This is where i’m going to hold the bushcraft meet up at and i’ll. Do a give you our tour as soon as I can, but there’s all those buildings down there, there’s an old general store or old church old one school, one-room, school building, trapper’s cabin, all sorts of stuff, but um and there’s harmony hall.
That house was built in 1768 and is still standing. There’s a cabin over there that cabin used to have a family of nine people living in it and they would come outside to go up the ladder to the loft and that’s where they slept. But when we do the bushcraft meet up out here, people can can’t be anywhere out here in the woods. They won’t anywhere right here on the property they want. We’ll have tomahawk throwing contest on them.
Targets over there, see them and knife-throwing contest. There’s the bathroom right. There, if I could give you our tour in there cuttin, there are there’s all kind of stuff out here. The winds going to be blowing real hard today, so I don’t know how good this is going to pick up my voice. We got picnic tables all out around all around, but um the property goes on back way. On back so I mean there’s no shortage of space to count plenty plenty of space to kill them.
We’re going to have a ball out here y’all. I hope everybody can make it show you inside the bathroom here you got the sink. If you need to wash up kind of tall it over there. Show you right here what I’m doing them cooking some deer stew. All of this is homemade. Deer stew got a lot a lot of meat in it. A lot of carrots, a lot of potatoes, celery, onion filled up with beets buck beef broth and it’s going to be great anyway eat some. But we do that because today’s decoration day they’re going to decorate the house for Christmas, but um this whole place right here. Y’All, it ain’t nothing but history all out in the woods their their stuff that we’re still finding.
I found a foundation out there years ago that nobody knew about, and you figure back in the war days or 1768 when he built this house there. What no rolled out here this was actually the back of the house, which we look at this, like it’s the fun of the house, but this was the actual back of the house and there’s a path over there. That goes to the Cape Fear River, and that was their means of transportation was the river.
So I’m a lot a lot of history out here man. I love it that right there. That you’re, looking at in front of me, is the blacksmith’s shop. We do have a blacksmith out here from time to time. This is where it works, when the I probably can’t see did in their kids too dark. But the play does all this blacksmithing from lots of history. I love history, but on this is going to be from Thursday it’ll be Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the last Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday of februari.

Next to it, you got the one-room schoolhouse zoom in on that feel back there you got an outhouse old, outhouse, sorry for all the shake and I’m walking while I’m talking over there. We have a history class here, that’s decorating everything for Christmas. That’s the one room! Schoolhouse i’ll be giving y’all a tour through there, here’s the old church over there.
I want me to undo there, let’s get back with y’all when I get to the next limo over here this house it in very, very historic. I think I actually think it’s a 1970s house, I’m not sure, but it’s going to be a lot of fun out here. I got through doing the deer stew and everybody loved it. That was great, but on the bushcraft meet up i’ll, be doing deer stew and hopefully deer steaks too. I’m sure other people bring food too.
That’s just an old house. There ain’t much to it over there. We have another general store. All these buildings were brought here. They’re just historic buildings and they brought them here, made this kind of like a park. The only original building here is the harmony hall plantation house, but it’s so unique. If you love history, there’s the other old jar store right there. That’s the Tatum store should be able to give you our tour through there too.
I walk up here, we’ll get back by the way when y’all get here. Y’All can camp out here in this field. If you want camping the woods back there by the house, if you want there’s all sorts of places you can camp out it, they have plenty of room for, as many people wants to come, won’t be no shortage of spots to count. Here’s the Harmony Hall sign. This is like a little security cabin here, it’s a gatehouse and over here you got this one.
I camped out inside that this one before when it was 17 degrees out here when we was doing a reenactment, but this is the butler barn got, can pause it and read that real nice. I love it out here to come out here and feel like you’re walking in the 1700s about what it feels like. This is the blacksmith shop. He might even come out here while we’re out here. I’m not sure we do have one blacksmith. It’s been a little grandson, Evan Mickey my niece sister Tammy where’s Sasha.
She look like Bon Jovi rocky up here we got the Harmony Hall house limping off history club up there decorating, then there’s the one more Kevin over there. Nine people lived in that cabin I’ve. Already said that or not that’s, it will be camping all out here, all through the woods all over here. There’s a fire pit back there and another fire pit up here before I cook. The stew today cut the one bathroom over there and it does have a heater in it to stay warm over.
Here we got the tomahawk throwing targets and knife, throwing whichever you want to throw. This is where we’ll have to contest that and I’ll have some kind of prizes, i’m not sure what yet I used to come out here all the time with all the time I hope they’re fun, but that’s about it. This is the primary way that I manage the rankings and local SEO efforts for my clients. I found bright local most likely through an ad. They threw my way and I can honestly say it – was an immediate connection, love at first sight once I tasted bright local, I immediately became a customer and used it to this day and I’ll walk through the plan that I use and some of the major features For you in this article, so here we go, this is the homepage bright, local, local marketing made simple.
They do offer a 14-day trial without credit card again. This is a local SEO tool, so it shows rankings for Google Maps, Google, organic and it even integrates Google Adwords now into the search results. It also provides reputation, management tools, citation builders and trackers and recently they’ve added functionality to to Dooley gen for your agency. So very very cool stuff. They definitely have local marketing down.
In fact, one thing I’d like to note is: they have a blog with very good information about local search marketing industry and they consistently survey their client base and gain really meaningful insights into the concerns. The challenges and the the insights and strategies of local search, marketers, so very, very cool stuff. This is their free local search results checker tool. This is a very smart thing that software platforms are doing they’re, offering a free search tool, they’re pitching they’re catching search traffic.
By doing this, you can enter in any term here. I’d say: control, Springfield Missouri. Let’s see the map check results. This is really cool. This is really cool. It gives you a sense of what’s going on in this particular market, so these are pest control results for Springfield Missouri. This is the map. That’s page one! Here’s page two! So you see they have similar critical tool there that’s worth trying.
I just noticed that, by the way, as I haven’t use that before try all fortune, you triumph all all of our tools, free for 14 days, very good deal. They also they offer citations on a pay-to-play basis, so they sell citations in bulk offerings. I’ll say that that may be the one aspect of bright logo. I didn’t have a fantastic experience with. I did a bulk order of citations, just a little tricky, I’m sure they’ve improved the platform and the delivery that was about two years ago and they did deliver and gave customer service.
It was just some of the platforms didn’t work for my my business. Some of it was just a little bit clunky. They definitely did their best and I know they’ve improved the delivery citation. So I would say right: local wood would be a good source for citation purchasing. There Dave they’ve only improved what they’ve been doing. So, let’s get a quick. This is a nice little glimpse here. Let’s see this shot here, this is what the inside of your dashboard could look like for a particular location, bright local breaks, everything down by locations, so you could have a client with multiple locations, and you could view the you would view you can group the locations Together under the heading of the client, but essentially you would view each location as a single entity using this dashboard and then these this black left sidebar here provides you with the different reports that related to that local search location.
So I really do like how they incorporate domain authority from Moz trust flow score from SEM rush citation flow score. They do show the number of inbound links and linking domains, and then these are quality metrics there they’re definitely getting some good data. This is the Google ranking breakdown you can see. The strong green indicates a one position and the lighter green and then on down, so you can see that it’s a nice visual way to look at the progression of your ranking growth over time.
And I do like that – and there are so many several different ways to present results to clients. I find very helpful. You can white label the reports. You can send them a PDF with your agency name. You can also send them a clickable URL, again white labeled. It tracts rating bright, local tracks, ratings and reviews, and I also find that very helpful. It doesn’t seem to be a perfect tool to respond rapidly to reviews, but it’s very good for tracking review growth in getting an overall picture of your review puzzle identifying or review sites that you should focus on very helpful citations.
And it shows you the NAP errors. Name address postal code bitch, and it shows you what citations you’re missing from some of the most common and most most beneficial, and so again you can purchase citations from right, local. I really like the SEO audit. In fact, I’m going to go in so this is my client sheet here. Then you can see I’m going to go into a particular location, so I’ve clicked into one of those locations.
Now, I’m in you can see my domain Authority and you can see my my rank position search rank position. My color bar breakdown, reputation manager. I should just remove Foursquare citations. You can see our progress Aires right, local also integrates with Google, my business, of course, so it gets a review it can show. It can show visitor data to your Google, my business page. It shows data about how many photos you’ve uploaded can even compare that to your competitors.
Google, my business pages. It also integrates with Google Analytics. So you get some nice. You get some nice traffic data there. You can connect your Google and your Facebook, so more cool stuff there for management. I really like this feature here. The local search product really is thorough. This is a very thorough tool. I know there are a lot of search all that site audit tools out there. Now, but this really is it’s solid.
I like the way it gives you these poor, modest or good breakdowns for links, ranks local listings, reputation, manager, Google, my business on site SEO and social blogs, and so it really helps you zoom in on what to work on and what’s cool is you’ll get instant Improvement you’ll be able to see your improvement in real time as you work on some things that I’ve used this for on-site SEO for sure sees a broken link there, 404 air, so I’ve got little little things to work on sparse content pages.
Does mobile loading shows you page by page? It shows you the HTTP code. It shows you just this paycheck schema or not. Is there an address on the page, so the the information is really bountiful right. Local is his thorough, solid, and yet it’s it’s really. It’s user friendly, it’s it’s! It’s easy to navigate overall. Setting up a new location or new client is greatly simplified because I do have a Google my business integration.
So if you’re already an owner or manager of the Google, my business account. You could very quickly begin. The process of setting up the location there is then a little bit of work that follows in particular with this is the rank check setting up the rank, ranking report. You can see the rankings by position. You can see this or up down and I from from one report to the next. What I do like is that you can change the comparison date points, so you could set a an older date point, but sometimes honestly, I mean how much changes has happened in in seven days or eight days, especially once you’ve already undertaken it.

So anyway, you can see the search engine rankings, their breakdown, Google Maps, Yahoo. You could choose to exclude Yahoo or being altogether from your report and you might as well do so. You know varmints monthly, quarterly sprays, green products, etc, etc. Related ancillary searches that someone might be doing ie. Currently, you have to generate those on your own, and so it’s taking me time to think through and expand what my my clients should be ranking for to help us pursue. You know you can see. This is a medical facility at things like wounds and cuts and other different types of injuries and maladies that people might serve seek help with.
So this is probably local. It really is a a solid tool. Let’s look at the pricing scheme here. It is so a single business is 29 a month, the multi business. This is a plan I had ferment for a while once up to six six locations $ 49 a month and then the $ 79 plan allows up to a hunt of 50. Sorry, 50. 50 citation track reports in a hundred local search reports, so this is truly the tool, if you’re an agency, if you’re functioning, managed up to a hundred locations really really is solid, and you include Google Mobile ranked rank tracking by the way.
Adwords tracking is a slight add-on, so I really I recommend this plan. If you’re, if you’re, actually, you know, have a decent client list, it’ll only incentivize you to get out there and and sell your services more so right, local is solid. I, like you, can actually have the reports automatically emailed to yourself or to a client so really really fantastic stuff. I my hashtag that I use for my presentations is hashtag rise above the noise and Susan Finn for is my my twitter handle, I think, before I even get to this part, I should tell you just a little bit more about myself. 13 years ago I started a small business and I didn’t know anything about running business. I was in the technical field before that and I met with some women and we talked about how to run a business and then more people came and more people came and we ended up forming a thing and it was called the Women’s Business Network of southeastern Massachusetts, the Women’s Business Network of southeastern Massachusetts meets once a month and to empower women to be what they can be in business and what I learned in that process.
It’s 1314 years old now, but what I’ve learned in that process is, we all grow stronger together. If you’re starting a business, I’m going to call me last week I wrote a blog, I want everybody to see it. How do I get a blog up and she said I want everyone to read it, and so I think that’s kind of what people do they get, they get certified and they go. I did it, and so how is it that we’re going to attract people? And so that’s what we learned with the Women’s Business Network is when you would have 50 people all on your side, they’re all your Board of Directors, they’re, all your critics.
If you need a critic or they’re your cheerleaders, if you need a cheerleader, those are your people, those you’re amplifiers. Those are your zombie evangelists, your zombie, loyalists and so hold on to that as well. So that’s my guide, my vibe and my tribe go together. I am a different collaborative’he’s right now and with the she breeds balance collaborative and walpole next month, I’ll be heading over to the Norwood Space Center to work with the entrepreneurs that are heading into there.

Maybe they need to know your superpower? Maybe they need to know you love cats whatever it is, they want to know you, they will not like you and they want to trust you and so anything that we’re going to do in order to bring in traffic or to bring in on it.
Your your audience will be too bad and the way you’ll do that is that you’re going to share your stupid. How to share your thoughts, share your expertise, you’re going to engage people in that, and then at some point you want to amplify it. We don’t want to amplify your own content in your own superpower, your own zone of genius or you’re, going to want to amplify the same of your people of your tribe, of your people that are supposed to come help you with that and that’s kind of the Plan for today’s whole session is we’re going to talk about know, like trust, engage, share and amplify.
So here’s to come. Probably 10 years ago, seven years ago, I’m walking in the woods my dog listening to a podcast and just trying to learn everything I can about about a digital harmony and listen to this podcast by Marcus Sheridan he’s talking to Michael Stelzner on this quarter, like the Music at the beginning is horrible. Has anyone here heard of Marcus Sheridan you’ll check them out Marcus Sheridan? Listen to this, he wrote a book called. They ask you answer, but his whole premise is that if you can answer all of anybody’s questions on your website or on any of your platforms, wherever it is, that people are going for information, they’re going to know you’re going to like you they’re going to trust, You they’re going to engage with you and so don’t be afraid to answer those questions.
Oh, I should tell you to not say that up here I will have my slides available to you to take all your notes, but, like these general wants to for you to have on a guide line, those will be you’ll have to take pictures of the slides Or anything like I’ll, send them to you so so Marcus Sheridan had a pool company in 9th 2008 economy’s tanking. How is he going to keep all of his employees employed and how is he going to keep his business going? He writes one article.

So, where are you going to put those answers is, of course, why we’re all here today we wan na build, maybe going to build a wordpress site like that’d, be kind of cool, so once your site is up and now you’re going to put some attention to Answering the questions – maybe it’s pages – maybe it’s post-its, maybe maybe you are writing for somebody else. Maybe you some is ready for you, you put it all some place and then, where else so, okay and then you hope somebody comes to your website or you hand them your card take mine today and they go to your website.
But otherwise, how would they even know that you wrote this really great article about maximizing return on your vendor event, Susan Finn, online.Com, you got it, send it out in an email, we’ll talk more about that you’re, going to put it out on your social platforms and You’re going to talk about it as we are here at any of your networking, collaborative vents or just at the coffee shop. So now you have your website and you have your content and you’re putting it everywhere, and I’m not going to go over this too much because Lydia already did you need to have it mobile optimised and you need it to be resourceful and you want to collaborate With other people, so you’re not doing all of the work and so that you can also help amplify your tribes message and measure measure measure measure, I’m not going into analytics too much today, but there are some really great speakers coming up about analytics.
So do you have the answers? What are your answers? What are your questions you have so you know frequently asked questions. Is my favorite favorite page on any website that I’m working with with any client that I’m working with you just sit with people sit with the people that you work with sit with yourself? So with your cats and say what is the question? People are asking me all of the time those questions writing down.
Five questions, ten questions, a hundred questions writing down and accuse are what people must ask questions. What are the questions? People should be asking help them figure it out. I don’t even know that’s why we say people don’t even know that they don’t know help them know what they should know so must ask and should ask Nona, give you some examples enough cuz, otherwise you’re going to go blind from oh, my elbow.
So this is one of my larger clients, being I’m catering, best cornbread each other around, so they were very resistant. And finally, we got a great frequent life. Just sat there for a day, I’m like alright what she asked you, what she asked you, which is to listen to what they were talking about on the telephone. They said what else? What else? What else and I made each of those people in the front office keep a pad by their desk and write down? What are the questions? People are asking you, and so we came up with this site right and you don’t need to read it.
You can just know how much should I be that’s right, so they gave us short answers, and so I put them down there, and so after that, people could go to the frequently asked questions page and get some answers, and then that gave me the opportunity to Do more with those questions so now quick question: can you suggest any wedding venues? Yes, of course we can, and on the page that the other page that I showed you it would go over to their links.
We have a whole page of links, but that’s a whole nother collaborative thing right, but in this case I was, I wanted a beautiful blog. I wanted images that I could share on my other platforms and I wanted ways to to talk about what we do. So. Yes, we’ve been to all of these places, look at all the beautiful places we’ve been to, and you can also go over to our our links page and see some more of what venues we’re doing so.
There’s a link here highlighted there and then there’s here, give us a call and then or calls to action right. So they can do any of that. They can read our reviews. They can go to a look at other venues. They can go right to request a quote: that’s the money, that’s the money button and or they can just contact that the other thing I love about hashing out of frequently asked questions into a blog post.
Is that you’re getting all those yummy keywords when I’m talking too much, but you just just know that I want to get found for weddings, clambakes, barbecues, catering and those are the words I’m going to use when I’m flushing things out it’s another way. I use frequently asked questions right, so I have just an image and I can use that on Pinterest and Instagram and Twitter. I have. We already saw that page and then I can mix it up and make it look a little bit different as well.
So that’s a little bit more eye-catching and also in Google closet looks really so with that. I’m going to give you a few minutes to take out a piece of paper and write down five, ten questions that people are asking you on a regular basis. Just for yourself, you can share them if you’d like to afterwards, but I just want you to go home with some actionable content today, let’s say, let’s say three minutes: it’s probably enough.
Also, while people are writing that, if you have any questions and would have present self, I’m happy to answer, don’t forget the mustache should ask questions. Another thing to think about is in your business. People are going to want to know how much does it cost right? How much is a fiberglass pool cut? How much does social media coaching cost? How much does it cost to have somebody close to social media for you? So if you have a page that has the cost specified, should you still include in the epic youth? Where would that be a link, or so it’s a page like you have another tab, yeah.
I think you could do it either way. You know so one of the things that you’ll probably talk about in other sessions here too, but one of the things that I always want to do is keep people on my site. I want to keep them engaged so maybe they’re on one of Europe, maybe they’re on a frequently asked questions site and they didn’t notice the services tab. So maybe you could leave them there with a little lady test yeah or a button text you’re always looking when you’re writing anything don’t leave them hanging.
Give them some place else to go right from there all right so keep working on those now, and I would suggest, keep a pad of paper with you. Maybe that cool little bit for the cool little book that we got from the word camp people today keep that book with you and when you’re, just with people just like right down, they just asked me that they just asked me. That’s like write down your questions. Here’s some ideas for things to write in order for people to get to know you, like you, trust you so cost.
I mentioned it’s going to be the number one and I’m telling you when you, google, Marcus Sheridan, he’s with the sales lion used to be with River and he stole her pool. It’s custom like whatever I do is custom. So I’m going to write, I will write an article. I have right now. How much is social media services cost? How much does digital marketing services cost? Well, it could be, you know, say it depends. You could write. A thousand words here are the things you need to know that might come into play. It depends, it depends. What is the problem with hiring somebody at Oh Amy? What they do? We pay our exactly so right starting at and then it depends starting at and then there are upgrades like you just want to address question and you’re.
Getting your ideal client, yes, exactly exactly, and to that as well, don’t be afraid of sharing what problems there are. What are the problems that could arise in a photography session or, in you know, hiring or what are the problems in your industry write the article about that write, the article about? Why should I use you, know, professionals of DJ, I’m thinking weddings, DJ instead of a band? Why should I do that? Whatever? What is the best marketing automation that sit next to invest of best marketing automation, software comparison between software comparison between this and the reason that these four and then I’ll get into reviews? The reason that cost questions, brawler questions, comparisons and best of questions will drive.
People to your website with their searching is that you’re getting people who are already in the funnel they’re looking for what’s the best, what’s the cost of a fiberglass school, why should I? What’s the problems with fiberglass pools? What are the comparison? Why should I use concrete versus bad weather, so those questions means somebody’s already, looking versus writing an article, let’s say about the best, I’m using Marquis, sherry, because I was listening to him all day yesterday preparing for today, so he’s coming in my mind quicker than my Own stuff, so in his case it was you could write an article 5 best games to play in the pool with your kids.
So maybe they’re just you know, that’s a pool article. You might get some traffic, but it’s not that meaty bottom of the funnel traffic that you’re, probably going to want to have my other favorite page on any website, is reviews and testimonials. For so many reasons. But if you want to go out and buy a new dishwasher, will you just go right to this appliance store and see what they have to say, you’re, probably going to go on some plate you’re going to call somebody you’re going to go on a social plaque On what’s the best, what’s been your experience right or maybe you just maybe it’s not your friends.
Maybe you want to go and look on the site and see what other people have shared. The first thing I do when I buy any pong balls on Amazon and I went out it said which ping pong balls should I buy, so that is so important that you find those things. So here’s what I want to show you here. I can be mmm because I love and best so so what I do for them they get. Let me just tell you what an honor it is to to represent this company five star reviews across the board.
Everywhere they are yell wedding wire than not Google. Facebook people send them emails. So what I do for know, like trust, is that I actually take screenshots right off of their platforms also if they get an email or a written letter. I’ll put it in here. You may notice that I have links to write so here’s something that was written because I for a couple of reasons. Sometimes I just use the text link it right back to the knot they can go to the not they can see all of the five star reviews.
Whoever is looking for wedding vendor the other reason. Sometimes I take the text instead of the image, because I can have all these great keywords right, wedding, catering right I wanted to have almost. I want this page to come up if anybody’s looking for catering, so sometimes we put it with an image. I might showed you that on the venue’s page Facebook, so whatever you do now, not everybody has like this.
It’s just that I’ve been doing this for four years and I feel like Texas, sometimes get boring and also I want to be able to share it on platforms, and I, like images, sometimes better than text, but just know that this is one of our most powerful Pages because of the keywords and the images and that it’s building know like trust, because really when you’re writing, you want to write or you’re creating content you’re presenting yourself, there’s really two factors that you want to consider.
You want to build a know like trust of the people right, so it’s your audience, but it’s also the search engine, so everything that I’m talking about will be to satisfy those two, those two so I’ve got. I have those testimonials up on the testimonials page and now I go ahead and know often, I will also put it in a different format as a blog post. So if I used it as an image on one page, I will likely use the text on the other page again, so I still have the text and I’m not duplicating plans.
So we have it on. People are so nice every every Monday morning, their inbox is filled with people raving about what it is that they just experienced if they went to one of their events, again you’re going to have the opportunity to learn about analytics and a different and different sessions. Here. What I just want to say is that what, if and when you get to the point, that you’re using your analytics, try to set up something that is lets, you know if your efforts in these areas are paying off.
So, as I mentioned before, from bnm catering, their money button is the request. A quote. Click on request, a quote, fill out the form get to the thank you for submitting will be with you in a month will be with you shortly page. That’s my money page and I measure every time anybody gets to that page. Where did they come from? How did they get there? What page did they come in from to get to request a quote, I’m going to take a breath for a second cuz.
This is my favorite part, and I love that all of that, because you need all of that in the website before you do all of this. But if you do not think else, even if you jump to a website – and you want to reach people the people you want to reach – probably small business owners here, I mostly work with small business owners. You want to meet with the people that you want to reach the people that have already known something about you.
They know you a little. Hopefully they like you, you want them to trust you, and even if you have a list of 30 people stay in touch with them regularly. I know people like. Oh, I don’t people in their email in their new in their box, I know, but how else you going to reach it unless you call them so so I think of it like a like a plate of spaghetti. So, if you’re boiling spaghetti and you’re putting your content on the website or on your social media and you’re, putting it everywhere and you’re handing out flyers and you’re going to events, it’s like boiling a pot of spaghetti and throwing the spaghetti against the wall and see What sticks right? You don’t really know where it’s going to stick on what its going to do.
But if you take that spaghetti and you put it on a plate and you give it a little bit of sauce and you send it. But it’s like okay, this one gets the vegan sauce and this one gets the cream sauce you’re you’re, making the content for the people that already know you and like you, and have somehow met you and you’re serving it up here. I know that you’re interested because we’ve had this discussion.
Let me tell you about your next vendor event. Let me tell you how to make the most out of your next vendor event. Make it mobile optimized, make it monthly. I like monthly people like. Oh, that’s too much. I think that monthly is fine. Weekly sometimes is too much daily. I don’t know I get booked about daily, I’m thrilled because they give you those great Kindle books for cheap, figured out what works some people that might be too much and maybe they do seasonal, make it munch able.
I have a client and she’s very she she’s. So amazing, but she and she wants to give give give gifts, so her newsletters are really long and and she’s thinking like of the old-time PDF ones, or that you would get in the mail or whatever, and it’s so good. But she’ll only do it once a season and what I’d love to see her do is cut it down, make it less frequent so that people will we eat it. I like how much time are you spending looking at all that amazing content and it is amazing, content, she’s making and then measure it see, see whether everything on that time just metric.
So here’s being the catering email newsletter, you can see that it’s well branded. It’s very clear what it is here: we’ve used a testimonial again and then what I love about this right, the buttons I love buttons on the on email, marketing. Here’s again frequently asked questions. They can go and read all those right. Those are my two favorite pages. I want them to go there as much as they can, because that’s where all the good stuff is and, of course, I’m going to share one of their menus.
I have click to view and then let’s see what we’re doing, I think it just it just again shows you what it looks like in somebody’s right, quick, easy when you know what I want you to do. I want you to learn about the menu I want. You to read more frequently asked questions few more testimonies and then they always have contests by the way they have contests. They give away clambake everyone, it’s just an image yeah, so measure measure measure writing to learn about that.
But all I want you to see here is that almost fifty percent of the people who opened this email on their mobile so to the fact of this other client that I had a long time ago who just would do PDF. She wish it was just as an attachment, through her Outlook, no way to measure it who was looking at it. Who was bouncing what I also love about third-party email. This I use Constant Contact in MailChimp.
I love that people can opt out. It’s permission-based. If my content is not a value to you, I will not be offended if you I understand, I want to clean inbox as well, so you want to build your list right. I love for us again, permission-based build your list and when you’re building your list, if you’re just starting to build your list you’re in a really great position because think about this for a second, do you want to give group a the same content that you’re giving Proof being oven for them, I should have come up with an example mmm for me.
Do I want to give everybody information on vendor events or or not? Well, probably, not I know who my my contacts are in my list who have that in their business model. I don’t necessarily need that to send that to everybody on my list, so I have a segmented list for people who I know, do participate in vendor events and would make use of information on building their lists and how to get people’s names and how to stay.
In touch with people through a vendor event, plenty of these little arrows here so today, this weekend, you’re going to maybe everybody here, just kind of here’s my cards – hand out your cards. You meet people here said. Okay, if I add you to my email list: okay, thanks, if you’re in a networking group such as the women’s Network, whether she breeds collaborative or something the Norwood Space Center, one of the things they may offer you an accident, god bless, you is to access their List, and so that is gold right, so if you can just get an Excel spreadsheet from some, let’s say the Women’s Business Network and you upload that to your permission-based email marketing system and then you send out an email: hey just join the Women’s Business Network.
I see that you’re on the list, here’s what you can expect. I send out my newsletters once a month and here’s what I include and I’d love to keep you on my list, but if, for some reason this is of no value to you, here’s how you opt out if you’re on a if you’re in a group know You can do it often you can’t say if you don’t want this, they require the permission before you. Well, they were that you asked exactly well because, if you’re a they’re, the one – but so I wouldn’t do that here – well, I will, if you opt in you’ll, be offering you them an option too, but in the Women’s Business Network.
I think that it’s expected, that is a networking group. This is going to happen. Yeah yeah. I would take a list from somewhere else, yeah right. Unless there’s like a networking collaborative kind of place, I wouldn’t take you know somebody’s. You would really you want to be careful and you never want to go against that permission-based. I believe what you do if you got a list, let’s just creepy, that’s not know like trust right, that’s creepy, yeah! Now most of them do you know I would check with you.
I would check somebody who probably has better pulse on that than I it. If I were at your store – and you asked me for my email on Punk, I would expect that I’m going to get an email from you that says, welcome glad you stopped in here’s a discount. Here’s a coupon! If you don’t want to get any more mail from us click here to opt out, if I’m giving you my email address, I expect to hear from you yeah.
Why did I come here? The capture card, amazing, because you can put an opt-in of in your in this case it says Facebook page right so Facebook business page – you can put a plug in in this case. It says to receive garden tips and that is going to go directly to her list and they people who opt in on that list then get an email thanks. So much for signing up here’s what you can expect. If this is not what you expected, please opt out.
So another example of that is not maximizing your return on your defender, books, defense. So I really liked this article. I worked hard on it. I put together a lot of good tips for people who are doing vendor events. I’ve gone to so many events and people show up with their items and they’ve worked so hard putting their things together. They’re not collecting email addresses they’re, not promoting their website.
Their Facebook page is not branded and I just feel like wow. They worked so hard. I really wanted to squeeze juice out of it, so I really love this article and then I loved it so much that I ended up making a an e-book that they can download, and so this is a lead generator if you’ve heard that word for the lead Generator, and so now they can take this and it’s in a nice people, so what they have to do is click on that.
That brings them to my opt-in, make the most of your vendor event I’ll, be happy to send you my free ebook. That’s sending me just their email address in their first name and and they’ll get the same thing. Welcome here’s your book. Oh so here’s my lead generator for you guys. If you would like to have my deck as a PDF for today you can take out your phone and you can text the word Buttonwood, which is the name of my phone. I made my husband: try it yesterday, how much fun is it love the 21st century? I’m just saying and setting up that so I meet briefly talked about segments.
So another thing about segments and somebody else to talk about this a little bit more. But here’s the thing, so I wrote a few articles for this particular VN, I’m catering a newsletter. This one happens to be about drop off the phase and family dinners and 37 people opened that link, which is a fairly good number for them right. It’s a caterer! How many things do you really want to read from a caterer but 37 opened it, and I go that’s a pretty good number.
So we took those people. I was able to download that list as an Excel spreadsheet or segment them into a separate list. So now, every once in a while I sent to those 37 people something else about. Did you know that being a catering brings food right to your house, they’re bringing food to my house tomorrow? It’s a another one that I loved think about which one this was. Oh, it was an article about having a your corporate picnic ideas for your corporate picnic.
What kind of foods we can bring to your corporate picnic games? You can play in your corporate picnic. It was a it what it was saying, a little bit of a fluff one, but what I did notice was that he had a high open rate and I downloaded the people who opened it and from the email addresses you could tell. There were a lot of people who were who were on our list through corporations. Right, like at from America, asked this at that, and so what I did was.
I gave that list to Bryan’s feet of BNL catering, yeah, that to Brian Doherty, and he was able to then look and see if he recognized or didn’t recognize and don’t you know. This is how he is he he brought like a plate. He just showed up. He just filled his van like plates of cookies or sandwiches or whatever, and just showed up unsolicited. They never knew that. That was because they he had opened up something about corporate picnics that I gave him this list, but he was able to go in build know.
Like trust, engage with people and be able to get more of the corporate picnics, I do use Google Analytics for other things. This happens to be on their constant contact – email marketer. Yes, this shows which link on their newsletter got opened up. So I had like you know, picture a nice picture and something about corporate picnics for more read here. You know click here to read more and it took them to that now.
What I were working on is then, if somebody gets to that site, I’m trying to put that I would follow it on. Then I would go over to Google Analytics and I would say, see how many people that landed on – let’s say this: one family dinner of a phase actually completed all the way to request a quote: the money button. So I’m going to give you just like a minute, maybe two minutes, just kind of think in your head.
Just against you have actionable things to work on when you leave here today think or write down what kind of email segments or audience segments you might have right. So I have some that are Massachusetts. I have my different networking groups. I have women and I have vendors. Maybe you have other segments that you okay, so you can finish that up too so, like keep thinking about that so now on to the second part of where things go, have your website, email marketing is its own entity.
It’s so powerful. I wish I could hold numbers in my head return on investment of email marketing. It’s a big number, it’s big number, so social media similar be a resource, be a connector and be strategic. Don’t just throw the spaghetti against the wall figure out. How are you going to present the spaghetti on the plate and to whom to whom you will be presenting it? You want to connect with the right people.
You want to schedule so that you don’t have to think of something every single day, similar to what Livia was talking about with scheduling your blog posts, use the scheduling tools that are available on the platforms or you can use. You know something like HootSuite buffer, sprout social, to schedule, your posts and be strategic about it. Content calendars. They lean can tell you all about content, calendars, content, calendars, make life so easy set.
It don’t forget it because you still want to engage but set it up. So that you can, I think, and it makes time it makes your work so much easier. Of course, measure measure measure measure so on social media, and this is for being. This might be hard for you to see so reason to yellow parity. So this was a post last September. Actually around this time, and it’s just such a busy weekend last weekend actually was one of their busy or weekend’s.
You think it would be all summer long, but September 13th was one of them things like 20 events. They were catering and they were at all different locations. So in this case on in the air and we’re heading to Arrowhead acres and up special joining Terry little farm in a moment, we’re going to over look at the air two firemen in Kerswell Connecticut and it’s having each of those organizations. Because I know that they are our collaborators, we know that we’re featured on their site, we have them featured on our site, and we know that there’s a lot of back and forth that they are our try, and I want them to know that.
We’re shouting out to them and I want them to shout out to us if possible, it’s people are different with their social media and their business, but here’s something they don’t again. You’ll learn more later, and this is just so. You can see if I’m engaging with Terry doodle because they’re on our site or overlook Arrowhead acres. I want I’m doing it because I have looked at our Google Analytics and I have noticed that we’re getting traffic off of their websites and I want them to know that we’re noticing them and we can do the back and forth.
So if I look at referrals on my Google Analytics what brought traffic to our website over a month, let’s say it so Facebook sent 78 25 percent of the referrals. That’s not all of the traffic, just the referrals that came in from other sites with from Facebook, but then oh and then another so that was mobile, Facebook in the number so and then Thai regional farm. We had 31 people come to our site off of the Terry little farm site, with 16 people come from the Arrowhead acre site, but not it’s driving.
Some traffic Yelp is wonderful for us and then support Adams is another, so the yellow ones are all referral websites and then the blue ones are more social links. I pay attention to that because that’s where I’m going to be strategic and spend more of my time and energy. This is a personal one that I wanted to get some. I wanted to help sheep breeds get a little bit of traction for something that they are were we’re trying to get more business owners in to do the Zen retreat.
And if you know, anybody who needs like a space for a half day or a full day. Retreat this place is amazing, it’s in Walpole Massachusetts, beautiful, and so I it’s myself because I can be back in that area. I can be an influencer, so I didn’t do it from my business page. I did it from my personal page. I tagged Jennifer Pell Grant who is the owner so that she would notice – and I tagged she breeds balance and wellness so that if people knew where to go for more information and then I gave them her website, so this is how this is it.
This is my this is my tribe. This is what I do and it helps it helps my collaborators and it helps me because then people can say: oh do you know anywhere, I’m like yeah. Do I’m a connector? That’s my superpower hours all over the place, but I’ll explain so being am catering went, is a part of the United Regional Chamber of Commerce, and to that I wanted to get a little bit of just a little social stuff right.
So what I did here was, I posted a picture, and the picture was that we were at the sky. Rock were worried that a host of the United Regional Chamber event, so I tagged sky rock brewery. I tagged the United Regional Chamber of Commerce, okay, so that’s pretty good. I wanted to get some traction on that. What I also did was – I went back in as Susan Finn. Instead of you know, catering and I tabbed my friends, Trisha white and Ja, lank Jack lank is the president of United Regional Chamber.
Tricia white. Just knows everybody on the earth, and so I wanted them to notice that I did that because I wanted them to share it on their social sites, and so they did, and so that particular post by 1500 views and it got a good amount of engagement. 2067. Pretty good Facebook is ridiculous. That I mean just do what you can but try together. So this is another one. I have this tiny little Easton range in Easton and it’s like it’s like seven people kind of well into their 70s, really trying to keep this alive.
They’re doing an amazing job doing what they do in the community, but clearly Facebook is not there. So I post a little bit and of there’s 16 followers or times they. 8833 15:21 1600 views on this one host. So I went back and said: Wow 1600 views on that one post 1600 views was because Carolyn pol was on the board of the Grange shared it and she shared it in a couple of different groups and she is well-connected in town everybody that she’s on every Committee in town and she runs every kind of everything so Carolyn shared it and it got 1,600 fused with 50 followers.
So keep that in my bull, your influencers. This is just really for you to remember to schedule. I can’t I can’t even tell you how much easier everything is when your schedule do. We have time for action, there’s some time for action all right. So here what I’m going to do is have you take one 90 seconds and make a list of who you know? Who would be your loyal? Your loyalists, your zombie, loyalists, who do you know that’s connected, has a lot of followers or their business.
That’s a lot of followers make a list who you can collaborate with whether it’s on social media or – and I don’t know if I get into this later – you can – I do but really like who can write for you and then you can spotlight them all right. So Beth Beth chaos is a writer and she just wrote an article for another collaborative member for me, so she highlighted Carrie. She gave me the content it’s on my site, so I’m going to shout out hey look at this article that Beth wrote about Carrie and they can also share it on their platform.
So with one article you’re getting three times the juice and then we’re going to hope too that each of our other people in the collaborative also share that so how much juice can you get out of everything? Give that some thought, even if you don’t write it down now, really think about that. How can you build, who enjoys your vibe right, where’s your trial and then the third tenant to what I had talked about before was the in person and a lot of what I just talked about.
So where are you doing that like on Facebook you’re putting a post out there and then sharing one of the so the first thing I do all the time is getting on my website somewhere and the reason I do that is so that’s always their number. One number two so that I have content on my site right all those yummy keywords and also then I can take it and drive people here, she’s such a care taker. So I always do it and also then I can measure it.
I can measure content on traffic to my content on my site, easier than I can assure anywhere else number one number two if by if I am driving pee. Thank you. Even if I, when I’m driving people to my site, to say to read this. Oh, let’s see what Carrie and Beth are up to, I’m also going to have links and buttons that are going to try to. I love Yelp, but I have heard other bad things. You generally kind of stay in touch. Please stay in touch so whatever that means to you. Maybe it’s email marketing, maybe it’s tagging them in a Facebook post. Maybe it’s sending a message. Hey saw this article, I thought of you. What do you think of this? Like just stay in touch with your with your tribe, so these are the tribes that I’m in WordPress is kind of new.
To me, I went to a lean, gave a talk and I went to the meetup in Rhode Island. I think it was last month or a month before and my goodness, if there’s some WordPress meetups they’re, the one I went to was how can I think, and then I just saw that there’s one in New Bedford that I’m hoping to get to when I move To Westport next month, but she’s just sitting in a room with like-minded people and learning I’ve just been such a junk people learning Norwood Space Center I mentioned is going to have collaborative workspace and shared workspace.
Like that’s awesome, she breeds balance and wellness studio. The women’s business or in social media divas is a group of women that got together for expressly what I’m talking about now. How can we learn from each other and grow with each other, so we would maybe go to a conference like this together and somebody would go to the one next door, what I know and then we would share. What did you learn? What was your takeaway, or can somebody look at this article that I wrote and let me know like, would you change it? What does it look like? Oh damping up my website.

So for them it may be easier. Some people are more tech than written. The other thing is so she just didn’t event this weekend and some people did that and they got right away. The automated email that you guys look at other people didn’t and what they did was they signed her clipboard and there were three email addresses. I could not read and they bounced when she sent that to me right so here people, you know that they’re using the right, hopefully they’re putting it in and it works out right other ways.
People have done it download my ebook get a free coupon skip. You know scheduled me for such-and-such or QR codes as well yeah. How do you get a number two? That’s your constant contact! Oh yeah! Well, that’s part of the that’s just part of their service, but if you’re using constant contact, it’s just something you can do. If you have constant contact, it’s on build my list in fatality, but it could be yeah, but I have not seen yeah.
I do use MailChimp for two clients, three clients, but neither I haven’t even searched in there disdainful text to join them, for maybe you see it a lot like it, but like the ballpark right to like I go to the Fenway and sometimes they’re, like Texas Owen, Says you know such and such a number of intense for whatever, who you pictures, yeah yeah yeah, is that more user friendly now than the QR code, I feel like the QR code is kind of like a minute left.
I yeah, I don’t know many will be used to QR code yeah. You know I gave it to my vendor in case she had people that ya know. I don’t know anyone. So if I’m in a collaborative situation as I am with with bath or with other people, we’ve already talked about it, I’m going to you’re going to she’s writing for me and we’re collaborating, and so I have it on my site and then she’s going to share It on her social media and write with being him catering, let’s say with Arrowhead acres.
They don’t do a lot right. I come up. You know what does do, though, bnm catering amazing photographers, whoever always talking about photography the photographers real and mostly know how to use the social media. So often a photographer will do a wedding. They’ll write a blog with the beautiful photos and then they’ll put it up on their site and say: here’s. You know so-and-so’s wedding and here we’re all the vendors and they tag them on Twitter and on Facebook.
I do know, but no – and I don’t even know the one that photographers who want a little bit, who want their photos shared right, so Tiffany choice. Just did it last week for a vnm, I didn’t know her. I didn’t know she was at this wedding at Camp Hoffman, but she posted and she tagged, bnm, catering and so being a medium shared it and now being M catering is going to put it on a blog of what, because she gave us permission to use her Photos and eventually it’ll go on our email and it’ll go on our Instagram and our Pinterest yeah.
So she with that little effort right tagging at the nm catering going at clambake. Oh, I’ve got all that juice just from one other company, and hopefully other people are looking as well any other questions when you take a picture and you put it on your site or something and somebody else uses your picture, do you do you get? You know? I mean: can they just do that or are they supposed to yeah? I used something on the website.
If it’s not one of our pictures, I’d give them credit. Oh yeah, more file or files, a good source for pictures. I use Peck cells, rge photos and you can search by topic and put them there with permission for you utilize them. Sometimes they just would like to know how you so I’m an artist, and I use that time to help collate a bunch of photographs, push them all together and create a painting from it, and they like to see this for images packed cells, PE X, Els, castel’s, Con three pictures – you can put keywords in so that’s a really great question, my supposed to search engine optimization when you’re putting your images up on your website before you load them up to your website.
You want to give it a name right instead of image o for one give it an image, maximize your vendor event, one and then, when you upload it to your site, usually WordPress will give you the option to have alt text so you’re going to also use One of your keywords in there maximize your vendor event, and then it actually gives you a place to put a description as well best practices for maximizing your vendor event for small business owners, though these are the keywords that I want to get found on, and so, Though that was a really good question: yeah goes until like search engine optimization because we don’t see it so.
Actually the alt text, though, is I think, and I’m not not my world, but I believe the alt text is very helpful. Slash, maybe you’ve been required in some cases, because if you are a vision, impaired person on a website, it’s going to read to you. So it’s going to say image all for one or it’s going to say maximizing your vendor event. I also am a big fan of the watermark making sure that your watermark or your website or something is on and what’s on a picture that you don’t want somebody else to use.
I guess when I said. Maybe it’s not really a watermark. What I’m talking about just saying, maybe just put your logo on it, and you can like fade out that you can fade it out if you want to so I don’t know if I’ve actually used the right word, but basically have it branded. Who is helping with your digital business footprint?
I want to cover some very simple editing and getting some things like music into it. So here I already have the program installed. If you want more details, you could always go to audacity website. They have this great page on mixing and narration with background music, you can google that and read much more details which we’re professional than I’m going to do.
What I’m going to do first is make sure that I have already plugged in my microphone. That’s really important. I audacity if I plug the mic in after I open it. Sometimes it gets a little messed up, so I’m going to plug it in and then open the program. When I do that, I can click this little thing here to choose the mic. I want you can see that my computer’s like well, I don’t know you probably wan na record it out of the mic, that’s built into the computer right and I’m like.
No. I want to use this microphone here, the one that sounds a little bit better. So if you are plugging a microphone and make sure you pick the right thing now that I’ve picked the microphone that I want to use, assuming I plugged one in, maybe I just want to use the one that’s already built into the computer. What I like to do is do a quick little test to make sure the volume is right. I usually do that just by clicking in here right above the mic area, when I click it, it’ll start showing me in live real time, a visual representation of this.
If it looks like super hot super loud I’ll, adjust it with this little guy I’ll move it down a little bit. I can’t do that right now, because I’m using the same microphone for recording this article. So, who knows what would happen, but I would go up and down if I start recording like say by hitting the record button and if these Peaks that you’re seeing look really really tall if they’re, if they’re cracking the top and bottom they’re like it just stood There then, I’m probably want to go back and make them a little bit smaller, because in in reality of that that sound, it’s called clipping the sound of my volume being so loud that it hits the top.
What will make a little bit of distortion? It’s usually not a very pleasant sound for readers. This is just a test, so let’s just use it well. Here I am recording. Did you see how easy that was by the way I plug in a mic? I opened the the program. If I want, I kind of adjust the volume a little bit and hit record and bam, I’m doing this in real time now. The the obvious thing is that when I want to stop, I can stop okay great now.
I have this hole thing here. If I want to, if I want to see the whole thing at once, I could do this view fit in window, and now I can see by seconds 5. 10. 15. 20. I just did about a 40 second article um. I have a few options here that are really pretty simple. I I’m talking about a situation here where you might want to work in some music. So before I get music in here, I want to make my volume a little bit more.
Even you see how, in parts of it where I got quieter, it didn’t go up much at all and it times where I was louder. It was kind of a purely big. So I like to do something called compression now, if I hit control a it’ll select the whole thing, I could also do that just by clicking the track, and you see it’s a little darker – that’s it’s kind of like highlighting words in word. I’m saying hey. I want to do something to everything I just selected.
If I want, I can also choose a selection tool up here and kind of select different parts, but I want to I want to do something to this whole thing. I want to compress this whole bit, so I’m going to select the whole thing: go to effects, go to compressor. Now, compressor might be a weird term, for you might not be used to it. You might see a whole lot of scary things here. Well, if you want more details about ideal ways to adjust this, remember that that page I got here, it kind of has some suggestion things a lot of times.
I just leave it as default. It’ll default to the thing I did last time, I’m just going to hit OK and show you what happens, read the visual representation, all of a sudden, it’s a little more. Even that part that was a little quieter, there’s a little louder. The part that was really loud sometimes is even a little bit quieter and the whole thing sounds a little more even tone. Well, that’s great! That means that I can put music underneath it not be worried about the places.
I was talking, quiet, every being really quiet. Okay, it’s a it’s, a really simple, really easy little thing to do, select all compress now. What I want to do is get some music or some sound effects or something in here. So what I’m going to do is go to someplace, where I have some music. Well, here’s a weird piece: I’m going to drag this file into my audacity program and you see what would happen.
Is it literally dragged it in as a whole separate track underneath it? This is everything I just did remember a second ago we were kind of zoomed in a little bit more, so it took up more of the whole screen, but now this new track is playing underneath. So if I hit play you would the things I said and at the exact simultaneous moment you know I could say it 15 seconds. You would hear that track underneath it now, I’m going to zoom out a little bit, I’m doing, control and holding the rollerball in the mouse.
That kind of zooms me in and out. I, like that, a lot you can see that this audio track is way longer than my 40 seconds of talking. So I probably don’t want the whole thing. I probably want to cut something I might want to cut something of my narration and my own might want to cut something of this audio too. So, let’s, let’s do it one at a time. Let’s say I only want that first 40 seconds of the music.
Assuming that that’s exactly the part I want I’m going to highlight it. I can only do that because I chose the select tool here. First, I’m going to highlight what I want and when I’ve highlighted I’m just going to hit the delete button on the keyboard BAM, it’s gone, wow how easy and simple now again to make it easier. I can kind of zoom in and out remember with my mic control, rollerball thing, okay! So now here’s my talking, here’s this part now I might still have parts up here where I’m like.
Oh, I really want to to delete this part. Maybe this is all a mistake. Same thing right, I can highlight I can hit delete. I can do that. However much I want no say that the music really starts getting really good right here at about this twenty second moment and I’m like oh, I really wish my audience could kind of hear some of that music right there. Well, what I like to do is split. The track I so I put my cursor where I want it to go, and then I can go to edit clip boundaries and split you see.
It also tells you control, I will do it. I use control. I so much more read what happens when I hit that split. Well, barely anything you could see there’s a little bit of a line at now between this. That means that I’m going to zoom in you can see this stuff on. One side is different than the stuff on the other side. Now, if I want to accentuate that, if I want to make that a little clearer, I’m going to click up here to these tools and I’m going to click this one, that’s a time shift tool that essentially means I can drag stuff around.
Let me let me show you what happens when I drag when I, when I try to click and drag on this bottom track with the time shift tool. The whole thing moves now. I can’t I can’t select things the way I used to right. If I want to select something I to go back to the Select tool highlight it, but if I want to move it around, I click time shift tool. Now I can move stuff. Well, you see how this whole track is moving.
Well, I just split this top track, so now I can move the in different places. Does that make sense that they they get dragged separately? There they’re thought of as whole different clips, and I can be really useful when I’m trying to time my words with my music, so I’m like ooh there’s this really interesting part of music. I wanted to come right there and there’d be a little bit of silence, in my words as it as it comes back in that can be really really sweet right.
Okay, so so that’s easy enough right! We’re splitting tracks with ctrl I or edit clip boundary split. We’re moving them around using the time shift tool. Okay, so now this might be almost really good. This almost B might be worth me, exporting and and letting other people listen to accept. My volume probably isn’t levelled out, for instance, this remember volume is a feature of how up and down it is how close it is to the top.
This looks kinda loud in relation to my talking, which also is about the same light. I probably want that music a little bit quieter, now, there’s a few different ways to do that, I’m going to show you the way I like to I like to use this envelope tool, I’m going to click that, and you see the second. I clicked it all of a sudden things. Look a little different here. It’s like what’s going on. What I do is I is, I click at a point in a track and you see what it did.
Is it made this itty-bitty little dot there after I click there, I can adjust the volume of the things before that and after it up. So I clicked that so now, that’s kind of like a pivot. Now I’m going to click in a space before it and read what happens? I can kind of manually adjust everything before and after that pivot and remember smaller means quieter. So what I’m doing here is. I can make another pivot here.
I can make this part in the middle kind of louder if I want so, it feels a little bit more accentuated. Remember because the speaking stopped at that moment and then when I start talking again, I can drag another one and everything after that pivot point will get quieter. I can you know you: can you can see, I can kind of use it to fade a little bit to make it a little more interesting if I’m like.
Oh that’s still too loud like again I’ll, just drag it again and kind of even that out. This is a lot of playing around. I know it kind of looks weird here, but I in real life, I’m I’m constantly playing back the whole time to hear what it sounds like um. The easiest way to do that is to just click this top bar. So if I’m like, I want to hear what it sounds like starting right here. You click the start that bar and it’ll start playing back right at that moment.
Now you, you can’t hear it because of the setup on my computer right now, but it I swear. It’s there it’s playing it, so I’m like is that quiet enough I’ve hit play no I’ll, make it a little quieter and I come back and I grab that and make a little letter whatever now remember. If I want to select something I got ta go back to that select tool, I can still go back, select things on one track on either track.
You remember, click there to select the whole thing, and I and I could still do various effects to it. Even after I’ve done that it’s called the envelope tool, remember I I kind of think of it as a adjust the volume tool. That’s that’s the the most basic things I find myself doing all the time. I record I compress I split, I move and I adjust the volume with envelope. Ok, let’s say this is perfect.
Let’s say it’s exactly how I want I’m going to go back to the fit in window. Ctrl, F, just to kind of see the whole thing here. So I know now that I’m going to have one audio track where the music keeps going after the voice ends it’s about 50 seconds long say that’s fine, great! Well, there’s two different ways to save in audacity. If I hit file save project as I’m saving this whole project as an AUP file, which only audacity can open, I’m essentially saving this as something that I can come back to later.
So if I’m like call this like test for article, then I can, I can say this walk away and come back, but I can’t email that test for article AUP file to someone they they can’t open it up and be like. Oh I’m like grooving to this cool thing. You may know it’s not listenable by them, yet I need to export this first into an audio file that can be shared. So that’s actually not that hard. I’m going to go to file and export you notice.
Export is different than save right that that word is on purpose. Export means I’m going to make this, so someone else can listen. Now, I’m going to have some choices. The first option here is dot wave. Now that’s going to sound like really good quality, but it’s also going to be this mega huge. It’s going to be hard for me to share with anyone and if you’re doing this from my class, you might have to upload this file somewhere.
That doesn’t let you have too many file that might not let you upload a really really huge file, so I’m going to click the save as type and pick one of these often I choose August. You might not have heard of that. It’s kind of an alternative version of mp3, but you might have obviously heard of an mp3. Let’s it. Let’s just try. Let’s try the mp3 want to kind of see what happens. I’m going to go, go back and put it on the desktop.
I’m just going to call it test for article again now you do see it gives me some options you could play around with it’s always worth seeing. I I think, of the the bigger this number, the better it’s going to sound. Even a 320 kpbs’s isn’t going to sound it. Is it going to be the hugest file so going to be much smaller than that wave? So I might as well pick the big one I’m going to leave the rest of that hit.
Okay. Now, when I hit save it’s going to be like hey wait, these are all going to be mixed down to two straight and don’t worry about that yeah! That’s! That’s fine! Okay! Now it automatically here is filling in some of this info with the info of the song. I import it. Well, that’s that’s not right! I don’t want. When someone plays my new mp3 file in in iTunes or something I don’t want it to say. Oh, this is a truck by combustible Edison, it’s called vertigo.
Well, no, it’s not! This is a track by me, so I’m going to hit clear, clear all that out fill some stuff in here that works. Um, you know track title is test for a article. If you don’t have an album title or a track number or whatever that’s fine, I sometimes think it’s kind of cool to keep track of the stuff. I don’t know I I do like audio test it so then, later on, if I’m like man where’s that audio test – and I have a some program open that I’m using to listen to music, I use when a up I can search when they up for the Genre audio testing – oh there, it is I’d comment whatever, whatever leave the rest of this hit.

Videos are truly an awesome way to get the point across. Any type of content from your business is important!
Just big caveat, the stuff that I’m talked about here is not going by any means into the enough detail about any of the things I’m going to talk about. So if you only read this article, that’s not going to be very good for you.
So what you should do to approach this topic is first read the articles read the articles not necessarily and not art in that order, for some people, that’s the easier way to do it. For me, I always when I was an undergrad found that I didn’t really understand anything that I was reading until I heard the lecture about it. So whatever order works for you, but just while you are do while you’re confused just keep doing that.
But, more importantly, don’t get stuck doing that because you need to just get started. You just need to start writing putting things on paper and get going the more time you give yourself writing the better and the more opportunities you have to put the the essay aside and come back to it, the better because then you’ll be seeing it with fresh Eyes, you’ll be kind of seeing it like another person would see it and that helps you catch mistakes.
Speaking of talking of other people, catching mistakes talking about it with someone a friend someone else in the class, even if you can corral a pet house plant or you know worst case scenario of roommate, you know buy him a six-pack of beer put them on the Couch tell them to remain quiet until you are done talking to them about the essay and then give them the beer do not give them their first. That will then they will want to help, and that will not be good anyways.
That’s all general advice. Let’s talk a little more about Holly, so for Holly. The thing that you need to remember at you know no matter what we’re talking about is that there’s sort of ultimate principle, the ultimate justifier for him. Is this idea of a I don’t know why I did it this way? It’s a mutually beneficial exchange. Right so remember the whole I dia also. He calls us a voluntary exchange, but the whole idea is that the market system is presumably justifiable because it can satisfy people’s needs, allow them to mutually benefit each other by engaging in market exchanges.
If a salesperson is engaging in activities that undermine the possibility of the thing that makes the whole system, okay, then that sales persons not doing the right thing. So this is the ultimate thing to think about when it comes to Holly right, all of the other stuff. The the three conditions, the the knowledge, condition, the non compulsion one and the rationality one all of those are just ways of him, trying to spell out how it is that we would go about ensuring that there’s a decent shot at a mutually beneficial exchange.
Okay, so when I ask you, how is it that selling to customers and selling to businesses differ? Your first thought should be well, maybe in some ways the sort of conditions of a mutually beneficial exchange could be different. If we’re talking about the business-to-business case or the selling direct to the consumer case right, so that’s where your thinking should be – and you know, but don’t just kind of stay there.
You want to move to thinking about in detail how that might be playing out here. So you want to make sure, of course, like everything you know that you’d come up with some examples right and really this actually might be a good thing to do up front because, like I said you know what they just start, writing advice. You also really don’t want to get yourself too wedded to a particular thesis at the beginning, because you know if you’re working on it and you think, oh okay, here’s how it’s going to go but then you’re like oh there’s, this huge problem.
Well, what you want to do that in that case is just keep what you have and just go back to beginning, say: instead of saying: I’m going to show this works, just say: I’m going to show doesn’t work totally fine, so you don’t want to. You know sort of nail yourself down at the beginning to like a particular answer, but you do want to commit yourself pretty early on. I think to a couple of examples, so just give yourself a good nice example that you can work with on the consumer side and a good nice example that you can work on the business side, because that’s going to sort of be, you know the way that You’re going to navigate this okay so come up with some examples.
Make sure you spell them out, don’t have to take a lot of words, but just make sure it’s clear to the reader. What’s going on all right, so then you want to think about the knowledge condition, each of the conditions and yeah sort of start thinking about how these things might be flexible. So remember that it, for example, with the knowledge condition right. He ends up saying that the information that you’re supposed to give as a sales person, you know kind of your general obligation to the ordinary to the consumer is to give sort of something like what a reasonable customer.
We need to know. Okay and remember he I mean he doesn’t say this, but this is kind of my gloss on it and I say it in the other lectures. You know it’s it’s the who counts, as the reasonable customer is going to depend. I hope this is going to be in frame slowly getting better at these articles, but, as you can see not quite great at it, yet the reasonable consumer is going to depend on the like the industry.
You know, and and just the sort of you know the average customer right, so you know the average person that walks in the door so to use an example of use use elsewhere. If your work, it like a specialist um, say computer store that sells to people who do computer game, you know computer gamers right they’re going to come in with a whole bunch of background knowledge that you can’t expect, if you’re just selling computers to somebody who walks In off the street, so again it’s going to depend on sort of who you’re dealing with, and I hope you can already start to see that the average customer right in the consumer case might be a bit broader.
So the things you’re going to have to tell them to make sure you’re doing your duty are going to be sort of. You know a lot bigger, there’s a lot more things, you’re going to need to make sure that the average consumer is aware of, but in a lot of cases when you’re selling to a business. If you’re dealing with like a purchasing agent there, the there are the people that wrote the spec, you know for the request, for you know, bids or and proposals, so they are likely to have a lot of background knowledge, they’re likely to probably even know more about Their needs and about the kind of product they need than you do as the sales person.
So in that case the realm of what you might what you need to make sure that they’re aware of could be different. Okay, just pointing to one possibility possible way. This could go again. What I want to see is you try to spell out the details of that and you know, as you go through, that I guarantee there are some possible problems that will probably come to mind. You try to say what they are. Try to solve them if you can’t solve them, that’s fine, too.
What I care is that you are thinking these things through and trying to be. You know as careful as you can and is open my news. You can to try to see like okay. Well, we could go this way, but this is going to have those problems or we could go that way. This is going to have those problems. That’s what I’m looking for! I’m not looking for you to be right or anything, because the more important skill here to build is the ability to think these kind of things through non compulsion condition.
You could come up with similar things where I remember a agent. You know in many cases, when you’re selling to a company right you’re dealing with a purchasing agent who themselves has a manager and they have a manager. There are all sorts of internal company policies. So what might count as compulsion? You know, like pressure sales tactics in the consumer case, that would not be okay, because you, you know, in that case you would be undermining the person who’s, basically, the only decision-maker, but if a company has all sorts of kind of internal checks and policies and a Manager that has to sort of sign off on things.
It might be more permissible to play a bit more hardball in in the selling of the company case. No, if you, if you’re, going the way that I’m suggesting you know where the need to avoid compulsion is sort of alleviated somewhat by the fact that they have. You know a manager and policies and also they’re not as susceptible to to pressure right. They’re working for a company, they have the entire company’s finances behind them.
They have a lot of other options in many cases, so those kind of things might diminish the amount of compulsion that or start diminish the. What would count as unacceptable compulsion and the selling to the business case, like I would say like I started to say, though, if you go this direction, you want to make sure that you say where the limits are still going to lie right. So, for example, it would not be okay to kidnap the purchasing manager or the purchasing agents cat and hold it hostage, and you know she signs off on the deal right.
It would not be okay to go after somebody personally or any of those kind of threats, but the ordinary sales tactics that we might think are not okay in the consumer case, because it’s just that one person making that decision right there on the spot. That might be different when it comes to this again. What I want you to do is think these kind of possibilities through and go with it all right same idea of with the rationality condition: you’re, not just dealing with one person again you’re dealing with multiple people.
So the sorts of things that might undermine a person’s rationality in the customer case. It’s where the ordinary consumer case might not be the same in the business case. So if you think of it as like, what do I, as a sales person need to make sure, is going on with my customer in order for me to be ethical? It’s you know it’s kind of like if, if you’re selling to you know, I could save an older person who might not be as cognitively able as a younger person right in if you’re selling to that kind of person, and you want to be ethical you’re going To have to really kind of make sure that you’re really careful not to be sort of pressuring them or doing things that cause them to be irrational, whereas maybe a younger person who has who you know hasn’t had sort of age-related cognitive degeneration.
That person, the younger person, you don’t need to be as careful and you could see that sort of same sort of thing applying in the business case. So those are the kinds of things that you want to think about. There’s I guarantee you a whole bunch of different things. You can come up with here be creative. If you want, you can use any of the ones I just mentioned, as I said in the prompt it’s best to you’re, going to, as I said, the prompt you’re going to need to make sure you cover all of these.
When you express a which is explain, you know sort of Holly’s view, but then, when you get to the pot to the interpreting part, you can talk about problems that arise from multiples of the multiple ones of these like these comprise seized some of the same kind Of things that came into mind for me as differences in for these two conditions, the knowledge non compulsion condition in the rationality condition.
Those might you know are close enough together that you might want to talk about the two conditions together, whereas some of the things that apply to the knowledge condition don’t might not translate as well as to as to those other two. And what you want is to be able to go into as much depth as possible, not cover just like here’s 20 different things. I don’t want 20 different things. One thing done really well is much better than five things done less well, so hopefully that helps this.
Should be interesting, there’s a lot of different ways to go. Just make sure you give yourself a really nice solid foundation. Explain what these things are. Upfront and you’ll be good to go when you turn and when you turn to working through some examples. As long as you make sure that you just explain all your all of the possible ways, this kid could play out all right hope that house

So I’m going to go through a few of the specs right here and then we’re going to jump on to Facebook and actually go through and create the Instagram ads because Facebook they bought Instagram a few years back And then they just kind of implemented the whole Instagram advertising platform into the Facebook, Ads manager, And so we’ll show you guys how to set that up.
So real, quick guys, We just want to cover some specs on setting up your Instagram ad. So if you go here, I just did a quick, google search. I’m saying like Instagram, add Video links, because you could do images, you could do multiple images, So you can like swipe through like you’re doing on Instagram right or you can even do article It’s like you can see this little. I think it’s bla la land koala lion article now you see like different Placement, so instagrams stories see the specs.
So if you’re, using a article just on the Instagram newsfeed right here, You can see the article length it has to be one to 60 seconds. Okay, so it’s longer than that, they won’t actually allow you to run the ad on Instagram. Okay. So then they come come down here and show you some different technical requirements. So if you go to facebook.Com or what I would do is I would just google Instagram, add article length or something like that, and it was the first search result.
That’s how I kind of found this page right now. We want to go through and check out the Instagram stories, because for those of you guys who would use Instagram, you know you’ve got the feed and Then they kind of copied snapchat a few years back or maybe a year. So I can’t wear the exact time frame, But you’ve got the stories at the top Okay. So it’s pretty cool because you’re going through clicking through your stories, You can actually show up an ad right there and just you know it’s it’s a little bit more in in people’s face, I guess so Kind of cool.
But if you look at this, you can only have a article for 1 to 15 seconds right, so you want to probably shoot a different article based off of where the placement is and make it specific to what’s actually happening and Anyway. So I just want to hit that really quick. Now, Let’s jump over to Facebook And I’m going to show you guys how to go through and get into the ads manager and set up these ads on Instagram right.
So we’re going to either come over here to the ads manager Under the Explorer tab, on the left, hand, column or you come up here to the deck, drop-down right, arrow and going to say, create ads. Okay, so we’re going to cut coming here. It’s going to take us into the Facebook Ads manager and we’re just going to do start over and, Let’s just say, you’re at the initial A Center that kicked me in right into crate, an ad but let’s say we’re starting completely from scratch.
So we’re going to go through and Let me just exit out some of these things so we’re going to go through and create a new campaign all right, So we’re going to say, create a campaign and it’s going to first ask us: What is our marketing objective? Okay, so just like Facebook, This is the same exact thing, but it’s for Instagram. Okay, so, like what objective do we want to Accomplish? Do you want people to read our article? I want people to click to our blog or our website.
You want to generate leads like what do we really want to get at okay, so for this example, Let’s just say we want people to click to our website or a blog, so we’re going to click on traffic for it — here And then we’ll just give It a quick name, then, whatever you want, but I’m going to say: Instagram, demo, Okay and so we’ll hit continue there, And then we could give this ad set an a. This. Is we’re going to go through and choose the target who we want to actually Target, and this is where we’re going to tell Facebook that hey, We don’t want it to just show up on Facebook.
We wanted to show up on Instagram or show up on Instagram and Facebook. You can choose both or choose one or the other. Okay And we’ll show you guys how to do that here in a second, so we’re going to say: Instagram Advertising, demo, okay, just type that in right there, real, quick and So where he come down, we’re going to choose the audience right for right now, I’m I Don’t know, let’s just say, we’re we’re going to target New York City, okay, New York City.
Let’s see it pop it right there, New York, New York, Okay, so that we could do Let’s say We’ll: do a ten-mile radius within New York see nine million people and then we could go and target. Let’s say we’re doing a 25 to 65 and people that, like basketball, okay, so now this is going to drop down to 1.8 million and Then what we’re going to do. This is where the whole Instagram Advertising placements comes into play, where you want to make sure that you’re choosing this right, so Facebook by default is going to say automatic play Smits and it’s going to show up on Every possible place that Facebook can show your ads.
So Facebook, newsfeed facebook, Messenger, Instagram instagrams stories their audience network, There’s a whole bunch of different options. But what you want to do you want to specifically target either the instagrams stories or the Instagram newsfeed. So we want to click on edit placements Come down, and this is kind of cool guys like, although Instagram is pretty much primarily used on your mobile phone, you can actually determine what device like, if you want to say, hey mobile, only or Desktop only or what I would probably do is just leave it as all devices Just because it’s probably not going to be a lot of people on desktop that are going to be going through and searching for Instagram.
But who knows it can happen? Ok, so now what we’re going to Do is what we, what we can do is go through an uncheck all of Facebook. We can uncheck all of audience Network uncheck, all of messenger home and we just choose Instagram feeds. Ok! So now, if we come back over here, We remember if we go to the Instagram feed, we can have a article for up to 60 seconds long, all right, Whereas with if we do the stories We have to do it, at least it has.
It can be a maximum of 15 seconds. Okay, so based off your creative, like whether you’re using a article or image, You could still use an image right. It’s it’s not a problem, But if you’re going to go through and say you want to show the article on your stories and on the news feed, It has to be able to match both of those so like it has to be less than 15 seconds. And if it’s longer, then it’s not going to be able to show up on the stories.
It’s only going to be on the news, feed. Okay. So sometimes, if you’re really going to get detailed into your advertising on Instagram, maybe what you want to do is shoot a different article for the Instagram story. That’s less than 15 seconds. Okay, It’s kinda just like more of a quick hit and then The news feed. You can have a little bit longer article if you’re like, let’s say you’re in real estate and doing an open house And going through and showing that, whereas with stories, If you’re doing an open house, maybe you just got your camera up to your face and say: Hey Jason, We’re up here We’re doing an open house on this day.
Hope to see you there swipe up, because you can actually have them swipe up and click the link And I’ll send you more of the details. Okay, So those are kind of things worse like on your newsfeed. If you have 60 seconds, you can give a little bit more Run-through of the actual whole whole home there. So that’s kind of the differences here For this example. We’ll just choose them both and you can’t so guys get this.
You can go through and choose Instagram and click on Facebook and choose multiple Choose all these different platforms Or you can create a an advertising campaign. Just targeting Instagram and another one just targeting Facebook, So you can kind of see that split test and see the results of how things convert on one Versus how they convert on the other. All right So we’ll see you out of both those right.
Now You can see 1.4 million people and we’ll come down. We can choose a budget, we can do a daily budget. We can do a lifetime budget so like. If you wanted to kind of say, hey I’m going to spend 10 bucks a day, 20 bucks say five bucks day Whatever or you’re like. I only have a lifetime budget of Let’s say: 100 dollars. I want to spend oh that’s thousand hundred dollars And I want to spend that over the next month right So then, you can kind of say: hey spent, set a start and end date and obviously that’ll kind of I mean it won’t necessarily Spend exactly like three Dollars per day, What Facebook does is little starts.
Taking that look at the data and after the first week They’ll say: okay, Tuesdays and Fridays actually perform better. So then, the following weeks, they’ll save up more of the budget for those specific days. Okay, So you’re doing a lifetime budget and it’s not all spending evenly consistently, Don’t worry, They will spend it but they’re trying to optimize it for you, whereas if you’re doing a daily budget, They will shoot to spend, let’s say ten dollars a day every single day.
Okay, So now just coming down link clicks, We could just leave that, as is Difference between link, clicks and landing page views just really quick if you’re brand new to this whole Instagram Advertising or Facebook advertising so link clicks is if they they have the ad and They click on the link that Counts as a link, click and the difference between that and a landing page view If, let’s say somebody’s on their mobile device and they’re like on the subway or something like that.
I don’t get a lot of really good service and they click it that counts for the link clicks. But maybe, if the page doesn’t fully load, then They didn’t really even see what you’re trying to get them to click on right. So if you’re going to go through and optimize a little bit deeper and say hey, I only want to go. I want to optimize for people that are actually going to get landing page views, so they click the link and the page actually loads.
That’s a little bit farther into things And so you’re going to get a little bit better result. So obviously you can go through optimize for either one of those We’ll just leave that link clicks for right now and then we’ll just hit continue and then from here. We can go through and create our Instagram post, okay, and What you want to do typically is add an account. Add your Instagram account. Okay, so you just add an account and you put in your login credentials right there.
You can add an existing account create a new account, whatever it might be, okay And then, as you’re going through, you can go and add the image you can add the you know a carousel would basically be multiple images. So like someone who, like can swipe, You know how, like they have the new feature, We’re like you, can see a post and at like five or ten photos or whatever it is. You can swipe through all the different images.
The articles like we mentioned you want to have 15 seconds Or less if it’s on the Instagram stories, 60 seconds or less on the actual news, feed. Okay, So we’ll go through, We’ll choose an account or you can say if you don’t have an Instagram account or you don’t want to use. If you want to Use a separate one, you can say hey. This is my facebook business page. I want to run things from and use the selected Facebook page as the insta clike up as the the profile on Instagram.
Okay, so that’s best well just leave there, or, as I mentioned you guys, can add into your Instagram account their login. So it’s directly from that account And then, let’s say you’re going through upload a article. You just click that plus button or upload article right here or we can say browse library. Let’s see, I Think, okay, that one’s 50 seconds long this one’s 10 seconds long. So this one can go in both stories right there So like this is kind of a quick article of this home.
So we can go. Have this on the story. We can have this on the newsfeed on both of those and then throw in the website. Url of Where you want to send these people to you so like let’s say It’s Google com, obviously it’s not! You probably want to send them to an actual landing page To get some leads or your website or what But you’re able to see like a quick preview of what this is going to look like okay, So you can see right here.
This is the Instagram feed and then Okay story, media, a speculation has to be smaller than equal Okay, so this is. This is another key point That you can see the specs right over here. So, if you’re doing the Instagram stories, You can see it’s more of like that vertical like how that layout is. So you need to match that, so that the the ratio is the same as that for when you’re doing a story. Okay, so What I would need to do is go back in and see how this is more of that Horizontal view.
We need to make it more just the same ratios, to fit on the Instagram stories there: Okay, which is fine, It’s totally fine, but right now We’re just going to continue on with this, and then we come in here type your text. This is basically just like the the text That would be in your post kind of your typical thing. You see that right there and then You can do learn more ply now here all these different types of contacts or call-to-action buttons right here, I’m just going to learn more just going to leave it at that cuz.
I like. I know it’s not like super In-your-face like sign up down on Oh back by now, or anything like that. Just learn more, It’s kind of more that discovery phase, and then we come down here and that’s pretty much it you hit confirm and you are set ready to go and you’re going through it’s showing that add to the specific people you targeted and with a specific Budget that you chose and Then you’re able to go, see how many clicks and all that stuff inside the ads manager Happened from that post case.

This was the first planner that I got in PR and I got to pick everything out which was fabulous, but then I went to go wild, oh by the way.
This is the colorful version of the hourly layout in the gold coil July through June. Okay, so that being said, I went to go wild, which was fabulous by the way and I was invited to an Erin Condren party and there was erin condren binders out, even in just like the general admission areas, and I got to looking at the binder and I was like oh, I need that too, and the color way for this I feel like is so pretty so it was torn.
So then, on launch day, I ordered this I’ll leave the article up in a cart. If you want to look at this a little bit more in detail, so I got this and I’m like. I love this too. What am I going to do so? I thought about it for awhile and I really thought about, like my planning style, like what I like and if you guys know anything about me. I am a very like neutral person in my normal daily life, but in my planner I feel like I’m a colorful person, so I decided on the colorful.
However, I didn’t decide on this one. I was a little sneaky and ordered something else. So I got this: this is the Navy binder. I wanted to see the Navy – and this is the gray binder, which I’ll show you in a second and the colorful our Lee is inside of here. So I think that this is. This is the one guys. This is the one, so let me show you what’s inside and how I set this up so hold on. Let me move this for just a second, so this planner and this planner are going to go to some friends.
I change the cover on this because I wanted to use the cover in my binder and I’ll explain why in just a moment, so this is going to be given to a friend and then this one here I started moving into this just be like completely honest And my contacts page in here is gone because I started playing with it and I’m like oh gosh. What’s in great so yeah, the contacts page has gone in here, but I will still give this a to a planner friend that I know will absolutely love it.
I want to talk about the binder for just a quick second, this really bothers me. I feel like you have to like hold everything for it to like properly closed. If that makes sense like it doesn’t I don’t know it closes, don’t get me wrong, but I feel like if you don’t kind of like push everything to the middle of the binder clip or whatever you want to call it. It just kind of hangs out hold up. Let me let me explain it a little bit more.
So if I didn’t help it, let’s move this. It would go like this. Do you see it? I’m saying like all that’s right there, okay anyway, so this needs a little like Oh needs a little help, and then this one’s good, alright. So that was the gray one which I think is beautiful as well, but I went with the Navy. I thought I wanted to see what the Navy look like and then, if I didn’t like the Navy, I could just swap the binders, but this is the Navy.
It’s gorgeous. You guys know that I don’t really like personalization, so I didn’t do that plus. I wasn’t sure if I was going to keep this. This also has whoops the gold hardware as well, which is like my favorite, and then I put these big erin condren pockets on either side of the binder. So I’m going to be keeping these in here. That’s for coffee, brick, planner and they are like little transparent, dots and I’ll.
Show you how I use those in just a moment, but I’m going to keep those are right there and then I have another one right here and you get a packet too, and the Erin Condren website will be linked below for you guys. This is one of bookmarks and I used this to cut washi mainly, and then I took my old cover off of my coil bound planner and put it in here, and the reason I did that is because of that issue I was just talking about so I Have the back cover in here as well, so I feel like when I’m ready to close this up.
I can just easily go like this and I feel like I’m not going to tear the pages if that makes sense like if there’s something like kind of hard behind it. So that’s how I am going to use that so anyway yeah. So this is what I’m going to use. I was actually talking to a co-worker of mine recently because they wanted me to bring in my planner, because some of them have decided to become Erin Condren fans as well, so she was like wow.
This is so colorful. I’m like yeah, I know she’s like I would have just never thought that you would be a really colorful person, and I said you know the only place that I’m colorful in my life is inside of my planner and that’s kind of like what threw me over The edge of like okay, I need a colorful planner, there’s just no way around it. This is very similar from last year. I track a few different things, and all of these stickers are from coffee, brick.
Planner. There is a link down below, as well as a coupon code, if you all are interested for 20 % off, but I track my cycle, which is why I have these over here because clearly I don’t know when that’s going to be happening and then I have All my paydays and then I have work holidays in here too. If I decide to track something else, I’ll put it up here with a key and then I have a bunch of different colors.
She has a ton of different colors in these little transparent dots. So anyway, this goes from july 2019 through a December 2020, and then here I’m not sure what I’m going to do last year. I ended up doing like home projects, but I’m not sure what I want to do this year, so we’re just going to like leave it for now and let it marinate you know and then July July is clearly not here. Yet I’m still in the end of May, when I’m filming this so for July, I really don’t have anything major going on.
I did decide to open up my little package of long sticky notes and put one on every single month. So if there’s like birthdays or special events that I need to remember or something like that, I have them, you know a little place to write them down. I did put in my garbage and then I do have a hair appointment on Wednesday. That day on the 24th so anyway, that is that that’s all I know what’s going on, but I absolutely love this.
I think this is so pretty. I kind of feel like with the neutral I’d kind of get sick of it. After a while, then, I feel like for me there’s more functionality in the colorful, even though I know some people are very anti. This, like color block here, but I don’t really mind it also something I decided to do, which I hope you can see on camera. It’s so hard cuz. This like viewfinder, is like teeny, tiny small.
Over here I decided to take some Christian designs, transparent stickers and put in like paydays into the current month that it shows down here. So this is July and then I have to get paid July 5th and July 19. So it’s just something to track and then also if I want to track something else or if I know if someone’s going on, I could do that as well. But I love this little thing down in the corner.
I love that change. I think that’s so nice and then I’ve got that little guy right there and then in to auto stand. Then again I did trash and stuff, but let’s go to the back and take a little gander at what’s in there, and then we have our notes pages. Oh something I should say I did not do. Is let’s see here. I put everything in here. However, not everything so I put everything in here through January.
Sorry, I’m kind of like all over the board today. So I put all my weeks up until January in here and then once February hits then I just put in the month and then, like you know, this is the back of the month and then I pushed it into the next month. So I have all of my other pieces of paper upstairs in my office, so when these months start to happen, can put them in here. I just didn’t want the binder to be totally full.
I wanted some extra room in here and not make it like. So bulky and I do have the room to store – you know the extra pages and whatnot. So that’s what I did for February through December of 2020. So but I do have you know my months out there, so I can always jot things down anyway. Now we’re into the notes section, and so we’ve got a few things that I actually did a little bit of planning before I filmed this article because I felt like if I did this on camera, it would be like hours long and I’m just like not all About that life anyway, and of course I did it at like mmm like 10:30 last night and there’s like no lighting at that point in my home, so anyway, I decided to do something really similar like I did last year, and I actually have it sitting right Off camera here, so this is my one from the previous year and then I put in like July through June, and these are just like tasks so like 2019, 2020 monthly tracking cute little house sticker there from coffee break planner.
And then I got these from Christian designs and then this washi is actually from Christian designs, but it’s available at Michael’s, only so very fun. So these are all the things that I want to achieve in the next year or so so I just want to like you know, have the task done so for me. Obviously yours is going to be a little bit different and if you have different categories like, let me know in the comments down below, maybe need to add some.
So anyway, I have a budget donations. I tend to donate something every single month or a bag of things clean out the fridge clean out the freezer clean out the pantry. That’s done sometimes weekly, but you know it’s something that I need to do at least once a month. My air filter. I don’t need to change it every single month, but it’s nice to see when I’m doing it. I think it’s about like every three months.
My color gun service is not every month, but it’s nice to see when the last time was checking smoke detectors. My bedding and blankets, organizing my files changing out my toothbrush head clean out the car, a car oil change, face, mask I’m trying to get better at that, like the whole self care thing, I don’t know it’s just like very difficult for me and I need to Just like make the time – I don’t know if you guys struggle with that too, and I’m like one to talk like I don’t have kids and I have a very like subdued life, but still it just sometimes it’s just difficult to make the time and then no Plastic bags: that’s like a big thing that I am going to try to start well, I’m actually already starting it, but I’m going to try to not use any plastic bags in the next year.
I have so many reusable bags. Those Erin Condren ones are just amazing and I love them, and I have so many of them in my car ready to go, and you know you pop into like CVS or Walgreens or the gas station or whatever, and I’m like. Why do I have this plastic bag? I should just always have a reusable bag in my bag. So that’s what I’ve been doing. It’s been working out really well and if I’m clearly like going to the grocery store I’ll put like five or six of them in my bag and if I don’t use them all great, but I would rather over pack then under pack, because they’re so lightweight anyways.
So I’m that’s like a goal of mine and I don’t know if it’s weird but that’s like something I want to do in the next year or so so anyway. Um there is my little dot grid pages and then I haven’t filled out my contacts yet because I didn’t want to be all creepy and stuff Here. I am going to put in all of my house stuff, so the name of the heating and air company. That I view is the name of the electrician.
I’ve been using my HOA contact, my mortgage company, like any like service related thing like culligan. They come over and do service in my home and, like anything house related I’d like to keep it in here, so I think that will be good and then oh over here I put in so this is January 20 January of 21 wow, that’s weird to say Through December of 21 – and I put in all of the pay days as well with those same stickers from Christian designs, those transparent circles – and then here are the sticker sheets, which I decided to put in the back here.
I might end up taking these out because a lot of times, if you guys have seen like any of my other planner articles a lot of times. I kind of forget that they’re back here and then I don’t end up using them. But if they’re in here, which is like my little Erin Condren sticker organizer, then I know that they’re here, so I might just end up putting these in here. Eventually, these are just all loose sticker sheets from Erin Condren that I love so anyway.
They’re in here for now, like I said I might, I might move them – I don’t know so yeah and then we’ve got these ones too. These are so nice very underrated, but very nice, and then I have my back cover to the coil planner, which I love that too, and then here there is that big pocket again, so you can slip something in there. I was actually going to use this. I decided I was going to put this hold on and here’s stop talking so these little flaps kind of replaced this and I already bought it, but I think I’m going to give that to someone that is going to take one of those planners.
What I did last you, which I absolutely loved, is when I was tracking this for like my cycle and stuff, I put this in here and had this little flap here and had this inside and it worked out great, but the more I thought about it. I was like you know I kind of like more streamlined like that. So anyway, this is going to go to the friend, so this kind of replaced that, but I mean everyone, just kind of needs to do what works for them.
So anyways that’s going to be it for me today. I just wanted to share with you guys what I am planning on using for the 2019 2020 year in my Erin Condren hourly. Please please. So if you don’t know what it is, google keyword planner is basically a free tool that is used to help make informed decisions about keywords. A keyword is basically anything you can type into a search box. People will call it long tail keywords and keyword, phrases and there’s a bit of semantics that go into there, but if you’re, just starting out, that’s not something that you need to worry about getting back to keyword, planner.
It was a tool that was built out by Google for advertisers, so it would be easier for them to go ahead and create campaigns on google adwords, basically letting them know information about who’s. Looking for what, at whatever time and how much money, it’s going to cost you to get that click, so you will be able to find information relevant to your audience without wasting your time and money. So if you’re, just starting out, you don’t really need to go ahead and spend hundreds of dollars every month buying new tools.
You just try this out see if you have all the information you need and once you’ve narrowed down your results, your research into a specific section, and only then will you really need to worry about more and more complex and intricate tools. So, to start off, we need to figure out what keyword research is, and why do you need it and who needs it? So if you don’t know keyword, research is basically research on keywords.
That’s pretty self-explanatory, figuring out what people are looking for, figuring out, whether your business aligns with them whether these are the right type of people being able to rank on those ads and, finally, to increase your sales and revenue. We’re basically going to be going over three things in these tutorials, using keywords for SEO, using keyword, planner to drive better results on your PPC campaigns.
That’s pay-per-click and finally, the nitty-gritty of keyword. Research will basically go ahead and look for a keyword that we use in our own agency, so you have a real life working example like we were saying, keyword planner can be used by two people. One are business owners that are trying to create campaigns and finding keywords to convert on it’s pretty much the same process. The only difference is if you’re, a business owner of your goal is to look for a very low small, complete, very low competitive keywords, so that you can spend as little money as you can and ranked number one in that specific search term.
So you can get more visitors that are looking for the ideal target, but if you’re into content, it’s a bit different because you want to rank for that highest hardest, most the keywords behind with the most money. So, if you’re into content – and if you have your own niche blog, if you’re writing about gardening in San Francisco or something it’s a bit different, because you want to rank for the highest competitive keywords.
So if your goal is to make money on your blog with google adsense or something, then you want to make sure that you’re trying to back keywords that have a lot of money behind them. So you don’t want to be the number one blog of a very obscure category with no money behind it. One thing that we found recently when we were doing some research for software is that open source key programs like open source CRMs, an open source.
Anything has very little competition because, to be honest, there is no money to be made in that people that are looking for open source software are generally not the guys that are looking to pay money. So that’s a really cool thing: if your model is generating revenue through google adsense, that’s not the niche you want to be in. So that’s one side of the spectrum. The other side of the spectrum are business owners.
Whether you want to try to create content on your own blog and rank for a specific keyword or you want to figure out which keywords have actual value and which you can afford to get a click for. Because if you want to find something like diet or weight loss, it’s going to be ridiculously competitive for you, so you can’t really sell products on that through google adwords. Well, you could but you’re not really going to make a profit unless you have insane conversion rates, because you’ll be looking at spending tens and twenty dollars per click and above so, what you’re trying to do is look for a decent keyword, which you think we’ll have Good results now, of course, this doesn’t justify everything, there’s still a ton of a/b testing that you need to do with words with URLs with designs and that’s a different topic for another day.
If you don’t have an account already go ahead and create one by going to edwards, google com – and you can just sign in with your google account if you want to the signup process, is very basic. If you’ve built a gmail account, you know how to do this, so once you create your google account, you will be locked into the dashboard of Adwords and it’ll. Show you what you’ve been doing. So if you haven’t done anything right now, it’s just going to be an empty dashboard, but on the navigation bar you’ll, see an option called tools inside tools once you click on the Tools, menu you’ll have a bunch of submenu items, go ahead and click keyword planner Inside that, and now we’re actually ready to begin so once you’re, there you’ll see four different tools in two different categories.
The first category is find new keywords and get search volume, data and the second category is for budgets and forecasts, so we’ll only be looking at the first one, really because unless you’re a very advanced user and are currently spending a lot of money on AdWords, that’s Really not something you’ll be looking into inside that you have three options: search for new keywords, using a phrase website or category second option is get search, volume, data and trends and finally, multiply keyword list to get new keywords.
The first option, the first tool so we’ll just call the tool. The first tool is perfect if you are in the lookout for ideas. Well, if you list your product or your seed keyword, your first thing it’ll basically create a bunch of derivatives of that keyword. It’ll use various amounts of data from your product, your service, and if you input your website, it will go through your landing page and it will see what you’re trying to sell the more information you give this.
Basically, the better results it’s going to give for you. So Serge viral is a digital marketing agency right. The main product that we actually sell is social media management. Let’s go ahead and use this to get some actual results on a campaign that we can use to get more businesses to pay us to manage their social media. What we’re going to do is go ahead and type social media agency, or you could say social media management.
Let’s just go ahead and do that because that is the product, not the type of business and we’ll go ahead and put Serge viral calm locations. So initially we are currently actually looking for a campaign we’re doing a bunch of ads to advertise to people in the UK, so I’m going to go ahead and have United Kingdoms United Kingdom’s as my country. So if you are in the UK, you would know that Google AdWords is expensive and that’s not really a bad thing.
As long as the market makes sense, you wouldn’t really have a problem. There is a bunch of stuff that you want to do this. The first thing is the product key words: these are what your product is, you can add more than one you can add like a bunch of stuff so like, if you have a I mean we could technically add like social media SEO, digital marketing and all of That to get results customized directly to your business, but we’re doing this on a very micro level, because we want to only sell this one product because we have capacity to handle a lot of that.
And that would be perfect for us right now because, unlike SEO, Google Keyword planner is about giving you instant results.
