How do I do that? I have a fresh Manjaro installation and we’re going to go for the process of configuring, the system and installing all necessary packages making sure it works good and then installing all the software that you might need for a music production, all the doors or the plugins.
And that sort of thing, and I’m going to show you where to get this and how to install it, how to later update it, etc. So you’ve just logged in for the first time into your new system and there’s a few things I want to do. The first thing might be a little bit strange to you, but the first thing I ever do is configure backups. So let’s open a program called time shift. Now it’s not installed, so we have to install time shift now.
Something I really like about Manjaro is that it has a drop-down terminal installed by default. So if you just press f12, you get this terminal, you can press shift, +, alt, +, arrow keys, right, arrow, key and down arrow key to make it bigger, and I usually like to have it much bigger. We can also make the font bigger if we just use ctrl + my mouse wheel, and this is going to be much easier to to follow.
I hope alrighty. So we need to install time shift, but first we need to update our package list so pac-man, which is the package manager s and Y. This will go into in update all the package information but of course we need to use sudo so sudo and I can now type exclamation points and that’s going to execute the previous command with prefix. So that’s going to execute pseudo pac-man s. Why? Now? I’m going to type in my temporary password, which is one two three four and let’s let it run and everything is up to date great now we can install time shift so I’m going to go sudo pac-man s, time shift.
This is going to install a package called time shift and all its dependencies proceed with installation. I just press ENTER and it’s default. Yes, it’s going to download some packages and time shift is installed. Now I can press f12 to hide the terminal. We can also close this hello dialogue. Now I can open my main menu and type time, and you see there is time shift a system restore utility. Now we have to choose the file system, we’re going to store the backups on. We have one file system present in this in this laptop, it’s the main file system. So we don’t have to do anything now. We can configure a snapshot schedule by default. Time shift is going to do five daily backups, I’m going to disable that, because I want to be using time shift only to do manual snapshots when before upgrading my system, let’s go next this, let’s leave this enabled, and now we can include the user home directory.
What this means is everything in our home user directory will also be included in the snapshot. That means our documents. I want to use time shift only to store the system state, so I’m going to leave this off, but if you want to also include your documents, projects and everything, you can click this and it will back up everything, let’s press next and the setup is complete. What you got to do is just click create now on btrfs. This takes no time at all. If you want to delete a snapshot, just use this delete button. Let’s get going now, I want to make sure octopi is installed and you can see it is, but in some previous versions of Manjaro it was not installed by default. So if you would like to install octopi, you would go to your terminal window and we can clear it and you can type sudo pac-man s. Octo P, give it your administration password, and indeed there is an update to be installed for that program. Let’s go ahead and do that all right.
What actually we want to do is update the system in its entirety, so I’m going to clear it the terminal and I’m going to run sudo pac-man, big s, small Y and small. No on arch based Linux distributions, like Manjaro, you are always on the bleeding edge, so you often will be required to update all your system packages now there is not much to update, because I have actually updated it during installation.
Another tool we’re going to need to install extra software is called yay yay, and it’s going to give us access to so called arch user repository, which is a collection of user created. Pk builds. These are scripts that get sources or binary packages from the internet and either build these sources or build packages from the binary files and install them to your system. There is pretty much everything you could ever imagine or want in the arch user repository, so we’re going to need that for some really bleeding-edge versions of our software or plugins that are not in the usual repositories.
So let’s go sudo pac-man s yay! Now you can see that I already had ya installed and that’s because I have chosen to have it installed during installation when I used Manjaro architect. But if you do a regular installation for the graphical installation program, you’re not going to have that option. So you will need to install yourself. The next thing we need to take care of is the jack on your server.
It’s pretty much the workhorse that’s going to hold all our audio work together. So, let’s just see if we have Jack installed, let’s go which Jack D and you can see we have Jack installed, but we want to make sure it’s the correct version. So I’m going to just make sure that Jack two is installed. I don’t use Jack one because Jack one is not multi-threaded and modern computers have at least two cores.
So it’s a shame not to use them for your DSP. From what I see here, Jack one doesn’t have any cool features at all: let’s go sudo pac-man s Jack and now you can see we have jacked installed so by default. Manjaro has supplied it with Jack 1, but we want Jack to do you want to remove Jack. I do so. We want to replace Jack 1 with Jack. Yes now. This is a very important step because if I have gone and installed other software depending on the jack replacing that package later would be quite problematic, because I would have to uninstall all the software that needs Jack audio server.
Then I could remove the jack 1 a package and then install Jack, and I would have to reinstall again all the software installed. On top of that now we are sure we are running Jack, so we can go ahead and install other things and the other thing I’m going to install is cadence sudu pac-man s. Cadence cadence is basically a control panel for production, audio work. Okay, we have cadence installed, let’s hide our terminal and let’s find it cadets.
Yes, it’s a jack toolbox, let’s open cadence and we can see. We have a yellow sign here, which says we have a non real-time kernel and with the user is an audio group. 4 point 18 1, which is a long time supported kernel, it’s installed and it’s running, but there is a newer kernel, but there is a different kernel and it’s a real-time kernel. So a real-time kernel might give us better performance for Jack audio server. However, I have not found a significant change difference in my workload, but if we were to install it, we will just click here. Click yes give our password and we can show details and it’s going to download all the packages and install the real-time kernel for us, of course, to use this new kernel, we need to reboot our machine and you can verify what kernel are you running either by Opening this Manjaro kernel manager, or by opening a terminal hit f12 for example, and type a command called, you name a, and this tells us we’re running Linux.
This is the name of the computer, and this is the version of the kernel. This is a pre-emptive kernel, so it allows real-time scheduling, but it’s not like super full support and our new kernel is installed. You can see it’s now installed. Now we have to give our password. One thing I don’t like about yeh is that it can timeout with the password. I need to install it again. Thankfully, it caches the results. So it’s not a big problem and we have the infusion installed.

We can install the binary version, it’s going to be faster because it’s not going to have to compile everything. So if you read the output, you can see that it’s downloaded a debian package right here. It’s extracted it and it’s created an arch package from that. Now it’s compressing this package, so it can be installed. So arch user repository is using various means to pull in different software, so it can be installed on Arch Linux based operating systems like Manjaro.

This would be to go to the raw audio group of packages, and here we have a lot of stuff that you might want to install, for example, audacity yep golf caps, also Carla the plug-in host. This show plug-in framework, dragonfly reverb. Of course AB you meet er. Yes, drum gizmo, oh yes, EQ tank. You certainly G on kik. Oh yes, guitarist for sure helm, yeah, IRL v2. It also might want to install Jack capture or something else.
I don’t like Linux sampler at all liquid sfz I’ve heard it’s a nice plugin LSP plugins yeah MDA lv2 yeah. These are some good plugins, though I had problems with them. Ninjas too, is a nice drum loop, slicer noise repellant is an excellent realtime de noising plugin. Actually two plugins one is using neural networks can looking through anything else I might need or want sample v1 is a very useful sampler set b3 is an excellent hammond organ emulator Sherlock lv2 is a great plugin for reading.
What’s going on in your MIDI stream, sonic visualizer is a very useful program for well visualizing audio file contents, as WH plugins are used to Tampa plugins sure wall shaper. Oh yes, love spectrum 2 X, 42 plugins are very useful. These are excellent. Audio metering, plugins zam plugins, are great. Zita audio jack bridge is very nice. It’s a tool for bridging, also applications to Jack. A Zeta ng bridge is a network jack application to send Jack audio over network.
I’ve made a article about that and there’s 8 RF 1, which is the very well sounding reverb and now to install them. I right-click somewhere and then go install. It asks me to install Jack. I don’t want to because that’s optional and I also have Jack already project. Em is a music visualizer. I don’t need a visualizer plugin and it should now list all the packages I want to install. 4 is the default one and we’re going to go for 5.4 13 real time and I’m going to press ENTER and boot this one. Now, every time I boot into btrfs, I get this error and really doesn’t mean anything. S. Excellent. My name is John golden from sales pop online sales magazine pipeliner CRM, I’m actually today, not as I’m York, normally I’m in San Diego, I’m actually in lovely Vienna in Austria and my colleague Marta is also somewhere in the city.
I don’t know quite know where, in the city you’re hiding today, Martha also in the end, is keeping you’re keeping your location top secret okay. Well, today, what we’re going to talk about is sales training tips and advice and Tim’s the founder and president of sales gage, which is a sales training company that offers a kind of unique blend of both live training and online or elearning training. You know focused on strategies that immediately drive pipeline and have near-term impact, because I mean, I guess Tim, that’s always one of the things when it comes to any kind of training, but particularly sales training.
Is you know how quickly is this impact? Are we going to see the impact so, from your point of view Tim? What are some of the most important components of a successful sales, training or sales performance improvement initiatives? You know what John there I guess it depends on how you actually measure success. It depends which VP you’re talking about if you’re looking at just, I need a common language for people to be able to work through and have a process.
That’s a methodology, training and there’s a lot of companies that offer that methodology in the and that’s interesting, because, typically working for Hewlett Packard for 20 years, we went through every training known to that you could possibly do, and it turns out that each one of these Trainings had some value to them, but one of the things that really lacked is how do you measure success in sales training, um, that if you want people to fill out paperwork and be able to come out and have a nice, you know I have a nice Blue sheet, or whatever that you’re using, then that’s what you need to be able to buy for sales training our customers are looking at success is how many deals do we get what happened in the training? As you mentioned, what we’re really discovering is finding that eLearning and blended in with a live practice session has been unbelievable for lowering cost and driving.
You know real success. You know. Last week we did a storytelling program for a customer. It was very customized to their products and at the end we did two hundred and ninety some odd calls 219 times. They’ve either left a message or talked to someone and they got 43 actual meetings out of that and at the end of the day, one of the women, this woman Erica sent me a note and said: not only did the class go really well, but she ended Up closing an opportunity, the following day on something that she made a phone call in that day.
So, if you’re looking for success, that’s what I look for is is: did you get something out of it? Um yeah! So that’s it! So let me just focus in for a moment on that so um you mentioned the blend of e-learning and then live training. Is that live training in person is a live training? Is it virtual live training? Can it be either/or, and what do you find is? Is appropriate for maybe self-paced e-learning and what’s appropriate for live, I mean: how do you, how do you get the best of best out of both of those media, so they can be virtual and they can be live? If we talk about the e-learning, what you really need to do is make it to be about an hour long, and these are the concepts that you want people to learn because it used to be that I would come in and do a live session and we’d Spend 2 to 3 hours on doing the lecture, and then we would do the live training.
Well, it turns out now that we can immediately deliver two modules, which is really a 50 % cost savings to the customer. We can do 2 modules in the time it takes us to do what used to take us to do one, because we’ve got that e-learning what’s what’s appropriate. Is that whatever you do has got to be? You know under 90 minutes, basically in order to get people to stick and the real value of the tactical training is that people are practicing it.
They do it right away, and then I guess is that the it’s, the ongoing reinforcement, because one of the things they you know – and I was in the sales training industry for a while – the the biggest obstacle always was. You could come in. Obviously – and you could do a sales performance improvement initiative with the company everybody’s super pumped and enthusiastic about it and then you leave and you know, you’ve trained the managers and you hope that they’re going to, but you have no, you have no way of really impacting It going forward and this the highly motivated ones, will take it and run with it and they probably train themselves anyway, but the rest of them.
It kind of atrophies over time sales isn’t for children. I mean it’s a hard job, John right and to your point, making them practice and showing that it works again. This isn’t about filling out paperwork. This is literally about making sure that they’re working on a live deal that they’re making phone calls that they’re in the middle of a negotiation. That’s the real value in being able to do tactical training it’s what they got to do every day and if they can’t be successful, that’s not anything that a sales training is going to make work.
What is it, what are some of the common issues that you see and that you’re you’re when you’re training that you can help address, such as you know, maybe one of the ones that I used to see a lot in the past? Was you know, sales people? Maybe holding on too long to an opportunity, maybe not qualifying it enough in the early stages and then running into problems later. What are some of the common issues that you come across that you can address? Well, if you break down the process where we start with prospecting, the very first thing I talk about is you know where your leads coming from number one and then number two: how do you line them up so that you can be very efficient with them? So it’s a time management piece that we need to teach people up front.
The second one is, I love the CRM, but not when you’re making calls make the calls and then go back and update your CRM. That really gets you to focus on what you need to do and move forward when you think about deals, what really struggles is that they don’t know how to qualify them. They really struggle with qualifying a deal, and you know everyone thinks that their baby’s really good-looking and cute, but at the end of the day your deals aren’t I mean you think there are great deals, but when someone else looks at them it becomes a problem and You know: we’ve got a couple of ways that we do it to attract.
You know some differentiate differentiation there, but upfront it’s about understanding what I call the critical business issue and that’s a really important one, because we break it down into what we call the critical business, the critical technical and the critical personal – and you know I can address Them if you’d like John on that side, but I’m not sure exactly what you’re looking for no I’m, but it’s it’s good.
Where we’re going with the conversation, I really like it. I think focusing another critical business issue because I do think like okay, so every sales person when they engage with the prospect they they may at least try to have a business conversation and try to get to the business issues. But some people are better at it than others. Why do use? What makes some people better at that, and it is part of it – is that some people don’t really know what how to define what a real business issue is.
Yeah turns out that’s a little of both one that they think they’re having a business issue conversation. The first thing that you describe is the technical issue when they hear the pain point that they’re actually going after, and they hear that issue that they can solve with their product or service. They jump on it both feet in and they’re one or two questions away from qualifying for the critical business issue.
You know when we talk about high value trade table, which is where we get into a from a book call from Chris Voss, never split the difference. Negotiate is if your life depends on it when we get into high value trade tables, it’s really about knowing. How do you capture that information, and one of the very early captures, is what I will refer to as the critical business issue? It’s the people, time and money, and if you stop from the pain point and go back and start engaging, how long does it take you to do this? How many people are involved? If you get two of the three people time and money, you can actually calculate an ROI, and if it’s equal or less than a year, you probably have a good opportunity to close a deal as an example.
We had a customer that swore he had a great deal just on upside-down and it turns out that when we did the critical business issue in calculating the ROI, it turns out that the customer that the client was spending fifteen thousand dollars a year in engineering time. But to solve that or to make them more efficient, they had to spend sixty thousand for the product or service. That’s a four year return on investment, but he swore he had a great deal mm-hmm.
So so what I, what I was finding I am, and I’d like to get your insight on this, as I said, is that it’s not always the fault exclusively of the salesperson right. It’s the the sales managers can get very distracted into late-stage opportunities. Trying to you know, get in there and be the super closer or let me help get this over the line when really, if they focused more on helping to qualify and be that sounding board earlier in the process and we’d have less we’d have better qualified issues.
Maybe are better qualified opportunities, maybe less of them, but with a more higher likelihood of closing well they’re, so focused on three to four times pipeline. They get so into that that they lose sight of the quality versus quantity. So you know one of the studies that we did is that last year there were a hundred deals that we went through with customers and of those hundred ninety six of them had critical technical issues, pain points that they could solve.
Only four of them had business issues that were actually calculated and agreed upon. So this idea that you know they know what they’re doing is one thing. The other piece that you look at is you have two thousand. I call it deal time. It’s two thousand hours a year to make quota roughly little less happy of two thousand half of that goes away to you’re, doing your internal job and everything you need to do for your sales manager and the internal, and you know, life in general gets in the Way – and that means you’ve got a thousand hours well, if you know that 80 percent of the deals that go into your pipeline literally, don’t close, they either lose to competition or no decision.
That means that eight hundred of your remaining thousand hours is gone to deals that you shouldn’t be working on and that’s 200 hours of deal time. That’s all you got to close if you can just get one or two of those deals that your you’re working on to really look at and say: hey, it’s not a good deal. I got ta kill it. Then you have a huge difference in what you can do for deal time, because I mean personally, I get kind of tired of that whole mathematical formula.
You know the we need 5x our pipeline and then life is good and you’re thinking. Well, wouldn’t one and a half of really highly qualified opportunities be better. You know than 5x a load of garbage that it’s funny. I had a guy who worked for me for years, and he kept telling me about this Hamilton standard opportunity was coming in. It was coming in. Finally, I looked at him and I said Larry I don’t get it.
I’ve been forecasting as for you for months, I said it’s not coming in. I said what’s the deal and he said to me: you know Tim when it’s the only deal in your pipeline by definition. It’s a great deal, there’s a well, you know all of a sudden. You know we’re getting to the point where we start teaching people you need these high-value trades and again I recommend this book by Chris Foss. You know never split the difference.
Chris was the FBI hostage negotiator and Chris talked about the fact that you need to know what you’re going to trade before you get into it, and we built this scorecard in this whole idea of high-value trades and its value. What’s the customer asking you for on the one side and on the other side it’s all about time, and so it’s really interesting because when I take guys give me an example of that, because this is fascinating.
Give me an example of some high value, some trades that you might make. Yes, so here’s the one you know one of the things in the software world a lot people want to get to the demo. They don’t know why. But they just know that if I show you something, maybe it’ll stick well, if you start thinking okay, well, I could do a custom demo or I could do a standard demo. Well, those two items right there are increasing in value.
The standard demo will cost you more money than a sales call or a recorded demo mmm. The custom demo takes a lot of time, more people etc. So, all of a sudden that whole idea that I actually am being asked to do a lot by my customer. I have the right them to invest personally, they need to do more for me. So what I teach these guys is hey in order for you to do that. You know, and I’m happy to do, what you’re asking for, if you want to custom demo, I’m happy to do it in order for me to get that done, I’m going to need to think about a high-value trade that I want, and that might be you need To put together a requirement stock that states, you know how you’re going to measure us what you’re doing etc.
The customer has to do that work that all of a sudden becomes this idea that you’re committing to work with them. Only if they’re willing to work on your side and when value looks at time on the right-hand side and that’s you know, value on the left and then time on the right. The critical business issue is like the third item on the list and a lot of the sales managers start saying to me. That seems like a really valuable thing.
It’s it shouldn’t be. It should be more than three points, mm-hmm and I said to him because you’re looking at it in terms of value in that time, I need to know what the return on investment is before the deal gets into the pipeline right. I need to know that we’ve got a good deal and you and the customer agree that we got a great return on investment, so you touch them something that’s really fascinating here and that I wanted to dig a little bit more into.
I think what you said at the beginning. There is in order to do this kind of trading right. The the salesperson has to have a good degree of confidence and respond respect for their own, their own time and the value that they bring right, because if I don’t feel that way, I’m going to say oh yeah I’ll, do a custom demo for ya I’ll paint. It whatever color you want it to be, and you know and I’ll send you chocolates too, but it requires you to have some confidence in yourself and the value you’re bringing for me to say yeah Tim I’ll.
Do that for you, but here’s what I’d like you to do in return? You just got it right on by the way. It’s it’s not a hard concept, but if you don’t plan it upfront right, it doesn’t happen. You need to know what you’re willing to trade and win you know and – and I find it fascinating that salespeople, don’t ask enough questions and, like I said, the critical business, they will actually check off as a that’s something they’ve gotten from the customer.
And yet, when I go back and say what’s the return on investment, how long they they have the technical issue, you can always sell with this issue. You can sell against the pain, but if you really go back to the business impact, because someone in your customer is doing this you’re, not an expert in the finance right, little piece makes a huge difference and they’ve got to be confident enough to do it.
Unfortunately, they don’t want to know the answer, so they don’t they don’t do it they’re. You know. If I get the answer you know it might be the one I know one and I don’t have a deal and then then I might have to find another deal, which means I got ta make a call and I’m going to make a call. I’m petrified of the phone, so there’s another interesting thing in your training nowadays, how much is it evolved over the years, because one thing I I see a lot of right now: is people don’t want a prospect anymore right or they? They would tell you.
Well, you how cold-calling is dead and inbound rules, and you know I sit here and kind of wait for leads to be fed for me, because actually it’s really marketing this job nowadays to fill my pipeline. So what is your what’s your answer with us? Well, there’s two answers one: when people get promoted the first thing they think of is oh, I don’t have to call anymore and great sales reps. Still. I don’t care what you call it cold, calling it doesn’t need to be cold, calling McCoy, but networking and understanding your accounts and seeing what’s going on, you know we just did one, which was something we called slam.
A sales lifecycle account management program and we took a customer through how their client goes to market and then how to interview executives at each step. So they could go back in and create an opportunity. I don’t care what you call it. That’s prospecting well, but right now it’s BTR’s. You hear sales development, reps and business development reps in they are usually people that are fairly inexperienced.
They haven’t quite figured out what they’re doing yet and they’re being asked to go out and call people and generate leads to that point. We actually created, what’s called a BTR kickstart program where we bring together BTR’s. Let them get a couple of different île earnings and then either virtually your live depending upon how they want to do it. Take them through how to get on that phone and tell a great story and handle an objection.
That’s the minimum that needs to happen, and it’s really powerful when you read these young folks get on and do it. We did one a couple of weeks ago where I had a small group, four or five people, and they were just amazing. They were energetic and ready to go and it was fun, and you know it all went on their oldest coldest status leads and I’m working wonders. Well. You did again there’s an interesting thing that you touched on there, that you also you also you know mentioned earlier me here and that storytelling right, because what you just said is you know you got, you teach them how to tell a story, and then you know Overcome the objections, but I mean oh I’m going to think of you know I got a lot of.
I get a lot of unsolicited emails and phone calls and stuff. You know, as we all do, I’m trying to think of the last time. Somebody captivated me with the story. So when you teach storytelling tell me a little bit more about what what do you? What do you teach them to do? The biggest thing that I like to be able to do is you know your marketing. People have done a lot of work for you, go back and read your case studies, because that’s where your story should come from right and it’s pretty simple by the way, as I did with a with a customer, we took their infographics on a couple of their Case studies in an e-book and we immediately were able to build five six seven different stories that you could reach out to their customers on.
They were very customized. You know we teach them to actually start with some level of a pain point you know understand. You know, based on your title, customers like yourself, have been telling us again. You’ve got the confidence you know one of our customers was able to you know. How do I get a few minutes just to talk with you about this or who should I speak to? It’s literally about being able to build a very short story: 20.
Second voicemail – and the biggest thing here is that you need to do the one-to-one executive prospecting, which takes a lot of research in time, but this BDR SDR world. You really got to get him into volume. How many things can I get you know and, like I said when we did it last week, you know in a 90-minute period it was 290 dials and that was 18 people, but that’s pretty powerful when you think about it in 90 minutes I’m going to each One of you we’re doing 30 to 40 calls and you need to do 50 to 100.
Today. It’s all a matter of time management, a little bit of technique in a cabin, a great story and another CAG, you were said everybody was enthusiastic and you know fun. I mean you got a let’s face it. If you’re going to be made in that amount of calls every day, you’ve kind of got to get yourself psyched, you know hyped up and because it’s it’s a tough thing to do so, you might as well may make it fun yeah and recognize that most people, Like yourself, John, are not going to respond, you you need to be there at the right time, doing the right thing and saying the right item that actually hits their pain point that they’re willing to work with you on yeah, and I think, that’s part of the Reason why you see a lot of people give up so easily? It’s you, they make.
You know a few hundred calls or whatever it is, and they say well. This is useless. This doesn’t work but, as you say yes, if you call me on an average day and – and you know put something at me, you know I’m if I even pick up um yeah and if I do I’m probably not going to listen to you. But there are occasions when you know an email is pumped into my email box or somebody’s called up about something that I’ve actually been thinking about and I’m like huh.
Maybe this is worth listening to. So it’s like it’s like one of those things is it’s out there. If you keep going right, it is, you know one of the things I tell people. John and people say all people don’t listen their voicemail. They don’t do this. Look at if people really like what you have to say, they will call you back yeah, I don’t care. If you catch them live they might be. You know, engage you and and have a meaningful conversation as you defined it, but at the end of the day, you really need to be able to get people to do work for you.
If you’re doing all the work and they’re not doing any, you don’t have a deal, you know it’s the funniest thing, as I say, to salespeople. Okay, tell me about the last meeting you were on whether it was on the phone or in person, and one of the things that they talked about is that they did all of these action items, and I said great, would your customer ya know so? Well, they they had nothing right there waiting for us, yes, okay, sales is a is a whole negotiation from the beginning to the end, and I think it was Ian Dunbar who made it.
He was a famous dog trainer and he says: look at whether you’re training, dogs or spouses, it’s exactly the same. It’s a negotiation and that’s what we’re doing trying to train our customers. Yeah absolutely – and I love that and that you brought up that issue about yeah, because that that’s one of the biggest one you see is like somebody comes back from a meeting or gets off the phone or a virtual meeting, and they say I had a fantastic Meeting the prospect really engaged – and you say, what’s the next steps.
Well, you know: we’ve set up a follow-up meeting for next week. That’s fantastic! What are they doing between now next week? No, what do you mean? What is this customer doing? Nothing yeah again the high-value trade table. You know as part of the sales gauge five module where you actually build this trade table, one of the things before you you get off that phone before you schedule. You’ve had to ask them for something it could be as simple as a LinkedIn, but I’ll tell you if you’re sending a quotation to a new prospect without actually scheduling a meeting to review it.
Even it’s only 10 minutes, you’re missing a chance to increase the qualification. Just simple things like that, John and that sticks with people and they love it, and if they can’t give me 10 minutes to actually review a quote, then how serious are they about buying yeah for sure, I’m one oak say as we’re bumping up against the end Of our time here, what I did want to ask you quickly, though, is about sales training becoming part of your daily work practice right, and I do think that this is – and this may be true of all disciplines – I don’t know, but I mean I think, particularly With wit, sales, you know, I don’t think sales people generally, we invest enough in themselves right or take enough response.
I think most people I mean I so people who probably practice their golf swing more than they ever practice their sales skills and, at the end of the day, they’re not on the Ryder Cup team, so golf isn’t putting food on their table. Your sales job is, and yet you’re missing any more time practicing your hobby yeah. You know one thing I talk about and it’s an interview question when I teach sales managers about interviewing and how to do behavioral interviewing one of the things I say is: I want to understand what book you’re reading right now today bring.
What did you do to invest in yourself? It’s a simple one, and if someone came to I, and by the way I don’t care, if it’s a novel or something that you’re reading for fun, I want to know that you’re doing something to invest in yourself. I’ve got a whole list of things that I love, but this and I’m really high on it right now, is book around this. This Chris Voss, the Frank Boettcher book on how I raise myself from failure to success and selling.
There were things and lessons in there that actually get you to understand how to be a better salesperson. You know I’ll talk about one guy, this Don Darren Becker, who was just an amazing customer of mine. He was a global sales manager at JD su many years ago in their Navi AVI, but Don had left. He wanted to go back to being an individual contributor and Don went off, and I talked to him recently and Don had this great thing that he told me he became such a better salesperson because he had empathy for his sales manager.
One thing people need to recognize is that make your manager look good they’ll make it do a lot for you and so Don had his CRM updated. He had his reports and he knew what was required in what the customer needed and or his manager needed, and that made him a better salesperson and he had much more time to sell because it wasn’t constantly answering questions from a sales manager was so profound and He’s an excellent excellent sales rep and he loves it, and you know he was a manager was a global guy and he said I want to be an individual contributor again, there’s a noble thing to that.
I love him. Ya know I think, that’s a great self-awareness. I think there and you know, focusing on what you wanted, what you’re good at as opposed to always feeling that the only way to prove that you’re, improving or or you know, moving on in your career, is to have the term manager, because it’s not the case. So, okay, so as we finish up on our time here Tim, this has been great. It love the conversation.
I always like to ask guess what do you personally Tim do every day to set yourself up for success? What’s something you do you know so I’ll tell you John the biggest thing that I tell everyone on this one. You know if you ever read a professional athlete before a game. They’re stretching they’re doing they’re getting warmed up right, they’re, not just going out cold into the field. So one of the things I tell everyone and myself is grab a couple of your really old cold leads, go back out.
People you haven’t talked to in a year. It’s all in your crm, just you know new a sort and then take and make your first three or four calls of the day. Those are your warmups just make those calls you’ll get a couple of dials in and you’ll get in the habit of doing things and like a professional athlete, you’ll have warmed up because once you get through three or four of them, good things happen, but you need To be able to understand, what are you going to say? Is there a? Is there a great story you can tell, can you you know refer them to some piece of content that you know you’ve done, whether it’s in manufacturing or service or financial services there’s good things and that’s what I like to start out with you know get yourself Pumped up by making a few phone calls in the morning to your old leads and then believe it or not things happen.
You even will resurrect a couple of leads out of there. Just by doing that, ya know this fantastic advice. I think everybody should. It should follow that advice, phenomenal and just before we go to him just tell everybody just a little bit more about you and your company and how they can find out more about you. Wsas gage comm and in that you’ll see our e-learning platform. I got to tell you what we’ve been told is that the e-learning platform is a very under priced value. We give that away for customers to really get something out of it, and it’s really targeted at that that small company that really needs to do some training, but they can’t fly everyone everywhere. Cuz y’all don’t need to know my address, but in the very top it has some of these new kaleidoscope pattern. I haven’t seen these yet so I’m very excited about that. So this is happy everything. It’s like the little post, it post it no post card and then these seals I always keep the seals. I rarely keep these just because I don’t really use them, but love that they come in the new pattern, and this is all the teacher stuff, I’m so jazzed.
Okay, let me try to take this all out and then we’ll like go from there. Oh, my gosh, so much Bilbo Reb. Oh all, right, move The Box out of the way we look at all that. Oh, it’s so cute! Alright, let’s open this bad boy up! Oh wow! Look at all the goodies! Okay, let’s go through this one by one! So I have seen people already post about this on Instagram and blogs, and things like that. I will leave some links down below if you guys want to see, maybe what some other people got or other people’s thoughts on certain things, so anyways um.
This is the plan T pack, and this is in a pattern that came out last year. I believe it does have that metallic mist to it and it’s got a gold zip, which I love. You can see it a little bit better if you guys want to know the actual size. It is a 5.25 by eight inches yeah, it’s so cute. I just think these are so much fun. I will show it on the planner and in just a few minutes. Next up we have this metallic washi tape duo and it’s 216 foot rolls.
I pull this out for y’all, so you can see it. I have heard that this is actual washi tape and not the paper tape that has happened in years past. Oh yeah, it’s actual washi tape, oh yeah, yeah cool! Oh I’m excited for that. Okay, those are really cute. These are like the little watercolor apples with the asterisks inside of them. Also, these are apples with asterisks inside of them too, but they’re, just like the gold foil they’re.
So nice, okay, love these. This is so cute. I know last year I think in the last couple of years, they’ve actually had the stylized sticky notes in a like teacher or student version, and I love that this one is so kind of plain. You can make it your own, and this has like a long to-do list which is kind of awesome, too little stickies and then like a big circle. This one says: don’t forget, and you know a smaller little box here and then this would just like the little paperclip I feel like anyone could use these.
That’s really nice and I will show these in the planner in just a moment. I’m just kind of like putting the things up to the side, and then this is a petite journal, but I’ve seen the inside of this, and I think it’s really interesting so like let’s take a peek at it. It is in the hexagon pattern, which I always think is like the bumblebee pattern, because it looks like honeycomb, but in the gold foil it says successful people are simply those with successful habits.
Those like a habit, tracker, so yeah and then this would fit in your on-the-go folio if you have that off camera hold on. I have this. This is like my little monthly planner for 2019 that I love. They are the exact same size. So if you have a petite planner, you could totally use this or you could just like very easily slip this into your bag or whatever. But I like that it is small and cute, and it’s got that metallic foiling.
I hope you guys can see that sometimes on camera things look a little funky so anyway, this is so cool all right and then it’s like all trackers y’all like this is kind of Awesome. So if you’re someone that likes to track anything in your life, you don’t have to be a student, you don’t have to be a teacher. This would be amazing. It also has like a little dotted line. It’s not perforated, but it is a dotted line.
So if you want to keep the same habits but then like every single week like tear off the page, you totally could and then it is on the opposite side as well, which is great because then you’re like utilizing all the papers. So I love that and I love that there are seven of these. You could use them for every single day of the week or whatever. But this is, I don’t know what I’m going to use this for, but I feel like I could use this for something good.
I don’t know, but I feel like I could, but anyway but yeah you could fill it up with as many habits trackers whatever. But you could track anything in here which is awesome. You could even do this for like some of your finances and stuff like that, would be pretty awesome. I don’t know just you could use so many things for this, so I’m really pumped about this little book here and then next we have the designer sticker book classroom collection, edition 3.
This is like their normal sticker books. Last year they had the like the pad that kind of like opened up, and I have that – and I love that – and I still use it from time to time, because you know I work in an office. So I think it’s great for anyone in an office. But let’s look up the school stuff. These are pretty. I just really like this kind of like underlay, of like this tone on tone. I don’t know I’m just like a huge fan.
These are nice this I like this. If you all know me and have seen any of my plan with me articles and I’m sorry, I haven’t been like posting them, but I actually have a plan with me article coming up this week. So like stay tuned, it’s going to be like a different plan with me, but anyways y’all know that I don’t track. I mean I track things, but I’m not like a habit tracker person in my planner like I don’t track my water and I don’t track.
You know spending in my personal planner and like the things that I show on the Internet, I don’t know, but I think this would be so cute. I don’t know why, like this sings to me for some reason, mmm so yeah, I don’t know. I saw this on someone’s post. I think it was gen McIntosh. I saw this on one of her post and I was like. I need all of those. I don’t know why, but I need them, so this would even be cute like on your monthly cuz.
It has like five columns so sometimes there’s five weeks in a month. That would be really cool like track if you’re wan na know track something for other months. Oh no, I just thought. Okay, I’m going to stop talking about that page and then now we have some metallic apples and some like little tabby things. Some of these things you probably wouldn’t use so like I probably wouldn’t use like 50th day a hundredth day and last day.
Unless I don’t know somehow, I was tracking something like personal for myself. Most of these you can totally use like reminder. I can use that assembly – probably not but maybe conference, maybe a field trip. I probably wouldn’t use important. Definitely I could use and take note. Definitely I can use, and then there are some really cute little flags, and this has like a little paperclip metallic on there, so nice, and then these are just days of the week, which was very cool ooh.
I saw this and I was like yes please. These are transparent, so you can put them in the planner which is kind of cool or mean you could put them anywhere, but yeah, and then we’ve got some washi strips and then this I’m excited about, because I have used a bunch of these in the old Sticker book and I’m really glad that it have more now, because I you know I am one of the people in my office that actually doesn’t go to a lot of meetings.
I mean there’s like multiple meetings a day for people and I’m so thankful that I don’t have to go to all the meetings, because I’m kind of like an intermediary, someone that doesn’t have to deal with like the pre-planning stuff and someone that doesn’t have to deal With like the end of the order stuff, I’m kind of in the middle, so I don’t have too much to do with having a meeting of the minds of thing, but there are some things I have to do for meetings, but I love these stickers.
I think they’re so pretty. I love the colors this year, so nice here’s another transparent sheet with some different icons, which is really nice another transparent sheet – and you know some of these – have like rapport. Do after school break no school like all. These are break-in no school like it probably wouldn’t use those, but there is like a staff meeting. I could use that to do report. Do I could use that? Sometimes we do testing, which is actually something I do don’t forget and then like a bunch of icons and just cute little things.
So that is the sticker book, I’m so excited and then next up we have the metallic mini snap-in bookmarks. I was super confused when I did my life planner launch day article. I hope, throw it up in a card for you guys. My thing said metallic and it wasn’t metallic, but this one is metallic, so I don’t know. I just think it was like different packaging that it was in because I was like they’re not metallic, but it says metallic, I’m confused, so anyways umm.
So there is a three-set here. We’ve got like the teal. We’ve got like a darker Navy and then we’ve got a like. I don’t know, I don’t think it’s red. I think it’s more of that pink, it’s more like this color here, but these are so nice. I love these. These are like my favorite favorite thing for cutting washi, and then we have. This teacher weekly dashboard says clip it in check it off plan it out.
Well, okay, then alright, and then we have a Monday through Sunday Saturday. I don’t know I need to open this. Hang on, I swear like half of the footage is always me just like opening things. Oh cool, alright, so you’ve got Monday Tuesday, Wednesday Thursday Friday, and then you have a Saturday and Sunday and then you have a before school after school. This would be great for just anyone that has kids.
To be honest, you could do like your meal plans and like before school after school, chores or tasks that they need to get done before. Like you know, parents get home and all that kind of stuff. That’s cool and then you’ve got kind of six little sections here and it says: forget the mistakes. Remember the lessons in like a very light, lined right here. So you know if you have notes about upcoming things or whatever.
I think this would be really nice, and this is life planner sighs, so it clearly would fit in a regular. You know Erin Condren life planner, which I actually have my Erin Condren life planner for 2019 2020 right here and I could easily just snap this sucker in I’m not going to do it at the moment. But I could do it all right. Here’s the piece de resistance, let me clear some stuff out of the way and then and then we’ll get to it, y’all all right here it is oh, this is so beautiful.
Okay, first off the teacher lesson planners are larger than the regular life planner and let me show you the difference. It also comes with this awesome bookmark, which also came with this planner as well, so I’m going to just do edge on edge. This is the sizing difference. So if you are interested, that’s the difference, the coil, I don’t know it seems a little bit yeah. The coil feels like it’s a little bit bigger.
Let’s see if you guys can see yeah, it seems a little bit. Bigger y’all like in the monitor, actually looks a lot bigger, but in person it just looks a little bit bigger. So I like that, because there’s a lot of pages in this thing, so clearly you can pull this off and put it anywhere. You want or just keep them off. I like to keep mine off. Just I don’t know personal preference. This is a really beautiful cover.
This year there was a couple of different new covers for the school line, and I picked this one. I thought this was so nice. You can obviously personalize it. I don’t like to personalize anything as you guys can see with this one. I didn’t personalize it at all, so, let’s dive into it. Oh this is so nice. Okay, let me here we go alright cool. I still making sure you guys are as centered as possible on this side is always a little dashboard area where you can use your wet erase markers and then you just hop in to the planner and then this is the teacher lesson planner.
This book belongs to the paper is still the Mohawk paper, it feels very nice and then they have an informational page. It says all about me: classroom information resources, name school year, email, phone address, classroom resources, website and passwords, and then over here we have events and volunteers, classroom, volunteers and contact information and then classroom events and date, information and I’m sure y’all are wondering like.
Why do I have this planner? Well, I’m kind of toying with the idea of using this for something, but if I’m using it I will share. However, I did read Jen from Jen plans, her blog or links, or something will be below for her. She did like an open box of her PR kit from Erin Condren and she is going to be. I don’t know if she is already like a scout leader, but she is going to be a scout leader this upcoming year and she was going to be using it for this and then possibly some other things, and I just thought that was like an awesome idea, Because there’s so many ways you can utilize this to really fit for your lifestyle, and you don’t have to be a teacher.
You can. You can be a student, you can be a parent, you can work with other organizations that maybe you just want that schedule totally separate from your personal schedule in your life planner or whatever kind of planner you use so anyway yeah. So I just wanted to address that because I’m sure y’all are like what the heck all right. So we have this contact tab and we have a communication. Log date name reason, slash resolved and then another one right here with a tab and it says 2019 2020 and then we have our year at a glance or our half year at a glance and then our full 2020 at a glance which is awesome.
And then we have our tab that says of your plan, so this kind of gives you, like a big overview, that you can maybe write some key points in or goal setting or whatever you’d like to do for your year plan. We also have a graph. This is purdy-like big old graph pieces of paper, and I think that there might be a couple in here. There are a few in here and then also we have some lined pages and then this page says that you can learn something new every day.
If you listen, isn’t that true and then dates to remember in July, so there is looks like a couple pages before every months you can write notes or follow-ups or whatever this page here is kind of the same as the old life planners, where it’s like thicker. If that makes sense, which is the tabbed page, then this page like this – it’s always like a little bit of a like thicker, almost feels like cardstock, but it’s not cardstock, and then here is july 2019, very subtle, tone-on-tone.
A coloration also has the next upcoming month. On the side, I love love, love that that is so nice and then you have Monday through Friday in here with another column as well, and then columns kind of going down. Also, you have a big section right here that you could use some of your stickers in so like some of these could fit right in there if you’ve got certain lessons or certain tasks or something that you would want to put in there, which is great, and Then you know it just kind of goes from there.
So here is July. Let’s go to August because I mean it’s going to be like they’re, so redundant yeah. So before the month you have two pages, basically a page, a little more than a page and a half of lined lined paper, basically and then dates to remember in August. So if you’ve got events coming up or birthdays anniversaries, no school early dismissals things like that, you can always write them in there and then so far yeah.
I really like this. Okay, I don’t want to go through the whole thing because, like y’all are probably bored by this points so anyway, the planner does go from, let’s see here July through July, so we have a full month. Okay, oh this is nice okay, so you have a full month of july 2019 in here, which is great, so you have your monthly page and all your weekly is, and then this gives me July 2020 as well, and also with my little August 2020 here and Let’s see so, we’ve got the first week or like the end of June, into the first week of July and then the first full week of July here to kind of tide you over until the next planner, which is awesome.
Then we have a little tab here. That says checklist, which is a nice piece of paper that has its like that cardstock e1 still cuz, it’s got the little Chucky tabs on there, so I’ve got a nice line piece of paper and then over here. This is where the checklists live. Oh, my gosh. This is so pretty very similar. This is called the student checklist, but it’s very similar to this I feel like this could be used really well for personal goals or whatever.
But so anyway, you can put the names and you can put assignments whatever you’d like, and it also says fold or cut along this dotted line. So you can fold or cut because if you’ve got the same students over and over, you can just do this and then you know it’s the same line for the same student, but you know more assignments if that makes sense. So you’ve got quite a few pages of these. I just love this.
Like light pastel vibe going on, I really like that. I believe that there are some customizations where you can customize like how many pages you get of certain things and whatnot, so that information will be on the website on the launch day. I’m really not a hundred percent sure on that. So anyway, and then there are some sticker sheets, because I mean it wouldn’t be an Erin Condren planner without some sticker sheets.
Okay. So then we have this metallic foiled. One we’ve got some other, really fun ones. There’s like field trip, take note conference assembly reminder. I could use some of these probably not field trip, but I could use some of them like great job big day. I can give myself like a great job Apple one of these days, and then we’ve got some more okay. And I must say I totally forgot in my planner article when I did the Erin Condren life planner, to talk about the back pocket. Remember how it used to be that little dinky pocket that, like nothing ever fit in, I’m so glad that they have the big pocket on the back and the front.
Now because I feel like you couldn’t fit, you know stuff in there yeah it has it on this side too, but I love that they did that with the teacher lesson planner as well all right up next, oh my god, I’m so excited about these two um. There are some stickers I mean stickers are like life right guys, so this has the coordinating colors, and this is july. 2019. Let me actually like zoom you in a little bit, so you can see this a little bit better.
These are some of the holidays. Already pre-printed, this looks like it comes with the planner, so we’ve got lots of different things like Labor Day, Grandparents Day International Literacy Day Patriot day like it just has a whole bunch of other things in here has a bunch of blank ones too. So if you want to write your own, you totally can and then we’ve just got like all the months going on. Oh, oh did I get two sets.
Oh no, I just ended up getting two of the sheet weird. I I’m sure that you’re supposed to just get two sheets out. Let me zoom you guys back out. Cuz things are getting weird: okay cool. I ended up getting two of this sheet. I think you’re just supposed to get one of each, because that just seems kind of silly, okay cool. Let me move that over here. Also, you have options with this clear pocket as well.
You can put things in there like invitations or other things that you would need to put in there. I’m not sure, but there are, I believe, options with that and then the last page is also this nice. Blank area that you can write things in and then the back cover alright, I said I was going to show you guys this tape and I’m going to do that right now. So let me get some paper yah all right, I’m just going to use this like graph side paper and then I’m going to show you how these fit as well.
I’m going to use one of my little stylized, sticky notes or nonstick. You know. So. I’m sorry snapping book words. It’s been a long day at work. You guys to cut my washi and you know I got to start at the end here. Let’s take a peek ooh. It like rolls out really nice guys, really nice cool, all right, I’m trying to get it straight. I feel I feel the pressure from the internet to make it straight. Okay, cut the washi yeah yeah, okay, that laid out really nice, and this looks so pretty.
I feel, like you know, you don’t have to be a student or a teacher, to love this planner and to love all of these things. I mean you could just like really like apples. You know fun fact I actually eat applesauce almost every morning. For my breakfast, no, that’s like a really random fact, but it’s true all right and this beautiful gold foil, so nice and company was she nice. This looks so cute, oh okay, I’m going to stop being weird, I mean, but I guess I am where didn’t you guys already know that so whatever okay? So this is what it all looks like laid down with the washi and let me get to a monthly page.
I’m also going to do this on a weekly, so y’all can see the sizing and things like that. So we’ve got our to do and I’m going to try to get as close as I can in a corner. So you can see you know, sizing and stuff like that. So this goes over just slightly here I don’t know. Just kind of count depends on how you like it there we go. I want to do one like this as well, so you can see these ones are like almost sticky all the way through.
Okay, that took me a moment all right, actually very cool and then the don’t forget which is like my favorite one, because you would think that I’m like this planner person, that is like really unforgettable, I kind of am forgetful, sometimes so yeah. This is how it looks on the month view of the teacher lesson. Planner, and here is the weekly and clearly these are going to be a little bit smaller, but like the these, little dudes are going to be a little bit smaller.
But I feel like that’s totally alright, because what I use the sticky notes for to be completely transparent, as usually I don’t pre-plan any more. What I end up doing is sharing my planner and everything like that after the fact, just for some security reasons and things like that, however, I use these little post-its as like little markers for like oh, my work schedule, or I did this after work or I Had this appointment or whatever it is, you know I just love using these little sticky notes and they’re.
So nice and I must say the woven wonder, pattern one. Last year, the stickiness, I don’t know what happened but like it really encountered up their game for sure. With those – and I have to say I’m so glad to report that these are the same stickiness those and the new kaleidoscope pattern of the stylized sticky notes are also the same adhesiveness. So I’m just very excited about that because in years past they just for me haven’t been as good, so I just hadn’t had like a great experience with them, but now I’m in love with them they’re.
So nice, oh man, be helpful. If I can like actually lay this down properly so yeah, this is what it looks like in the weekly and I know, y’all are probably chomping at the bit going Emily. Why don’t you put them in the life planner? So we can see that too, and I’m like you know, I hear I’m here for you, okay, so let’s put it in the life planner as well, so we can see just how well this is. You know how well it goes um.
I think I don’t know for sure, because I’m you know don’t know the measurements and stuff. I clearly have an hourly planner, but the hourly planner is just slightly wider in the boxes, then the vertical. So I am assuming I don’t know for sure cuz. I don’t have a vertical with me, but I’m assuming that these fit the vertical perfectly, but I could totally be mistaken. This will clearly not fit so I’m just going to put that over there, alright, but yeah.
I think these are just so huge and I just I’m really liking the direction that Erin Condren is going, and I know some people are going to think like. Oh, you just say that, because you get sent stuff for free, you know if y’all haven’t noticed and I don’t mean to sound, not grateful or anything, but I used to do posts for a lot of different planner companies that, to be honest, I didn’t use, and I did it be for the sake of a article and I’m just trying to be like super transparent with you guys right now, and I’m kind of done doing that.
I really want to produce content that I would want to read and things that I’m passionate about and things that I think that you would be passionate about. I have gotten so many questions about the teacher lesson planner recently and when I was offered this collaboration, I was like absolutely I’ve had so many comments and so many questions about the teacher lesson planner. That’s the whole point of like sharing these articles before things launch, so you guys can make an informed choice and also maybe get some perspective from me as a single working person, and maybe some things I would use it for versus.
You know what you might use it for in your life and maybe it’s the same thing. Maybe it’s something totally different, but that’s what I love about planning and some of these products is that you can really make them your own. So anyway, let’s get back to this because sorry, but this is everything in the our lease – you can kind of see how it all goes. But yes, I’m so excited about that, and I wanted to show you the plan.
I pack on this because there’s been a lot of questions about it and I have actually seen people on the interwebs put this on there and, to be honest, this probably doesn’t like go the best, but we’re going to go for it anyway. I have seen some people put this on here and I am going to show you guys, I’m just going to like keep the film roll in and I’m going to show you exactly how difficult this is.
You can put it on there, but it is very, very tight. Like all I need it’s very stretched to the max, so you could probably put some flatter things in here. I think I just don’t think you could put anything of like real bulk in here. Just with it like that, and I just don’t know if it would, you know permanently kind of curl your cover. She just can see it’s kind of curling the cover like that, but somebody out there was a genius and I don’t know who that somebody was.
But I did see it on Instagram and I was like this is amazing. They put it this way. I’m like oh snap, like somebody out there was thinking. So, oh sorry, it’s like next to my body here. Sorry, I’m not really showing you guys very well. Okay. There we go so when you do it this way, it kind of you know goes inside the coil and that’s fine, but it also kind of acts as one of those at planar bands and then you can feel like you can fit like bigger things in there And you’re not going to like bend up your covers either.
So I don’t know that could definitely be an option for you and in the planning, packs, there’s lots of different patterns and colors. Now I know what was the one that they said. Oh, it was the really pretty kaleidoscope pattern that they had in the colorful that they had sent me there’s a neutral one which is gorgeous and there’s also some solid ones, so yeah there’s just kind of a little something for everyone and the zippers.
I must tell you are really really nice like they don’t skip or anything. I’ve had really good luck with Erin Condren zippers randomly, but I like kind of a zipper snub. You guys are learning like way too much about me. Oh, the back of it is like this pretty like hot, pink, fuchsia color as well. Oh and the inside is as well. The rapper and I should say a fanatical fan base because chance forever has probably the realest fan base. There is, and I mean fan base, not just I like their music so gets most plays. I’m talking about really mobilizing people ease. Has the realest fan base you’ll, see what I’m talking about in hip hop right now in terms of a young artist, especially for me independent? So, let’s start as a group, my dad is like you know he was a campaign.
Many people in office put show people to the people right, um and my dad at a certain point. Kind of campaign managed me in and showed me out of, like you know, print flyers and and move on foot and work organically with the people. Do I do you, like my base, use a political activist kind of yeah, I’m for the people right, so this is what to think about. How can you campaign like chance, because he learned from his dad and his dad was a campaign manager? So what do campaign managers campaign like this is what we’re going to go over in this article, but I’m I’m an artist of sorts and uh from Chicago for the people.
So in this clip Chan said he’s four other people in the last clip he fades for the people and he put his fist up and that’s number one when it comes to campaign management. Know who you are. It sounds kind of weird sounds kind of corny but know who you are because you have to have a clear understanding of who you are to know how you want to communicate with the people. Everyone who doesn’t know who don’t know chance, the rapper – you don’t sell your music.
No, it’s free, yeah! Um! Do you know you know you can how do you? How do you make money? Ah yeah, I’m on tour right now, I’m a touring artist as music grows. There there’s always new ways of releasing it. You know, there’s visual albums and you know old concerts and big Broadway musicals. It rule number two know your audience. So what does that really mean right? First, you have to know who you are, then you have to know who your audience, because you have to know how to communicate in Iraq.
With that audience chance doesn’t sell records his audience the young audience. People want to hear that shit these days. They don’t want to hear anybody crying about how oh I don’t make enough money or people should start paying, because if they don’t want to hear that that’s dead, so not only does he resonate even stronger with this audience by not actually selling his music, but he Also even goes on to speak of these creative ways that he could make money anyway, and that kind of stuff just makes you like him even more right, because the way, if he thought of was give more content, Broadway shows and touring actually giving more to the Audience to his fans, as opposed to just trying to figure out some kind of sneaky business ways, and I want to go back and really how he redone the audience reacts once again when he says he doesn’t sell music, everyone who doesn’t know who don’t know chance.
The rapper, you don’t, sell your music, no, it’s free, yeah! Um! Do you know you know you can’t see that speaking to his audience and knowing how to get them and move them. But let’s move on from there. We can go into that later. Have a story to tell this huge part of any campaign management: this is how you move people. You can think civil rights, how people have this entire moving this back story of slavery.
Things like that to move people on well, look how chance with tenday, had a complete story around and I’m going to let intelligent explain the current of attending 10 day was, I recorded. While I was on a 10-day suspension from high school. What you do why I get suspended, we I have yeah. I have marijuana I’ll know what the rules are for everybody, everything I have. We not really a lot of wheat, but like on on school property.
I guess like a half. A zip was, if not like, like a like a maybe maybe a quarter, maybe a quarter. I don’t smoke, I was, but they were trying to say I had intenta. So what I did I had it in one bag. It was for me it doesn’t matter user. I wasn’t really trying to say nothing. I don’t know what was incriminating. What was not, I was chilling so when you hear chance tell this story, this makes people relate to them, particularly in that age range.
This was his very first drop. You have a story as a whole concept, but it’s not even all this. It’s not so abstract. It’s 10 days, ok, 10 days of suspension. A lot of people can relate to suspensions. I was suspended twice. Then you have this concept of. We people could relate to the weed, there’s so many ways and things people could relate to a story, and people will always pull what they can relate to most out of that story, because it resonates with them and it gives them a visual of who.
The person is, people are always trying to figure out who is this artist they’re, trying to figure out ways to get closer when you even look at acid rap acid rap had a story in itself just the whole idea of acid rap. It creates a story of who you think chance is what you expect from the music and now, even if you didn’t have any kind of name from the music now you’re thinking. Okay, what made him think that he must have been on acid right and even coloring book the last project that had a story in himself.
It was a lot less straight-4 in the first two projects, but when you have such a strong fan base and following at that point, people are going to be listening for some kind of concept and creating themselves and what you could probably get out of. That is just the fact that he’s in a better place in life and that’s kind of the constant theme throughout that whole project he’s a better place. Thank God.
He you know is having having a child and whoops girl all that kind of stuff. But it’s constantly constantly implementing stories to give your crowd or ticking people something to resonate and move with, because when people can relate to you, they feel closer to you when they feel closer to you. They will do more for you and as an artist. That’s how you have power and we’ll get to that later on, so look at this chance is just making a tweet Chicago Bulls.
So not only is he staying strong with his local folks, but that’s just a small little interaction. That’s how a lot of people use Twitter and then you look at this tweet between these cute little baby. Look at the babies. It’s Halloween people got their babies, dresses chance the rapper once again it’s how strong is showing how strong his fan base is. People have babies dressed like this dude, and this is young and his career, think about it and then look baby baby baby.
Look at these cute little babies. That is a strong, strong engagement with his audience. He stays engaged with this audience. When you constantly engage with your audience, you become more real to your audience. People love you even more and a lot of people. They don’t necessarily well a lot of artists. I mean they want this whole mysterious thing and that’s the thing you’re going for you know the whole press thing.
That’s a different type of story, that’s a different strategy, but this is for those people who want really strong engaged audiences. That would do damn near anything. For you and that’s what chance has he’s development uh not that many years ago I was, you know, still trying to pass out my mixtape I’m still trying to pass out my mixtapes. Do you guys know how hard it is to make tell everybody know your music like even when people feel like you know, you can’t get much bigger or your musics played everywhere, like when you’re artists, your soul, you know purpose is to like share your music with Everybody, this is a key up from two reasons.
Really I just can’t escape every single time. I have a article, I’m not going to make it a core strategy, because it’s obvious and everybody should do it to the max – get attention. It shows that he understands this. Even as big as he is, he’s still passing out resources, but that’s only a small two of the iceberg to also touch about the fact that he’s galvanizing his resources. I’m about just team in general, if it’s necessary enough people want to hear about that, though also collaboration. I don’t know if you guys even understand how huge of a deal for independent artists, especially hip-hop, to be on Ellen, it’s fucking ridiculous. I’ve seen the fact that he was smart enough to do something like this, because they weren’t on the regular track, at least well, probably on some kind of vocal course, but to actually bring them out. I heard of. But it shows how he constantly built abnormal relationships and makes them very strong mobilize now we’re getting to the sweet stuff.
I just have to put this one on Front Street because when you have a combination of all those things that we’ve talked about so far, all right mobilize is number seven. You really have power when I say you can do more and move mountains to do something like this right chance. The rapper had a parade to vote this election. Obviously Donald Trump won, but he had all these people come out around him. He had a free concert.
They had people walk with him to vote. You see Richard Branson tweeting this. I don’t know if you guys understand how huge that is this dudes, a billionaire friend, even though chances and there’s so much like, I said about that, there’s really show how chance is really creating a movement and you can create a powerful movement too. If you follow these southern strategies, it takes time it takes some.

You can verify the user’s identity and its integrity by examining the ID tokens content. Let’s get started, you can obtain an ID token upon the successful authentication and then send it over to the server using a secure, HTTPS connection on the server side. The retrieved ID token will look pretty cryptic, but don’t worry you can decode verify and extract this information without a network call by using the Google provided.
Client libraries like this note that the client libraries verify most of the information, but you still have to check if AUD, which indicates audience matches your client ID and ISS, which indicates issuer matches either of following strings. Now you can retrieve the users profile information to be used in your app. This ID token includes the same profile information you can get using the JavaScript library on the client.
A quick tip to remember is that if the users email address is already verified by Google, you don’t have to verify it again in your app once the ID token is verified, use su B, which indicates subject as a user ID to store information.
