Buffer Review (Social Media Management Tool)

What exactly is that social media management is a tool that you use to schedule your posts on your social media profiles ahead of time, one of the things when you start at your new business. You have this list of all these things that you need to do. There’s this, I always say, there’s all these pieces of a puzzle and you need to put them together and every person needs to figure out what works best for them like.

How am I going to schedule my time, one of the things when you’re scheduling, instead of looking at every day, I need to do ABCD and E to start looking at chunking your time. So once you understand what those puzzle pieces are, then you can start chunking that information you’re not really going to know all of that in the beginning, and just all you just keep learning all those pieces if that makes sense, but one of the things you’re doing Is posting whether you’re posting making YouTube articles because you want to promote your business with search engine, optimization or you’re? Doing your business using social media? There’s two different kinds of marketing: this buffer is for people, that market went social media, so you’re marketing on Facebook or Instagram Twitter.

Those different things that you’re looking for engagement, okay and maybe you’re bored, maybe you’re posting ads or things like that. So buffer is a system where you can go in and schedule ahead of time, so I’m going to Chuck my posting, so I might take one day every month and let’s say I want to post four times a week in my Facebook on my Facebook. Maybe I want to post five times on Instagram or daily or whatever it is.

You can go in and post for the entire month and just sit there in one day and knock it out. Now you might say: well that’s a lot. That’s like nine post day! Well, you can use the same post for your Facebook as you do Instagram, and that’s what you’re going to see what’s really cool about buffer, you can kind of go to different platforms in one one push of a button and that’s what I love about this one.

All right, so, let’s look at some. The first thing I want to jump into. I know everybody first thing they want to know is well how much does it cost, because, especially when you’re new you’re, always pinching, pen and you’re, always looking for that way to make money online and not spend any money? But I want to tell you – and we all fought that way in the beginning and then the more you dig in you find out.

Yes, you do have to spend money who need certain tools for your business and that’s why I wanted to do this series on different social media platforms or tools, because I want you to really research and pick the one that’s best for you and they’re all different. So I’m not doing a tutorial, we’re not going in and I’m not showing you how to use it, because every single tool, every single one of these platforms, that I’ve been sharing they go in and they’ll, give you a tutorial and teach you how to do it And most of them give you a 30-day free trial or two week free trial, so you can go in and and do it for free.

I do have a playlist that I am creating. The link is below where I have all of these different social media tools, management tools that I’ve been reviewing they’re all there. So if you like, what you see – and you want to look at other ones – then hit the playlist link below, doesn’t cost you anything just go down there and look and see what else is out there and again I don’t have everything on the planet down there.

I’r just building this and as I find them, I’m offering them to you, so you can see which one’s best for you, because I think understanding and getting the one that’s best, for you is the most important thing in your business without going out and wasting a Lot of money, so this one here when I went to look at the pricing it there is a free account, but I want you to look at right away. Everyone says: oh, it’s a free account.

I’r going to take that before you even do any research. I want you to decide how many platforms, how many of my platforms do. I want to schedule my posts on and then what does my schedule look like, and I want you to do that before you even start digging into these okay, and this is why look at here it says: pricing, free, okay, so it’s free for free who doesn’t Like free, but one, you can only be on three social accounts.

Now you might say. Well, you know what I’m only on two, so that works. Excellent three is not bad, that’s not even a negative, but another thing. It says one user, that’s fine to your one-man, show right now. You don’t really have anybody that you’re hiring. This, isn’t your business where you’re out posting for other people, one is perf. This is the thing you need to look at. You can only schedule 10 posts.

A month, that’s not going to do you any good, you might as well be scheduling daily because you’re going to be getting on there every other day scheduling those 9 posts that we just talked about. So I personally, if you have that information laid out, I think the pro account looks better, because here you can go on to 8 different social accounts and again you may not have a let’s stick with the two.

But if you go down, you can schedule a hundred posts, so you probably could schedule six weeks out if you’re doing nine posts a day four on Facebook, five on Instagram, you could schedule out and not add six weeks and get that knocked down. So, look at that. You want the tool to help you, you don’t want it to become frustrating and one more thing that you have to read. So what you do is you post out for six months and then put on your calendar? Okay, I need to do this again.

Another chunk of time this day, I’m going to dedicate to it six weeks from now, and that’s all I’m going to do all days, get my posts on there now something that buffer does. That, I think, is another big big plus is they are known for their queue and you’re like well? What does that mean? They have a queue where you can keep all of your posts and you can recycle them again, so that is a plus some of these social media platforms do not allow you to do that.

There’s some different. You know situations so you got to read for that kind of stuff, but this one does you’re able to do that. Now. Here’s a picture. I told you, it was like a button that you just hit. Well, you could say: look I’m on Facebook and Twitter and LinkedIn, and I want to post this one thing on the all three account. So you make your posts down here and then you go. Okay, click! Click! Click! I want to put it on all three of them and then down at the bottom.

You schedule it on this certain day. Now, typically, if most of your followers probably aren’t on all of your accounts, but if you’re somebody that maybe a lot of your followers are, then that might not be something that you want to do is post the same thing. Three times you got ta, you know pay attention to your audience, but a lot of people tell me you know what I don’t have the same people following me on Twitter as I do Instagram it’s two different groups of people, and so, if that’s true, then just Click it and put the same post, but look how easy that is, and then it goes into a queue like a list where it saves it, and you can go back in and recycle it now.

You might say. Well how often should I recycle my posts? I from what I’ve read you want to take recycle every two to three months. So if you have three months worth the posts, just go back in and recycle them again, and maybe you can mix them up and maybe add some new stuff. So this isn’t something you’re going to constantly be doing so then, when you go back to that chunk of time where you say today is posting scheduling day, it gets easier and easier because you’re just adding in some fresh information and recycle information and recycling, some old Information, so that’s where this online business stuff starts to get easier, because a lot of the foundational work that you have to do is in place and ready for you to keep using it.

So I just wanted to give you that one little tip all right. Here’s an example of how you schedule you can go in and say these are the exact times that I want to schedule and on the exact days, and you can go in there and change it up like I said you might look at your analytics and it Might say you know nobody is looking at your stuff on Sundays, nobody’s even clicking it. Well, maybe you won’t post on Sunday after that, or maybe only post once that day, just to keep your posts going and fresh.

So those are things to look at now. I’r going to show you the pros and the cons and remember I have been going over some other already. So let’s talk about the pros and the cons of using buffer a pro, it’s very easy and simple to follow. Once you go in there, you can use that free account and, like I said, if you’re serious, you already know, you’ve gone in and used the trial account. You know this is what you want.

I highly recommend you move up to that that next account for $ 15 a month and it’s very good with scheduling. You can do it throughout the week and you can adjust each schedule for every day. So you don’t have to go in and say and every single day I’m doing the same thing. You can change it up here and there and it has very limited analytics but it’ll be enough. Remember buffer is not a one-stop shop like sprout social sprout where sprout social, sprout social is a one-stop shop and it does everything it gives you like who’s following you, what kind of engagement I mean it really goes into detail if you’re only looking for a place To post to get that one job chunked and you know off your plate every day, then this would be a good, simple format.

So you have to think about your needs. Another nice thing you can use different extensions that will make buffering even easier chrome has different extensions that help with some of these social media platforms and buffer allows you to use those extensions. Now I added a few other things. Some of the social media like which one was it HootSuite, does not allow you to use shortened links for your posts.

Sometimes people like to use a shortened link and then they like to track it on their own, maybe through pretty links or something like that off their website. And again, if you don’t know about all that, but if you’re into tracking this one will allow you to use outside shortened link programs where HootSuite will not allow you, they want everything to stay internal. So if that’s important to you, that’s a plus, it does have a queue where at list Q means list where you can keep all of your posts.

So you can recycle. So that’s a plus, and you can also go in and repost or retweet Twitter as retweets is like a repost. You can do that on Twitter as well as of today on here now. There could be more features that are at it beyond what I’m talking about today, but those are some things in a nutshell. Now, let’s go down to the cons, the analytics are very simple and that to me it’s not really a negative, but if you’re really looking for some in-depth analytical stuff, then this program is probably not for you again and I just talked to just said it a Moment ago, it’s not like an all-encompassing one-stop shop for all your social media stuff, it’s think of it think of buffer more as a scheduler to save me, the time and hassle that I don’t have to go into every Platt form every morning and do all my Scheduling for the day, I can do it at the beginning of the month and knock it out for all my platforms and then just do it one once a month and chunk it.

Okay, so there’s buffer down below, like I said, I have a link for a playlist. I have a link to goes to buffer. I do not have an affiliate account to that. I’r just trying to give you some help. You with your research. There is a guide to earning income online down there if you’re, if you’re, looking at this and you’re like wow, I don’t even have a business online, never thought about that, but I’d love to post all over the place.

Well, you can. This is something a tool you would use for your business to help you there. So god, you know, there’s a free guide there to give you some information and, of course, subscribe subscribe to my blog I post every day, and I want to thank you for making it this far and reading the article. I hope it was helpful. Give me thumbs up if it was or comment. If you have any questions, if you have information, add I love when people read it, who might be an expert with buffer? I’r not an expert.

I just did some research to give to you, but if you are an expert, you have more information. Add by all means. Do it that does not bother me because again, I don’t know everything and I know a little bit of everything how’s that not a lot about one thing: alright, so there you go again. Thank you for reading and I’ll see you on the next article.

Top 3 tips to sell more cars with Social Media (Automotive Marketing Hacks)

The automotive conference for automotive professionals that want to build more be more, do more we’re about to hop over to the roundtable sessions where I’m going to be sitting with 20 or 30 guys and going off for about 20 minutes on social media marketing.

How they can build their brand grow, their business, get more customers, build their social media presence and ultimately make more money. So I’m going to hop over to that now we’re going to have some clips of the different conversations, the lessons the things I was teaching. So, let’s check it out and join today we’re going to cover some fun stuff, so I’m going to keep it basic. I want to have you guys, get the opportunity to discuss stuff, so I’m going to throw things out there we’re going to go over the secret content formula? Okay.

So this is the basic understanding of like ever. Have that moment where you go, what should we be? Posting on social media, like I’m, trying to post up it’s not working, no one responds. Should I post my car, should I post my customers sure what do I actually post? Well, there’s a really simple formula that breaks it down to two categories: we’re going to cover that the other thing we’re going to do is a simple paid advertising strategy.

So I’m going to go through what we do. So I own a social media marketing agency. We work with top brands, including OEM Zak, Honda, Canada, Suzuki, Canada, some of the big guys, hundreds thousands of dealerships. We also work with other brands, not just automotive, but I’m going to teach you what we do with them. That can also be applied to a lot of small businesses that we work with, which is a very simple way to think about Facebook Ads.

It’s not complicated, it’s not crazy algorithms, and if you guys ever want to try advertising, you can use this method. Then I’m going to cover how to use Instagram and Facebook DM the way. I use it again, very, very simple, not just about outreach but there’s simple things that no one’s doing that really up your sales. We’re going to go over that, so we’re going to cover all three of those I’m going to start with the secret content formula.

You guys ready! Okay, what’s the biggest problem when you go to post content on social media, what do you guys post? I want to see some answers. What do you think is the right thing to be posted delivery photos what else yeah? What else yeah? What would you say, everything everything, hopefully not naked pictures, those those are private, what else anything else? Okay, how do you guys decide what to post? Is there any logic there, like anyone, have a theory or like why? Why do you post don’t post business every day like don’t, do delivery? Okay, okay, what I was, what doesn’t be heard rather, myths have.

We heard offers offers offers offers ok, ok, yeah yeah yeah, I’m familiar with GC what else yeah yeah, but when we read do you see what he does? Is he always making offers sort of? But how much do you see about entertainment, how much behind the scenes? How much with his wife, how much him having fun how much him! So here it’s right! So let me ask you this: what shows are most successful on TV? We see these either right the show it’s either massive education or information like shark tank, like it’s fun, you’re alert or it’s drama.

It’s entertainment, it’s the Kardashians. I don’t read the show, but a lot of people read keeping able to Kardashians right. Why? Here’s? What I’m eating here’s, who I’m mad at here’s, what my mom did: here’s, what my sister did and people tune into that shit because naturally we’re wired for two things: entertainment or education. So I want you guys to ask yourself next time, you’re going to post something ask yourself when you go on social media.

What are you there for there’s two reasons all you get to do. Is this ask yourself when you go on social media? What are you going for? Are you looking for promotion? Are you looking for a deal you’re on the toilet, you’re on the car you’re like in a socially awkward situation, you’re opening your phone? It’s like: how can I kill a minute there’s only two reasons you go to social media, everybody does this entertainment or education.

You want a quick laughs. You want a funny meme you want to, or you want to learn something. You see something very valuable. It’ll shit. That’s cool I’m going to try that that’s the only two reasons, but for some reason most people make content. Don’t think about that they’re doing promotion they’re doing what do they want to see? What do they like? What makes them look good, but no one else is going to see that so you’re putting out content that no one cares about, and that’s why the engagements not there does that make sense.

So what are some examples that I mean entertainment is make them laugh, make them cry make them feel something think of a TV show. Think of the Kardashians write Keeping Up with the Kardashians. Why do so many people used to read that show it’s just literally, my sister did this. My uncle did this I’m so mad at this person he was with my brother, it’s bullshit, but it’s entertainment right. So you got to think.

How do you tell stories? How do you get people to laugh? How do you get people to cry? Don’t just, for example, if you’re going to do a delivery, don’t say here’s John! He bought a second car with me. So happen happens a customer thanks. So much John tell the story. Who’s. John, you know see in Vietnam: did he come here? Have a four-hour Roadtrip like what’s with his family, which, with his wife, is his father? The president, like give the story behind John and what got him here and where he came from the more drama.

The better right, like John just left, his sixth wife and he’s got some money in the bank and he’s trying to get a new Corvette. I’r going to get him on the road pick up a seven like make it fun, make it real. That’s how you going to approach it at education. The way you approach education is people only really care about three things. Don’t want to learn three things and it’s called kind of like hard knowledge, which is either how to make more money right, how to look better or feel better or how to have more sex swear to God.

That’s the three easiest things that everyone wants to buy. So when you’re teaching, think of that, do they want to know like if you’re going to teach a certain feature of a car or a benefit or something you want to show them? How to do think about? Is it going to save them money? Is it going to make them look better or does it let them have more sex? It’s only made a joke laughs about a minivan like how many girls going to fit in the back like you’re, I’m saying stupid joke, but don’t do that one, but I’m saying make get creative with it right get creative with it.

So what can they do if it’s, if it’s value, this is a feature that you that we can do here’s how much money it’s going to save you, I’m going to show you something that you’re going to say five grand next year. By doing these three things, here’s what they are right, so hard value, hard knowledge, that’s the truth for men or women, it’s money, health or sex right. And if you look at the three biggest industries, what are they? That’s the three so bring that into your social media, marketing all right.

How many of you are using Facebook or Instagram ads right now, yeah one two, three, four: five Instagram ads K: five, six good: let’s bring a ratio. How are you doing it? Are you boosting your posts? What are you doing so you’re boosting guessing game? Yep? Okay, what were you just boosting she broke daily? Okay, got it? No okay, anybody else! I miss okay, yeah, so here’s my theory, 90 % of people when they run ads they go.

I have an offer I want to put in front of a group of people. Yes, it’s targeted yes, they’re, 40 year old, males that, like cats here, show them this car right. That’s called a cold audience. If they don’t know you yet or like you or trust you they’re a cold audience, I no matter what industry never show offers to cold audiences. I only make offers to warm audiences. They need to know me. First, we use a very particular strategy when you’re in advertising.

I’ve done in multiple industries from national brand car brands to local dealerships to Auto groups, and it works like this. Most people think of running an ad basically getting to offer the ad and targeting the audience they want to see that ad right. We don’t. We run first, what’s called awareness ads, so think of these as article ads. There are three to five minutes long. If it’s Instagram, it’s got to be 60 seconds for Facebook, three to five minutes.

It’s pure value, it’s either the entertainment or the education. We run those and optimize them for article views on Facebook. We get a view usually for one cent. One cent of view of a targeted local customer, then what we do is we get. Let’s say, a hundred thousand views in that content. It only cost us 900 bucks a thousand bucks. In most cases, then we retarget all those people with a low level offer.

So what I did for dealerships a lot was we’d give people gift cards to something like Starbucks to come in and just do a test drive, so they put their names or email their number and then the sales guy will call them say hey when you look At test drive, let’s go right and we bring them in. That would be our lead, offer it’s very low barrier, you’re, not asking for money I’ll give you money come in and do something for me and then the last step once we’ve done.

That is, then, we get hard offers. So this is the actual sale in the car. The deal we have running or the promotion coming up so at any one time you have article ads appear that are building rapport right. People are seeing your brand, your name they’re not being sold anything yet, but Facebook tracks that so on the next level, when I hit them with a lead. Gen ad, like I said, like the gift card, I can say only show this to people that have seen twenty five to fifty percent of the first article only show the people that actually suck through and know who I am and then I’m saying the last year.

Here’s an offer only show this to people who opted in for leads who gave us information already. So what you’re doing is you’re bringing your cost down reaching only a warm audience. You’re getting 100 leaves that don’t respond and you’re spending half the cost. So anytime we run this. The average has been we reach twice as many people twice as many leads twice as many sales half the cost half. So that means, if you spent a thousand dollars, you got a thousand leads I’d, spend five hundred and get two thousand leaves it’s a big difference right and the quality is so much warmer because no one’s seeing your offers until they know you right until they’re, ready Until they decide to stick their whole article and you don’t do one in the other, they all happen at the same time.

So constant customers are discovering you reading the articles they go to the bathroom. Come back. Oh, here’s a lead gen, I offer they come to the dealership next day and go back home, there’s an offer on a deal and it just happens in a circle so easier said than done. We talked about in the cations playing a bit, but that’s a strategy. We use so take away from this, because that was a lot advertised to warm traffic.

I know that was very fast but advertised to warm traffic whenever possible. This is a method of warming up traffic. You could also retarget people who, for example, engage with you on Instagram who have lost your articles on Facebook, who have been to your website who have left comments. Who, like your page, whose friends liked your page anytime, you can try to build custom audiences of people who already know you who’s using social media, direct messages, Facebook Instagram all that you yeah yeah, yeah? Okay, how are you guys using it right now? Tell me real quick: what do you do with it? Okay, automation, Chapa? Is it working well yeah, okay, good? What about you, yep, yep, yep yep? So so, and these guys are both massive bucket producers and that’s exactly going to tell you the easiest strategy.

You can do is every single time. Someone likes your post comments, follows you, every single person don’t just ignore and go. I got 20 likes message, every single person personally and telev a thanks. So much for, like. I really appreciate the love hey where you from where you coming from a guy might whatever. If they follow you. Thank you so much for following me. I really appreciate it. I gave you a follow back what you up to when they respond.

To that, send an audio note. Send the article note get more personal. You don’t wan na scare them away at the first touch, but once they make the decision to engage and start the conversation, it opens the door to say: hey, I’m comfortable I’ll, read your article! All! Isn’t your audio no right, because so many people there’s this creepy. Ask people out there right, like if people get an unsuspected article they’re like I’m, not opening that shit right right, especially the girls man, to get her ass with this stuff, like it’s too early, my girlfriend all the time like unread message, like friend, requests from someone And like Somalia and you open it’s a dick pic like and now Instagram warns you of that.

So don’t start with that start with text it’s safe. It brings the barrier down and then, when they decide they’re comfortable article and audio, because that’s where you going to build the bond right cool any questions on that sorry, one specific person for that article, yeah yeah, wait. What do you mean like when you do your irrigation with ablution? Oh, that that’s where, like the app? Yes, I’m so there’s advertising before I’m talking about one offs, one offs a message right to that person yeah so like if you reach out and go well, so it first returned with text and let’s say you say: hey we’re waiting from a brighten, my page or Like I really appreciate the love and then go hey, no problem, I’m from whatever whatever then send them back a article or an audio hey.

That’s super cool, my mom’s from there I’m not going to say make up report, but sometimes it helps if you have to ethically, but if you can, if you can build a bond or report us on in article, but I holy shit like this guy is my Dude right and start the conversation and then see if you can take it from there to a phone call or an appointment, get it off the platform as quickly as possible and bring them in whatever it is like hey, I see five that car for the last Seven years, how much I sell you know them but come in.

We just got this. I know you’re going to like you just drive it. Man like we’re talking with friends, come and check it out, I’m not selling, nothing just come in. Let’s hang out, let’s show you all right, bring them in so you’re trying to go from like engagement, to open a conversation to build rapport and get them off the platform as quickly as possible. Right

The 4 Parts To Social Media Marketing

Welcome to the we are slam show where we share marketing agency, insights, best practices and ideas to help your business grow. My name is tyler kelly, i’m the co-founder and chief strategist right here at slam agency we’re a small but mighty full-service marketing agency that helps marketing directors, like you execute on your vision, execute on your strategy, just think of us, as the outsourced marketing department, with a Specialty really in digital marketing, and today I want to talk to you about social media now a lot of times when we think about social media.

We just think about the Big Five Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn, but here’s the thing social media is so much bigger than that and as a marketing director, you really have to understand how big it is so that you can take full advantage of every aspect Of social media, okay, so social media is composed of four equally important parts. These are social, listening, social influencing social networking and social selling, and in this article I’m going to go through each one.

Social media allows us to social, listen, ok, social listening is tuning in to the needs and to the wants of our customers and social media gives us the platforms, the tools that we need in order to do this more effectively in the olden days we used to Do focus groups we used to do polling and all these types of things, but, as we know, these things aren’t really as effective as they used to be polls used to be the gold standard for determining elections.

Well, now polls aren’t written worth their paper that they’re written on right and focus groups used to be. You know the thing it used to be like: let’s go in, let’s talk with some people, that’s asking questions, but the dirty little secret. Is this people? Don’t tell you what is truly on their mind in a focus group situation. They tell you what they think you want to hear. We’ve known this as marketers for many years, there’s been a lot of studies, a lot of research that say for focus groups, just don’t give you the real information.

So how can you get the wrong information? Well, social listening is the way to do that. So how do you do it? Well, you figure out where your customers were your prospects, where your potential customers are okay online, whether it be Facebook groups, LinkedIn figure out where these conversations are happening, whether it be a forum or you know, on a blog comments. These types of things, wherever it is figure it out and then begin to listen, hashtag following on Instagram on Twitter.

This might give you some insight into what types of things your customers are talking about, and this is where, if you’re doing you’re listening right, you can really begin to tap into what their pain points are. What they’re psyched, what the psychographics are like, what their attitudes interests and opinions are, and this will give you insight as a marketing director into how to approach them through advertising and marketing real quick, a few of my favorite tools for listening in social media, an oldie But goodie HootSuite really great way to set up what you want to pay attention to and then go back to that daily and kind of see.

What’s new, what’s happening, HootSuite is an oldie but goodie a few others that I, like I like mention. I, like Agora, pulse and I like brand, read now the second part of social media that you need to be aware of and know how to tap into is social influencing. Now, when you think of social influencing, I want you to think really about influencer marketing. Okay, influencer marketing is something that has come on the scene.

You know in a big way the last couple years and there’s some really good uses of influencer marketing. There’s some really horrible examples of influencer marketing as well. Now, here’s the thing: if you go: google, influencer marketing or social influencing what you’re going to find is you’re, going to find lots of blogs lots of lots of articles that are all about how wonderful influencer marketing is, but for the majority of people reading this article, It’s probably not going to work for you.

Here’s the thing there’s been a lot of research recently that has that has shown that influencer marketing does not provide the ROI that it has promised that it would provide there’s a really great episode on Noah Kagan presents, which, by the way, is one of my favorite Podcast, if I tuned in to a podcast, I’m tuning into Noah, Kagan’s podcast, and this podcast was all about influencer marketing, the ins, the outs, what works, what doesn’t it was with a guy named Josh snow, who has really approached influencer marketing in some unique ways, and He shares his experiences and his data in influencer marketing to tell you what works and what doesn’t and for the majority of you reading right now, I guarantee that it’s probably not going to give you the results that you expect that it should all right.

The number three part of social media – it’s the big one, social networking now, when you think about social networking, there’s there’s some really big ideas, and I want you to. I want you to grasp the first is this likes? Don’t matter likes, do not matter. Okay, there’s an article, it’s called a thousand true fans, and it’s just it’s all about how just in life in business in the creative world that you can accomplish so much more with a small group of devoted followers raving fans, then you can, with a large group, Perfect example: Priceline, if you go to their Facebook page you’ll, see that they have millions of followers and their interaction rate.

Their engagement rate is so low, less than 1 %, and it just blows my mind that they can invest so much in this likes game. In this likes number and so little in engaging content, the secret here is social media. Networking is all about that devoted group of fans of followers who will buy everything that you put out that will engage with every post that you put out. This is what social networking is truly about, and if you lose sight of that objective, then you’re going to just be in this rat race that continues and continues and there’s no winning the better way is to mobilize the audience that you do have and not to Focus on all the numbers not to focus on all those people that aren’t going to become customer now, there’s a couple other things I want you to be aware of when it comes to social networking and the first is seeker versus engagement.

Remember this seeker versus engagement when it comes to social networking. There are two types of social networks. The first is seeker networks. Okay, a seeker network is it’s it’s kind of based on this idea of search; okay, it’s where you as a user, will go to that network and you will type in a search and you’re looking for something you’re seeking out information. Okay, a perfect example of this is YouTube.

People go there to seek out the majority of people, go there to seek out information. It’s the second largest search engine in the world, just behind Google, and so, if your goal with YouTube is to build like this massive network with these fans that are engaging, then there’s a super high bar to make that happen and more than likely you’re going to Have to invest a lot of money into making that happen, and the reason why is because you’re going against the flow you’re going against the current the current when it comes to YouTube, is as a seeker Network.

So what you should do on a secret network? Is you should build content optimize it for search optimize it for SEO so that when people go and they type in the search, your content is going to pop up on that first page of results? Okay, so on a seeker network, it’s all about! How can I optimize SEO optimize my content to be found to be discovered later on down the line? It’s not about building this massive blog, where you have a ton of followers and there’s just massive amount of engagement.

That does happen on YouTube, but that is those are the outliers. Those are the success stories. Those are the unicorns okay, the majority of YouTube and the majority of the people using YouTube, use it as a search engine. Now the flipside is engagement. Engagement is where you do have networks where people are engaging where there’s conversations where there is community being built. Perfect example: Facebook Instagram.

These are perfect examples of engagement networks. Now, what I want you to realize with an engagement network like Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin Instagram, is that these are the networks where you can do social listening, because these are the network. We’re conversations are actually happening where there’s groups where people are, you know breaking off into groups of similar interest. Okay, this is engagement networks, and this is where social listening happens.

This is also where you can social influence behavior by way of becoming part of the conversation by becoming a thought leader on the network and by generating and creating content, that’s captivating motivating inspiring that that drives action. Now. The second big idea that I want you to get today is this idea of opened versus closed networks. Okay, YouTube is a perfect example of an open network.

What does YouTube do when you search it, takes you to other people’s content and that most likely links out to the web very similar to Google right, Google, which is not necessarily a social network? Although many SEO s would argue that it is when you type a search into Google, what happens? Is you get a list of results on your search engine results page and when you click the link, it takes you to another site off of Google right same way with YouTube.

It takes you off of YouTube and then there’s no penalty there. Okay, this is actually encouraged. It’s the way that the open network is built. It’s built to lead you to content that doesn’t exist on their site. However, when it comes to closed networks, this is not always the case. A closed Network really penalizes you when you post content, that is not part of its network that is not hosted on its network.

Okay, Facebook is a great example. It’s a closed network. How can you identify a closed Network? Well, the first thing is in order to access most of the content. You need to be logged in okay. It’s a closed network YouTube. You don’t need to be logged in access to content, Facebook LinkedIn! You need to be logged in to access the content, so these are closed networks anytime. You have to log in to access to content.

Then what I want you to think of as a marketing director is, I don’t want to post third party links now. The first question I always get when talking with a marketing director is well Mike, my site’s, not really a third party link, because it’s my site, it’s my page and it’s my site, but you guys think about like this. It’s your brand on Facebook’s, page! Okay! It’s it’s on facebook.Com and because it’s on facebook.

Com, if you put a link to your site in the post to your site, that’s a third-party site, meaning Facebook doesn’t own your site and because of that, and because Facebook is a closed Network, then what’s going to happen. Is Facebook is going to penalize you? I know they say that they don’t, but they do. Experience shows that they, just they don’t show content when it’s when it’s a youtube link, they’re not going to show it to very many people.

You can test this on your own pages when you post a link to your website, they’re, not going to show it to very many people and because Facebook is really built on this snowball algorithm, which is like the more people that like and engage with your content. The more they’re going to see your content and the more they’re going to introduce your content to new people and then on the flip side, if you post a link, no one sees it.

No one engages with it, then what you’re doing is you’re digging a ditch for yourself anytime, you post a third-party link on your site, so be very wary of any time. That might be the case when you want to do that when your boss is like. I want to post a link to you, know our products page here on the site. The reason why Facebook introduced shops is because they don’t want you to go to your website to shop.

They don’t want your customers to go to your website to shop. They want them to shop on Facebook, because Facebook is a closed network and they want everything that happens with their traffic to happen on facebook.Com. If it’s not happening on facebook.Com, then guess what very few people are going to see it they’re going to push it to the side and they’re not going to show it to anyone. So as a marketing director anytime, you have a third-party link on a closed network.

Realize that it’s not going to get very far, the fourth part of social media is social selling and I’ll. Let you in on a little secret. It’s not selling at all, rather social selling is all about building a brand. It’s all about becoming a thought leader. Building familiarity, we’ve talked several times over many episodes that people buy from those that they know like and trust, and the quickest way to drive an increase.

Likeability is by building familiarity it’s by being present by being out there. By having your face out there, the more people see you the more they like and the more that they trust you. I know this is crazy, but it’s it’s a fact. The more they see you the more they like and trust you. As a matter of fact, it’s called the familiarity bias so build it. Put your face out. There put your brand out there be out there be out there as often as you possibly can, and do so.

The step up here. The level up here is, if you’re out there with valuable content. If you’re out there as a thought leader, then people will begin to see you that way. Why do we do that? We are slam shell, so that we can share our experience. We can share our insights, our knowledge with marketing directors like you, so that when the time comes for you to hire an agency, if, when the time comes to, when you just can’t execute – and you just don’t – have the bandwidth to do everything that you need to Do you know in-house, then it’s like okay, we’re going to think about slam to be that that digital partner to be that outsourced marketing department that we can hire that that I can use as a marketing director to do everything that I need to do in terms Of like graphic design, article copywriting social media, digital advertising, I need a team like that, and rather than hiring that team one by one and figuring out, you know who’s who’s good in this position in this position and managing all those people.

Rather than doing all of that, I’m going to hire slam because by hiring slam, I get all those specialties. I get all those people, but I get a team that works well together and that I can provide vision to and strategy for and that they’ll execute on that and it’ll be amazing for my bottom line. Okay, that that’s the value there and that’s why we share content like this, to make you aware of our abilities to make you aware of our knowledge and our capabilities so that when the time comes, you already know who to call that’s what social selling is social Selling is not me hitting you up on LinkedIn and being a nuisance.

Okay, that is social spam. It’s not social selling, so you know why do i? Why am I never on LinkedIn? Why do I just despise LinkedIn? Why do I think that, like everyone in the business world, putting their time into LinkedIn is a waste of time, because it’s a spam network? You can quote me on that. It’s a spam Network and everyone, that’s on LinkedIn for the most part, is usually LinkedIn in the wrong way and just you know, rabbit trail.

If I want to engage and connect with the rail people, then I’m not going to do it on a network like LinkedIn. I’r going to do it on a network like Facebook or Instagram, and the reason why I do that is because that’s when people put their barriers down and that they’re there there they are their real selves at that point on LinkedIn, everyone just has like a mask On it’s the business, you know it’s business, business, business and everyone’s in that business mindset and it’s hard to break through that and really like what most people do to break through that.

It’s just spam, the heck out of you – and I don’t like that. I don’t like LinkedIn, you can quote me on that. Social selling is not social spam, so, rather than hitting somebody’s email, inbox or you’re, deeming them and like just bugging the heck out of them. How do you prospect well inbound prospecting is the key, and that is by putting out articles, putting out post that that provide information and value to the reader and putting that out there, knowing that when the right person comes along and sees that content that they’re going To reach out the final thing that I want you to think about, when you think about social selling is what I call trigger events this could be on.

You know one of the ways that you could use LinkedIn, it’s like okay, I just got a new job. It’s posted, like so-and-so, just got hired here. That is a trigger event. That’s an event that you should be aware of, because it marks a change in that person’s status in that person’s career, and so you know rather than you just saying, hey Congrats, take a note. Knowing that you know if your marketing director you just got hired on as a marking director, your onboarding you’re learning about your new company, there’s a lot of stuff going on, and if I were going to contact you, it’s not going to be on day one right.

If I were going to reach out to you, if my goal was to do an outbound prospecting, then I would I would look at that trigger event, and I would know that within a month and a half two months, that’s probably the time when you’ve got your Bearings and your ready to begin seeking out help, and at that point I want to make sure that you know about who we are and what we do. And so, if I paid attention, if you’re you know one of my targets, if you will, if you’re somebody that I want to work with, and I’ve paid attention to the fact that that you know you started about a month and a half ago, then now I Know that it’s probably a good time to get on your radar.

Okay, this is trigger event awareness. The other thing is just buying cycle awareness, and this is where social listening comes in in regards to social selling. You have to be in tune with those accounts that you want to work with, so be aware of that buying cycle be aware of where they are in that consumer journey, and you can do this with social selling, okay, so the four parts of social media, social Listening social influencing social networking and social selling be sure to listen to this a couple times because there’s a lot of good info in this podcast next week, we’re going to talk specifically about social media networking and how you can get the best bang for your buck.

GetStencil Review ( Image Creation Tool for Social Media Marketers)

Doesn’t it just gives you an opportunity to compare the two systems, but today we’re only going to go over get stencil um. Basically, it’s a simple image creation tool for social media marketers now you might say, but I’m not a social media marketer.

I just want something to create my graphics when I post on Facebook, or when I post on Instagram or Pinterest, I I’m not really a marketer, but I have fun creating images and I’d like to look at the tool. This is for you as well now what I’m going to start out with today, I’m going to show you the pricing and then we’re going to go over the free review of the free product. Okay, because, in my opinion, I don’t care if you even know how to use something, you should always start with the free product before you put money out and make sure it’s what you want.

So let’s go over the pricing. Basically, you can see here I’m going to move this up a little bit free is over here on the left, and then you have your pro and then your unlimited any time. This is why I like to start out with free, because if I start out with the free product and then I know, I really am going to use it, and I want to upgrade – I always go with the annual fee because you save money that way.

If you go monthly you’re going to pay a little bit more, but that’s the way to go if you’re not sure, but I think you would be able to decide once you use it for free. But let’s go down a little bit. We’re going to go in the free account today, where you can only save ten images a month, so it absolutely is just a test product because, if you’re not in social media, marketing and you’re, just using it for fun, ten might be enough.

But definitely if you’re in social media marketing you’re wanted you’re going to want to be able to do 50 a month, which is a good. Almost two images per month, you’re limited to the photos, which is not a big deal because there’s so many in there you’re limited to icons but again, there’s a lot in there and I’ll show you all this. You can upload up to 50 images and over here you’re going to have you can upload as many as you want and you can create 10km since we’re going to go over that you can keep favourites and you can do ten Instagram posts per month.

So over here everything’s a little bit, you have more that you can do once you start paying for it. You have fonts that you can bring in watermarks logos, font uploads, which is I’ll go over, that a premium support a lot of programs. Do that if you have a pay more for a monthly fee, you’re going to get your support a lot faster? That’s just common! With most software tools, you can create up to 25 collections, keep up to 100 favorites and 25 Instagram posts per month, so okay, so that doesn’t mean anything until we get in there.

But I just wanted to show you that I’m getting I’m showing you the free program right now as opposed to the paid one. So when you log in you’re, going to go to get stencil calm and exactly like it sounds get stencil calm, it’s going to come in and it’s going to say you have ten images for the month. I already used one because I just wanted to review it. A little bit before we did this article, and this is what you’ll see you’re going to see some photos over here to the side and in the center.

This is the area where, when I move a photo over, this is where I’m going to do my work. Where I’m going to create my graphic image that I want to create – and over here you have different features right here – is your selection of photos that you can use now. If I open this up where the drop-down arrow is, I can get photos in different areas. I have nature up right now, but you can get patterns, people space and, as you can see, there’s a lot of choices here.

So even though it’s free, I’m just starting out, there’s plenty here that you can pull from okay. So that’s your feature! Your photos go to the next one, and this is templates, so you can even upload a template, that’s already there and maybe change the font. So let me show you as an example: there is a template, it’s going to load it over there. Unless you know this, one is not available, see they’re always going to be trying to get you to go up, so we’re just going to cancel we’re not going to upload.

But what happens is that template would show up and you could change the the quote or the message in the center. Okay, let’s go down a little bit further, there’s featured quotes, I’m going to go back to the top, I’m going to just kind of create as we go, but let’s go ahead and put a photo. Let’s use. Let’s see this one looks nice with the beach, so I’m going to put a photo. I just clicked it and there it is.

I have my photo that I’m going to use for the background. Well now I’m going to go down here to quotes. I can take one of these quotes that are here and click it and it automatically puts it on there. Now these are the featured quotes. If I go in, I could get a business quote. Friendship: let’s look at some business quotes, let’s assume you’re into social media, marketing, time, energy and focus. These are the resources at your disposal every each and every day ideas are like rabbits, you get a couple, learn how to handle them and pretty soon you have a dozen.

So obviously I don’t really have a business picture here. So let me see I’m going to do a quote that might have to do with motivation. Let’s see if there’s anything or inspiration, let’s look for an inspirational quote, I’m kind of inspired. When I look at that here, you go be present in all things and thankful for all things. So, let’s put that there, but there it goes. My quote, went right up there.

I have the person that said the quote. We always want to give credit where credit is due. Now, I’m not going to change anything just yet. I just want you to see that I can put that quote there now. If I keep going, I have an upload button where there’s a little cloud and earlier I just played around, and I found a couple of background images that I thought would look cute with quotes on them. I can upload those here and I believe in the free account you had a limit of 25 uploads or something like that.

But that’s plenty if you’re just playing around getting to know it. The next one is logos and watermarks, and you do have to have an upgrade. So if you have a certain watermark, some people will make their images and will put their business name on there or their own name to kind of take credit for what they’re creating, and it is also another way if other people share it. They’re sharing it with your name on it, so it’s actually a very smart way of getting your name out there.

So definitely, if you’re interested in that, then your want to upgrade but again in the beginning, maybe not necessary, and here’s where I had played around and I saved some images. So let’s say I make this image today and it’s something that I think that I’ll keep using then I’m going to save it in my file here now. If I decide, I don’t want something like this one here. I just click it and I can delete it.

So you don’t have to keep everything there forever. Alright, let’s go back over here. We had quotes now, let’s play around with what we have. What can I do this right now, my font? I can click the font or the message, the the text, and I can change it and I’m going to show you the biggest thing that gets stenciled does that canva does not, and otherwise I think they’re both pretty comparable. But in my opinion this is the one thing that I always want to do and I can’t with canva but I’ll show you in a moment all right.

So I have comic sans ms. If I just hit that top arrow, I can change my fun that easily just just go up and click and there’s tons of fonts in here so again in the pro account, if you want to upgrade, you can bring your own font in so, let’s say you’re Already doing social media, you have your own WordPress, you pretty much have branded yourself with a certain font, and it’s not here. Well, you can bring your own font in and then, when you click my fonts and you’ll just upload it, and it will always be here for you, so that is one nice feature, but if you, if it doesn’t matter to you, everything is right here now, I’m Going to add, there’s a bubblegum sans.

I, like the Comic Sans, I’m going to go back to that real, quick that look pretty good. It came up that way all right now. What can I do from there? I have my text size. I can make it really. Look how big I can go. You can’t go that big with canva canva is limited. I’ve seen people make thumbnails on their YouTube articles and you’ll see that there sometimes their font is huge. Now what I’m going to have to do since I made it big and made it small again, I’m going to have to put an enter in there there to do it to two lines.

So there we go. I can just that simply change my text. I can change the line, hi see how I can separate them or make them closer. I can put a shadow in there. Read the fun read how they they start getting a little bit of a shadow. They look like 3d, oh they’re, not getting much of one on this one. For some reason. I don’t know why, okay earlier when I did it, it kind of made a shadow, it might be because there’s too many too much text there, but I can make it bold.

I can make it italic, I can underline it. I can adjust it to the center to the side and then I can change the text color here now right now, it’s black black works. It’s fine, but let’s say I want to change it to red and it’s that simple go back to black outline. This is what lets I’m going to change the text color and I’m going to make it let’s say: yellow well, maybe not, let’s go yellow now read you can hardly see that.

Well now I can outline it in black now. Look at that, how how much it pops that’s something you cannot do on canva if the person that introduced this program to me was pointing that out, because I saw one of their graphics and I thought oh, how did you do that, and that is pretty cool? How you can outline your text and then you can change your background color. If you want I’m going to leave the background the way it is now here, you can move things forward or you can move them back like right now.

My text is in the front, but when you’re starting to do like multiple layers and things, you can move things to the foreground and to the background, and things like that now I can duplicate this. If I want now, I’m finished with that part now, if I click again, I will get rid of that box now notice here, I’m inside of the text box. Okay. So if I click out that text box with all my features goes away now, I’m going to click on the graphic the photo and now I have filters and things I can add.

I can make it black and white, I can change it, and so I have lots of choices of how I can change that filter. I can make it blurry in the back. You know some people kind of blur the back out, see that and you can make it transparent, so lots of lots of different features on your background as well, you can lighten it, you can darken it. We can go back up here to the you know, so you can see there’s a color overlay if you want to put a color over it and you can choose over here.

So you can get a pretty fancy with this. You can make it horizontal vertical and if you want to upload a different background, you can upload right from here and then here you can make a resizable image. So why would I want to change my image? Well, maybe you don’t want the image to be the whole background. Maybe you just want it to be down like that, so you can play around and get really really creative.

With this, when you’re finished, you can save it now, that’s not something I would save. To be honest, I was just showing you what it did. I didn’t want to sit here and get creative but, like I said, my favorite feature is outlining the font and the fact that the font can be any size that I want. I really like that feature, so they have saved the image and I’ll notice. I’r down to 8, so I can only do 10 a month if I go with the free feature, but if you’re just looking at it to see, if it’s something you want, you can create 10 images and see how you like working it.

If it’s, if you’re using canva or a different program, you can kind of compare now what I’m going to do is download it and you can download it as a JPEG. You can ask for different dimensions. You can print it or just digital standard or maximum. Okay. So I’m going to cross that off and then here you have preview and share, you can preview it on a mobile preview. That’s what it looks like and that’s a desktop preview.

Now this is what’s cool too. What I really like about this is: you can hit Twitter over here and they’re going to resize it for Twitter. If you want to use it for Pinterest, see it resizes for there and then you can go ahead and post to your Pinterest account and go ahead and put it in here. You can pick the board. You want to put it on and post it directly, which is kind of cool. So if you are using Pinterest, I would highly recommend using this and again this one’s to Instagram.

The next one goes to buffer and then the last one is just share your image directly. So you have your own link. If you want to share it someplace else, so you have Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram and buffer. Alright. So there you go back to the pricing. I just wanted to show you: I have a link below if you want to check it out. It’s get stencil com, just in case you didn’t catch that and then, if you don’t want to do your own social media graphics, you can always hire it out to a freelancer.

Who can do it for you, I put a link below that. It says, hire a freelancer and just go to that site it’s and find somebody that can do it for you. A lot of people will hire social media managers. You don’t have to do it yourself. You really need to be looking at your business and figuring out what are the things that I’m going to do and what are the things that I want somebody else to do: you’re going to get to the point where you can’t do it all yourself, you’re going To find that you’re sitting on your computer 12 hours a day and not getting anything done so just gradually start deciding.

What can I hire out? What can I outsource and what can I do myself and that’s kind of what I do if it’s something I don’t like to do or I don’t feel comfortable doing then I outsource it and typically, if I enjoy doing it, I do it myself. So that’s kind of the the way I do it at this point, my business all right. I hope that was helpful. I did not put my little article up here today because I wanted you to see everything and not block anything, but thank you for coming and reading my article today.

How to Grow Your Business with YouTube (Best Marketing Strategy)

So, who is this article for this article is for anybody that wants to be an entrepreneur and start a business online so that other people can see that product that you have to give it’s all it can be for new businesses.

Maybe you’ve never done anything or maybe you’re already established. Maybe you already have an established business on your Facebook, blog or Facebook group, or maybe on Instagram and you’re ready to do something different. This is for you one more thing. I it’s only for people who want to take it seriously if you just want to play around you’re, not really sure you can’t come on here and make a article here and there and think it’s going to take off.

So, if you’re ready to make a commitment and you’re ready to really provide some content to grow your business, then you’re in the right place. Let me ask you a question: what, if you could get thousands or millions of people in front of your business? What would that do for your business, thousands or millions? You can do that on YouTube. You have seen some blogs that have literally 1 2 million followers.

Now imagine getting your content out there and have that many people reading you and seeing the content that you’re providing that has to go with your business. It is a numbers game if you’ve already been around. You know that so the more people, the more traffic that you have, the more people that have their eyes on you, the more growth that you’ll have and the more chances that you will have and being successful and selling through your blog, and that happens through the Links below we’re not going to talk exactly how to monetize YouTube in this one, but I’m going to tell you why you want to use YouTube to grow your business now before we start, I wouldn’t tell you explain to you how YouTube is different than other forms Of marketing, basically there’s two forms of marketing: one is called interrupt, based marketing, and then you have search based, think of interrupt based when you are reading TV and you’re reading your favorite show and then all of a sudden all these commercials come flying at you.

Ok and you’re, like I didn’t ask for that, I don’t really care about Gillette. I don’t shave my beard and I don’t really care, but there’s all kinds of commercials popping on. I didn’t ask for them to be there. They were there. They were interrupting. What I was doing it happens on Facebook, it happens in Instagram, you’re scrolling down going through your newsfeed and Facebook and all of a sudden, all these commercials and ads or ads are popping up, and you didn’t ask for those, and you probably prefer them not to Be there and isn’t it uncanny how they’re usually ads the things that you’ve been searching for, so there is no privacy on Facebook or online if you hadn’t known that, so how is YouTube different? Well, YouTube people are searching for you, they’re saying you know what I want to learn more about health, and fitness and vanessa has a blog she’s, providing recipes every day that that are healthy and nutritious, and I want to follow her and that’s what how people find You they come to you, you don’t come to them.

Now, it’s a little bit more complicated than that. You have to have certain ste search words and things like that. So write this down, that you want to do a little bit of cert research and search engine. Optimization but for today we’re not going to talk in detail about that, but that you definitely need to know a few things like that. But let’s just talk about why you want to be on this platform, all right so number one is: it will help your business grow.

I mean it’s that simple, but you have to be very consistent when you start making YouTube articles you want to make them on a consistent basis and honestly, in the beginning, the more you make the better because you’re just telling YouTube that you know I’m really serious About growing my blog and if you do want a week in the beginning, it’s just going to take that much longer for them to see that you’re serious, because if you did one a week in a year, that’s only 52.

If you do one every day in a year, that’s 365, you have to decide what your goal is. My personal goal has been to make 400 articles in a row and then I’m going to back it down, but I want YouTube to see that I am serious about growing my business and that has been my goal and I think I’m pushing 200 something. As of this article, but I still have a ways to go, but that’s my goal and I know I need to be consistent.

You also need to learn about engine optimization. You might say I’ve got this really good idea about making articles. Maybe you want to teach people how to paint. I would think that would be a good article or a good series, but I don’t know I don’t paint I’m not in that field, but maybe you want to start selling art lessons or something in a digital course, and so your articles have to do with tips And things about art, but maybe there aren’t a lot of people out there that want to learn that and maybe you’re finding that that’s not something that that’s going to be popular.

There are ways: there’s software out there, there’s tools out there that will help. You take your idea and research it and, before you start making articles and building a business from the ground up make sure it’s something that people are searching for. That’s the secret. You don’t tell people what they want, they tell you what they want and then you go. Ah lots of people want to learn how to train dogs.

I’r going to start making articles about that because that’s something that’s being searched. Okay and then maybe you’ll start a Shopify store, selling dog equipment, bowls and leashes, and things like that. Those are just ideas, I’m throwing out there and you want to provide content. Okay, when you’re making the articles you’re just not making willy-nilly different articles, they all have to be cohesive and about the niche that you’ve chosen all right.

So you’re letting YouTube know that you’re, serious and once YouTube knows that you’re serious. They will reward you they want. You to be successful because they can start putting ads on your articles once you’re able to monetize. There are certain mile markers you have to meet before you can monetize anymore and I’m not going to share those because I’m sure they’ll change over time. But if you can monetize and you’re providing content, then you’re providing YouTube a platform where they can put ads it’s a win-win situation for everybody, all right number: two: why do you want to use YouTube? It builds trust with your audience.

If they see you and see your face every single day or four times a week, they get to know you. You know yourself how many stars or people do you read on TV or do you read on YouTube and you feel like you know them, because you get to see them all the time, so you building trust and you’re there consistently in front of them. Now you might say: well, okay, I’m sold I’m going to do it, but I’m afraid I’m really afraid of making a article.

I’r afraid I’m going to look stupid. I don’t know how to do it, everybody’s afraid. In the beginning, everybody, we probably all look kind of silly in the beginning, because we’re not really sure what we’re doing and, as the time goes on, you just keep getting better and better and better. And I think the neat thing is about having your sucky articles. In the beginning is eventually I’ve seen people do it that have been around for 10 years and they’ll go and you look at them and you go man they’re out there on the stage and all kinds of things and then they’ll show you a article of when They first start and you’re like oh my gosh, I’m not that bad.

So just know everybody starts from nothing. My first article I made I made it on Facebook. I was scared to death and what I did just to practice get in front of the camera, and you might do this at first maybe get on Facebook, and I did a how-to article cuz. It’s easy to show people how to do something that you already know how to do and what I did actually now that I look back. It was really fun, but I did a how-to article on how to make fire starters and what we do is we take egg cartons.

We fill them up with sawdust my husband’s in construction, and then you melt wax my mom loves to go to yard sale. She, and I said just go, find me some old candles, so that’s one of her little things that she does and I just melt them down, and I did it right there on the article and I was surprised how many people enjoyed it and I had a Lot of views now that wasn’t so bad, but then I was in a group a course that I was taken and one of the challenges was to be personal.

To share a personal story. Well, I thought I was going to die sharing the story because it’s just when you have to start talking about yourself. It is a little bit different and my heart was racing out of my chest. I had everything written down word for word. Actually, I had it right on my computer and what I do now is just make bullet points, because I don’t want you to see me reading. That’s not what this is all about, but in that particular day that it was my first time I had everything written down, I’m sitting there scrolling and reading and before I sat down I’m just going to be honest with you, I had to go.

Take a drink, a shot of whiskey i-i. Don’t typically do that very often, but I was like I think it was like two o’clock in the afternoon, but I was like oh my gosh and, and I I just I could not get through it, but once I did it, this is the key once I Did it – and I saw that nobody sent me bad things, a lot of my friends who loved me. You know they’re going to say everything. Nice anyway said you did such a great job and the funny thing that happened.

I started doing articles after that and again it just became easier and easier and easier, and it’s funny my mother’s in her 80s and she has a cell phone, and you know how, when you read one article from someone, if you don’t know how to get out Of that article off that person’s page, every article they make will keep coming up. Well, I think about this time I had made that role and they’re on Facebook.

My mom calls me she goes. I had my phone on today and you just kept popping up one after another. She goes all day long and I’m thinking, oh, my gosh, so my I think it’s kind of funny, so my mother became my best fan, so it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be, and you know what people love you they love you just the Way they are, and and if somebody’s going to be mean and tell you you suck, then you don’t really need them to be your friend.

After all, do you so it just keeps getting better. It really does, and it just keeps getting easier and and today you’re reading this and two years from now, you’re going to go man that article is bad, so it just you just keep getting better. It’s like anything that you do another thing number three: why do you need to put your business on YouTube? Is you can build your fanbase you’re, actually building numbers you want to get hundreds and hundreds of thousands.

I am have an influencer that I follow and I’m saying just less than a year ago I was following her and she was around oh, my gosh, maybe three hundred thousand followers and already she’s up to like a million. I mean it just it just tripled and she said the funny thing is once you get a momentum going you you just keep getting more and more subscribers in the beginning, it is like pulling teeth. It’s really hard because you’re brand new, nobody knows who you are YouTube is reading.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=SLYKeXWuY3Y

They want to make sure you’re serious, so they’re not going to throw to you out there too much. So it takes time in the beginning, but once you build that fanbase people will start clicking your links down there in the description. That’s where sales happen down in there or you take them to a landing page in those descriptions or you’re, giving them free things to get their email address. So there’s a whole process, like I said through there, okay, so number four.

I want to emphasize to you that making a YouTube blog and providing content in your youtubes, nothing bad is going to happen. There isn’t anything bad that can happen. Think about it. Usually, when I start out on a new endeavor, I always think. What’s the worst thing, that’s going to happen, I do that. Even I remember when I was younger. Even if I was going to speak, I would think. Okay, what’s the worst thing, that’s going to happen well, you’re going to get a ticket and I’d say: okay, I’m willing to pay a ticket cuz, I’m really not hurry to get to where I’m going and I’m willing to pay the price.

So with YouTube, though, there is no price to pay. The only thing you’re going to lose is some time but you’ve in that time. This is the thing you’re not really losing anything, because your communication skills will get better. Even if you stop the blog and you decide this isn’t for you, you have grown as a person you’re better in front of an audience. You have better communication skills, you’ve learned how to make articles, and maybe you started getting fancy and adding things in there.

So you’re only going to get better, there’s, nothing, bad, that’s going to happen and the process of making a article is actually simple, but the longevity of it is hard. So I want to explain that in this way, what if you were to run a marathon running step by step right is not hard. It’s a simple process just to run now, whether or not your body can last very long. That’s different same thing with the article.

It’s not hard to make a article. I actually have a little camera on my laptop. I think I paid $ 60 for it, I’m not using the internal camera because it wasn’t that good of quality, and I have a microphone that I bought Yeti. So there you go, I think that was a hundred, so maybe one hundred and fifty dollars. I have two pieces of equipment and that’s it a lot of people just use their their phone. I don’t have a high quality phone.

I have an iPhone, but I’ve got an older one, but there are times that I’ve used it. I might be outside or something and I’ll just do a article like that. But the point is that part’s easy, that’s the easy part. The process what’s hard is the persistence and the consistent consistency and hanging in there. There are days that you might say why am I doing this? There’s I’m not getting that many subscribers, I’m I’m not getting that many views.

I just want to sit down and cry. I mean there’s days that you feel like that, like you, you feel like it’s um, just no results and that’s where a lot of people will quit and that’s why you don’t see that many people that are successful, because when you start doing it you’ll see it’s. It’s time, there’s things that you have to do to build your business. You’ve got to build that foundation, especially in passive income.

You’ve got to put those systems in place. That will be there forever. That can keep making you money, and one of them is articles. Youtube articles are evergreen, they never disappear. So that’s a little tag in there for passive income. They don’t go away. I could make a article ten years ago and if, if the right keywords are in there and somebody searches for and it pops up, then it’s still there where, if you’re on Facebook or Instagram they disappear, they’re gone.

So that’s the difference there forever or gone okay. So those are the reasons that you want to stick with YouTube. And again I want to emphasize to you that’s staying consistent with your content and with your articles is what helps your success YouTube wants you to be successful because YouTube benefits. Remember YouTube is selling ads to people. You know there’s little ads that you always want to skip at the beginning of the article.

Even if somebody just clicks it they get money for that and it probably not a lot. I’r not monetized. Yet I will be, but they the longer people read those articles, they get more money and and people get very strategic and where they put those ads those little article ads and they the a person advertised benefits because they get to put their ad in front of Millions of people, if you have a huge audience, YouTube benefits because they’re getting that money and you’re providing the platform they don’t have to even provide one and all the people out there, making articles and blogs that’s where they put those ads.

So that’s a win-win-win situation and you get a little bit of money from YouTube for monetizing, so everybody wins, but you have to let YouTube know that you’re serious and by being consistent and sticking it out and providing that content lets them know. So what I suggest for you is get started on your blog. I have this in a article, a series, YouTube growth and I will continue to put YouTube articles articles in there that will help you with your growth, so be sure to click that link and again, if there’s not a lot in there, when you click it just Go back and keep looking because I will consistently keep putting articles in the playlist until then I’ll see you on the next article and thank you for reading.

Best Social Media Post Scheduler in 2020

It’s really awesome and I’m going to show you a program that I like to use where you can go in and schedule. Obviously, there’s tons of them out there. You can go out and do your research, but the one I’m going to show you today is called lumely, and this is the one that I use.

This is my favorite one of my favorites anyway, and I’m going to show you what it looks like and give you an idea of what scheduling your posts can do in your life. Alright, let’s go ahead and get started, so is: is posting on social media eating up your time, you’re trying to post to Twitter to Instagram to Facebook? Of course, if you’re brand new, you probably shouldn’t be posting to so many places, but maybe you’ve already got these platforms established and then you decided to start your business and there’s lots of reasons.

People have to do what’s best for them, so you’re in a dilemma. I you know even posting to one platform and being a what, if I could tell you, you could post out everything in one month in one day and then not even have to mess with them. That’s what this does for you. So, even if you’re only home one platform, this could be your thing. So let’s go ahead and look at lumely and see what it does and let’s try to get rid of some of that frustration.

Lumely makes your posting look like this, so you can go in and I’m going to show you how I’m not going to go in real detail like step by step and give you a tutorial, because every every software tool that you buy will have that. And you can follow it as you’re using it, but I want to show you what it looks like and let you see how easy it is. But this is what attracted me to lumely. I love third layout.

Here’s a layout of a calendar, so I’m going to show you the steps and what you can do to put your post in and see how easy it is. But then I want you to see. This is what it looks like when you go to your schedule. To your calendar, you can say: do I have enough scheduled for January? Do I have enough scheduled for March, and you can see exactly what you have scheduled and say you know what I might want to pop some in over here on January, 4th, the 9th or 10th, or something like that.

So this gives you a visual, and I personally am very very visual. I need to see what it looks like when it’s all put together. So that’s what attracted me was the calendar um. So where do we go from there right here? You can create a calendar, and this is what it looks like it’s step by step and when you set the calendar up, this is a cool thing too. You can have more than one calendar. So if you happen to be running a business, an agency and posting social media for other people, guess what those people are using they’re using a tool just like this they’re going to go into their clients, accounts and set up all their social media.

For the next three or four months and then go work on the next one, so you could even start a job doing this as a social media, scheduler or an agency. So you go in and you schedule your new calendar and again it takes you step-by-step, and it gives you a an opt-in that it says current scheduling options. It gives you different options that you can go to, and it’s example right here. You can start a new calendar or you can pop into your other calendars, so maybe you’re on five or six different social media platforms.

So let’s say you’re on Facebook and Twitter and Pinterest and LinkedIn and Instagram. So you have five. You can look at individual calendars for them or you can look at the whole calendar of everybody together or you can make calendars for your clients for other people. Why would you want to do that? Well, maybe there are certain things you didn’t want to put on. Instagram, but you did want to put on Facebook and things like that, but I’m going to show you how simple it is.

If you have one post that you want to share every place, I used to think when I was brand new well. Why would I want to share the same post on all of my social media platforms? Then everybody’s going to see the same post, but once you start building an audience, everybody is not on all of your platforms. You have your Instagram people, you have your Facebook people, your YouTube people, there’s different people on different platforms.

Now somebody’s really stalking you and they absolutely love you well and they’re, just going to get a dose of five times the same thing that’s just with, and hopefully they’ll realize that and stop being on everything, that’s their choice, so you can do that now notice here On Instagram Instagram does not allow people to schedule their post, Instagram wants people to be live and active and engaged and present.

So what you can do is schedule your posts in lumely and then lumely will notify you and say: hey, don’t forget to hit this button and post your Instagram post. So you can plan them and schedule them, but you have to manually go onto your phone or whatever for Instagram and hit the button and post it, but it is still nice that you can have it all planned out. You don’t have to keep thinking about him.

That’s the nice thing about your business. You want to start learning how to focus on certain tasks and do as much as you can bulk and then go focus on something else. Alright set your workflow, so here you can set how your workflow will be set up. So you can have an original workflow, a light workflow and a zero at workflow. Zero means that you don’t have to have anything approved the other workflows it.

You can put some parameters in there like maybe, if you’re running a business you might want it to go. Have the Creator create it, then you might want to have your QA person check it and then your third person is going to go ahead and post it or something like that. So that’s your workflow. If you’re just doing it yourself – and you don’t need anybody to approve it, then you’re going to pick the one down here at the bottom, so you create a new calendar.

It’s very very easy! You can see the steps here again, I’m not going to sit here and do it obviously. But I want you to see but posting details now when you go to do a post, you’re going to give go ahead and follow the directions step by step and as you’re following them and you set a pose so right here. Here’s all your post details, you’re going to say I want it on Pinterest. I want it on LinkedIn and you pick which social media platforms that you want it on.

When you set up your account, you tell lumely which accounts you have and you have to integrate them again. Every post doesn’t have to go on every platform, but this is the neat thing. When it does, it will allow you to go in and week the content. So obviously, when you put something on Pinterest and you put something on Facebook, the size of the picture is different, and maybe what you want to say, you want to tweak it a little bit differently.

Facebook. You might have this lengthy thing that you’re going to say about that post and maybe you have a shorter version, you’re going to put on Pinterest or Instagram, so you go in and it’s going to say. This is what it looks like on each of these platforms. How do you want to tweak it, and then you tweak it? But the neat thing is your one piece of content. So, if you’re on YouTube, but a lot of youtubers do is like well Monday, you might make all your YouTube articles and then, throughout the week you’re going to make sure you post it on all your platforms and get it out there and one way to do It is to schedule it out ahead of time.

Alright, and here you can fine-tune your blogs or or your each of your tweaks, each of your posts. It’s raining here and I just had a big thunder thing and it just made me jump sorry about that. It kind of took me off, hopefully we’ll make it through this article, alright, and then you can set age restrictions. Probably I typically don’t anybody can read what I have, but if you have something that needs to be restricted, some people do you have that ability to do that? This is something I like to the dashboard look.

How easy and user-friendly this dashboard is everything you need is right there. It tells you exactly what it is and you can just click it and go into that area. I love again that it’s all very visual. It’s not some tabs off to the side that I have to figure out what those titles mean. I can look at and go yeah. You know that. I I understand that I see what that is. So again, it’s just a preference.

Here’s your calendar again! Wonderful user friendly visual for your calendar and again you can go out six months at a time. If you want to now. You might say: okay, I’m going to sit here and I’m going to schedule all of my stuff out for six months. But what if I scheduled everything from January to June – and here it is March – and maybe there was something I wanted to post well, you can still go in there live you can still.

If you found something, maybe that you want to share you’re an affiliate marketer – and you didn’t want to wait till June to start sharing this particular product or content about it, go share it. You can go in there at any time and change the schedule. It’s not set, but the work, the bulk of the work is done, and you don’t have to have that hanging over your head every week I got to get in there so many times a week.

You don’t have to worry about it anymore. Here’s another view that they have as well. It lets you see what your posts are where they’re at and it’s just a different type of view instead of a calendar view, but again it’s a very visual lets. You see what pictures thanks you’re using and where did you post it and what your copy is. The part you write, your words is called your copy and, and you can see the posts and not just the schedule, so that’s cool too and maybe you’ll go in.

There say you know what I don’t like that picture, I’m going to change it and change it up, or maybe you had a particular post that had a lot of engagement and you want to talk about the same subject, but maybe elaborate on something and change. The pictures out of that the neat thing about posting too, is once they’re posted. They go into an archive. You can go back and recycle your work, so I know a couple: people have been around for a long time.

They will schedule things six months at a time and then they have like four sets of posting that they do and they just keep recycling it. So when they go back to recycle, they may go in and tweak it update it. It’s ready to go again, so it can save you a lot of time and if it’s something you don’t like to do, it’s all you know something you can hire hire it out. Let somebody else do it now. This is neat for Facebook.

You can choose your target audience and promote them on Facebook, so it isn’t an ad you’re, not really paying for an ad, but it works like an ad. So if you have a particular post on Facebook and you want to target an audience, this is awesome. You can use this in lumely, so Facebook will post it to people that would be most interested in, and you know how it is you’re sitting in your house talking to your spouse or one of the kids about a pic particular dog food that you like, and All of a sudden there’s commercials on TV, it’s all over your Facebook, because somebody out there heard you that you liked a particular dog food that happened.

It’s nice all the time, but that’s what marketing is and we’re in a technology world and so you’ll be part of it. You can find those people that, like what you’re, promoting and Facebook will put it right in front of their face, and again this is just a little over all of you for you. You know to see I wanted to let you know too, that you’re probably thinking yes, but how am I going to come up with all these ideas? You don’t have to worry about it.

Lumely has a whole library of quotes. They have pictures in their media library that you can use. You can change your text and all that again, I’m not even going into the mechanics of how to make a post I’m showing you what it does, but if you’ve ever used canva and you’ve made a post there. A lot of that is available to you right here in lumely as well, and you can still go get your own pictures, but it’s there.

If you can’t think – and you need stuff available right away – it’s all there right for you and other things that lumely does. It brings up ideas for you. It brings up, quotes the media library just like I was talking, and it also has analytics. So if you want to see which one which posts we’re getting more engagement, more views, you can get analytics attached to your post as well, which is any time you’re doing marketing.

You want your analytics, so I’m going to pull up the pricing, and I want you to see here some of the different pricing there. There is a 15-day free trial, which I love any time you use any software use the free trial if you’re seriously. Looking for a scheduler find two or three that you want to check out, make sure they all have that free trial use the free trial and just make sure you go in and cancel your membership.

If you’re trying out two or three of them, you could try them all out at the same time and go in and out and then cancel two and pick the one you want, but the I always make sure that I, like the one I want the first Month, I’ll go ahead and pay the monthly fee. If I’m positive that that’s what I like, then I just go ahead and get the yearly, because you can save a lot of money that way, but this one here the base, the cheapest, the lowest level, can have two users.

So you can have somebody helping you with you helping you with this. If you hire somebody and then you have 10 accounts, that means 10 different social media accounts. So even if you have like 3 Facebook pages, all three of those could be on there. So that’s pretty cool, there is, and you can run ads if you want to the only thing with this one. Well, you just want to look at what each one has and I think that, obviously the higher you go.

You can get into custom branding and things like that. If you’re running a business you’re going to want a you know some of these more advanced than premium and enterprise, and things like that, those are for people running a business. But again, if that’s something you’re thinking about this is the way to go. It’s not if you’d love to be on social media and you’d love to post turn it into a business and do what you love to do more than anything gosh.

You know so easy make sure you subscribe to my blog. I would love to have you subscribe, and so you can see my articles that I put out every Tuesday every Friday to help you tips to help. 4 Ways to Measure Social Media ROI

Also this, I think, determination in small Businesses that they’re like “ There is no way to do this.”, So they love to hear about Roi return on investment. You get asked this too right Right. They end up spending so Much of their time on there, they wan na make sure they’re actually getting something back, Which I totally get right. You’re time is super valuable, you’re doing a million other things and then now social media Is added to your plate? How do you justify the time or the money if you outsource it like GoDaddy Social, You wan na justify that time and money and a way to do that is understand.

Are you getting a return on investment And the good news is there’s a lot of ways to See if you are or not, There’s data analytics metrics, but I’m going to break it. Down into four umbrellas of how to measure ROI, starting with number one brand awareness Cool, how do you Measure brand awareness, So brand awareness can be measured in one way that you’re, probably Already thinking at home, your number of followers How many people are following you More people following you on Twitter, seeing your tweets following you on Instagram Seeing your great photos following you on Facebook and Reading those great captions, The more exposure you have and the more followers you have seeing it that’s brand awareness Perfect And does that count likes and comments, and things like that too Totally So likes comments.

Love shares retweets. That’s just going to help You get in front of not only your followers The awareness there, but your friends and their friends, maybe their family members as well, So the awareness just Spreads like wildfire Spreadin’, the love Spreadin’, the love All right, so digging in On the analytics aspect, It’s easy to see the amount of followers you see the amount of Likes and things like that, is there a step further? We can go to really see the nitty gritty Yeah totally.

So that’s a cool thing. If you have business pages set up, they allow you a clear view of what’s working. What’s not working what time of a day a post works? Well, how many people are seeing It et cetera, et cetera, So with Facebook, you Have your “ Insights” tab And, what’s really cool, is it breaks down a ton of information And they even have a little Information button on each one. So if you’re reading a Metric and it’s like “, I’m not even sure what Engagement rate means.

”, (, laughs, ). You know you click on it. It’ll break down what it is Perfect And Instagram too. You have To make sure you create a or turn your account Into a business profile that way, you can see insights and how many people viewed Your page liked it commented what time of the week you Get the most engagement If you’ve turned your Instagram account into a business page. Let us Know in the comments below Just say, “ I’ve turned It into a business page.

”, So that’s with Instagram Twitter there’s the top tweet. So you can see that in your Twitter analytics as well So go in. There see what Your audience likes, in other words your customers and then have that inform Your strategy moving forward, which will also help you be More efficient with your time and give the customer what they want, Give them what they want, Give them what they want: ( laughs, ) All right, moving on Tip number two: where are we at with that? So tip number two: one Of my personal favorites customer satisfaction And you’re, familiar with This inside your business, whether you have a barbershop Or a car dealership, you can see it on the person’s face that they’re satisfied or not.

I can’t make a frowny face: Aw Darn it I was cuing them up. So one way you can do it. Online with social media is well your reviews. Your customers are going to tell you if they had a poor experience. Or a great experience But make sure you’re Reading those reviews Believe it or not, I still Come across businesses that don’t take the time To read their reviews, I’m like “ Wait. This is a great place “ to see if your customers Are satisfied or not.

” Also what they’re saying when They mention you on Facebook, Right, Especially, you have to Respond good or bad. I know most people will just Respond to the good ones and try to just ignore the bad Ones like they don’t exist, Just give them a response. See if you can make it right, apologize to the situation and move on Totally So again pay attention to What your customers are saying, They’re talking to you online And if you wan na even a Deeper dive into that we have another episode of The Journey on social listening so check it out So cool statistic: I read the other day: actually, a quarter of people who have a positive Experience at a business will go and tell 10 people Both online and offline – That’s pretty awesome.

All right. Tell me What’s tip number three Tip number three is actually Gaining new customers, which is your favorite, I know When I say “ You’re Gaining new customers”, you can picture just dollar Bills in your pocket Make it rain, ( laughs ). So how can you do that with all this social Media and online stuff Couple ways: One: your customers are going to Click on your Google listing for their directions.

I know I do that before Every business I go to because I get lost very easily, But if I’m clicking on the directions, I’m coming to your business and I’m coming to spend Money with intent Also calling Calling you That’s another great way to measure that you’re getting a new customer You’ve already learned. That a lot of customers don’t take the time to call So if they’re calling You they mean business, they are serious about Spending money with you, You got yourself a new customer And so because the Google Listing’s really important Yelp and that “ Click to call” you wan na, make sure I’r sure this obvious that everything is up to date, The right phone number, the right address The hours right.

How many times have you gone to a business? That said it was open, you get there and it’s closed And that’s a bummer Just makes me so sad. So sad, And also besides that, if you have a chance to Speak about your business, maybe “ About You” or add Photos do that as well too and make sure that’s up to date, Maybe you’ve remodeled. Since the last time you had your Yelp photos. Updated or your Google Add that in there spice things up Take some photos, Keep it up to date, so When your customer comes in that new customer, you just gained they’re getting an experience.

That they predicted that they expected Right All right, so we’ve reached The end of our journey, We’re on tip number Four, the very last one: What do you got for us Brand loyalty, Another one you’re familiar With the terminology, but what does it look like online? Well, there’s, don’t worry, It’s not tough math, but well, let’s see how It goes for Justin here All right, engagement rate. How do you measure that? Well, it’s pretty easy.

It’s the number of likes You receive on a post divided by the number of followers times. You guessed it 100 And that’s going to equal Your engagement rate ( mumbles ), Oh no! No! It’s not that hard, So write it down, keep it nearby And when you’re posting Check in do the quick, math And then you’ll determine is that engagement rate Where it should be, And what’s also awesome, About brand loyalty is actually 85 % of customers – 85 %.

I know that’s – almost 100, 85 % of customers will actually Engage with your brand if they’re, loyal daily And when I say, engage they’re going to be liking. What you’re posting commenting sharing on a daily basis And that’s huge That constant, like and That constant, following they’re, going to continue to see their stuff and they’re going to continue. To tell their 10 friends and onward and onward and onward All right, so that’s a wrap.

We just covered four ways to measure ROI when it comes to your social media. Make sure you, like this article, subscribe to the blog and ring that bell. If you Wan na see these articles first, This has been The Journey. Thanks for reading

Top 5 Social Media Best Practices of 2020

Welcome to the we are slam show where we share marketing agency, insights, best practices and ideas to help your business grow. My name is tyler kelly, i’m the co-founder and chief strategist. At slam agency. We are a small but mighty full-service marketing agency, that really works as an outsourced, marketing department for marketing directors like you marketing directors that have an idea and a vision for where you want to go.

But you don’t have the team the time or the bandwidth to make it happen. That’s where we come in now today, we’re going to give you some insight into how we do social media. In fact, these are my best practices for social media networking now, typically, this is the type of information that an agency would want to keep to itself, but we’re not that way. As a matter of fact, we know that the more we give the more we receive, and so we just want to give you as much knowledge as much value as many insights as we possibly can, and this show today is going to do just that.

Okay, so let me ask you a question: what do you think is the number one reason people unfollow a brand on a social network, any ideas. Well, let me tell you it’s because their posts are too promotional. Okay, I’m going to share with you our rule here at slam. We call it the 80 % rule. This is a big one. I want you to write this down. No more than 2 out of every 10 post should be promotional, and this is true on every network, no more than 2 out of every 10 post should be promotional.

This is the 80 % rule. As a matter of fact here at slam we like to we try to make that the 90 % rule and with many of our clients we try to make that to 90 % rule, and so now I know you’re thinking as a marketing director. Well, you know my job is to promote the business that I work for. My job is to promote my brands, so you’re telling me that I’m I shouldn’t really be doing that in social media.

What should I do good question key is to really create content that people on an engagement network can get behind can share, can engage with, can can have conversations around. This is the type of content that you like to share. As a matter of fact, we do social media for an HVAC company. Can you believe it an HVAC company now, typically, this would be. You would think pretty dry content right. It’s like hey, let’s fix the boiler, let’s fix the furnace.

Let’s those are all promotional types of things, so when we got around as a group and we begin to brainstorm what types of content would work well, we had to come up with content that wasn’t necessarily focused on what they did and so what we had. So what we did was we looked at you know, associations we looked at, you know where were they giving money? Where were they donating their time and one of the things that we realized was that they were really dedicated and devoted to the humane society, to making sure that pups had a home? And so what we wanted to do was number one was highlight.

That association highlight that relationship, and we did it by creating a pet of the month contest where essentially, people would submit photos of their pets, and we would select a winner each month where professional artist would then create a portrait of their pet. We would give them the portrait. The client would give them the portrait and then that portrait would be hung in a pet Hall of Fame and our clients office, and this has been going for over for almost two years now, and it has been one of the most viral campaigns we’ve ever put Out because people are engaged and what this does is, it puts our client on their radar so that when it’s time to pick an HVAC company, they know who they are, what they do and they have a connection to their brands.

So they’re going to call this company that’s one way that you can promote without promoting in social media. So one of my five best practices well number one is what I call pee pee pee pee. Now we hear all the time about b2b and b2c, which, if you’re wondering business-to-business business sumer these are these acronyms that we hear all the time in social media. I really want you to be focused on this idea of p2p okay.

This stands for person-to-person. Social media is a personal experience right when you log in and you’re you’re you’re scrolling through your facebook feed, or you know, you’re flipping through Instagram photos or stories. It’s personal, it’s personal to you and so as a brand. What you have to do is you have to make sure that everything you do is personal. It’s person-to-person, don’t think of it like you’re on this, don’t think of it as like you’re on this big hill and you’re talking down it’s.

Never it’s never about me as a brand talking to this, this mass of people right, it’s about me as a brand as as a person connecting with another human being person to person. Okay, if you keep that in mind, then when you sit down to write your social media post, when you sit down and communicate, then you’re no longer communicating to the masses but you’re communicating to individuals to human beings and you’ll notice that your copy will dramatically improve.

If every time you sit down to write something you think P to P, the second best practice is the 80/20 rule I mentioned and again, because it’s key, no more than two out of every ten post should be promotional. Okay, the number one reason that people unfollow brands on social media is because they post too many promotional posts. My number three best practice is perception is reality now I really want you to think about this, because this is really key.

Okay, perception is reality. What does this mean? Well, what it means is that, however, I perceive you to be as a brand. That is my reality now remember. Social media is p2p, it’s person-to-person, so it’s not about what you think of your brand. It’s what I think of your brand. Okay, and for me, my perception is my reality: now you might be thinking. How can I influence someone’s perception of our brand and that’s a really good question? As a matter of fact, we talked about that a few weeks ago in our show about confirmation biases as a marketing director, you can utilize confirmation biases to your advantage by number one being aware of them and then number two by utilizing them ethically.

Okay, social media is a great place to apply some of the principles in that episode, which will link to in the show notes. Okay, here’s three things I want you to think about. When you think about perception is reality, number one is familiarity, bias. Okay. This is key if you are building a personal brand, if you’re building a brand, where there is somebody front and center, then you want to make sure as a marketing director you put that person front and center over and over and over again, because people buy from Those that they like and trust and in order to accelerate this liking, and this trusting you can build familiarity.

This is called the familiarity, biased, which simply says that the more people see you the more they like and trust you, okay, if you’re a brand that doesn’t have a person that you can put forward as the face, or you know a group of people that you Can put forward as the faces, then that’s where you really need to take a step back and think about how can we, as a brand that essentially, is recognized by a logo? How can we become more personal? How can we be more p2p so before we even get to this point, you have to think about p2p, and how can you do that as a logo as a corporation, if you’re just posting from this entity, that is unapproachable, then a lot of times you’re not Going to be as engaging in social media alright, this is why fast food in fast food, you see the trends with comedy it’s where Wendy’s and Jack the Box they’re really able to build this p2p to build.

This perception is reality through the molarity. By being out there by injecting their brands and making them more personal, okay, this is this is where comedy really comes into play. The number four best practice that I want you to be aware of is to follow blog norms. This is so huge because a lot of times this just doesn’t happen. Okay, we think that we can just create a article for youtube and then just like distribute it in facebook and in turn all these places.

But the thing is number one: each blog has its own norms in regards to formats in regards to times and links of articles in regards to the way that people communicate. This is a big one right so like on Instagram stories, I’m going to communicate differently than I would on a Facebook post. I can’t put hashtags in a Facebook post and expect those hashtags to go too far. The hashtags that I use on LinkedIn are going to be completely different than the hashtags that I use on Instagram and so, if you’re taking social media as if you’re taking the approach of I’m just going to create one piece of content and then put it everywhere.

You’re taking the wrong approach, you need to follow blog norms and what that means. It’s like you have to be in each blog authentically in a matter of fact, that’s number five number five is be authentic, no one likes it when you’re, fake and in social media. We can tell okay, we can tell when you’re, not being your true self, when you’re not being your true brand. Okay, it’s obvious people, they have a, they have a BS meter and and – and we can see it a lot of times – brands get into trouble because they’re trying to be something that they’re not remember, p2p, remember perception is reality and kind of just be yourself, be Authentic authenticity is all about being true to your brand values being true to your brand voice.

If you can do that, then you can be authentic. These are my best practices for social media networking and I hope that you’ve been able to take something from this article. I hope that you’ve been able to pull something that you can use today. I want to leave you with this one final tip editorial calendars, use them. Okay, it’s super important that you get organized as a marketing director and the best way to do that in social media is to utilize an editorial calendar, an editorial calendar just at a high level.

It allows you to organize your promotions. You know any special events, any dates that are that are important for your business. Your brand, you list those on a calendar in any kind of high-level, insert ideas for the types of content that you want to happen week in and week out on, each of the networks. Okay, I promise, if you, if you aren’t using the editorial calendar – and you start using one you’re, going to instantly – feel more organized you’re going to be able to report on what works.

What doesn’t work you’re going to know? What’s coming up, you’re going to stop doing things last minute or in the moment, and it’s really going to allow you to implement the best practices that we talked about and it’s going to allow you to really level up when it comes to your social media game. Okay, so a few quick tips for editorial calendars number one editorial calendars use them now.
