We want to know what users are doing on our site, which pages are popular, whether users follow the paths we expect and if anything goes wrong. Analytics is all about collecting measurements of user activity on the site. Google Analytics is a service that collects processes and reports.
Data about an applications, use patterns and performance, adding Google Analytics to a web application enables the collection of data like visitor traffic, user agent, the user’s location, etc. This data is sent to Google Analytics servers where it is processed. The reports are available in the Google Analytics web interface and throw reporting API. Google Analytics is free and highly customizable.
Integrating Google Analytics is simple. First, you must create a Google Analytics account. Each account has properties, these aren’t JavaScript properties, but refer to individual applications or websites. Google Analytics then generates a tracking snippet for each property. This is a piece of JavaScript that you pasted into your page. It sends data to Google Analytics back-end. You can also use the analytics library to create custom analytics, such as tracking specific user actions or tracking push notifications.
I want to say a bit more about properties. An account has properties that represent individual collections of data. These properties have property, IDs, also called tracking IDs. That identify them to Google Analytics if an account represents a company. One property in that account might represent the company’s website, while another property might represent the company’s mobile app. If you only have one app, the simplest scenario is to create a single Google Analytics account and add a single property.
To that account. The analytics server will then generate a custom bit of JavaScript matching your account and property. This is the tracking snippets. This is the key part of the tracking snippet. The entire snippet needs to be pasted into every page. You want to track at a high level when this script runs. It creates an a syncs Tagg that downloads analytics is the analytics library defines the GA function called the command.
Q creates a tracker that gathers user data and sends this data as a pageview hit via HTTP request to Google Analytics. This data is analyzed and stored in your analytics account, in addition to the data gathered by tracker creation, the page view event allows Google Analytics to infer what pages the user is visiting, how long they are visiting them and in what order for simpler applications. This is the only coding required note that you can replace analytics j/s with analytics underscore debug KS for console debugging.
Using this version will log detailed messages to the console for each hit, sent it also logs warnings and errors for your tracking code. The data is sent to Google Analytics back-end where it is processed into reports. These reports are available through the Google Analytics dashboard. Here is the audience overview interface. Here you can see general information such as page view, records bounce rate, ratio of new and returning visitors and other statistics, it’s also possible to view analytics information in real time.
This interface allows you to see hits as they occur on your site. I encourage you to take some time and explore there’s an extensive set of features in the dashboard. You should explore the standard reports and look at creating your own. Knowing how to use analytics effectively is a skill in itself. Fortunately, the Google Analytics Academy offers a free set of online courses. I encourage you to install analytics on some of your sites.
If you haven’t already check out the free analytics Academy courses as well, then once you’re comfortable with analytics, come back and I’ll show you how to integrate analytics into a PWA. Thanks for reading and I’ll see you soon,
My own personal branding and I wan na incorporate that into my blog, but you know on a budget but by myself, Yeah,’cause, we’re ballin’ on a budget Of course. So I’m going to show You how to actually make different blog elements using Canva here on The Journey, So when building your brand and building, whether it’s for personal or for business and designing these elements, it’s important to be consistent with it.
Because if you start Throwing out one design and then in a week later, You have another design, People don’t know really who You are or what to follow, So it’s important keep that on track Yeah. So let me go ahead and Show you a quick demo of how to actually make Those blog elements using Canva, absolutely free, Sounds good Cool All right, so you told Me you wan na really like elevate your brand and start creating your Own branded content, So we’re going to use Canva for that.
I love Canva, just because Of its ease of use, Anyone can go in and edit it I mean. I know Photoshop and All these advanced things, but Canva just makes it That much easier and faster to actually create this content. So what we’re actually going to create today is basically your featured images, we’re going to make them A little bit more branded and a little bit more elevated make them stand out a little bit.
We might have a little Extra bonuses at the end too Perfect, But I see these burgers Like Whataburger review, the In-n-out review Hopdddy All these different things We wan na go ahead, get in Canva and check this out, You can get there by just By going to Canva.Com but right in the top there Where it says design anything we’re just going to type Blog and see what pops up, We have blog banner and blog graphic, So I’m probably going to Use just the blog banner, So it’s not as big or This image right here, they’re, not that big, we Want them kind of small and choose blog banner And what’s cool about this Especially, if you don’t have that design eye is, it gives you tons of templates to start from So earlier you were telling Me some of your colors are those green colors right, [ Alex ] Right, [ Nealey ], So you can see here.
There’s not a lot of green and that’s okay, You’re going to be able Edit all of this content, So I’m going to let you kind of go ahead and tell me which style you wan na use. Let’s choose The Art, Exhibit one [ Nealey ] All right, so you Chose the art exhibit template. I like it We’re going to go ahead and edit it and make it kind of your own. So we obviously don’t Want the art exhibit Let’s check out, let’s do one of your most recent reviews, which is WHATABURGER review and then “ All about Their burgers and fries.
” A little bit there [ Alex ] Yeah, [, Nealey ]. So what’s cool About this is this font might not be your font In the upper left. You can actually go ahead and change that and it’s linked up with Google fonts. So anything on google Fonts, which is usually what most websites use what your brand uses you can add here. So, let’s scroll through And find your brand, So I know you liked Poppins So we’re going to go ahead and use Poppins right here, So Poppins’ bold.
So we’ve got that Whataburger review and maybe we don’t want this Whatever this background is it’s kind of blurry, Let’s go ahead and add in a burger, So we’re just going to pick a burger’cause. I don’t want to go to your website, I’m a little lazy, I’m going to go ahead. And search photos and just type burgers, I wan na keep it free and then search. So all these burgers are absolutely free. I can go ahead.
Add it On here, just like that And wallah We’ve got a Whataburger review all about their burgers All right. So that’s Just the basics of Canva, using the templates adding The background image adding some text change the font. Were there any other elements. You really wan na add to this image. I’r not really sure What kind Of options am I looking at All right, so, let’s just check it out. So, on the left hand, side, we’ve got different options and we’re going to go to elements.
Elements are just different. Images ingredients and all these other things inside of Canva that you can use So I wan na talk about grids for a second Grids are basically –. Let me just throw that on there. They looks like a little cloud and some grass and stuff right, But this is really for, if You wan na add an image here without having to style it yourself, It’s really great for templates. So if I had that post there And then I wanted to add another picture of a burger right here.
It throws it in just like that. So then, if I have another image, I could just put it right on top and then the template Changes with that image Super helpful when you’re Making your blog post, you don’t have to always going to edit it and style it move it around. Those little things help out tremendously. So, let’s move on We’ve got different shapes could add different Shapes on your website style, however, you want move it around.
Just like ( beat box music ), But you go ahead and change the Colors right at the top left, You said your colors are Greens, so I make that green green again. Maybe we want this kind of. I don’t know just randomly up here. Why not we’re just going with it And then, if you don’t want It there like, I, don’t You can just hit, delete and it’s gone So there’s all sorts of different icons and different elements you can have.
If I search burger, for example, I can probably find a Lot of different burgers. Remember you wan na click on that free icon. We’re try to do this for free [, Alex ], Absolutely [, Nealey ]! I really like This little guy right here That is only works. You Can’t see the content Cool, maybe that works But yeah. There’s lots of Different things, you can do You just search in the Top left under elements, if you wan na, add your Text you can do so there You wan na, add a different background.
You can go through all your uploads, I’m not going to go through uploads and you’ll, see all my randomness And then you can categorize your stuff by folders and things like that. So then, when you’re done, you would just choose download. So let’s download this bad guy and then go over to your website. Go to your Whataburger review, Let’s edit, that post! Let’s change this image upload ours! So once it’s uploaded, remember that all text Is super important WHATABURGER REVIEW Juicy burger posts for the caption and then select and update.
So now we can go back to our website. [ Alex ] Looks so much better. [ Nealey ] We have that Whataburger review is they can see that super quick and easy? Not everyone likes to read these. They, like flip through the images they’ll see that image and they’ll also see The Whataburger review So now, what’s super cool When it comes to Canva, if you end up upgrading To their premium license is the ability to resize your content, you’ve already created.
So if you say you wanted The same type of template on social media’cause Branding is super important. It’s super important to be consistent. You can easily resize this To say an Instagram post Click resize at the top search Instagram Instagram post copy & resize, and then it threw it together. And an Instagram post, You might need to update some of the different elements if needed, but it makes it super simple to really have your brand everywhere.
[ Alex ] Right. So that was awesome. What else can I do in Canva for my blog [ Nealey ]? Yes, so what a lot Of people will do in Canva, especially on a blog, is Create their own custom ads So those little things that will end up on the widget sidebar. So let’s go back to canva’s home and then we’re just going to Search Ads see what pops up, So we have a Facebook Ad That’s a little too wide a leaderboard Ad large Rectangle and a medium rectangle, You should probably just Do a medium rectangle, keep it simple, And then we have all of This different content, We kind of wan na, keep it consistent to the look and feel That we had with this So let’s actually just Do this from scratch? So when you go to elements I’m going to throw in this grid, keep it easy on us right.
[ Alex ] Yeah [ Nealey ], And then you had Your recipe book right, What was the recipe book about? [ Alex ] Taco, Tuesday recipes [, Nealey ], All right. So this whole Ad is going to be about your Taco Tuesday recipe book. So I wan na search for a taco image, Which one looks good to you: [ Alex ], All of them, (, laughs, ), [, Nealey, ] You’re, not wrong; [ Alex ]. Let’s do the One with the limes yeah [ Nealey, ], Perfect All right now I want to Make this a little darker just so that the white Will contrast on it, You do so with the adjust at the top.
Now I wan na add some text in Taco, Tuesday Recipes and that’s obviously way too big, not the font. We want And not in the colors, So we wanted Poppins’cause, it’s poppin’, (, laughs, ), I’m real corny, guys All right. We also wan na change the color. I didn’t change. All of it All right go back to Poppins Poppins Poppins Poppins. There we go All right and then we Wan na change the color make that white we wan na change the size.
That’s way too big That looks good, And now with this I don’t really want That extra space there, it’s kind of too much You can go over to spacing And then go to line height and then shrink or expand this as needed All right, so we got Taco Tuesday recipes, Let’s check on the other posts, so we make this consistent. All right! We’ve got these Little white lines here so, let’s make sure we have that It’s going to be over in elements and then shapes, I hope, Nope, I hope nope.
Oh, then, you go over two elements go down to lines That makes more sense And then also that white turn it around Got to shrink a little bit And then the regular Commands like CTRL, +, C CTRL, + V, things like that work here You hit CTRL + D. If you’re on a windows, computer or Command + D, it’ll duplicate it nice and easy for you And what’s cool about Canva is it kind of will make A little bit of a grid, so you can see it, it shows that it’s even With the other one, So you can throw that in there And now we have our Taco Tuesday Recipes.
Now, if there’s anything else, you wan na add you can always just kind of search, see what other things pop up. Maybe you wan na add Some random little tacos in the top left or on top Cool, and now once we have this we’re going to want to download that then go over to your website. Now we’re going to throw it Under the widget area, So we wan na go over to Your WordPress dashboard appearance and then widgets and then we wan na actually Add an image here So there’s an image on The left hand column just drag that right over I’m, going to put that above –.
Actually, let’s put it Below the recent posts, We don’t really wan na title and we just wan na upload that Taco Tuesday Recipe image Now what’s important, With some of these images that you throw on your Website in the bottom right, it’ll usually try to make It just the medium size Now our medium size is the full size, but for those you’re reading, if you have an image, you’re uploading make sure you put it on full size.
Otherwise, it’s going to Make it a lot smaller than it actually is, Let’s go add to widget save. If you wanted to link to your landing page that we created earlier, you can go ahead, do so there And then let’s check it out, It’s going to go to your website and then let’s check Your WHATABURGER REVIEW and then bam. We got your Taco Tuesday Recipes [ Alex ]. It looks good [ Nealey ]. So if someone click that it’ll go to your landing page, see all about your recipe book and then you’ve got it So Canva will let you really create almost anything you’re wanting to What I would recommend.
Is just going through all of the designs They have it right here. It’s like Canva print posters, logos, desktop Wallpaper blog banners Instagram Stories literally everything, But what I would highly Highly highly recommend is always keep your brand consistent. Now, there’s lots of templates to use and it sounds really cool. Don’t just go and start making all sorts of different stuff. It’s going to confuse your audience.
If you start doing that Perfect, do I think I’ve got it all I’m going to go home play with Canva, see what I can create. Let us know in the comments below if you’ve ever used, Canva before Yeah, and I really Hope this inspired you to really elevate your brand using Canva or whatever else you wan na, create it with You got some value out of this article. Make sure you smash that Like button, let us know, While you’re there Subscribe to our blogs, so you get this content first.
My name is Jude and welcome back to my blog, we’re about to dive right in I’m, actually not going to do a long intro. You guys, probably sick of this. Every other marketer on YouTube is probably going to go like yeah yeah by my course. No, it’s not that article. I want to give you guys the absolute truth. If you’re nudists blog, I basically consult lots of companies on how to grow their social media, to increase their sales and throughout that process I learned and saw so many things wrong.
That could actually just be smaller things you haven’t thought of that could just change your trajectory of your brand and I made a list we’re going to dive right into the first one, no bullshit. I don’t think I’d like this article. The way this articles going to work is, I have a checklist of 10 things. I know you guys are very busy people, but I recommend, saying to the very end of this article he’s actually giving away new template checklist to optimize your content.
You don’t want to miss anything so we’re about to dive right in okay, guys we’re going to do this together, so open up your phone go on your social media, Instagram you to Twitter or Facebook, and let’s do this so first thing you might be doing wrong – Is if you don’t have social proof, but here’s the thing when you hear me talking about social proof, the media thought is oh, do I have enough followers for people to care just follow.
That’s not what I’m saying I’m not saying social proof. It needs to be a number on a screen, however. Yes, it does help, but a lot of you guys are missing a bigger thing, which is the whole idea of social proof. Right is to build trust with your customer to build trust with you guys, but the thing is, you can also do it in other ways like, for example, hosting reviews hosting testimonials screenshots.
I’r just happy people loving your content. Those are way great ways. You can use a social proof, even if you don’t have a large following for longest time. On my account, I didn’t have tens of thousands of followers yet actually, a year ago before I did all this marketing consulting companies, I only had a thousand followers. I did experience like a seven hundred percent increase in my brand over the past year, but that was because I was screenshotting your guys’s testimonials.
I like to share what you guys think about my content. Feedback is important because other people can see it it’ll be like. Oh shit, I really trust this person because Sally thinks so too, as humans were honestly, such big fan Wagoner’s, like whatever’s cool, we just kind of pivot. So if you can do that with your brand in a way, that’s subtle, not just showing your followers, but maybe just showing hey.
These are 20 people that love my content. These are a screenshot of happy comments or my last post. That is a huge indication that you’re using social proof to build trust, okay, cool. So the second problem is, if you don’t bring value to the table first, this is all about reciprocity actually back in the way I was on at Europe tour meeting you guys salting and doing a little business trip, so it’s kind of nice to be back.
I’r on this like rooftop thing but like I don’t think I’m supposed to be here. So if there’s any time throw this article that I get kicked out will happen anyways step two. If you don’t bring value to the table first, I think a lot of times as brands. We always always always want our followers. Just like this thing for us right, like hey straighten this pose. Hey comment: go buy this product swipe up, but we forget.
We have to do the first initiation of the relationship you guys love my analogy of dating and, like literally social media is just dating online. I’r not joking like if you’re going to tinder you’re good at Instagram. Actually don’t put me on that, I might be. I might not be a good analogy. What I’m trying to say is in like a relationship when you want it so interest to someone you don’t just wait for them to come to you right.
Maybe you show a little flirting right. You should text them, something you send them by DM same with here. You want to flirt with your audience. So if you’re not flirting with your audience, if you’re not deeming them, if you’re not saying hey thanks so much for reading, if you’re, not literally going one-on-one and telling your customers or followers, I know on this page, we might be on different points of our career.
Maybe you’re an influencer, maybe you own a company, but the idea. It’s the same, like whatever you do on social media. You need a build that hey. I scratch your back. You scratch mine. The best example of this is when you do a free gift, if you can give your followers something like hey. Thank you so much for being here. Here’s a contest, that’s the best way for me to show thankfulness and gratefulness very down third thing: you’re, probably messing up on is not being a likeable brand.
I know that sounds really weird you’re, like hey Jade. What does that mean? I like my brand. Why can’t people like mine, I’m not saying likeability, is like you love the product? The product, I’m sure you guys are extremely proud of, is solid, and what I’m talking about is if your brand presence online isn’t likable. The way it can be. Likable is actually showed that hey there’s bigger purpose to it as humans psychologically.
We just like doing something that benefits others. I got deep down court. My like really tense stressed heart. I just I just want to help everyone right. Like I love business, I love sales and marketing, but other than a like. I just want to give if it can give people the idea that your account is there’s bigger, meaning, for example, if you have charity, work right, a lot of brands. These days donate half the proceeds to a good charity.
They believe in the is believe in what I’ve seen done wrong a lot. A lot of you guys are doing wrong. It’s just thinking that it’s enough to have good content, marketing and a beautiful layout right. There needs to be bigger why you need to have an ethos to your brand? Why is the purpose? You know why you’re creating a product and that’s the biggest thing so make sure you? I spent time on your about me page.
If you have a website just make sure you spend a lot of time of your brand story, neither have a bigger picture. Fourth thing is: if you don’t have a squad name now, I’m not saying you have to call everyone. The domination you guys know on this blog, you guys are my loves and I call you the domination because my last name is Dharma wanza and it seems to work that way. But a lot of you guys are messing up because there’s huge opportunity, when you call your followers a name because it gets community, it gets you both like I would have become part of the squad.
The best example is wood brands or accountant, ambassador programs, or when youtubers call their YouTube squad a family name right. It’s important to build a tribe because that’s keep the loyalty. This thing, you’re, probably messing up on, is way too many offers. What I’m saying, and on every single entry of post or youtube article or just everything you know that youtuber that always says hey guys, make sure you like subscribe comment like notification box before the article even started, make sure you have a single call to action.
I’r not joking make it simple make it straight to the point. If you have an Instagram post, make sure you say hey swipe up, that’s it keep it simple. People are confused as fuck, I’m not joking. One of the brand’s I was working with. I know it’s under disclosure, I can say the name, but they had like the sales page, and there was a 40 million call to action. It was like PI this product, oh by the way, sign up for email by the way.
Do this do that and when it’s a cold lead when it’s someone who doesn’t know you again back to dating analogy you’re not going to marry someone on the first date, I don’t know, does any anyone, I’m still learning. I don’t know about you, but you probably want to go on multiple dates before you say hey. I love you. Let’s do this forever right. So actually, why am I doing dating Louise, I’m literally sick? It’s important to be simple.
Okay, think about the most important offer. A big question I like to ask myself is: what is the one goal I want to achieve? Oh you guys. We are halfway through this article. I hope you guys are enjoying it. I really love making these articles because I feel like a lot of us on this journey, the same. Thank you for reading so far. Actually, I was just kind of editing some of the content with my Europe meetups and it might both of mine that I have this community online.
I actually have like a lot of the Sun, I’m saying. Is it stuff I use for my own account, and I do want to share everything I know and everything learned so, if you’re so far enjoying it, and you want to follow my journey, make sure you, like this article and eat the subscribe button? We do a lot of content about social media growth, personal branding, all that jazz I’d love to have you here for forever.
Maybe we could get married like in a social media way like not not actually but anyways. That’s the article! Ok! 6! You try to solve too many problems at once. What I’m trying to say is if you’re, making content, that’s valuable right, maybe you’re making an Instagram post with a selfie and a long caption, but it’s too long. Okay. I know you tell you guys to write your hearts out, write paragraphs, that’s great, but there’s a certain stage where you want to make it simple, because when you trying to solve too many poems at once, you can diffuse your audience.
You could use the people. What’s the ideal goal you just want to solve one problem and offer one product that is, for example, if maybe you’re a fitness influencer and the problem is losing weight. You have one solution to it and you have hey. This is the one offer which is subscribe to my you 7th mistake: is you don’t format your content, so super simple all should link below a article on how to format your captions right.
I’r telling you going back to kind of these past three steps, which is kind of the main theme is: keep it simple. Keep it easy to read I’ve seen so many instagramers literally have like this block of text. That is okay, I’m not saying don’t write a lot. What I’m saying is chunk it down check out my Instagram guys, like I make sure I put value out there, that’s long and thorough, but I really break it down with these bullets.
Eighth mistake is being too similar to your competitors, your explore page and there’s only 40 comedians answer your convenience, then just save skin. I know pasty Lele pons, actually, genetic loci lives in this complex, but I’ve just seen so many Instagram comedians do the same skit over and over again, and it’s just getting old similar to your cat summer to any other people in your industry. Do some research on supply and demand see what’s out there? I think a lot of times.
Yes, you can coffee and get inspired, but it’s important to add your own voice. So I think the best thing you can do is just ask yourself: what’s the difference between me and competitor, a remember that repeated yourself every day it will help you create more innovative ideas and creative content it for curious. Another example of this situation actually on my blog, is if you’re reading this maybe you’ve seen so many people like this face, teach Instagram or teach YouTube, and it’s it’s you’re, not getting the results.
You’re wanting see the difference on my blog and that I try to separate myself. Is I don’t want? I don’t want bullshit, you know like. I just want to give you guys a truth. I don’t really believe in showing a lot of fake influence or lifestyle. All I do, for you guys, is show you the tools and process that I have learned and succeed it from on YouTube. So you know, like think about ways you can actually maybe change your product and maybe just the way you mess yourself.
So that’s a little secret that I use with my blog all right guys. We have two more if you’re sober right here reading this yo. Congratulations, you you’re, probably about to making looky this check. I’r not joking, but this checklist took a long time to just figure out and I’ve seen it’s helped a lot of people so we’re going to dive to the ninth thing. These last two are the ones I wanted to save actually towards the end of this article.
A lot of you guys over staff or have a mistake which is not having urgency in your content. Okay, it’s the thing! Yes, you should be consistent, but it’s okay to not be consistent. There’s something mysterious and sexy when you don’t post or when you kind of have a pattern, that’s unpredictable when you’re unpredictable the audience is curious and want to know what’s next right, for example, if you’re someone who posts on schedule every day perfect.
But there comes the time where maybe you need to stop posting for a week or maybe a couple of time where you did pivot and do something a little different. I mean let’s take Jake Paul, for example, he has so many countless scandals. Everyone has a different opinion on him, but that’s what makes him interesting there’s something polarizing about being urged at being weird being inconsistent. People can’t predict you, people can’t say what he’s going to do next, which is why people follow him so similar to your brand’s.
Maybe maybe, if you feel like it, you don’t have to post every single day. I kid you not guys number nine is probably I think, one of the most important ones. It’s a little tricky, but I’m here with you. Let me know if you have a question and I’ll get back to you. Okay, the ten thing is, if you don’t have a clear voice, so here’s the thing, what I mean by clear voice is one thing which is don’t pivot away from your ethos.
Your Y, your purpose, a lot of brands and personalities really just mess up because I start losing their identity. I’ve seen many scales when you start losing, who you are what your purpose is what you will bring to this planet. It gets really easy to start saying things I might offend people. Audiences might say. Who is this there’s a thing you guys reputation? Is everything pay, so what I’m trying to tell you guys? Maybe all of these points are confusing.
It’s a lot to focus on one thing, which is don’t ever feather away from your purpose. If you start losing, who you are as a brand, your audience also will be confused right. So an example of this is, if we start chasing numbers and bullshit KPIs. I KPI by the way, is a key performance index. It’s over a lot of brands use to measure success anyways, so you chase a number like a million followers in Instagram and that’s all you want and you’ll do anything to get there, but maybe it the cost of it is you have to do some really whack Things like really bullshit things in the community really horrible things that say on the internet and at the end of the day it will ruin your reputation.
So what you get a million followers by you yourself, don’t accomplish your purpose, so my biggest thing is half with single voice, a voice of hey. This is my mission. You know, I think you guys should spend more time on your account saying what do I really want to achieve out of my account and I feel like once you focus on that all these other ten checklists will come together. What I want you guys do is check the link below.
What’s going to happen, is there’s actually a check, this I’m made of for y’all to kind of run through every single posts. So before you do something for our you reach a campaign, you kind of go through this checklist and say: hey, am I moving forward and my reputation do it? Am I fucking up call it’s free. A lot of these other marketers are in charge. You probably a grand for a shout out to the common winner too.
We comment on the supposed to be true the next step, so I’ve been doing a thing where I’ve been shining on you guys. Whoever comments on my past article today, if you want to be the next comment winner on my next article, just comment below actually a question. You have what your thoughts are and I’ll feature you next time, but the key. Is you guys if you’re someone who maybe is like hey J? This is super cool? I won a pie brand, but I don’t have enough time.
I actually do a lot of marketing strategy and I’m opening a few more clients for the month of September. In October. I’r an influencer who helps brands generate millions and millions of impressions if you’re out there and you would like or how I actually I’m an email below. You can contact me for more. But if that’s not you and you’re just here for a good time, that’s totally cool. I love you so much.
I literally don’t want anything from you guys, but to give you value and help you out as much as possible. So leave me a question and I’ll get back to you soon. I hope you guys, like this article and make sure you got post notifications. Welcome to the we are slam show where we share marketing agency, insights, best practices and ideas to help your business grow. My name is tyler kelly, i’m the co-founder and chief strategist right here at slam agency we’re a small but mighty full-service marketing agency that helps marketing directors, like you execute on your vision, execute on your strategy, just think of us, as the outsourced marketing department, with a Specialty really in digital marketing, and today I want to talk to you about social media now a lot of times when we think about social media.
We just think about the Big Five Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn, but here’s the thing social media is so much bigger than that and as a marketing director, you really have to understand how big it is so that you can take full advantage of every aspect Of social media, okay, so social media is composed of four equally important parts. These are social, listening, social influencing social networking and social selling, and in this article I’m going to go through each one.
Social media allows us to social, listen, ok, social listening is tuning in to the needs and to the wants of our customers and social media gives us the platforms, the tools that we need in order to do this more effectively in the olden days we used to Do focus groups we used to do polling and all these types of things, but, as we know, these things aren’t really as effective as they used to be polls used to be the gold standard for determining elections.
Well, now polls aren’t written worth their paper that they’re written on right and focus groups used to be. You know the thing it used to be like: let’s go in, let’s talk with some people, that’s asking questions, but the dirty little secret. Is this people? Don’t tell you what is truly on their mind in a focus group situation. They tell you what they think you want to hear. We’ve known this as marketers for many years, there’s been a lot of studies, a lot of research that say for focus groups, just don’t give you the real information.
So how can you get the wrong information? Well, social listening is the way to do that. So how do you do it? Well, you figure out where your customers were your prospects, where your potential customers are okay online, whether it be Facebook groups, LinkedIn figure out where these conversations are happening, whether it be a forum or you know, on a blog comments. These types of things, wherever it is figure it out and then begin to listen, hashtag following on Instagram on Twitter.
This might give you some insight into what types of things your customers are talking about, and this is where, if you’re doing you’re listening right, you can really begin to tap into what their pain points are. What they’re psyched, what the psychographics are like, what their attitudes interests and opinions are, and this will give you insight as a marketing director into how to approach them through advertising and marketing real quick, a few of my favorite tools for listening in social media, an oldie But goodie HootSuite really great way to set up what you want to pay attention to and then go back to that daily and kind of see.
What’s new, what’s happening, HootSuite is an oldie but goodie a few others that I, like I like mention. I, like Agora, pulse and I like brand, read now the second part of social media that you need to be aware of and know how to tap into is social influencing. Now, when you think of social influencing, I want you to think really about influencer marketing. Okay, influencer marketing is something that has come on the scene.
You know in a big way the last couple years and there’s some really good uses of influencer marketing. There’s some really horrible examples of influencer marketing as well. Now, here’s the thing: if you go: google, influencer marketing or social influencing what you’re going to find is you’re, going to find lots of blogs lots of lots of articles that are all about how wonderful influencer marketing is, but for the majority of people reading this article, It’s probably not going to work for you.
Here’s the thing there’s been a lot of research recently that has that has shown that influencer marketing does not provide the ROI that it has promised that it would provide there’s a really great episode on Noah Kagan presents, which, by the way, is one of my favorite Podcast, if I tuned in to a podcast, I’m tuning into Noah, Kagan’s podcast, and this podcast was all about influencer marketing, the ins, the outs, what works, what doesn’t it was with a guy named Josh snow, who has really approached influencer marketing in some unique ways, and He shares his experiences and his data in influencer marketing to tell you what works and what doesn’t and for the majority of you reading right now, I guarantee that it’s probably not going to give you the results that you expect that it should all right.
The number three part of social media – it’s the big one, social networking now, when you think about social networking, there’s there’s some really big ideas, and I want you to. I want you to grasp the first is this likes? Don’t matter likes, do not matter. Okay, there’s an article, it’s called a thousand true fans, and it’s just it’s all about how just in life in business in the creative world that you can accomplish so much more with a small group of devoted followers raving fans, then you can, with a large group, Perfect example: Priceline, if you go to their Facebook page you’ll, see that they have millions of followers and their interaction rate.
Their engagement rate is so low, less than 1 %, and it just blows my mind that they can invest so much in this likes game. In this likes number and so little in engaging content, the secret here is social media. Networking is all about that devoted group of fans of followers who will buy everything that you put out that will engage with every post that you put out. This is what social networking is truly about, and if you lose sight of that objective, then you’re going to just be in this rat race that continues and continues and there’s no winning the better way is to mobilize the audience that you do have and not to Focus on all the numbers not to focus on all those people that aren’t going to become customer now, there’s a couple other things I want you to be aware of when it comes to social networking and the first is seeker versus engagement.
Remember this seeker versus engagement when it comes to social networking. There are two types of social networks. The first is seeker networks. Okay, a seeker network is it’s it’s kind of based on this idea of search; okay, it’s where you as a user, will go to that network and you will type in a search and you’re looking for something you’re seeking out information. Okay, a perfect example of this is YouTube.
People go there to seek out the majority of people, go there to seek out information. It’s the second largest search engine in the world, just behind Google, and so, if your goal with YouTube is to build like this massive network with these fans that are engaging, then there’s a super high bar to make that happen and more than likely you’re going to Have to invest a lot of money into making that happen, and the reason why is because you’re going against the flow you’re going against the current the current when it comes to YouTube, is as a seeker Network.
So what you should do on a secret network? Is you should build content optimize it for search optimize it for SEO so that when people go and they type in the search, your content is going to pop up on that first page of results? Okay, so on a seeker network, it’s all about! How can I optimize SEO optimize my content to be found to be discovered later on down the line? It’s not about building this massive blog, where you have a ton of followers and there’s just massive amount of engagement.
That does happen on YouTube, but that is those are the outliers. Those are the success stories. Those are the unicorns okay, the majority of YouTube and the majority of the people using YouTube, use it as a search engine. Now the flipside is engagement. Engagement is where you do have networks where people are engaging where there’s conversations where there is community being built. Perfect example: Facebook Instagram.
These are perfect examples of engagement networks. Now, what I want you to realize with an engagement network like Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin Instagram, is that these are the networks where you can do social listening, because these are the network. We’re conversations are actually happening where there’s groups where people are, you know breaking off into groups of similar interest. Okay, this is engagement networks, and this is where social listening happens.
This is also where you can social influence behavior by way of becoming part of the conversation by becoming a thought leader on the network and by generating and creating content, that’s captivating motivating inspiring that that drives action. Now. The second big idea that I want you to get today is this idea of opened versus closed networks. Okay, YouTube is a perfect example of an open network.
What does YouTube do when you search it, takes you to other people’s content and that most likely links out to the web very similar to Google right, Google, which is not necessarily a social network? Although many SEO s would argue that it is when you type a search into Google, what happens? Is you get a list of results on your search engine results page and when you click the link, it takes you to another site off of Google right same way with YouTube.
It takes you off of YouTube and then there’s no penalty there. Okay, this is actually encouraged. It’s the way that the open network is built. It’s built to lead you to content that doesn’t exist on their site. However, when it comes to closed networks, this is not always the case. A closed Network really penalizes you when you post content, that is not part of its network that is not hosted on its network.
Okay, Facebook is a great example. It’s a closed network. How can you identify a closed Network? Well, the first thing is in order to access most of the content. You need to be logged in okay. It’s a closed network YouTube. You don’t need to be logged in access to content, Facebook LinkedIn! You need to be logged in to access the content, so these are closed networks anytime. You have to log in to access to content.
Then what I want you to think of as a marketing director is, I don’t want to post third party links now. The first question I always get when talking with a marketing director is well Mike, my site’s, not really a third party link, because it’s my site, it’s my page and it’s my site, but you guys think about like this. It’s your brand on Facebook’s, page! Okay! It’s it’s on facebook.Com and because it’s on facebook.
Com, if you put a link to your site in the post to your site, that’s a third-party site, meaning Facebook doesn’t own your site and because of that, and because Facebook is a closed Network, then what’s going to happen. Is Facebook is going to penalize you? I know they say that they don’t, but they do. Experience shows that they, just they don’t show content when it’s when it’s a youtube link, they’re not going to show it to very many people.
You can test this on your own pages when you post a link to your website, they’re, not going to show it to very many people and because Facebook is really built on this snowball algorithm, which is like the more people that like and engage with your content. The more they’re going to see your content and the more they’re going to introduce your content to new people and then on the flip side, if you post a link, no one sees it.
No one engages with it, then what you’re doing is you’re digging a ditch for yourself anytime, you post a third-party link on your site, so be very wary of any time. That might be the case when you want to do that when your boss is like. I want to post a link to you, know our products page here on the site. The reason why Facebook introduced shops is because they don’t want you to go to your website to shop.
They don’t want your customers to go to your website to shop. They want them to shop on Facebook, because Facebook is a closed network and they want everything that happens with their traffic to happen on facebook.Com. If it’s not happening on facebook.Com, then guess what very few people are going to see it they’re going to push it to the side and they’re not going to show it to anyone. So as a marketing director anytime, you have a third-party link on a closed network.
Realize that it’s not going to get very far, the fourth part of social media is social selling and I’ll. Let you in on a little secret. It’s not selling at all, rather social selling is all about building a brand. It’s all about becoming a thought leader. Building familiarity, we’ve talked several times over many episodes that people buy from those that they know like and trust, and the quickest way to drive an increase.
Likeability is by building familiarity it’s by being present by being out there. By having your face out there, the more people see you the more they like and the more that they trust you. I know this is crazy, but it’s it’s a fact. The more they see you the more they like and trust you. As a matter of fact, it’s called the familiarity bias so build it. Put your face out. There put your brand out there be out there be out there as often as you possibly can, and do so.
The step up here. The level up here is, if you’re out there with valuable content. If you’re out there as a thought leader, then people will begin to see you that way. Why do we do that? We are slam shell, so that we can share our experience. We can share our insights, our knowledge with marketing directors like you, so that when the time comes for you to hire an agency, if, when the time comes to, when you just can’t execute – and you just don’t – have the bandwidth to do everything that you need to Do you know in-house, then it’s like okay, we’re going to think about slam to be that that digital partner to be that outsourced marketing department that we can hire that that I can use as a marketing director to do everything that I need to do in terms Of like graphic design, article copywriting social media, digital advertising, I need a team like that, and rather than hiring that team one by one and figuring out, you know who’s who’s good in this position in this position and managing all those people.
Rather than doing all of that, I’m going to hire slam because by hiring slam, I get all those specialties. I get all those people, but I get a team that works well together and that I can provide vision to and strategy for and that they’ll execute on that and it’ll be amazing for my bottom line. Okay, that that’s the value there and that’s why we share content like this, to make you aware of our abilities to make you aware of our knowledge and our capabilities so that when the time comes, you already know who to call that’s what social selling is social Selling is not me hitting you up on LinkedIn and being a nuisance.
Okay, that is social spam. It’s not social selling, so you know why do i? Why am I never on LinkedIn? Why do I just despise LinkedIn? Why do I think that, like everyone in the business world, putting their time into LinkedIn is a waste of time, because it’s a spam network? You can quote me on that. It’s a spam Network and everyone, that’s on LinkedIn for the most part, is usually LinkedIn in the wrong way and just you know, rabbit trail.
If I want to engage and connect with the rail people, then I’m not going to do it on a network like LinkedIn. I’r going to do it on a network like Facebook or Instagram, and the reason why I do that is because that’s when people put their barriers down and that they’re there there they are their real selves at that point on LinkedIn, everyone just has like a mask On it’s the business, you know it’s business, business, business and everyone’s in that business mindset and it’s hard to break through that and really like what most people do to break through that.
It’s just spam, the heck out of you – and I don’t like that. I don’t like LinkedIn, you can quote me on that. Social selling is not social spam, so, rather than hitting somebody’s email, inbox or you’re, deeming them and like just bugging the heck out of them. How do you prospect well inbound prospecting is the key, and that is by putting out articles, putting out post that that provide information and value to the reader and putting that out there, knowing that when the right person comes along and sees that content that they’re going To reach out the final thing that I want you to think about, when you think about social selling is what I call trigger events this could be on.
You know one of the ways that you could use LinkedIn, it’s like okay, I just got a new job. It’s posted, like so-and-so, just got hired here. That is a trigger event. That’s an event that you should be aware of, because it marks a change in that person’s status in that person’s career, and so you know rather than you just saying, hey Congrats, take a note. Knowing that you know if your marketing director you just got hired on as a marking director, your onboarding you’re learning about your new company, there’s a lot of stuff going on, and if I were going to contact you, it’s not going to be on day one right.
If I were going to reach out to you, if my goal was to do an outbound prospecting, then I would I would look at that trigger event, and I would know that within a month and a half two months, that’s probably the time when you’ve got your Bearings and your ready to begin seeking out help, and at that point I want to make sure that you know about who we are and what we do. And so, if I paid attention, if you’re you know one of my targets, if you will, if you’re somebody that I want to work with, and I’ve paid attention to the fact that that you know you started about a month and a half ago, then now I Know that it’s probably a good time to get on your radar.
Okay, this is trigger event awareness. The other thing is just buying cycle awareness, and this is where social listening comes in in regards to social selling. You have to be in tune with those accounts that you want to work with, so be aware of that buying cycle be aware of where they are in that consumer journey, and you can do this with social selling, okay, so the four parts of social media, social Listening social influencing social networking and social selling be sure to listen to this a couple times because there’s a lot of good info in this podcast next week, we’re going to talk specifically about social media networking and how you can get the best bang for your buck.

We are here to talk to you about Linux, for Chrome box, also known as crostini. We will start by introducing ourselves. My name is Sudan. I am a designer on crostini for Chromebooks hi, I’m Dylan, I’m the Chrome, OS virtualization lead and I’m Tom product manager for Linux on Chromebooks. Now it’s the end of day two at i/o and you’ve probably already been to a bunch of different sessions that have talked about all the new frameworks that you need to be using or the platforms that you need to be building for and everyone’s right.
You absolutely should be, but we’re not really here to talk about that. Instead, what we want to talk about is you as developers and how you can get more peace of mind by using Linux on Chromebooks, we give you that peace of mind by balancing simplicity and security. On that note, let’s do a quick user study. How many of you are developers in the audience? Wow, that’s full room as expected. Keep your hands raised, how many of you use your computers for anything else, other than development like doing your taxes, checking email, again, 100 % of you, okay, one last question: how many of you are worried about security? Good, that’s pretty! I mean you all should be so I’m glad to see many hands up anyway, so I don’t know about you, but when I start a new project I I get stuck a lot right.
I hit a lot of walls and I hit a lot of barriers and go to look for a problem, go to look for a solution and I turn to Google. Luckily, Google’s almost always got a great answer for me. Unluckily. Sometimes the answer looks like this, and I know I shouldn’t run this script from evil site, comm and pipe it to soo do. But you know that deadlines coming up. This may be, the site, looks kind of legit, so in this case I’ll make an exception and I’ll do this and then it happens again and again and eventually I end up with a system that I don’t trust as much as I should, because I don’t really Know what code I’ve run on it anymore? I don’t have time to read all these scripts.
My solution to this has been to carry two laptops, one for my developer world and one for my everything else world that I want to be secure in, but recently I switched to using one laptop and Tom’s going to talk about how I do that. So our goal with Chrome OS has been to give you a simple and secure experience from the start, but if you tried it previously, you might have seen that it wasn’t quite ready for developers in order to be simple and secure.
We couldn’t run all of the tools that developers need to get their job done, but that all changed at i/o. Last year, when we announced that we were going to start supporting Linux on Chromebooks Linux on Chromebooks lets, you run all of your favorite editors, IDs and tools, and it’s now supported on over 50 % of Chromebooks, including great devices with eighth generation. Intel CPUs like the Lenovo yoga book C 630 and the Acer Chromebook spin 13.
If you haven’t seen it we’re going to run through a few examples. First off, how do you get it? It’s really easy! It’s just a couple clicks now. In the background, this is downloading a virtual machine setting up containers configuring, it all Dylan’s, going to go more into that in a few minutes. But for you as a developer, it’s just a couple clicks to get started and this adds a terminal to your launcher.
Now, if you open that terminal, you’ll see that you have a pretty standard, debian environment and we’ve already loaded in a bunch of the tools that developers expect like git and vim. And if you need anything else, you have the apt package manager and you can install whatever packages you need and if you want to, instead install files or install programs via dev files, you can do that too. This gives you access to thousands of world-class developer tools.
Now, once you’ve installed, any graphical you’ll find that they all show up in your launcher, just like the rest of your Chrome, OS apps, and if you open them, they show up in your window manager again just like the rest of your Chrome, OS apps. This is the simple experience that people have come to expect from Chrome OS and we didn’t want to change that with Linux. But importantly, this is also secure.
You don’t have to worry about malware, accessing your files, snooping on your traffic or infecting your peripherals. I’d ask you to trust us on that, but this is way too important for you to take on Trust alone. So over the course of this talk, Dylan and Sudha are going to walk you through the principles behind the architecture and design of crostini. We’re then, going to dissect some common developer flows to show you how these principles apply and, finally, we’re going to share some tips and tricks for advanced usage for the power users out there.
So now I’m going to hand it over to Dylan to talk about the architecture. Okay, so Chrome OS has always had a layered approach to security, and our big layer has always been the browser and the renderer and running all untrusted code in a nice, isolated renderer, and that keeps the attack surface of your core system to an absolute minimum. They’re not allowed to make a lot of system calls, they can’t poke at random bits of your kernel and that worked really well for webpages web apps.
However, for developer tools, I need to install a lot of different programs. They need a lot of different privileges. They can do anything any app on Linux can do and that wasn’t acceptable for us on the core of Chrome OS. So we need that a layer, so we added a virtualization layer and that lives in the main, Chrome OS layer and that spins up a VM. And now this VM has a much more limited interface, while still exposing a full Linux kernel to the programs that run inside the VM.
The only way the VM can talk to Chrome OS proper is through a small API that that cross VM program on the left up there exposes to the guest. This was pretty good. Now we’ve got a lot greatly reduced attack surface. We were pretty happy with this. We wanted to go a little further, so we made sure that the guest VM was also signed by Google and somewhat trusted. This lets us trust some of the actions the guest VM takes, and it’s also read-only.
So users can only break things so much and that no matter what you do, you’re going to be able to boot a VM. However, with all that security solved, we’re back in a situation where you don’t have enough flexibility, your apps can’t do anything. It’s a read-only thing: you can’t install anything in it, so we had another layer and for this we stole used lxd from canonical. That teams been very helpful in getting this spun up with us.
It’s a pretty standard container run time. It’s built for running system containers and in our case we started a system container of Debian and exposed to that to the user so that cross VM layer. I was talking about that’s kind of the most important part of the security story. Here it’s the last line of defense before something gets into Chrome OS. So we went. We focused on this for a long time and made sure we got that as secure as possible.
We wrote it in a memory safe programming language. We chose rust. This eliminates buffer overflows and integer overflows a lot of common bugs related to memory safety that are exploited by attackers. We were pretty happy with that, but we again added another layer of security here in that we broke up the virtualization program into pillars and made sure that each pillar that interfaces with the guest only has access to small parts of your hosts Chrome OS system.
So your host Chrome, OS system, you’ve got your bank’s web page open. You’ve got your online tax filing thing. Open you’ve got all kinds of personal identifiable information everywhere. We really wanted to protect that, but we needed to give the guest access to things like a random number, a display, a USB device, so each of those got their own jail and they can only see the thing they need, so our random number generator can generate Random numbers: it can’t access any files, it’s in an empty file system.
From its perspective, it doesn’t have any network access the display driver, it can access the display again, it can’t touch the network, it can’t go, grab your files and upload them, even if somebody gets into it and tries to make it do things we didn’t intend it To this is all a little complicated, but we’ve added a great amount of system UI to make this easy for you to use. So when you’re just doing your job as a developer, you don’t have to worry about these.
Pretty pictures I’ve drawn for you and I’ll show you of what we did. Thank You. Dylan security is absolutely top of mind for us. While crafting the Linux experience on Chromebooks, we came up with three high-level design goals. The first goal was to keep your experience intuitive. Everyone here in this room has been using computers for a long time and you have just established your workflows and habits.
So, basically, what we wanted to do is to match to those those expectations. We wanted to provide an experience, that’s natural to you. We want developers everywhere to be using Chromebooks and feel right at home doing it. The second goal was to make your experience native. We could have taken the easy path by giving you a full Linux desktop in a VM, but that wasn’t good enough. Our goal was to bring the Linux apps.
You depend on for development into your native Chrome, OS experience. The third goal was to make your experience simple, and I think this is very important. There’s a lot of complexity, that’s going on under the hood, and we want to leave it there. Our guiding principle is that complexity shouldn’t interfere with the user experience. There’s a couple of things. We are trying to balance here. The security concerns that come with installing Linux apps on Chromebooks and the simplicity that comes with sticking to design patterns established by Chrome, OS and our mission was to find that sweet spot all right.
So now we’re going to talk about three common developer flows and see how they work with crusting. The first of these is accessing files as developers. We have to do this all the time our editors need to access files, as do our compilers, our source control and a whole lot more, but the problem is that our file systems have a lot more than just code. They have our personal photos, our tax returns.
Maybe that novel that you’ve been working on a lot can go wrong. Ransomware can hold all of that data hostage. Malware can upload your files to some rain server, or maybe you just get something that goes and deletes everything for the fun of it. We built crostini with those threats in mind to limit what can go wrong and Dylan will tell you how so our goal, sharing files with your VM and with your container, was to make it easy for you to get the files you needed for your development tasks.
Where you need them, but not expose things, you don’t want exposed to untrusted code, because ultimately we don’t trust the code. That’s running inside this VM. To do this, we took a layered approach, your files all live in Chrome OS at the very bottom, and we share them out to the VM with a 9p server. We named it 9s again. We wrote it in rust, so it’s memory safe. We fuzzed it to make sure unexpected inputs, don’t cause unexpected behavior and we put it in a in a tight jail.
So it can access only the files you share with it and it takes those files and exports them to the VM. The VM mounts the 9p thing, that’s built into Linux and then lxd takes that mount and exposes it into your container, where your development tools are running. The important thing here is that your container can only see files. You say I want to share with my development environment. Your VM can only see those same files and even the server that we wrote running on Chrome OS can only see those files.
It doesn’t get to see everything. So somebody exploits this stack all the way back into Chrome OS. They still don’t have access to the files you haven’t shared with the container. That’s a lot of stuff to set up setting up 9 P mounts bind mounting things into containers. We had to do this manually for a while. We were developing it. It was painful, so let’s do to show you how easy we made it for you.
There are a lot of layers going on, but let’s see how simple this is in the UI right out of the box, you have a directory called Linux files, which is your home directory within Linux. Anything in this directory is automatically shared with Linux. Outside of this directory anywhere else on the device, Linux doesn’t have access to anything until you grant permissions I’ll walk you through a couple of examples here, let’s say you’re working on a project, and you see yourself needing files from this.
One folder called illustrations to share this: all you have to do is access the right-click menu and click on share with Linux. In as simple as two steps, you now share this folder with Linux. If you notice, this is in Google Drive and that’s a cool thing when you don’t want to share this anymore, you can do that by going to settings and unshare here’s another example where we made quick edits, really simple for you.
You have a data file in your downloads folder and when you double-click it automatically opens in vs code when this happens in the background it’s implicitly shared and the sharing last until you restart. This is the balance of security and simplicity. We wanted to bring you. Thank you so, for our second developer flow that we’re going to talk about we’re going to look at running a web server. Now being Chrome OS.
We care a lot about people making great web apps and we want to make sure that they can create those on a Chromebook and being able to run a web server is pretty central to being able to build any web app. Unfortunately, web servers also need a pretty low level of access, and that can cause some problems. The code that can run a web server is also capable of snooping on your internet traffic. It can know what sites you’re accessing and, in some cases, even see the contents of those pages.
This means that a malicious web server could potentially track everything that you’re doing now again, we thought of this as we design crostini, and we made sure that we prevented this kind of attack. Linux Dylan will tell you how I can be called Linux. It’s my job. All right so starting a web server from crostini, simple we’ve got a good demo over in the web, dev sandbox already type of command. You fire up your web server, just like you would on any Linux distribution out there what’s actually happening under.
The hood, though, is you’re in a container, and you open up a port that ports in a network namespace inside a VM running under our special hypervisor, which puts its network stack in another namespace on the host and then finally out to Chrome, so Chrome can’t get Back in which is great for security, you’ve got wonderful isolation, but if I want to test this new PWA or webpage, I’m running in my VM, how do I get chrome to talk to it? This was not simple.
So for that we had to add some demons along the way. Actually, every layer gets a daemon for this there’s the first one is running in the in the VM and it’s sitting there waiting to check if any container that’s running happens to open a port, and then it’s got to figure out which container open that port and Bundles that information up sends it to Chrome OS, so hey this port in this container is listening.
The user might want to use that port and on the Chrome, OS side we say – ok, the other daemon responds says I will set up a route to do some forwarding I’m going to forward all of this over Vee sock, which is a protocol used to talk To local VMS, on on machines, that’s kept under the hood, so either end talks HTTP in in to the demons and the daemons dog Vee sock to each other. So the key here is that the web server gets to talk.
Http Chrome gets to talk, HTTP everything’s, normal everything works. Just like you would well under the hood. We’ve got all this extra daemons and V sock forwarding going, but we’ve hidden that one other important thing we’ve made it trusted. So you can get all your PWA features. You can install it to your desktop, even though it’s not technically the same machine. We know it is because we’ve got the information we set up the VM, so we allow that to be trusted domain and all this complexity, I think, makes one of our best demos.
Today of how complicated we made it under the hood and how simple you’re going to see it is to actually use. I totally agree that this is very complicated under the hood, but in the UI it’s exactly like you would expect it to be. Let’s say: you’re experimenting with building this cool PWA here in terminal you’re in your folder pwe, a starter kit, you’re running a commands to start your web server and if you see at the bottom of this screen, it’s listening at port 8080.
At this point, you can launch your browser, go to localhost 8080 and test your web app on the screen here on the left. You have your web app in Chrome and on the right if you’re noticing it it’s in Chrome. Yes, you can test your web app on a Chromebook in Firefox too, if you noticed, we did not prompt you to give any permissions while we were in this flow. This is because the host is accessing the VM and not the other way around again.
This is another way we kind of balanced the security and simplicity factor. We were talking about all right for finally for our third demo, we’re going to talk about testing an Android app now this is really exciting, because just yesterday we announced that Android studio is officially supported on Chromebooks and we even created an installer just for Chrome OS To make it really easy to get started with now, of course, Android studio isn’t the only thing that you need in order to build a great Android app.
You also need something to test that app on usually a phone and well. You could do that over Wi-Fi with ADB remote all this sort of stuff. We wanted to make it easy, just the experience that you’d expect on any other vice. I can plug my phone in over USB and test my app that way. Now, if I’m an Android developer, sure I’ll plug my phone in to test my app, but I’m also going to plug in a lot of other devices over USB over the course of my day, I’m a plug in a USB Drive that has a lot of family Photos on it, I’m a plug in a wearable that has some health information I may even plug in my security key for work.
That gives me all of my access. Malware can take advantage of these devices to uniquely identify you as you move between machines to spread itself or even to make changes to them again. We thought of these threats at when designing crostini and made sure that we were preventing them. Implementing USB was a lot of fun, for us might have been our most painful stack same principles. Apply, we’ve got our layers, we protect the host there’s a lot of attack surface in a hosts USB stack to very complicated kind of loosely spec to protocol.
It’s an exact spec, that’s loosely implemented by a lot of people, so we’ve hidden that kept that on the host side wrote a device that we live in cross VM jail again, we’ve got a USB driver, it’s pretty complicated. It’s got a lot of code in it. I’r sure there’s a bug or two, so we made sure it was very well isolated. It can’t get to your files, they can’t get to the network, it also can’t get to any USB device.
You have to explicitly say hey. I want to give this USB device to my development environment. We’ve tried to make that as easy as possible and what actually happens under the hood. We’ve always got an emulated USB bus running so that the guest always sees hey. I’ve got a USB bus. There’s nothing plugged in and once you indicate that I want to give this to my VM, it says: ok, I’m going to add this device to this bus and then we show it to the guest and then the guest again in turn, has to forward that into The container and the container can see it there’s two things we were really focused on here.
One was security: again we dressed that with the jail, and we made sure the attack surface was as minimal as possible. It’s also written in rust and it’s nice and memory safe and it’s fuzz. But the other issue here is its privacy, because people somehow use lists of USB devices attached to machines to fingerprint and track users, and we wanted to make sure the untrusted code running inside the container couldn’t be another way to do that again.
This is a lot of steps. We have to create a device, we have to export it to a VM. We have to export it to a container. We have to decide which device to export and not and again we’ll have a demo that shows how easy it is. Okay, what this is the last demo, let’s say: I’m on my Linux and Abel Chromebook and you’re plugging in your phone you’ll see a notification that prompts you to connect to Linux.
At this point, only Chrome OS has knowledge of your phone. Linux doesn’t even know that your phone exists and that’s a good thing. If you see here, your phone is not listed in the USB list, but when you rerun the command once you connect on the notification, your phone shows up in the list. At this point, you established access to Linux to your phone. Let’s say: you’re working on a project, you’re developing a cool app again in Android studio and you’re, ready to test it out.
You hit, run and select the phone and boom just like that. You’re able to test your phone test, your app on your phone at this point you can debug and test out your app. Finally, you can go to settings and manage what Linux access to at any point of time. So you can see how security is at the core of your Linux experience on Chromebooks you, the user, are in full control at all times of what linux has access to.
We take advantage of a variety of UX patterns to make it simple to use and also native to Chrome OS. The combination of principles of Chrome, OS and crostini make this experience pretty unique thanks. My turn all right good. We got plenty of time, so we’ve been talking about a lot of details and I’ve been talking a lot about layers and jails and all that’s important and it’s a good reason for you to trust our normal flows and at when I’m using my Chromebook.
I almost always stay within these common workflows that we’ve polished and made sure work. However, a lot of that technical detail I was talking about is still usable and we’ve left hooks in for you to play with it. So I’m glad I’ve got time left. So I can go through a few of these examples and kind of just wait. Your appetite for what else you can do. We don’t test this stuff. We don’t support this stuff.
We really want the standard flow to be enough for everybody, but every once in a while there might be a reason you want to do something a little more advanced or you know you might just want to go, have fun and play with things under the hood. We’re tinkerers right supposed to be so we’ll go through and show how some of this stuff works. All this is going to be from the Chrome, OS shell. This has been in Chrome OS since longer than I have and so ctrl alt T gets you a shell.
There’s a set of debug commands. You can run we’re going to focus on one command, which is the the VMC command that we added to control virtual machines and containers the basic command. You can do a VM C list. It’ll show you what VMs you have installed on your system. I, the default VM, is called termina, so hopefully the fonts big enough and you can see what size it is. The terminal VM is the one that all the demos were done for the slides before.
So it’s up and running, we’ve made a shortcut to enter a container inside of yem. So if you want to go into the default container, the containers name penguin again, that’s that’s where we were doing all these demos from so the there’s, a BMC container command to get you into there will pop out of there and then we’ll pop back into just The VM so VMC start enters your virtual machine without entering your container.
So if you go back to my layers, it’s the one in the middle. The thing that LXDE runs in – and the reason you want to be in here is if you want to manipulate or change containers, so I mentioned we used lxd, there’s going to be a lot of LXE commands, that’s the lxd control program. This is well documented online and most of it will work inside Chrome OS, just like it does on a default. It want to install the first one you can do is a list you can see, we’ve got penguin running, we have one container it’s up and running.
It’s got an IP address, so we’ve got our one container. We might want to play with it a little bit and before we do, maybe I want to make sure I can get back to a state where I know it’s good right, because I’ve broken them before. It’s nice to be able to just go back to where I was and play around without worrying, so standard LXE command, it’s called snapshot and you give it your container name and you can give it the name of your snapshot and now you’ve got an image saved.
That you can go back to if you break things, there’s a copy on right. We use butter FS in the VM, so you’re not eating up a ton of disk space. We can get info on our container. This gives a bunch of information. Again, you can go poke around with this on a Chromebook. If you want to the important bit here, is that we’ve got one snapshot at the bottom, the i/o one snapshot we just created, you can have multiple snapshots.
It’s got a date on it to help. You remember if you didn’t use a very creative name and then, when you want to restore it back, Alex see restore these are well-named commands. They did a better job with this than I did. If you really want to go and play with different things, sometimes you want more than one container, so I’ve got my penguin container and I’m going to go say, install some different libraries in this one.
Maybe I want to have a container. That’s got Python two seven and a different one. That’s got Python three or maybe I want a different container for writing. Go then the container I have for writing rust. So we let you do that you can create as many containers as you want disk space limited. These do do cost this space. The most basic way to start off a new container is to copy an existing one. There’s an LXE copy command.
The example up here copies the the default penguin container over to a new container named Kingfisher. You can list the containers. We’ve got two by default: containers are stopped, so we have to start them now. We can list two there it’s running and you can jump in you say hey. I want to run bash in Kingfisher and now I’ve got a shell in my new container and I can go off and install whatever random toolchain.
I didn’t want in my default container, taking that one step further. We chose Debian because it was kind of the easiest thing for us to do. We didn’t want to tie you down to that, though. We support the Debian workflow. We support some guest packages that are installed in Debian by default, but some people want to use their favorite distro and there is a huge amount of distres available from the image server.
That canonical runs will install an arch one here, I’m not I’m not an arch guy. I don’t really know much about arch, but some of my co-workers talked me into doing this and playing with it. So now you can see, we’ve got three containers and I’ve got two Debian containers, my penguin and my Kingfisher, and now I’ve got something called arch test and again I can enter it by telling it to run bash, and if I want to install packages in this One I’ll use pac-man instead of app it’s actually it’s actually arch.
I promise that’s just a taste of what you can do from here. If you go and look at the LXE and lxd documentation online, you can get some more ideas, there’s even some help online about installing other ones and getting them to integrate better with the GUI. If you want more than just a command line, all right, so Dillon just showed you a bunch of the really cool tricks you can do with crostini. When you go under the hood and if you’re interested in this kind of thing, we really recommend checking out the crostini subreddit.
The folks they’re buying features as soon as we release them, sometimes even sooner and they’re, also really welcoming to new users of Linux on Chromebooks. So if you have any questions, please check it out and a big thanks to the folks there. So that’s Linux. On Chromebooks, as you can see, we already support a lot of web and Android developer flows and there’s a lot more to come, both in supporting other developers and in expanding what we can do with new capabilities like multiple containers and backup and restore we’re going to Keep applying these principles of simplicity and security to give you the best developer experience possible whenever you’re ready, we hope you’ll join us.
However, it meant noting that there had once been an experimental psychology to which we owe many descriptions that are still valuable. Today, I have only to mention dr.: u steams, Karnas Z ran from Provost. All romantic descriptions in psychology were anathema to the new developments in scientific method. The exaggerated expectations of this experimental laboratory science were reflected in Fechner’s psychophysics, and its results today take the form of psychological tests and the general shifting of the scientific standpoint in favor of phenomenology.
Nevertheless, it cannot be maintained that the phenomenological point of view has made much headway. Theory still plays far too great a role instead of being included in phenomenology, as it should even Freud, whose empirical attitude is beyond doubt coupled his theory as a scenic wane, on an indispensable and essential action with his method, as if psychic phenomena had to be viewed. In a certain light, in order to mean something all the same, it was Freud who cleared the ground for the investigation of complex phenomena, at least in the field of neurosis, but the ground he cleared extended only so far as certain basic physiological concepts permitted, so that It looked almost as if psychology were an offshoot of the physiology of the instincts.
This limitation of psychology was a very welcomed to the materialistic outlook of that time. Nearly fifty years ago, and despite our altered view of the world, it still is in large measure. Today. It gives us not only the advantage of a delimited field of work, but also an excellent excuse not to bother with what goes on in a wider world. Thus, it was overlooked by the whole of medical psychology that a physiology of neurosis such as Freud’s, is left hanging in mid-air if it lacks knowledge of a general phenomenology.
It was also overlooked that, in the field of the neurosis, Pierre Janet, even before, Freud had begun to build up a descriptive metadata G without loading it with too many theoretical and philosophical assumptions. Biographical descriptions of psychic phenomena going beyond the strictly medical field were represented chiefly by the work of the philosopher, Theodor Flournoy of Geneva, in his account of the psychology of an unusual personality.
This was followed by the first attempts at synthesis, William James’s varieties of religious experience. In 1902, I owe it mainly to these two investigators that I learned to understand the nature of psychic disturbances within the setting of the human psyche as a whole. I myself did experimental work for several years, but through my intensive studies of the neuroses and psychoses, I had to admit that, however desirable quantitative definitions may be, it is impossible to do without qualitatively descriptive methods.
Medical psychology has recognized that the salient facts are extraordinarily complex and can be grasped only through descriptions based on case material, but this method presupposes freedom from theoretical prejudice. Every science is descriptive at the point where it can no longer proceed experimentally without on that account ceasing to be scientific, but an experimental science makes itself impossible when it de limits its field of work in accordance with theoretical concepts.
The psyche does not come to an end where some physiological assumption or other stops, in other words in each individual case, that we observe scientifically. We have to consider the manifestations of the psyche in their totality. These reflections are essential when discussing an empirical concept like that of the anima, as against the constantly reiterated prejudice that this is a theoretical invention or, worse still, sheer mythology.
I must emphasize that the concept of the anima is a purely empirical concept, whose sole purpose is to give a name to a group of related or analogous psychic phenomena. The concept does no more and means no more than shall we say, the concept arthropods, which includes all animals with articulated body and limbs and so gives a name to this phenomenological group. The prejudice I have mentioned stems, regrettably, though this is from ignorance.
My critics are not acquainted with the phenomena in question, for these lie mostly outside the pale of merely medical knowledge in a realm of universal human experience, but the psyche which the medical man has to do with does not worry about the limitations of his knowledge. It manifests a life of its own and reacts to influences coming from every field of human experience. Its nature shows itself not merely in the personal sphere or in the instinctual or social, but in phenomena of worldwide distribution.
So if we want to understand the psyche, we have to include the whole world for practical reasons. We can, indeed must delimit our fields of work, but this should be done only with the conscious recognition of limitation, the more complex the phenomena which we have to do with impractical treatment. The wider must be our frame of reference and the greater the corresponding knowledge. Anyone, therefore, who does not know the universal distribution and significance of the syzygy motive in the psychology of primitives, in mythology, in comparative religion and in the history of literature, can hardly claim to say anything about the concept of the anima footnote two primitives, I’m thinking especially Of shamanism, with its idea of the celestial wife, his knowledge of the psychology of the neuroses may give him some idea of it.
But it is only a knowledge of its general phenomenology that could open his eyes to the realm, a meaning of what he encounters in individual cases, often in pathologically distorted form. Although common prejudice still believes that the sole essential basis of our knowledge is given exclusively from outside and that Neil asked in intellect to quod non antara through Ariat incense ooh, it nevertheless remains true that the thoroughly respectable atomic theory of Lucilla’s and Democritus was not based On any observation of atomic fission, but on a mythological conception of smaller particles, which, as the smallest animated parts, the sole atoms are known even to distill paleolithic, inhibit ins of Central Australia.
Footnote Jung really loves his Latin. That line means nothing is in the intellect that was not first in the senses. How much soul is projected into the unknown in the world of external appearances is, of course familiar to anyone acquainted with the natural science and natural philosophy of the Ancients. It is in fact so much that we are absolutely incapable of saying how the world is constituted in itself and always shall be, since we are obliged to convert physical events into psychic processes as soon as we want to say anything about knowledge.
But who can guarantee that this conversion produces anything like an adequate objective picture of the world? That could only be if the physical event were also a psychic one, but a great distance still seems to separate us from such an assertion till then we must for better or for worse content ourselves with the assumption that the psyche supplies those images and forms which Alone make knowledge of objects possible.
These forms are generally supposed to be transmitted by tradition so that we speak of atoms today, because we have heard directly or indirectly of the atomic theory of Democritus, but where did Democritus or whoever first spoke of minimal constitutive elements here of atoms. This notion had its origin in archetypal ideas, that is in primordial images which were never reflections of physical events, but are spontaneous products of the psychic factor.
Despite the materialistic tendency to understand the psyche as a mayor, reflection or imprint of physical and chemical processes, there is not a single proof of this hypothesis. Quite the contrary. Innumerable facts prove that the psyche translates physical processes into sequences of images which have hardly any recognizable connection with the objective process. The materialistic hypothesis is much too bold and flies in the face of experience with almost metaphysical presumption.
The only thing that can be established with certainty in the present state of our knowledge is our ignorant of the nature of the psyche. There is thus no ground at all for regarding the psyche as something secondary or as an epiphenomenon. On the contrary, there is every reason to regard it at least hypothetically as a factor sui generis and to go on doing so until it has been sufficiently proved that psychic processes can be fabricated in a retort, footnote sui generis means unique or of its own kind.
We have laughed at the claims of the alchemists to be able to manufacture a philosopher’s stone consisting of body. Soul and spirit is impossible. Hence we should stop dragging along with us the logical consequence of this medieval assumption, namely the materialistic prejudice regarding the psyche, as though it were a proven fact, it will not be so easy to reduce complex psychic facts to a chemical formula.
Hence the psychic factor must, according to hypothesis, be regarded for the present as an autonomous reality of an agnostic character, primarily because, judging from all, we know, it appears to be essentially different from physico-chemical processes, even if we do not ultimately know what its substantiality is. This is equally true of physical objects and of matter in general, so if we regarded the psyche as an independent factor, we must logically conclude that there is a psychic life which is not subject to the caprices of our will.
If then, those qualities of elusiveness, superficiality, shadowing us and indeed of utility attached to anything psychic, this is primarily true of the subjective, psychic ie, the contents of consciousness, but not of the objective psychic the unconscious, which is an a priori conditioning factor of consciousness and its Contents from the unconscious there emanate determining influences which, independently of tradition, guarantee in every single individual, a similarity and even a sameness of experience, and also of the way it is represented.
Imaginatively. One of the main proof of this is the almost universal parallelism between mythological motives, which, on account of their quality as primordial images. I have called archetypes one of these archetypes, which is of paramount practical importance for the psychotherapists I have named the anima. This Latin expression is meant to connote, something that should not be confused with any dogmatic Christian idea of the soul or with any of the previous philosophical conceptions of it.
If one wishes to form anything like a concrete conception of what this term covers, one would do better to go back to a classical author, like Macrobius or to classical Chinese philosophy where the anima is regarded as the feminine and cathodic part of the soul. A parallel of this kind always runs the risk of metaphysical, concrete ISM, which I do my best to avoid, though any attempt at graphic description is bound to succumb to it up to a point, for we are dealing here not with an abstract concept, but with an Empirical one and the form in which it appears necessarily clings to it so that it cannot be described at all, except in terms of its specific phenomenology unperturbed by the philosophical pros and cons of the age.
A scientific psychology must regard those transcendental intuitions. That sprang from the human mind in all ages as projections that is as psychic contents that were extrapolated in metaphysical space and high pasta, tais footnote this standpoint derives from Kant’s theory of knowledge and has nothing to do with materialism. We encounter the anima historically, above all in the divine sissy G’s, the male/female pairs of deities.
These reach down on the one side into the obscurities of primitive mythology and up on the other side, into the philosophical speculations of agnosticism and of classical Chinese philosophy. Where the cosmogonic pairs of concepts are designated yang, the masculine Andean, the feminine – we can safely assert that these cities are as universal as the existence of man and woman. From this fact, we may reasonably conclude that man’s imagination is bound by this motive so that he was largely compelled to project it again and again, at all times and in all places.
Hermetic alchemical philosophy from the fourteenth to the 17th centuries provides a wealth of instructive examples. Now, as we know from psychotherapeutic experience, projection is an unconscious automatic process whereby a Content that is unconscious to the subject transfers itself to an object so that it seems to belong to that object. The projection ceases the moment it becomes conscious, that is to say when it is seen as belonging to the subject.
There are, of course, cases where, in spite of the patient’s, seemingly sufficient insight, the reactive effect of the projection does not cease, and the expected liberation does not take place. I have often observed that, in such cases, a meaningful but unconscious contents are still bound up with the projection carrier. It is these contents that keep up with the effect of the projection, although it has apparently been seen through.
Thus, the polytheistic heaven of the Ancients, owes its deep potentiation, not least to the view first propounded by you him eros, who maintained that the gods were nothing but reflections of human character. Indeed, easy to show that the divine pair is simply an idealization of the parents or of some other human couple which, for some reason, appeared in heaven. This assumption would be simple enough if projection were not an unconscious process, but were a conscious intention.
It would generally be supposed that one’s own parents are the best known of all individuals, the ones of which the subject is most conscious. But precisely for this reason they could not be projected because projection always contains something of which the subject is not conscious and which seems not to belong to him. The image of the parents is the very one that could be projected least because it is too conscious.
In reality, however, it is just apparent Allah Margot’s that seem to be projected most frequently a fact so obvious that one could almost draw the conclusion that it is precisely the conscious contents which are projected. This can be seen most plainly in cases of transference where it is perfectly clear to the patient that the father, imago or even the mother imago is projected on to the analyst and he even sees through the incest fantasies bound up with them without, however, being freed From the reactive affect of his projection, ie from the transference, in other words, he behaves exactly as if he had not seen through his projection.
At all, experience shows that projection is never conscious. Projections are always there first and are recognized afterwards. We must therefore assume that, over and above the incest fantasy, highly emotional contents are still bound up with the parent. Elimi goes and need to be made conscious. They are obviously more difficult to make conscious than the incest fantasies which are supposed to have been repressed through violent resistance and to be unconscious.
For that reason, supposing this view is correct? We are driven to the conclusion that, besides the incest fantasy, there must be contents which are repressed through a still greater resistance, since it is difficult to imagine anything more repellent than incest. We find ourselves rather at a loss to answer this question. If we let practical experience speak, it tells us that, apart from the incest, fantasy, religious ideas are associated with the parent of a Margot’s.
I do not need to cite historical proofs of this as they are known to all, but what about the alleged objectionable, nosov, religious associations? Someone once observed that an ordinary society. It is more embarrassing to talk about God at the table than to tell a risque story. Indeed, for many people, it is more bearable to admit their sexual fantasies than to be forced to confess that their analyst is a savior for the former are biologically legitimate, whereas the latter instance is definitely pathological, and this is something we greatly fear.
It seems to me, however, that we make too much of resistance. The phenomena in question can be explained just as easily by lack of imagination and reflectiveness, which makes the act of conscious realization so difficult for the patient. He may perhaps have no particular resistance to religious ideas. Only the thought has never occurred to him that he could seriously regard his analyst as a God or Savior.
Mere reason alone is sufficient to protect him from such illusions, but he is less slow to assume that his analysist thinks himself 1. When one is dogmatic oneself, it is notoriously easy to take other people for profits and founders of religions. Now religious ideas as history shows are charged with an extremely suggestive emotional power among them. I naturally reckon all representations collectives anything that we learn from the history of religion and anything that has an ism attached to it.
The latter is only a modern variant of the denominational religions. A man may be convinced in all good faith that he has no religious ideas, but no one can fall so far away from humanity that he no longer has any dominating representations. Collective, his very materialism, atheism, communism, socialism, liberalism, intellectualism, existentialism or whatnot testifies against his innocence somewhere or other overtly or covertly he is possessed by a superordinate idea.
The psychologist knows how much religious ideas have to do with the parental in Margo’s. History has preserved overwhelming evidence of this, quite apart from modern medical findings which have even led a certain people to suppose that the relationship to the parents is the real origin of religious ideas. This hypothesis is based on the very poor knowledge of the facts in the first place, one should not simply translate the family psychology of modern man into a context of primitive conditions where things are so very different.
Secondly, one should beware of ill-considered tribal father and primal horde fantasies. Thirdly, and most importantly, one should have the most accurate knowledge of the phenomenology of religious experience, which is a subject in itself. Psychological investigations in this field have so far not fulfilled any of these three conditions. The only thing we know positively from psychological experience is that theistic ideas are associated with the parent Allah Margot’s and that our patients are mostly unconscious of them.
If the corresponding projections cannot be withdrawn through insight, then we have every reason to suspect the presence of emotional contents of a religious nature, regardless of the rationalistic resistance of the patient. So far as we have any information about man, we know that he has always and everywhere being under the influence of dominating ideas. Anyone who alleges that he is not can immediately be suspected of having exchanged a known form of the leaf for a variant which is less known both to himself and to others.
Instead of theism, he is a devotee of atheism. Instead of Dionysus, he favors the more modern Mithras and instead of heaven he seeks paradise on earth. A man without a dominating representation. Collective would be a thoroughly abnormal phenomenon, but such a person exists only in the fantasies of isolated individuals who are deluded about themselves. They are mistaken not only about the existence of religious ideas, but also, and more especially, about their intensity.
The archetype behind a religious idea has like every instinct, it’s specific energy which it does not lose, even if the conscious mind ignores it, just as it can be assumed, with the greatest probability that every man possesses all the average human functions and qualities. So we may expect the presence of normal religious factors, the archetypes, and this expectation does not prove fallacious. Anyone who succeeds in putting off the mantle of faith can do so only because another lies close to hand.
No one can escape the prejudice of being human. The representations collectives have a dominating power, so it is not surprising that they are repressed with the most intense resistance when repressed. They do not hide behind any trifling thing, but behind ideas and figures that have already become problematical for other reasons and intensify and complicate their dubious nature. For instance, everything that we could like in infantile fashion, to attribute to our parents or blame them for is blown up to fantastic proportions from the secret sauce, and for this reason it remains an open question.
How much of the ill reputed incest fantasy is to be taken seriously behind a parent, the pair or pair of lovers, like contents of extreme tension, which are not a perceived in consciousness and can therefore become perceptible only through projection? That projections of this kind do actually occur and are not just traditional opinions is attested by historical documents. These show that cities were projected which were in complete contradiction to the traditional beliefs and that they were often experienced in the form of a vision footnote.
This is not to overlook the fact that there is probably a far greater number of visions which agree with the dogma. Nevertheless, they are not spontaneous and autonomous projections in the strict sense, but our visualizations of conscious contents evoked through prayer or to suggestion and hetero suggestion. Most Spiritual Exercises have this effect, and so do the prescribed meditation practices of the East in any thorough investigation of such visions.
It would have to be ascertained, among other things, what the actual vision was and how far dogmatic elaboration contributed to its form. One of the most instructive examples in this respect is the vision of the recently canonized Nicholas of fluo, a Swiss mystic of the 15th century, of whose visions we possess reports by his contemporaries in the visions that marked his initiation into the state of adoption by God.
God appeared in dual form once as a majestic father and once as a majestic mother. This representation could not be more unorthodox since the church had eliminated the feminine element from the Trinity. A thousand years earlier, as heretical brother Klaus, was a simple unlettered peasant who doubtless had received none, but the approved church teaching and was certainly not acquainted with the gnostic interpretation of the holy ghost as the feminine and motherly Sophia.
His so-called trinity vision is, at the same time a perfect example of the intensity of projected contents. Brother classes. Psychological situation was eminently suited to a projection of this kind, for his conscious idea of God was so little in accord with the unconscious content that the latter had to appear in the form of an alien and a shattering experience. We must conclude from this that it was not the traditional idea of God, but, on the contrary, a heretical image that realized itself in visionary form an archetypal interpretation which came to life again spontaneously, independently of tradition.
It was the archetype of the divine pear the syzygy. There is a very similar case in the visions of Jolanda G Louisville, which are described in the pillory Najd Alam. He saw God in the highest heaven as the king on the shining round throne and beside him sat the Queen of Heaven on a throne of brown crystal for a monk of the Cistercian order which, as we know, is distinguished for its severity. That this vision is exceedingly heretical, so here again the condition for projection is fulfilled.
Another impressive account of the syzygy vision can be found in the work of Edward Maitland, who wrote the biography of Anna Kingsford there. He describes in detail his own experience of God, which, like that of brother Klaus, consisted in a vision of light. He says this was God, as the Lord, proving by his duality that godess substance as well as force love as well as will feminine as well as masculine mother as well as father.
These few examples may suffice to characterize the experience of projection and those features of it, which are independent of tradition. We can hardly get around to the hypothesis that an emotionally-charged content is lying already in the unconscious and springs into projection at a certain moment. This content is the sitter G motive and it expresses the fact that a masculine element is always paired with a feminine one.
The wide distribution and extraordinary emotionality of this motive prove that it is a fundamental psychic factor of great practical importance, no matter whether the individual, psycho, therapist or psychologist, understands where and in what way. Din fluence — is his special field of work. Microbes, as we know, played their dangerous role long before they were discovered. As I have said, it is natural to suspect the parental pair in all cities of the feminine part.
The mother corresponds to the anima, but since for the reasons discussed above consciousness of the object prevents its projection, there is nothing for it, but to assume that parents are also the least known of all human beings and consequently, that an unconscious reflection of the parent pair Exists which is as unlike them as utterly alien and in commensurable as a man compared with a God, it would be conceivable and as as we know, being asserted that the unconscious reflection is none other than the image of father and mother.
That was acquired in early childhood overvalued and later repressed, on account of the incest fantasy associated with it. This hypothesis presupposes that the image was once conscious, otherwise it could not have been repressed. It also presupposes that the act of moral repression has itself become unconscious, for otherwise the act would remain preserved in consciousness, together with the memory of the repressive moral reaction from which the nature of the thing repressed could easily be recognized.
I do not want to enlarge on these misgivings, but would merely like to emphasize that there is general agreement on one point, namely that the parental imago comes into existence, not in a pre-pubertal period or at a time when consciousness is more or less developed. But in the initial stages, between the first and fourth year, when consciousness does not show any real continuity and is characterized by a kind of island like discontinuity, the ego relationship that is required for continuity of consciousness is present only in part.
So there’s a large proportion of psychic life at this stage runs on in a state which can only be described as relatively unconscious. At all events, it is a state which would give the impression of a somnambulist, ik dream or twilight state. If observed in an adult. These states, as we know from the observation of small children, are always characterized by an a perception of reality filled with fantasies.
The fantasy images outweigh the influence of sensory stimuli and mold them into conformity with a pre-existing psychic image. It is, in my view, a great mistake to suppose that the psyche of a newborn a child is a tabula rasa, in the sense that there is absolutely nothing in it insofar as the child is born with a differentiated brain that is predetermined by heredity and therefore Individualized, it meets sensory stimuli coming from outside, not with any aptitudes but with specific ones, and this necessarily results in a particular individual choice and pattern of a perception.
These aptitudes can be shown to be inherited instincts and preformed patterns, the latter being the a priori and formal conditions of a perception that are based on instinct. Their presence gives the world of the child and a dreamer its anthropomorphic stamp. They are the archetypes which direct all fantasy activity into its appointed paths and, in this way, produce in the fantasy images of children’s dreams, as well as in the delusions of schizophrenia.
Astonishing mythological parallels such as can also be found, though, in lesser degree, into dreams of normal persons and neurotics. It is not, therefore, a question of inherited ideas, but have inherited possibilities of ideas, nor are they individual acquisitions, but in the main common to all, as can be seen from the universal occurrence of the archetypes, just as the archetypes occur on the ethnological level as myths.
So also they are found in every individual and their effect is always strongest, that is their anthropomorphize reality most where consciousness is weakest and most restricted and where fantasy can overrun the facts of the outer world. This condition is undoubtedly present in the child during the first years of its life. It therefore seems to me more probable that the archetypal form of the divine syzygy first covers up and assimilates the image of the real parents until with increasing consciousness.
The real figures of the parents are perceived often to the child’s disappointment. Nobody knows better than the psychotherapist that the mythologizing of the parents is often pursued far and to adulthood and is given up only with the greatest resistance. I remember a case that was presented to me as the victim of a high grade mother and castration complex, which had still not been overcome in spite of psychoanalysis without any hint from me, the man had made some drawings which showed the mother first, as a superhuman Being and then, as a figure of woe with the bloody mutilations, I was especially struck by the fact that a castration had obviously been performed on the mother for in front of her gory genitals lay the cut of male sexual organs.
The drawings clearly represented a diminishing climax. First, the mother was a divine hermaphrodite who then threw the sons disappointing. Experience of reality was robbed of its androgynous platonic perfection and changed into the woeful figure of an ordinary old woman. Thus, from the very beginning from the son’s earliest childhood, the mother was assimilated to the archetypal idea of the CCG or conjunction of male and female, and for this reason, appeared perfect and superhuman.
The latter quality invariably attaches to the archetype and explains why the archetype appears strange and as if not belonging to consciousness, and also why, if the subject identifies with it, it often causes a devastating change of personality generally in the form of megalomania or its opposite sons. Disappointment affected a castration of her hermaphroditic mother. This was the patient’s so-called castration complex.
He had tumbled down from his childhood Olympus and was no longer the son hero of a divine mother. His so-called fear of castration was fear of real life, which refused to come up to his erstwhile childish expectations and everywhere lacked that mythological, meaning which he still dimly remembered from his earliest youth. His life was in the truest sense of the word godless and that for him, though, he did not realize it meant a dire loss of hope and energy.
He thought of himself as castrated, which is a very plausible, neurotic misunderstanding, so plausible that it could even be turned into a theory of neurosis, because people have always feared that the connection with the instinctive archetypal stage of consciousness might get lost in the course of life. The custom has long since been adopted of giving the newborn child, in addition to his bodily parents, to godparents a godfather and a godmother who are supposed to be responsible for the spiritual welfare of their godchild.
They represent the pair of gods who appear at its birth. Thus, illustrating the dual birth motive, the anima image, which lends the mother such superhuman glamour in the eyes of the son, gradually becomes tarnished by commonplace reality and sinks back into the unconscious, but without in any way losing its original tension and instinctive’ti. It is ready to spring out and project itself at the first opportunity.
The moment a woman makes an impression that is out of the ordinary. We then have Bertha’s experience with FRA Fantine and it’s repercussions in the figures of mignon and Gretchen all over again. In the case of Gretchen, you ëthis also showed us the whole underlying metaphysic. The love life of a man reveals the psychology of this archetype and a form either of bunglers fascination, overvaluation and infatuation, or of misogyny in all its gradations and variants, none of which can be explained by the real nature of the object in question.
But only by a transference of the mother complex, the complex, however, was caused in the first place by the assimilation of the mother in itself a normal and ubiquitous phenomenon to the pre-existent feminine side of an archetypal male-female pair of opposites and secondly, by an abnormal delay. In detaching from the primordial image of the mother, actually nobody can stand the total loss of the archetype.
When that happens, it gives rise to that frightful discontent in our culture, where nobody feels at home because of father and mother are missing. Everyone knows the provisions that religion has always made in this respect. Unfortunately, there are very many people who thoughtlessly go on asking whether these provisions are true when it is really a question of a psychological need. Nothing is achieved by explaining them away rationalistic li when projected the anima always has a feminine form with definite characteristics.
This empirical finding does not mean that the archetype is constituted, like that in itself. The male/female syzygy is only one among the possible pairs of opposites. Evade the most important one in practice and the most common, it has numerous connections with other pairs which do not display any sex differences at all and can therefore be put into the sexual category only by main force. These connections with their manifold shades of meaning are found more particularly in Kundalini Yoga, in a Gnosticism and, above all, in alchemical philosophy.
Quite apart from the spontaneous fantasy products and neurotic and psychotic case material, when one carefully considers this accumulation of data, it begins to seem probable that an archetype in its quiescent unprojected state has no exact determinable form, but is in itself an indefinite structure which can assume Definite forms only in projection. This seems to contradict the concept of a type.
If I am not mistaken, it not only seems, but actually is a contradiction. Empirically speaking, we are dealing all the time with types definite forms that can be named and distinguished, but as soon as you divest these types of the phenomenology presented by the case material and try to examine them in relation to other archetypal forms. They branch out into such far-reaching ramifications in the history of symbols that one comes to the conclusion that the basic psychic elements are infinitely varied and ever-changing, so was utterly to defy our powers of imagination.
The empiricist must therefore content himself with a theoretical, as if, in this respect, he’s no worse off than the atomic physicist, even though his method is not based on quantitative measurement, but is a morphologically descriptive one. The anima is a factor of the utmost importance in the psychology of a man wherever emotions and effects are at work. She intensifies exaggerates falsifies and mythologize.
— is all emotional relations with his work and with other people of both sexes. The resultant fantasies and entanglements are all her doing when the anima as strongly constellated. She softens the man’s character and makes him touchy irritable moody jealous vain and unadjusted. He is then in a state of discontent and spreads discontent all around him. Sometimes the man’s relationship to the woman who has caught his anima accounts for the existence over this syndrome.
The anima, as I have remarked in the first paper in this volume, has not escaped the attentions of the poets. There are excellent descriptions of her which, at the same time, tell us about the symbolic context in which the archetype is usually embedded. I give first place to rider Haggard’s novels. She, the return of she and wisdoms daughter and Benoit’s Rutland tied Benoit, was accused of plagiarizing rider Haggard, because the two accounts are disconcertingly alike, but it seems he was able to acquit himself of this charge.
Spitler z, — prometheus, contains some very subtle observations too, and his novel imago gives in a deniable description of projection therapy is a problem that cannot be disposed of. In a few words, it was not my intention to deal with it here, but I would like to outline my point of view. Younger people who have not yet reached the middle of life around the age of 35 can bear even the total loss of the anima.
Without injury, the important thing at the stages for a man to be a man, the growing youth must be able to free himself from the anima fascination of his mother. There are exceptions, notably artists, where the problem often takes a different turn. Also, homosexuality, which is usually characterized by identity with the anima in view of the recognized frequency of this phenomenon, its interpretation as of pathological perversion, is very dubious.
The psychological findings show that it is rather a matter of incomplete detachment from the hammer phreatic archetype, coupled with distinct resistance to identify with the role of a one sided sexual being. Such a disposition should not be a judged negative in all circumstances, insofar as it preserves the archetype of the original man, which a one sided sexual being has up to a point lost footnote conforming to the bisexual original man in Plato symposium and to the hem Aphrodite Primal beings in general, after the middle of life, however, permanent loss of the anima means a diminution of vitality, of flexibility and of human kindness.
The result as a rule is premature of rigidity. Crustiness stereotypy fanatical one-sidedness, obstinacy, pedantry or else resignation, weariness, sloppiness, a responsibility and, finally, a childish formalism all with a tendency to alcohol after middle life. Therefore, the connection with the archetypal sphere of existence should, if possible, be re-established, and that concludes the reading of chapter 1.
Hope you enjoyed it and you liked it feel free to provide feedback or express your opinions below also have a nice day.
My name is valerie van Leuven, I’m a registered nurse and a co-owner of LTC expert publications. My business partner is George no vison and you guys are listening to the home care revenue. Builders, monthly, webinar. It’s my turn this month, and so since we are the online portion of training for homecare revenue builders, and many of you are our clients already.
What we’re going to talk about today is something that I think is a little bit misunderstood. I’r going to say a lot of information pretty fast, so that’s why i’m going to send out the replay on a youtube article for everybody to read at the end of the presentation. I questions. So if you have any questions you might want to jot them down the way we take questions because we tend out a lot of people on these calls is by typing them in.
So if you do have a question any time you don’t have to wait till the end. You can type it into your little questions area there on your little dashboard that you have so with that. Let’s get started so we’re going to talk about backlinks for your home care website, we’re going to talk about what are backlinks. Why are they important? Can you rank your website on the first page of Google without them? How do you get more backlinks, I’m going to show you some examples with some pictures that are pretty interesting and what are other SEO factors that matter so LTC X, for publications is all about content search engine optimization and getting you to the first page of Google And backlinks are part of what we do, but there are cells and other things that matter to so we just thought we’d.
Take this one little piece and talk about it today. So what are backlinks backlinks are incoming links to a web page when a web page links to any other page. It’s called a backlink in the past backlinks for the major metric for ranking of a web page. A page with lots of backlinks tends to rank higher with all major search engines, including Google, and so we’re going to talk about some common terms that are associated with the word backlinks, so link juice.
We hear that a lot and, if you’re, not a web geek like me, it’s hard to remember all this stuff. You don’t have to remember it, but just have a general knowledge of it is really important, so link juice when a web page links to any of your articles or your website’s homepage, it passes, link juice. So if the New York Times links to your website, that’s huge, and that would be an awesome thing to have happen – doesn’t happen to us very often.
But it would be great because in New York Times of course, has tons of credibility and authority according to google. So if it links to your page is passing link juice, and that gives your website a ton of credibility and authority. This link juice helps with the ranking of the article and also improves your domain Authority, meaning it makes your importance of your domain and the eyes of Google go higher as a blogger or as a website owner.
You can stop passing link juice by using a nofollow tag. So let’s say you have a resource page on your website and many of you do. You want to list all the local and national resources which, by the way, is not necessary. But if you insist on that, then that is okay, but you need to make sure that those links are nofollow links when a website like yours links to another website. But the link has a nofollow tag and that’s something behind the scenes that you can’t see that link does not pass link juice.
So while the New York Times can afford to give you some link juice, you all being a small small player in the world of web sites cannot afford to pass much link juice. That’s why we encourage you not to have resources page, you really don’t need them. It’s okay: it doesn’t really hurt that much, but you know you are the resource, so people should be calling you for that information. Nofollow links are not useful concerning the ranking of a page as they do not contribute anything.
In general, a webmaster uses the nofollow tag, meaning behind the scenes when he is linking out to an unreliable site, okay, so in other words, if you are also leaking out to sites where you’re not sure, if that website or that biz, this is going to be Around five years from now or two years from now or you’re, not really sure about it, but it does have something valuable that you want to link to, and then you might want to make sure that your link is a nofollow link so that if that website Goes away it doesn’t, you know, hurt you or if it’s tagged as an unreliable site by google, it won’t hurt you.
So these are some of the things that your webmaster probably takes into consideration. But it’s just important to kind of know. The differences between a nofollow link and a do follow link. I do follow link by default, all the links that you add in a blog post or do follow links and these paths link juice. So if we put up an article on your website or a page on your website – and it has some content in it – and it has a link to another to like near the source of the article or something like that – that’s okay, and unless we tag it As a nofollow link, it’s called a do, follow, link and do follow.
Links pass the link juice in some cases, that’s appropriate, especially if you’re citing a source in your article – that’s perfectly appropriate, but you just don’t want to have tons of links going away from your site. You want to have people stay on your site for the most part linking root domains. This refers to the number of backlinks coming to your website from a unique domain. Even if a website has a link to your website ten times, it would be considered as the one link root domain.
I’r going to show you an example of that in a minute. So if you were to get some links from the new york times like this, a new york times, /a old age, blog link to your site, you’re really only getting a root domain link from the new york times. Even though the page is ford, /, old age, blog, so low quality links – and this is the biggest problem that I see most of our clients having and it’s usually from some mistakes that have been made in the past by pipe prior web developers prior SEO, people And that’s having low quality links, low-quality links are links that come from harvested sites, automated sites, spam sites or even porn sites.
Such links do far more harm than good. This is the one reason you should be careful when buying backlinks. Careful is not even the right word: you should never buy backlinks, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never buy backlinks. So if someone has told you that they bought backlinks, for you are they’re going to give you a backlinking service and you ask them how and there you say: well we’re going to buy backlinks for you.
You need to run away quick because low-quality links like that are typically going to destroy your rear, ranking of your website. Sometimes we run across a site that has been completely d indexed by google and the reason that has happened is because in the past that website has been abused and no one knows it. So a prior SEO person a prior web developer, someone who thought they were super smart, went out and bought tons of backlinks that are now invalid or on shady websites, and so your website is not penalized and there are ways to see if that has happened, and There are ways to correct it, but the reality is it’s a long haul, a long process and a lot of work.
You’d, almost not in every case, but in a lot of cases, you’d be better off starting over with a new website domain name as much as people hate doing that. Sometimes that is the very best thing to do. If you are completely what we call in the geek world sandbox and you have no chance of ever ranking for anything, but that doesn’t happen very often seen it once or twice in the history of our business.
And someone has come to us with a website that has just been pretty much destroyed by someone who work for them previously internal links. This is important to internal links. Links that are going from one page to another within the same domain are called internal links, and the process itself is referred to internal, linking so with our clients. You would see at the bottom of every website or every blog post, that we do if you scroll to the bottom, usually there’s a final sentence there that says, if you were an aging loved one, are considering in home care services in the Los Angeles area.
Please contact blah blah blah home care agency at buppa, buppa, buppa and somewhere in that sentence. We link home care Los Angeles to another page on your website and the reason we do that is because you need some internal linking so when I say home care, in Los Angeles, I usually would link to your services page because that’s where you talk about all Of your home care services that you provide in city of Los Angeles, so we do some internal linking with each blog post, but we don’t overdo it.
We only do it one time with 1g word phrase, so that’s important to know to anchor text anchor text is a text. That’s used to hyperlink to some other place, so anchor text. Backlinks are great when you’re trying to rank for particular keywords. This is you have to be very careful about this internal, linking you can link from any so the word home care, in Los Angeles, would be the anchor text and if you click on that text, that text goes to the services page and that’s okay, you’re, linking Internally, jarrow stuff on your own website.
However, if you were to go out and let’s say by a thousand backlinks – which you should never do – and you told the person who is doing those backlinks that every time they back link to your website from all these styles and other websites, that you want it To be the keyword phrase home care Los Angeles, so all these other bad shady sites are back linking to your website with a keyword, phrase home care, los angeles’, that’s a no! No! No, and because now Google will say: okay, you’re, spamming, rephrase home chair Los Angeles.
So now we are not going to rank you at all for the keyword phrase home care, los angeles’ goodbye and they that you may rank for senior chair los angeles but you’ll, never ranked for the keyword phrase home care los angeles’. So you have to be careful about your anchor text. What’s normal with anchor text is having a your text that says view our website or read more here. Those kinds of things are completely normal anchor text when you’re linking from one website to another website.
So why are backlinks important? They improve organic ranking backlinks help in getting better search engine rankings. If any of your content getting organic links from other sites. That content will naturally rank higher with search engines. Your goal should be to create links to individual posts and pages along with your home page. So if you do get a link back to your site or you know, you have an opportunity for somebody out there to link to your site – you not just directed to the home page all the time you want some of your backlinks to go to internal pages.
On your website, and that will help you also tremendously another reason that backlinks are important: faster indexing of your site, so backlinks help search engine BOTS to discover links to your site and crawl your site effectively, especially for a new website. It’s important to get backlinks as they help in the faster discovery and indexing of your site. So if you don’t have any backlinks, it’s really hard to rank.
If you have some backlinks, that’s great, especially if you’re in a really competitive market, i’m going to show you what that looks like for the keyword phrase home share, los angeles in just a minute. But when Google indexes – let’s say my website home care daily and they see a link to your website and your website’s brand new. Well, that’s great, because now they say okay, we also have to link this index.
This other website that Valerie’s home care daily.Com websites linking to so they go to your website and index it again. So all the backlinks help you get more discoverability referral traffic. So the other thing that backlinks view like say that your blog post is there’s a link to it on Facebook. People will click on that link and they’ll go back to your website. So one of the major benefits of backlinks is that they help get referral traffic.
Usually, referral traffic is targeted and has a low bounce rate, so referral traffic is going to come to you from places like facebook and twitter and linkedin pinterest other websites. That may have referenced your link and we see a lot of on our some of our national sites that we run. We see a lot of people on twitter, referring to the article that was just posted and saying that this is a good read and then other people will click on it and so we’re getting referral traffic.
Google wants to see engagement, so the more people are clicking on links and they’re. Going back to your website. That’s awesome! So engagement. It really helps and that’s why referral traffic is important. Ok. So this is a long, long string of text, but I want you to know something important: can your website rank without backlinks? Well, it is possible to rank without backlinks you’re going to have a difficult time trying, especially if you’re hoping to rank for a competitive keyword.
So if you’re in South Florida and you’re trying to rank for home care Palm Beach Florida, that is the most one of the most competitive markets, home care, San Diego, would be another example anywhere we have a large metro area or in the Sun Belt. We have a large group of seniors you’re always going to have home care, be an extremely competitive word. Google still sees quality backlinks as a sign of authority, and obtaining them should still be an important element of your SEO strategy.
There are two times when it’s possible to rank well without backlinks number. One is if you’re attempting to rank for a unique keyword, one that no one uses or phrase when there’s little competition and ranking that way, ranking becomes much easier. So if you want to rank for tiny little widgets in West Winnemucca Nevada, if that’s the keyword, phrase you’re looking for then use probably pretty easy to do even without backlinks but home care, Los Angeles is going to be exponentially harder.
It’s possible for individual pages to rank well without backlinks, as long as a site as a whole has several backlinks and is already seen as an authority within google, and i’m going to show you that in just a minute. This is common in large and well-known web sites, particularly media websites like, for example, the New York Times that would not have backlinks immediately upon publication, while acquiring backlink would certainly help.
They aren’t always necessary in this case, to rank. So if your website is super popular in the world, you know what you have less worries about: bank backlinking, because you’ve already done it and it’s a huge website and its trusted by google. So most of us aren’t drudge most of aren’t the new york times or Huffington Post or any of those. So we are going to have to work on backlinking. Most of us don’t live in West Winnemucca Nevada, so we are going to have to work on backlinking.
So how do you get backlinks, and that is the trick, so there are a few ways to do it. None of them are easy, but some of them are easier than others, so right awesome articles for other websites. Now, if you are our client and you are in our SEO program, then you know that you have articles on other websites. Already we have the approved senior network which covers topics like Alzheimer’s care and reducing hospital readmission rates and many other things home care safety.
Our safety in the home for seniors. Well, it just it’s all kinds of stuff, so we already have you with backlinks to your website on a national site and also on a local site. That is not yours, but that’s not going to carry you far far far far far. We do what we can, but you also need to work on some of that too. The best way to do that is to write an article and have it placed on another website. There are tons of eldercare websites out there that would love to have good content and there it’s easy for you that you know you’re, not writer, so we get it.
You can have somebody write the article for you, ghost write it for you and place it on another website. You can write awesome articles for your website. If you are a client, you know that you already have some content. That’s put on your website every single week and when you contribute content, that’s even better so that kind of, if you have a service like ours, that’s engaged with you. You already have this being done, start commenting, so you can start commenting on websites like caricom, caring calm, I don’t know whatever elder chair websites.
You can google them there’s a million of them out there. If they have a forum section, you can go in and comment. I wouldn’t go in and pay somebody to comment randomly and spam, a bunch of websites. You can buy anything on fiverr com. That doesn’t mean it’s any good. You want to pick and choose the websites that you’re commenting on and you want to make sure you can leave your URL or your website address there for people to find more information about you so start commenting, I’m submit to web directories and this isn’t just any Web directory, you need to research those web directories and make sure they are.
They have a good presence. The google trust them. If you just go willy-nilly and submit your pay, somebody to submit your website to 5,000 directories that can hurt you much more than it could help. You so only submit your website to web directories that are valid and that are useful. Okay. So we’re going to look at some examples, real quick and if you have any questions by the way, go ahead and type them into the questions area and I’ll answer them when we’re all done here so home care agency.
So I did a google search and i’m sitting in st. Louis missouri I just put in home care los angeles’ and after the paid results which are way at the top. Then you have your map and then you have upset doesn’t help, and then you have your top four right here. One two, three four: these are your top for organic results, so home instead is number one 24-hour home care’s number two home home read. Caregivers is number three and mom.
Some cares number four. So this is a good mix, because here we have a huge franchise and website, and then we have a medium-sized franchise website and kind of a big website franchise website. And then we have a one-off, and that means an independent person who is not part of a franchise. So that’s good to see so we’re going to look at each of these and talk about them. So if we were to look at home instead calm and look at how many backlinks they have now, this is for their entire network.
This isn’t just for that page or that one franchise location, because home instead has such a gigantic website, and they have so many franchise owners, and they have worked extremely hard on this, and I will tell you they even have their own websites that ranked really high. That are not that you would not know are owned by home instead, so they worked a lot on this. So this is a huge franchise. They have 31.
8 thousand web total backlinks, they have 1000 or 1.4 thousand referring domains. That means other websites referring back to them and they have one point one thousand referring IP addresses. So that means that their backlinks are not all clumped in one place or on one website. They are all over the place, and this is a fabulous representation. So, and you can see over on the right hand, side how how many backlinks they have four different kinds of websites, so they have 24 edge new website backlinks.
They have 65 net 65 CA, which is canada, 290 org and 898 domains that are calm. They also have some gov here so export gov is, I don’t know what that’s about, but that has they have two backlinks on that site and that’s pretty huge and the domain score for these. Are they have also dimas org? So these two are extremely high, ranked in the eyes of google and they have backlinks on them. So this is one of those things where you could hire a full-time person to do nothing but get you back lling.
You could hire them to do it for a month and then you can have higher them back like once, every six months to do it for you and update that. That is what the kind of that’s the kind of work it takes. This is a huge amount of work, so we don’t expect you to be a home instead, though, because you don’t have time for that and they have an entire staff dedicated to that. So, let’s go to the next one.
This is 24-hour cares now. I think there are small franchise they’re, not a huge, huge franchise, maybe middle of the road – and I know I’ve met them before, but haven’t done a huge amount of research. They are also on the first page of Google and they are number two on that list of home care Los Angeles and they only have 268 backlinks 56 referring domains and 63 IP addresses. So that is a good mix.
But what you can’t see here and what’s important to know is that these 268 backlinks on some pretty good websites, so our arch respite org has a high domain score, so they worked pretty hard on getting some really good backlinks. So this is a smaller franchise and they have done some good work and of course they have an office right in Los Angeles, so that helps to proximity but and they’ve been around a long time and they have good content on their website.
So that really helps so they’ve done a good job with their backlinking strategy. Even though it’s much smaller home read caregivers, they are another large franchise, maybe not as large as home instead, but definitely on the one long lines of a big franchised um and they have five point. Eight thousand website total backlinks to home, read caregivers, calm, 334, referring domains and 332 referring IP.
So they have also worked hard on this and there was a time when they hadn’t worked hard on some of the stuff and and they were having a hard time getting to the first page of google. But I can see that they’ve done a lot of work. So – and you can see here too, they have five point: six thousand of those backlinks are follow, links and only 154 are nofollow links, so this is a really good place to be, and of course they can do better, but it’s like I said it’s a lot Of hard work, so this is the independent home care agency that you saw there.
This is this fourth, the fourth person on the first page of google and they have a total of 171 backlinks 16 referring domains and 13 referring IPS, which is a good number and 171 total backlinks doesn’t sound too high, but they probably have some good backlinks they’ve. Definitely worked on a little bit, but I took a look at their website. It is a wordpress website and they do have a lot of good content on it.
So there’s other things that matter besides backlinks, but I can tell you that they’ve worked on this a bit, so content is really another key to this. So this just kind of gives you an idea from a smaller mom and pop shop. That’s not a franchise! All the way up to a huge franchise, the kind of work that they put in on backlinking. So let’s talk about other SEO factors and be sure to type your questions in and I will take them at the end here.
Other SEO factors are quality, unique content or blog posting every single week without fail, you can do it more than one time per week, syndicating your content. That means – and this is what we do for our clients – we provide them with that that quality unique content every week, and then we syndicate that content for them, meaning we send that content out it just doesn’t see on their blog. It can’t stay there.
It has to go out to Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Pinterest Google+, if possible and there’s all kinds of places it needs to go so syndicating. Your content is important, get it out there, so your local community will find it. Social media engagement is important. So if someone sees your article on Facebook and then click on it and they go back to your website, Google sees that as engagement. If they like your article, if they you know, comment on your article, all these things are engagement, engagement from your e-newsletter.
So if you are our client – and you know that you have in monthly newsletter that goes out – that newsletter in and of itself is a little web site address. So you want to make sure that people are not only do you have a good amount of context to send that newsletter to, but that they are all. You can see that they’re clicking on different articles they’re scrolling through their finding a title they want to read.
They click on it. They’re sent right back to your website and that’s really important site structure is also important if your site is screwed up on the back end or it’s too hard for google to read, or it’s just breaking the rules somehow or it just doesn’t work right. The google is not going to like that, google specific tags and HTML markups. This is all geek speek, but on the backend of your website you should have all the structural pieces intact to make sure google knows exactly what it’s looking at it’s reading and and then it will give your website more prevalence if it can read it easily.
Seo of the static pages of your website so search engine, optimization means making sure the keyword phrases are there. Your location and Google knows where you are and what you do so the static pages of your website are pages like the about Us page in our services. Page those pages – don’t change very much at all. So it’s important that you have good search engine optimization of those pages. Your blog posts are not static.
Pages they’re added all the time, but your static pages are the ones that just don’t change very often and then getting rid of bad SEO practices. So if you were to look back at the history of your website, your URL, your website address, and you can see all the backlinks that it’s ever had. If you wanted to. You, can find a place on Google to do that. And if you know that someone in the past has really run amok with their SEO practices and they practiced on you, maybe – and they have looked at backlinks and bought them for you and dental kinds of stuff.
They could be even now today, even if they didn’t two years ago or three years ago, they could be jeopardizing the situation for your website. So those are the kinds of things that you want to take a look at. They may not even exist, their companies may not even be in business or they may be. A single person who you know just was doing it on the side and bad SEO. Practices are going to hurt you for years to come, so you need to make sure you get rid of bad backlinks and anything else that might be on your website.
So my final piece of advice is this: when it comes to SEO there are no shortcuts. No shortcuts at all, there is no way that you can go from zero to first page without a lot of hard work. Quality content optimized by a knowledgeable company wins every time. So when you are hiring someone to help you with your website, if you are not a franchise owner and you’re, an independent person who has to make all of these decisions, your local SEO guy, just because he belongs to the Chamber of Commerce, doesn’t mean you right Fit for a home care agency, please be careful and make sure you hire folks that know the home care industry and know what’s going on, so I have a couple of questions number one.
How do you know? Google trust certain web directories? What I do is I look for reputable web directories that have lots of. I can tell by running some of the tests on the back end of our 4 sem rush and some of the other things I can tell which ones are trusted web directories and which ones are not, in other words, if they show up readily on the internet. They’re, probably pretty good if they are ones that someone says that they’ll they’ll get you a thousand web directory backlinks.
I wouldn’t trust that at all, if I don’t know which ones they are, but I can also send out a list of web a reputable web directories when I send out the recording so i’ll put a link to a list on with the recording. Is it necessary to pay google ads to get on the first page? No, it’s not you’re, probably on the first page of google for a lot of things. You do not have to pay. Google, organic results and paid results do not mix, so you can pay and use Adwords we have, but it has no bearing on your organic search.
So just because you have AdWords doesn’t mean you’re also going to be on the first page. Naturally, and if you don’t have AdWords, you certainly can be on the first page. Naturally the to do not mix a Google would be in huge trouble for that, so they do not mix at all. So, yes, you can be on the first page of Google without running Google Adwords, and if, if I were to give advice on AdWords, I would tell you this for google adwords.
This is for the home care industry only and no one else is going to tell you this, because of course they want you to run google adwords and spend tons of money. So here is what i’m going to tell you. This is home. Care agency only doesn’t apply to roofers or plumbers or lawyers, or anybody who sells t-shirts. This is for home care online. Google AdWords is not necessarily a good fit for home care, no matter what way you slice it.
It is not a good fit and the reason I say that is because we’ve tried it a thousand times over with many different organizations with many different experts. We have investigated it: we’ve sunk, our own money into learning whether or not this is viable – and it’s not in here is the rationale for that. If you have a thousand dollars a month to spend on google adwords, it’s the 8020 rule for home care, eight hundred dollars of that one thousand dollars will be spent on people clicking on your ads, who are looking for employment, two hundred dollars of that one thousand Dollars is going to be spent by people who really do need help perhaps, but there, as you all know, sometimes leaves don’t close overnight.
There are people who are in crisis and need help right now, and there are people who know it’s coming and they search for six months until the crisis hits or they sit on it. So there are two hundred dollars of money. That’s each month of your thousand they’ll actually be allocated to people who actually need care, because your employment seekers, no matter how you spin it no matter what negative keywords you put in no matter what you do, eight hundred dollars of that typically is going to go Toward employment seekers, if you can afford that budget, you can afford that 8020 rule by all means, I would say, use AdWords if you’d like, but and if you scale it down.
Let’s say you only have a three hundred dollar-a-month budget for Adwords you’re talking about ten dollars a day and one click can sometimes cost five dollars, you’re getting two clicks a day, and so, typically speaking, the percentages get even worse. The smaller your budget is so. If you at three hundred dollars a day, you may have, you know five clicks that are really people seeking care and the other cliques are all going to employment seekers.
So AdWords is not necessarily a good fit for home care, and that’s just my opinion. Maybe a really dumb question, but if you comment on a form of another site, could you leave your facebook link instead of your url? Yes, you can leave your facebook link, but you really should use leave. You don’t want to give Facebook any extra credit. You want to give your website extra credit, so I’m not sure why you would want to leave your facebook URL, because you should have a valid website and you should want to drive traffic to your website not to facebook.
Facebook has all the traffic it needs. Your website is the place where people are going to interact with you, they’re, going to pick up the phone and call you or they’re going to fill out a form. So that’s where you want to send people all the time. Okay, I think that’s our last question. So I am going to wrap this up and I appreciate everybody being on the call. If you have any questions, you can call us at 888, 404, 15, 13 and Georgia, or I will call you back if your current client, you can use the support desk.
You know how to do that, and I appreciate you all being on the call today and we’ll talk again next month. Thanks everybody, bye, bye,
Back out again with another article and the like, looks kind of crazy right now, but don’t mind that we’re in the Sunnyside Florida right now and I wanted to go Ahead and shoot a article on what I wish I knew before I started a Philly of marketing to basically maybe help you avoid some pitfalls and some embarrassment and losing some money and all that extra stressful bullcrap that you run into when you first start.
I’r affiliate marketing and just business in general, but before we get into the good stuff, if this is your first time coming across my blog, my name is Eric Ellis jr, I’m a certain digital entrepreneur and I teach people how to crush it online right. So we like that to have stuff hit that subscribe, button hit, that notifications build and join the squad right, wolves, nation and, if you guys, are already an affiliate, marketing and you’re looking for a mentor, get access to my inner circle by clicking the first link in The description now, let’s get into the business now when I first got into affiliate marketing.
The first thing that actually drew me to the business model is that you didn’t need your own products right. You didn’t need to deal with customer system that, like e-commerce, you simply just promote people’s products. You get paid a commission right now when I first started ad the improper guidance right, I was doing it all wrong. What I used to do was I started off with in the biz op niche. What that means is business opportunities, promoting make money online opportunities and the way that I should do it right is.
I was trading my time for money right. So the first thing that I wish I knew is that you don’t want to trade your time for money right. You want to learn about automation, sales, funnels email, marketing, driving traffic on autopilot right, the wrong way to do it is when I first started, and it was so painful right. I was getting rejected, rejected rejected because I was like unboxing people and the DMS right sliding in the DM.
I was texting people in my contact and it was so embarrassing facing on that rejection and people saying what you’re doing is a scam and all those extra bullshit right. If I would have known about automation ahead of time, my life would be so much easier because I wouldn’t have to deal with the construction criticism. I would have to deal with people saying what I’m promoting it’s legitimate and all the negativity of those people who really don’t want to elevate in life right.
So that’s one thing that I highly recommend now another thing that I wish I knew what’s harder to use. My phone right now I’m just kidding, but is that believe it or not? You need a lot more traffic than you think and what I mean is: is you need people to see your offer? If people don’t see your offer, you’re not going to go ahead and get sales right now. There’s this misconception a whole bunch of people are each other.
They said. Look, I’m not getting results within my business. Well, ok, cool! How many people have seen your sales presentation? They’re, like yeah, I showed a few people. I showed a few people guys the average a really good sales presentation converts anywhere from 1 to 3 percent. Alright, let’s break that down 1 to 3 percent of a hundred clicks is 1 to 3 cells. That’s not even talking about the front end of your your funnel meaning, if you put like a landing page and I’m not trying to speak jargon if you’re, if you’re a complete beginner.
But basically, what I’m saying is you need a shitload of visitors to actually generate a realistic income right now. Here’s the thing if the product that you’re selling is a thirty thirty dollar Commission right. If it’s a thirty dollar Commission and you’re getting one cell per day right that 100 clicks, one percent of that is literally thirty dollars per day. Now, let’s be honest here, an extra nine hundred dollars per month would do well for people, but it’s not going to go out and get you rich.
It’s not going to be able to allow you to quit your job right. It’s not going to be able to do that so realistically, you need anywhere from three the 500 clicks per day to generate a realistic income right. So I didn’t know that right and that’s basically something that you want to take them to think in a consideration when you get an affiliate marketing, you you’re going to need traffic right now.
Another thing is before or when I got into affiliate marketing what I wish. I knew is you’re going to lose money right and I was so afraid to do paid ads, because every time I did paid advertisement right, my my ads just, would it make it right out? I wouldn’t succeed, so I was like dang. This is I’m wasting money and guys it takes money to make money right. You don’t learn something unless you fell over and over again, so get that out of your head you’re going to fail, you’re going to lose money right.
It comes with the territory, but eventually you will succeed right. It only takes one successful ad to make you a bunch of money right, because that ads going to make you commissions, you reinvest that those commissions into that same ad and so on and so forth. Right now, another thing that I wish I knew before getting into affiliate marketing is with paid advertisement. You need to split test. You need to optimize right, I used to think it takes one lucky and right I’ll put one ad up and then I’m going to go ahead and be rich.
That is not how it works. You need to put up multiple ads right. You need a split test. I don’t know what the heck split testing even meant right. You need to split test everything right, not even just your ads, but even your sales process right, so you need to always be split, testing and optimizing and improving, because that’s the only way that you’re going to be profitable right is if you’re, testing, testing testing and That’s why a lot of people fell because they don’t test right.
Another thing that I wish I knew before getting into affiliate marketing is that you should always be promoting something with backing up sales now. What does that mean if your initial product, that you’re promoting is a $ 30 cell right after a person purchases that product there should be an additional offer and after they purchased that product there should be another additional? You should always be upselling right.
You know they say in sales. Abc always be closing, I believe in affiliate marketing or just digital marketing. There should always be additional upsell now. Why is that important right? What is enough, so an upsell is simply when somebody makes a purchase and after they purchase up their denial of product they’re offered an additional product that is congruent with that offer. That’s going to from the advertisement perspective, it’s going to increase your overall earnings per customer.
Now, why is that person or excuse me? Why is that important if I’m selling something for only $ 30 or if I’m selling something with an initial sell point at $ 30, but then it starts upselling people right. It’s going to increase my overall earnings per customer. My average earning four customers called LTV lifetime value, so if I’m selling something for $ 30 and something with all its upsells, the average I might be getting for this may be literally $ 90 right.
It’s going to increase what I’m earning for a customer which is important for paid advertisement if you’re selling a product that sells really well, it converts really well, but there’s no upsells right. How are you going to go to make money with your paid advertise? You have to really really really get good at paid advertisement if you’re just getting into it for their marketing. That’s most likely, not the case, so it gives you more room for error.
The more you’re going to make per customer right and another thing that we’re signing before getting into affiliate marketing is stop being so fucking cheap right, I was so super cheap. I don’t want to invest into myself and if I could have done this all over again, I would have invested in the paid courses much sooner right, meaning when you invest them to yourself. You’re literally buying this person’s mistake, so that what do I mean by that somebody who has already been in the game for a long period of time, they’re going to, let me show you look, this is how you do it correctly.
This is what you need to avoid. I’ve made all this money in this industry right instead of going through your own collinear, go through mine right, it’s like having a basketball coach. Somebody says you know what I’ve been playing basketball for 10 years. This is the right way to do it right, avoid all those mistakes that Britt used to my last thing right. One thing that I wish I knew before getting into affiliate marketing is that you need a mentor now, it’s not guaranteed, because not everybody has that a mentor.
Obviously, some people, the the the people who started out, never had mentorship, but that’s doing it today guys what happens is when you don’t have mentorship it’s going to go ahead and take you way long to succeed. Time is money, especially within this business. If you could literally invest $ 500 right, hypothetic invest $ 500, but that gives you the skillset and the mindset to save you, thousands of dollars in paid advertisement of mistakes and to expedite your success process to where you’re going to be successful.
Much quicker right. Wouldn’t it be a benefit for you to where, if you’re, making five thousand ten thousand twenty thousand dollars per month, what does it work that initial investment, if it got you to that dream income level, much quicker I’d, say so right. So if you guys looking for a mentor, as stated in the earlier part of this portion of the article, is first thing the description you ask get access to my inner circle to where I literally help on live coaching calls with you guys.

That’s pretty incredible! Ready, Born, ready, Welcome to The Journey Today. We’re talking about E-Mail marketing best practices to grow your business, All right, fun fact Nealey! This might surprise you, 86 % of consumers actually want an e-mail from you once a month. That’s pretty incredible, But that’s getting ahead of ourselves.
How do we really build that contact list and that subscriber list Right contact list? So there’s a couple: Of things to point out, First of all, Yes, you Do want their permission, So a couple common ways Start with a form fill out a form. Maybe it’s on your website. I know we have that with GoDaddy. True I’ve seen a lot of those Yeah somewhere on your website like if you want to Subscribe to our newsletter or be the first to know, what’s happening, You can sign up and they opt-in.
Another way is to, of course, promote across your social Media platforms as well, You wan na stay in tune, subscribe here And really, I think, about call to action. Okay, What can you do? One that definitely reeled me in recently was a local pizza shop in San Diego, where I live As they do ( laughter ) And they basically were promoting that “. Hey sign up for our Newsletter and on your birthday “, you get a special deal.
”. What’s that special deal, Free slice of pizza, duh, Nice, (, laughs, ), I’m all about that. I prefer the whole pie but…, So you can do kind of The same thing right Like you, build your list: You have your service, your products, You can give either a discount or your own version of A free slice of pizza To kind of like sum this all up, is you’re giving value of Some sort to your audience In exchange for charging for it they’re giving you their e-mail, That’s basically the cost.
If you will So the more value you Bring to your audience the easier and more Willing they’re going to be to give you their e-mail so that they can get you On that contact list Exactly Now, what do we do about creating the actual e-mails themselves? Yes, the content Right, So you know what Why don’t just show an Example of a business crushing it with content on their e-mails. Let’s go All right, All right Nealey, So I thought it made.
Sense, after going through all these best practices, With e-mail marketing to actually pull up an example, So I was looking at this. Well actually, my whole inbox, (, laughs, ) And I was like which subject lines are Grabbing my attention: Okay, This is a e-mail from Canva and the subject line was “ People, heart,”, so use emoji, “ Quotes” period. So with this just to Go through an example, what I love about this Canva e-mail and it caught both of Our eyes is the banner And look how clean it is.
“ Inspire your followers.”, It’s crisp, it’s cool And then also I love The little call to action in the top right says: “ Weekly newsletter, Learn and be inspired,.”, Just kind of subtle call to action, right, [, Nealey, ], Yeah, [, Emma ] To sign up And then, as you, scroll down notice that there’s not a ton of text and it’s again very visual, And so they have these bullet points Of what they’re trying to get across for to get people excited about the tips? “ Be a force for change.
,” “ Use a positive metaphor:,” and “ Make it visually stand out.”. So this e-mail is educational, [, Nealey, ], Absolutely And right below it. A Giant call to action: Why is that super Important in our e-mails, It’s super important because You want to think about: what’s the purpose of your E-Mail in the first place, What are you giving your audience And if you’re going to Provide a call to action like Justin just pointed out, it’s a very clear big Button “ Give it a go.
” And then, in addition, they Have these awesome templates So they have some for Facebook. Posts Instagram posts and essentially, when you click on it, then let’s say you went To the Instagram post, one From there they’re going to Give you a template to apply Canva for your business in an Instagram post. Also, Instagram story helps. So you see it’s very, very cool It pops. It’s not a ton of verbiage,’cause! That’s when you’re Going to lose the reader Yeah, We don’t like to read just A giant block of text, It’s really cool to see.
It just sectioned off bullet points, nice and easy, nice and small to read and a lot of just visual Elements to keep my eyes engaged Absolutely And then you’ll notice too. On the bottom of their e-mail, they have their social media links, So they have Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest and Linkedin. So this is a great opportunity right. If I’m opening your E-Mail and I’m a customer or potential customer I wan na go and check You out on other sites Make it easy for me to do that.
So e-mail newsletters are Great to cross-promote, [, Nealey, ], Absolutely Ooo, also Nealey. Another thing I know you’re familiar with this, but you’ll notice above the social links. What do we have here? A giant? Well, not so giant It’s pretty little, But it’s an unsubscribe button, but there’s a giant meaning behind it. So the Canned Spam Act says that every e-mail marketing Newsletter you send out has to have two things at the very least, An unsubscribe button and a location.
Now I know some of your Are just solo-preneurs or your home business is at home right, So you can put PO boxes here, but it does have to be A legitimate address that you can receive mail to.’Cause if you don’t follow these you’re, essentially becoming Spam and we don’t want this’cause, we know you’re A legitimate business All right Emma That was an awesome demo. I hope it really helped you with creating your own e-mail Newsletter campaigns So now you’ve got the subscriber list.
We’ve got the content. How do we know it’s working Great question? So definitely wan na look At unsubscribes right, That’s probably an obvious, And this is something you Want to keep an eye on.’Cause, it’s going to inform You that maybe your audience isn’t exactly as organic as you thought, and you need to continue building it And also maybe reconsider the content which we’ve just spent A lot of time covering what makes great content Also looking at open rates.
I know we do this a lot. On the marketing team, when we’re putting out E-Books and webinar invites Check it out, you know, Are they opening the e-mails And then, if they are in Fact, opening the e-mails are they actually clicking. On your call to actions Your links And I would encourage You not to be discouraged about the open rates Because with e-mail, it’s not Going to be a 90 %, 100 %, 80 % Open rates are going to be Pretty low but that’s okay, You’ll get! I don’t Know anywhere from like 10-to-20 is about Average percentage-wise That’s right, But even if they’re Not opening your e-mails, they’re still seeing your headline and they’re still seeing your business, which increases that brand awareness which your top of mind All right Emma.
So what are some other best practices? You can give the audience here on just really killing it. With their e-mail game, Yeah list maintenance So about every six months, go in pay attention to look who’s. Opening your E-Mails who hasn’t been, And the ones who aren’t Opening your e-mails isolate that list and let It chill for a little while ( laughs, ) And then remind them Down the road like hey and see, if they’re interested Gauge, it again feel that out, But definitely do that.
Every six months, Yeah And most e-mail providers that you use for your marketing campaigns. You can set up groups, so you Can easily move them into a haven’t heard from me group or a hot leads group Or a cold leads group or, however, makes sense to Really organize your listing so that way you can kill the game. All right, that’s a wrap! You just learned e-mail Marketing best practices to help grow your business And hey comment below Your best subject line for the world to know And while you’re there make sure you, like Subscribe to the blog, so you know when these Articles are coming out.
Google has a leg up. People are constantly telling Google what they’re. Looking for the rest of us have to interpret the signals, why do we do it? Because people are expecting more and more from their online experience more and more from the stores they shop more and more from the brands they engage and in order to put the right message in front of the right person at the right time.
There are three parts to digital: analytics: first collect the data: it can come from a visit to your own site, your own CRM system, a social media site, a data aggregator, an ad network. Second create a profile. Third predict what each person might want. Next. This is using data to make marketing decisions. It’s quite a challenge. We must remember that nothing beats a great design and nothing beats a great creative ad.
But the data helps us identify the right people and the right time and even the right message and we make the whole internet experience better for research for shopping for buying and for just communicating digital analytics. It’s for optimizing, the relationship between companies and customers. You
