Let me break it down start back. Historically, most of the time people say a a good influencer is not just someone who had a lot of followers. That’s right. It’s somebody who also has this engagement.
Don’t just look and see if they have a lot of followers. Do they have engagement? Now you know they don’t have fake followers now you know that their followers actually cares about them and those are the people that you want to follow up with. That’s pretty much become the agreed-upon thing, but there’s one step further people. I swear it’s one step further, that a lot of folks are missing. Straight-Up engagement does not equal influence, that’s pretty much it engagement does not equal influence.
What do I mean by that? Well, you know what first, let’s rewind back for a little bit of story time. Yeah I had his homegirl his home girl who’s, throwing an event and she was so excited. She had this host. That was a IG and no one, sir, when I say IG influencer, I’m talking about this person had a hundred and fifty some thousand followers Real Talk. Real followers, because these people were engaged matter of fact she was super excited because person was so cool that they start posting her event pretty early and then she says Shawn.
I really want you to come to this event like for real for real. Come to this event check it out, and I said: okay, okay, I come out to the event and I get there late mind you – and this is what I see I see about 15 people in the whole venue, including myself, including the probably about five artists that Were performing and their friends and the host, why was nobody that interested in coming to see this person, because that person was not an influencer, at least not in that way, being an influencer means being able to actually influence people in their decision making having a certain Level of trust, this person – I believe, if I remember correctly, was basically like a local media and they had got them scared going if people were going there to their page to laugh, but they weren’t going to really see what this person was about.
There was no buy-in as much as people hate them Kardashian a lot of people hate on her there’s a lot of people that look to her for influence. Alright, they look at what she’s wearing they looked at the lips, the button, all them things so keep this. In mind, when you pick your influencers for your campaigns who you’re trying to pay, because you can end up wasting a lot of money, paying somebody who has views and engagement but zero influence, there’s a lot of people that I know that I’m cool with or I Might even pick up the phone if they call, but I’m not really checking to them for what shoes they’re wearing right jay-z has a lot of influence right, but nobody’s really looking at his sneakers, at least not on the level that they might be looking at Kanye’s Sneakers right, this is just one specific category, and this is very important for you guys to consider for your music as well.
Jay-Z is obviously the influential person but they’re not looking at him for fashion as much or looking at Calle for fashion. As a matter of fact, people are now looking at some pretty ugly sneakers, just because this Kanye, like the ladies, I know some people might disagree, but the ladies TV collection type stuff mmm, but people are buying. So a great example is a homeboy is a rapper. I’r not going to mention his name or anything like that.
He went to the page of a very popular dancer named kid. It agreat that kid is that Nick, like kid, it can dance his butt off he’s dope. However, I told him Brett, don’t pay buddy to put your music on his page and dance to your music, and I tried to explain it beforehand why it would not work. This is why I said yo people go to his page to see him dance. I know. There’s a lot of views on his articles, but they’re going through his page to see him dance they’re, not really listening or caring too much about the music.
That’s in the background, they’re just reading his dance to the beat, so his influence is more so dance based. There’s probably a lot of dancers, they love him and can be influenced by him. Read his moves, but because he’s dancing all the time and that’s what’s on his page, no one’s really going to hear the music they’re just want to see him dance again. The same thing for a lot of these pages, where they’re twerking all the time, I’m sure people throw money at him all the time.
However, people are not really checking the twerk pages. It’s work they go on for the booty. We know what people are going for. Well, they’re also people who actually like twerking study and they wonder damn you know, twerk do sales and then looking at work move whatever. But point is people are not going to those pages for the music? That’s being listening to. You might have some people who drizzle over and actually want to listen to your song and they really get caught by it.
But it’s nowhere near as impactful as going to a different page where someone actually has influence and they’re not diluting their brand. In a sense of the music that they might listen to now, the same artists that I told to not use kids agree also saw amazing results, and this other campaign that I mentioned right in there’s these girls he got posted on the girls page, had nothing to Do with them actually dancing to the song or anything like that, they were just kind of listening to it.
In the background more so, however, these girls do not post music all the time. So now the people who are following them – and I have some – were influenced by him when that song is played by then they think they actually liked that song. So now these people that I like liked this song, I want to know more about that song. What makes them think that’s so great, but if I’m just dancing the songs all the time, that’s nothing to do with whether I like the song or not.
You don’t really think that I love this song, just cuz, I’m dancing to it. But if I did a song on one of my pages – and I was just like yo – this is the best song ever and people never see me. Talk about music y’all are going to probably listen to the song, because I’m usually talking about artists campaigns. I’r not really talking about this. Is my favorite song on this blog. It’s the same way, you should look at everything there’s context.
So not only is it followers engagement, but then you want to look at influence and influence has multiple categories. Right influence has first, two people actually look to this person and actually make decisions or see value in this person’s opinion, and then the other layer is when you analyze these people and their pages. What likely is their influence faced towards like? Are they influencing other people to dance or are they influencing other people to dance to specific songs? They just making people laugh and if they are making people laugh and they can they do a article in a unique way where the song seems so enjoyable.
They want to check that song too, like there’s so many ways, and so a little bit more nuance than just saying this person has followers and engagement. I had to put that out there. Maybe one day I might go deeper with very specific examples or some things like that. I don’t know, I think, that’s specific enough, because there’s a wide range of you guys who have a different scenario. So you kind of use it for your own situation.

You have to go in, you have to design the different posts, they’re different sizes and then put them on your different platforms and before you know it, half the day is gone. I’r going to show you three different social media planners that you can choose from that. Are going to help you save some time? My name is Vanessa de boules and welcome to my blog and first of all, one of the questions people ask when they’re looking for a planner or social media planner is where can I post as the planner post on all the platforms that I’m using? I am going to compare today HootSuite buffer and lumely what I have found out that they all post on Facebook they all post on Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn Pinterest.
So that’s not an issue now. What are we going to compare? Well, then, what a lot of people will look at is: what is the price? Now, I’m going to show you the price point of each one of these, but what I want you to look at is: what are you getting for that price, sometimes something it’s kind of like driving a car? All cars get you from point A to point B, but some of them cost a lot of money and some of them don’t cost as much.
Maybe half the price and it depends on what you’re looking for, if you’re, just trying to get from point A to B and you don’t care about luxury, how long the cars going to last or any of that or all the fancy stuff, then sometimes the cheaper Model is the best way to go, so it really depends on what you’re looking for. So, let’s go ahead and dig in and look at all three of the price points and some of the features and the benefits of each one.
We’re going to look at HootSuite. First and HootSuite they have a 30-day free trial, which is nice, because you can really dig in and get to use the program here. It has such ten social profiles that you can use. So we just went over some of those Facebook Twitter. Now you might say: well you didn’t say ten different things. Well, the neat thing about Facebook. You can pose to your personal account.
You can post to your business account and you can post in different groups. So, if you’re really into Facebook and posting in several different groups, you can schedule those and come up with ten different Facebook accounts if you want to so that’s where the advantage of having a lot of accounts helps. This is something that I want you to look at unlimited scheduling you can put as many posts as you want.
That’s not bad for twenty nine dollars a month, sometimes you’re limited to how many posts that you can make, and it only has one user. So, if you’re only using it for yourself, the by all means that would help meet your needs now, if we go down a little bit more, you can see some of the other features. The posting is automated, so sometimes different planners will, especially when you’re using Instagram.
You can schedule it, but you have to go back in and actually hit the button to post it with HootSuite. Everything is automated and they give you some key metrics. So there is some analytics involved. Basically, those are your basic features. Now, when you start moving up you, you can see here for yourself that you get to post on more profiles. You have three users now, as you can see, people who have agencies and they start a business posting for people.
That is when you want to start moving up: that’s why they called a team. So if you were running an agency or some kind of a huge enterprise, then you want it you’re going to move up in your program just do by yourself. This should suffice. Now, let’s look at buffer we’re going to compare the same thing. Buffer is $ 15 a month, a right away. You’re like well, that’s half the price. What are you getting for the price? If you move down a little bit, you can use eight accounts instead of ten.
Most of us don’t need ten, but here you only get a hundred scheduled posts. Now, if that meets your needs, that you’re posting less than a hundred posts in a month, maybe you’re not posting every day, you’re just doing it three or four times a week and using maybe five platforms, that’s only 20 posts so and one user that would meet Your needs and then that’s a great value, also you’re getting a 14-day free trial.
So you go in check it out. Compare them, don’t ever just jump in and buy without checking them out. First and the reason I’ll show you a reason on the next one. Why you want to do that, but the other thing was buffer. It has an app that you can use it on your phone and it’s really really really easy to use. It’s got a really easy to understand platform. So a lot of people choose buffer. For that reason, now you might say: well, you were just saying: HootSuite was good.
Hootsuite in my opinion, is the better option. If you’re looking to run an agency and and maybe more than you know, two or three people are in there working as a team, then that would definitely be the better value. Now, I’m going to show you one more, this is actually my favorite and it does cost a little bit more, but one of the things, the reason I tell you to research lumely offers you $ 25 a month if you pay for a year.
Well, you don’t want to just jump in and pay for a year without researching it. So that’s why I’m suggesting whatever social media platforms you’re looking at go in and use them for a little bit use them for 15 days or 30 days. Maybe even only pay for a month pay a little bit more make sure it’s the platform that you want to use. This is called the base and, if you’d like it, then go ahead and pay for a year and get a couple months for free here you can have two users now that I like, because maybe you have somebody that you’re paying to help you do your posting.
You can go in there and that other person can go in there as well for just $ 25 a month. That’s a steal. There’s 10 social media platforms. That’s awesome and your content is unlimited. So, for $ 25, a month instead of 29 unlimited to users, 10 platforms, just like HootSuite and another thing – is you’re. Adding some basic analytics they’ll, give you some basic analytics, not advanced, but they’ll give you some.
Let you count your likes and things like that. So you can kind of get an idea of what your post is doing. Of course, a lot of those analytics, especially on Facebook, are right there on Facebook as well. So you can kind of get an idea what you’re doing there is, so those are the three choices again. I want you to look at the value that you’re getting for your money and – and my vote goes to lumely – I’m going to put links for all three of them below.
I highly recommend you go in and look at all of the 14-day free trial or 30 day free trial. I handle marketing for addicts, which is a new domain registry. What we’re doing here is basically be on these new domain extensions, so you have that website. Yes, that store that holds that press space yeah. So these domains are quite cool right. They’re, amazing, I mean look at it, just just the fact that there’s so self-explanatory. Just if you have a dog tag, you already know what the website is about.
If you have a dot press, you know it’s going to be something to do with news journalism. If it’s a dot store, I don’t even need to tell you what’s going to be there on it? Yes, you have this. What happened like there was some kind of yes, so four years back, I can, which is the organization with hands. Policy for the internet, actually opened up applications for new domain registries or new domain extensions, and we were one of the companies that applied to them.
We applied a few of them and after that we had to go through a process in which some of them had. We, we had multiple applicants to them. For example, dot, tech and dot store are ones that we had come. Yes, we did actually not so actually was one of the ones that we competed with Google and Amazon and we wanted in an option. I mean that’s, it’s a it’s an option. It’s a closed option that we had to.
Basically, there is a condition about when you’re applying for the domain name. Obviously the I mean I can checks whether you have the technical capabilities and the financial capabilities to actually run the registry, but once that’s done, it’s basically the option. So what is radix? I have marketing for radix. Radix is a part of a bigger community known as direct. I direct a group of companies where based out of India – and this is what we do.
Radix is a domain name registry. We don’t have any offices in London UK, but we work worldwide through partners like GoDaddy name.Com, name, chief one and one one, two, three reg all the guys. So I think it’s very, very cool that there’s a new domain top-level domains, there’s lots of new ones. Yes, but how is it with pricing and are there any pretty ones so uh pricing for minister? First of all, let me get to all the questions that you ask.
The first one is yesterday a lot of new top-level domains. They about almost a thousand of them, but luckily we own some of the best ones right now we have eight. As of now we’re still acquiring more so the next one to come up would be dot fun, which would be launching somewhere and early next year. We’ll be launching that soon and we’ve already got it yeah there are a few. There are the Slovak not right now, there tons of them actually so yeah we own these, eight of them, we’ve already sold about and you’ll find, most of them doing really really well knocked over the latest and yeah we’ve got some really kick-ass websites on it already Is there any chance that you can see a business model or be allowed to give them out for free for people actually use them and somehow make money some other way? That’s uh! I mean we could, but are you companies good? But we wouldn’t look at that, because our core competence is in the domain names, I’m where you buy them and which TLD you’re looking at it can be priced anywhere from about a couple of dollars to about thirty to forty dollars zero.
So, for example, something like store might be more expensive because it’s commercial, correct, dot store is a little bit, I would say expensive, but it’s priced a little bit higher than maybe a dot site, and that’s because of not only its commercial. It’s also because of the audience that we’re looking at we’re looking at companies in in e-commerce in retail, so that target audience is much smaller and at the same time they much more serious.
We don’t want. We want to keep the pricing at such point. We’re not anyone just gets the name and uses it for anything. We want specific um companies to use. It only see the somebody’s usually price. Is it public what you paid for being the ones that own that pay it is. You can check it out tech. I think is public. The other ones. Aren’t I’m not too sure right now, so I wouldn’t want to command without exactly so.
When we apply for the domain extension, we actually put down our business plans and we submit those. So I can those have been reviewed. Some of them all our business plans are fine, because our business model is quite straightforward, but there are people who are doing something different with domain names, and you could do something else close, for example, there’s some people making money with that.
But let’s say I even sold a couple domains because people ask me yep. I wish they would not all these people that just buy domains – and just I know that’s uh – happens to all the babies. We cannot prevent it, but we do that. That’s where pricing comes into play, so that’s why we’re not going to price our domains really really low, or if we do, then we do get a lot of people buying them and just squatting on them.
That’s why some of our domains would be priced a little higher, like I said, not stored, our tech, not hosts. These will be priced higher so that, if that prevents people from actually buying them in stock and just sitting on them like have a system that there would be a way to use AI or whatever and buy go to do. An API to check is actually ever being used to just park. That’s not the best way to do it, because there are a lot of people who would want to buy the domain name for brand protection, say, for example, TechCrunch wants to protect all its breath.
Its brand across all extensions, they would still buy all the domain names but wouldn’t actually use them. That’s so that nobody else uses TechCrunch start store to sell there, someone else’s products on them, so that still is nobody should be allowed to take that code. So we have a process for that in place before we launch any TLD. We have a 60 day period called the sunrise period where only trademark holders are allowed to register.
But after that it needs to be open for shark. The web no domain so any domain. Sharks, but if there’s just more important in charge now on it, so I don’t think it’s affected the number of people actually swatting or actually purchasing domains just to hold on here in anyway. What we have done is actually given an opportunity for people who didn’t get domain names earlier to actually work on these domain names.
Now they can get the choice of domain name, that they want and actually build a business of it. So I think, in that way we’re definitely helping out all these startups are using. Oh yeah, that’s a brilliant uh. I can. I can name a few. We actually have a couple of startups using your Tegrity name over here. We have gone VTEC in whole, star tech in the style valley right now, and you can see a lot of them.
We had about 20 order of startups at Web Summit using our domain extensions and that’s growing everywhere. You’ll see people getting onto these extensions so that you can get the best name. How about these big guys? Do you know what they’re doing? Are they yet letting people to register all the ones that they got? Oh yes, so let me yeah couple of examples so, for example, dot store, it’s been used by NBA, so you go to NBA, dr.
PS, dot, tech and then they RCS web dot, orgy yeah, and that’s why it makes sense. Ces or tech tells you exactly what it is. They also free name their company, the CDA tech. So that’s uh, it’s basically everyone’s already using these extensions amongst all the sets, so depends where you’re, looking, what you mean by popular, if it’s just in terms of sales in terms of registration, is very different, because a lot of TL DS are being sold for very Low prices, amongst our own extensions, I can tell you that dot site is doing really well, it’s sold over 600,000 names or tech is sold over half a million names, that’s just launched was actually one of our biggest.
We sold thirty four thousand names in the first day itself, so all of them are doing really really well in totality. We’ve sold over two million names amongst these and you can see a lot of them already on there, like some 1 million ranking there’s so many people know everybody needs to the mail, it’s not nice that they have to. Yes, our one makes sense. People are not going to remember along the main name, so uncle makes and no one’s going to type it in or getting your short name is way difficult.
Now, intercom, oh and that’s where we come in that that’s something we can explore, but I don’t think that will help us in the large keep saying three times a radio. Okay, thanks cool! From now on, and today I got a music resource, slash tool called feature FM. Some of you guys might have heard of this I’ve heard of a good minute ago, actually through a lot of clients having success through it, which made me want to look into it.
More didn’t want to do a article until I had personal time to go in and do my own campaigns in the back end, which I will be showing you in this article, and I also have a cool way for you guys to get 500 free plays on The platform, but I’m not going to talk about that to the end of the article either, because I want to make sure I go through basically what it is, what I think the best ways to use it are.
Let you guys decide whether or not you’re using the platform from there, but first, let’s talk about what feature FM is now the way they describe themselves is, basically, they say: they’re reaching music fans while they’re discovering music and that’s super important. What I love about the platform actually, but what I’m going to go over in this particular article is two different versions of something that they call sponsored song campaigns and, in my mind, is so powerful because it should be the future of streaming campaign marketing.
So what that basically is is when they say that you reach music fans while they’re discovering music. Imagine you’re listening to music on soundcloud or listen to music on Spotify in particular, something like that, while you’re listening in songs, maybe an album finishes, they usually go into other songs right. They can make your song one of those songs that on Spotify will get it to that, but that’s basically how it works.
It’s organic is natural just how these music stations are basically like radio stations like Pandora, and things like that. Your songs will be one of those songs that begins to play and it’s the full song – it’s not a snippet, so it plays just like any other song. Maybe that’s why they call it feature FM, because it’s like a regular song on a radio station. I don’t know that maybe that’s where it came from, but it’s super powerful, because when someone hears the song, their interaction from there is based solely on the music, as opposed to maybe a Facebook campaign, or something like that.
Where you battling all this other stuff, you got means you got so many articles, you got people’s Facebook statuses same on Instagram and these other websites, it’s just the music, is auditory and your song is actually the only song playing just like the any streaming service right. They play one song at a time, so those of you decide to use something like this. I hope their music is on point now.
Let’s hop right into the back end of me doing one of my campaigns, I’m going to switch to the screen share of you for this all right everybody. This is basically what the back end a feature looks like I’m after you at an artist or two. Now me, I am NOT an artist obviously, and I’m not going to be running campaigns trying to advertise the you know: YouTube advice, articles on a playlist, so what I did was basically say: hey, I’m going to put about $ 160 into this, which artist do I Want to get, I got an artist that I work with many on emo I’ll.
Tell you guys more about that situation later, haven’t done anything as far as big campaigns, yet so it’s a little irrelevant now. So, let’s stop into this, though, and I want to show you two specific type of types of campaigns. The first campaign I want to show you is a campaign that runs on a website called eight tracks. We just want to feature that famous partners. I don’t like this one as much and I’ll tell you why, but I want to show it everybody and then I’ll you know, show you the other results for the second type of campaign as well.
So the first song, let’s say: f it up this song right here: okay, twenty-four dollars put into this campaign, 0.49 % engagement rate in three engagements out of six hundred and eleven plays pretty low, and it’s not worth my time. In my opinion, you know I got three engagements twenty dollars and granting six hundred plays and then most of the plays like Canada, ten work in the United States, which is not ideal when this artist is in the United States, a big benefit of this campaign.
If it’s a, I got us about six hundred eleven plays on that song. These plays are actually working on your SoundCloud. So what feature FM does is, while it’s running on this website, eight tracks, which is basically a website where people just make playlist after playlist, and it runs that campaign you can actually use the URL from your soundcloud song. So all the plays. Actually, you add it to the plays in your sounds, so only about half of these are organic.
Soundcloud plays the rest of them are for an ads, which can be a beneficial thing for those people who are just trying to get their plays up on soundcloud, especially the people who say yeah. I want to get a decent amount just for social proof, so people don’t think hey nobody likes this song. Well, it’s better to at least do eggs where you have real people do plays, especially since it’s relatively inexpensive, as opposed to paying somebody for completely fake, plays and then having the same number.
If you’re going to pay $ 20 to get, let’s just say six hundred or a thousand plays, it might as well pay for real people to hear it, even though, on the back end, in my opinion, it’s not as effective as worth it. When you look at the engagement rate, but I’m going to go ahead and show you the second type of campaign, so there’s other campaign that runs on a website called beaser, which is basically Spotify.
But it’s a lot more prevalent in Europe in other countries than the US, but it’s actually moving and growing into the u.S. They’ll be I’ll show you proof that in my results, so look at these plays for one twenty two dollars I got me 1128 plays versus Twenty dollars only getting me about six hundred plays for the 8tracks campaign, so that means it’s actually less expensive to do a Deezer campaign. But on top of that, this is what I really like the engagements.
I got. Sixty nine engagements six point: twelve percent engagement rate versus a point, forty nine percent engagement rates and a lot of that from what I’m seeing is, in my opinion, also just from how the campaigns are set up on the website. There’s no way for somebody to really natively interact with the song on eight tracks. Since the song is actually playing for a SoundCloud, they can’t add it to platelets and things like that, whereas on Deezer I could move it around just so you can get a better idea and see it.
This is these: are it’s playing on Deezer because it had got added on to be there. So now it’s a song on Deezer. When the ad runs on it, people can actually add it to their playlists. They can actually put press the favorite button and say I love this song and I’ll get to show you the results of that right here. So look this engagement breakdown. Remember the other. One only had three engagements period: the 8tracks campaign, the Deezer campaign.
This is off of what $ 27. If I remember correctly – and I got 35 add to the favorites playlist, then I got 27 adds to people’s playlist additions. If you’re wondering what the difference between these two types of playlists is, the favorites playlist is basically you being on Deezer. You press the heart button when the song plays, because you like it, and that means whatever someone wants to go, listen to a playlist of everything that they push the heart button on, that song will be there.
The playlist addition is somebody saying I love this song. I want to add it to a playlist so like a listen to it later, and I want to put it on a specific playlist. So that’s great for $ 27 you’re talking about thirty five favorites playlist and 27 regular playlist additions, and then you have album page views. So if you go look at these results, this album ended up getting five fans and her as an artist.
She has 13 fans, and this is only in a week, week-and-a-half being on his website. That’s why this the avatar is not even there, and I just ran these campaigns from these campaigns. 13 fans, 5 fans of the actual project. So right off the back. You already know that the campaign on Deezer is a lot better than the 8tracks campaign, but you know rub that point in you can look right here. Ciccone 500 plays engagements right and that was for $ 20.
I maybe was thinking spent seven more dollars on the Deezer version of the saucony, but seven more dollars to have 800 more plays that doesn’t add up so that lets me know for one these, our campaigns are cheaper than eight-track campaigns. Also, the engagements going to be better. I got 105 engagements for this Kony song for $ 27. All right, that’s crazy! Click on these results and what I like about them is all right: 7.
5 percent engagement rate. But on top of that, what I love about the playlist Editions. It means that people are going to listen to it again and again when they go back to these playlists 42. Regular playlist editions. This one got me one artist page view. So that means someone looked at the actual artist page. Remember I showed you. She had 13 fans of our artist page and then I got one out of 12 16 out on page views and then what’s really cool here is this is letting you know.
There’s people 76 people skip the song at 69 seconds. One person skipped that 56 seconds. You can see these results all throughout the songs and then you can also look at engagements all right. Let me get rid of the skips, so you’re, seeing one person engaged at one minute 56 seconds. Three people engaged at that period of time. 245. This kind of stuff can help you figure out, what’s the best part of a song, to run a commercial on as well.
So I love the data today give, but even more than that, I love the playlists editions and that’s why this part and this kind of campaign is way better than running the eight tracks campaign. Also, I mentioned that traditionally Deezer is more popular in other countries, but you can look at this because I did targeted towards the United States. I just targeted two United Kingdom and United States. I don’t know how that one, Israel plate slipped in there, but it did somebody judge me.
You see five hundred and thirty six people in the United States. That’s still a pretty solid number. Considering I got thirty engagements, we’ll just I’ll show you the epitope campaign, one more time. Oh, and actually I forgot once the song did pretty well around twenty dollars. I decided to keep going all the way to eighty two dollars and 82 cents, and these are the full results. So what that got me was 4141 plays 297 engagements, seven point one four: seven point: 17 percent engagement rate.
Of course, these results are not necessarily equivalent to what everybody would get some people who might have a song – that’s just better than this, for whatever reason or people like it more so they might have a higher engagement rate and some people. They might have a song that nobody likes and they might have a 0 % or a point for a non-person and, like the other 8tracks website, who knows, I can’t guarantee those, but what I do like is for one course.
This website is legitimate spent plenty of time making sure that and then has several clients get good results from it so really quickly. I want to go ahead and run through one of these campaigns as far as setup, just to show you guys what it looks like you got to name the campaign upload. The song it’ll have options where you chose to do it on something like a Deezer, where the song will kind of pop up automatically.
You can advertise the song, but then you also have the target audience right. I chose United Kingdom and United States for this to age genres. That stuff is all kind of straightforward. The interesting part is you’re, choosing these people and your targets by similar artists, as opposed to doing some of the other types of demographics, and then, lastly, you choose your budget. What do you spend daily and that’s pretty much it for the campaigns it’s pretty straight forward, but still want to show you guys.
They also do show you an estimate that you’ll get from running the campaign before it rhymes. This number has been pretty accurate. I’r so far, alright guys, I should give you a pretty decent idea of feature FM what it is I’ll be going over one of their other tools later in another article. I did tell you that I do have a way for you guys to get a 500 free place on the platform I reached out to them.

Today I want to talk about how to run Google ads as an affiliate marketer. I’ve spent nearly 4 million US dollars on Google ads as an affiliate marketer and today I want to show you inside how I set up campaigns and how I set up all of the settings inside and choose offers that will convert for affiliates. Now a lot of people think affiliate. Marketers are not welcome on Google ads, but today I’m going to prove that wrong.
We’re going to talk about Google search ads in particular today, I’m going to show you how I, as an affiliate, marketer, not an agency running ads for other companies locally or anything like that. I am an affiliate, I’m running affiliate offers and I’m going to show you exactly what needs to be done if you want to do the same thing now, if you’re, just starting out, let’s think about that for a second, I’ve ran roughly four million now on US Dollars I quit my job in 2015, thanks to Google search ads, mainly because Google search ads has been one of the major traffic sources for me in addition to Facebook and native ads.
Ok, so at 4 million roughly the profit on that was 60 to 70 percent. So if you think about it, it’s roughly 2 million US dollars just conservatively will say so for me to work in a corporate job for for, however, many years it takes to get that I was it. I was making about 50 thousand a year at my corporate job. When I decided to quit in 2015, it would have taken me roughly 20 years or more to accumulate that type of revenue.
Ok, so Google search ads is an extremely great opportunity for anyone who wants to really focus on paid traffic. I think it’s one of the best traffic sources out there, but there’s really a lot to it. So if you are starting out – and you want to learn how to make money online, I think this article is great for you, because I’m going to go through the steps. Ok, so, first of all, with with Google search ads, you really need to have a high quality website.
That is the secret. Ok, if you’re, just starting out and you have a Google search ads account and you just go in there and you start setting up direct link campaigns to affiliate links, or you start running these shady little offers or shady little strategies that you’re reading from gurus out There who are teaching you these methods that don’t work, it’s not going to work for you, you’re, going to lose your Google Ads account and you do not want to lose your Google Ads account.
So read this entire article. So you understand what you need to know before you lose your Google Ads account as an affiliate marketer. So now that we have that out of the way, let’s talk about the first thing we need to do and I’m going to get into my computer here in a minute. But first let me talk about few of the the basics. Okay. First of all, you need to choose an offer that is compliant with the Google search policies. Okay, you can’t run aggressive diet ads. You can’t run casino loans. Personal loans probably won’t work for you, so it’s try and steer clear of that.
I’ve had most success, running health-related offers as well as financial related offers, software’s business to business software tools. All of that stuff really works well as an affiliate marketer, but you have to do it while you also have a full-blown website. Okay. So if you’re, just starting out, we have a free training course at powerhouse Affiliate that walks you through step-by-step how to build a thority and authority website, so that you have a bunch of content.
First, on your website, it teaches you about the organic traffic, how to get traffic from search engines. So when people are searching for something, your website comes up in the search results for free organically. Once you have that established and you’ve gone through that training, and you have a website in your niche that you’ve chosen and you have an audience and it’s compliant with Google search ads.
Then it’s time to start thinking about paid search ads so that you show up in the search results, no matter what, whether you rank or not you’re going to be in the search results for whatever you’re targeting for a keyword. So we’re going to get into my computer now I’m going to talk about how I pick the keywords that I target, how I set my bidding strategies, the ad group structures and some examples of good websites that you could use as an affiliate marketer, while you’re doing Search ads on Google, okay, welcome to inside of my computer here is inside one of my Google Ads accounts.
I just want to show you that I have in fact spent millions of dollars in search ads. This is one of my Google Ads accounts for those of you out there. Who often ask me if this is real. Yes, it’s real for the purpose of this article though, and the instructional part of it I’m going to use a separate account just so I don’t have to keep blurring out all of the data that is inside this current account, so we’re going to use this account.
I’r going to come in here I’m going to show you basically in this article and talk about the policy for affiliates that you need to follow to talk about strategies for choosing your campaign, we’re going to talk about setup and some of the strategies I use for Finding keywords and other things like that: okay, so first, the first thing we need to consider is the policy itself basically come in to the Google Ads policy.
Read them all over here before you even start running ads. It’s very important. If you spend more than say 25 to 30 thousand dollars, these policies still are in effect, however, you get assigned a Account Manager which will help you to determine if your new policy or your new ads that you want to set up or your new campaigns are In fact, compliant it helps to have somebody on the inside, but usually that doesn’t come until you spend several thousand dollars with Google one of the biggest policies we as affiliates have a challenge with.
Is this one rate here that we talked about destinations that are solely designed to send users elsewhere? That is what affiliate marketing is. That is why people think Google hates affiliates it’s basically, because we send people to a landing page. We send them to an offer that we do not own, and that is basically breaking the rules. So how do we fix this? How do we as affiliates run paid search ads? Well, it’s actually not that hard.
The first strategy is, you can simply do a lead generation style campaign which is actually the best way to go. In my opinion, you’re building yourself an email list. We go through a lot of this inside one of our courses inside power hose Affiliate. Where we talk about email, marketing, setting up your your freebie, that you want to give somebody and then they sign up to your email list and then you can email them whatever you want after and I’m going to show you an example of that here.
In a second, the other option is to actually partner directly with the offer owner and have them set up a specific domain only for you, okay, so that means they will set up the domain. You really need to have a good relationship with your partner. They will set up a domain, they’ll put their product on there, they’ll put the sales check out and all of that in that domain. So now you can run ads specifically for you and every time you get a conversion or sale.
It will be tracked on that site. Okay. That is the only two ways I can think of. If you have other ways that you can get past these policies, please comment below share your experience and tell us what you’re doing, because I’m sure a lot of people would benefit from that information. But these two basic strategies do work. So, let’s go through a little bit more now and talk about some examples, so what I would do first, if I was an affiliate marketer and I wanted to start an affiliate campaign and the first thing you do is obviously find an offer that is compliant.
So you don’t want to be running any gambling. You don’t want to run anything in terms of loans. You can read all of this stuff here and you’ll, get more information as to what you can run. But if you come in to Clickbank Clickbank is a big marketplace. I’ve done articles on it before check out my youtube blog. What you can do is you can come into the marketplace, so I figured for an example. I would talk about business and investing.
I don’t recommend you go into how to make money online trust me it. Even though I do that myself and I my niche is around affiliate marketing. I highly recommend you do not start with how to make money online and run it on Google Ads you’re. Just going to get banned, it’s the same as Facebook. You go in with these big niches that everyone is running and basically they’ve already been so beaten down that they these big ad, these big ad Giants, just don’t like it anymore, so don’t even bother until you have a lot of spend and you’ve talked to an Actual rep and you’ve been assigned a rep so that you can start doing things that are a little more risky, but at the same time you have someone on the inside who can help you get stuff approved.
So let’s just talk. Let’s say you find an offer. You come into the marketplace here. There are tons of categories you can select here. So whatever your niche is, I’m sure you’ll find something on here. There’s tons of good ones. You can do stuff on parenting, fishing, home and garden health and wellness green products, a whole bunch of different things. You can run here and you can build your own website around.
You can build a niche specific website check out the free training at powerhouse affiliate com, where we show you exactly every single step along the way to build a niche website, because I said before you need to have your website with a of good content, or else Face or Google here is just going to wipe you out so make sure you have a lot of good content on your site. Related to your niche now come into yours category here and let’s say I have a website around investing I’m going to sort the results by gravity and, as you can see, one of the top offers here being promoted by affiliates is paying out about three hundred and Sixty nine dollars per sale.
Now, let’s assume I only get a one percent conversion rate. That means a hundred people that I send to this offer. I get a conversion, let’s just say that that’s a good conservative number. That means I make three hundred sixty nine dollars for every one hundred clicks, which is a 369 three dollars or sixty nine cents, earnings per click. So now what I need to do is figure out how many subscribers it’s going to take for me to get that hundred clicks.
Usually, if you have a list of subscribers, let’s say 50 subscribers, I can send them as many messages as I want over weeks and months and years as long as I’m sending them good content, they’re going to click on this offer. So really, let’s just say I get a hundred leads and out of those hundred leads, I get three people to sign up to this, I’m going to make a thousand bucks, roughly just forgetting three people to sign up to this training program that is, training people on How to invest so really, if I’m, if I’m spending say even ten or twenty dollars per lead on Google, it’s still going to work out profitable for me because I would say, spend six hundred dollars for my hundred leads, which is super expensive for leads.
Okay, I’m just telling you an example here: if I’m buying leads for 20 bucks, that’s super expensive. You can get them so much cheaper. In fact, you can get leads for $ 1. A piece in somebody says you can get them even less than a dollar depending on what country you’re in. Even you can go down to pennies per lead and now you’ve got this big email list. You’re building and now you can send them these offers compliantly.
So, let’s assume I want to run this offer. The next thing you need to do is: do some research. What are other people doing? How are they running offers like this in this niche? So the first thing I would do is simply just go to Google itself and do a search for whatever you you want to promote. So in this case I went to Google and I searched investing guide. Okay, I want to learn how to buy investments.
Right now is a great time for that, because the caught the economy is really down it’s time to buy okay, a lot of people who think the economy is going to go back to normal, which it will eventually it’s now’s the time to look at doing stock Market investing – and this is probably where I would start if I was anyone in the world – I would come to Google and search for maybe an investing guide or something like that.
So whoever it bid on this keyword on their ads is now going to be able to show their ad and, as you can see here, you can see there’s a beginner’s guide here by udemy and there’s one here by fool dot CA. So if I click on this – and it goes to their landing page as you can see, it’s sent directly to their landing page, and this is a it’s more like a listicle style page and i’ve done a article on listicles and why they are so effective.
And why you should really consider doing a listicle, especially for google, as you can see they’re talking here and it comes down to an email capture, form they’re, doing exactly what I just said: okay, it’s the same exact thing, they’re collecting leads and now, in the back End they are either going to try and sell you their membership program or they’re going to send you affiliate links all the time related to guides different things you can get in the investment community, they’re, probably going to get you to sign up to a bank somewhere That has you know great trading software and they’re going to get paid commissions every single time, so they are in fact a product owner.
I know this is a fact, but at the same time they’re going to be sending you content they’re going to be sending you links out to affiliate products and everything else along the way. So you are in fact joining their list if you do that. So this is the strategy they use and it’s the strategy I use, and this is how affiliate marketers can run on Google now, let’s talk quickly about how to set up your campaign for maximum results and how to use the actual tools inside Google to make this Super easy for yourself, so another thing you should do also once you’ve done this initial research and you found a few competitors you’re going to want to take those competitor domains likes a fool, dot, CA and go into a tool like SEM rush.

It’ll show you everything. This is perfect for you to come in and see what is actually happening. So just have a look here at what I can see now, just by looking at this domain. I can now see all of their ads everything.
This is amazing. That’s a great tool: now I can see everything that’s happening. I can go in and see their landing pages. I can go see how they’re beating at the policy how they’re actually not beating it they’re, actually adhering to the policy, and then I can even join their list and see all the messages they’re sending to people. I built my website that is fully compliant with Google. I have a ton of great content now. It’s time I build my squeeze page or listicle or whatever it is that we’re going to use for technically a landing page.
But it’s not really a landing page in terms of how generally affiliates would set up a landing page to link out to some offer. That is not what we’re doing here, we’re going to delay that gratification for later so coming in, to your account, one great way to find keywords again is with this tool. If you come in here, you can see positions tab and it’s going to show you all of the keywords they are bidding on in their in their ad campaigns.
So really a great tool again to show you all of those keywords. It’s just starting to populate now and, as you can see, I can see all of what they’re bidding on they’re bidding on fool fool dossier: how to buy stocks in Canada, stocks to buy, how to invest blah-blah-blah-blah-blah right, there’s just so many keywords that I could steal Right here, just by exporting them into a file and adding them to my campaign, here’s the export button – and I could just do that if I wanted another great way to find keywords – is to come directly into the Google tool and click on keyword planner.
Now, what I’ll generally do is, I will discover new keywords and I’ll start with the website, so I’m going to take the offer that I’m actually promoting. So in this case, I will click on this link to see where I’m going and I’m going to take this domain right here and I’m going to plug it into Google so that I can get some great results. So here we go. I’r going to paste that in start with a website go here, click get results and now it’s going to show me a bunch of keywords.
Look at this there’s just so many keywords I think there’s two hundred and ninety five keyword ideas. So how many keywords would you actually use in your campaign depending on what your budget is? Really it really matters? So if you have a budget of say a hundred dollars per day, I would start with say: 50 keywords maximum, so you’re going to come in here and you’re going to look for keywords that you think are going to be keywords that people would search if they’re, Actually going to be trying to buy your product, so this one in this case, Google suggests that these are the types of keywords related to this website.
So it only makes sense to kind of pick keywords from this list. Say: 50 keywords that you think you can find you can. You can arrange these based on the top bid or the lowest bid. So three bucks Canadian, is the highest bid and if you, if you sort it the other way and then 46 cents, I think it was 46 cents, here’s the low bid. These are Canadian figures. So it’s going to be about half that almost or like a little more than half so about 70 %, so in this case for 46 cents, in probably around 33 cents, we’ll say 32 cents.
So really the cost per click here is is working. So if I had to spend say $ 100, I should get roughly 50 clicks of those 50 clicks. I want about a five to ten percent subscriber rate, so I would get about 10 subscribers for 50 bucks, safe five bucks per subscriber – that’s a realistic number here. So let’s say I’m paying $ 5 per subscriber and I’m getting 369 dollar payout on the offer. Then really it’s the math here works out.
Well, so I think it’s it’s a potential winner. If you just do the math and you do the research and bald first so that you can understand exactly what’s going on first, because you have all of this information available to you, you have the ads. You have the positions of the keywords, the keywords they’re, focusing on really that’s how easy it is, and this can be done in any single niche. Now, let’s assume you have your keywords: let’s just go through a couple settings: I’m not going to go through setting up an entire campaign on Google, it’s really or step by step walkthrough, but there are a couple of things that are really important when you’re setting up Your campaign for the first time, so, let’s have a look, let’s create a new campaign here and look at some of the things.
So what I generally focus on is leads. You can also do sales if you’re, if you’re, actually selling a product that you own that works well website. Traffic is okay, you’re going to get a bunch of traffic, but it doesn’t necessarily convert. My goal here is to get leads, so I’m going to collect leads and I’m going to select search. There are other ads, obviously that you can choose, but let’s just focus on search today, we’re going to go for website visits and here’s where you’re going to put your actual website.
This is where you’re sending traffic to this is where they’re going to subscribe, and the Thank You page after they’ve subscribed is going to be fully compliant and it’s going to be on this domain as well, so make sure everything matches so that you do not break The rules of Google and start sending people to an offer page continue. You can, you can install your tracking code. This is important if you wanted to track leads, you have to track your leads.
This is a very important piece of code and you want to put that on your thank-you page, so it tells Google every time you get a conversion. Every time you get a lead, it’s going to tell Google where that lead came from. So you need to put that code on the Thank You page, that’s important as well continuing on a couple more features that are important here. When setting up your first campaign, you want to turn off Google search partners on your initial test.
Google search partners is basically not Google site. It’s not coming directly from Google is coming from partner sites who have the search feature included and they feed their results with Google. It’s just not good quality traffic compared to people who would literally go to Google and search. So turn that off, unless you want to use it later, SEP separate this into a different campaign altogether do not run Google search partners at the same time as just plain search network traffic from Google.
Okay, turn off your Display Network run that separately as well. Never combined, in my opinion, it doesn’t work. You want to keep each campaign separate and you can duplicate your campaigns for each of these. After coming in select your location, it’s going to spread your budget across many countries. If you don’t change this, you want this. One people in or regularly in your target location. So if you’re running an offer that only accepts US traffic, then you want to select this okay.
If you’re running an offer on Clickbank which usually takes any country, you can always leave this open and just kind of take people from anywhere, but I like to select and know where my traffic is coming from directly English. Leave that nothing major here. So here’s the important stuff about bidding and budget and then I’m going to show you one more thing after this and then that’s it. Okay, if you have any questions or comments, please just post them below budget.
Let’s say we have $ 100 per day. A budget here is where the bidding really matters. Now, when you’re first starting out your campaign, you don’t want to start with a target CPA. You don’t want to start with automated bidding. In my opinion, I’ve done a complete article on how I lost ten thousand dollars on Google. You can check it out I’ll pop it up here. It talks about this bid strategy. What happens when you switch your budget and switch your bidding on the fly? Okay, yeah? I made a big mistake, one time and learn my lesson, but basically what I would do here start with a conservative bit, but you want to select a different bid strategy here right now.
We don’t have any conversion data, so Google can’t set bids based on conversions. Yet because we haven’t given Google any conversions yet so if you set up target CPA right now, the automated bid strategy just won’t, have any data. Google will tell you later when it’s time to turn it on in your recommendations. It’ll tell you, it’ll have a little pop-up here you can see. I have a red bar across the top here.
That says, I’m not running any ads. Well, that would say something like hey you’re ready to turn on target CPA, but don’t turn on yet I usually start with a manual cost per click, and I might set this to help increase conversions later once a conversion comes in, but right now manual, cost per Click is what I will start with, and you’re also going to want to add sitelink extensions, call-outs and call extensions if you can, because this increases your click-through rates on your Google ads, and you can find all of these simply by going back into seeing what their Ads look like, and you can see, basically what their extensions look like, and what you’re going to be looking for here is stuff like this.
These little last pieces of their ads top-rated stock pickers 25-year history, new stock picks top stock picks to buy. These are little snippets that they’re putting in right inside their Google ads setting under sitelink extensions or call-outs. These are, like you know, click here to get act. Download for free get instant access, learn from the pros or whatever you want to put here, for your extensions and that’ll increase your click-through rates again, bringing your cost per click down, and these are a few strategies I use when setting up my ads. Ok, so once your ad is actually running you’re, going to start seeing conversions in the conversion column assuming you’ve set up conversions if you want to set up other conversions, I’ve come back into the other account by the way, because I want to show you some actual Data, but if you come in and you click on tools, you can create conversions right up here and you can create anything as a conversion and whenever somebody lands on a particular page on your website, you can fire that conversion pixel to tell Google you got that Conversion, so you can optimize your campaigns to whatever you want in this case, as you can see, I have several ad groups in this one.
I have seven ad groups all catered around specific keywords in my niche. Each of the ads in those ad groups focuses on the keyword bunch or whatever you want to call it. That’s a a group or cluster of keywords in each side, in each one of these ad groups and they’re catered around the specific ads now the landing pages. As well can you can go as a step further and each of your landing pages can be specific to the ads and AD group.
So this is how you do it eventually you’re going to see conversions now, one last trick before I leave this article. I want to show you how to find super highly profitable keywords. If you come into your keywords over on the left side and you click on search terms, it’s going to show you all of the keywords that people actually searched, not the keywords that you bid on. So if you have a broad match selection ad group, which I do have, I have one of my ad groups, which I call the Discovery ad group.
It’s set to broad match. All of my keywords in there are set to broad meaning. Now Google is going to show my ad to people if it even relates closely to the keyword that I’m bidding on now. I can come in to my search terms, report and see all of the keywords that people are searching and I’m not bidding on, because in this added / excluded column you can see. I have some that say added. That means I do have that keyword in my campaign, but then this one says none, which means this keyword got a hundred and twenty two conversions, and I don’t even have it added in to my campaign.
So I need to add these immediately into my campaign so that Google starts to optimize towards those specific keywords and then later I’ll I’ll be able to come in here and see that it’ll be added to my campaign. So there’s a ton of them up here that have conversions and this I do every single week or month I’ll come in here, depending on how much time I have – and I will come here and change it so that it’s added to my campaign – and it’s not Just being picked up through a bawd broad match, identifier, okay, so that is important here, because I want to have it in my campaign.
I don’t want it just to be triggered on a broad match, so that is a key trick to finding more keywords for your campaign. Both of them are social media management tools, but there’s a lot of differences and in my email marketing group I had several people. Ask me: what is the difference? These are two of the more popular programs that people use and they just wanted to know.
What’s the difference is one better than the other. Is it just a price thing and it really is they’re both really different, and it really depends on what your needs are and I have started a playlist where I’m reviewing several different social media management tools and you can see the link below so you can go In there and look, but one of the things you need to do before you start, your research is decide.
What am I looking for? What is the platform that I’m using how many times a day and my posting and make sure you even need a platform? And then then, as you start looking, then you can see if it’s meeting your needs and one of the advantages of having a tool is that you can post all in one big chunk of time when you first start out with your new business you’re finding out That, oh, my gosh, there’s all these different tasks that I have to do, and we all do this in the beginning.
We try to do all the tasks ourself and we try to do all of the tasks as daily and what I recommend that you do is start chunking your activities. If you can’t hire somebody to help you if you’re not at that point yet then start chunking. Your activities, and what do I mean by that? What you need to do is decide I’m going to take all day one day and I’m going to post everything into a tool, a management tool where I can put all my posts in there, maybe for the whole month.
If it seems daunting, then only do a month, but you might even say you know what I’m going to do two months. It just depends on how quick you are, but you should be able to get 30 days worth of done in a day, but then they’re done for the whole month. Then you go. Do it again for another month and then in another month. Well then, you don’t have to keep on coming up with new content. At that point, you start recycling in so every 90 days, yep the same posts are going out because people don’t remember what they’re seeing they don’t see, every single post that you put out now.
What you can do to keep it fresh is maybe say: okay, I’m going to recycle everything from three months ago, but here and there I’m going to insert something new and current and that’s okay, but it’s not as time-consuming so that eight-hour job might turn into a Two hour job for you and that’s where you start saving time and that’s where you start building your business, but that’s called chunking your time so think about that for all of your tasks that you need to do for your business.
How much of it can I Chum? I know with articles. I remember when I did my first one. It took me all day long and then I got to the point where I could do two into two in a day and then three and then four and I know people that will sit down and do 20 30 articles in a day. I am not at that point, there’s no way, but they do there they’re so good at it. They know how to focus. They know exactly what they want to talk about, and they just knock them out, and then they might send them to somebody else to post them and everything for them or upload them.
But anyway, that just gives you an idea of what that chunking. Your time is and how that can be a time saver and help you be more organized, more productive, so let’s go ahead and do a quick review of what’s the difference between them. Hootsuite and again, I made a article on each of these to tell you these. You know exactly what they were, so there’s more details, go into the playlist and find them, but basically that ten dollars isn’t true anymore.
I forgot to cross it off, but anyway you. This is the best thing about HootSuite. You have an unlimited number of social profiles. You can put this on as many as you want and and there’s several different ones and you can have access for you and a team member, and this is for their pro account, they’re a bigger account. I think now it’s like twenty nine dollars a month when I just look the other day.
So there is analytic reporting, but with the reporting you do get a free one and then, after that you have to start paying for it. They do have monitoring, publishing tools and unlimited apps that go with it, so you can post on the go. Do it from your phone? It doesn’t have to be from your laptop, so that’s just a quick review of what that does. Alright, so sprout social. I consider it an all-in-one kind of like one-stop shop.
If that makes sense, HootSuite is publishing for you, but they’re not really getting into engage and analyzing things like that and helping you track. People that are following you and things like that. We’re sprout social does do that. They’re. The reporting tools are much more comprehensive and they’re they’re helping you become more engaging as well as just scheduling so that it goes. It goes deeper, but there aren’t as many profiles that it or platforms that it serves.
You can see here that they serve Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Google, so it depends on what you’re looking for so here I have. What does social sprout social have that HootSuite does not sprout, has a cue button for bookmarking and sharing content kind of like buffer does, or you can literally just keep everything in a queue so that you can recycle it and move it around in things like that, Which I love that feature, because I want to recycle my stuff.
It has a CRM tool, I’m for keeping track of your people. What is that? It’s basically a tool where you have a person’s name, I’m just going to say it in layman’s terms. You have a person’s name and anything that you can keep track of them to help. You get to know that person better so think of all the old fashion days, when people would keep like a an index card and put the customer’s name and all the information to help them be able to serve that customer.
So that’s what CRM is and it keeps track of it kind of like an Excel type sheet. It has a very nice design, who’s sweet does not, and all of the analytical analytics are included. Now, I’m going to say free, but they’re included, you don’t have to pay extra to get extra reports. We’re HootSuite will offer you one report in that pro account and this one you get everything, because this account actually sprout social, the lowest account they have is $ 99, where HootSuite is 29, so it just really depends on what you’re.
Looking for now, the nice thing about HootSuite, if you’re massively producing content – and you really need to get it out there and save time – it’s called bulk scheduling and you can do up to 50 posts at a time just hit that button get them out. So if you’ve got a massive amount to do, this probably would be better. The pro account has an unlimited social profile and ass. It’s the pro account I believe it was $ 29.
99. There is an unlimited social profiles I’ll see. I repeated that because many many many of these social media accounts management tools do not have unlimited profiles a lot of times. They’ll say you can only put 10. Some of them are just 3 and the more you get the more you pay. So they right there at the bottom level, they let you have an unlimited amount, which is amazing visually and they were talking about how sprout social is prettier easier to use.
Here’s an example: now this is a I’m going to compare. It really depends on you, but they have like a single column view of all your posts. Ok, so you’ll see Twitter and then you can see all your Twitter posts, so you can’t really see all of them at once. You can just go into one account at a time where HootSuite. No, I like this feature, you can go in its multi column, but you can go in and see all of them at once.
So you see, there’s two different Twitter accounts, two different Facebook accounts and you can see all your posts. What am I posting today? So you can bring up the day and you can see visually globally everything that you’re posting and being a global person. I like that feature, because I want to make sure: okay, I’m really posting well today. Maybe when you were scheduling you might have missed a day or something so it’s kind of like a double check.
You can go back and pull it up in the morning. Okay, we’re good to go and then you move on and do something else, and that would take you all of maybe three minutes all right. So that’s in a nutshell, the difference. It really depends on what you’re looking for. So I asked why, wouldn’t he sell his services and earn money to buy a drone, but how can I sell my services? He asked: let’s talk about how to sell your services whatever they are. I was a freelancer for nine years, so I know that struggle is real, especially in the beginning, when you don’t completely know what you want to do, what are your strongest sides? Who is your client and what that client wants a bit of autobiography? I wasn’t always a VFX artist.
In fact, I was really distanced from any kind of tricky stuff. I started my journey in Photoshop. I was doing web designs at first and the first thing I ever sold was a redesign of hip hop or not even on an entire design, but some elements like hero, image, icons, buttons and stuff, like that earned my first $ 50. It wasn’t even an online day the guy who ordered that was someone I knew, and he knew I was doing some stuff in Photoshop.
So what is it all about? Pointers start small. If you know anyone who needs design of any kind talk to them, offer your services for cheap. These happy clients will spread the word and you will start getting more and more projects. On my own example, the guy I just mentioned was happy was with what I did for them and they started to order posters for every event. They have for $ 50 each and it was super awesome for a school boy over time.
Other people started to ask me to do stuff for them all sort of things. Business cards logos, web designs, posters: this is how word-of-mouth works, and this is how you build your real reputation. Word-Of-Mouth is great, but in order to get more and bigger clients, you need a portfolio to showcase your current level. It isn’t the challenging in the very beginning when you don’t have any clients. Yet my solution was simple and I’m pretty sure that’s what a lot of you are doing.
Anyway, I was making logos, websites and all that stuff that I already mentioned for fictional clients, and that way it was a good practice for me as well as I was able to build my portfolio, it’s a perfect way of doing it, because you don’t have any Limits or guidelines to follow you can showcase all you got at its best, so do it as much as you can, because clients work is rarely something you would want to put in your showroom or portfolio clients.
Work is a strong mix of their desires. Your resistance, shitty compromises, because, in the end of day, client has to be happy, and this is a rule. Clients happiness in your reputation are too closely connected. Things always always always finish your job as good as you can, while good feedbacks will slowly pull you forward. One bad feedback will throw you back really painfully where to showcase your portfolio.
A while ago, I had a really good custom-made website. It was my design executed by a really talented front-end developer. But when I was changing my brand, I got rid of website and lost that source fast. I don’t know what I was thinking about, but I remember I wanted more flexibility across multiple platforms, so I used Behance portfolio service for a while. Nowadays, I believe it’s free for anyone.
Who’s subscribed to Adobe software. Great thing about this service is that it’s linked to your Behance page. So whatever you upload to be hands automatically appears on your website. It’s actually really convenient, so much convenient that I already said. I got rid of my unique website, which still was a dumb thing to do. Speaking of Behance its portfolio showcasing platform more than it’s a platform to find a freelancer or jobs.
However, I had several projects from it, so, even if you don’t want to use their website service make sure to have a profile there, cuz it’s it’s anyway, beneficial to you. Behance is number one platform: employers surfing when they’re looking for creative solutions, inspiration or people. Behance is a good base, apart from it try to maintain a strong presence in social networks, Facebook Instagram Pinterest, whatever platforms there are nowadays, your ultimate goal is to showcase what you got to as many people as possible on faith on Facebook in particular.
Find groups that are relevant to what you’re doing share your work. There comment on other artists works, be active, employers are sometimes checking those groups out and in some of them I’ve seen they’re proposing projects looking for people. So, for instance, I’m a member of octane render group in facebook. Apart from brilliant artworks, people are posting their iíve. Seen couple of job offers project offers posted.
There are two, so whatever you’re doing logos, Web Design, CG and VFX paper origami find relevant group and be active in it. Finally, one of the most effective ways of selling professional services, for me personally was dedicated freelance website. There are free ones and paid ones for both freelancers and employers. I haven’t used any of these websites for years now, but I suspect not a lot of things changed.
Last year we used freelance com to find a guy who would be able to model some stuff for us, and I was impressed by service on this particular freelance that come both employer and freelancer are safe. So it’s flawless safe and straightforward. The freelancer we were working with wasn’t allowed to do any other project while he was working on our stuff and he was paid only when the project was approved.
As an employer. We had to fully pay everything to freelance calm, but the money got released only upon projects, a pro approval and it’s super awesome. Cuz. Both sides know that they are serious about the work. Freelancer knows that money are there and they’re waiting for him to finish the work. Employer knows that freelancer won’t steal the money and disappear. This service really makes communication between freelancers and employers really simple.
Ten years ago, when I was freelancing, workflows were not developed on that level I personally experienced when employer disappears and not paying you, I’ve seen other freelancers disappears and not delivering works, and things like that with freelance comm, it’s just not possible it’s eliminated, so both sides Are honest, awesomeness just check it out? What about the price price is very important start small, remember $ 50.
The trick here is, as the demand to your work grows. Price can grow too. Remember demand price, not vice-versa. If you over value your work, you’ll, probably find yourself without any clients at all to estimate the cost of your work. Use freelance websites as well go to projects find a project. You would like to work on and usually under description. Other freelancers are able to propose to the client check out their work check out how much they want for day work and compare your level to their level and that way you’ll be able to find out what what’s the price be competitive.
Do better job slightly cheaper than others, but don’t drop your prices crazy low, be adequate? Last thing I was doing was least effective and least appealing to do. I was doing cold calling sort of. I was sending emails to every studio alight, offering my services I’ve, sent hundreds of emails and felt myself like hardcore spammer, but from those hundred couple of them replied and the collaboration was great.
We worked on numerous projects over years. Any possible way of reaching out to client is a good way. I’ve been there. I’ve done it, you can too. To summarize, if you want to freelance and effectively sell your professional services, you should concentrate on building a strong presence on both social media and freelance websites. I’ve listed a couple of freelance websites in article description for you.
There are paid services, some freelance websites for freelancers things like boost your rating or somehow decorate your portfolio. I don’t know how it works not now, but so, if you can use this services cuz, it’s really beneficial to you like in games, same principles. You pay you benefit and what’s more important and shows the employer that you’re serious about your work, be active and just grow your network.
Apart from that, don’t forget about your personal projects, creative stuff and stuff, your most passionate about! Do it upload it to your portfolio and push yourself to grow? Facebook strategy and distro kid to build a fanbase of over 30,000 monthly listeners on Spotify is actually well above that I just can’t remember the number check this out so tell me more about because one of the things that baffled me, I wouldn’t say baffled, but what I loved because I didn’t hear other artists talk about doing something like this and once again just speaks to the assistants II was you’re a $ 5 a day, Facebook strategy.
I did that in the early days so like I, I think I when I when I when I spoke to a year ago. I think that’s what I was doing bad. So I did that for about three months yeah and I’m like you know what I’m just going to, let it run like people like the song, I’m just going to just let it run and see what happens and honestly, like I kind of forgot about it, and I just let it run in the background and then after three months like I did build up when I looked back, I’m like wow and actually built me up a little bit of an audience and a fanbase and people were checking as I was dropping those songs.
Every Monday, my streams on Spotify were starting to slowly creep up and then I dropped a cover. A sorry, a mash-up I did of to me a song into you, ya know, and I mashed it with russa song, wife, you loved, like really exploded. You know so like people like that one just hit all the algorithms. It went crazy and I think it’s almost at half a million streams now on Spotify. Oh that brings a question to my head.
So that’s essentially a remix cover I’ve been axed before, and this isn’t really something I get into as far as some of the legality type things, but I’ve been eggs when you put a cover on a platform like Spotify, what does that do for you? Like? Can you do that? Have you gotten any kind of strikes or anything like that? No, I haven’t because well with district kid, the good thing is, and I would use just her kid for any artists reading they acquire the cover license for you, so you’re covered and keep in mind like there’s two licenses right, you have master recording and you have Song and you have the copyright, which is the the writing of the song.
So I don’t own the writing of the song, but I own my master, which is the version of the song that I created. So I’m allowed to use that and put it like. I’r only getting master revenue, so Spotify also pays publishing royalties to the to the songwriters that wrote the song right, so they would be getting the backend royalties that way which don’t come to me because it’s a cover. I didn’t write the song, but I created that arrangement of it and I created that recording.
So both sides, like just a songwriter and everybody who’s covering my song, is yeah. Oh there’s tons of covers on Spotify like yeah, like there’s artists, who only have covers on Spotify. It’s just you just have to buy the license right. You can do it through district head and there’s a company called louder. You can do it through them. Boom cool has their service too, or you can use it. I don’t use to incur.
The reason for me is not because they’re not a good company, but because I release so much music that it was cost prohibitive. Like I like, I would have been paying what five thousand dollars a year just a tune core and it just didn’t make any sense, gachi so um, just to hone in on my process a little bit when it comes to district kid and how they kind of Obtained the rights for you so you’re saying once you submit a song, their algorithms, pretty much picks up on the fact that it’s a cover and they obtain it or do you submit and let them know that it’s a cover.
So when you, when you choose the option, they ask you district ritas is a cover and then you click. Yes, it’s a cover and then they ask you who the original songwriter is then sorry who the original artist is and then they go and obtain the license for you. So I like that better because it’s less work for me now I don’t have to use a third party to go, get a license. You can buy a license yourself.
You can just go to louder, comm and buy one but hey anything extra. They just handle the money. No, you do have to pay, so you have to pay. I think it’s a dollar a month to have the cover license, so it can’t add up if you’re going to keep it up there. It’s not bad. It’s twelve bucks a year. You know so well, then, for the service they’re providing like now, you have peace of mind right. You don’t have to worry about getting a license and worrying about all that.
I’d rather just pay the twelve bucks and not worry you’re sure, especially as an artist I mean primarily I’m already doing too much work. Um and that’s like one less thing for me to do. You know yeah all right, as you guys can see that consistency. First of all and foremost, is what I want you guys to focus on when it comes to his $ 5, a day, Facebook strategy. That’s so much better than just doing one week right and just going really hard on some Facebook Ads.
He did $ 5 a day that allows him to stay consistent and you have to do one dollar a day. It’s something just worth trying out over time and you have to do one dollar a day over 60 days or 90 days. Do whatever you can. So you can only collect the data over time within your budget, so you can get that information and learn how to make even more specific ads for yourself to utilize. But then, of course, a big part of his strategy, which is huge when it comes to the peace of mind that district 8 offered by making it so easy for him to leverage covers, because we all know how to do YouTube covers right.
A lot of people can make that happen quickly, but when it comes to covers on Spotify, I always got a lot of questions about it. Not it necessarily know how to answer that question, and I didn’t necessarily have time to figure it out or ask somebody. So not only is it dope, they they make it super easy, because a lot of artists need peace of mind. They don’t want to town a bit like focus on all this stuff when you’re, just trying to you know being Indian grind your way up into a better situation, but it’s also relatively inexpensive.
But Mary you’re going to mention that in his interview saying you know if he was using chunk or it would have been cost prohibitive for his particular strategy and with all that being said, a lot of people have been telling me for a minute. Your brain way. You should do a podcast, you should do a podcast and I’m strongly considering it in some form of fashion, and I decided that if it happens, it will definitely happen on distro kid.

Now your next question may be what is HootSuite? It’s a social media management system and what that means is you can pre-plan your posts and have them all scheduled out so that they post. So you could take a day and plan out all your posts for Facebook or Instagram or Twitter, whichever platform that you’re using and HootSuite will post them for you each day.
So you don’t have to keep thinking about it. So you kind of like when your own business in line you want to chunk your work. You want to concentrate on one thing at a time: that’s kind of a little bonus tip for you and then once you plan all that posting out, you don’t have to think about it again until the next month, if that makes sense, so let me go over Some of the features – and you can decide if this is right for you now.

Alright, let’s talk about HootSuite these some of the features they do have a free plan, most tools that you see out there will give you an opportunity to test it and check it out, and I think that’s great because gives you the opportunity to check out different Plans it can be time-consuming, but before you start spending money, you want to make sure it’s the right plan for you and I don’t blame you.
I was the same way every every penny that you have. You want to make sure you’re investing in to help grow. Your business and you’re you’re smart about it now HootSuite does have a free version, the free version you can put use to social media profiles. For instance, if you have an Instagram account and you post on Facebook, you can plan out all of your posts for only two different profiles. Okay, then, to get more, you have to start paying money and I’m going to pull that up for you a minute.
But let’s talk about the pro account. A lot of people. Yes, go in check out the free version, but sometimes they’re really limited like if you are only posting on two platforms. They also only let you schedule 30 posts and that’s nice, but you only get to go a month out. If you are a little bit more of a planner and you want to do more, then you might want to pay for the pro version and it’s less than $ 10 a month.
I personally used to start out with all those free accounts, but now I kind of go into that lower one, because I do have more features and it does make your life easier now. What does the pro account do you have? It gives you an unlimited number of social profiles and then you can actually add one team member and has analytic reporting it’ll go in and tell you hey. This is the best time for you to post, or maybe some of these keywords that you’re using are really good, or maybe some of them aren’t.
So it’s giving you some analytics and use some algorithms in there as well. The nice thing the bad thing about the free account as opposed to maybe the pro account or more is you can’t do a lot of advanced scheduling like I said, you’re limited and also you can’t bring in a team member. So why would you want a team member? Well, if your business is building – or maybe you post a lot, you could hire a virtual assistant, or maybe one of your teenage children or a friend or somebody in the family to come in and post for you and the problem with that.
Is they can’t, you can’t add them to your account on the free account or adjust the pro account? So you you have to decide. What do I need from this platform? What do I need with my posting? I would suggest writing all that down before you go out and doing your research. Now you may say you know what I’m just checking them out. I’r going to do the free versions, that’s fine, but definitely if you already know you have a virtual assistant hired and you have them helping you, then you definitely need to look at the account that gives you the option to do that.
Now, let’s go ahead and bring up the pricing on HootSuite, as of today it does change. I have talked about HootSuite before and noticed. Oh my gosh. All the pricing has already changed. They used to give you free, 5 free social profiles and they lowered it down to two. So let’s go ahead and pull that up. I took it today as of today’s date off of their platform. They have what they call a the $ 29 account where you can have 10 social profiles.
Ok and unlimited scheduling, so you might think well. Why would I want unlimited scheduling honestly, if you could schedule out like six months worth of posts and and leave it there? It would be so easy now, you might say. Oh my gosh, that’s a lot well, I know people that will schedule out 2 months worth and then they rotate those same two months worth of posts now think about it. Not every person is going to see every one of your posts on Instagram every single day.
So if you, if you schedule out a rotation of posts of 2 months or 3 months, even if somebody’s reading, you constantly they’re not going to remember what you post at 90 days ago. So that’s what makes it nice for the unlimited scheduling that you can go in and recycle the posts you don’t have to come up with a year’s worth of stuff. So that’s one thing to look for it. For obviously it says everything is included from the free plan which wasn’t a lot, but you do get some metrics and you get to do some ad spending on there as well.
I’r not sitting here and I’m going to promote the hundred and twenty-nine and all that most of my followers are new, and I just want you to see that you can go in for free and check these out. So that’s basically that up if you up it above the pro account, you can pay as much as thirty dollars a month, and I just want you to see the different programs here and if you go down, obviously they get pretty big if you’re looking at starting Your own business – this is something that you would need you could actually post for other people, and I want to point that out because I definitely am an advocate for people making money online and I like to give you different ideas of what you can do.
So if you love to post and you’re good at it, you’re like how can I make money posting? Well, you can you can start your own agency and start posting for other people, and you would use a social media management system to keep track of everything. And here you can have 35 different profiles, five users and up to ten. Alright, let’s go back, and let me just give you a couple features. One of the features I like about HootSuite is I’m very visual and I like how, if I can see all of my different platforms, so here’s a picture here, you can actually pull it all up at once and actually see visually what you’re, what you’re posting? What’s coming up and what it looks like from one platform to the other – and I like that feature because again, I’m a more global visual learner and and I’d like to see everything and not just the parts.
And that actually is a good feature of. If that’s how you are now, what are some of the pros and cons? You do have that multi-column stream, where you can see everything that is a pro. Not every social media management system has that some of them you have to go in and just click buttons, and you can see different. You know only what you’re focusing on and you can’t see what’s happening throughout the whole month.
It does have apps that you can connect to it. So if you’d like to be on your phone, there are apps that you can connect to your pro to your business, to your system and you can even post from your app from phone and not only from your laptop now, some of the cons they do provide. You with one free report a month, so you can go in and see. I was just telling you there are analytics and it’s even on the free account.
You can go in and see what’s the best time for me to post what are some really good keywords that I’ve been using and different things like that? The problem is, if you want another report, let’s say you looked at that one report and then a week later, you’re, like you know what I tweaked my post. I made some changes. I want to see how much better I’m doing with those posts you have to pay 50 dollars for that report.
As of today, as of the day that I posted this, so that’s that’s not really good. If you have a small business because that can get pretty caught, you start costing a lot of money. There are no content grabbing extensions, and so what that means is sometimes there’s some extensions out there. That will help you build your business, make better posts and there aren’t any of those that they allow in HootSuite.
You pretty much are confined to their system because here’s another way. Sometimes, when you post, you will go out and make your own shortened links, and I know on WordPress – and I have a system called pretty links that I’ve added to my WordPress and I make pretty links so on that link. I can name it. My shortened link is a pretty link and I can name it YT YouTube. Let’s say I’m giving a free course – and I can say free course, free email course and when I promote my free email course on YouTube, I use that specific link and pretty links will actually track.
How many people are clicking that link with HootSuite. You have to use their shortener and it’s called Ally, o WL. I think it is here yet o WL y al Li and you have to stay within HootSuite system and you cannot track because it’s in their system. So that’s a negative, but it may not be important to you when you’re new to track, and maybe you just want to play with it in the beginning and see so in a nutshell that was HootSuite.
