Mackintosh made the intro for that article back in like 2012, when drones like didn’t even fly.
He did this awesome single, take movement where he started up over a round threw down just like we’re, trying to create here today that style of filmmaking really inspired me. So I got really excited about the Sheng drone squirt when Andy Shen sent it to me. Okay, so let’s break down the parts that are going to go into this build and in case you didn’t figure it out by now. This is not just following me talking about how cool cinder whoops are for two hours.
This is a build article, so the syndrome squirt swings 3-inch props that are cut down to like two point, eight inches. So the idea with these ducks is that they actually increase air flow as it comes in so as the air flow as air gets pulled into the ducks. It increases the speed at which it goes through and that in turn adds extra thrust, and so, in order to make this fly better, the Ducks are there and you have to have the the props as finally as close as you can to the outside of the Duck companies like jump in have come out with props that are actually designed for the Shen drone.
Squirt like it became a popular enough thing that they designed props custom-made for Kay, and in case it’s not obvious. There are links to all of the parts for this build, including these props and everything else we’re using are macho down in the article descriptions down in the article description of this and for sale on the rotor right store. V2 s. We chose the 30 to 50 kV variant, and these are some pretty smooth mode when you’re going for smooth flying. You definitely don’t want a super super nachi motor, so we’ve got the Hobby wing g2 stack. This is a 60 FPS see it’s probably overkill for that. This drone, but I love like I’m, sponsored by copying I walking, I use everything from hobby wing, okay, but this is just like the perfect DSC, just the same EFC Vanover races with the 60 amp hobby wing.
I think so. This is like Vanover race, this for a whole season and said it was the most bulletproof ESC. I race it for all seasons. I mean one of my ears. One of them is, I’m just you know, let’s not get into it, and then also we’re going to be working with the DJI fpv unit. We’Re going to this we’re in a high definition bill. You certainly can do you fly typically high def, or do you fly analog mostly? I file a lot of both, but for cine stuff.
I definitely lean on the side of the hair unit, especially for environments like this, where you can kind of you go forever. You have no breakup, no multipathing and just the clearest signal possible. Well, one of the things I love most about flying with DJI is that if, for some reason your GoPro article craps out, you have like a semi usable backup, it’s very nice to have that 1080. Recording on board this frame that we’re working with is the Shen drones squirt and that was designed by andy shen.
Just for anybody who doesn’t know who is Andy, Sheng he’s my sensei he’s started. Designing drone frames way back when, and it eventually came up with this design. He was designing. Drone frames like when for drove for drone frames were a thing, and I think we kind of have forgotten how much we got from him. If you want to check out his website, Shandra is calm. Drones are one of my favorite things about Andy is that he does design log, yes of all, of the missteps and failures of designing a quadcopter frame before.
Finally, sometimes he results in a commercial frame, and sometimes he just gives up and says this doesn’t work. Thank you Andy. We all wouldn’t be here without the work that you did. Where do we start the bill? Paul the best place to start is with a little bit of frame assembly. That’S where I like to start, especially because we’re going to need to Loctite everything. So with with all of these guys, I find that there ends up being like some sort of weird oscillation.
That is never like detectable on footage or anything like that, but it eventually works the screws loose. So especially when you’re with the Ducks like, you really have to push them on and off and pull them on and off, and when you do that a whole bunch, like eventually you’re, going to start losing your screws and stuff like that. So I lock tight. I don’t I almost never lock tight. I actually take a lot of heat for never lock tight at all, so I just chose the one time check your screws that they’re tight and you’ll be fine, but not on this build, don’t say: watertight, get some locked at blue lot! Tape right, blue, oxford, blue, but not a red stuff.
You know some people may be used to seeing me be the guy, giving me instructions and taking the lead, but today I’m just learning from Paul in providing comic relief, good to see people finally working in their strengths. So are you’re just dipping those screws in the Loctite a little bit before you put them on and you’re installing the vertical stand up right, yeah, so there’s three tiny little ones that are on the outside and then there’s four on the inside and on different sized Standoffs, I don’t know the length so they different size.
Yes, no, it’s great, because the Ducks so the Ducks don’t go all the way through here. So that’s the thing, so you need those smaller ones. I mean outside of it in the middle. Let’S take a look. We got these smaller ones on the outside and longer ones. Where are they going to go they’re going to go on the floor in the middle onto that or the frames, and then the look, and then this will all sit all the way through it and actually look ends up looking really good, because then you have this Full TPU kind of carpet yeah it’s great, but you have to remember not to put the long ones on them.
Oh those are ones that I see the longer ones are the green ones. Yes, yeah. The black ones are the smaller ones. Oh. That makes it easy at least they’re a different color Andy loves his pastel colors. So let’s see dogs, what does he ever? They Corgi yeah. We let I’m thinking about corgis and I put the wrong standoff on wow. Let’S put some pictures of corgis up on this article of maybe Andy’s own for the druze scratching his head behind me as if no we’ll edit this part out, but no corgis yeah.
The ceilings are great. I would get that motor son next. Do you want to do that I’ll be happy to do that? I would also Loctite those okay in the same exact reason: Billy’s abduct all all the stuff in place. No that’s so I’m installing these motors well he’s finishing installing those motors I’m going to start opening up the SC, because that’ll be our next yep. It’S a good idea. I haven’t done this because I’m assuming that we’ve done our research, it’s a good idea when you do a build.
The very first time check the length of the motor, take your screw and hold it against the frame where it’s going to be and see. If it is going to extend past the end of the motor base, because if the screw is too long and touches the windings, it will cut into the insulation on the windings and damage them and basically destroy your motor. And you may be thinking well. The screws came with the motor, so surely they’re the right length, but the problem is that the motor designer doesn’t know how thick your frame is going to be, and they’ve made some assumption.
So you always want to double-check this. I didn’t double-check this, and these screws are like half a millimeter away from touching the windings and they are really really close. I’M not touching you! So if you buy the Hobby wing stack as like a one complete kit like the both the flight controller and the ESC, it comes with all the hardware you need to like the status and the standoffs all that inside of the frame.
But we have brought ourselves separate individual ones, so we’re kind of scrounging for somebody that some of you would have bought them separate individually to not because we’re unprepared. So what we’ve got here for hardware is these are 25 millimeter m3 screws, and these are some just little nylon, threaded spacers, these are actually metal, but you’ll probably use a nylon yeah. What I would suggest to do is just get like a m3 nylon.
Spacer assortment pretty sure it’s sold on the rotor I’d store, there’s a link in the article description. If there, if it is, it comes with these spacers in various lengths. Well, Joshua is here screwing around yeah, I’m going to go ahead and tin up our ESC so that we have it all ready before I work on any electronics always make sure that it’s tinned and that we will be able to make nice clean joints on it.
That it’s not likely enjoy because I’m standing so far away from this for the purposes of the camera. So let’s get a close-up here of the placement. So there is a front and a back right, let’s be clear: how can they identify the front in the back? You need to leave space for the fpv air unit, and this like this is the version of the shin drone squirt, that’s built for the air unit. So if you look at the bag, you can see that there’s plenty of room left for the right.
The magical bodice, but here we’ve got a set of 20 millimeter holes and another set of 20 club with one two three and one two: three that’s sort of the front, and then this space back here with no holes is the back and we’ve got four of Our m3 screws going through the front set of 30 millimeter mounting holes the outside one, giving us some spacing from the bottom plate excellent. Normally, I would just mount the ESC with the capacitor and the battery leaves poking out the back me too, but not this time.
Not on this squirt, because why? So because we have to put the fpv air unit out the back, essentially like this, with the capacitor there and the big battery tab zones all in the way, yes see it’s getting in the way. So how should we do it? He shows so I would just take everything and turn it sideways. Okay, you know I’m going out one side and I’ve played around with it a bunch and if you put the ducts on it, will still fit with the capacitor and what we’re going to need to do.
Also, this we’re just going to bend the capacitor up a little bit right, just keep it at where I wanted it. Oh you did. That was right where you want it. Yeah yeah, it’s like off to the side a little bit and off we’ll see when we put the duct on you’ll, see why the capacitor has to go there exactly okay, cool yeah. We did it with battery lead on. Let’S try a little bit too long. I was trying to kind of measure it out so like essentially once the standoffs are on here and then the top lights on.
You don’t need a ton of length on the squirt to reach the battery length. So I’m thinking something like yeah, okay, so I’ll cut. It here I heard you weren’t that impressed with my soldering, you make it fun of my soldering. There was a article about the white noise, I’m a race wire, I’m in Debian, and your biggest complaint about it was that they were hard to solder, because the pads are so close together that you bridge the pads, no never lost a lot of people have that Problem before we try to put the xc60 pigtail on, we want to tin up the leads so that it’s easier to get make that joint, don’t breathe this stuff.
That was really bad for you, yeah, very bad for you, okay, so these are now tend up. Are positive is towards the front end the way we’d have this configured should always double check this a few times, yeah double triple check that you could red to red to positive and black to negative, but there’s a camera guy there and there and there and they’re All reading too so they know that we did it right.
So soldering is the thing that a lot of people struggle with in this hobby because nobody gets into fpv because they want to learn to solder. They want to learn to fly, and soldering is just an annoying thing that you got to get out of the way in order to get in the air. But if you’re bad at soldering, your quad copters are going to fly bad and fall out of the sky. So this is not a soldering tutorial, but if you’re struggling to solder this great big xt60, that may be a sign that you should practice soldering some more before you finish the rest of the build, because this is the most forgiving of the pads, the great big Ones, the little tiny ones are just going to come off.
It’S also the most difficult because you need so much heat right, but the point is it: this will. If your technique is bad, this will show you that your technique is bad. So, what’s good technique what’s good technique, good technique is to have a hot temperature controlled iron. If you have one of those like 30 watt irons that isn’t temperature controlled, it doesn’t have a thermostat that you turn up and down.
That’S not as good clean tip, clean silver, shiny tip, not an oxidized chip. If you put solder on the tip and the solder blueballs up instead of spreading out on the tip, stop do not proceed, you need a new tip or you need to clean your tip. If you are having trouble getting your solder to flow, it’s all craggy and not turning liquid that as a sign, your irons, not hot enough, it’s not driving heat into the joint.
Another thing you generally don’t want to do. Is you want to lay the wire flat against the pad? You don’t want to come out like this, because then there’s not a lot of surface contact between the end of the wire see. The strands of the wire are just kind of like and they’re, not not getting good surface contact how’d you. Sometimes you can get away yeah. I want the. I want the leads to come out, because this is a really high gauge wire you’d picture like the battery strap going on and holding it like that yeah, so that then the lead of the battery will just come in a plug on the back like that.
So probably not going to check many of these batteries anyway, so it really doesn’t matter if that’s a very sound joint next step motors motors, so we’ve got the xc60 wired up. Yes, now we’re going to do the motor. She knows. I got three motor wires nope. I got three motor pegs yep. Does it matter the order? It does not matter the order, depending on who you ask it, how you want so each of the motor steps to spin a different direction, write a cork, the opposite, corners, spin, opposite or the same direction as each other and then next to each other spin, the Opposite direction, there’s two ways to change the motor direction.
The first is, you can solder, so there’s three wires. Those are the individual phases of the motor. If you swap any two phase, the direction that the motor spins is reversed, but you can also use software to program the ESC and change the direction digitally now, I’m kind of of the opinion that you just get it right when you build it, that’s just easier. Does this, how do you know which way they’re going to? Oh you just you swap the leads.
Do you have the motor spin exactly okay, but some to keep an eye out the other way, I’m of the opinion when I, when I water it, I just run the wires straight. It makes clean neat wiring and then, rather than pull up my soldering iron back out, I just rather do it on the computer. One way is not better than the other. It totally doesn’t matter as long as the motor ends up spending the right direction.
At the end of the day, exactly all right like going to sideways that cool, so I’m kind of just gauging out the distance of the wire that I want I’ll pull it out, get it nice and tight. I always have a mistake I make where I get. The motor exactly the right length, then I strip it and pin it and cut it, and then it’s too short. I always leave myself like three millimeters of slack to avoid it, because once you’ve made a motor wire to short, it’s a real pain to fix.
I did that I just going to spoke. You cut wires to exactly the right length. They’Ll be too short. Moving a slack is good in a quad, because a little bit of slack also helps take up vibration. If things are really taut, then when you crashing stuff, then they break okay, one two: three: there you go all right. You probably put a zip tie or something on that, but we’ll do that. Oh yeah! This is all no.
No. This is an exact science like at this point. It kind of becomes an art project. How pretty do you want to make it theirs is how effective, but not that pretty and effective, have to be mutually exclusive, but I’m much more on that. Just get it done and flying side because well more than that, my clubs are race, quads and they all get beat the crap. It must be really different for you flying a sin of look because sin whoops, you know a lot less nice.
You know all right. So the front I’m going to run them underneath this flight controller just going to pass them around instead of in front of the standoffs, really lift this guy up a little huh, oh yeah! If you do that, you want to be real careful when you push it down, not to pinch the wires. You know what I’m not even going to cut those back. I think they’re going to be just right: okay, so the motor starting it all of our motors soldered up very important to double check that there are no solder bridges correct that none of these are touching each other.
Basically, so the way I do that just give the motor a little spin and if it’s three wheels at all, it’s fine if it stops immediately. That is really clever. There’S a principle called fete drag, which means that when two phases are shorted to each other to know the work for that it will actually kind of self break, I’m trying to using the screwdriver to short these two, this whole. Oh there you go.
Oh yeah, look! So now there’s a ton of resistance in order to move the motor, but then, when I release it, it spins and that’s how you know it’s got a shorter rod, so really good. Okay motor started up next flight controllers. Right, if I like control, is super easy because it comes with this plug you just plug it in here, you plug it in there. So here we go boom plug and go ahead, I’ll, let you but man or we need these spacers.
Don’T we yeah here’s the hair of the spacers? Let’S jump the gun, you put those spacers on, don’t screw em down so tight that you crush those gummies. Those gummies are for vibration, isolation, vibration, isolation is important, it makes the quad run smoother and it helps protect. The delicate electronics from damage when you crash that’s not as big a deal on a sinner woof which shouldn’t be crashed, super Superfest.
Most of the time read me: we’ve hope, but especially if you’re building a racing or freestyle quad, that’s why the ESC has gummies on it, even though the ESC doesn’t actually have vibration, sensitive instruments like the flight controller, so squeeze them down tight enough that the gummies Are just a little compressed, but not so tight that they’re completely crushed and the vibration isolation is defeated, so the flight controller we have this plugged in and then we can plug into the ESC.
Ok, now we turn the ESC sideways yep. Do we need to turn the flight controller sideways? No, ok! So because we’re not using so the ESC is built to be put in forward so that you just wire each corner directly. Together. Now we’ve turned it so each motor is now corresponding to a incorrect pad, though them yeah exactly so we’re going to have to do some work in software later, so we might as well just cleanly mount our flight controller.
This way, because we’re going to have to do work on it anyway. One thing I can’t help, but notice is that puts the USB port facing the back that there’s no way so with the squirt there’s no way to heat reach the flight control through the USB anyway, oh because it has the ducts, so you have to take it Apart to use the USB not ideal, no there’s no improvement Andy well. I mostly thought about like getting like a USB extension.
Well you’re, just like a little ya know. That is one annoying thing about the squirt, but what’s like the beauty of this is like once you build it, you have everything working, you put it together and I just don’t ever have to change anything. You don’t break props on it. You don’t burn electronics like it, just is done and it works alright. So here I put these nuts on top just yank it in place best case is if those are nylock nuts.
These are the only ones we had on hand, and these will back out eventually, if you put them on tight enough, that they don’t back out, then they crush the gummy right. So nylock would be better, but this is what we’re going with for now, because that’s what yep? Alright? Are you yeah, so the air unit I would build I’ve only built like one quad with the air unit, might still use my own receiver. Just because I, my my air unit transmitter is broken.
Why is it broken Paul? My front port Powerade on it is framed port counterweight on it. Now there are some flight controllers where you can just literally plug the air unit into the flight controller. That’S so nice and long. The hobby wing is not one of those we’re going to be soldering. This up, but we will literally only have one two, three four or five six solder joints and then we’re just done with the bill.
Pretty much. We got red power to to support us to two 4s voltage it can. The air unit can handle natively if you’re going above 4s. They have you in flight controller, actually has a three amp regulator that you use we’re going to use it anyway, well full grant twelve volt, that’s more than enough we’re going to use this anyway. If somebody one day plugs in a 6s battery by accident, it won’t fry. The thing black is ground, future-proofing, white and gray – are to let you get battery voltage in your goggles and then yellow is the control connection and that’s another ground wire, and if that all didn’t make sense, we got a graphic showing you exactly where to put these Wires on this flight controller, we’re going to go ahead inside arm up what’s a military unit first, for that, so that we’re going to go ahead and mount that air unit, then real solder them.
So if we look at the back, there’s a little hole here conveniently placed so that when you put the no USB can still get access to it and a SD card comes out the top and be brilliant you’re a savant, and we don’t deserve you. So I was just wondering like oh: how do we mount this inside of the frame, and so I don’t look at the one that we have pre-built over here and it turns out there’s a little TPU mount well.
3D print. So you just go. Okay! Stand it up in there yeah so now that curl update we’re going to put our big frame standoffs on okay, so TPU mount thingy, but still uh. Don’T rest don’t write, I’m so excited, though, so we got out. Here’S the piece it’s going to go with the flat side down over the standoffs and half of you guys are going of course Bardwell. What do you think we are idiots and happy you’re going? No do it slower.
I got you guys, so I wonder well, one thing is so at the beginning of this article we all started out like pretty. We balance on this table and progressively Bardwell has pushed me further and further out to the side of the room. It just goes in and it sits right there: okay, okay, so that’s going to go in yep and then this is going to come around yeah. I put it inside of the Santa yeah perfect inside and stand up and then that’s all its going to get soldered up exactly like that diagram.
Oh diagram. Okay! So that’s where you put the camera on, because the camera is the lowest part of the front of this machine, and so we have this mount of created by our own Julian. That wrote a riot and by our I mean there and it bends back and sits down a little bit further so that it’s flush to the ground, which is actually pretty awesome so like. If I push this all the way down. Okay, you know, I might have this upside down.
No, I don’t, okay, how can you tell if you got it upside down? It’S because now it’s it’s all the way on the ground. So it’s just like you just got stream. I see. Oh, I see it. I see the top part kind of angles up yeah and then let’s see the key, so I can figure this out. The camera is just going to go into these screw holes. Wait Josh what happens if you put it on upside down, you just flip it over.
Alright, in soccer, you can do it, but you can do it in the goggles before the cameras. You know you could do that Varga yeah. I did that. I screwed that up I’m going to take these small. I don’t you sure that personal special, what happens if you put the camera in upside down funny, you should ask that Paul, because the camera actually has an up facing arrow on the back, so you can make sure to install it right side up.
But if you do install the camera upside down, you can flip it in the image in the DJI goggles. So the camera is installed right side up right here we got these one and two screws right here. This bottom screw sets the angle. What angle do you typically fly out for commercial shooting in cinah whoops to no more than 10 degrees like very low? It’S almost all very, very slow and go so it’s probably more angle than you would want yeah, but the mic 20.
You can’t you can always spot. I find that’s always easier to fly slower mm-hmm with a higher tilt than it is to fly faster with a larger camera installed on the front next. What’S next, the only thing that’s left just to install the duck two ducks, but it’s really hard to put props on after you’ve put the Ducks on well. So I like to put the props hunt first and then put the duck side as weird as that sounds.
Okay, so I went over and got some props for this build and we’re going to run the props out. So that way, can I show you a protip he’s going to use a motor wrench, because you can’t grip the motors tight enough to cinch down the nuts. This is a battery strap. In fact, it is the Shen drones battery strap that comes with the squirt first, a last one protip he is rubberized. It’S got like a grippy rubber finish if you wrap it around the motor and I cinch the battery strap down to cause the motor to not rotate.
Well, I tighten it perhaps rod now we installed the Ducks the ducks quack quack, so the I start with the middle one, usually okay, this is going to go here. Mm-Hmm he’s ignoring me. What did I not start with the middle one? You put the middle one. It’S just push the oh, I didn’t know there was icy. Oh there’s one under here. I didn’t get that so here from the underside we’re going to get the middle one.
I just did you understand you yep, then we’re going to kind of push down on all the others, it’s very flexible, so it’s raised and you can it wide out it. Is it’s not really rocket, it’s so satisfying when it drops on the plates in okay? Well, here we go: oh yeah, that’s good, so smooth right now on this one you’re going to want to get the capacitor out of the way right. So I just wanted to open to the side a little bit going to need a lot.
Okay, it was antennas out of the way best to have a friend to help you earn acquaintance, so the capacitor is kind of tucked to the side of the duct here, just tucked out of the way. Now these little. Finally, these little things go on yep. They go on the back, there’s no front your friend, okay, on the front of back on the back. One is done by the antenna quarter upper and it’s going to go on the front check they’re, going to they’re going to slide down on the front.
On top of the camera there you go yep I’ll, be back one before we see our unit and then screw goes through the bottom of the GoPro mounts on both sides, so that it’s these are the same screws they’re just going to go right down into the Standoffs, yep, okay, alright, so we’ve put our GoPro mount in I’ve at the I push it all the way forward. I don’t know why I did that okay, but I like it there yeah nice.
We also got ta put this battery pad on a little bit of uma group. I’M a grip, I’m a reversal! Super-Sticky battery pad, don’t need quite as much as we have here so I’ll, just cut it nice about there. You got that you nailed it. Look at this: oh yeah, you got the little that’s the card holder right there but like well. What if I want to plug in my air unit, update the firmware you flip it over oh yeah, yeah, it’s so good! So we are done.
Building the city move. The Shen drone squirt everything is assembled we just have to plug it into the computer, do a little bit of configuration on the the flight controller in the esc and we are ready to go flying. So let’s go do that now. This needs to be all tuned up in the mid flights. There are a lot of things that are not working right now, for example, the motors don’t spin and we even plug this in yet maybe the spell check, let’s say, come on come on over here: let’s see what happened, we got a smoke check.
It we’ve got director Drew coming in to check our work. I think that what we first need to do is show them the things that are going to be the same for every air unit, there’s a which is a very few settings that everybody using DGI is going to need to change +7. Okay, we plugged in yes, so we’re going to connect here in the port’s tab. We’Re going to need to set up. Are we going to refresh this first three, five, six, you arts, but first we’re going to reflash it cuz three: five: six, like the bee gees we’re going to firmware flasher mm-hmm.
What uh? What’S the target for this flight controller? Do you now Romney bus? That’S for SD in case you don’t know the answer to that. You can go to the CLI and type. The word version and it’ll show you the target. Let’S show them how to do it. Okay, I’m cycling the power on the flight controller. So we go out of DFU mode, okay, plugging it back in now we can connect on tt USB modem cuz when a Mac it work.
So we can go to the CLI and we can type the word version, o version I just hit, dump and scroll all the way back up. That will also work, or we can just look up here where it says target us for the configurator. I’M going to be set for SD, that’s information, you need so then we’re going to put it in boot. We can do that by typing BL at the command line or you can hold down the bootloader. But you can’t, I feel, like a badass, we’re now ready to flesh renu-it, affirmed or flashier.
I’M going to pass f4 SD is what we want to see and we were in a flash beta, four-one-oh mode firmware. We loaded the firmware we’re going to flash the firmware. Alright, we’re going to connect beta plate 4.1 is going to ask you to apply custom default to just say: ok, yes, sure we’re good we’re good with that. There’S a reason for that, but we’re not going to dive into that now that we’re done flashing you’re going to connect pretty go to the port set where there are two ports we need to configure.
One is your one receiver, it’s for the receiver! That’S s! Bus! Three is for the air unit: okay, that’s, and that is not. You may notice how the default is set up. That’S okay, screw defaults. We’Re going to go UART three we’re going to enable the MSP column UART, one we’re going to enable serial or X. That is literally all you have to do. It’S just that easy, nice boot check. Moving on on that tab, that’s all you have to do we’re going to connect again we’re going to go configuration tab and we are going to set up a serial receiver, yep and SBUs this sabbaths and save and reboot.
So since this is a DJI product, the very first thing you were going to want to do is register it, which DJI people are completely active and updated. If yeah cuz, the some new updates, just came out, they’re always coming out so USBC cable. It is pretty easy easier than like with beta flight. All you got, ta do is run this DJI assistant software, and then we need a power on the air unit and plug it in and we’re going to update the air unit.
The controller, if you’re, using the controller and the goggles this is the first time you’ve done it. You’Ll have to make an account and all that nonsense definitely read all those terms. Read every word of it. I’Ve read it’s activated, it’ll. Ask you if you want to update the firmware downloading. The next thing we should do is we should bind our DJ controller and our goggles, so you actually have to bind the goggles first and then the controller yeah.
If you buy into the controller first and then the goggles, the controller will lose its bind. So maybe we screw up some goggles yeah. Okay, that’s right! Thank you, Paul it in okay! Thank you! So to bind our fpv air unit and our goggles I’m going to. First plug in the air unit, as well as the goggles which are already plugged in and then right next to the micro, SD port, there’s a little hole reach in give it a poke led, will turn red red and then on the air unit.
Goggles, there’s a button next to the power, give it a poke all right or it’s going to blow up hey. I can see Dan over there and the LED screen and the only these green goggles around. How do we burn the radio Josh funny? You should ask that it’s as simple as pressing three specific buttons at a time three yeah, because on the goggles up in the air unit, there’s just one little bind button, but on the controller you have to hold down this button right here.
The record button and this little scroll ball it pushes in you push those all at the same time, but first you got to turn it on to turn it on whoop press it once and then hold it down. We’Re going to hold down boom record button and the LED here goes blue, go ahead and hit our bind button again on the air unit. The next thing we’re going to do is we’re going to go into beta flight and we’re going to check the receiver tab.
Make sure that we’ve got our AET are setting, and it looks like we need to see – is that, first of all that the receiver blogs move yeah and we’re just double check, but this should be correct. Throttle is throttle. Give me the full Yala yeah left right. Good pitch for pitch beauty, roll I’d say, that’s all correct, so we don’t need to talk about blog mapping, so we’ll go back to config tab. What else do we need to do? Let’S put our motors on D, shot 600 business you’re doing rpm filtering motor.
Stop! No yes or no bi-directional D shot no motor pools we’re going to ignore reset for the idle, though I do 4.0 throttle value on Cindy whoop. I want it to drop a little bit faster so that, if I’m like, because I a lot of times it was like shooting gap, so I want to be able to just come after all and keep going into something. So, okay, so we got D shot 600. We want probably 8 k 8k for the gyro in the pit loop thing for sure, yeah, Barrow and Meg know off.
We don’t need a crafting because we’re not running or mode on. That’S the default. Do you fly with air mode on? Yes, ok. I also do. Oh Steve, whatever antigravity on dynamic filter on all good a minimum arm angle is 180 that disables the minimum our arm angle, which allows you to arm the quad at any angle. What that that shouldn’t normally happen. Ok, we got ta set up our arming mode down into modes.
We are going to need two air unit turned on for that, so I’m going to unplug this back in okay. Will it add range hang on in a minute I’m going to flip this switch as soon as we’re green? Okay, I’m going to flip the switch I’m using for arming I like to use the upper left switch flip that switch. You should now see the little yellow indicator. Moving put the switch into the armed position. Do you push away to armor, pull towards Paul push away it off, I’m going to push the switch away, so it’s in the armed position and then I’m going to look at where that little yellow carrot is and I’m going to put the drag it over.
So it covers it, I don’t you can hit save turtle mode short term mode, flip squad over if you land upside down after adding the range we’re going to flip the switch. I like this one on the front personally, I’m going to flip that and put it in the turtle mode position all the way down. Okay, again, move the slider, so it covers that little carrot and hit save and the angle mode. I like to use the three Pizitz same three position as turtle mode, so middle position will be angled up will be.
Neither and down will be turtle mode, we’ll put in the middle position and then do this hide unused modes. You can check your pretty so we got ta seal and switch before angle mode off and then arming mode which is turning red, but once we unplug we should be good yep go. We got our mode set up. We got ta check our motor directions. Yes, the first thing that we’re going to do is we’re going to check to see if we have our motors lined up with our flight control.
Now I can tell you right now that we don’t because we turned the ESC sideways and why each motor to the ESC directly without wiring a leg all the way around to like motor one to four whatever. So what I’m going to do is I’m going to go and I’m going to go on motor one and I’m going to start to spin it up. And what do you know motor two on the quad starts to spend okay. What are we doing to make a column and it’s the slider number, so we’ve got sliders one, two: three and four: okay, it’s the motor position and if that’s, if you look in the diagram, the positions are one two three and four okay and then the pinna Number, so what we’re going to do? The sliders are one two, three and four and we’re going to raise the sliders one insider.
One moves motor two slider one moves motor two slider two moves motor for slider: three: it was motor one and slide for loose motor. Three: okay: now we got to go to the CLI and we’re going to just tell you guys what to put in the CLI if you’re following along, rather than making like try to explain to you exactly how to do it, because I think that might be confusing Resource motor to be zero, zero, we’re just going to take this stuff from the position, column and map the pins motor to be zero, zero resource motor for be zero one resource motor one 8:03 resource motor 302 and save those lines.
Those lines we can give them in the in the article description or whatever I can copy/paste Amanda, but essentially what we’ve done is we’ve said to each so we’ve taken the pin numbers for which each motor is on and then we’ve said, we’ve figured out which slider Moves which and we’re just reassigning the pins to the proper motor so that now, when josh goes into the motors tab, when he pushes slider one motor one, which is this one right here, will move instead of motor three, which is what it was doing before.
Yes, motor 1: how about the direction I want to make a note of the direction for us is the wrong direction. Motor 2 is the correct position on the right way: correct direction, motor 3, correct position and direction and motor for one the wrong way. Okay, so Motors 1 & 4 need to be reversed. We just connect from beta flight scooch on over to bol a 32 you eat go choose apart, connect check for es, C’s get rid of all, but one reverse.
It right. Put your thing down you just flip: it reverse it and then get rid of that get a more for Unruh, verse it right. Okay, so motor for was going the wrong direction because we reversed it previously. So we’re not well unruhe verse it yep disconnected on them. Go back to the monist have one last time double check. Our work always double check, because you think you got it right, but you might not have got it right, correct, correct, hey! What do you know are ready, muses Maiden.
Are we ready Maiden? Can we put it back together? Could we fly it? Give me main it: can we fly it going to fly it? Are we ready throttle down arm now, don’t raise the throttle just bump the pitch and roll stick a little, and if that happens, and something ain’t right. That’S why I don’t just raise the throttle. We did not staged that you could tell from my sincere reaction that that was what’s wrong, probably get the props on board alignment.
We didn’t fix the board alignment, we’ve remapped, the motors because we twisted the ESC 90 degrees. We also need to remap the flight controller. So if you check it out well, if you look at this 3d model here, you’ll see that when I pitch the quad forward, it actually is moving on the roll axis in this 3d model. It’S not alright. Okay, so we’re going to go to the configuration tab. We’Re going to put in negative 90 or 270 your pic degrees, save in reboot, we’re going to connect and we’ll just double check here.
We will pitch forward. It picked them in 3d model pitches for it. Okay, now now we’re ready, let’s close with the made it, which we definitely didn’t already do one time while Paul is closing this up. Let me remind you that we have a full config dump all this work. If you’ve readed us through configuring, it that’s cool, because you won’t learn how to do it. But if you just want to get your quad setup the same as ours, there’s a config dumb.

So it’s been a great relationship and it continues to be a great relationship. So today, what we’re going to talk about is we’re going to talk about LinkedIn advertising. Now this is actually a feature that many people just really don’t fully understand. I’Ll also tell you upfront that it is a feature that’s currently undergoing a lot of changes, so LinkedIn is constantly changing how the platform works, and ironically, I know – I probably shouldn’t say this on a recording, but today is Lincoln’s 13th birthday, so today is actually Cinco De Mayo, the fifth of may 2016 and Lincoln, was launched on May fifth 2003 13 years ago today, who would have thought so? Linkedin is now officially a teenager, which means it it.
You know yells at you and it talks back and it doesn’t listen to a thing. You say that’s how p making sorry and ironically, I got only did within 60 days of the launch way back july of 2003, so i’ve been using this platform for almost 13 years crazy, so Lincoln’s advertising platform is really underutilized by a lot of people. Now I’m going to tell you up front, but if you choose to do some of the things that I’m about to show you that this is not a free feature of LinkedIn like many of the future, something that we’re talking about advertiser and advertising costs money and The response that a lot of people have is well, you know, you know, linkedin advertising Kevin, it’s kind of expensive and on one hand I agree with that.
It is more in a you, know, pay per click or paid for impression kind of cost versus some other platforms, but when I show you some of the things I’m about to show you, you may change your mind on that. You may say you know what for the for the targeted ability to reach with laser-like precision the type of individual or organization that I’m looking to reach. Actually, I believe that Lincoln’s advertising is not over priced at all.
I think it’s very fair for the ROI, but as in all forms of advertising, you’re going to have to play around with it and kick the tires and see if it makes sense for you. So right now you’re looking at my LinkedIn profile and if you and I are not already connected on LinkedIn, please feel free to send me a linkedin invitation and mention that you heard me – or you saw me on this lush likey webinar series.
So, on the right hand, side of my page here you see at LinkedIn advertisements – and the same you need to understand – is that these advertisements, this professional, am be a trainer organizational leadership. Then these advertisements are not accidentally on. My page Lincoln is a database. 420 million users worldwide 225 to use per second, and when you think about it, it’s the world’s largest rolodex meaning.
It has basically the resumes of 420 million people, including where work history, skill set with what they like to do on the weekends. Whatever somebody’s willing to put on their LinkedIn profile is effectively in Billington database. Well, if you understand that from an advertising perspective, that’s a gold line, because if you’re looking for people that went to Rutgers that are now seeing photos within 20 miles of Tulsa that have the word fly fishing in their LinkedIn profile.
And I just pulled that. Out of the air, you can literally target that specific segment, so these ads that you’re, seeing on my page here, it’s no accident that these are here. Whoever created these ads wanted to find people with receding, hairlines and big noses within 50 miles of Denver. I’M just playing around no on that I mean, if you ever receding hairline in a big notes, but um. If you were to open up your LinkedIn account, you probably wouldn’t see if these ads on the side of the page, because you’re not me you’re in a different part of the world, you’re, probably in a different industry.
You know who knows so, there’s ads on the right-hand side of the page, but if we go to my homepage, Linton also does something called sponsored content now sponsored content and there again there’s the ads sponsored content is just a fancy word for advertising, so this here Sponsored this is an advertisement that this company demand wave paid linkedin whatever they paid them. To put this into my newsfeed.
Now again, it’s not showing up in everybody’s newsfeed, but it sure I I am apparently fitting the profile of the type of person that link that that demand wave is looking for. So again you might open up your LinkedIn account and never see this hat, because maybe you don’t fit into that category and I probably wouldn’t see the ads that are showing up in your newsfeed. So here I can see. Obviously the LinkedIn newsfeed is your connections and their status updates, but then you’re also going to see sponsored content.
Now you need to know that if you choose to go down this road of advertising and sponsored content, one of the subtle differences, although it’s big difference, is that these are ads. They’Re not intervene that can click on it and go someplace, but there’s not a like or a comment or a share button over here on a sponsored content. There is a like a comment and share, so you can see that demand wave posted this and 422 people have hit the like button and 15 people have commented.
Well. Let me just point out something really obvious, but as obvious as it’s going to sound, I’m going to tell you, I can’t. I can’t believe how many people never pick up on this. If I was demand wave – and I can see exactly who these 422 people are, this is not anonymous. You better darn well believe that if I were demand wave, I would be reaching out to those individuals individually and saying something like hey.
I noticed that you click the like button on our sponsored content, all about paying it forward and we’d love to prove it to you. How can we help preserve you in some way? There must have been a reason why you click the like button. So all I would want to do is start a conversation. So let’s go up here to the top of the page: let’s go to business services and let’s go to advertise now again. Linkedin is constantly changing how this works and I don’t really teach by death by powerpoint.
I do things in real time because i’m a big believer that the worst lay in the world to teach somebody how to ride a bike is to show them a powerpoint presentation on how to ride a bike. But the best way is to put them on the bike, so I’m just showing you that if you want to take the time – and you want to dig into success stories, marketing solutions – there’s article tutorials in here – there’s all kinds of information that will help you with This ok, so let’s just move along very quickly and I’m not going to click on any of that right now, but let’s just go to text and image ads because I just want to knowing this is a very brief webinar.
I just want to go through this very, very quickly, so again, there’s a lot of ways that LinkedIn can hold your hand and walk you through this, I’m just giving you a fast dirty version of it right now. So if I go to create an act, it’s good first, it’s going to ask me to log into my linkedin account right now. I’M logged into my linkedin account, but now I can actually create dad. Now. They’Ve actually changed this and since the last time I logged into it, so I may or may not be able to actually do this, let’s just kind of see what happens.
Oh, it’s asking me to update my credit card because I just got a new credit card. Oh, this is great, so I’m recording a article right now and it’s not allowing beautiful gate for the next step, but that’s okay. What I really want you to see is that I’m going to take you through this verbally okay, and I don’t think it necessarily needs you to see. If you don’t need me to show you how to do the next couple steps, because you could easily do this, so I’m just going to go back to the link to that and what I’m going to verbally walk you through for the next minute or two.
Is that if I want to create the ad linkedin is going to start by just asking me to create a simple ad and again the ad is going to be very very brief. So let go back to modeling din homepage. It’S only going to give me X number of characters. It’S only going to give me X number of characters in the headline okay, so that will take no more than 30 seconds to do that and then linkedin would ask me: do you want to upload a picture? So these organizations have uploaded these pictures, so I could upload a picture.
I could upload some some wording and I can upload a title and then the next thing I would do would be to create a link so that when people click on the add, it’s either going to take them to my LinkedIn profile. If I select that or maybe it’s going to take them to my website, so you have complete control over where people are going to go when they click on the add. Maybe you want to go to you, want them to go to a landing page where they have to input their first name, their last name, their email address, so that you can gather that for marketing purposes.
So it’s really up to you where you want them to go, but once you get past that, but then linkedin is going to start asking you the very specific questions like who do you want to see this ad and it’s going to allow you to look at The entire world, well just for the sake of argument, let’s say: you’re a financial advisor in denver, colorado and you’re looking for more clients in the denver area. Well, you don’t really have any interest in having your ad go to China or Switzerland or Miami.
So you have the ability to target based on star zip code. You can drill down into that. So once you select that it’s then going to ask you, okay, what type of people do you want to see the ad and it’s going to give you some selections in terms of job title industry work experience. So again, it gets very, very granular where you can select Excel. I just want CFOs within 20 miles of Denver, or I just want lion tamers within a hundred miles of lost and whatever it is you’re.
Looking for and you put that in there and then it’s going to ask you to go even deeper so again, knowing that this is a brief webinar in the sh Y key webinar series, i’m not going to get into every nuance of that. But when you go through that process, it’s going to get very, very granular and then, at a certain point it’s going to tell you. Okay, there are whatever 2523 people that fit this parameter in your targeted area, or there are two million people that fit this parameter at your target, whatever that is, and then linkedin is going to say.
Okay, would you like to choose pay per click or paper impression? Now I don’t claim to be an expert on that kind of stuff, but my friends, who typically are experts on that kind of stuff, tell me to go for pay-per-click, but I’m not telling you what to do. I’M just letting you know you have the option, but if you went for pay-per-click, then right now, I’m looking at these ads, but these people are not being charged for me to look at the ads.
They will only be charged if I click on the app. So let’s charge these people a dollar or two I’m going to click on the end, let’s see where it takes, and here here’s my proof of everything I just told you it’s taking me to a landing page where I can download and in order to download. If I click download right now, i’m not going to do it for the sake of time, but it would probably ask you to enter my first name last name email address, so they can gather that mark that marketing material and then I can download their report.
So this is whoever fellow soft or whatever their name is Bell soft, wherever they are. They created this simple landing page for me to download there, whatever, that is that I’m interested in right so and they would probably get charged. I don’t know a dollar to dollars. Five dollars, whatever it is, linkedin is going to tell you before you create the ad. Before you get to the final step, where you input your credit card information, LinkedIn’s going to say you know we’re going to charge you.
Let me just pick a number two dollars. Every time somebody clicks on the ad and you’re going to either agree to that or not agree that or you’re going to negotiate. You do have a little bit of room to negotiate with linkedin too, and then you also set the parameters where you control the budget. So you say: okay, i’m willing to spend two dollars per click, but I’m only willing to spend up to a maximum of let’s say twenty dollars per day.
So basically, you know do the math you’re saying if ten people a day, click on my hat, the ad will shut off, because it knows my budget is twenty dollars and it will shut off until tomorrow morning, at 1201 a.M. And I can set the duration of The end I could say I only want this ad to run for 30 days, so the simple thing I want you to take away from this folks is that you have complete control over the budget over the spend over the duration, and then linkedin will give you The marketing data of the people to click on the app Lincoln will not give you the names of the people, but it will tell you in the last seven days, 18 people have clicked on your ad of the 18, 10 of them or women, eight of them Or men, six of them were in this zip code.
Five of them had this job title so from a marketing perspective, the data that Lincoln supplies you with is very very effective because you can really see it. Oh wow we’re really getting through to this particular demographic. So that’s all I’m really going to say folks, I’m going to wrap this up in the next minute or two LinkedIn’s advertising platform is highly highly effective if you’re using it in a very sophisticated manner.
The way I’m shall I do now when this is new. The first time you’re doing this, I think lington, gives you fifty dollars in free advertising credits. So really you can kind of test drive it for free to begin with and, as time goes by, you can just refine it and get better at creating ads. Looking at the data, most people at this point in time are really not familiar with how sophisticated this platform really is.
More people are becoming familiar with it, because linkedin just had to openly disclose their. You know their annual report and more people they’re driving more revenue from their advertising platform, but you’re still reading this article at a point in time where this is relatively still new and you kind of have first mover advantage if you take advantage of it. So it’s my belief that Lincoln’s advertising platform is extremely effective.

It’S exactly what I’ve been doing for the last 20 years, I’m going to share five important factors with you that I’ve actually utilized as a good starting point. When determining you know what company, what products and services would I market, and so what I want to share with you of these five factors? Actually, these five things are very prominent and very consistent with three very successful entrepreneurs, Donald Trump robert kiyosaki and also warren buffett, and so what they’ve shared in their books is.
You know five things to consider before going to work for another company and marketing their company’s products and services number one. You have to make sure that the company solid and well-funded. The last thing you want to do is go to work for a company just to find out later they were undercapitalized and they cannot afford to pay their own bills. You know kind of a start-up. If you would so, you want to make sure that the company is at least at least five years old, if possible.
The best scenario, according to these three gentlemen, is a ten year old company and preferably publicly traded it possible number two. You want to make sure that the company’s properly position themselves in front of a major economic trend or some sort of vertical movement in the economy. The last thing you want to do again is start marketing the product it’s in a stagnant or actually in an industry.
That’S in decline, number three: you want to have a company, it’s offering a product or service with mass appeal. This is something that everybody needs or something everybody’s already using again, you don’t want a product with a very limited demographic, it’s very difficult to be able to market to a limited demographic, so number four! You want a lucrative compensation plan, so you got to ask yourself: is this company going to pay you which your time and your energy is worth, and so you got to decide for yourself? You know how much time you’re going to put in and will they pay? You the equivalent of what your time is worth and number five, is the opportunity affordable for everyone see, because one of the keys to being successful and operating your own home-based business is to be able to duplicate yourself or replicate what you’re doing and share with other People to be able to do the same thing, so you can expand your distribution network.
These five things have helped me become. You know successfully independent financially for the last 20 years. I’Ve helped thousands of other people also make a good income from home. A lot of people make five six hundred dollars a month. You know many more make thousands of dollars a month. Some I’ve helped go on to replace your job income and all they do now is live on a passive residual income all from starting their home-based business.
