Alright, so, as some of you guys know, I did a giveaway not too long ago for Christmas for my 10,000 subscribers special, where I gave these away and now I’m going to do a little review.
So you can get yours if you want some too, because I know I I gave that away. I don’t I’m recording this before the giveaway actually in so I’m not sure who I’m going to give it away to yet. But I know it’s already gone and they’re going to be receiving this pretty soon, so, let’s get into describing how to use this and what it is, and some of the positives and negatives you get from getting this tool.
So the first thing I’m going to want to tell you is one of the negatives. Now it comes in this nice case. I guess it’s the sheath kind of it’s a double seat, chief, where they’re facing opposite directions. I don’t know if you can see this well. They’Re facing opposite direction in that sheath, and that is one of the biggest negatives of the way. This thing is sold, because this, I think, is designed to snap to an arm to the inside of an arm or the inside of your leg, or something like that.
But because of how it works, these aren’t like stiff they’re, not solid, and so they fall out pretty easily whenever you’re running or moving around or doing any sudden action. So anything besides this we’re going to get it to slowly slide out and eventually fall out of its case, which isn’t the best thing, but I did find a kind of a will work around this does fit well on the center of your back on your belt.
So using these straps, I can wrap this around. My belt and it’ll stay pretty snug there and pretty secure there, and I did actually a test where I walked around all day carrying one of the on my belt on the back part of my belt, and it stayed there pretty much the whole time and from That point you can easily reach behind it yourself, keep behind your back and just kind of pull each of them out and allow yourself access to these, I’m going to call them tactical ninja daggers, because that’s literally what it’s what it’s named on the wish.
I thought I bought it, but you can call them like just daggers they’re many daggers just like this. So take the map. Look like this, so they fit almost perfectly in my palm so that the blade sticks out the bottom of my hand. But there’s no point of the blade that touches my hand while I’m holding it and the top of the knife. I got ta actually put my thumb on the top to kind of secure it in place and make sure it doesn’t slide it it at all.
So it’ll never slide into my hand if I’m ever trying to stab something into anything like that, because my thumb keeps it in place so that if I stab something it stays there and doesn’t slide back into my hand and cut myself. Another good thing about these is that they’re small and easily concealable, it’s easy to put them under your shirt or even when you’re holding them. If you turn your hands, you can make it look like you’re, not carrying anything, it’s hard to do it with my hands up like this, but you can make it look like you’re, not carrying anything and then pull them out just for safety if you’re ever.
If you ever feel like you’re being followed or feel like you’re in a bad area, you can have these in your hands, basically hidden without anybody thinking twice about it and then pull them out ready to fight now, obviously you can hold them. You know upside down where I set up. I think I would probably use them upside down just because of my personal fighting saw the way I choose to fight. I like to drag my punches quicker more like a Karambit rather than stab people like a straight knife.
That’S just my personal fighting style, but you could do whichever one you want to just depends on how you were trained and what you feel most comfortable with. Unlike a lot of wish weapons that you’re going to find there, these actually come pretty sharpened to be stole ones. I ordered comfrey sharpened, pretty sure all of them do and I’ll leave links down the scripture, so you can find them on not only wish but an actual other site that might have it more secured for you a little more reliable, I’m there for you now, the Last thing I want to tell you guys is that the last thing I want tell you guys is the handle, makes up the majority of this weapon.
As you can see, the blade is not very big. It’S only going to be about two, maybe three inches long. I didn’t actually measure it much it’s about the length of my pinky, which is not very long at all, and so just keep that in mind. If you’re looking for a long blade or a good tool to stab deep into an object, maybe you’re hunting or for self-defense whatever it is, if you’re looking for a longer blade, this is definitely not what you’re looking for.
This is a very small, precise, blade kind of like a exacter life. Almost that’s the feeling I get from these blades, but it allows you a great hidden, self-defense tool that fits into a small area like the center of your back or the small of your back. I should say like this and the small of your back or around your way around your hip line or something like that. It allows for that, but because of its poorly made carrying case, you can’t carry everywhere like you can’t carry it in your arms and you can your sleeves and you can’t carry it under your pants, but there are other places you can carry it like.
I said earlier in the article I hope you guys enjoy this episode of weapon logs and if you were interested in these weapons, like I said before, the link will be down in description, for you be looking out for a combat for dummies coming out. Pretty soon relatively soon about using these two in a self defense kind of way, but with all that said, don’t forget to Like subscribe and comment. If you want to see something else – and let me know down in the comments what other weapon you want me to review until next time, my name is DJ Moore.
I’Ve spent close to half a million dollars now on Facebook. So I feel, like I know, a thing or two.
This is this: is an old old account? You can see right here lifetime. Just so, you know a little under 6000. This is back time when I was testing and then I made more of an official business account And that’s where I do most of my spending right. So that’s for me personally in my business, But then I’ve spent another. I don’t know hundred thousand, maybe four other clients, so We’ve really gone through and nailed down a lot of the different strategies and obviously there’s always more to learn: there’s always Things that are changing with Facebook and you need to stay on top of that.
But with this I want to give you guys a quick run-through from A to Z, so Right here guys Just to give you a quick overall view these. These are all of your campaigns alright And we’re going to walk through There’s good, There’s three types of things: There’s a campaign There’s an ad set and then there’s an ad okay. So, like campaign is kind of like at the top, And then you can have multiple ad sets to the campaign, And then you can have multiple ads in each one of the ad sets right.
So just to break that down. It’S actually easiest to go through and start creating campaign to explain each one of the different Meanings of what those all are cuz like you’re, probably okay, Just what the heck are those right. So if we click on create campaign right here, all right, It’s going to See we’ll start over. It says: What’s your marketing objectives, okay, So there’s a lot of different things here And we need to choose the objective that best suits us of what we’re shooting for.
Okay, so we’ve got Brent of awareness right here, consideration or conversion, so Facebook they have so much data that they know. If they’re going to show an ad in front of somebody. They know if somebody’s going to read A article like more likely to read a article or more likely to like or comment a post like for me. I don’t really like and comment on a lot of posts, but I’ll click on a lot of links, And so they’ll probably know okay I’ll, show Jason ads that are more traffic base of people.
So traffic is basically like you Them to click to your website or to a blog post or something like that where it’s article views. That’S like posting a article on Facebook. You you just want people to read it. You don’t want necessarily them to click anywhere Engagement. That’S just like clicking that boost post button on your Facebook page. That’S to get people to like and comment and share on your posts and Facebook knows the people that are more likely to do that came and right here.
There’S lead generation, That’s using Facebook’s lead forms Which we could shoot another article another day, if you guys want a article specifically on that Just comment down below, because I can go through and show you step by 7. The cool thing about this is: It gives you their name phone email address, whatever information you want, But it automatically pulls the information that Facebook has on file so a lot of times.
You can eliminate a lot of the bogus information When it comes to lead generation. Right now Messages this is kind of a newer one, but this is really hot right now of just like, you know, they click hey, I’m interested to call to action is send message, and then it starts a conversation in your facebook, Messenger, okay and I’ve seen some Crazy awesome results with facebook, Messenger and then Conversions right here.
This is using. This is diving a little bit deeper And I’ve got some other articles on this, but using Facebook’s, pixel, Okay, So they’re pixel is basically their way of tracking everyone that comes to your website. Everyone that becomes a lead all that stuff, which we can hit a little bit on that today, But will also I’ve got. I’Ve got actually another article that I’ll link here Be able to show you guys how to actually make that happen.
Okay And how to set that up and use it on your website, so these are all the different ones. So, for this one, Let’s just say We’re going to go with traffic alright, And this obviously is based off of your goals of what you want to go through and do I didn’t really hit brand awareness. Brand Awareness is just getting like a massive reach, getting like more exposure than anything. You know it kind of like that in store visits, catalog sales.
This is a little bit more advanced And it depends on like what type of business you’re in so I’ve actually never used those Just because I’m not in that type business. But if you use you’re, working with like a physical location Like store visits, obviously are going to be huge or catalog sales. That’S probably going to Be really more to e-commerce. Alright, so let’s just say traffic right here And then we could give the campaign a name.
So we’ll just say: demo traffic campaign right So come over here and just really quick back I’ll show you, Let’s just click back right here. You can’t set a limit to the campaign. Saying hey, I don’t want to spend any more than 200 bucks, 500 bucks whatever or 50 or whatever the number is, But I typically don’t do that. I just kind of keep my eye on the campaigns and read them. So what does it continue here? Okay, So the campaign so like we’ve got the three Different pieces of the campaign, which is kind of like the overall, the highest part of the pyramid.
I guess and you’ve got ad sets where you can have multiple ad sets within the campaign. Okay and then the ad right here, So your campaign is the objective: do you want two people to read articles traffic get leads? What do you want to happen, then? Your ad set? This is where it gets into the Targeting of fining, like what’s the audience like. What’S the demographic you want to target? What’S your budget, You can see right here.
They break it down They’ve, actually they change this about a year ago And they made it really simple to kind of see all the steps like your objective. Okay, now the trap. Okay is traffic? Who do you want the audience to be? Where do you want to be placed? You want to be on your mobile phone, a Desktop on Instagram on all these different platforms, and then your budget. So it’s like hey. Do you want to spend five hours a day? You want to spend $ 100 a day like how much do you want to spend okay so over here as we come down, and we can give this a name to so we’ll say demo a Traffic ad set, and then you can.
I typically would like at this point to just give it a name based off the audience Right which we don’t know yet something just kind of create this on the fly. But it’s kind of cool because you see like the potential reach of what you’ve got so far and we’ll break it down. You’Ll see how this number right here is: 200 million. How, as we go through and break this down, It’ll shrink but you’re getting more narrow.
More specific, Okay! So when I’m running a campaign, if it’s, if it’s like a national campaign like all across like the US or Canada or whatever country you live in, I Like to get a few hundred thousand people in that campaign, because Facebook works better with more data. Okay, So, like the bigger the audience, the bigger at work, it works. However, if it gets too big if it’s getting to like three four five million, Sometimes you’ve got to like nail injure your targeting a little bit better.
If it’s like a super broad market, then great Like if you’re selling, I don’t know like Weight, loss, stuff, cuz, that’s a pretty broad market. But if you’re like in more of a specific niche, you probably want to stick around like the one to two million on the higher end right. That’S at least what I’ve seen. But then, if you’re doing like local ads. Obviously, it’s kind of based off of How many people live in your town in your city, right like you, live in Chicago versus, I don’t know like it’s.
Some small town in South Dakota right like you’re, going to Have a lot fewer people, But you don’t want to be reaching out to people in North Dakota because this is not going to be within that right. Demographic, okay, So come down here traffic. I just leave this here. Nice thing is some of the stuff. You don’t really even have to touch It’s. It’S not like it’s super important so offer I don’t do anything there and then custom audiences.
This is a little bit advanced, so we’ll hit that in another article and then four locations – Let’s say let’s say this is let’s just say this is a local, app, okay, We’re running it for a local weather, we’ll say a real estate agent. Just because That’s I work a lot in the real estate space and the mortgage space. So let’s say: okay, We’re going to come down here and we’ll say. Or do we want to be a tape? Orlando, Florida, Okay, So we’ll type in Orlando Florida and lay this? They went from 200 million down to two million people right here now.
What, if I run in a local ad, this locations of this drop down it by default, is going to say everyone in this location, But I typically would want to do people who live in this location? Okay, because it’s like hey, I just want people who live in this location and that’s good for real estate. But if you’re doing like it for a restaurant – And you just want everyone that location, because, if they’re busy and as a matter if they’re visiting You want to be able to target them as well or you can do piece people recently in this location.
So if they were there But they’re, not there anymore or people traveling this location so like if you’re like running ad for more tourists type stuff, You can do that as well. So For this one with real, We’ll just say, people who live in this location And then you can see that without narrowed down to 1.5 million, because well That is kind of a touristy spot right. So now what we could do Is we can go through and say: hey.
I only want it with people in the current city, Okay, so which that’s going to nail down to eight hundred eighty thousand, or do you say hey, I want to do more of a radius Okay, so you can go up to 50 miles or down to ten Miles so just because this is a little bit bigger city Right, we can do a 10-mile radius, okay, so now we’re going down and As far as the age range you got to kind of think of, like your target demographic, Like how old are they like somebody? If we’re doing real estate, It’s looking to find someone, That’s looking to buy or sell a home, Then 18 year olds – probably not going to be in that demographic.
So I’d say that we like to go up to at least Like a 25 26 27. Something like that, and so you can see how you’re narrowing down This as well. You Go through. You could type in languages, It’s like. If you only want to work with people that speak English or you could say, hey. I want to work. I know there’s it’s a big Hispanic market in that area, so you could just say hey. I want Spanish, So you can kind of see as two hundred twenty thousand people or you can just say, hey, You know I work with, doesn’t matter what language they speak.
If they they live in the u.S, They probably speak a little bit of English, so I’ll just leave it at that. So I’ll, typically just cuz I’d speak English. I’Ll just put that in Now guys. This is where it gets pretty cool right here: Okay, the detailed targeting okay, so the detailed targeting you could do some really cool stuff here. So What I like to do you go through and browse? You can browse by demographics, so somebody’s education, Okay, it’s education, level, They’ve got a college degree or they’ve.
Just high school or they’re in college They’re in high school They’ve got a master’s degree, So you can get pretty like bit and obviously this is not always something that you have to go through and choose, But sometimes depending on your ad you’re. Creating this can be really helpful, So it’s just good to know some of these different things that are in here or financial. You can say hey. I only want to hit higher income people, so people they’re making over half a million dollars a year.
Okay Or I can target the lower or like kind of like the middle-income or something like that or saying, hey net worth, okay, Because if you got like a high value, real estate property. For sticking with this, you probably like somebody – that’s only like – has a $ 100,000 net worth. It might not be able to afford a five-minute. Well, They can’t afford a five million dollar property. Okay, so that’s kind of cool right here and then also, I said what hits of these things, because these are like What I like found somebody stuff with some of these things in here I was like wow there’s a lot of stuff.
You could do so. I don’t want just open up your guy’s eyes And your mind is seeing some of the different things that we can do here. Alright, so you can do home ownership, Which is big for obviously real estate mortgage. You say: hey, I’m looking for people to first-time homebuyers home type life events Interests you see like okay, You want people like there’s one where let me find this There’s what old behaviors.
I think it is okay, Where it talks about people’s purchase. Behavior right this right here, So people that are like more likely to make big purchases online if you’re doing like ecommerce type stuff, see these buyer profiles, Coupon users that, like it’s crazy, how much data Facebook has because Facebook now has the data that you give them. But through Facebook’s pixel they can actually track What sites you’re going to.
They know what what links you’re clicking on What ads you’re clicking on so they’ve actually got a lot a lot. A lot of data on you, Okay, cuz. Some people last times were like well. How do they know that I, like I like skiing – I don’t like any of the skiing pages, but You know maybe you’re clicking on those those ads or something like that. So they’ve got. I mean I’m not going to go through all these, but they’ve got tons of things down here or you can just say, hey They’re, interested in real estate.
You could just type that in okay, so right here interests or Behaviors either. One of these, the difference between interested behaviors interest is basically they’ve liked. Something related to real estate on Facebook. Behaviors is kind of like they’ve, more acted upon something like they’ve, that’s more of like they click the link or something like that. It’S anyway guys, you guys could get lost in this forever.
I’M not going to dive in super deep more on this, just because we’ve already, I feel like hit that pretty well So adding the connection type this right here. I don’t always really do this, but you could say hey. I want them to be people who, like I wanted. I want to just target people who have liked my facebook page already, so it’s like that’s kind of your warm audience Or if you want to like expand a little bit.
But you know how have some of the ads that says: hey So-and-so, like you’re, one of your friends, also likes this page. This is where you can go through and do that so you say: hey friends of people who, like your page or if you want to just Expand and get new people say: hey only. Eight people Exclude people who, like my page, because this is not those like my patients only for new people coming in okay, so now coming down What we could do here so automatic placements a lot of times they have this here by default.
I like to do edit placements and Just so you can see like all the different places we can have these ads. You have it on the newsfeed, so this Mobile and desktop used to be separate, And now it’s just one of the same. If we want to make it just on mobile or just on desktop right here on device types, It says all devices recommended, which I usually leave it at that, but you can say only on mobile devices or only on desktop computers.
Okay, so that’s just something really! Quick there and Then, as we’re going down here, I like to just typically leave it on the Facebook news, feeds and uncheck everything else: okay, Just because I’ve seen the best results with that. However, I just wanted to show you some of the different places you can have these dad’s okay, So you could have it on there instant articles, There’s kind of like a newer blogging type platform Industry articles.
This is kind of like what YouTube’s already been doing. Having like the streaming articles before a article, you know right column, you guys have seen that on your desktop top right lot of times, you get cheaper ad Space for that, just because it not as many people click on that. However, It could still convert extremely well and then right here. This is where you do it on Instagram, okay, Facebook owns Instagram, and So, if you wanted to show on Instagram as well, you say hey, I want to show it in the newsfeed or at the very top on the stories.
Okay, so that’s kind of a cool little feature there. Then you’ve got all these different ones. You know, if you want to do messenger and say hey, I want them to click and go to messenger, or you can actually have it an ad. In essence, pop up in that person, Messenger box, Okay, which it’s kind of crazy right – okay, Now just scroll down here guys. I Don’t really touch this right here and then, as far as the budget, you can do a daily budget.
So I want to spend five bucks a day or a lifetime budget. Just saying hey, I Only want to spend $ 35 $ 100 $ 50 or whatever It is. I typically just like to do a daily budget. Okay and you can start out at whatever number, whatever suits your budget right now. If you have an audience of like seven hundred thirty thousand, you can start at like a higher number like you could start Technically, you know, let’s say 50 or 75 dollars a day.
I like to start normally like around twenty twenty-five dollars a day if I have like a massive massive budget, But if you’re reading this article you’re probably more of a beginner. So if you start around like the five to ten dollar range, That’s probably just that’s perfect. Right so we come in here and then this is. This is something That’s that’s cool Like what I like to do sometimes is when I start a new ad campaign, I like to give it the whole entire day so like right now, I think it’s like 6:00 a.
M.. On a Saturday. I I just woke up. I couldn’t sleep, It’s like I’m just going to shoot a article, So I like to get the full day and let it run so that I can kind of like see the whole day’s data. It’S so like. If it’s. If it’s right here so we say I like to start like, maybe on a Monday, okay and then we’ll say, look We’ll start at 8:00 a.M. Okay and then, since we’re a daily budget, Well, you can’t have a Start end date and then still a daily budget, or you could say, hey, run my ad set continuously, But I like to kind of like have a start date right, and so all that switched Up on me, so we come over here: 8:00 a.
M.. Cuz, then. So, if that’s Monday, at 8:00 a.M. On Tuesday, when I like kind of gets you my ads and stuff around like 8 or 9 a.M.., I Can see a full day’s worth now. Really quick, quick tip, if you guys are only spending $ 10 a day. I would give it probably three to four to five days before you go through and evaluate Whether your campaign is work Not because sometimes it takes a little bit of time for Facebook to go, optimize it and find the right people and the more data They have.
The better They’ll be able to optimize it for you, okay, so despite popular belief, Facebook actually wants you to succeed, because if you succeed, you spend more money with them and it’s great for everyone right. But at the same time you got to have a good ad that that really is fitting with your target demographic Which we’ll talk about ads here in a second okay. So That’s kind of like what I like to do so if it started on Monday from 8:00.
At 8:00 a.M, I could check it, Maybe that next Tuesday Just kind of get a quick glimpse of what it’s looking like. But if I’m only spend $ 10 a day But you’ll wait to like Wednesday or Thursday and really determine if it’s a winning ad or if it’s it’s, not right, okay, So coming down here, link clicks, I typically don’t really mess with any of this, and that Doesn’T matter it like, doesn’t matter what campaign I’m Ronnie, I just like leave it just because lots of Facebook’s basic stuff is kind of like already set to where you want to have it.
Okay! So then, we’ll come over here to the the ads section right and You need a business page, Whether it’s your personal and your business, one or whatever You need a business page in order to run ads, you can’t run it from your personal profile. Okay, now It’s nice because it’s super easy to go through and create your your own Facebook page free, easy takes like two seconds all right, Then, if you’re also advertised on Instagram, you can connect your Instagram account right here right now, the cool thing is is, if You haven’t existed like let’s say you made a post on your Facebook page and, and you want to use that you can just click on use existing post and That you can go through and select one of your previous post right here.
Okay, Now, if you go through and you’re creating a new ad inside a Facebook Ads manager, this is what’s called some people call it a blind ad and the reason why it’s called a blind ad Is because this is actually not going to show up on your Facebook page in the newsfeed Right so there’s the two types you can go: make the post on your Facebook page And then use it as an existing post and use that in your ad campaign or if you Inside here it actually does not show up And there’s Pros and cons to both some people don’t want it to be like if you’re, excluding people from your Facebook page, It’s only a special offer special something for people that don’t like you your page.
Yet then you could do that. Sometimes it’s nice to have it on your Facebook page, Because then you get some free, organic exposure, some likes and comments that you don’t have to pay for, and It looks like those posts, sometimes look a little bit more natural. It’S not like a straight up at Because they’re going to look a little bit different, like an ad inside of ads manager, you’re going to have like the headline The sub headline is going to like Be like I mean you’re just going to be, like you ask See that you see everyday, whereas in a post on Facebook, It’s not necessarily going to look as much like an ad and she kind of like almost, I guess, not trick people But like make them think it’s not an ad.
It is still will say sponsored at the top, But those are some quick little differences there Now we’ll hit these really quick. Just because this is a tutorial for beginners. I want to give a full Rundown of everything. It’S like the carousel. This is we’ll just kind of show: They’ve got like the little demos right here. This is where you can go through and you can have multiple little different images or pictures so like this is kind of nice if you’re in e-commerce and You’ve got like different products that they might be interested in right of like hey, We got this or this Or this, then, that you could just come down here and change these different ones Just through here you can add it, It could be an image or a article.
One thing I’d like to do in the past, with when I’m trying to get more clients is I’ll. Do a carousel ad right like this, But also have different testimonials, so all like going out four or five testimonials like Hey this person, this happened or this person. This happened this person. This happened like real estate. You could potentially feature multiple listings that you have right. Where I like to typically just do one listing, if I’m a real estate agent, Borrowing my business but that’s an option there, you do a single image ad, which I’m sure most of you guys have all seen.
Just it’s just one main core image: the single article Same type of thing, but it’s just a article. Instead of an image Slideshow, I actually have never really used slideshow, but it’s like kind of just that You can see like it says, create a looping article ad with up to ten images. Okay and then Collection right here. I’Ve never used this as well. So I’m not going to like go speak to it. I’M not an expert on it feature collection of items that open into a full-screen mobile experience; Okay, so that could be cool.
Okay, Let’s start now, I would highly recommend starting out with a single image or a single article. Here’S the I guess. Basic simplest wants to do so. Let’S say single image, So you can go in here, upload an image You can see there free stock images or browse the library all to see. I don’t even know what images I’ve got Well, she’s like the core, the made the popular profile picture. I always use on everything.
Oh so, if it looks like this guys, There’s a tool, that’s called canvas, yay and va.Com. It will see if this really quick cuz. This is important Like this ad right here. This same thing was happening like this: lady’s head was getting like cut off Cave just kind of like how my heads getting cut off. So what I did on canva is, you can go through and they’ve got all of these Dimensions that are already pre-built for you.
Okay, so, like facebook, add a YouTube thumbnail, This is what I use. Do you make all my YouTube thumbnails. This is the old Facebook, a total dimensions. Facebook cover Facebook, post, Instagram post the college different things So I’ll just hit this and then what I’ll do is I’ll upload. You can just upload the image It makes it really easy to upload. Okay – and let’s say this – is the image right here: Okay, so now, if I go through – and I throw it in right here – and We can make a little background – Let’s see what the background should be.
Maybe this cool house – That’s probably not going to fit that great. I, Like this house, is my background. Actually, Okay, and obviously this is probably Anyway, You guys can see it’s pretty easy. You just like drag and drop everything, and then you can kind of like move. You around all that stuff and then You could even type text. Okay, so test ad Will change that to be white, so they can see it a little bit better to change the font.
Okay, we just maybe throw this up in the corner, and Do it also really quick guys if you have more than 20 % Text in your facebook, add image You’re going to get disapproved Okay, so I actually typically like to have as little text if no text As possible, So this is actually typically what I do on at YouTube thumbnail This doesn’t matter but on something like this I like to like, maybe have like. Maybe it’s like hey and obviously this is not like what I do for real estate.
I’Ve got other strategies and stuff like that. But let’s say if you want to throw an image of you or somebody in there have a little background image And then you let your your headline and sub-headline do the talking? Okay, Which will show you guys here in a second now We can download this and Upload it into Facebook, Ads manager. Well, it’s just for this one, I’m just going to browse the library.
I want to show you guys that really quick, Add images we’ll just use something right here that we’ve already got in place. I Will just use this: It’s a it’s a home right, okay! So then we’ll throw in the URL like let’s say, for this example, We’re just doing it to Google. Obviously, you’re not you’re, going to put in the URL of your Your landing page and and I’ll hit another article on that. But you don’t want to send it to your main website or your blog.
It you’re going to waste a lot of money, You’re not going to generate any leads, but obviously it depends on what your goal is right. That campaign objective up here. So if you just want people to read your blog post, then yeah, you could just send them to your blog right. But if you want to generate leads, you want to send to a landing page which all I’ll have another article on that. But that’s kind of where we want to go there, so the text right here The Facebook’s made this pretty easy guys You just kind of go through okay.
What’S the website, you want to send people to what’s the text, you can say test text Copy right here. This is just like your main Facebook post, like what you want to say in there. You can make this as long as you want, can make it like a long long story. You can make it very quick, and what I like to do here, Just is, is a tutorial kind of for beginners, like letting you know how I like to write my my eat.
My copy Excuse me guys, so I like to go through first thing. I like to do is call out my audience. Second thing I like to do is do something to pique their interest and To give them kind of a call to action and then add some value and then another call to action so like, for example, Let’s say Orlando Homeowners, Okay, so that’s calling out my audience. Okay, so I’m targeting people in Orlando And if you’re a homeowner and I can go through back in my interest and say hey – I only want people that are homeowners, so you have specific.
But then, if you’re live in Orlando and your homeowner – and you see Orlando homeowners, That’s going to peak your attention right, that’s going to be like oh hey! This is for me, You could say. Are you looking to sell your home in the Next three to six months? Okay! So now that’s like weeding out through Orlando homeowners, kay, If you’re not looking to sell your home You’re going to keep scrolling You’re done.
I’M not talking to you Say. Are you looking to sell your home in the next three to six months and then, and obviously this I’m just creating this on the fly You could say like Alright look like let’s say, I’ve got somebody looking to buy a home Okay, I have a family of Three looking to purchase a home in the I don’t know where Lana that well so we’ll just say blank Area so like if you were wanting to get like specific to like a community, you know Who is hoping to purchase their Dream home within the next Few Months, okay and then we can say like full details, click here And then we can have a link, so we’re going to have the link.
So if they click on this image right here, That’s going to take them to the the site, but also Is sometimes nice. Add the link inside this copy too, because there’s a reading it lot of times people read Ads or anything online with their mouse. I don’t but a lot of times people do, and so, if you’re they’re going through and they’re like, Oh well, Do you look here? It’S just easy to click right, and So you can add like sometimes it can be as simple and click quick as that or you can add a little bit more.
Sometimes I typically just leave it at that. So light-cone have the audience and then of those people hey. Are you looking to sell your home next 36 months, we’re weaning it down and then we’re adding like it’s like a little value. Add like hey guys, get like if you’re going to sell. I’Ve Already got a family of three looking to purchase a home in this specific area. Now, obviously you don’t want to like make that up.
You want to be like legit, But you want to be. Some value. Add there to get them to be like to pique their interest of like okay, What separates you from all the other real sage and stuff like? Why would I want to sell my home with you? You know I mean so then For the headline. This is where that google spot is going to be. We can say, are you Yeah we’ll just say? Are you looking to sell your home okay and that’s going to pop up right there and Then we could say: hey call to action.
Learn more. We’Ve got several ones right here, We’d say no button. I don’t want it to look like an out-of-time, so we’re just going to say hey just like. Are you looking to sell your home or read more so this is kind of depends on like what your goal is right a Lot of times. I will typically do just learn more Just because, like it kind of like it’s, not Something of like hey, download now or donate now, or Buy Now or sign up or something like that, That’s a little bit you put a guard up or as learn more, It’s Like most people are fine Learning a little bit more about something right: Okay, so we’ll just actually I didn’t click that learn more, so leave it at that.
Okay And then I I took – we don’t hit this and then this display light link. You can change that if you want, I typically just leave it in then a newsfeed link in description, so we can say test Copy right here. That’S going to Pop up down here as your sub headline. This is the mobile view. You can see mobile newsfeed and this is only going to show up on your desktop newsfeed. So if we go through and we Scroll and hit this, this is going to show all the difference ad placements that we chose in the ad set level.
Okay, So we chose news feeds, It’s going to show this one right here, and this is another view of it. Okay, And this is what its going to look like on your desktop newsfeed, so I can see test copy. Let’S say we can say Orlando home owners. Looking to sell in the next three to six months, I usually do this like a little shortened version of what I’m talking about here. Okay, so It says Earl an emotionally going to sell in the next three six months.
We have a family Looking to buy something like that, and this is like learn more okay, So just like a quick, So I’ll give them they’re scrolling through and they kind of Skim past. All this then they see this. Are you looking to sell your home Line of home or just looking to sell the next few six months We have a family looking to buy and they’re like? Oh, What’s this all about, learn more, They go to your website, okay and then down here.
All this URL parameters – That’s super advanced stuff. You don’t need to mess with that. Honestly, I don’t really miss that even still – and I’ve spent a couple thousand dollars a day on Facebook, So facebook pics will leave that leave this I’ll leave. All that use hit confirm Good to go Okay, so some other little last tidbits of things if we come over here to ads manager. This is so like this is going to Be.
Will save leave this page okay, so This is taking you back to this area. You can filter through stuff by lifetime. You want to see everything for the whole lifetime Or you can see how your campaigns just performing today or last 7 days lost times. Last 7 days You got ta, keep in mind, It doesn’t show the day of ok. So that’s just going to show the last seven full days or last 14, full days Last times I like to look at it at the last seven days, Okay and see what it’s like this.
So you can see I’m not running any ads And then you kind of mix it up and say like okay, I want to see it by Performance or delivery, so delivery would be like how many people are being reached thrive or engagement. How many like Reactions comments, shares links like all the different information there, so you can kind of like Go through and scroll through what, by what you want to see it, and then you can see here, you can see your campaigns ad sets and ads Okay.
So if you want to go through and say hey I want to get. I want to nail down on a specific like let’s say this foreclosure leads. This is only going to show the ad sets that are within that campaign and then, if we click on this, it’s going to Just dive deeper. So, like you got campaign you clicked on so it says one selected, Adsense, There’s only one ad set in this campaign. We click on this, so it just dives deeper now We’re at the ad level.
So there’s just this one ad and if you’re like crap, I want to like see what it looks like. I can’t remember what it looks like we just hit this. It will hit preview and it’s going to pop up what this looks like a So we kind of see what this looks like. If you want to see what it looks like actually in the newsfeed You’re going to hit Hey click on this say Facebook post with comments, and This will pop up what this actually looks like.
So if you wanted to like, like it yourself right there, you could just throw in a like right there and This kind of it switches between what profiles or pages you have on your account. I’Ve got a lot. You probably don’t have as many as me. Okay, so those are some different things and then also up here, this hamburger menu, You get all tools. This goes and tot kind of takes. You in different Aspects like you can create different custom audience so, like I’ve got a article on this.
Actually, where you can upload your All of your contacts into Facebook, you know Maps their name phone and email with the name phone email, But they have a file with Facebook, which is kind of cool Facebook, pixels, Which I’ve got a article on that’ll out of here. As well On tracking, so that’s kind of cool. So if you guys all add these articles like, if you guys, click in that top section, Where there’s like the little circle with the eye I’ll have some of those different articles here.
So you guys can kind of explore some more of these different things, And then this is where you can go set up like the billing and all at them, Like the admin type stuff, and so anyway, I’m not going to hit all these things. This is just quick. Obviously it’s a little bit longer tutorial, But anyway, if you guys want to learn something specific, there’s something that I didn’t cover in today’s article.
I hope I covered a fair amount, But if there’s something that I didn’t cover today, make sure you guys leave a comment down below Also if this was helpful, Go ahead and hit hit like and let me know I I want to bring you guys and help You guys up as much as possible And if you guys are not subscribed to blog, make sure you subscribe. So anyway, guys Thanks so much for reading today and hope you guys all have an amazing day.
You know I’m always thrilled to have you okay. So today we are going to get started on a four part, little mini series every other week for the next eight weeks. We are going to be working on growing our Instagram following now. The important thing to remember is that numbers are not the important thing to remember: okay, its engagement, its dedication, it’s um, it’s like real people out there.
You know what I mean. You don’t need a hundred thousand people to make your artwork feel legitimate, like think about, if you were in a room with your painting and there were five hundred people in that room. Looking at your painting, you would be like, oh my god, this a lot of people look at my paintings. So even if all you have is five hundred followers, that’s still a lot of people to look at your artwork.
Okay, so this is, does not have to do with being the biggest tickets biggest, I’m, certainly not the biggest Instagram artist out there by a longshot. I don’t really care to be, but what I do care to do is continue to be able to use in this platform to share my artwork and to have people see my art on a regular basis, because that’s the nice thing about Instagram is that it keeps Your artwork to the forefront of people’s minds, so that being said, this is going to be more about connecting with people that genuinely care about your art than just pumping up the numbers so stick around for the next few weeks, because I want to help you out With that today is going to be very basic, because you know I don’t know what you guys are in your Instagram game, so we’re going to start with the basics.
Today, I’m going to teach you how to use hashtags specifically for artists, you might think it’s just as easy as saying like hash tag. Oil painting, hash tag artwork, it’s not you guys. There are like 14 billion people on Instagram, so just general hashtags are not good enough anymore. I’M going to show you guys how to pick the very best ones so that people who actually care about connecting with your specific kind of art will find you so anyways.
I hope you learned so much make sure you pop that subscribe button, because I would hate for you to miss any of these Instagram articles. They’Re going to do us all a lot of good and yeah. I hope you guys learned a lot like. I just said, because that’s why I’m here, if you ever want any more help, a little one-on-one or whatever look down below, because I available for one-on-one art mentoring. It just takes a little little minute to fit an application to make sure we aren’t good fit.
So thanks. You guys, I hope, to see you for the next few weeks, so in order to get started hashtagging. The first thing you want to do is research related hashtags to your ideal. Art tags, like I said before, just using things like hash tag, oil painting, hash tag artwork is really not going to cut it. It’S too broad and you need to get more specific. However, it’s a good place to start, so let’s go ahead and jump on my page, we’ll go over to the search and go under tags and let’s just go ahead and put an oil painting now that is obviously going to give me way more results than I Am looking for, however, it is an excellent place to start, because once I’m in here, I can start scrolling along that top little area.
That’S going to give me other hashtag suggestions. These are going to help me narrow it down a little bit so I’ll pick, one that seems applicable here. We go oil on canvas and then look at that 49.5 ki am much more likely to get noticed using that hashtag than simply oil painting and then it’s just sort of a game of continuing down the rabbit hole. Now I’m going to try all on panel see about how many are in that hashtag.
This is not a short process, you guys, but if you do it right, you take the time it’s going to be worth it. In the end, the more specific you can get the better think about adding hashtags as far as, if you’re in process think about the size or shape of your artwork think about any predominant colors heck. You can even hashtag your own City Plus artists. There are so many things that you can do and I’m telling you, the smaller the market, the better you’re going to have more people view your work like that another great hashtag resource is other artists, find other artists that are similar to you in some way and Look and see what their hashtags are now definitely do not copy these word-for-word.
But it’s a really good way to get started in the right direction and, if they’re popular artists – and they probably know a bit about what they’re doing and while you’re researching your art tags. Don’T forget to research themes as well think about any reoccurrence that may show up in your artwork, for example. I happen to do a lot with plants, so I my hashtag various plant life or plants, make me happy or all kinds of various tags, because even though those people might not be looking for art, specifically if they see a painting of a plant that they like They’Re pretty likely to follow you because they’re into plants and stuff already, this is a really good way to break into markets that are not necessarily art oriented all the time.
Trust me a lot of people like artwork that are not necessarily hashtag. Looking for artwork all the time, however, if you show them hey, I paint some of the things that you like already. They are definitely bound to jump on board another one to think about our specific art terms, such as high contrast cure, oscuro, black and white in focus. That kind of thing is going to bring more artists to your page.
Now, artists don’t tend to necessarily be your biggest patrons or buyers in the long run. However, it can be great for building a community learning about other artists and just generally supporting each other, so think about art trends, but just realize that those are going to be mostly used for attracting other artists. Now one of your best sources of information for finding hashtags is other artists.
When you find a really talented artist, go ahead and take a look at their page just for fun, I’m going to use something other than oil painting and pick out some of their posts. Go ahead and look at the quality that they have of their photos, which, of course, without high quality photos. It’S nothing and tap them, see who they’ve tagged, I’m going to have a whole nother article, all about art, sharing pages coming up, but it’s not a bad idea to see who your favorite artists are sharing with and, of course, make sure you’re checking out those hashtags.
I guarantee you, the best ones are going to be specific for each piece that they’re working on here. We go another one, a beautiful mermaid with her little cat mermaids. And what do you know? She’S got it shared and tied with all kinds of relevant pages so that hopefully they will spread her work for her, and then we’ve got some hashtags in the end to make sure here’s another artist. This one was really fun.
A nice illustrator and she’s got it going on beautiful, bright illustrations, a cute little caption, and then she just literally tags away now, once you have spent all of this time and effort which it will be quite a fair amount of to get your very best, hashtags Go ahead and save them in different groups on your phone. You want to make sure to switch up your hashtags depending on what you’re posting, not only because you want it to reach the relevant person or people, but because Instagram does not like it if they notice that all of your photos have the exact same set of Hashtags, so I have probably a dozen different sets of hashtags saved in my phone that I copy and paste in the first comment of each post once I’m ready to tag thanks so much for being here guys, I hope you learned so much make sure you click That subscribe button for the rest of my Instagram series coming out soon.
I just wanted to make sure that you guys can all hear me and see my screen. You should see the title slide now and I’m just going to move between a couple of slides. But we just launched text to give which is available to all advanced subscribers, so it’s just a glimpse of what you’ll get with the subscription to mighty cause in an overall look at the platform before we start digging into SEO. So we’re going to start talking about SEO in a very obvious place, which is what even is SEO and SEO is an acronym for search engine optimization. So, basically, SEO is about being seen it’s about ranking higher in search engine results so that more people can find your nonprofit and get to your website.
You do this with a combination of site, design and content. That’S built on your website and the idea behind it is not getting anyone and everyone to your nonprofits, let’s say but getting the right people to your website at the right time for the right reasons. So, through SEO, you’ll increase the volume of traffic you get to your site, but you’ll also be working to improve the quality of the traffic you get to your site and we’ll talk a little bit more about what that means, specifically in a few slides for the Purposes of this webinar, when I say website, I mean your nonprofits own domain and not your mighty cause page because, while mighty cause has a lot of tools that you can use to have to support with your donations and it can sort of act as that.
First, online space that you have as a new nonprofit. We really own that domain, you own your domaine, so you don’t really have a lot of control over what happens on my tea cause in terms of SEO, but you have total control over your own domain. So that’s really what I’m talking about on this webinar. When I say your website, I mean something that you maintain yourself through a content, management system or CMS like Wix or WordPress or Squarespace.
Seo is a topic that really does have its own language. So before we get too deep, I wanted to take a moment to define some terms that we’ll be using in this webinar and you’ll, also see over and over again. If you do some research into SEO on your own, the first term is sir: that’s s ERP, which is a search engine results page. So, basically, when you, google, something the SERP is what you see it’s the results that are given to you by Google and it’s worth noting here that your SERP may look different from someone else’s SERP or my SERP.
These days, SERPs are very much individualized, based on what search engines and the companies who own them know about you, which is quite a bit if your Google next is key words and key words are so important in SEO that we have a whole section of slides. Just on keywords, but all you need to know right now, is that a keyword is a term that is used to describe your page and also how users might search for your page.
A keyword can be just a single word, but it can also and most often an entire phrase. So if you’re searching for some shoes – and let’s say you wanted to specifically find wide width black flats that whole paid, that whole phrase would be your keyword. It would not just be flats not be women’s flats, it would be wide width black flats, because that is specifically what you are searching for. Organic is another word that you’ll hear a lot and it’s got a very different definition than what you’ll see at the grocery store when it comes to digital marking and s, marketing and SEO Organic basically just means unpaid, organic search is your ranking on a SERP or Search engine results page that you did not pay for and is entirely based on a search engine crawling your page and deciding to show that link to a user that decided it would be useful to them and organic traffic is the volume of users who are getting To your page, through unpaid blogs, like a link in organic search results, some is something you’ll see a lot and that’s just an acronym that means search, engine marketing and that’s an umbrella term that describes anything you do to market your website and your brand through search Engines so that can include organic search and SEO, and it also includes things like Google Ads that are paid and then finally, we have spider or crawl, which are kind of creepy ways to describe the same thing.
A spider is a piece of software that crawls the World Wide Web gathering information and then the spider takes that information or that data it collects back to the search engine. Now Google doesn’t just crawl the web specifically for you. So if you’re googling, how Game of Thrones ended, it’s not going to crawl every website on the Internet to try and find that answer for you, because that requires an incredible amount of work.
So, instead, what the spider or crawler does is it stores the data in indexes so that when you do search for those Game of Thrones spoilers, it already has that data stored and can quickly pull up the most relevant book web pages for you, so that you Can find out who’s sat on the Iron Throne, it recrawled webpages and updates these indexes periodically. It doesn’t do it every hour or every day. So that’s why sometimes, if you make a change to your web page or your website, and then you, google it, you may not see that reflected immediately.
That’S because Google needs to recrawl your page and get that more up-to-date information all right. So now that we’ve got some vocabulary out of the way we’ll move into what SEO actually does. As we mentioned a few moments ago, SEO helps increase the quantity of your traffic. It basically brings more front people to your digital front door, because you’ve made it easy to find you and it also improves the quality of that traffic, meaning that the people you’re bringing to your site are the people you actually want there.
It is meaningful traffic, so, through this use of SEO, you’ll be able to help more people in your community, find your nonprofit and hopefully filter out people who are searching terms in different countries or different cities, and just looking for things that you can’t really help them With because sometimes you’ll find that with Google results too you’ll end up on a page and you’re like I don’t know what this is, and it doesn’t have anything to do with me.
Smart SEO cuts down on that experience for both you and the user, and it also just boosts your visibility being a first second or third ranking page on a high-volume search can really be a game-changer for your website in your brand and really just help. You establish your online presence if you have something in particular, you’re looking to boost in visibility, a particular page that you’re looking to get more eyes on being thoughtful about SEO, can help you get the traffic and attention that you’re looking for and finally, it helps you Market, your nonprofit without sinking lots of money into it SEO may require the help of the webmaster and maybe a few tools here and there, but it’s otherwise totally free.
You don’t have to pay for this because it’s organic placement in search engine results page or SERPs. It’S just about editing your site structure, adding a few things here and there and how you create content for your site and if you do at some point, want to decide that you want to invest in search engine marketing or SEM or get a Google Ad grant Seo provides the structure you need to really succeed at those things there are different types of SEO to and will hit on every one of these types in this webinar on page SEO is most important, and it’s usually what people are talking about when they talk about Seo and it’s exactly what it sounds like it’s the things you do on a page that helps search engines, find that page and understand what it’s for and show it to users who might be interested in it off page SEO are things you do outside of your Own website and domain like getting backlinks, which we’ll talk more about later blackhat SEO, is sort of the the underbelly of SEO.
The name comes from old westerns. You had the black hats, who are the bad guys and the white hats? Who are the good guys and black hat SEO is basically that there are always people who will want to try and figure out how to game the system and they’ll use tricks that are either unethical or unsavory or outright banned to try and stick tricks, search engines And to ranking them higher in SERPs for whatever purpose, and usually that purpose is showing them advertising white hat SEO is the other side of that white hat SEO are accepted, encourages tact, encouraged tactics that are shared by search engines that really don’t scape.
The line of. What’S allowed or try to trick users or search engines, so all of the recommendations I’ll be making during this webinar are white hat SEO, but we will provide an example or two of black hat SEO. Just so you can understand what that looks like okay. So if I haven’t totally lost you – or this seems like it’s too complicated to care about your you’re, not alone, there are for-profit businesses that get confused and overwhelmed by SEO.
But I want to explain why this is important to nonprofits, why we decided to host this webinar and really explain what your nonprofit can get out of focusing on SEO. Ultimately, what SEO is really great for is building your brand and every time I’ve hosted a webinar about marketing for nonprofits. There are always some people who are hesitant or a little confused about this one point, which is that nonprofits have a brand, but you absolutely do and for nonprofits it’s really important, because having authority being trustworthy being trusted is what gets people to use your services and Donate to your organization’s, if people don’t trust you, they won’t come to you for assistance and they definitely aren’t going to donate to you and search engines really are our primary way of getting information on any subject these days.
So if someone say interested in volunteering or donating for an organization that what you do or needs more information about the subject, your nonprofit works on, or maybe heard from a friend about your nonprofit, and they want to learn more about what you do. You’Re really doing yourself a huge disservice if your website is a mess or it’s hard to find you’ll miss out on helping people you’ll miss out on volunteers and you’ll, miss out on donors too, because your website is the digital front door to your nonprofit and search Engines are a map to get there.
The cool thing about SEO is that it’s not something you have to pay for and paying for it won’t even necessarily help you be better at it. It’S all stuff. You can do on your own or work with your webmaster on, and you really don’t need to lay out much money to improve your SEO. It’S just a set of simple tasks and different ways of thinking about presenting content and information to people that will help boost your visibility.
So sometimes nonprofits are really quick to ask about paid advertising or to lay money out for paid advertising, but SEO really doesn’t cost. You anything I can have a huge impact for your nonprofit, and your brand SEO will also help you meet people where they are and well I usually use the phrase meet people where they are figuratively. This time I mean it literally because you’re meeting them where they literally are, which is where most of us are meaning that we’re on Google or searching for information on our smartphones SEO, will help you connect with your constituency when they’re actively seeking help or information with Whatever work, your nonprofit does so, for instance, if I found a lost dog, I might Google animal shelters near me and the first results I find will most likely be the first place.
I talked to about the dog which allows the animal shelter to help both me and the dog I found and hey when I walk in your door to give you the lost dog in hopes that they can find its owner, I may leave some cash for you To donate to your work so that this dog might have a better chance of a better outcome or to give another example, if I’m looking for meals on wheels for my grandmother or another service, like that, I’m going to google it and the first results or two Are going to be places, I contact for help taking care of my beloved grandmother, so this can sound pretty technical and robotic and I won’t lie.
Sometimes SEO is a little bit technical and robotic, but this is the heart of what it’s really all about for nonprofits. You’Re, making that first contact with a human being in your community who needs your help or your expertise or your services or your guidance, and even if you’re, not in the business of providing direct assistance to the public SEO, can help. You advance your mission. For instance, let’s say you’re an environmental organization, and you mostly do policy work and political advocacy rather than getting your hands dirty.
Dealing with the public SEO can still be a huge help, because you’ll be better equipped to share information about environmentally friendly practices and common questions. People have about climate change and the ways they can reduce their carbon footprint, and you can also let them know about bills that are being introduced in ways they can get involved. So an optimized page for something lots of people search for like, for instance, if you’re the environmental organization.
You want it to share some information about recycling and how to compost that can bring a lot of people to your page. And if you set up your page correctly, it can keep them clicking to get them more information about your nonprofit and about your work. Really. One of the biggest benefits to SEO is that it brings a greater volume of people to your website and every single one of those people is a potential donor, just as when somebody calls your organization on the phone or sends an email or walks in through your Front door, you have the opportunity to convert them into donors by providing them with information, services and so on, and you have that same opportunity with every visit visit visitor to your website.
So obviously, a key part in this is having an easy, visible way to donate. On your website it should be front and center, and that’s where many causes donation widget can help. You can embed it right on your website. Best practice is to create a page that says donated page specifically for donations that contains all the boilerplate legal language you want to include, and you can just embed the widget there, but you can also embed it in that on any page, we’d like to collect donations Soon, we’ll also be releasing some new forms that are a little bit fancy and allow you to get a little bit more creative.
So keep an eye out for that, because this is a really key part of how you can convert website visitors into donors and make sure that you’re getting donors at every entry point to your organization. The final thing we’ll discuss is the benefit of lead generation, and what that means in practice is capturing information. One of the most frequent questions that I get from nonprofits is: how do I get more people to sign up for my email list and one of the ways you’ll really want to consider is through your website, they’re online, and it’s really easy for them to enter Their email address and get signed up so if you’ve optimized for SEO and you’re bringing traffic to your website, you’ll also want to install some contact, forms, pop-ups, slide ins and banners prompting people to sign up for your email list.
There are a lot of programs. You can use for that, like optinmonster, there’s lots of plugins through WordPress if you have a wordpress site, but this is another thing: SEO is great for which is growing. Your email list and capturing leads, so you can start cultivating them and hopefully turn them into donors. Alright, so next we’re going to move into how to develop your SEO strategy. The first step here is really easy.
It’S just googling yourself and seeing where you are on SERPs, try a bunch of different ways to search and see how that shakes out. You can start with googling just the name of your organization and then get a little bit broader, more realistic, for instance, if you’re a food bank in Maryland, Google, food bank in America, food banks in Maryland, or help with food MD or food pantry, and the name Of your city, I’m just about everything you can think of and just see where you land on surfs keep track of the searches you try and where you rank and, of course, if someone else is ranking higher, make note of it, because those are the pages that You’Ll need to compete with, so you will need to make your page better than theirs and right now there are pages better than yours, so you can take some notes and see what they’re doing and sort of scope out the competition and come up with a way To rank higher than them, secondly, you’ll want to take a look at your website and see where your website is and how you can improve.
For instance, are you using Google Analytics? If not, you definitely should and as a side note, you can also set up. Google Analytics for your mighty Koz page Google Analytics, helps you see where your traffic is coming from, which pages are getting the most traffic? What people are doing when they get to your page, if they’re staying there or if they’re, leaving and so on? So these are all things: you’ll want to know how people are finding you.
Are they getting to your website from Google or social media, or is most of it direct traffic, meaning that someone clicked on the link that sent them right to a specific page? So take a look at the pages you’ve set up. Are you targeting any keywords? Can you tell whether you were trying to rank for something and what are the pages that are doing the best? If you have most, sites will give you some basic analytics, but Google Analytics will allow you to really dig in and see what’s happening on your website once you’ve evaluated where your website is, you can look ahead and go deeper by investing in some tools to help You with SEO for keyword research which we’re going to talk about more in depth later in the webinar.
You can use tools like Moz, which is what we use here. Google Keyword planner is something that we also use. That’S a tool: that’s provided through Google Ads and you can use it for free. If you sign up for a Google Ads account 8:8 refs semrush. These all have funny names so make sure you get those slides. If you’re interested in any of these tools, you can even look at this slide and reference it.
As we mentioned, Google Analytics is an absolute must and one thing I cannot recommend enough. If you have a wordpress site, is the Yoast plugin, it’s a paid plugin, but it’s not that expensive and it is worth its weight in gold. What it does is it tells you, as you’re, building a page how to improve its SEO. So, while you’re writing the page and you’re building it out, it might tell you hey your keyword density is way too high.
You need to dial it back or you should put the keyword your target in your URL. It’S not there and then move it up to your first paragraph because you didn’t say your keyword until the end. It gives you that kind of feedback which is really helpful as you’re building out content, and just so you know, we have no business relationship with any of these companies, so these are just recommendations based on what I’ve used, what I’ve had good experiences with and what I have found to be helpful to me and then you’ll want to assemble your SEO dream team.
Now one of the most important people on your dream team is your webmaster, because for some aspects of SEO you will need to go into page code and if that idea, totally freaks you out you’ll want someone who knows what they’re doing to do it for you. So some of you may already have a webmaster who helped you create your website, so you already know who that is otherwise see who, on your team, is comfortable with website design and website.
Building you’ll also need someone to learn, Google Analytics and become your analytics guru and basically they’ll just need to be able to understand the metrics on Google Analytics and share it with you on your and your team. Google is really awesome on this front and they have lots of tutorials and guides that you can access for free. So you may just want to pinpoint somebody that you want to become an expert in this for your team and then you’ll need a content master.
This is the person who will actually get in do some keyword, research, write and edit copy, which is the text on your website and help optimize your old content and build new content based on the needs of what you want, your website to do, and then finally, You’Ll have a task master, who can oversee the whole SEO project and break it down into phases and specific tasks that are then delegated to your dream team members.
Now I do want to say if you’re one person, because you run a small nonprofit and you you are playing all of these roles that is totally normal and it’s totally okay. One thing I would urge you to do is if you’re a one-person show is reach out and see. If you can get some volunteer help a lot of times. We have skilled professionals and our volunteer basis that we don’t even know because we’ve never asked them for things like helping with SEO and they may be able to fill in some of these roles.
For you and get you this help for free and if you’re really feeling truly on your own, I would check with your board and see if they know anybody, because often your board members are business professionals and they may know somebody who can help you get off On the right foot and start tackling some of this SEO, so now we’re basically just going to move into what Google looks for from a website all right.
So basically, Google made its name on its search algorithm, and that is what differentiated it from all of the search engines that existed during the AOL boom. So Ask Jeeves dogpile web crawler like host AltaVista. They didn’t really organize the information that they found. Well. So you just kind of had basically a literal dog pile of websites that you could click on and you had no real idea if it was going to be what you wanted or not.
But Google found a way they developed an algorithm that helps them organize the information for users in a way that made sense that was intuitive and helped users access the most relevant pages for their search and those algorithms have grown quite a bit. They started out with PageRank which, as a bit of trivia, is not named, because the algorithm helps Google rank pages, but after the algorithms creator, Larry Page.
So if you’re ever playing Trivial Pursuit that may come in handy, they then released updates that would further refine search results. They came out and they all get. They gave them all really cute names. Google panda came out in 2011 to weed out low quality pages from search results and give priority to high quality pages, so basically cutting down on spammy pages that just want to show you advertising on Google penguin came out in 2012 and that further weeded out pages That were using black hat SEO techniques like keyword stuffing and Google hummingbird came out in 2013.
How many were really changed: the search landscape by focusing on sites that had natural conversational, writing styles and sites that had used their recommendations to optimize their pages. That weeded out a lot of the link, farms and other blackhat websites that were using kind of shady techniques to get to get you into a page where they would show you basically a bunch of garbage. So Google made its name on providing the best search results on the web, and that is what they’re still focused on to this day.
Basically, when it comes to search Google’s only concern is how well a page answers the searchers question. If they deliver irrelevant search results, they may go to Bing, so they may use that loser and they want that user to stay on Google. So that’s the top thing they look at and they just look at how well a page answers a user’s question based on their search history based on their search term based on what’s on the page, and then they break that down into several different factors and we’ll Go into what those factors are an admitted, but that’s the important thing to keep in mind when you’re thinking about SEO they’re, really not thinking about themselves that or your nonprofit and what your needs are and what would be best for your nonprofit.
All they want is to provide the best answer to whatever the user is searching for, and that is it. You’Ve probably noticed in the past few years that Google is getting even more sophisticated and how it organizes its searches, so that often you’ll get a Google snippet. That answers a question for you right on the SERP, so that you don’t even have to click on a link to get the information you need.
The funny thing there is that it, even if you have a Google snippet, you’re, still going to get a ton of clicks, even though the information has been given and if the question was answered because and that lends a lot of authority to your page. So people are much more likely to click through and see what you have to say – and one thing I do want to note – is that Google is using machine learning and AI or artificial intelligence, and so it’s always been really hard to hack, Google searches because they’re Light years ahead of the rest of us with their technology and because of their machine learning and AI, it’s even harder to do that so stay honest here, because trying hacks or tricks is only going to hurt you, Google can see what you’re doing and they will Downgrade any pages using blackhat or shady techniques – and I just want to note here that there are definitely other search engines out there like being in Yahoo and they’re, totally valid and fine to use.
I’M just focusing on Google here, because there are the fault leaders they sort of are the industry leaders they’re the trendsetters and all the other search engines follow what they do. So if you do well on a Google search, you’ll probably do well on it being an ego who’s search as well. So that’s all great information, but what are you supposed to actually do on your webpage right? Well, here are the on-page factors that Google is looking for.
These are those things that break breaks down. What Google is looking for. First, you need to have a sitemap available to Google and a sitemap is just a file that has information about everything. That’S on your website so that Google can crawl it and get the information that it needs. Google looks at your page load speed, because if your page takes a million years to load, when someone clicks on it, it doesn’t want to waste users time sending people there, because that’s a bad experience.
They also look for a mobile-friendly design, which is becoming increasingly important with smartphones, because most of us are no longer conducting Google searches from a desktop computer, but from our phones. So if your website is website is not mobile, friendly and people need to pinch into zoom and read. What’S on your page, that’s a really poor user experience and it acts as a barrier between the user and information.
So it’s important to make sure that your website is mobile friendly and that can really just be as simple as moving to a mobile-friendly template on WordPress. Google looks for brief, descriptive, page titles. So if you look at the top of your browser and your page says, untitled, it’s not going to rank on a SERP most likely, because Google doesn’t really know what your page is about, because you didn’t tell them with a page title.
It also looks at page descriptions or met tags that tell Google and the user what is on the page. So when you google, and see a little sentence or two underneath that’s describing the content on the page. That’S because someone added a meta tag or a meta description. Google can pull that information from your page, but it may not be what you want it to be, and Google doesn’t really like to do that.
So it’s in your best interest to add that description, and it also at looks at your headings, which are your H ones and your h2s and so on and the actual content of your page, Google looks for structured data markup, that’s just to better understand your page And that’s something that your webmaster really can help you with, or you can find examples of it by googling it. It does involve going into the code and adding some things there, but they do provide pretty clear instructions.
If you want to Google structured data markup SEO and finally it’s looking at your site structure and hierarchy, it’s looking to see, basically whether your website is robust and structured in a way that will go into detail about in a minute or whether your site is kind Of thin and only has five pages, with no sub pages, basically, it’s trying to determine how trustworthy you are, how authoritative you are so, obviously the more robust your site is the higher you will rank.
So I know this is a lot of information and I’ll make sure that you get this slide deck so that you can go through this list of on-page factors when you need to a lot of these, though, are really easy winds that don’t require a whole lot Of work like adding a better title to your page or adding meta tags and adding headers or putting your keywords in your headers, if you didn’t do that the first time around, so these are really quick ways that you can improve your SEO and going forward when You’Re building new content for your website make sure that you’re taking these factors into account and building them in from the start.
Google also looks at off-page factors, and one of the biggest ones is backlinks, meaning whether your site is linked elsewhere and whether those sites are trustworthy. Google only wants to recommend good sources of information. It doesn’t want to be known for sending people to spammy sites. So this is one of the ways that Google determines whether you’re a trustworthy source of information, because if other people are linking to you and those sites where you’re being linked are also good, trustworthy websites, then they can feel pretty confident that you are a trustworthy source Of information and just the links themselves are not enough here, because, if the lis, if you’re getting backlinks through a site, that’s basically a link farm, which is a website that kind of just exists for the sole purpose of providing backlinks.
There’S, usually, you know people pay for that Google actually dings you for that and it’ll hurt your overall SEO. Things like mentions in news articles, press releases, guest blogs and so on will help your SEO as well a presence on social media. So one thing Google looks for – and I recommend doing as soon as you can is a Google, my business profile, it’s free to use and allows Google to nicely packaged together a knowledge panel about your nonprofit information.
You’Ve probably seen this before. If you take a look at the slide, you can see mighty causes knowledge panel through Google, my business, it just has general information about your business. It’Ll have any reviews your business hours, etc. So all you have to do is sign up for Google. My business verify your business and start filling out your profile. So add your business hours. Add some photos make sure your address is correct, add a phone number and that last part is important because on smart phones, when you have a Google, my business profile, people can just click a button or tap a button on their phone.
To give you a call. So it makes it really easy for people to get in touch with you and Google likes it too, because it’s more helpful for the user and the difference in a SERP with a filled out. Google, my business profile and without it, is really stark. It really and truly does make a huge difference in how attractive and prom it your business information is on Google, so this is a quick win and whether you do anything else we talked about in this webinar.
This is a simple, easy thing you can do. That will help your nonprofit be more visible in SERPs and just to be clear, you’re, not targeting any keywords here. This is just something so when somebody Google’s the name of your nonprofit and they want to find us information, you want to get to your website or they’re looking for your phone number or directions, they can easily find it and it nicely packages that, together for the User, alright, so we’ve mentioned keywords a whole bunch of times and now we’re going to dive into what keywords are, how they work and how keyword research works.
So, as I mentioned earlier, a keyword is a search term, but in a more general sense it’s a term that describes the content on your page and will help users find and understand the content on your page. A keyword can be a single phrase, a single word, but more often it’s a few words or a phrase with keywords: there’s a tough balance to strike between being broad, while not being so specific that you have a keyword, no one actually searches for, for instance, if You were running a cat rescue.
The key word cat is way too broad, but cat rescue in Denver with same-day adoptions – that has black cats, is way too specific. So you’ll need to strike the right balance of having something that is broad and can answer lots of questions, but is not so specific that you know nobody actually searches that way and, most importantly, once you choose a keyword, you need to actually build a page with Content that supports the use of that keyword so to go back to a cat rescue.
If you decide to target the word cat, it’s option on your page and then you spend half the page talking about dog adoptions. That keyword doesn’t work for the actual content on your page, so it’s not a helpful page for somebody who’s looking for information about cabbage options, so in that case you need to either edit your page. So it’s more about cat adoptions or just choose a different keyword to target and talk about adoptions.
More gem really keyword targeting is considered on-page SEO. Since it’s something that you’re going to do on the page itself. Sometimes, choosing a keyword can be really easy and obvious, but in either case it helps to use a keyword Explorer or a keyword planner during the process. The programs we talked about earlier, like Moz and SEMRush, have keyword Explorers that will show you. What pages are currently ranking for a keyword and also what the volume and opportunity is so to go back to Katz, because clearly, I’m a cat, lady and I keep bringing up cats if you are looking to rank for a page that you put together on cat Behavior you could try the keyword, cat, behavior and plug that into a keyword Explorer, but you’ll probably see that because that’s so broad it gets a lot of volume, but there’s a ton of competition from really well-established robust web websites.
So you can use the keyword Explorer to hone in on the right keyword for your page, so most of these explorers and planners track volume and opportunity, so you’ll want to find a keyword that gets decent volume. People are actually using this term to search, but also has a high opportunity score, which means that there’s room for your page to be included, because there’s not a bunch of really great pages, already ranking for that term.
Again, your your content has to be relevant here. So in your keyword, research, you may find that cat behavior is a really crowded playing field, but there’s a lot of opportunity for a page on a specific cat behavior like cats, scratching couches. So you could change up the type of content you end up making you could pivot to addressing a more specific page on cat behavior, instead of just having one general page and targeting keywords with high opportunity within the general subject, you’re looking to create content on, you May also decide that kr blog is a great place for a lot of this.
So, instead of creating a landing page, you write a blog post. Instead, the keep the thing with keyword. Research is to keep in mind what question is being asked with the keyword and how well you’re answering it. So you want to choose keywords that are questions. People are actually likely to ask, and that brings us to the types of things that people tend to ask. Google, the first and most common type is informational queries such as what is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow which any Monty Python fans in the audience probably know how to answer.
These are just straightforward questions with straightforward answers. The next is navigational queries, so, for instance, if someone is looking for our blog, they may google mighty cos blog. These are straightforward, they’re, just looking to get to a specific page on the Internet and asking Google to help them find it next is transactional queries where a user wants to do something like stream Game of Thrones.
Google will find them a website where they can stream Game of Thrones. It’S very easy and very simple: next, you have commercial investigation, so if someone is looking, for instance, for the best nonprofit, fundraising platform or the best running shoes or the best gaming monitor the Google, those terms and Google would fetch them information comparing those different options, so It wouldn’t point you to a website, necessarily that sells running shoes.
If you were looking for the best running shoes, it would point you to a web page that is comparing different kinds of running shoes, and if you were to google that you would probably find that a lot of shoe companies are creating pages on their own websites. So they can sell their product, but also capture that traffic looking for the best running shoes and then finally, you have local queries which are gaining popularity as we carry our smartphones around and that’s just looking for stuff near you.
So since Google knows where you are and pretty much everything about you, you can google animal shelters near me or coffee shops near me and get a listing of what is near you with distance and directions through Google Maps so for the most part, with keyword targeting You’Re going to be looking at informational, queries and local queries, but some exceptions, because you know, for instance, if you accept blood donations, that you’re a non-profit and someone wants to know where they can donate blood near them.
You’Ll want to get them to that page. With that information, so it’s also important to keep in mind what kind of query your Optima for when you’re joined, keyword, research and then the question is once you’ve got your keyword. Where does it go? It goes in your page title in your headers and your sub. Headers, which are the bits on your page, the slightly larger, bolder text in your description in your actual content on your page, your URL, your alt text, which is the text that you put behind images for screen readers for people who are not able to read them.
So the they’ll actually be read by a screen reader and your anchor text, which is basically just another way of saying hyperlinks. If you do any editing inside of your website, CMS or content management system, which, for instance, would be something like WordPress or Squarespace or Wix. You can probably stick your keyword in these places pretty easily it’s built in to help you do that, but you can also ask your webmaster to help you do this for you, especially if you’re having a hard time finding the alt text and description so keywords and Content are BFFs they’re best friends, they have a super close relationship and they need to work closely together to complement each other.
Your keywords have to be fully integrated into your pages content so that it’s natural and it sounds like it was written by a human for a human, and it must also be relevant again. Google is looking for pages with content that best answer the questions that the users are asking. So if these things are just brand, if they don’t make sense together and don’t fully mesh, it’s not a helpful answer on a page.
So when you’re working on SEO, you’ll basically be using your keyword to audit your content or create your content and make sure that they’re totally meshed make sense together and they’re intertwined. I wanted to move on to some keyword, do’s and dont’s. The do’s are pretty simple: focus on search or intent, and relevance as we’ve talked a lot about and use your keywords to refine your content so that it answers a question better focus on providing quality content, meaning a helpful, well-written page with skimmable information that answers the Question: that’s jested by your keyword and finally diversify.
Your whole site is not going to be married to one keyword. It won’t rank for a keyword. Individual pages within your website will rank. So if there’s a keyword, you want to rank for create a new page for it or write a blog post around it. The more keywords you target, the more you will rank and the more people you will bring to your site overall and they’ll, move on to some don’ts. The biggest don’t is keyword stuffing, and that is just what it sounds like it’s using the keyword over and over again in a way that feels unnatural and robotic, for instance, if you are trying to rank for the keyword apples, if your keyword stuffing, you might write Something like apples are a terrific fruit.
There are so many different kinds of apples, Fuji, apples, Gala, apples, pink, lady apples, granny smith, apples and so on. It sounds ridiculous and that’s keyword stuffing and it’ll actually hurt your SEO, because Google sees what you’re doing and it dings you. So you want the keyword in there but present in those few key areas we talked about and you need for the content to sound. Like a human being, wrote it and it’s not something that a computer spat out for you.
Another thing you’ll want to avoid like the plague is hidden keywords. Thankfully, Google’s changes have stopped this practice for the most part, but hidden keywords are sticking invisible keywords into the page like putting the keyword a million times in white text on the page, so that it’s in the code, but it’s not visible to users. That’S black hat, and that is a big no-no. Again you really can’t fool, Google, so don’t even try and the last don’t is don’t skip your keyword.
Research without researching keywords, you’ll likely find that your pages are unfocused and they aren’t really ranking for anything because you didn’t know what term you were going for when you created the page. So make sure you do your keyword, research before you build content. Okay, so last day, I wanted to touch on actual site structure and how those relate to keywords. This is sort of advanced, but I think it’s important to go over and that’s pillar pages and topic clusters, so a pillar page is where you target those broader keywords.
Like, for instance, again cats, so you may build a page which is called a pillar page where you collect all of your content about cats, so you think of it as a tree with branches or a rustic. Russian nesting doll in that pillar. Page you’ll talk about cats and you’ll, also branch out into more specific subjects, which are called topic clusters like cat behavior and all the pages that shoot off from that about cat behavior cat adoption is another topic cluster and that’s where you’ll share.
All of your information about adopting cats from your shelter, maybe a topic cluster about cat health and answering some questions about cat health, like what vaccines is my cat need? How often does my cat need to go to the vet and so on? This is a great way to build a robust website, target lots of keywords and provide lots of information to the public and get traffic to your site and because you’ll have this rich library of information.
People will spend more time on your site because you’ll want to create a link between these pages. So, for instance, when somebody’s on the cat adoption page, they can be prompted with a link to your other page about how to choose the right cat for your family and so on, and this all helps greatly with SEO. Google is looking for this type of structure, so this may sound confusing, and you definitely don’t need to start here, but when we’re talking about a larger SEO project, this is kind of where you want to end up with this big library of pillar pages and topic Clusters based on keywords that you’re looking to target so basically that that’s pillar pages and topic clusters.
You can always email me if you have specific questions about this, because this is a little bit more complex, but if you’re already doing well with SEO. This might be the next step for you all right and to piggyback off of that big spiel about content, we’re going to talk about actually creating content for SEO. So this is basically how you build a page step by step. First, you find your keyword or keywords.
So you know what you’re focusing on. Then you come up with a short, descriptive, page title and you map out your headers, which are the bits of big text that break up your page into different sections. You’Ll want to make sure your keyword are represented in the headers, though they don’t have to be in every single one and then you’ll just start writing out your content. Long-Form content is ideal for SEO, so aiming in a perfect world, for a thousand words is great.
If you can get in at bare minimum, you want at least 300. That is the bare minimum length you need to rank on. Google, if you can get in between those numbers. You’Re good you’ll want to add some images. Don’T forget. The alt text add article if you have it make sure you’ve got some other links to other content and link out to other websites just to round out and add anchor text to your page. Following this structure, you can build a solid landing page, and this is also how I build blog posts, so this is really helpful.
The structure is very simple and it’s a format that you can easily learn: that’s optimized for a search engine visibility, so the kind of content that works is pretty universal. As we discussed content that answers a direct question tends to do really. Well, if you frequent any recipe blogs you’ll, see this a lot before a recipe for brownies you’ll, see a header that says how do you make brownies and then a paragraph that answers the question of how to make brownies you’re there for a recipe, but you’ve got It in paragraph form too, and it’s kind of confusing, but the author did that for search engine optimization and a note on recipe.
Bloggers too. That’S also why they’ll have the long preamble about all of their childhood memories of brownies before their recipe, so that they can get to that minimum word count for their blog post their recipe. So that’s actually a really great great place to learn SEO if you’re interested is check out some recipe blocks, because it’s pretty naked ly apparent on their sites. What they’re doing – and you can learn from that structure, but basically answering a direct question – is really a great way to rank on a circuit.
Moving on, you want your content to be skimming skimming Bowl because most people skin web pages, instead of sitting down to read them word for word. So that’s where headers and lists come in handy, different kinds of content, like images, infographics articles etc, can help break up the content, make it easier to read and also help with SEO, and one thing we haven’t really talked about. Much is calls to action, but they’re also an important component to strong SEO.
Where do you want the person? That’S reading your page to go next so, for instance, if you’re, a non-profit trying to get people to register to vote, a call to action would be okay. Here’S a bunch of information about why you should register and here’s a button where you can actually do it, and this is a way of keeping people on your website, because your call to action can be something else on your website like making a donation and good Content also just has a clear focus and is written well, like it came from an actual human being and not a computer.
Some things you’ll want to keep in mind for creating content, are keyword density and there is an actual number you’re aiming for with the amount of times you actually mention your keyword, and that is point two point. Five percent of your total copy, under that it may not register for the keyword and over that you could get dinged for keyword. Stuffing Yoast actually calculates this for you in WordPress and and Flags it for you if you’re under or over so Yoast can be a really helpful tool here.
You’Ll want to make sure that the keyword is in the right places like in the title. First, paragraph of the text, and so on, like we talked about and you’ll want to stay away from creating multiple pages, with the same keyword focus because you’ll essentially end up competing with yourself and again. You want to keep your copy short and scalable you’re. Not writing the next great American novel you’re just trying to impart some information in a way that’s easy to understand to the public, so think Hemingway if you want to think novelists, keep it short and punchy all right.
So I do want to talk a little bit about link building. I don’t want to get too deep into it, but this is an important part of SEO, so I wanted to briefly go into it. Backlinks are exactly what they sound like. There are links to your website or a page on your website from outside sources and as we discuss, Google looks at this to determine whether or not you are a trustworthy source of information.
So when you’re thinking of backlink strategy, first try to think of anywhere that you should be linked, but aren’t like News article where your executive director was interviewed or a partner organizations website. If you get mentioned somewhere, but don’t get a link, it’s always worth reaching out and asking for a link, because these do matter quite a bit and researching where you’re mentioned and where you should be linked and asking them to provide a link on the the page.
Where you’re mentioned can be a really great easy task for a volunteer, especially one who’s, maybe interested in working from home, so that you don’t have to spend your time writing emails about backlinks. The other side of this is finding opportunities to build your links. For instance, guest blogs are a really great way to build links, and, if you use my any cause and you’ve run a fundraiser that you want to write about, you can always contact me.
We’Re happy to publish guest posts on the mighty cause, blog conferences and networking events. Press releases. Press outreach are really great for link building, so we’ve recommend making sure that you stay in touch with local press and make your organization available to media inquiries so that you can get those interviews where you’re a subject matter expert and possibly get a link in a News article alright, so we are in the home stretch and I just wanted to quickly go through some best practices.
For you and summarize some of what we’ve talked about. First, you should know that SEO is a long game. The results are not immediate. It can take a little time to start seeing the effects of SEO on site traffic signups for your newsletter and so on so be patient. Keep track of what you’re doing celebrate your small successes and if you find yourself tempted to form this out to someone else that is offering hacks or making crazy promises about quick SEO results be very careful because some of them can be kind of scammy and a Waste of money in time SEO is something that you build over time, not something that you can do quickly to see a massive jump in traffic.
It’S more of a long-term investment than a quick payout. An important best practice is to track your progress and make sure you understand your metrics. Google offers free, comprehensive guides to SEO analytics PPC or pay-per-click vert izing, which can be extremely helpful in understanding the ins and outs of search engine marketing. So I definitely recommend taking advantage of the free resources that are available.
I do SEO SEO work here. I’Ve done it for nonprofits um and I didn’t go to school for this. This is just information. That’S freely available. It’S democratized. Anyone can learn it. The resources are free, so just you know use what’s available to you, work with your webmaster to ensure your analytics are working properly and as with any project, you want to define your goals, so you can track your progress um.
So your goal at first may just be to add page titles to all of your webpages and start writing monthly blogs for SEO, and those are totally fine goals that you can work toward. Just make sure that you actually take the time to set them. And you want to also set kpi’s, those are key performance indicators and they work with your goals. Obviously so, for instance, if your goal is more traffic to an important page on your website, then volume of traffic to that page is a KPI.
That’S the metric you’re. Looking at to measure your success so set those check on them at least monthly, and you know just make sure you’re on the right track. One thing that’s helped me. A lot is just staying on top of trends for SEO. So I know that when something is changing, if Google’s releasing an algorithm update and reading, blogs is also really helpful. Um. Some of my favorites are the Moz blog there’s this guy Neil Patel, who is so good at SEO that if you, google, literally anything related to SEO a blog post of his will pop up so he’s a great source of information, and you can kind of see The stuff in action, HubSpot semrush, they have great blogs and the Yoast blog – is also a great source of information.
And, of course I have to plug my tea causes, blog, which I run, and you can also find lots of great content there for fundraising strategy and finally, stick with my because we are focused on small to mid-sized nonprofits. So all of our tools and trainings are focused on that audience and we’re also priced for that demographic, meaning, we’re affordable and can suit any budget, no matter how small, because you can use us for free if you want to.
We also offer free monthly trainings, like this one, all the tools you need to put these tips to you, so you can get more donations and grow your nonprofit all right, so just under the wire we’re right at the end of the presentation. So I wanted to take some time to answer any questions that you guys might have. So if you have a question just type it into the questions box of your GoToWebinar panel, okay, it looks like there’s a question here: do you recommend a Google grant um? Yes, I do recommend a Google grant with a couple of caveats, so Google Grants are wonderful.
It’S a program that Google has created so that if you want to get into you pay-per-click advertising, which are the paid ads in Google searches that you see, they provide those to nonprofits for free. So you get an advertising budget through Google Grants and you just create your as an old place, those those ads in Google searches at Google’s expense. It’S a grant basically, however, this stuff that we’re talking about related to SEO.
You need to have in place first because a lot of its going to be really confusing to you and you’re going to have a hard time succeeding if you still have only five pages on your website. You don’t have page titles you’re, not using keywords and headers, because you’re going to need to use all of those things with a Google grant. So I would say the things that we talked about here today and I know it’s we just reached an hour.
So if you need to log off, please feel free, but if you want to stick around I’ll answer any questions you, what you guys might have a Google grant would be the next step after you kind of have a handle on SEO as a general concept, and You put some some practices into place to have build pages built out and keywords targeted, and you also want to think about things like page load speed, because those are things that Google is going to look at and with a Google grant.
Just like any grant. You do have certain benchmarks that you have to hit in order to keep the grant so the actually fairly high. So you want to make sure that if you get a Google grant you’re set up for success and you have a robust website where you can promote it and use that grant for all it’s worth, because it’s like eleven thousand dollars. It’S quite a bit of money. Um, okay, what website builders do you recommend um? Well, my favorite honestly from me to you is WordPress, especially if you need to be able to maintain your website on your own.
WordPress is great for that. You can have your own domain. You can self host it, which means that you don’t have to go through wordpress.Com. You could go through something like dream, host or Bluehost or GoDaddy or whatever you choose. But I I recommend WordPress, especially if you’re getting your first website together, because it’s really easy to maintain a lot of this stuff is baked into it and very easy for you to do on your own.
Without the help of you know, somebody who writes code and there’s also a lot of really excellent plugins that WordPress offers and a plug-in is basically like. The same thing is a widget. If you think about a widget, you just plug it into your website and it’s a tool, that’s good, to go and helps you do the thing that you want to do so. I really recommend WordPress for your first site, but yeah I mean there’s also lots out there, there’s Squarespace, there’s Wix.
You can also create a site from scratch. The only thing to consider there if you’re, using something like you know a CMS like Drupal a little bit more complicated. You might need some help maintaining it. So you want to choose something, that’s easy for you to maintain, but I’m a huge fan of WordPress. It’S a very user friendly. So even if you have no web design experience, you should be able to put together a pretty good WordPress site.
Alright, so there’s any questions I’ll give you one more minute to enter them in okay. So this is an interesting question. We have someone who writes a newspaper article each month, so how would we use this on backlinks? Well, if it’s something that’s almost newspapers have a website local papers, their websites might be a little bit thin, but if they’re also publishing the the monthly article to their publications website, just ask them, you know: can you please include a link to the our website, or This particular page so, depending on what they’re writing you can work with them like I’m, not sure what your line of work is.
But let’s say: if you were a food bank and you were addressing some particular side of food insecurity, you could create a page to complement that and say: hey here’s, some more information. Can you include this in the article? The other thing you could do if they absolutely do not have you know this article printed or publish on their website as well is they can ask if they can just include a link in the actual text of the article that that’s published? If it’s a print publication, you’ll just want to make sure that your your URL is pretty easy to remember you can, you know, create a shorter link.
That’S, like you know, www your nonprofit com, slash whatever your subject is so that people can easily get directed to the right place without taking up a bunch of print because they may be constrained when they’re writing that kind of thing in but just email them and Just say: hey, you know, is this published anywhere else? Are you publishing this on your website? Is there any chance? You can include a link to this particular page on on on the article that you’re writing and just see where you go, because they are probably journalists are very familiar with back linking they get asked for backlinks all the time, so just write in an email and See see, what’s what and see if you can get to include a link um? Yes, I will send the slide deck.
That’S always a question. I will make sure that you have the slide deck it’s about 4 o’clock Eastern Time, so you’ll probably get it tomorrow, but you will have access to the full slide deck. This is a lot of information guys, so I want to make sure that you have the slides to refer back to and you’ll also get a recording of the webinar. So if you wanted to share it with somebody that you want to work with you on SEO, you can share it with them as well, and I think that’s all the questions we have.
My email is Linda at my tea cause calm, so you can feel free to email me if you have any any follow-up questions for me or if you want to chat SEO or community recommendations for any tools, I’m happy to help out that you guys have been Great thanks for sticking with me for this through this really technical topic. I hope you got some helpful information and I hope you enjoy the rest of your day.

I’Ve started literally started on Instagram like when, I think of a name. I immediately go and see if it’s available on Instagram, I don’t only person who does says who comment below if, when you start a business, you always go to Instagram. First, so I guess that’s like my first tip, if you are starting a business, that’s in 2019. The first thing you need to do is think of a name, and let me give you a tip on top of that tip when you think of a name for your business, please get ii of pain.
I know some of you are not getting second opinions and honestly it will save you a ton of money. If you just got second opinions from other people like family and friends, they will tell you before you go, buy a domain name before you go register your business they’ll. Tell you if it’s crappy or not, I think your the name of your business should be. Two names tops. You do not need 3, 4 or 5. I seen a business today and their name was.
I don’t want to say it because I’m going to be mean, but it was a whole sentence and I’m like girl. My second tip once you think of a name, make sure it’s available in all platform, meaning your Instagram name to your domain name to your Facebook. To your youtube, if that name is not available on all platforms or if you can’t I’ll make it look almost similar on all platforms, do not use that name.
My next tip is your logo. If you’re starting a business in 2019, you have to bring it like. Do not have fast your logo. That’S like one of my pet peeves. I hate. I hate an ugly logo. Okay, invest in your logo, logo. I’Ve ever done for my businesses have been done by me. Some of y’all do way too much with the fonts and in the designs and the lines going off through the logo and the pictures, and it’s like low-quality, and I just I can’t I can’t do it so yeah make sure you have a very good logo.
I guess my third tip for starting a business on Instagram in 2018. Wait are wait. Let me back it up when I say start a business on Instagram I mean an online business, so of course your business isn’t going to only be on Instagram. You know you should have a Facebook page, you maybe even a YouTube for it. Obviously a website when I, when I say I’m, started business on Instagram, I mean Instagram being your main platform.
Please do not forget, however, to market your business in other ways other than Instagram. I get so many people that think that Instagram is the beginning in the end of their business and they think, oh, I just have to post on here every day and people will buy my product. No, there are so many ways to market an online business and if you think just posting on Instagram is like going to somehow make you a millionaire, that’s not common and it takes hard work and you have to even know like really what you’re doing when you Start a business on on Instagram, so keep that in mind who’s that my third fourth, fourth tip for starting a business on Instagram.
Are you guys liking this close up blog style like BAM, angles? Okay! So now that you have your name, you have your logo. You’Ve bought your domain name. You’Ve opened up all your social media. You want to start posting really great content. Really they invest in a camera, invest in getting a photographer, even take your own photos or get a photographer and make sure that your photos have good lighting.
Its high quality make sure you go on YouTube and learn how to edit photos. That’S really going to be a game-changer in 2019, because people are, we are Millennials and we’re getting older, and then we have generation. I think it’s Y or Z, whoever is after us that generation are very, very visual, just like Millennials like bring it or go home, so keep creating great content. Article is going to be a very big thing in 20.
Tene, I feel, like 2018 was like the year of graphics and great photos and like building an aesthetic, whereas I feel, like 2019, is really going to be more about entertainment and article, like my fifth tip, for starting a business in 2019 on Instagram. If it’s influencer mark, I don’t think influencer marketing is going anywhere. So if you are a complete beginner, I’m going to go through and show you how you can actually become an expert in just one article and if you guys are brand new Here to the blog. If you guys subscribe like this article and comment down below, if you guys come and Instagram the story ads, Then I will share with you my Facebook and Instagram ads Mini-course 100 % feel free just as a special bonus here for reading this article.
So anyway, let’s just jump into this, I’m going to spray down and show you guys exactly how to create these Story ads, how the tools I use the free tools I use to go through and create the actual images or the articles and all this stuff. But before we dive in all that, let’s break down What an Instagram story at even is so, if you look at this picture right here when you’re on Instagram Up here at the very top.
This is where your friends stories are going to be right, and so, as you’re clicking on these and you’re reading, these You’re going to be clicking next next next to go kind of wash through the stories and then ads will pop up as you’re clicking through All Those stories right now You’ve probably already seen these Instagram ad stories. So you probably know exactly what I’m talking about For those of you guys who have not seen them yet and are not really sure what I’m talking about.
That’S what those are So the nice thing about it is when you jump on Instagram or someone else jumps onto Instagram if you’re not like a big Instagram person. They’Re, these ads are right here at the very top. So the first thing a lot of people do, is they click on those stories, because it’s right there at the very top and They don’t have to go through and scroll down the newsfeed to see these ads, and this is they’re clicking through these ads.
We’Ll just go through and pop up, So that’s a huge benefit right there Now one thing: I wanted to break down really quick and show you guys What not to do when it comes to story ads now. This is actually a good example. See how There is just he’s got like it looks like a article or an image right here and it says swipe up to read the demo. So there’s hardly any words right here and it’s just very quick and concise because as people are reading stories, They’re just clicking tapping through them super fast, And so you need to capture their attention.
Super quick I’ve seen some Instagram story as before. Where they’ve got like this paragraph of text and Nobody’s going to read that right Nobody’s going to go, sit there and read through it and see what’s going on, so it’s got. Ta be like three to five words, get to the point quick and if it’s a article versus an image, just make sure you get to the point quick so that you can actually capture their attention and Get them to do whatever you want them to do so.
Anyway, I just wanted to cover this really quick before we actually dive into the creation of these ads and one resource that Also include in the the Facebook ads and Instagram ads mini course. For you guys, you guys comment down below and give this article a thumbs up. Is the Facebook and Instagram ad specs. So this is for Instagram stories right here, So every single ad placement, So whether you’re posting on the Instagram newsfeed Instagram stories, Facebook newsfeed the right-hand column wherever it is, They all have different specs that you have to abide by.
So The image is going to be a certain size Where the article can only be a certain amount of time and so right here This is the image instagrams, the Instagram stories break down. Okay, So you can kind of see the tech requirements. You can see the image ratios 9 by 16, 16 by 9, 4 by 5, And it says image may consist of more than 20 %. That consists of more than 20 % text may experience reduced delivery because they don’t want like a ton of Text on the images and that’s why I went back and showed you guys that one example of just having minimal text Because they want it to be.
More of that social environment that that image based platform right So coming down here, You can see the maximum image ratio. You can see. The article duration in seconds Only can be 60 seconds long. If it’s longer than 60 seconds, They won’t. Let you advertise on Instagram stories. Ok, so then it kind of breaks down and shows you all of the Objectives that it supports in the call to actions, but we’re not going to get into that right.
Now We’re going to touch that when we go in and set up an actual Instagram advertising campaign. So with that said, let’s jump over here and Right here on the Facebook Ads manager. This is where we’re going to create our all of our Instagram ads. Okay. So it’s the same place. Facebook bought Instagram over a billion dollars couple years back and now. They’Ve just basically Migrated all of the advertising tools into the Facebook Ads manager to make it simple and easy for you as a business owner.
So what we’re going to do to go set this up is we’re going to first click on create campaign here. So this is a demo account. I’Ve got for, you guys, will click on create and then We’ll just hit start over here. So this marketing objective? This is really important and Facebook and Instagram when I say Facebook is basically Instagram. It’S the same thing right. They have so much data on all their users that, based on the marketing objective that you choose, They will know who they should show your ads to.
First right, so, if you’re going to do a article, They know which people are more likely to actually read a article on Instagram Watch, a article on Facebook, If you’re doing the messaging one. If you do what all these ones traffic, they know which people are more likely to click to your website and Engagement, more likely to like your comment and post all those different things. So for this one, let’s just do traffic! So that’s getting people to see your ad and then swipe up or click on or whatever and go to your website, Your blog, whatever you’re using right.
So That’s really important to go through and see What marketing objective you actually want, because I work with a lot of business owners and they’ll want to be generating leads, Someone’s name phone or email address, but they’ll choose an engagement campaign Which is really based around getting Just likes comments and shares, So it really. You know it’s not the same as getting an actual lead. Okay, cuz.
The light comment is shared that those are not leads. It’S good to get that engagement and that social proof, but it’s more of a vanity metric right. So we’ll click on traffic right here and then we’ll just call this demo Instagram story campaign. Okay, then we’ll click continue, And so this part now this is the ad set level. So the campaign is like. What’S your objective Like? What do you want to accomplish with this advertising campaign? So then, here at the ad set level.
This is where we’re going to choose the audience that you want to target So with male or female. What are their interests, all those different things, And then this is also actually where we’re going to tell Facebook that we want to Place our ad on Instagram and, more specifically, on the Instagram stories platform. Okay, So right here we could just say: Well give the name we’ll say Instagram or we’ll just say, IG story And then demo, Okay, so now we’ll come down here and As far as the the website, the traffic, you can just leave this, you don’t need to Mess with this over here on this audience Size, you can see how many people potentially are reached, how many people are estimated to be reached that day, How many link clicks, how many people are going to click to your website and all that which this is completely Just an estimation, this really Depends on how good your ads are your ad copy, how enticing it is to that audience that you’re targeting, But you can see this is 230 million, because we’re targeting everyone in the United States ages, 18 to 65.
Now, if you have a local business, This is really what you want to do and I work with a lot of local business owners. You want to come down here for locations Instead of everyone, this location, you want just people who live in this location. Okay, if you, if you have a restaurant or something like that, then you can do everyone in this location, But typically, if you’re, like a dentist, chiropractor real estate agent, loan officer, anything like that, You just want people who live in that location, because somebody’s just passing Through and visiting They’re not going to go to you right, so you want this.
People live in the location instead of the United States. You pick your exact city, so we can say Orlando Florida and then you can go through and see. Okay, I want a 25 mile radius or 1 a 5-mile radius or 10 mile, like you choose how Broad of an audience that you want to target So like. If you’re a restaurant, you probably want to go through, and The 10 mile radius is the smallest. But a lot of times people won’t drive 10 miles to go to a restaurant.
So what you can do is click right here and just Put current city only Okay, which Orlando is a fairly big city. So it’s got a 1 million people still, but it depends on what business you’re in if people are willing to go drive Like, for example, if you’re a real estate agent, You know 10 miles really. Is that far to go through and check out a new home in the area? And so you can go through and just change this out.
Instead of saying, current city will say: cities with a Will go 15 mile radius; Okay, So that upped it to 1.4 million right here and you can see the daily results, the reach and all that stuff right here Now coming down. Based on what your ideal target demographic is – and this is kind of like a general Video on Instagram story – That’s right! So I don’t know specifically what your your demographic is but think about who your ideal target customer would be Okay And then, based on that, you want to choose the age range that would Connect with those people.
Now one common misconception That I hear a lot is people think that older people are not on Instagram. Okay. Now that might have been a thing of the past, but nowadays There’s people of every age on Instagram. So really it doesn’t matter if you’re going up to 65 and the nice thing about Facebook’s advertising platform is The broader your audience. Okay, the less specifics that you give it. It actually works a lot better.
Okay! So the broader that you leave this. If you don’t go through and just go and like say hey, I only want people 25 to 30. It’S able to go through and identify who’s actually Converting, more or clicking on your ad and then by that it’s going to show it to more people That look just like that person that are very similar to that person, because they know The better results that you’re Getting with the Instagram advertising platform, The more money you’re going to continue to spend So, if you’re, making money and you’re having good success, You’re going to continue to spend and obviously that’s the way Facebook goes and makes their money Alright.
So now coming down here, You can choose the gender Languages detailed targeting now. This is something like if you’ve got a local business, I wouldn’t really mess with the detailed targeting I’d, leave it pretty Open-ended, because what Facebook does, as I mentioned a little bit earlier, they’re able to go through and identify the types of people who are already clicking On your ad and Then just tailor it to more people or send it to more people that are very some of they’ve got similar Behaviors interest likes all that stuff similar age group.
So I a lot of time likes to let’s leave this open and And and just I’ve seen a lot better results with that. But if you want to come in here and target different Behaviors or anything like that, like maybe you want target people that, like basketball right And you can see – okay enters basketball, national basketball association. So you click on that and then it drops it down to four hundred and seventy thousand people from the one point: four million Okay.
So then you go in here and if you wanted to exclude people like let’s say I don’t want anybody that likes baseball. Okay, you can go through and say hey. I want people that, like basketball, to live in Orlando, But they don’t like baseball right Like I, don’t know what business that would really pertain to, but you kind of get the idea and that you could also say. I want people that, like basketball and then narrow the audience and say I also want people that, like football Right there, So they like basketball, they like football, But they don’t like baseball, and you can see how this kids super Narrow super target right here of just Ten thousand people – and so that’s a very, very small demographic.
Okay. Now, obviously I don’t know a business you be in that you want to target basketball in football, but not baseball, But you kind of get the idea. You can go through and choose the interests. You can also say they must like this, and also this to kind of narrow that audience or you can even Exclude certain people So a lot of times. What I like to do is Tell my real estate agent. I work with these are going through and they’re setting their ad campaigns up.
They don’t want to necessarily show their ads to other real estate agents. So when they’re going through and setting things up, I tell them hey come in here, click exclude and then type in real estate agent, Okay and then you see real estate. Agent broker real estate agent directory. You can choose some of these and then so we’ll just say real estate agent. So so you kind of like exclude some of these people.
So now you can see it drops down Dramatically because you don’t want other agents or other people that are your competitors. Clicking on your ads Right just doesn’t make sense, They’re going to click it you’re going to pay for it, and then it’s not going to be an actual leaf for you, Okay, so now coming down here. This Is where get into the actual Instagram Stories portion of the training. Okay. So up until this point, It’s like whether you’re advertising on Facebook or Instagram, It’s pretty much the same now the placements right here Facebook says the automatic placements is recommended.
Now, what that means is it’s going to go through and show your ads on Facebook and the newsfeed, the right-hand column on facebook, Messenger on Instagram, newsfeed, Instagram stories? All these different platforms, which I don’t always recommend that depends on the advertising campaign you’re going through and creating. But if you want to go through and Specifically only show your ad on the Instagram stories platform, which is good to kind of know and understand that from the get-go, because if you look at these image specs and Even the article specs right here Like you – can Only have a 60 second article on your instrument of stories, Whereas on a Facebook newsfeed, you can have a much longer article Right and same thing with the image size like this is the image it’s going to cover up the whole phone.
That’S going to be very different than what the image is going to look like on a Facebook or mobile newsfeed, or even it within your Instagram newsfeed right. So that’s where I don’t always like to go with the recommended, Because your ad type and what the ad looks like is going to look a lot better. If you’re saying just the Instagram story, so we’ll come down here and we’ll click on edit placements and Then what we’ll do so we’ll actually just come over here and uncheck all of Facebook, Okay, we’ll uncheck all of audience Network and uncheck, messenger and we’ll just say The Instagram stories right here – Okay – and you can see a little bit of a View of like what this looks like.
If you want to see the the media requirements right here, we’ll just open that up in a new tab, and this is Pretty much the same. Details and specs that are on this page right here. Okay, so, like you can go find other things they like to talk about the specs, But I like to use the actual Facebook website, because they’re going to have the most up-to-date information, Because it changes from time to time right The Instagram advertising platform and how that All works So now coming down here.
We’Ve got the placements chosen Of the Instagram story ads and the device types You can just leave that you don’t need a mess around with that. You don’t need a mess with this and then coming down here We choose a budget Okay, so the budget is really based on your advertising budget. It’S not like, there’s a good better best or anything like that, But if you don’t have like a huge marketing budget, I would maybe start out with five dollars a day.
Okay or if you’ve got a little bit more money, you can go through jump up to ten dollars a day $ 20 day, Whatever it might be. But if you’re just kind of like getting your feet, wet five bucks a day, That’s 150 bucks per month. That’S really not a lot of money to go through and invest in advertising to get more exposure for your business. Okay, then Coming down here. This is a lot of advanced stuff that really you don’t need to get into as a beginning, Instagram advertiser or even Facebook advertiser.
So if we all just explain this really quick right here, see this optimization for ad delivery, so you can pay for link clicks, which means anytime. Somebody actually clicks on your ad to go to your website or You can say I want to pay for landing. Page views now the difference between these two is, let’s say: you’re on your mobile phone in a Rural area right where you don’t got a lot of great service, But you click on somebody’s ad and it starts loading the page, but you get frustrated It takes about Three to five seconds: You’re, like I’m done with this and you exit out, Will you just paid for that link click, but there was never a landing page view because they never saw your website.
So if you want to get more detailed analytics and know exactly everyone who not only clicks on the ad But actually the page loads – and they see your website, Then you want to go with landing page views now the impressions in daily unique reach. I never use these when I’m click doing it clicks to website campaign, So I would just completely forget those, but the link clicks or the landing page views.
Those are the differences and so you’re going to get a lot more link clicks for your budget at a lower cost, But the landing page views are going to be a lot higher quality. So a lot of times I like to just choose landing page views. So we’ll choose that and then we will just leave all this stuff. As is we don’t really need a mess with this, But you can see based on our budget based on the landing page views.
It gives you the estimated daily results the potential reach and we will hit continue. Okay, So now at this point, this is where we’re going to actually go through and create this story at all right And I’m going to show you guys some free tools that you can go through and use to be able to create really nice Professionally designed images. Even if you’re, not a designer, I’m not a designer, I’m a marketer, but I use this tool to go through and make really nice-looking images.
So For this one we’re just going to do a single image. Now you could do a article and, if you’re shooting the article make sure with your phone you’re, not shooting it like this, because everyone on Instagram is Looking through Instagram like this and so make sure your camera on your phone is vertical. Okay, so make sure it’s going like this, and so that your story is actually going to look good. It’S not going to be a little horizontal box.
Okay! So for this one We’re going to go through we’re going to choose the Facebook page where you can go through. If you don’t have your Instagram account Linked, you can just advertise from your Facebook page, but you can see right here. I’Ve got my Instagram account. Actually added on here so that it’ll be from my Instagram account So going down here, Like I said guys, we’ve got the single image single article, the carousel.
This could be like multiple articles or images, But just for this example we’re going to do the single image and the same thing would go for the single article But, like I said, shoot a horizontal or shoot it vertically, not horizontal So coming down. Here We need to choose an image to go through and upload right. So if we come back over here to the Instagram story, specs says the maximum image ratio is 9 by 16.
So you can see you want the image to be. You know just like fitting into your phone right here, So what I use is a tool called canva. Okay, so canv a.Com, It’s a hundred percent free, It’s easy to use. They there’s only like paid upgrades of like different images that you can use in there. But if you’re using your own images, It really doesn’t matter now the nice thing about canva, even for any other Facebook, advertising or social post, or anything that you’re doing and crating they’ve got all these pre-built Pixel Dimensions of all of these different posts, like a YouTube Thumbnail Facebook ad Facebook post You’ve got all these other ones like a facebook, app Documents, blogging ebooks marketing materials, social media, email headers.
Now, unfortunately, They don’t have one specific to Instagram stories. But what I like to do – And that’s why I use this page right here. So they’ve got 9 by 16 and 16 by 9 right here, Ok, So what I like to do is color here. So what come up here and click on use, custom, dimensions and then right here. This is where you can put the width and the height, which it’s saying 9 by 16. So what I’ll do a lot of times just go 900 by 1600? It’S! So it’s like a bigger image and I’ve got.
I can actually see what I’m working with Right and it’s a higher quality all that stuff. Then we just hit design and then look at this. It’S going to create a 9 by 16 Image. That looks just like your phone that you can go through and create right, so you can come in here. You can give it A background. You know like that. You can come in here, upload images, So like let’s say, we’ve got like the secrets, training or something like that.
You can make that black and then you can come in here. You know you just see how you can start adding stuff right, and So, if you want to go through and add text or whatever it is, You come in here. They’Ve got all these different text options where you can come in here and say: ok, I want you, know brunch or swipe now Or something like that. We’Re like, if you want to just, go through and use an image.
You can upload that – and this is one from my article that I shot yesterday, And so you can just go through and use that and get creative with how you want to do it. But remember as we go back and look at this other ad, I showed at the very beginning of this training. This is kind of the style You want it to be like very simple basic and then like 3 to 5 words, if you’re going to have words on it, to keep It simple and eye catching because remember people are going to be tapping through these stories fairly Quickly, And so you want to be able to capture their attention quickly and get straight to the point, All right, so jump back over here.
Let’S just go and download this. Let’S say this is what we want right there, Obviously or maybe we’ll come down here and we’ll say Swipe up Okay, so obviously this isn’t super compelling cuz, it’s just like I’m not telling what it is. It’S like secret swipe up boom, I’m like I’m like. Oh, I’m surprised right and so click download right here Download that it’s going to go through and download to our desktop and then from here.
We can just go over here and Upload. It I’ll just drag this to my desktop right there And we can upload it right here to see the images, so we’ve got right here, swipe up now the secrets and Then you just add a link to the website. So you can see right here. This is exactly what’s going to look like it’s going to have the timer up here at the top Swipe up, So see how this swipe up right there and to learn more.
You probably want to add the swipe up a little bit higher, because You can’t really see it because the learn more is right there. So I would probably like secrets swipe up and then that’s it. The nice thing is like that kind of does create a little bit of a curiosity of like okay, there’s secrets This guy’s. Looking like he’s like surprise, It’s telling me to swipe up. You might get people to swipe up, But the same time they’re – probably not going to be the highest quality of people swiping up to your website.
So now from here, let’s just say Google’s our website, You type in Google, you put in right there and Then you can say instead of it saying, learn more right here You can change the call to action Which that was what we were showing you a little Bit earlier on the supportive or the call to actions right here, You have all the different options. So we come in here, learn more contact us download get offer.
I usually like to learn more for pretty much everything, no matter what I’m using, I like to use, learn more So anyway, so this is basically it as far as the text goes. You don’t really need to add text. I would just leave the text in the image right here So now coming down here after this like as far as the overlay, you don’t really need to mess around. With that The face. Would peace of all this stuff, you were just ready to hit, confirm purchase.
You hit confirm and that’s it You’re done you’ve gone through. You craved your ads, So all this it confirm just to show you guys exactly what this looks like. So it says, confirm your item. Just may take a few seconds and then once it loads right here, I’m actually going to turn this off, because I don’t want it to actually run because it’s just a demo right, But we can go through and we can see the different analytics of how it’s Working as soon as this finishes publishing, So I’m going to actually turn this off, But you can see the campaign.
So this is the objective of we wanted to get the landing page views people to click to our website right And then we click on this. We can see the ads set, So these are the people that we were targeting. We have targeted five bucks per day. Okay And the schedule is it’s starting today and ongoing, and we can see kind of like the reach Impressions and you could even change up here. What you’re really like looking at right, I usually like to just leave it at the performance, the basic one, But then we can even click in here and see how each individual ad is performing.
So if we wanted to create another ad, just like this, with the same targeting same everything, We would just come in here and click on duplicate, And it would be the same campaign with the same targeting and we would just hit Duplicate and we could go through. And create another ad, So we wanted to test out a different image. Maybe move this image up, Maybe change the picture, maybe change the headline, the offering the call-to-action whatever it is.
We can go through and do that and then we just hit publish and Then that would create the next image right. So one thing you want to do is make sure that One thing I did not do, but you want to make sure that you name these different, so you can actually tell Which one is. What what so all you do is click on this little Edit pencil right here. So you could say v1, like so version 1, and Then you would say maybe something that would like to differentiate it from the next app and then we just hit publish and then this one we maybe name it just version 2.
And then, ideally, We want to say what differentiates it, which obviously I didn’t really differentiate anything right there, But we just hit, publish and that’s it guys. That is pretty much the basics of Instagram ad stories. So if you guys, like this article, go ahead, give it a thumbs up comment down below. How's your website? Need a new one? Are you looking for a PRO? Check out the video below:
Welcome to social matica in this tutorial, we’re going to be showing you how to set up a Twitter blog now, since most of you probably know how to setup a new service like Twitter, by entering your name, email and password and going through the signup process.
What we’re actually going to focus on is how to actually set up the blog inside of the application once you’ve already signed up. So I’m going to go ahead and log in and then show you my interface now before I jump too far into the Twitter application itself. Let me tell you a little bit about it. Twitter is mostly like texting only on the internet. It’S a real-time communication application. What most people use it for is to cede information or release information about themselves or use it as a public communication application to talk to their followers about real-time updates or status updates that they may be interested in in the main interface.
There are a couple of things that you should be interested in. First there’s, the timeline there’s at mentions retweets searches and lists, I’m going to describe them in detail. The timeline is just what it sounds like it’s. The public timeline of the tweets of the people that you follow, I happen to be following about 496 people, so every time they tweet something it’ll show up in my timeline mentions are when any Twitter user on Twitter mentions your name, and they can do so with The designation of the @ symbol, so you may see something like this.
That would mention me in a timeline. The next item is retweets. Retweets are designated with an RT and can be done so inside the application. I’Ll show you how to do that or by prepending. Any message with an RT if you prepend a message with our tea and mention someone, the assumption is: is that your retweeting their message, this functionality is built into twitter and i’ll. Show you how to do that in a second, but conceptually that’s how it works.
The searches function gives us a bility to search for a specific topic or trend or hashtag, and then save that search for future use. Lists are also interesting because it gives us the ability to segment users into a list. For instance, if I wanted to focus on marketing bloggers, then I could set up a list of people that only contained marketing bloggers. This helps me break down many trends within the overarching trend of what’s going on in twitter itself.
It also helps me build a list of people that maybe I want to influence, or that perhaps influenced me and so segmenting them. This way gives me an easy way to always stay up to date. On what they’re doing now, as I said before, I will show you how to retweet and create mentions within the application. So, for instance, let’s find something that’s somewhat interesting check out this awesome lineup at word of mouth marketing association event in Las Vegas.
Now I can favorite this or I can retweet it or I can reply now we’re a reply will automatically mention somebody just so you know, but it’s not the only way I have to be able to do it. So Ekaterina is somebody that I know so I can retweet this just simply by going click. Retweet, okay and it’ll. Ask me if I want to retweet to my followers and I can click retweet now in some applications. I can actually edit this retweet before it goes out, but in this case I’m just going to go ahead and retweet it like that.
I can actually also just reply or mention Ekaterina by hitting reply. My tweet Ekaterina has been sent a couple of other things to think about from your overall network perspective. As a couple rules, one rule within Twitter. You can’t follow more than 2,000 people unless you have 2,000 people following you. This has created the this rule was created as a result of the follow me strategy, which essentially creates the idea of following people repetitively to get them to follow you it’s a way to game the Twitter tool.
If you see people following you consistently and unfollowing you and then following you back they’re trying to game up their actual followers, so this is the number of people that you’re following this is the number of people that are following you. This is the number of tweaks that you’ve actually sent out. These are some of the statistics that Twitter uses to assign your rank within Twitter and then some other applications outside of Twitter will use to assign your rank or your relative influence.
Let’S look at our specific profile, so we can actually set it up here. You see my account information. You can actually protect your tweets so that only people who you approve can actually follow your tweets. You would use this in some cases where you wanted to use twitter for more private means. I suggest that you always use HTTPS. You can add a location to your tweets and this is helpful for certain applications.
You can change your password. You can enable your mobile phone to do Twitter with text messaging. Can change your notification settings. You can update your profile with a different picture where you’re located in your website. You can add a bio which only allows you 160 characters, and then you can automatically post your tweets to facebook. Twitter allows you to select a theme or create different background images, and you can also tell Twitter what applications it has access to and manage that here.
All of these applications do something in or through the use of Twitter information, and so, if you ever want to revoke access, this is where you would do that you always grant access to these applications inside the application themselves. That is, cloud com was granted access to twitter from cloud you don’t grant access to twitter from twitter, it’s always from the application of origin. You can revoke access and twitter though, and that’s twitter, pretty simple, a couple of other things to keep in mind.
Hashtags. Think of hashtags like ideas, and they give people in twitter the ability to trend an idea. So if my idea was pancakes, then the number of people that tweeted pancakes as a hashtag would influence how much that hashtag trended. You can, of course subscribe to the hashtag. So that you can see the conversations that occur around pancakes, I hope that was helpful. Thank you for listening visit, socialmatic accom, to learn more.
So here we go so. First of all, I just want to apologize to the people that created the just paste it link or page. There was a bit of a miscommunication on my part when they had actually sent the link. I thought that they had actually found the page when in reality they were the ones that created it so whoops, my bad since then they have updated the page and keep adding more things to it as more things come out for ready or not.
Thanks for the stellar work, guys keep it up almost meeting since there hasn’t been a whole lot going on, but on today’s agenda, we’re going to be starting with Instagram savvy viewers will notice that there is a brand new image and said image is named rescue in All caps so really rescue. What do we see on training? Obviously it doesn’t look like the Sun is out, but the reflections on the SWAT officer may say otherwise, but then again it could also be some lights or lightning.
I really don’t know because the picture doesn’t show the other side on the right side of the image. There seems to be a structure that seems to be under construction, because that looks like a lot of scaffolding. Could this be a homage to the old granite hotel? Now from SWAT for you, one go ahead: new one SWAT is needed for hostage rescue commander to zero atom requests to respond to staging area at 1700.
West Seventh Avenue by noon. Individuals with respective military ties have abducted at least two hostages at the old granite hotel suspects have been in contact with local news media and issued demands for twelve million dollars in red u1. Roger show us in route ETA driving time, okay, men, this one’s a zoo and it isn’t going to get any better. The self-declared militia group America now has taken real estate, heir James Betancourt, jr and lawrence adams, his general contractor hostage.
Apparently, they were touring a current project, the old granite hotel and were taken while inspecting adams work. Now the suspects are holed up on the top two floors of the hotel, demanding 12 million dollars ransom by midnight. They claim that Betancourt investments owes this as a down payment on their debt to the ax men and people. America now is a small but active domestic militia group. They are fiercely isolationist opposing immigration, free trade and foreign owned interests.
Most of their previous actions have been against foreign owned properties, either sabotaging them in the building stage or engaging in serious vandalism, making the properties too expensive to maintain this is their first kidnapping and it may indicate a shift in the group’s tactics given the public nature Of the incident, the group is clearly looking for publicity as well. We’Ve spoken with the media and received some cooperation.
However, it’s not clear how long that will last expect the America now suspects to be well equipped and to act as a group, but they’re inexperienced with hostages may make them even more dangerous to the civilians. Take extra care now on to the victims. James Betancourt jr. Is the son of the CEO and majority owner of Betancourt investments, a French based property development company six months ago.
They purchased the granite out of bankruptcy for 12 million dollars and have been renovating it ever since jr. Has been in charge of the renovations and was doing an inspection of the renovation work when he was captured. Lawrence adams is the general contractor and the architect in charge of doing the renovation work. The suspects are on the top two floors of the hotel. The sixth and the seventh you’ll find the blueprints on the board.
We’Ve cut power to the elevators and one of them is trapped between the fifth and sixth floor. You can either go up the stairs or down the elevator shaft. Recent gunshots were reported coming from the seventh floor, so it’s time to go in mmm. I don’t know it could be, or I could be overthinking things as I usually do, but it seems interesting either way. Moving on underneath the structure, we have what looks like some type of box, which I believe is a shipping crate.
But I can’t really say for sure I mean at first. I thought that it could be one of those nets that keep people away from construction areas, because it does kind of look like it’s attached to the building, but then again that would be one giant caution. Tape, if I ever done seen one the caution. Tape could also support the construction building theory, in my opinion, why? Because, usually, when you see tape like that at a crime scene or like a you know a police thing, it doesn’t say caution, it says police zone or whatever up.
Next, we are finally going to look at the SWAT officer. He appears to be carrying someone which I believe is a civilian more than likely. If we turn up the brightness on his back, it says HRT what is HRT it. Could it be a patch a part of the customization or I did a google search and it reveals that HRT stands for hostage rescue team? The hostage rescue team is the elite tactical unit of the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation.
My friend is very interesting. Could this mean that they are in the game? I don’t know I remember them talking about joint operations in the AMA on the reddit, but I don’t recall if the HRT was mentioned in any conversations, so I found this photo very interesting and I got a lot out of it actually a lot more than I Thought I was going to, but literally the day after they posted a new picture which is called.
Who are you? The picture itself shows a bunch of people standing in line and they are basically wearing the same uniforms. A couple of them look different, I’m not sure what they’re wearing, I believe the helmet is called an ops Corps. He Boeing, my Dischord were saying stuff like condor gunner carriers. They were saying that the mice could also be a belter, AARC said or liberator two series. Headsets, so I’m not sure, what’s all in this picture, anybody in the comments want to drop down there and be like hey.
I know I know what everything is the uncle do-rag know. I think the thing that really bothers me what this fiction is like. What does it mean by saying who are you? Is that, like some kind of code like who are you who are we and then they started chanting about something we are police we serve and protect? I don’t know what this could mean. Who are you? Who are you we are Swan? Who are you? I think another thing that really has me raising a lot of questions is: why are they standing in a line like this? Is it like one of those things where they’re like at a protest or something and like they have like the shields up and and they’re standing on the line? Is that what this is like this? What do that? I don’t know this is a very curious picture.
I’M just like looking out all the hashtags that they have and it says, ready or not: PC games, Floyd, Interactive, SWAT police, tactical lineup, tactical lineup. That sounds interesting. Gun 3d. Real-Time screen caps, special police. I’M trying to think what police force lines up like this. Is it just swiped like I don’t know, but I’m curious to look up. Look it up, but I’m like what even I’m just going to continue reading cuz.
I didn’t find much. You need the boys. I’Ve scored tactical shooter insurgency. Damn did they like. I came to raid the raid. Could that be a name of the map or the mission black and white, I’m not sure what that could possibly mean. Maybe, like the lighting no well, then, is only really have to say about this picture, but it is very curious if anybody else has something to say it. Let me know in the comments below I’m cutting into my own recording by doing this, but later on on reddit.
Somebody had posted about this, and somebody in the comments was pointing out that they’re all different look at the curvature of the nose. The first guy has a Roman nose. The second guy has an upturned concave nose, there’s a black guy or a Hispanic down the line, showcasing the skinhead models and Gunther replies with. We wouldn’t show off clones. That’S for sure, okay. So a little bit more context into this.
I guess you know these pictures were posted back-to-back in two days. Will they post another one, it’s kind of record-breaking? No, I think about it. I don’t think they’ve ever been posted, like a picture like back-to-back like that. Alright. Well, I think I’m done with Instagram for today we’re going to be pushing on over to Reddit the wealth of information. That’S just my favorite, oh yeah, Oh we’ll get some pretty good questions and not you know memes as much as much as I do like the memes.
We’Re going to be starting with question easy, normal hard. Well, there’d be very little of difficulty now. I know this game will not be a casual game and I am much more interested because of that. I’M not a garbage FPS player. I play CS, but I’m just wondering if you can make a game harder or easy ish or just want feedback. If anyone knows thanks and the developer applies with currently, there is only one difficulty but we’re looking at possibly two core difficulties, but we prefer to leave it at most of the shift in difficulty comes from the missions as they progress, interesting, alright, moving on question.
Well, tasers always work because they don’t always in real life, see article. He shows off like a bunch of articles of people that are getting tased and actually falling down, but I believe there are certain people. If you do specific things with your body, then you can actually prevent yourself from getting tased, but I don’t remember how that actually works. I think he explains best in the article.
Somebody actually explains in the comment section here: taser technology is designed to hijack the nervous system, thus affecting the muscularity system, so it works on about 90 % of people, for example, the fatter, the person, the less effective, usually the farther the spread of probes, the more Effective on Monday tenant hit me with X 26. The lower probe went sideways on discharge and didn’t drop me, but gave a hell of a lot of pain and pain compliance.
It happens, but I’m not sure how super realistic they want to get. I mean a good chunk of people also crap their pants too, but I don’t see them adding that feature and the developer applies with definitely true we’re looking at maybe adjusting it based on if their user is overweight or on drugs, but we’re not going to alter Its overall effectiveness, since that would make players, choose the item much much less.
Somebody replies to him saying I know it’s late, but isn’t this kind of the point I mean I’m pretty sure tasers aren’t deployed all that, often by SWAT teams, unless there is an opening where officers can cover the officers deploying the Taser, because it might very well Not work because you have an out short, hey officer, gives you an auditory cue that they are covering you to deploy only possibly effective, less than lethal items and guts or replies to that saying.
The Taser replaces your sidearm if it was largely ineffective, it wouldn’t be very enjoyable to use. If it’s going to be innovative, you know before you deploy. Basically, it’s highly unlikely SWAT would deploy a Taser mid raid, but we’re building a game not a better simulator later on. In the comments section someone says, oh, you just reminded me: the ballistic plate carriers. Officers, use typically have a lining in them that renders the Taser essentially useless, for instance, if someone’s stolen officers taser, and they tried to use it on the officer, not sure what you guys have planned, especially for PvP, but thought that it’s worth mentioning and Gunther replies To that saying, there is a possibility, no or even could picking a Taser if we balance all the default gear against it, we’re all for realism, but sometimes you just have to make concessions so that gameplay is fun and responsive.
I totally agree. You know at one point: do you have to make it into a game? It’D have realism kind of just. You know fuck off. That was a lot of interesting stuff. So, let’s push on to the next one now, so the next post is talking about how they want to put a new picture, for, I guess reddit, like they’re, trying to like do a bit of a contest here and günther just says. Maybe maybe competition sounds fun.
I can’t guarantee annual rewards for anything, though that’s interesting, it’s always cool to have fun with the community every now and then I guess we’ll push on to the next one up. Next, we have. How will the replay value be considering this will be a single-player focused game? Will the enemy and other npc amount, behavior and location vary a lot. I like to SWAT 3 4 how you had to always be on your toes every room area, no matter how many times you played the map.
Also, the amount of suspects would ideally slightly vary. So that I can’t go only one bad guy left and the developer replies with that’s the plan, all right. Let’S move on to the next one, hi guys. It’S sorry it took a while, but my other account got suspended, and so I made a new account to share my next version of the R on sub icon. Why did it get suspended? So somebody in the comment section was basically asking for a deadline and when they want to, you know end this contest and günther simply replies with currently, I’m Way too busy to focus on a contest, maybe in a week or two when things are balls to the Walls we gone to the next.
We have steam community items, not sure if this has been mentioned asked yet, but will there be steam trading cards, backgrounds, emotes, etc, and the developer replies with yeah that’d be a good way to show off the artwork cool, where’s Gunther and the developer replies with busy Making a game you might have heard of it. I read every post though much love baby and that’s it for the serious section.
Let’S move on to the me up: next, we have it’s. Finally, there a trailer for the fingernail paint and dye hair. It’S actually funny the developer replies with Vogue DLC when this freakin article is hilarious. This is 10 out of 10 10 out of 10, no nice we have well. We have seasonal operators, got plans hard to add pepper and salt operators. First then, the Thiemann Bassel operators. Finally, following up with the dried mustard and paprika operators in queue for somebody replies but you’re just going to ignore the cinnamon like that doctor replies with big cinnamon has a stranglehold on the spice market.
It deserves no recognition. Goddamn it dude dude. These devs devs jokes are 10 out of 10 tonight and deaf jokes and end to the meme saga. Gunther developer hands over. So I guess there was like a whole meme going on about a gun that was being mentioned in the game like even in my desk or if people would come in and fucking ask for it, and it’s like what the fuck am I going to do. Not a dev, I’m looking at the ready or not discord like, I would see a shit ton of like reddit posts about the same goddamn gun I’m just like, and the developer replies with.
You will bow and that’s all we have for this article. I hope you enjoyed naigus. I will catch you in the next one. Bye, bye,
Let’S jump in. I hear a lot from different businesses that Twitter is dead. It’S irrelevant! Why? Why should we be on Twitter? Give me what are some Pros to using Twitter, So I hear that all the time too, and it’s absolutely not the case – It’s on the rise popularity is growing and Twitter is really Unique in that, the real time that it embraces is What makes it so special So should all businesses Use Twitter or should some Are there certain use cases where you probably should avoid it? I’M a big fan, I’m a huge advocate of using all three Platforms, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram because they Work better together, Okay, But the thing about Twitter is and some view this as a Con is the algorithm So you’re not going to just see things in a chronological order.
Okay, So to keep your content Actually, coming up and being found, you wan na make sure that you have quality Content, not quantity, You don’t need to be Tweeting on steroids, Mass, producing content right. You wan na make sure that you’re giving something of value to your audience. What’S kind of the first Steps once I sign up What should I really look at So first steps. You definitely wan na start following like-minded users, Okay, And that can also help you to get in front of their followers, which will give you a really organic presence And then also go and engage.
With other users on Twitter, You know go and click retweet on something that makes sense to your business. That would also be of Value to your followers, So what about my profile? I know there’s some things that I should probably do just To make sure it’s consistent, What does that look like With your profile, you wan na Make sure that you have usually do you have a logo Yeah Yeah, so you wan na put Your logo out on your Twitter and definitely make sure Your handle is consistent, So that’s a at symbol and then the name of your business preferably Make sure that’s consistent across Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
‘Cause. After all, you’re Branding yourself Right And then from there you Have a little bio description right beneath the photo and your handle Cool. So one of my just absolute favorite topics ever are hashtags Hashtag. I did it all. For the cookies right Tell us about kind of the Best practices using hashtags Like should we just go On a hashtag tangent, are there best practices What should we avoid? Give us a low down? Yes, so definitely real it in don’t need to go hashtag crazy, Okay, But I also love hashtags.
It’S a great way to get more exposure, They’re free to use, and it can help you to be found by someone who Doesn’T even know you exist Also, including an actual Caption that you’re writing it’s one of my favorite things to do when I’m traveling the country – And let’s say I did this Seminar right on social media – and I got a cool picture me – At the microphone feeling [ Justin ], I can see it now Feeling pretty cool at a trade show, and so I wan na, like get That out to my audience – and I caption it like “ Having a blast sharing # socialmediatips.
”. So then, it’s in my caption and then now, if anyone’s searching in the area or social media tips in general, [, Justin ] Right, I have a chance to be discovered, Seems more natural, Right than just having it at the very end make it Part of the conversation Exactly make it part of the caption, But do both by all means. Okay, You can get real localized with it. [ Justin, ], Really Yeah. So when I travel Like, for example, I was in Austin recently, I just wanted to know where’s a good place to Eat or get a craft beer, You know it’s a big thing in Austin, So I would just search # austineats and from there I found Out what tourists locals where they were going to get food and then that helped me make my buying decision So think about it as a Small business owner: how does this relate to you? Well, consumers are out There searching hashtags Right When they’re looking For a product, a service, a cup of Joe And then so, if you have these hashtags on your Posts you’re more likely to be found when someone’s Searching coffee, Perfect and what I would say, To you, when searching that joining in on the conversation With those hashtags that are relevant to what you’re searching and that’s what’s more Important about Twitter right Is talking to people and being social, social media for a reason, Yeah exactly it’s a two way street.
That’S the beauty of it Right, You’re, not just talking At your customers, anymore, you’re engaging with Them it’s a conversation and, at the end of the day, that’s what’s going to make your presence more powerful. If you have This two way conversation Right on. I dig it So next up, we have Really paid advertising.’Cause. I know I’ve seen Some paid promotions on Twitter every now and then Is there any relevance to that.
Should we test it out? What are your thoughts, I always say, start small and be sure you’re paying attention to the metrics, Otherwise you’re just blindly Spending money right At the end of the Month, you’re like wait: where did my money go? You’Re like well Yeah, so just start small, So Emma so we’re Tweeting a lot we’re searching hashtags we’re using hashtags. How do we know if what we’re doing is Working and relevant Is there any place to go in And check what we’re doing There absolutely is a way to track Twitter.
Has this account dashboard that you can actually see even what time of day people are looking at your Tweets, which could really be informative? You know I used to work at a coffee shop and what we found is there Was certain times of the day that made sense to Tweet To get people to come in Right, Coffee, early risers, You can Tweet something at 5Am about what you have on what your drip coffee is or Your special foam on your lattes and that made sense you know And then so thinking About the time of day, looking at your Twitter Analytics to see what works best Yeah, But also the top Tweet Is really informative? What do yo mean by that? Like the Tweet, that Got the most impression, the most engagement, That’s going to help inform the Next Tweet and your strategy – Okay, Oh also the retweet.
If I’m getting a lot, Of retweets from users I know, oh they liked that you know They wan na tell their friends Yeah like I should include more photos of me skateboarding That got way more retweets and then that informs my next Tweet. So there’s two different Types of retweets, if you will There’s retweet and there’s a quote: Tweet Yeah. So while it’s fast and efficient to simply click retweet, You know back to the million Things you were doing Right.
We found it to be more beneficial. To quote, add your own caption.’Cause, then you’re, adding Your personal flair to it and you’re really explaining the relevance of that Tweet too. Why are you retweeting it Sometimes. I feel like I’m Spending all day on Twitter Is there a way for me. To not have to do that Like can. I just go and Do it just once a day’cause I have scheduled Things help me out here: I don’t wan na spend all Day on social media, I’ve got a business to run Absolutely so there Are ways to outsource [ Justin, ]? Okay, If you don’t wan na, do this Godaddy Social (, laughs, ): There are teams that can Take this off your plate, but if it’s something You wan na do on your own.
You wan na be beneficial with your time, So I strongly strongly Encourage a content calendar Okay! What’S that That what you get a Calendar a blank calendar, and you just plan out couple days of week that you wan na Tweet and Do it months in advance, so then you don’t miss piggy. Backing off of a holiday, Even unofficial, holidays, Like national hotdog day, There’s literally a random Holiday for every day, Yeah, and not all of them, are going to make sense to your business Right.
But if they do you Can really piggy back off of that with Twitter, but the Content calendar is going to be key to help you plan out in advance, So you’re not rushing And scrambling, like I haven’t, been on Twitter for a few days. I just need to go out there and Tweet. No One tool that I found. That is, pretty cool is Tweet Deck. Have you checked that out? No, I haven’t So Tweet Deck. Actually, let’s you it’s inside of Twitter Itself, but it let’s, you schedule out your own Tweets.
So that you don’t have to have to go in every day and post, You can literally take some Time or chunk out of your Monday and schedule out your content calendar, and it will just spin it for you, Yeah and I would just be Cautious with that, though, because while that’s Maybe a good way for you to manage your time. Rather, you wan na make sure that those times of day are Working for your consumers,.
‘Cause, that’s the key! You Want your Tweet to connect with your consumer at The most optimal time All right, thank you so much Emma. This has jut been a blast. I’M going to invest in Twitter now, Like it’s changed my life, so thank you. Hashtag life changing Hashtag life, changing (, laughs, ), Awesome! Well! Thank you. All so much for reading This has been The Journey. Make sure you, like Subscribe comment below, Let us know your thoughts and let us know what you wan na see next And thank you for reading.
Is Twitter the only thing you need?
I don't think so! There are a ton of opportunities for you in the digital world. The best bet is to hire a pro.
The Hilton just keep going just keep rolling it. Yeah 45 zero. So I do totally sell products on Amazon, William here somebody else just showed up. It’S just starting any minute. Now stay late, just talking a little bit about what everybody does he’s, selling used books he’s doing away. We do private label he’s getting started. What about yourself wholesale nice? Do we do yeah nine ninety percent? Eighty five to ninety percent of our sales are wholesale private label yeah, so we do about two million a year and private label and the margins are much healthier yeah, even with all the or even with all the products we’ve created, even with that yeah like altogether.
It’S healthier seven years ago, so Sebastian, who I’m sure you guys have seen on Instagram as well. Sebastian started selling products in his basement about seven years ago, and then I joined on about five years ago, and it’s just been ever since then. It’S just been taken off yeah like everybody’s. How do I get started? How do I get started? Get started, that’s how you get started. You know because if you so many people like yourself, I’m sure you probably like you said you spent what two months researching products, but you still haven’t sold anything you could already been to five Marshalls and at least bought some nike socks or or maybe not Nike.
You’Ve, probably gated, but you know some some polo shirts or something to sell. You know just something: to get the hang of shipping and reimbursements and refunds and and referral fees and pick and pack fees and something it’ll teach you a lot yeah putting in a shipment. You know creating a SKU reading, keep a charts like all that stuff. If you don’t get started, you’re, never going to figure that out.
So it’s going to make your first product when you buy that product, even more challenging to be successful in because you’ll have no Amazon experience. I think the first employee you need is an in-house employee, really yeah. You need someone to take care of your inventory. You should be stickering products. You said you did what, over over six figures. Last year, yeah you shouldn’t be sticking yeah freestyling, you did tool, you did quarter mil freestyling, you shouldn’t be snickering products, man, it shouldn’t be sticker products.
That’S a tough question. You know, because, honestly, from my own experience, I wouldn’t change a thing you know, because if everything I did got me like right here sitting with you know nine resellers in the middle of Houston so like I did something right right, but what I would say, like My best advice is to be you know, don’t let fear you know take over because, like fear, the fear of financial and security fear of success, fear of failure – you know, fear of not being enough that stuff will eat you up inside, like enough to where you Can’T even sleep at night, fear of getting your Amazon account shut down.
Do not let that fear take over. That fear will keep you so many steps back instead of moving forward. You know and the best way for me to get rid of that fears. I thought, like you know a morning ritual I’m real centered in like in spirituality and meditation, but that’s not the only way that I use. I use it by talking about it with other people. You know like if I’m fearful about something like hey Sebastian man.
I can’t stop thinking about this. Like I talked to someone about it, you know and all the sudden that fears cut in half you know I forget to saying, but like it’s like sadness, shared is uh, I’m going to it up. I don’t even I don’t know like a joy share, it is doubled and and and sadness, share or fear. Shared is cut in half something along those lines, but it makes perfect sense. Right leaves, you share joy with someone, it’s double because now they’re happy you’re happy you share a fear or sadness with someone it alleviates some of that sadness.
So it’s cut in half, but for our own products we think Amazon advertising is bang first buck. We spend 10,000 dollars a month on advertising. It generates over $ 120,000 in sales. So it gives you all the statistics on you, yeah yeah. It gives you breakdown of graphs and charts and Excel files of keywords, and then you move those keywords from the automatic campaign to the manual campaign and then there’s even additional services.
You could pay for to actually manage those campaigns for a couple hundred dollars a month. So it’s a game engine for you, yeah yeah, but we also do. We also do twenty two million dollars in sales. So it’s a ratio, so we sell a hundred and ten thousand orders a month. So 17 is really not that many. You know, even though it’s close, I’m sure if they have a limit, it’s it’s close to what that limit is yeah, 19 percent.
Actually, we got a little concern to drop to 15 for, like three or four days the other day I couldn’t figure out why, whenever change big, like that happens on our Amazon account, I want to know like if by percentage drops to 15 percent, I want to Know why? Yes? Yes, I look at I look at our excess inventory or non-competitive inventory wirele skews not moving, you know and then I’ll go through literally our price or sorts it by excess and non-competitive and I’ll look at all 300 products in each category and literally spend the entire Day, looking at every single product fixing pricing adjusting pricing dropping floor price raising ceiling price.
No, we don’t have an app, but we built our repressor that has like restocking options in it and we were just talking about it earlier something we’re going to be dropping as a system as a service, so it will be available for a yeah yeah. So this will have a full-fledged ERP system, which essentially that’s that’s what that is. It’S managing your finances. Basically, your item cost. It also has reordering metrics and it has real pricing capabilities.
It’S all algorithmic based as well yeah. No, I I’m sure, I’m a firm believer. I I think inventory lab created a beautiful software. That’S helped a lot of people sell on Amazon, but I disagree with the the system as a service because it takes people off of Amazon. A lot of people don’t even know how to navigate Amazon, how to create a listing on Amazon because they’re just so used to using inventory lab.
You know it’s like alright. Now, let’s create this listing on Amazon it’s like, but I don’t know how it’s like. Well, you mean you, don’t know how I’ve been using inventory lab for for the past nine months. You know two years it takes the Amazon out of FBA, so we don’t use inventory lab so like the first rung in the value ladder. It’S like all of the free stuff. We provide right, like all the free information we give away on Instagram YouTube Facebook, LinkedIn tick-tock, like all that free information, that’s the first rung in the value ladder and then included in that first rung or like these meetups that we do right.
Nobody pays anything. It’S just all like: let’s hang out, let’s talk, let’s get to know each other. Let’S talk about what you do for business. Let’S talk about what you do, let’s learn from each other, let’s gain knowledge and continue to grow right and then usually for most people. The second rung is, like close friends, has anybody here been in close friends? No, so okay? So none of you have been in close friends right, but some of you pass that first rung and jumped right into the second rung, which is like a personalized one-on-one mentoring session.
Right, like will – and I did one yesterday – we sat down for an hour and a half and just talked to Amazon, two and a half two and a half. So two and a half hours right and we just talked Amazon and then like the next rung. In that value, ladder would be like a four week or an eight week, mentoring session, which right now Corinne, and I were what two sessions in and we’re going heavy and, like you know in it, and it’s like value-driven.
You know we spend the time and then like another rung would be like the tradeshow walkthrough or another run would be like a warehouse, optimization visit where we actually fly out to your warehouse, organize it the way to streamline your efficiencies. So essentially, it looks like a Ford production line where we’re lining everything up and setting up a warehouse, because we’ve set up many warehouses and we know what to do and what not to do you know and then that top tier of the rung is like our Mastermind right, where it’s like a yearly fee and we meet in a different country once a year we have a meeting at our warehouse.
We show you how we operate right and, like so people come in at different rungs, but like this first rung for me, it’s the most important rung. You know because it lets you know like this is what we do for a living. You know I sell on Amazon for a living and I help people sell on Amazon as a side business. You know, and I do it because it helps me put my head on the pillow rest easier, a little a little bit at night.
Knowing that, like, I helped you solve a problem today or I help you increase your profits or I helped you grow your revenue. You know what makes me happy knowing that you’re able to provide for your families and, like rest, your head easier at night, with the value that we give you. You know so like that’s. Why we host these free meetups and that’s why it frustrates me when I hear stories like the one you’re telling me where people aren’t providing that value, you know people aren’t providing that content because it’s like I’m a value driven integrity, driven man.
You know it’s like my mission in life is to help as many people as possible grow successful businesses, and I don’t care what I got to do to do it. You know if someone pays for an hour and a half session like this guy will and we sit there for two and a half hours and talk like then that’s what I’m going to do. You know and it’s like it’s important to me. You know all levels. All levels I’ve worked with people who’ve, never sold a product on Amazon like this guy he’s, never sold a product on Amazon, but he’s interested in what we do.
You know, and then I’ve worked with people who do you know close to two million dollars a month. Today I mean you said you had a guy who is doing a quarter million. Now he’s sown five hundred a month: yeah Ryan Ryan. Oh, you got Ryan six months ago, used to one a quarter million a month, and now, since we started working with only hire five employees he’s pumping out by a half million dollars a month we doubled his business and for a year that’s a wrap.
