This is a very nice thick variety. We got. We’ve got a little bit of it before and some of the patches we’ve harvested, but this right here gets you a nice thick gel. This will multiply it very well when you guys big, so you guys got to try this out also, if you want to make a very thick smoothie, you just add this in there and you only need a little handful to make some good, ah gel from that.
So this gives you a lot of return right here: okay, again about to spread this knowledge to you ball, because, first of all, grand rising good morning. It’s a boy, Scott Brown here back with another article, and today’s article is going to be very, very special because I’m going to be talking about a lot of knowledge and giving you guys with them to better your overall healthy lifestyle. Alright, so I’m here for you all and I’m just happy to spread this knowledge to you guys on YouTube and you know, share the articles and supporting me on this journey.
Alright, so let’s talk about it, so this is going to be a article about CMOS, and this is not my first article about CMOS. You already know I love CMOS. You know, though, especially coming from the west indies, jamaican big yourself be done. No Irish moss vamanos. Whatever you want to call it, I’m going to say anything else. If you don’t know about seeing more CMOS has over 90 % essential minerals for the human body.
Can this really go for thyroid and health skin health, hair health increase the sexual drive? You know so you can wrap up some things for both men and women, so increase the natural libido of both men and women. Alright. So it’s a lot of healing properties when it comes to CMOS, but I’ve been in some corruption and as far as the CMOS industry goes – and I want to talk about it, because it’s only right that I give you guys quality content and to talk about things.
Like this all right, so you had two types of CMOS: what crafted CMOS, which is crafted from mother nature now tempered by man whatsoever, you know, will let mother nature run its course. What practice emotions is high quality. Then you have farm CMOS which in is part in a pool, a pool where you go swimming and things like that. It’s what I’m going to pull, which is definitely tempered by man, not wobbly, crafted at all.
So this is a very low policy of CMOS and with it becoming low quality, it increases the quantity because it’s a lot of CMOS out there on the market. Alright. So today’s article is all about telling the difference and let you guys know the information between wildcraft, the CMOS and farm CMOS, the riddle versus the fake high quality versus low party. I really feel like it’s very important, to show you this information right because we’re always here to learn and to teach one another.
So without further ado, let’s sit down and let’s have a conversation about it. Let’s go I’m a people. So now we are stealing and let’s have a conversation. So, first of all, as you can see, I have two types of CMOS have two types of CMOS. I have one half the CMOS and then I have farmed CMOS, and the most important thing is that you want to access of these three questions. Where do you get your CMOS from the quality of the CMOS and the characteristics of the CMOS? So this article I’m going to break it down step by step, alright, so the first one we want to tackle this way in your CMOS, because you can see most for dirt cheap on Amazon, from Alibaba from all the types of things.
Alright, all types of different websites – you can get it dirt cheap and for us we’re looking at quality over quantity, you can get CMOS and one of those health food stores. You know, and the most important thing you have. The eyes is where you getting the signal. Strong, if you ask some clerk like hey, you know where’s, the steam was coming from and you can’t answer it or give you a straight answer.
Then most likely it is fun. Alright. So there’s no like direct origin from anything that just must have got it. For my third-party distributor and say alright, let’s tell it, but then you have people who you ask these questions to, especially if you go to like finally, an echo. If you check them out on Instagram, you can actually see them going into the ocean. The fresh piracy laws we’re driving for he just came out.
You know about Iran daddy thing to get mother. They just get with the CMOS, so they’re actually going out there and getting it Wild Wild Kratts, CMOS, there’s not being tampered by men or not being in a pool in this unnatural habitat all right. So, while crafted definitely higher quality, so access stuff – where are you getting your CMOS from? Are you getting it for much on the trusted provider or you get it from somebody that you know that has accountability somebody’s going to tell the truth or just somebody that wants to make a quick buck off for you all right, so we’re all about quality over Quantity episode where you get your CMOS, so the second thing that you need to understand we’re telling the difference between wild crafted and form CMOS is to correct the risks of the sequence.
Now, as you can see here this, this is to Tennessee. What’s on my table right and I have said before, crap one is well crafted and one is fine. Now, while crafted CMOS, it’s dry, it looks like thin, very thin, noodles, very thin, noodles and also not so much salt on it bare minimum. The great ancestor doctor say she also said that Seymour shouldn’t have that much salt on it. Little to no salts. All right now see right here, I’m going to do a close-up, don’t worry, you got ta, see it and then right here I got this.
So this is what it is. I got ta see most fun fighter beginning and then this thing was right here I got from a local store, I’m not going to name a store, but I got from the local store. So with this theme, was it’s highly salted highly highly salted? Now that tells me that this is a farm crack, the CMAs because of the highest salt content, most likely they put on a higher dinosaur to preserve it, and this is definitely not Mother Nature way of doing things.
This is definitely you don’t touch my men and you can just tell by the characteristics of it. So that’s something that you need to arm also access off and also wonder about now. The third thing is the actual buildup of the sea. Bumps. Now I’m going back to how the sea must look, there’s many different species of sea moss itself but, like I said before, were crafted barely any salt on it, and also you could look at it.
It’s very thin. It’s very thin. It doesn’t have that salty sea smell it’s because it’s drying out signals are supposed to be dried out. Alright. Now here, which is the farmed, the farm CMOS it’s very thick if it looks like the CMOS, is very unusually thick, then most likely its form CMOS and also going back to the high salt content. It should not be as salty at all. I know it comes from the sea, but most people they try to provide that salt to preserve it.
So you want to stay away from farm crafty, CMOS quality of a positive you get in more with walk crafted, because this is letting mother nature, but its course. While this one is being speed up this, this one’s being sped up, people will just want to make some quick money. People do not understand the importance of it. Yes, nine percent essential minerals for the human body, but you want the max amount of minerals for a wrestle like I said, before: quality over quantity and yeah guys.
This is the official guide to understanding wild crafted verses from craft the seamless. Alright. It’s all these three questions where you getting the CMOS the characteristics of the CMOS and the properties of the CMOS, because we only want the best and the best for our people. Alright. So, like I said before, if you’re looking for some wild crafted CMOS, please final vegan ENCOM use my cold bernhard 20 did a nice discount.
It’s important stuff brown here great comment like share subscribe and yeah man share this article with somebody who wants to find out the difference between wild crafted versus farm CMOS. Alright, so jump bless pic of yourself.
Alright, now, the reason why I Kind of like came up with this idea to shoot this article is because I’ve had a number of friends. Actually, personally, text me reached Out to me – and so I kind of wanted to maybe make this as like a little help for them As they’re going through and growing their business they’re all in different businesses.
So this could work if you know you’re real estate. You know on a marketing agency – Oh my god, Friends got want to start a Golf Channel, Another friend, that’s in network marketing. There’s there’s all these different things and it all is pretty consistent when you’re going through and building up your business on social media right now. Now, I’m just so you guys, if you guys, are brand new to the blog.
My name is Jason Wardrop And I use these exact strategies yesterday, mated twenty thousand dollars in just one day, I’ll, actually I’ll, throw a little Screenshot right here. Something like that. So you guys can actually believe me see that it’s real There’s, no exact strategies that I’ve gone through and used, And the cool thing is. I was just talking with a friend the other day actually, and we were talking about how, Like I started, diving into this stuff less than two years ago.
Okay, so it’s not like it takes you a whole lifetime. Let you go if you’re a doctor you’re going to go and get to spend eight to ten years in school, And then you kind of like hit a cap of what you can really go through and make, whereas with social media. Since you can reach so many people, you there’s not really a cap on your income or learning, And you could do it fairly quickly. Alright, But there’s a few core things that you need to know as we go through and break this down so step number one guys I’ll try to write it fairly big, so you guys can see this and excuse my my terrible handwriting here, but number one is Gain a Skill okay, so let me just hit this really quick guys, So many people – this is bugs me and I know it bugs a lot of people They go.
They try to be the fake expert because, like being an expert, is Big nowadays, because it’s like oh you’re, the expert go launch a course and make all this money. Well, if you don’t have any credibility or authority No-one’s going to go trust you and you’re going to make like Pennies compared to like what you really could make now, if you think about it, If you guys are familiar with Gary Vaynerchuk, which I’m sure so you Guys are, he is a big-time businessman.
He’s got millions of followers on all the different social media platforms, But the interesting thing is: if you guys go, look at the beginning of his career And when he first started out, he started out with a company called Wine Library, or it was called a Wine Library, TV Right, he start out with a YouTube blog and would shoot a article every single day to go through and propel His wine business.
He was selling wine out of his dad’s little shop And he went through it, took him to the Internet And then I think they sold that company for like 60 million dollars right. So You got ta gain a skill and ideally that skill is something that you’re passionate about right like so when my friends, He just texts me yesterday is like hey man. I want to start an Instagram page on our Instagram profile on golf he’s, a big-time golfer He’s super good at golf.
He’s in all these big-time tournaments He’s, like you know, how would I go through and do this, and so that’s the nice thing he’s got a skill, Whereas I’ve got other friends who they want to go through. They want to create the big social media following, But there’s no one, there’s no backstory to them like I’ve got another friend. He is called the bucket list. Family They’ve got, I think, close to million followers.
Now He’s got a cool story, He went started an app and sold a snapchat anyway, We were in the same business school together and we were having a few classes together, But what he did instead of going through and getting like that, necessarily like that skill, He Built a story around his profile right where it’s like: hey He’s taking his family, He sold everything all their belongings And then they’re traveling, all around the world and now they’re getting sponsorships and cool deals and stuff like that.
So he’s got a story behind it, whereas most people you’re going to need to have some type of skill set like You know, Gary Vee he went in and he started just like going through and Evaluating wines right or you need to go through, learn Facebook Ads. If you want to start a marketing agency Or you’ve got to get some, I got an another friend. He sells courses on Amazon, okay Or he sells stuff on Amazon.
He build a course around that and now his personal brands blown up. So We got to gain a skill guys that that’s number one, If not then you’re going to be kind of built on like a deck of cards. Okay, go on deck of cards, alright, So the second thing is going through, and this is this part number two is really what I think you guys here for is building a personal brand Okay, so I started about a year and a half ago marking two real Estate agents right and I’ve kind of become the known as The guy okay he’s the the real estate Legion marketing guy and all that stuff.
So I’ve worked with now a few thousand real estate agents, helping them generate leads Market. The business go and I’ll grow. That and now I’m kind of starting to help other people Create their own marketing agency right. So I’ve gone through and I’ve kind of built that personal brand – and it didn’t happen overnight and like with Gary Vaynerchuk, Didn’t happen overnight. He was for years doing that that daily show and just working – And he wasn’t like necessarily just like in the branding kind of comes with it right.
So when you’re going through and you’re building your personal brand, It’s key to pick the right platform. Where you know your users are going to be okay, so Bit my bigger, if like, if you guys, are reading this on YouTube, Which you are cuz, I’m shooting it for my youtube blog. You see, I probably have like a thousand subscribers, which is pretty miniscule Right. That’s not not that big on Facebook, I have about 30,000 followers.
Okay, which is you know it’s getting up there. It’s not like a huge falling, But it’s a decent size And the reason why I build it up on on Facebook is because there’s a lot of real estate agents. A lot of mortgage brokers a lot of real estate brokers on Facebook, more so than are on YouTube. Okay, and so I went through – and I built my personal brand on Facebook, But then, like my buddy, he wants to go through and build his.
He wants to build his Instagram account right so, depending on your business, You got to know your target market and know where they hang out, like, for example, And one friend I was telling you about who’s got. He sells on Amazon, well, Amazon, crypto Shopify, all that stuff. That’s super Hot, on YouTube right! So, if you’re going to go through and connect with other people, you got to make sure you’re using the right Platform where you know like snapchat.
It’s going to be a different following Instagram different following, whereas like Facebook, now You used to be all like kind of the younger generation and now none of the younger. I got some of the younger brothers and none of them are ever on Facebook. It’s kind of like: oh, that’s, not cool anymore. That’s for old people right, so you got to pick your right Platform is you’re going through a building and guys Like I could go through and we could hit different strategies on how to build on Instagram YouTube.
Facebook. All these different platforms, But there’s like there’s a million other articles out there on how to do each one of those specifically and there’s guys that, like they Specialize in that one platform, all right, so we’re not going to hit that in today’s article. I just want to cover a few these key concepts so that you can have a kind of core basic Understanding of some things that you should probably put in place When you’re going through and building up your social media following alright, then the third thing is Okay.
This is key to you: got ta have some type of product product to Sell. Okay. Now this obviously the whole idea behind all of this is that you can go through and make money For your business or make money just for life in general right. So You know some people might be starting to be like well Jase, I’m not in for the money. Well, Let’s get real at the end of day. At some point you are going to be right, you’re not going to want to spend all your time.
Game is skill, build a personal brand and then make no money whatsoever, okay, so the Products this could be a number of different things, so it could be a digital online course. Okay, It could be a software, it could be a physical good, Okay like, for example, Logan Paul. He sells like his maverick merges his t-shirts awesome. I don’t know how much she’s going to be selling now that that u2 is basically banning him or doing some crazy stuff there.
But you got to have a product to sell or like, for example, You know my buddy that wants to start the Instagram account for a golf okay. He can maybe have a training on how to go through and improve your putt or your chip shot Or you drive whatever it is. I don’t I don’t golf something all the different terms, or he could do some type of affiliate deals With links to Amazon. Where he’s saying hey, I recommend this driver.
This driver is awesome, It’s great to use, and then he get a little affiliate cut where you don’t have to manage any of the product, the shipping any of that stuff and That super beneficial, where you’re probably not going to make as much money. If it’s you just going to feel They attack the product, if you have your own products, you’re going to make a lot more money, But that’s another way to kind of like have that hands-free business more of the lifestyle type of business right.
So This is he right here guys because, yes, you can go through and make money from YouTube ad revenue. Yes, you can go make money from like brands and sponsorships and all that stuff, But honestly that type of money that you can make is like Pennies compared to. If you have your own product right. So I know people that they’ve got tens of thousands of followers. They’ve got hundreds of thousands of followers and They don’t make a ton of money because they don’t have this core back end product nailed down completely Okay.
So you got to think about Okay, If you have 10,000 followers or 30,000 or 100,000. What? What kind of like that niche right like what? What is that following based on and what would be something that they’d all be interested in? Maybe you could make like you know some t-shirts, like a community type t-shirt like Logan Paul at the Maverick brand like a. I mention a little bit earlier Or you know Gary Vaynerchuk.
He had the wine that he was going through and selling, so He went through gain a skill set. He was really knowledgeable up about wines: Okay, Build a personal brand around wine initially, And then he had the product to sell on the back end. Okay, now one core thing guys! I want you guys. I really want to stress this big-time gaining this skill. Okay, if you do not have a skill right now, No worries, okay, like so that’s kind of where I found myself about two years ago I was, I was doing a startup And I was like can’t.
I know I know some digital marketing stuff and all that stuff. But let’s say my startup completely tanked and everything just went to crap and I had to start over completely from scratch Or, let’s say even worse, like I had actually get a job right like happy for me, That would be like the worst thing on the planet. So what I thought was like man, You know I’m pretty good at like some of the social media mark and stuff, But kind of just been dabbling like I know SEO a little bit.
I know a little bit of the YouTube stuff. I know a little bit of all these things. I was like if I really knew how to go, sell on webinars buy really new Facebook Ads buy really new email marketing like I’d. Had these core skill sets that It served not only me, but you know every like a lot of other businesses. Okay, So I went through and I spent probably the next. I don’t know six and nine months going through and hammering that down really learning that skillset guys.
Believe me, It wasn’t easy but, as I mentioned guys, yesterday made twenty thousand dollars in just one day. So if you think about that, that was like less than two years ago that I took a step back was like man. I need a skill set. Okay, So if I can tell you, hey, go get a skill set nail it down and then in two years You could potentially be making five grand a day or ten grand a day or twenty grand a day Or I’ve got some buddies that are doing.
Like fifty to sixty grand a day, Okay, which is insane like I want, I want to get to that level like that’s crazy right, so anyway, guys. These are some kind of basic tips as far as how to get started With social media for beginners. If you really wanted to build a business around it, I highly Recommend gaining some type of skill set right Like get something where you either know a lot about a topic like whether it could be.
You know wine like Gary Vaynerchuk. It could be accounting finance marketing. Whatever it might be like or you know, tan or J Fox Talked a little bit about him on the blog before he knows how to sell on Amazon, right Or other guys to know how to sell on Shopify or, like my skill set was. I knew how to generate leads For real estate agents really well and now you know mortgage brokers and kind of like branch, that off from off that okay, Then I went through and after I kind of got that core base of like okay, these guys, I’m generating These form having great crazy success stories.
This is awesome. I can now go build my personal brand around it, and Now I’ve got a product to sell where we bill out of software. I have trainings, I have coaching’s all that stuff And then there’s easy, even things like little fingers of pieces that I can build off of that where it’s like now. I’ve got my core training teaching Real stages. How to generate leads on our software, and now I got a whole different training Teaching mortgage brokers.
How to generate leads on the software, because they’re so closely related right and now I’ve got a third training of teaching digital marketers right, like maybe you might be a digital, marketer or marketing agency right and teaching them. They go, get real estate, Clients and mortgage clients. Now I’m just I just started that a month ago, because a year year and a half ago, Yes, I was getting clients, But I wasn’t like getting him on a super consider how to go through, and I had to gain that skillset.
First, I had to like make a get a better foundation on that, And so once I built that solve foundation – and you know I think today so yesterday we did twenty thousand, and I think today, We’ve already had like 50 to 60 new signups or something like That on our software, So it’s like, I feel like I’ve – got that skill set got that nailed down where I Feel confident where it’s not like the blind leading the blind.
I know how to lead people to be able to say: hey, you want to generate real estate, leads and And go get real estate, clients and market for them and get paid a monthly commission for your marketing services. On that, Here’s exactly how to do that! Here’s like the légion campaigns, Here’s how to go through get more people organically. So anyway, It’s kind of a proven process. But, as I mentioned it’s taken time, so what I would suggest, if you’re completely starting from scratch Right now, you don’t have a skill set.
Take the next six months, KS January 2018 January 11th, I think, or twelve things, twelve Okay, so January 12 2018. Take it till set it to the goal. Okay, say by June You’re going to Have a solid skill set, whether it’s you know hey, you know how to generate leads or Forfor. Like you know, some type of business owner real stay Insurance whatever or you Know how to like golf or you know how to you’re really knowledgeable about wine or some topic and then once you do that, Go through And you’re helping people right, you’re getting some excuse.
Some testimonials experience, basically that credibility. That authority Then go start building your personal brand around it on the platform that that complements whatever niche You’re going after and then create some type of product to sell to the masses, And that’s the beauty about social media right like instead of back in the day When you could only reach your local real estate Agents like we’ve, got agents all across the United States and Canada And we’ve now, I think they were pretty close to 3,000 agents that have been on our platform and using our Training and all stuff which, which is Crazy right, like I, would have never been able to do that probably 20-30 years ago, But now I can do that because we’ve got social media.
We can connect with so many people right so Anyway, guys leave a comment down below. Let me know your thoughts. Let me know I’m curious to hear about what you’re trying to go through and build your social media brand on And if you guys leave your thoughts down below I’ll be sure to respond to every single one of you guys. If you guys got a question I’ll give you guys some feedback, let you know how I can be helpful And if you guys are brand new to the blog.

Perhaps your CEO is happy about the way his bio and headshot look on screen like this winter. Those kinds of things are important at anecdotes. For most businesses, though, it has to come down to something objective, something that can be measured. For example, 100 unique visitors came to your website on Monday and 20 of them purchase your product.
You need to be able to determine what you’re getting back from your website. So how do you do that? The ultimate objective measure is whether your website contributes positively to your bottom line. How you arrived at that measurement is the fodder for measurement and analytics. Google Analytics is a tool you may have heard of it’s free, it’s web-based and it quantifies visitor behavior. It will capture certain data as visitors move through the site.
It’s really important to look at just those key indicators that mean something to your type of business. Chances are you’re going to be looking at things like bounce rate, visitors over time and conversion. There’s actually a place in Google Analytics that you can ask it to compare it to your industry, so that you know hey. Is that a bad bounce rate of our good bounce rate is that a good conversion or a bad conversion? Looking at these key indicators over time will help you determine where your site may have problems, and then that way, you really can determine the success of your site.
Okay. The first thing you need to understand is: when you have an email marketing plan, you need to make sure that you have some sort of email system. That’s helping you manage these databases. Mailchimp is free, Constant Contact, there’s some more advanced ones like HubSpot. You know those types of deals right. You always want to leverage your email marketing.
When you have a customer base, that’s ready for more information, that’s already your customer, but you can educate, foster their relationship. Potentially cross-sell some other opportunities get in front of their friends. Referrals, send them articles that you’re producing whatever it is. Really. Your email database is a free way to contact your customers and get them the information that they want to see and that they could potentially use to.
You know work with you on a different type of product. That’s how you best want to use email marketing once again, it’s free, it’s one of the best ways to get things moving with your brand
If you are here, you are probably interested in communicating science and in writing a blog post about science. Our webinar will take 30 to 40 minutes. If you don’t have the time to read the article, you can also access the slide through the link below, in the youtube description, also other useful links that will be presented in the short course, and you cannot click in the article you can access in this description Before we start with the content of the course we want to shortly present ourselves, we are all early career centers who are involved in egu division blogs me, clara and violin.
We are involved in the ego. Cryosphere blog valeria is the main editor of the etu natural hazards. Blog and elenora is the main editor of the etiotectonics and structural geology. Blog eleonora cannot join us today, unfortunately, but she was strongly involved in preparing the content for this short course. As I already said, we are not fully we’re not working hundred percent on the blog. This is something we do on the side of scientific research, but this is maybe not the main interest of this course.
What you’re interested in is more what we’re going to do so in the next 30 to 40 minutes. We want to share with you some experience we had in running the science or the edu division blogs to help you draft a blog post. We will start with thinking about the motivation behind writing a blog post and the topic you want to share. Then we will think um about. Is there a best moment to write a blog post and where to po, to publish your post? So you want to do it on a personal blog or join a collaborative blogging platform then also you’ll have to think about who you want to reach with this blog post and finally, a big chunk of the short course will be about actually writing a blog post.
This was supposed to be a short course um, a participatory short course at edu. Now it’s a pre-recorded webinar, but we still encourage you to actively participate and to do so, we have prepared some practical exercises that you can do throughout the webinar, where, whenever you found the symbol shown here, you can then pause the article to work on these exercises And if you have done them all at the end of the webinar, you will have a draft for your own blog post.
Please take your time. Do it at your own pace? If you think some exercises are not interesting to you, then just don’t do them um. If you have a draft at the end, you can send us the draft for feedback, and we can help you get it published on the e2 division blogs if you’re interested, if you’re not interested at all in the practical part, just read the webinar without breaks and It will give you some inspiration, so, let’s start about thinking about your blog post, and the first thing you should ask yourself is: why do you want to blog so think about your aim? It could be advertise your own research to your peers, or you want to share your research or science in general, with more than just your peers, a larger audience, or you want to get a new perspective on an interesting subject, and you want to share this as Well to other people, or you want to network, because writing a blog post will make yourself visible to the rest of the community or even a larger public, and you will get to know other bloggers.
And finally, the aim – probably behind all of these is also communicating about science – is interesting to you. Now comes directly our first exercise, where you can think about the reason why you decided to follow this webinar. Why are you interested in science blogging? What would you like to achieve by writing a blog post? What is your aim today? Once you have your aim, you can also think about the topic very rapidly, because often it is very closely related to your aim.
For example, if you wanted to share your research with other people, then topic will be your own research. Then, of course you have to think about what parts of your own research you want to share. Maybe also you want to write about a particularly interesting publication, or you just want to. If your aim was to share about science in general, you could write about basic scientific principles or scientific fun facts and, finally, you can also share experiences from your life.
As a scientist such as field work or career, advices or advices for mental health, here again take a bit of your time to think about the topic. Do you already have a topic in mind? If not take some minutes to think of a topic you want to write about today. Now that you have your aim and your topic, let’s think about. When should you start to write um? There is not really a rule about this uh. We would advise just right when you feel inspired and motivated and of course, if you have time otherwise, there are not really limits.
You can write a blog post from the beginning to the end of your scientific career. You can write about your research in the beginning, so the motivation behind it or when the publication is ready there. We would advise to write when the publication is ready, because then the results are peer-reviewed, but that’s up to you and then of course, it’s also nice to share about a particular field campaign or experience.
So it also depends on the aim and the topic when you want to write. Also, the publishing is a matter of timing, usually just publish after having gotten feedback that improve your piece, but if there is, if your topic fits a current news context very well, you can also try to aim for uh this timely way of publishing. For example, uh. I’r involved in the etu cryosphere blog and i’m a ci scientist and every year in september, the arctic cis reaches its minimum extent and then we it’s kind of natural, to write a blog post about sea ice.
At that point, okay, and so now you approximately know what you want to write about and when now is uh. You also need the question of where um, because you can either publish on a personal blog on a collaborative blog. The advantages of a personal blog is that you have complete freedom, because it’s your own, it will reflect your main interest and it will be advertisement for your person, so it will be all about you, but of course you have to keep in mind that it is Also, very time consuming because you will have to take care of the website.
Take care of the structure. Do everything by yourself. While if you join a collaborative blog, the structure will be there already. You will have a platform to network, discuss and have feedback on your pieces. You have more visibility from the start, because maybe the blog is already famous or reaches already a lot of people, and you have to invest less time, because even if you want to post regularly um, you can do so with with much more time, because other people Will post as well but keep in mind also here that this is a team effort and that not everything will go um after what you want, so conflicts may originate in this webinar.
We will go through principles that are applicable to both structures, but um, keep in mind that we might be a bit biased towards the collaborative block. Because that’s our background, and now we also want to quickly present to you the egu division blocks, because we have been mentioning them several times already and you might not know exactly what we’re talking about. So they are what we call a collaborative blog platform.
Each year provides a possibility for each division to have a blog, and what you can see here are the divisions who already have blogs, and these blogs are run by volunteers, often early career scientists and the pub. And although the publishing platform is provided by edu, you still have much freedom for the content as long as the chief editors check it. It is based on a few regular contributors, but they also have scientific research to do so.
They are very happy if guest authors take up the task of publishing blog posts once in a while as well. If you are very interested about the ego division blogs, we also have a display in another session, where you can see some statistics about the audience and the posting ratio of some of the egu division blocks as an exercise. Here we invite you to navigate the ego. Blog universe to find inspiration, and maybe a blog that you feel your topic could fit in.
If you want to go the collaborative option, and now I give to valeria who will continue all right and after i’ve thought about the aim, the topic and when and where you want to publish and something important to keep in mind is who do you want? Your blog to be read by who, can you help the most with what you want to write so your target audience, and that could be the brother community of peers if you want to maybe blog about your main research topic or something very specific that can be Of interest for for your community, but also the general public, if you want to block of science in general or some basic principles that you would like to explain, or why not a specific group or community, let’s take an example of an earthquake that happens in a Specific region of the planet – and you would like you – are an earthquake um as a researcher, so you are a seismologist and you would like to explain a little bit better.
What happens? What happened there and what are the basics behind like earthquake concert, so you may want to address this topic for exactly a specific community in that region. But if it’s not only important for you to know what is your target audience uh? It is important as well to know how to be found by your target audience. An easy way to find blog posts is generally to browse the internet and use keywords and keep in mind as keywords, because they will come later again when we talk more about how to structure blog posts.
So what are readers potentially looking for? So what are the hot topics or the most research uh questions uh on internet so depending once again on your target audience? So if you’re your peers, maybe you want to check out the research gate, a question area for maybe hot questions around your discipline uh. While if you want to target the more general public, why not check out what is aston quora, for example, still related to your discipline or your field? And another important point is definitely the language that you decide to use in your blog post, english or your mother tongue.
Of course, if that is different from english – and this will depend on your name on your topic on your target audience as well as the blog style, for example, the ego division blocks, we all write in english more generally. Actually always so, you have chosen a topic. You like to write about by now and who do you want your post to be read by just think about it as this exercise and if it’s not only important who is going to read your blog for your blog post, it’s also important who’s going to understand.
You jargon: let’s talk a little bit about jargon, because it’s very important so jargon is any word or phrase that we use in our particular field or profession that loses or completely changes the meaning when you use it with the people outside your field. Some examples dating so, if you are a geoscientist for you dating, is probably determining the age of your sample, maybe a rock sample but more commonly.
This is the initial stage of a romantic relationship, so careful or stress generally, it’s a mental or an emotional strain, but scientifically it can mean a pressure, tension or exerted on an object. What about bar? I mean this is the unit of measure of atmospheric pressure, but don’t you usually go there for having drinks as well? So why don’t you think about one word in your field that may be misinterpreted or not understandable to the general public and try to find a more accessible alternative, so try really to use a specialized language only for a specialized audience, replace jargon when possible, with a Simple explanation of the concept or the process, and if you can’t avoid to use jargon, please make sure that you accompany that word with a simple example, but at the same time do not talk down your audience.
They are still knowledgeable people. So, using the same jargon, word that you choose in the previous exercise now try to substitute it with the simple explanation of the concept behind it, and now we go towards the structure of an actual blog post with blm. Okay. So now that, now that you have chosen both the topic and the target audience of your future blog post, the next step is to define how you want to present your content to the reader or, more specifically, to define the format of your future blog post.
So in the next few slides to help you do that, we will show you some examples of typical formats that can be used for a blog post. So a first option, if you decide to write a blog, is to write what we called here. A quick and short post, let me show you an example of it in this article here um, so typically in this short post, you won’t have any detailed explanations of the scientific processes that they are addressed and that will make this short.
This short post, very quick and easy to read, which means that they will typically target a quite general audience and also this short post can be very photographic, uh, for example, focusing on one central figure or picture as in our example. Here, another option is to write a long and more detailed post, as in our second example here, and the idea here is to tackle the subject more in depth and really take the time to explain the concepts and the scientific processes that are related to that subject, Which means that this longer pose can be a little a little bit more specific and maybe harder to follow if you’re, not from that specific field of study, which means that they might be addressing an audience which is a little bit more specialized.
You could also decide, as in our third example, to interview a person of interest and to then to transcribe the questions and answers of that interview in a nice way within an interview post, and the big advantage of these interview posts is that they will be very Personal and then easy to read and follow, and finally the last example that we are going to show you is opinion pieces such as the sassy scientists pose from the uh geodynamics division, blogs um.
So typically, the opinion pieces are are very subjective posts that leave room for humor or even sarcasm. If you want to so now, we propose you to pause the article and browse through the eg blocks for inspiration and try to choose a format that would work well. Both with your topic, but also the audience that you are aiming for so i’ve just shown you different formats that can be used for a blog post, but you might have noticed that actually um.
They are all based on the same, very basic principles that we call here the main pillars behind every good blog post and these main pillars are a good storyline, a catchy title, a hooking introduction, a fluent main body and nice pictures and layouts. So what we propose? You to do here is to grab a pen or maybe more uh, grab your keyboard if you prefer and actually start writing your own blog post.
So if you’ve never written any blog posts before or even if you have, but that you don’t feel very comfortable with it, don’t worry because we are going to guide you to guide you through each of these main pillars and give you some tips along the way And also note that we have chosen to organize these pillars in a specific order, which is, of course subjective and so feel free to um adapt it according to what feels right to you now before we get started.
Let me give you a first tip, which is don’t be afraid that your blog post is not perfect. Keep in mind that you are only making your first draft here and that the most important thing is to get started and then let the blog editors help you over the line. If you decide to submit your drive to our team after reading this short course so now, let’s start writing. So if you want your blog post to be fluent and easy to read, which is a very good thing for a blog post, a first important step is to try to define a good story for your blog post, meaning to decide what you are, how you are Going to organize your ideas, so try to outline what you are going to write in your post and a good tip for that could be to ask yourself some questions.
For example, what is the key message or information that you want to transmit to the reader, or why should the reader be interested in that specific topic or again? What is the information that is needed to transmit your key message in an efficient way or what are the implications for the reader or even for the future, so again, keep in mind that, according to the format or the audience that you’ve chosen for your post, you Might want to limit the number of questions that you are going to cover in your post and maybe focus only on one or two of these examples of questions here um so now.
The next step is to try to organize your answers to these questions. In a logical order and that logical order will make what’s what we call here, the structure of your blog post. So here to give you some inspiration, we go. We show you an example of a blog post with a very well thought structure, and so in that blog post, which is called the journey of a snowflake. The author wants to explain us the formation of snowflakes and so to do that.
She will start by explaining us what exactly is snow and then she will tell us the journey of a snowflake by going from waiter vapor to ice crystals and then from ice crystals to snowflakes and finally, from snowflakes to building a snowman. So a good tip that you could get also from reading these examples here is that you could use these questions or even the answers to these questions as subheadings to guide your reader through reading your posts, so now go ahead and try to list all the questions That you want to answer to in your post and organize bullet point them in a logical order to try to build the structure of your post.
So now, a next important step in writing and drafting your blog post is to write a catchy title. So you’re a headline is quite an import, important element of your blog post because it will really influence whether the reader wants to read the rest of your post or not. So a good headline could really make all the difference. So we know that you haven’t started. Writing your blog post yet, but we think that having a working title in mind, while writing your posts is a good thing because it can provide you with a sense of direction.
As you write and, of course, once you finish, drafting your blog post feel free to change and adapt your title into something that maybe provides a more accurate description of your final content. So now how to draft a catchy title so try to craft a headline that will accurately represent your post, but without sounding boring, um, also try not to be too long and maybe to limit yourself to six to eight words or around 140 characters.
So this is what is considered to be optimum for a good headline and finally – and maybe most importantly, try to be catchy and to do that, you can, for example, use puns or famous references, or you could even ask questions directly to the reader. For example, did you know that so here, to give you some inspiration, I will show you examples of headlines that were used within the ego division blocks.
So now what about you? So what could be a catchy title for your post and what i’ve proposed you to do now is to try a few headlines and show them, maybe to your friends and family, to try to figure out whether whether these headlines would make them want to read the Rest of your post or not, and next another very important element of a good blog post, is to having to have a good and hooking introduction.
So again we give you some tips here so try to hook people in with bold salesmen, so they want to read the rest of your blog posts. Also try to talk about what is going to be covered in the post, so to give the readers a quick overview of what they are going to learn, but don’t tell everything. So they still want to read more about your post and finally, and as valeria said before, try to use good keywords in your introduction again here we show you some examples of good introductions that were used in the egu blogs um to help you to get some Inspiration to now you draft a few sentences that will introduce the reader to your subject, but without revealing all of it and now for the following.
I will give the flow back to valeria all right, so you have maybe a catchy title by now. Maybe a short introduction: what about the rest of the post? So what you want to do now is create a good flow in the main body, so you may have convinced your reader to start reading, but now you have to keep their attention up until the end. So try to guide really your reader through your text by removing any possible obstacles.
Some of these obstacles may be scientific jargon, and we already talked about it before, but also try really to translate transition in a fluent way between paragraphs and don’t be too long and really try to avoid big walls of text. They are scary for readers, especially online. So try to use short paragraphs six to eight lines and not long sentences, usually 15 words work best and, very importantly, by the end of your blog post.
Deliver what you promise in your introduction, not something else, and you may deviate a little bit in their main body, but try not to go too far from your main subject. That could be the subject of another blog post later on that really try to stick to what you want to deliver in the introduction until the end. So an example of um connecting fluently paragraphs uh is from this blog post on the tectonic and structural science division block.
Let’s read it together so for centuries, chibita has been fighting against the natural degradation of the cliff, with recurring landslides slowly taking down the edges of the plateau, the top of the plateau consists of a 20 meter thick layer of consolidated rock formed from a can cache. Yeah, you might say that, well, I don’t really see why it doesn’t work well, it may work, but definitely the two paragraphs are not fluently connected one to the other.
If we add just a little more general introduction to the second paragraph, it reads much better. For centuries, chivita has been fighting against the natural degradation of the cliff, with recurring landslides slowly taking down the edges of the plateau, the geology of the plateau explains why this town is so prone to landslides. The top of the plateau consists of a 20 meter thick layer of consolidated rock formed from volcanic ash, but you can carry it much better.
I think so so. Try now to write individual paragraphs following your predefined stories with your introduction and try to make sure that there is a good reading flow until the end. And once you have done all that, you may go back and look at the layout of your blog post and make it pretty, because also the layout plays a big big role in convincing your readers to stay from start until the end, for example, keep in mind That out there there are quick readers, they want to pick keywords or key concepts and have them very visible in your main text so that they don’t have to read all of it if they don’t want to so make sure that your introduction stands out like we Said you can use sub eaters or in a different font, color or using golden italic, also in the middle of the text.
If you want to maybe underline a specific word of concept, please try to leave enough space enough white space between the different paragraphs and around images. These also help the eyes not to get too tired and use quotes to break the text so again, with maybe main concepts so that they are catchy and readers can can easily find them and another very important part of a blog post are images within it and That upcom accompany your text and sometimes gives the plus to the content of your post.
So try always to choose a header image and make sure that it stand out. That’s it’s also very important for later advertising. Your post, for example, on social media, but what’s really important and we like to stress out always credit the images you use, don’t steal them, check the copyright and of both photos and scientific figures and make sure that you are allowed to use them and again credit.
The owners there are, of course, sources of free images. For example, here we show some some website and in this presentation all the images came from unsplash or pixabay unless otherwise credited other sources of free images are, for example, national organization like nasa or isa and to wrap up on the layout and make it pretty um. Let’s go for two examples of the same blog post: in the first case, the left side, not much layouting was used.
So the text is all um the same size, font, the same same font, size uh. There is no bold or no italic. There is no quotes. Standing out so it’s pretty heavy. Also the white spaces are not that many. The paragraphs are really long and dense. Let’s see what happens when we add some subweddings or we use a little bit of a bold, to highlight the introduction. We also breaks break the paragraphs. A little bit more definitely this will read much more easier and won’t tire your reader eyes.
So now you have a text ready. Maybe a draft and the content is great, but what about the layout? So, let’s make it attractive. So now, head images figures: try to use different fonts play a little bit around with spaces and and white spaces as well, and make the structure as clear and as attractive possible, and now we pass the ball again to clara for the last part. So now we’re approaching the end.
Ideally, your blog post is ready, finished, looks nice and it is time to publish you have already decided before where you want to publish. So you publish it through your preferred outlet. Hopefully, you have gotten a bit of feedback before so that you are happy with what you publish and now comes the time that you want it to be read. So it’s time to share it. You can share it with your friends, your colleagues, your family, uh with other people as well, but of course you want to reach a larger audience, because you spend a lot of time.
Writing this blog post and you think it um. It is interesting what it contains. So you can reach also your target audience via email. If um, you know some lists, for example, who where people would be interested, but also on social media. Each social media has a different way of highlighting content, so keep in mind how you want to present it, but what they all have in common is that, additionally, to a catchy title, you want to write a short teaser of one to two sentences to get the People to click on the link to the post.
To do so, you can hook the reader with an analogy or a connection to current events or emotions you have to. As the word hook says, you have to get the reader with your teaser and your title so that the reader will click on the link and read what you have spent so much time and effort on. You can also use appealing keywords, as valeria already mentioned before. Hashtags are used in several social media platforms and again here either a header picture or if you, for any reason, did not use a header picture.
Another picture to increase the visibility, always remember what you would find interesting to click on, because this is also what other people might be interested in and as a closing exercise think about one platform. You would like to share your post on think about how what content this platform is specialized on write a short teaser to accompany your link and find a fitting picture if you’re not happy with your header picture, for example, so that’s it.
We hope that you have learned a lot. We had a lot of fun preparing this short course and we hope to hear your feedback or to read your drafts. We hope you enjoyed it, do not hesitate to contact us if you have any question if you’re interested in joining a blog team, if you do not know where to start, but you really like to do some science blogging do not hesitate to contact us. The worst is that we don’t answer you, but I don’t think we’re there.
We are motivated. We want you to communicate your science. If you have done all the practical exercises. Send us your draft and we’ll try to give you feedback in the next weeks, depending on how many drafts we get. We can also help you to get it published on one of the etu division blogs if you’re interested, if you don’t have your personal blog and you can find the email to which to send it here.
This will reach all of us here again if you’re interested in the links we had in the presentation you can find them in the youtube description below or in the slides, were also linked below. Thank you very much and yeah, and looking forward to your drafts, you
Quality and cost – and you get to have two of those – the project management triangle – Is that sometimes known is a valuable tool for prioritizing and Decision-Making, it’s often used as a throwaway tool in training courses, but It’s a powerful tool in the hands of a competent leader or marketing.
Professional you get to pick two of those, but you can’t have all three most People that have been in a business or a project management course at some time. I’ve heard of the project management triangle – it’s sometimes known, Alternatively, as the triple constraint or the iron triangle, Today, we’re going to apply it to social media marketing and rename it the social Media marketing triangle, so I can have a nice click.
Pd title just add some Confusion there are also variants on this model, but we’re going to be Chatting about time, quality and cost. The basic premise is this: there are three Main factors in all decisions – and you can only have two of them – let’s explore The triple constraint shall we, you can build a marketing campaign that is fast And cheap, but it probably won’t be very good quality or you can build a Marketing campaign that is cheap and of great quality, but it’s not going to be Fast or you can build a marketing campaign that is executed quickly and is A high quality, but it’s going to cost you a lot of money when defining a Project or series of work tasks there are boundaries and values that we need.
To work with them for me at the beginning of any major project, I need to Understand what the key priorities are given a situation, what does the Stakeholder of the project champion value the most. Is it time quality or Cost problems are going to occur, compromises will need to be made in Under these situations, what comes first, is it time, quality or cost? What comes Last say it with me time: quality or cost it’s never allowed to be, it depends or a Smirky little yes, and for the record, if the person leaving the project tries to Claim that all three are possible, while they’re a terrible person for a given Project deliverable or campaign strategy, there must always be a first priority in A last priority set without this confusion, indecision and ultimately Failure will rule, of course, the person paying the bill.
Will want all three, but they can’t have those the confident project manager, Knows this and helps the stakeholder to understand that you can have two, but not Three, this really manifests itself when it comes to problems and big barriers in The development of your campaign, things go wrong. The plan gets delayed things Need to be done, people need to sleep, life happens, so team members need to Understand before things go wrong, what your priority really is.
Any campaign With a price or cost is fixed before the campaigning starts as a disaster in the Making no matter how well you plan things are going to change when costs Are fixed before the scoping goals are determined you’re left with one of two Outcomes the campaign timing will be affected or the messaging, creative or Other elements will not be of the quality that you want in these Situations, low quality could mean less engagement, less reach and lower sales.
When the problems occur before a campaign, scope is even determined there. Is always a cost or penalty involved in this scenario, that cost could be a new Time constraint, spending money which wasn’t in your budget or the quality of The messaging, creative or the results of the campaign are just not going to live. Up to what your expectations were, time is the factor of speed when something Needs to be done by a certain date.
We can always make things faster by Throwing more resources at the problem, but that costs money equally, we can do It for the given time at the given cost, but then the quality slips money and Resources are the bedrock of all business decisions and everything costs Something sometimes we have extra budget to spend other times. We don’t sometimes We have more resources, sometimes we don’t. Quality is often difficult to Measure what’s good quality, what’s poor quality, often quality is in The eye of the beholder the bottom line for me regarding quality is fitness for Purpose, for example, is a cheap cup of coffee quality.
Well, if our need is to Get a quick buzz to help get us through the afternoon laws, then the terrible Caffeine-Fueled cup of gel and a Styrofoam cup will probably do the trick. But if our goal is to impress our flannel-wearing hipster friends with Aroma and sourcing embody and acidity and texture and creaminess and other Characteristics which make up an amazing coffee experience, Well, then, we need a much higher level of specification to meet the definition.
Quality can be said to be a distinctive attribute or characteristic possessed by Something if that attribute is missing. Well then, we tend to say that the Quality is lacking in marketing, especially in creative fields. The Quality is extremely subjective and must be trusted to a brand advocate on the Team who will push for business decisions to always be made with the Protection of the brand image culture and other characteristics in mind.
I have A belief that when you find yourself saying no more often than you’re saying Yes, the decisions are on marketing advertising and branding well you’re. Probably on the correct path to doing it right, All these factors contribute to the scope of a campaign, the boundaries of Your overall digital strategy and the stated goals or outcomes time quality And cost what they don’t tell you is that you can have any two, not three two So this model is taught at many courses.
Its name sometimes changes the Dimensions on the triangle sometimes vary, but all the documentation Literature that I’ve seen all MIT look to say that the keys to making this work Is discipline, focus and consistency once a priority order for a project has been Set you cannot pick and choose which to you apply this priority throughout the Project process the methodology works best when used as a set of underlying Principles behind a campaign as a whole, the social media, marketing triangle or Triple constraint, tool is a useful framework for all marketers and business Leaders to use as part of the planning when it comes to campaign strategy and Problem solving with everyone involved, knowing that constraints and priorities, Before the problems happen, it can make problem-solving, faster and more aligned.
With the needs of the organization, and one last thing, if you think you can Ignore this and barrel ahead with what you’ve been doing in the past. Well guess: What too, will get chosen for you by the very nature of the process? You’re, better Off being in the driver’s seat, how many do you get to pick you get to pick two Okay, now I’ve got a quick favor to ask. I started my first blog on YouTube in 2007, this past December, I deleted that account.
Why well I want to test the Tactics and techniques that I use for clients on myself, you see each year for Several years now I delete my followers on Twitter and December and I start over I’ve been doing this because it forces me to stay relevant by having to rebuild My account every year this year I decided to add Youtube to the mix, so I deleted the previous YouTube account that I had for 12 years and I’m starting over from zero, so I have a favor to ask.
Please head Over and subscribe to my youtube blog and mention my blog to your nerdy Marketing friends on MySpace and on your CompuServe listservs Thanks again, I hope you learned a thing or two in this article and that you’ll Come back and visit me again:
I know it is Saturday and it Saturday evening, and I believe that you would love to be anywhere else instead of being here thinking, but for now I would like to share a bit on the enforcement learning for marketing blog. Optimization touch me. This will be interesting, but then, for those good things that way there is a marketing there. Isn’t it too commercial? Let me clarify it this way.
This use case I’m using it to make sure that the case that we are using in the enforcement learning can tackle the real business problem and the way we solve this problem is quite broad so that you can apply this to many other problem related to your Industry and by the end of this presentation I will mention a bit on how enforce the other industries. So, let’s start in the next four thirty minutes, I think or 45 minutes.
Oh, we will discuss this topic in the beginning. We will start to discuss on the background while we discuss on marketing general problem and then we start to discuss on the enforcement learning about the h and we will combine them all and check the result. And finally, I will give you a bit on the final remark, so why marketing blog problem? I know this sounds a bit commercial. But if you are it at the article that tiny, if you cure that at the five four seven it has a lot of zero behind it.
So it’s no longer a trivial problem. We need to be quite wise to manage that budget allocation and not because it’s about money, but because it’s related on how our company will grow in the future and it’s in the same time. We want to make sure that the money is used well, so that the financial stability of the company, but I would like to share a bit on how it works. Basically, our marketers in Africa will define a particular level of budget and they will allocate the budget for particular marketing blog and from that marketing.
Blog user will see the ads and that will be counted as impressions and then, after the user clicks City ads. Some of them will be able to click the ads and those will be counted as clicks and after user clicks. Yet a fraction of them will be encouraged to buy the hour flight ticket or hotel ticket, and those will be called as customer acquisition and from customer acquisition. We cut our money if we see the problem earlier.
We know that there are two different objectives and it’s completely different in one side. In this side you see that marketers. If they’re KPI is solely on increasing customer acquisition, they will be very encouraged to pour out as money too much increase customer acquisition. But there is not a department or finance department and they won’t like it. We want to make sure that the budget that you pay to marketing blog agent is not infinite.
We want to make sure that it’s within our budget, so these two departments will keep debating maybe all day long, but maybe they keep it like one hour but in general, there’s two objectives are quite in the opposite side of our company. So how to approach this problem, how to make sure that the budget that we give to marketing blog action will be efficient well. In the same time, we can also manage to increase our customer acquisition.
Let’s take a step back on how to approach this problem by taking another analogy, because my patron is in supply chain and understanding. Let’s take a analogy from manufacturer, let’s say that you have a manufacturing and you just buy this robotic arm and your robotic arm. You want to make sure that this robotic arm can pick up ox for you, because paying people now is more expensive. We cannot put implementing it in two different perspectives.
That part is from optimization perspective, and this pink part will be in reinforcement, learning perspective. In optimization perspective, its conventional, you just make sure that the mistakes in picking how we will toss off the action taken in time T given that tip will be from 1 to n. Let’s imagine that taro Patek I’m in the position, zero and then PI in time. 1, the robotic arm will move up, it may be 15 decrease and maybe in time to the robotic arm will move, like maybe 30 degrees until time 10, for example, where that robotic arm is able to pick up the box.
But that requires planning and planning requires optimization. So, let’s imagine if we shift the box up it, then we will need to rerun the optimization algorithm again to make sure that the action taken is is able to fulfill our requirement. Let’s move to the right path, it sounds easy in reinforcement, learning which has stitched the robotic arm, pick the box, but then, if the robotic um take the wrong side, for example, let’s say the box in the left side and then the robotic arm moving for moving To the right side – and you say that the robotic arm it’s wrong – you should move a bit to the left, so that’s the basic of how the informal learning learning can be implemented in our analogy now, as we understand this analogy, the sting of the robotic arm As the technician that is required for the marketers to take in daily basis in terms of budget allocation in day one, they need to allocate particular budget and, in day two.
They also need to allocate particular budget until the end of the month. For example, where they’d want to make sure that the whole KPI, for example, the efficiency of their budget, is optimized, so by understanding that limitation, we finally chose to use reinforcement learning. Why? If we look at this table, there are three features equation to develop: computational efficiency and new trata. The first two, I think.
Maybe we are kind of understanding that optimization and reinforcement learning is on the same crown. It’s like I can take either optimization and reinforcement. Learning. No matter, whichever method that I will take because in optimization I will only need to think about objective and constrain, but in the enforcement I still do think as well, but I just need to define the word function: national efficiency in optimization.
It depends on how you formulate a problem. If the optimization problem is in terms of linear and it’s solvable, then it just takes maybe one or two second to solve the problem. But if the problem is nonlinear, then it will take some time to explore the solution. Space and it’s not good, especially when you’re marketers is very demanding and then, if you are using reinforcement, learning the training itself texts quite and if or even for simple problem.
But then, what the main reason of for us to use reinforcement learning is because of the third feature that I mentioned. We are expecting that we will have new data in daily basis and if we are implementing optimization here, imagine that, if we implement optimization having new data in telophase implies that we will have a new solution space in daily basis as well, and it will require us To keep rerunning the algorithm until you find the optimal solution, and that’s quite tedious actually and that’s why we are proposing to use informal learning.
Because, in the beginning, the training that takes a lot of effort will pay well, because it allows us to learn the parameter. That can map between current state and the proper action that should be taken to maximize tell you were checking who is here from computer science? Okay, so you guys are smarter than me. We will talk a bit on the enforcement running. I think you are already learning reinforcement, learning in college, so if I say something wrong, please correct me because I know you are from counter science.
This is just my simple understanding on what is reinforcement. Learning there is an interest and pheromone HN will have a current state and in the current state, action will take an action. The action taken will be received in the environment here with tech environment as our marketing general problem and from that action and pheromone will give response in terms of reward and that reward will allow the agent to move forward to the new state.
So to understand the thermos further, I think this one is for you. We haven’t learned, reinforcement learning here, we have motor motor is used to describe the environment, and policy is to describe how agent takes action and there is also a failure function and, according to my understanding, there are a lot of way to define value function in reinforcement, Learning because it describes the word of an action, and I think this is important, because the way you define the reward will you find how to hm detects the action and when you want to make sure that your agent texts, a proper action, you will need to Define value function carefully and here reward refers to the feedback based on the current step future.
What will you find cumulative this country work that I make this contact reward path, a pitbull and if you see the blue, the blue part and make it smaller of it, because it’s just count and then there is also state value action value, an advantage. The last three, I think, is closely related. State value is basically expected expectation of future. You are given particular state and action value is the expectation of future reward given state and action, and the advantage is the difference between put that value and action value to make it more intuitive.
Let’s think that if you have a higher action value, it implies that the decision taken given a particular action is better than having the average having the average that value, because, basically, that value is the average of everything. But the action value is the average given particular state and action. Now we want to learn more about the agent, so we will discuss this left part. We know that agent takes action, but then how does the agent learn to take good actions? There are a lot of way for the agent to learn to take good actions.
But here what I want to explain is policy Creighton method in which, basically, the agent that part will have a particular parameter that will be used for the policy to take action and that action will be implemented in the environment and the environment will result, in particular Value function and from that particular fault function there will be an optimization process from which the value function will be used as the basis to optimize the parameter use in the policy, so that one is just my rough understanding to be more specific.
What we are using now is proxima policy optimization, it’s specifically a type of policy creation method, except the three different plot that I have colored with in there. So we have aging and it still has particular parameter and it still has fallen see we will purchase we’ll use the parameter to purchase action sampling instead of action itself. So if you imagine, because we are here facing a marketing budget problem, it means that our problem is in the continued space.
So taking a deterministic action decision will not work. Well, that’s why we need an action sampling and this action sampling will be implemented in the environment and here from the hole, 5 value function. We will use advantage to peel the passage for the optimization and we also implement sort of constrain to make sure that the update on the policy parameter be drastically different, because a drastic update in PPO means that the algorithm will perform very unstable.
So here I would like to emphasize why we choose PayPal, because there are four point that I mentioned. Basically, the first point: maximize reward based on the policy is the strength of PPO, because it’s a part of policy clarity and method. Basically, it allows PPO topper performance better in continuous space and the use of action simply lost better exploration and the use of advantage lost a reduce variance.
The fourth point, I think, the key of understanding people, because if you see the passes of PPO is the RPO, which is a translation policy organization, and I think translation optimisation is different from the usual condition. I think we are underst, so transaction optimization is a different family of optimization, usually in machine learning. We understand condition as a part of line search method.
Basically, it stops based on the Creighton but introspection optimization. You are stepping within a certain translation, so you do not want to a step further if it’s outside your translation, because, basically you don’t really trust outside the transaction boundaries, and this is implied in PP OPA using clip mechanism, and this will help the algorithm to perform In a stable wide way so that it can help us during the training period.
Now, let’s talk about the environment, the environment is in the dead part. The thing unreal environment is expensive and it’s left it’s less likely for your company to pay for your experiments. What we do here is to place this complicated part with a single motor. It’s a simplification. Basically, we try to imitate what happens in the real environment so that we can use that model to sort of simulate what happens in the real world problem, but how? How can we create our model? There are two different approach here.
Direct who have heard about regression can trace Juergen. Should I explain okay so for those who has an understand, I think you can cook a letter, but the question is basically the way for us to map between input variable to make sure that we can produce output variable. So in the regulation we are treating data as random sample and the parameter is assumed to be fixed and the difference between data and twelve output will be treated as error.
That’s right there. We are only seeing one line because all is assumed to be fixed and everything else is computed as error. But if we see that one particular line, we see that there is no uncertainty there, because everything else is assumed as error, and we cannot use here this regression into our enforcement algorithm. Because you see you want to make sure that your agent is able to detect as attack as possible.
But then, if you are teaching them with fixed input, then you will be sort of doing a very non productive things. So what we do here, we are looking at patient recreation. Have anyone heard about patient attrition? No one, so patient regression is basically, I think, another way for us to approach more telling, instead of treating parameter as freaks, we treat parameter as probabilistic. In the second point, we will need Pryor for that, but it’s worth the effort because, basically, if you see there are a lot of lines because it’s trying to capturing the potential of uncertainty and that’s what’s happened in our real world and that’s why we are using Patient, so in the environment, we are using position regression.
Why? Because, even if the training takes effort, we are able to capture uncertainty and that allows us to teach the agent to text more smarter decision and we will combine them all so far combined. We have learned about reinforcement, learning agent, we have learned about reinforcement, learning environment and we have also learned about patient education, but then how to put things into places here.
I have created a sort of very simple map on how to combine those different things into one reinforcement: learning that allows us to take smarter decision. Oh, we will not learning it in sequence, but we will start with the more telling first, the first point, and then we start to learn about the beginning of the algorithm, which is in the second part, and then we will learn. The third part, which is the final part of the algorithm, so we will start in the first point, remember that in the mottling we are using patient regression in position regression, instead of assuming that y equal to a times X, plus B, we are assuming that Y.
Following particular distribution and that’s what happened here not say that Y is impressions and the X is action and holiday. We are treating impression as a sort of random variable that follows negative binomial distribution with parameter mu I and theta, and here parameter mu. I is defined as exponential of the long things insert a bracket, but if you see that long part inside the bracket is sort of similar to linear regression correct, so it’s like one step forward going from the usual inner equation that is not April to capture uncertainty.
To another met method called patient equation that can capture uncertainty. The same goes with link clicks. Basically, we assume that link clicks also following another tissue portion of negative binomial, with particular parameter that following the equation equation inside the brackets and in the end we have free worth, which is defined as by justified, appealing clicks and we have a lock function there and Minus sign there and this will be an input for componentry.
If you remember, abhorrently is the last part of the algorithm question: how to implement position regression Wi-Fi Stan because it has an extensive documentation, it it’s quite reliable and it has a variety of functions and for those who have read Python documentation, it’s quite extensive and it Is able to capture Safra function that maybe is not available in utter patient, patient type for off library such as pi, MC or edwards? Next, in the second part, this part, I try to simplify it to make sure that it’s similar to the one in policy creation, but in our implementation we are modifying a bit to make sure that there is also a part of it that can help the agent To also predict well the reward that will be given by the environment, so, instead of having policy network only, we will have also value Network policy network, as its name is a network that is used to sort of taking a good position, and this can be done As policy Network producing action parameter and that action parameter is used for action, sampling which will go to the first part of the our map, that computer part and the failure network will be used to predict state value.
And this will go to the third part of our map, so value network and policy network. The input is only state and if you want to make it more complicated, you can also take into account your action into the network, but that will be in other cases and then this is the and a combine our reinforcement, learning algorithm. We will calculate the advantage and also make sure that it will be optimized. How remember that, for this third part, we have two different inputs, pre-work from the first more telling in python, and also predicted state value, which is come from the second part of the map.
And we can use those two to make sure that we have an optimized parameter for our value network and in the same time, we can also use that to calculate the advantage and then make some adjustment by using importance, weight and prep mechanism. And we can use it to optimize policy network so that we can improve the parameter for policy network, but seems the computer requires we can okay for the algorithm.
We use my touch here. Why? Because this is still our initial study, so we are planning to develop it mark. But for now, because this is initial study, we will require a lot of test and error to check what happens in the when it’s exposed to real environment. But in short, we are using five touch because it’s flexibility and it’s also easy to debug and also for convenience, especially for pyro. When you are understanding that you want to make sure that there is violation mechanism that you want to involve in your algorithm.
Having pyro. In your library is quite and convenient because it allows us to explore probabilistic rocker programming in our neural network, so Theresa. If you see here after a 100 iteration, the failures quite converse and importantly, the reward is also keeps increasing until it saturate at around 8800 iteration and from there. I would like to continue to finally map what we have done so far. We have made sure that we see it a real-world problem and we use that real-world problem to Motel the agent temperament to make sure that we have equipped erm water and then we are training and checking the result of the motel, which that is kappa /.
A simple rational decision maker, but then what’s next in term of motor component, especially in the past, an area. Personally, it’s my interest to adding to add dependence to the other states and maybe also to add seasonality Antron, because this initial study, we try to make it as simple as possible to make sure that it’s really rational, as it says, and in term of other project. This is for you who thinks that marketing is too commercial, but by understanding all of the framework that I have explained earlier.
I think, having this framework to be implemented in production planning, logistic and industrial automation is also worth to try, especially because, if you think further, because in production, planning and logistic, usually the one who implemented those three. Those production, planning and logistics are human and most of the time they are quite flexible and adaptable to see what happens in the real environment, but in the same time they also have pauses, and this process and their colleagues sometimes make some point, be rational and I Think it’s worth to try to see what happens when we are developing a sort of smarter agent to make an automatic decision-making so that we can at least guide the human who texted realization to make sure that decision is still rational along the way.
So, for reference, this is based on the compilation of the work of many people, especially from the pepper from Sherman, and also a lot of tutorial from many other article and for those who wants to learn more about passion. Statistic I’m suggesting the tenth point, and this is also the result of me asking so many people and I’m glad that they are not kicking me out yet and also the marketing team that allows me to explore this use case for PyCon.
Thank you measure, Koscheck. Okay, with a kind of no it’s a country – Oh so let’s say that you have a solution: space tip to speak, but in PPO you try to limit yourself. Also, let me start it again. You have this ocean space to speak and you are in this point and the optimization algorithm says: if you want your parameter to be Aquaman, you have to jump that far, but in PPO you do not want to jump that far, because jumping that far will allow Your algorithm to be unstable, so you are limiting yourself in a tiny Q peak to make sure that you are not jumping that work, but something this small and that constrain is implemented in a simplified way by using creep mechanism with mechanism is basically just saying.
I just allow myself to start as much as maybe s 1 centimeters instead of 9 kilometers, the bundle. Oh so it’s a hyper tuning parameter in PP. Oh, it’s like an epsilon parameter where you allow 1 plus epsilon and 1 minus Epsilon. So this is the way the data is presented. Basically, we have a temple, the content, historical data and that historical data basically have an X in terms of action and quality.
Whether the action is taken is in the holiday or not, and we use it to train how many impressions and how many links and how many reward, but this model is used to make an imitation for the real environment. So it’s used as the black box here. If you have freed a bit on how to implement the enforcement learning most of the time, we are not using sort of more telling all most of the time they use important AI.
You try to run a simple panda loom or to make sure that a car will move around, but that sort of physical mechanism is already defined by the library team ai. But here we are replacing that library by using patient relation very good question. My god is quite messy right now and I think, because of the limitation of time I haven’t, submit my cut to the HR. In the same time, I need to make sure that my business trip is reimbursed.
So I think after this you can email me and maybe we I can make sure that the code is quite neat for to be shared yeah. Oh no! No, the one that we compare is the basic one, because when we replace this with when very, but when we are intending to replace human with this edge – and we want, they will be very afraid correct. So what we are comparing is what the real human will take, the decision it will take and we compare it with the result of this algorithm and the difference is not that big, I’m not expecting for the algorithm to be in the most Cockerham.
But the difference is much less than 5 %, so I think for the potential of engine optimisation for the for the potential of having make having to make it automated. I think it’s worth in the future to tie my father. Excuse me: can you motel free? Oh, I think this one is more Terry yeah, PPOs, motel free so for a particular marketing blog. We will have time for marketing teams and they are sort of giving us the collection of historical data or in day one how much money they pay and how much impression ticket and link clicks.
This is me in this article. I want to go over a subject that I just blogged about, and that is the web designers roadmap for 2011. So what this is is basically an outline of skill sets that a complete web professional – you know whether it be web designer web programmer should work towards, given what the demands are today on the web.
So let me just translate that into English. I’ve loaded up the outline right here and yeah. So let’s just look at the list, so we have HTML CSS, PHP basics, javascript, jquery, wordpress, OPP, HP, html5, css3, iphone ipad development. So this is a list of the technologies and i’m sure some of you are familiar with these things in the order in which you need to learn them. I’r not saying that you need to know all these things to be a web designer or to be a web programmer.
All saying is that, in the order of priority, you need to learn these things and the more you know the more chances you’re going to get work and the higher your fees you’ll be able to charge for your time. Of course you see if you know HTML and CSS very basics, of course, of any site – that’s good! You might be able to get some jobs with that if you’re a good designer. But you add a little bit of PHP on top of that and I can tell you that you’re almost guaranteed to get significantly more work and you’ll start entering into an area where you’ll be able to charge more for your time.
Then you spice that up a little JavaScript. You know all these things that we see the sliders and so on. So if I go to I go to killer sites like this slider here that we see this is all done with javascript jquery. So knowing that has certain advantages so back to my outline, so Oh skip HTML CSS PHP basics. Again, I’m looking at this from the point of view that you are a junior web designer or web designer with some years of experience, but you’ve never programmed before, and all I’m suggesting here is not that you become a PHP programmer.
Although there are certain advantages to that, all I’m suggesting was number three here is that you learn at least the basics of the PHP language, so you can get you so you can get around it, so you can work with it. As you probably know, you know, a lot of the common elements of a modern web site are built with PHP these days or some competing language, although PHP by far and away is the most popular.
So what are we talking about things? I’r talking about things like shopping carts, e-commerce systems, blog’s content management systems, blogs like wordpress content management systems like joomla, drupal, etc; many forms and contact systems and social networking systems. These things are all built with PHP and you’re, going to find more and more of your clients or people you work for, and I’m going to need to implement to put these type of things into websites and if you don’t know, PHP, it’s going to be real.
Real pain in the butt so to get I’m not saying you should have the PHP skills to be able to build these things from scratch, but having certain basic PHP skills will allow you to install and work with these things and modify these type of systems. Much much more easily working along with PHP many times is, of course javascript javascript is one of these must learn web programming language. The javascript works in the web browser where, as PHP works on the server, if you don’t understand that just go to killer sites, calm or a killer, article store, calm and learn about the differences.
Essentially, javascript is an essential language. You have to learn today because so many things in today’s modern web site requires the use of javascript. You see JavaScript pal, with the help of packages like jQuery, which I listing point number. Five are used all over the place these days to create all kinds of fancy. Page widgets, like the slider, showed you before in dynamic menus and all kinds of other things that you know countless things really in effect, in fact, jQuery is replacing many times flash where you would use flash before with jquery and similar packages like script oculus, although jQuery Is the most popular flash is being replaced? Just to summarize, and just in case you don’t know, jquery is age, you have a script library, that’s free that pre packages, if you will always type of all these types of widgets and sliders and so on.
So it’s really really something you should learn. WordPress number six wordpress wordpress is the most popular blogging and content management system out there. It may not necessarily be the best. I can’t comment on that in comparison to Drupal and Joomla. I’ve used Drupal a little bit all. I can say is that if you got a big big site to build build up, then drupal might be a better choice for you.
We use WordPress extensively hot killer sites and on the killer sites network because because we just were used to WordPress, it has a lot of built-in functionality and it has a huge community which provides you with a lot of support. The point to take away about WordPress is modern. Web design is that these days, I would suggest everybody pick a blogging edge in like wordpress or or full CMS a drupal or joomla and then base much, if not all, of your web design work on these platforms on these products.
Why? Because they’re free and because they provide a whole bunch of functionality for free the days of building static websites, are becoming less meaning HTML, only without dynamic components without being database driven and so on. Those days are quickly fading, so you might as well learn one of these packages, work, crew, pal or juma and start basing all your web design work on that, because you’ll be able to go in there and be much more competitive relative to people who don’t understand These things don’t work with these things every day, simply because you’re going to be able to provide much more bang for the buck.
If you will point number 700 PP HP now this is for people who are not necessarily web designers. This is for people who want to take it to the next step, want to learn how to actually build PHP based websites, application things that are a little bit more complex than your typical. You know, contact forms and so on. The reason I mention OPP HP is because object. O P is short for object-oriented programming and object-oriented programming programming is the modern style programming.
It’s used in many languages, including PHP, Ruby, Java JavaScript to certain extent, because javascript is more of a prototypical language, but that’s really getting to nerd details in terms of you know most functionality in terms of using javascript everyday, its object, oriented the whole point of this Is that object-oriented programming, once you learn in PHP, or once you learn in Ruby or Java? You know object-oriented programming and many of the systems I mentioned before: wordpress joomla drupal, to a certain extent, if not totally, depending on the package, our object, oriented based, meaning they use object-oriented structures.
So if you understand the principles of object-oriented programming, you understand how to work with it. It’s going to make your life much easier again. This is getting into a level here with Opie. It is not terribly important for web designers of what will be kind of helpful. This is more, for people want to get into the programming anything’s I yeah. So let me just recap: you very quickly in terms of the list from one through nine, I would suggest that one to six from HTML to WordPress.
These are things that I would say all web designer should learn and it looks pretty daunting. I would imagine, but actually it’s not as difficult as you’d think. As you know, HTML CSS, what are more challenging things to learn, is actually CSS even more challenging some respects because of browser quirks and inconsistencies. Php basics is actually pretty easy, especially go to killer PHP com. We make it stupid easy terms of you know.
Seven, eight. Nine we’ll get into that will seven that’s more in the realms being a pure programmer. Let’s get into a number eight here, html5 and css3 see this is the new version of these two languages. Html CSS and I separated them, because what html5 and css3 brings to the play is different from HTML and CSS. The current widely used versions of these technologies and what I mean is that they provide a lot of functionality like HTML, has article embed capabilities and animation capabilities and so on.
Although I haven’t looked at the animation, keep I was told that so you know I’m not confirming that css3 again all kinds of capabilities it just makes it really easy to do things. A reason I separated is because right now, html5 and css3 cannot be used on your typical standard web site of all. This is quickly changing and the reason you can’t use on your standard, your typical web sites, because there’s still quite a few people who are using web browsers that don’t understand html5 and css3.
But this is changing, quick, because Google, Microsoft Firefox apple and are all pushing everybody to adopt to use the latest and greatest browsers, which read all this. This is the future. This is something that have to learn and if you’re developing sites or little applications for ipads, iphones or android phones, html5 and css3, they read all these things and these are going to be very important.
These being you know the people using the pads and the phones smartphones. So it’s going to be it’s you. It’s a huge market, that’s growing, bigger and bigger every day, so you might as well get into it whether or not your programmer or just a web designer learn it it’s going to pay off dividends very quickly, if not right away. Finally, is a ipad and iphone development if you learn html5 and css3, that will take you a long way what you need to do as a web designers just explore what you can do, what iPads and iPhones and just get familiar with it, so that, if you Get approached in terms of developing a site, you make, you know for vez and they will add some extra functionality.
At least you’d be familiar with your options. There we’re going to get into this extensively at killer sites in the near future. So I’m like I get into here. I just want to make a quick comment about flash I’ve been a fan of flash since its inception, we’re actually back in the day. I think he was nineteen. Ninety something it was actually owned by another company was called future splash and it evolved into a very powerful platform for developing all kinds of things.
The problem is, is what flash is now dying and I think, in large part, because of Apple you see, Apple basically does not allow flash to run on iPhones or iPads, and since there are hundreds of millions of iphones and since ipad is going to be, it Still is it, is it’s going to be V dominant, pad being used out there? I believe by the end of 2012 they’re expecting somewhere in 100 million plus iPads being used, they won’t run flash.
So if you want to reach this very large segment of the web audience you cannot, you cannot. You can’t have pages that rely on flash and now to add, on top of that, with purple with packages like jQuery JavaScript, libraries like jQuery and html5 and css3 it really. These technologies, which are free and open, don’t require plugins and the browsers don’t require the people install special extra doodads into their web browsers these tools, jquery html5 sistership.
They replace much about all of the functionality of the capability that flash gave you so it’s. I would not be investing in flash now. That’s all I’m saying: we’ve actually stopped any future production of flash training articles because we see about writing on the wall. I don’t want to lead people down the wrong path. You know you’re much better off learning, jquery, html5, css3 pen, you would be flash as far as I can tell going forward.
Let me close off of a couple of final comments again, as I mentioned before, you don’t need to learn all these technologies to build a website or to be a successful web professional, whether your web designer or web programmer, but there are certain basic. So, for instance, three points number one: if you, if you just want to build the site small site for yourself or your own little bit this knowing one and two, basically, basically HTML and CSS, it’s probably more than enough for you to sort of get things going.
So you can create a simple site at pages and images that kind of stuff. Then you find, if, though, you want to become a web designer, you should know one through six HTML CSS PHP basic JavaScript, jQuery WordPress, and I explained why that was the case before well. If you want to be competitive, you know that’s what you should do. Finally, if your web programmer, you have to learn, of course, all these things one through eight, and if you really want to take advantage of what’s hot now, you want to get to iPhone iPad development, whether that means understanding, html5 and css3, and how that works with Eyeball iPad iPhone or if you want you to go real crazy, if your programmer get into objective-c, where you can really take full advantage of the ipad iphone hardware.
One thing I don’t mention is document, of course, is android. Android is as a global platform as an audience. It’s going to be it’s already bigger than I phone and iPad. Not a problem is, is that Android has several versions and they don’t play perfectly consistently across the versions and across the device at sea, whereas Apple controls, everything they sell. I they sold off the phone hardware and the software and a pad hardware has software.
Everything is consistent, whereas apparently with the Android, which is a great operating system, it’s not consistent, so Android 3.12 might be different on 3.13, etc. I’r just ponies these numbers out of my you know out of the air, but you get the idea, so you got ta really consider that aspect of it as well. I joyed development is going to be extremely important, going forward, of course, and again, html5 and css3 is a great cheap way to sort of get into that cheap, meaning easy to do so.
You want to consider as well in terms of developing applications for Android and android-based tablets and phones. I believe the base language is Java, so that’s a whole kettle of fish and so yeah anyway they’re you’re going to have to sort of make a choice personally right now you have to look at what I would suggest in terms of choosing android become an android Expert or ipad iphone expert you have to in terms of rented code and so on.
I would look at what type of sites or programs you’re going to want to build, because you find that certain groups of people may be more attracted to Android versus people. More attracted to iPad so yeah we’re concentrating on ipad iphone simply because education and apple go hand in hand and since we’re in the education market, that’s what we are going to work on. I hope you found this podcast useful and we shall talk very soon.
We’re going to talk about Bitcoin, investing for beginners and we’re looking at can Bitcoin be shut down. This is a naysayers guide to Bitcoin. So should I buy Bitcoin now or wait we’re going to give you ideas to help you take profits and avoid losses? Can we get this article to 99 likes smash that, like button, it really helps us out.
I’r not a financial adviser. What you’re about to hear this is not financial advice. This is my opinion, so the first thing we’re going to look at is the Bitcoin market. Now, today is 6:38 in the morning Central Standard Time, and it is April. 27Th. 2020. It’s a beautiful Monday. So right now bitcoin is trading at seven thousand, seven hundred and nine dollars. It’s up almost 1 %, just shy of 1 %, and you can see here that the Bitcoin dominance is 64 % and changing as we speak.
Now. The dominance is something that we’re going to talk about a little bit later in this article. It becomes part of our subject, so we may even come back to this slide. Now the subject of this article often oftentimes my articles, we try and take three or four different articles. This article, I’m going to focus on just the one can Bitcoin be shut down. This is a naysayers guide to BTC. The Bitcoin network has been standing strong for more than a decade and it would take a highly coordinated effort from competing players to bring it down.
Bitcoins future has many possible outcomes, but death is among the least likely of them all kind of like the image here. With a gravestone with Bitcoin on it, so key takeaways Bitcoin has been running 24/7 without incident from more than 10 years straight. There are more than 10,000 Bitcoin nodes standard scattered all across the globe, and governments can prohibit Bitcoin, but they cannot kill it.
So, let’s get back to the 10,000 Bitcoin nodes. The way Bitcoin runs is somebody sets up. What’s called a node, a node is they’re running a computer, that’s connected to the internet and on that computer is running software that makes the Bitcoin network exist. So, in order to really destroy Bitcoin, you have to shut down all of the existing nodes. If there were no nodes out there, that was running the Bitcoin software, then Bitcoin would cease to exist, but because there’s thousands of nodes scattered all over the world, it makes Bitcoin actually exist and gives it the possibility of thriving the people who wrote the Bitcoin software Made it what’s called open source and that simply means that anybody can download it, install it on their computer and run it at no cost to them.
You don’t have to pay Microsoft, for example, in order to buy the software and run it. You can just run it without paying any specific, individual or entity. So Bitcoin has been dealing with skeptics and naysayers for more than a decade when Satoshi Nakamoto first shared his life’s work publicly, it was met with little enthusiasm. Instead, the feedback was mostly critical and listed all the ways the idea would fail.
You ever had a good idea and everybody started telling you how come this is not going to work well. Satoshi Nakamoto went through the same thing since then. The protocol is improved and hundreds. If not thousands of companies have been built on Bitcoin. In fact, you know when you say that, did you know that Microsoft Starbucks and the company that owns the New York Stock Exchange teamed up spent half a billion dollars and four years building? What’s called that be a KKT? The backt exchange was built by those three companies, Microsoft, Starbucks and the company that owns the New York Stock Exchange.
All three are multi-billion dollar companies and they’ve invested half a million dollars into creating a Bitcoin exchange and now they’re soon going to be releasing an app for your phone. That will let you buy and sell Bitcoin along with a whole bunch of other things, and so it’s actually quite interesting so when they say that a lot hundreds, if not thousands of companies have been built on Bitcoin.
That’s just one example. There are so many examples of other companies that are built on it. Still. The criticism remains constant high profile, economic economists, bankers investment, fund managers, everyone except the Queen of England, really have voiced their opinions and prophesized bitcoins inevitable demise. But the interesting thing is is that to date none of them have accurately democ predicted demise of Bitcoin one decade and 115 exha hashes of hash rate per second and roughly a hundred and fifty billion dollars a market capitalization later, and it can be said that such Cricket critics stand corrected.
Well, let me break this down a little bit. So a hundred and fifteen exa hashes, that’s the measure of the computing power. That’s currently mining Bitcoin, it’s a combination of the nodes and then also includes the hash rate of miners, and so miners connect to nodes and and create the entire Bitcoin network and there’s a way that they measure that processing power, that computing power and that measurement is Called EXA hashes, so, let’s for a moment, take a look at the chart, so this is the last 1 year.
This is the one year chart of EXA hashes and you can see how it starts here. At 45, EXA hashes a year ago, hit a peak of a hundred and twenty-one and then at the same time that everything crashed as far as the stock market and other assets, including the computing power on the Bitcoin network, also crashed. And then you can see that it’s come back up a hundred and eighteen versus a hundred and twenty one.
So it came very close to this previous high and then dropped down just a little bit over over the recent few days and weeks. And so I want to share with you a couple of other charts, so this is the one-year chart. Let’s take a look at what it looks like over the last three years and so three years ago the computing power on the Bitcoin network was 3.9 x, a — hashes and recently it peaked at 121, EXA hashes, and so that’s a I don’t know how many Times that is it’s not quite a hundred times because it would have to have been at one point to for it to have been a hundred times, but that’s a significant increase in the amount of computing power.
Think of it this way, every time it goes up. Somebody else has added another computer to the Bitcoin network and every time you add another computer to the Bitcoin network, that’s one more computer that would have to be turned off in order to shut down the Bitcoin network, and so this EXA hash, this hash rate measurement, Is really in a way to measure all of the processing power, because one computer has a lot of processing power and another computer has only a tiny bit of processing power.
But every single computer adds up together to give us a total number, and I don’t want to muddy the waters too much, but there’s lots of different ways that miners use equipment to mine Bitcoin. Some of them are computers. Some of them are what’s called graphic cards, so in your computer there’s a card that drives the monitor and they call that a graphics card, and so some people use graphic cards in order to mine Bitcoin, and that adds to the hash rate.
Another thing that people will do is they’ll buy, what’s called a sick mind asi see. I see I don’t remember how to spell it. The bottom line, an ASIC minor, is an application-specific integrated circuit, and that means that they built this small box they’re, usually a little bit smaller than a shoebox in size for an ASIC minor and those things have chips in them. That the only purpose for that chip is to mine, Bitcoin or mine, whatever cryptocurrency it was built for and those chips are anywhere from 30 to 40 times faster than using a graphic arts.
Graphic cards were at one point, one of the fastest ways to mine Bitcoin provided the most hash rate to mine Bitcoin, but ASIC miners came around. I don’t know if it was three years ago or five years ago, but several years ago, ASIC miners started becoming more and more popular because they had more hash rate and you could buy them for a lower price than you could get comparable hash rate out of Gpu miners out of graphic card miners, and so anyway, the bottom line to this whole story is: you can see how the hash rate has been growing over the years.
In fact, if we click on this link here for the all-time graph, you can see how it was for for many many years. It was significantly less than one. I mean all the way through here, it’s less than one tera hash and then in here around August 2016. In fact, here’s where, from April of 2016 to today it’s increased by 100 times to get to that 121 EXA hash. So anyway, the bottom line is is because of the hash rate.
That’s measuring the amount of computing powder around the world makes it extremely difficult to shut down all of those computers, especially when I mean they’re, located and virtually very close to every country around the world, and so just makes it quite difficult to shut down the entire Network, so what could possibly kill? Bitcoin one strategy is the so-called 51 % attack, where a malicious entity gains control over the majority of the networks, hash rate and effectively takes over the system.
51 attend 51 % attacks are one of the most legitimate threats to Bitcoin. The centralized manufacturing of mining equipment can lead to some bad outcomes, but the most dangerous scenario is one where there is a concentration of hash power. Specifically, one company may control more than half of the hash power on the network. Consider the cost of executing such an operation at the time of this writing.
It costs more than half a million dollars per hour to sustain a 51 % attack on Bitcoin, and so what are they? What do it? What does this really mean? What they’re talking about is, if you bought enough computers, that your total hash rate was greater than 51 % of the hash rate on the entire network. This would allow you, because you had control over it, to rewrite some of the data in the network, thereby granting yourself a lot of Bitcoin and by giving yourself a whole bunch of Bitcoin, all of a sudden that makes you wealthy or wealthier, but the point that They’re, making here is that the cost, in order to do that is, is very, very significant.
In fact, according to this website, which is crypto, 51 crypto 51 says that a 51 % attack on Bitcoin would currently cost 847 thousand dollars and 98 and 988 dollars for a one hour attack it’s. In other words, it’s almost a million dollars per hour. In order to attack the network, but that’s not the only hurdle you have to overcome not just having more hash rate, more hash power than anybody else in the world, but let’s dig into this a little bit further.
The attacker would also need to coordinate all of these features without any one noticing, with over 10,000 Bitcoin nodes operating around the world, it would be near impossible to sneak a 51 % attack by so many observers. In other words, you may be able to create enough hash power to have more than 51 % of the total hash rate on the Bitcoin network. The problem you’ll have is all of the other 10,000 nodes operating around the world.
Going hey, wait a minute. Somebody just did something they shouldn’t be doing, and if all these other people noticed, then that that destroys your opportunity for making money and it destroys it for several different reasons. One people would stop using the Bitcoin network because you or whoever the person was that had dial, that hash power hacked it and altered it, so that they had an advantage. And then the second thing is: is that all these people running these nodes would simply merge off a new version of Bitcoin, deleting the records where you had moved that money to your own account.
Thus, deleting all the advantage that you spent all that money getting and they would just fork off Bitcoin into a brand new fork and and start mining it. In fact, if you look at look back over history, a lot of the not a lot but a number of the existing cryptocurrencies existed because they are Forks where they took the existing Bitcoin code and they made some tweaks and they modified it a little bit.
And then they created a brand new Kirke cryptocurrency, but that cryptocurrency was based off of the previous software and the previous blockchain database that was used for Bitcoin up to the point in time where they forked it off of the existing network, the existing blockchain and database. That runs the current version of Bitcoin, and so not only would they have the issue of trying to make sure that they had 51 % of the power, but they also really need to do it in a way that no one else would notice it, which is Pretty highly unlikely, given that there’s over 10,000 nodes now this picture doesn’t give you a definitive conclusion on every single country that the bitcoin is in, because some of these dots are so small that they can’t actually cannot actually be seen in the map.
There’s more than 98 countries around the world that currently have bitcoin nodes, but here’s another thing: if you were running a Bitcoin node in a country where you may be breaking some of the laws, then you’re going to use a VPN network to hide the physical location Of your soft of your hardware and thus you’ll, look like you were in mining from a different country when the reality is is maybe you were located in a country that was not so friendly to Bitcoin and you just chose to hide it.
So there’s there’s a likelihood that many of these countries that don’t show any Bitcoin nodes actually do have Bitcoin nodes, because the owners are actually hiding the fact that they’re in there in a Bitcoin node. But you can see by these larger circles and the darkness of the circles where a lot of the hash hash rate or Bitcoin nodes are located. We can see a lot in the United States. We can see a lot of them in in Europe and around the European Union.
We can see quite a few down around Hong Kong and Singapore and other Asian countries and so and then that we can see a number down here in Australia and there’s quite a number throughout China in different areas throughout China and even into Russia and so they’re. All over the place, these are that kind of the Russian nodes, and then a lot of the Chinese ones are down in this area. So just a large log Bitcoin has built up a huge network and it’s because of that huge network that the entire system has a lot of security.
Once the alarms had been rung around social media, many users would begin selling their holdings recovering the five hundred and sixty five hundred and fifty six thousand spent on attack. The network thus becomes difficult and that figure has changed to over $ 800,000. So once people started selling off driving the price down there, the people who did the hack would have a tough time recovering the money that they spent in order to hack the network.
Bitcoin core developers would also fork the protocol around the attackers before this scenario ran its full course concluding. It becomes quickly. It quickly becomes clear that it is. This is reasonably in an ineffective venture, assuming that the attacker wants to overtake the network for profit. What if they have no ulterior motive except to destroy Bitcoin, a 51 % attack still wouldn’t be the way to go, even though bitcoins price would undoubtedly suffer damage in the short run, bitcoins network can easily mitigate such threats and continue to operate with minimal incident.
So can’t beat Bitcoin be banned by different countries. Absolutely there’s been countries out there, all along that have banned it. China is a great example of that. China has had this love-hate relationship with Bitcoin. They love the miners, they hate people, doing exchanges and buying and trading and putting their money and finances into Bitcoin. And so, while it’s legal to mine, Bitcoin, it’s illegal to buy Bitcoin, which is just a strange thing, sure it can there’s nothing stopping regulators in any country from around the world from prohibiting the use of Bitcoin in case there are any constitutional considerations.
Regulators can still find ways to make Bitcoin a cumbersome and unappealing to use as possible, but can regulatory agencies ban destroy Bitcoin? No, not really, it would undoubtedly have some short-term price implications, but the network and the protocol would remain intact again. They would just literally have to go all around the world to all these different countries, shutting down the nodes and order to actually achieve that, and so, while they may be able to make it ban, it make it difficult for people to buy it.
It would affect the price in a for a period of time, but the end result is that the protocol would remain intact. Some experts in the field, like the author of the Bitcoin standard, have even argued that the banning the top cryptocurrency could have a positive effect on adoption. A social phenomenon known as the Streisand effect attempting to hide, ban or even cover something up. Inadvertently draws more attention and interest from onlookers, and so you know it’s kind of like trying to ban drugs.
Every country in the world has laws against drugs, and yet they can’t seem to completely stop drugs from getting into their countries and from people actually purchasing those drugs. So what about Bitcoin competition theoretically possible, but highly unlikely bitcoins appeal, doesn’t originate from its technological superiority over cryptocurrencies on the market. Many would argue that Bitcoin isn’t technically superior and that other cryptocurrencies have better features, including faster transactions and greater flexibility, and that’s definitely true.
There’s other cryptocurrencies that have been created since Bitcoin began that in many different ways have better features. Greater flexibility are much faster transactions, etc, etc. But the reason why bitcoin is still King out there is simply because so many people are using it. It’s a more of a what’s called a network effect and what a network effect talks about is sometimes the best technology is not the technology that everybody uses.
Let’s take Windows is an example. When Windows came out in the 90s Windows was not the best operating system out there, there were other operating systems that existed that were actually in many ways better than Windows. In fact, then, better than microsoft’s um disk operating system do s. Msd OS was the operating system during the 80s for Microsoft, and then they came out with Windows and when Windows first came out in the 90s, it was very, very clunky.
It was very difficult and cumbersome to use Apple’s. Software was much much better than Windows, but here’s the catch Windows, Microsoft’s operating system started as a as the software that IBM personal computers were running on in the 80s and because of the name of IBM backing those pcs and Microsoft. Writing the operating system. For those pcs, Microsoft gained market dominance, in other words, 80 %, 90 % of the computers out.
There ran on Microsoft’s operating system and because it was such a large number, it wasn’t any longer about which one was the best it was about which one does everybody use, and so, as a result, because Microsoft had such a market dominance, it continued on and Windows Is the most used computer operating system out there, even though it hasn’t always been the best? So it’s not always about being the best sometimes adoption or the number of people using something using a particular thing is far more important.
You know even take a look at today. We have CD players, but there was a day back in the 90s, where there were two different article formats. There was beta and VHS, and so when you went to Best Buy, you might buy a beta player in order to buy movies and play them at home, or you might buy a VHS player to play VHS tapes. Now the tapes that worked in the beta machines. Don’t work in the VHS machines.
The problem was: is that VHS, even though wasn’t beta was better quality beta had a better image quality beta was longer lasting. There were a number of good things about beta that made it a better two ecology than VHS, but the people who made beta charge so much money that beta never gained enough adoption. The people who made VHS they knew that their technology wasn’t as good, and so they just simply made it cheaper and because it was cheaper, a lot more people bought the VHS machines a lot a lot.
More manufacturers made the VHS machines, because that was another thing about Veda. Is they locked it in, and so they were the only company that sold it. That today, you can’t find a VHS or a betta machine out there, because both of them have been replaced by CDs and DVDs, but here’s the important thing to notice from that. It was more about adoption that made it the dominant player and not about which one was really better, and a lot of people miss that in their cryptocurrency conversations they’re so focused on which one is the better technology that they miss.
The fact that the one that has the greater adoption is oftentimes, the one that rules the roost, not because it’s better but because everybody uses it and right now, bitcoin is the one that has the 64 percent adoption. The vast majority of people who have investments in cryptocurrency have it invested in Bitcoin. In fact, earlier I was talking about the backed exchange. Bak KT backed has only one cryptocurrency on it.
Now, there’s over 2000 crypto currencies out there, but if you were a institution because backed only serves institutions, and so you have to have a lot of money in order to just be a customer on the backed exchange, you know if you have $ 100 you’re, not Going to be a customer for the backed exchange and the only cryptocurrency that the backed exchange offers is Bitcoin, which is just to me almost mind-blowing.
Why would they only offer one cryptocurrency? You would think that they would have a dozen or so, but that’s the way. It is today, I imagine, that down the road, the backed exchange will actually offer more choices in crypto currencies, so bitcoins value proposition lying somewhere else entirely. Bitcoin is the scarcest most widely adopted and most secure cryptocurrency on the market. Having enjoyed first mover advantage, its network effects are now the strongest which gives it an almost insurmountable edge over the competition network effects is just a fancy term to say: hey lots of people use this sucker, alright, so users still want Bitcoin.
Bitcoin has many layers of redundancy and it’s resistance to many types of attack. It cannot be shut down, hacked regulated out of existence or compromised for Bitcoin to die. It would have to be more of natural causes. People would have to stop using it because there are better, more secure and more practical options for storing value on the market. As for now, with 64 percent market dominance, bitcoin is king, and so just like VHS and beta, you can’t go and find anywhere.
That sells those machines and the article stores that used to rent those tapes have long gone they’re out of existence. Today, you can’t find a article store to rent a VHS or rent a beta tape in order to read a particular movie. It’s going to take the same sort of thing with Bitcoin for it to really disappear. It’ll be the sort of thing where something comes out: people start using it and stop using Bitcoin and over time.
The dominance that we see here just disappears and becomes something else entirely, and that’s what’ll cause people to shut down all of their machines and for the hash rate to drop back down to nothing is it’ll it’ll, be more about people just stop using it, and so We’re at this particular time, based on things like the hash rate over the last. Even if we go back to the three-year hash rate, we can see how it’s been just grown and grown growing growing quite significantly.
Unless that stops, Bitcoin is here for a long time. You know the long term it’s here to stay unless people stop using it. So that’s the article today again, I’m not a financial advisor. This is not financial advice. This is my opinion. How can I be of service to you? Do you have any questions? Do you have any things that you said you just you you want to talk about? Do you have anything that you’re curious about, or do you disagree with what I’ve said? I would love to hear your polite disagreements because look hey you know things.
