How To Start Social Media Marketing (SMMA) As A Beginner In 2020 – STEP BY STEP

I often referred to myself as like the guinea pig, so I test things out see what wakes myself and then, basically I passed it on to you guys or to those that are in my coaching program. So, as you can see here on this virtual whiteboard fun fact that has actually got a real whiteboard, any more used to have one in the office, but don’t actually have one at home. So that’s why we’re using this virtual whiteboard for now, but as you can see, we’ve got four pillars if you will – and these are basically the four pillars of social media marketing.

So what I like to do, when I have a business model or a funnel or a flow or anything that I want to map out, I always try and break it down into its simplest form. I try and keep it as simple as possible. You know I see all these gurus trying to make this sound, extremely complex. It just to confuse you and to source to try and impress you with their knowledge and skills, but to be fair. Social media marketing is extremely simple.

It’s just a service based business model where you offer your services to clients in exchange for a monthly retainer. So, as you can see, these are the four pillars of social media marketing and the first pillar is obviously outreach, so you need to be reaching out to businesses to see if they actually need your help. Let me just quickly erase that and go for a black font where they change that here we go, so I think it’s black now, no, it’s still great okay, fair enough, the others.

They were great for nothing so for outreach, so the first pillar of social media marketing is reaching out outreach. You need to be reaching out to a bunch of businesses. You know again we’ll get into the niche pic and etc in in a later stage of this article, but the first pillar. The first thing you need to do before anything else is to reach out to businesses and see a lot of people getting stuck with this.

Where they build the website, they are unsure about what to do, because they don’t know how to get results for clients, etc and obviously guys I just just focus on the outreach first and all the rest will fall into place and i’ve done the exact same. You know i’ve made this exact mistake myself when I first started out in 2016, I got into what I like to call the website mentality. Where okay, you know, I decided.

Okay, I want to start social media marketing. So the first thing I did was I googled how to build a website, because I thought, okay, if I am an agency, I need this. This no fancy looking website, but I did not know how to build a website and I didn’t have the money at the time to you get someone else to build the website, because I actually spends all my money on online courses. So I spent the first month, you know basically trying to figure out how to build a website with WordPress, I readed all the articles on YouTube, etc.

Finally, built a website after like a month of trying to figure it all out, and then I saw this YouTube article of a guy that had a lead magnet. I had no idea what a lead magnet was at the time, so again went back into discovery. Mode starts looking into lead magnets, then I, I listened, wrote out an entire book on like the 10 steps that businesses go wrong or make same mistakes that businesses make with social media marketing.

So once I he book, then I tried to figure out how to actually sell it as a lead magnet and before I knew I was like three four months down the line and not a single business was reached out soup. Not a signal single message was since to potential clients, so if you are starting out, the first thing you need to do is outreach. Okay, again, like I said we will get into how to do that, how to pick an easy touch in a late stage of the article, but you want to start with the four pillars here.

So the first pillar is outreach. The second pillar is sales okay. So you reach out to a business and in the second pillar, is you need to sell that business on your service, the great or the easy way to do? This is, unless you ask them, okay: where are you now? Where do you want to be, and if you think that the service that you are offering can take them from A to B, then you offer your service. Then we’ve got project management, which is, let’s see what it says.

You know you are managing the project, so each individual clients is or can be seen as an individual project, and you need to manage that. So you need to make sure that the clients is happy that he is getting reports every now and again or updates. Every now and again that, basically all of the demands calls on quotes of the clients, rbms KPIs are being hit, and so on and so forth and in the last pillar is project development, and that is actually you getting the results for the clients so actually Brewin.

The Facebook Ads, if that is what you’re offering actually building the website, is that if that’s what you’re offering actually posted on the social again, if that is what you are offering okay, so this is SR MA in its simplest form: outreach sales project, management’s project developments; Okay, now I have said that this will be you you know before while explaining this, but that does not necessarily mean that you need to be doing every single one of these pillars.

So, for example, with outreach you can have appointment status. Let me just see if I can actually change this column out. No still gray still can’t figure out how to change it. I’ve got something to do with something here. I better go. That’s black so I’ll quickly erase this on the eraser there we go okay, so I said you can get appointments setters to set appointments for you. You can find data miners that will find email addresses for you.

You can even run Facebook Ads to generate meetings, etc. You know there are so many ways of doing outreach that does not necessary need to be you manually reaching out these businesses. Okay same goes for sales. You can get a hi to her closer to do. You know the way for you to close the client for you and you can even just get a sales team that does it for you, and this can all be on commission basis.

So, for example, the appointment set that you can say: okay, you will get 10 % of the first month for setting the appointments. If the client actually closes, then the hi ticker closer again, you can say: okay, you get 20 %, Ricky Roe or 40 % off the first month. For example, I’m just just make it up like basically numbers out loud here, but the way my business now is set or path just got a full time employee.

That basically manages most of the front end for me, and I’m extremely grateful for that. But when you’re starting out this is something that you can look into then project management’s, which is basically managing all the clients. You know, speaking to the client, communication, etc. You can just hire a VA to do this, and this does not have to be expensive. You know you’ve got VA s for anywhere from one to three dollars an hour depending on where they are based.

You know how fluent they are and English Chamonix how much experience they’ve got and so on and so forth. So we can get a VA to do. The communication with the clients and in terms of project development – again, it’s also does depend on what sales you are offering. I am offering Facebook ads and basically a full generation etc. Bought me, you know my main core offer is Facebook Ads and I currently do this myself.

So I’m actually the one that’s running the ads in the pub on the back end, but you can also just get a media buyer to do this on your behalf and immediate, buy a good media. Buyer will be a little bit more expensive. Most media bias that I have dealt with nowadays are anywhere between 500 to 800 a month. If your media buyer is more expensive than this, they will need to be able to back that up with good results, but anyway, team 581.

German is you know the normal price for a decent media buyer now quick disclaimer with the media buyer? If, because, obviously there are a lot of people now, they start your claim to be a media buying X, base Facebook, ads experience, etc. When you are speaking to a potential media, buyer always ask to see the business manager always ask to see their portfolio and always give them analysts access to your clients and ask them to give a detailed report on what they would do.

If they. Actually, you know basic got that client off you. So if you know, if you outsource that client to the media buyer, what they will do in that situation, if you think okay, this guy is the real deal, and basically this pillar does not cost you more than 50 %, so that if this can be outsourced For less than 50 percent of the retainer then do it. If not, then I would not go for it because you know you want a healthy profit margin at the end of everything.

You know basically cause it’s your agency and you are actually build, not this agency. Okay, so that is it in terms of the four pillars: Minster weights, as I scroll down further or always think move this up there, we go tapes that have moved off, and then so these are. This is the this is literally social media marketing in its purest form the four pillars of social media marketing. So when you are starting out what I would recommend doing, because again with the mistake that I made was that I created the website, I tried to figure out how to set up a lead, magnet, and I rewrote as an e-book and stuff like that.

What I would do in your situation when starting out or if I had to start from scratch again now? What I would do is. I would create a Facebook profile. Okay, so it not a business profile, not a facebook business page not like that. Just a personal profile and on a personal profile, you’ll have a cover photo that looks professional. I would remove all tanks, show you in focus of parties and friends, etc.

So remove all the tags. Why? Because you want this to look as professional as possible, but you can also do LinkedIn if you’d rather do that. So LinkedIn is the next one board Facebook business profile for me, a facebook profile. Sorry, not a business page like that. What we’re going to do is build out a profile funnel so Facebook profile with a professional-looking image a cover photo. That explains what you do, so you can have a cover photo with text.

That says, I help Realtors get more leads for more buyers and sellers and Sesa for their state agents, or something like that. Okay and then another thing you can actually have is a featured image. Okay, so a featured image is basically what you have. On the left hand, side just on your bio and it’s just a quick image that you can upload and basically explains again what you can do for your clients, okay, so this is what you’ve got on your Facebook profile.

So the number one thing that you can do is the Facebook profile or LinkedIn profile. Okay. The second thing I want you to do is to pick a service yeah. In fact, you can actually pick two services. Okay max so pick two Max services. Why? Because we want to source a niche down what we actually offer them, we don’t want to be a jack-of-all-trades. We don’t want to offer SEO Pinterest Instagram blog posts, VA services, social media management, funnel building, etc.

Okay pick two services: why? Because it will be much much easier for you in the long run, to manage this as a business. So, yes, you might have the time now to basically take on all of these different types of services, but just think imagine if you’ve got like eight nine clients. All quests and all these different types of services you’re going to be all over the place, so just pick two services max.

So for me, if I had to start again, it would be Facebook Ads and a follow building. So I just put let’s see for an old big okay, so funnel building and Facebook ads. Those will be the two services that I would offer you can do social media management website design. It completely depends on what you want to offer on what kind of agency you want to be, but that is basically what I would choose: okay, so Facebook Ads and funnel build.

So now, we’ve got our profile set off. We’ve gotten our two services or one service. You can also just pick one service that is completely fine, so we now have our social presence. We’ve got our service now, it’s time to actually start with the first pillar, which is outreach, so we need to start reaching out to potential businesses. What I would do is, I would look into cold email outreach. Why? Because it’s just effective okay, you can reach out to the owner of any type of business.

You know, there’s the so many difference apps for little plugins. I use Hunter dot IO to basically see like, for example, this website is called AWWA, P, P calm and I should see here. We’ve got hello, I AWA P comm info at and then this is the CMO which is door Rita or door ot. I’r not sure. I pronounced that so, as you can see here, these are emails that I can use to reach out to this software and say: listen either on Facebook ads for you guys, hey so hunter dot, IO, which what you can use are with our agency.

Now the entire outreach path is automated. Slash, outsource. We’ve got this hybrid automation going on for those without in the coaching program. You guys won’t know what I mean, but for those who are just starting out start off with cold email or log into Facebook groups white, because regardless of the niche or industry, there are always Facebook groups of that initial industry. So, for example, if you’re going to reach out to spas, there are groups, Facebook groups of spa owners that are basically sharing ideas.

Okay, if you are reaching out to real realtors again, there’s Real Estate’s Facebook groups out there of Realtors. You know basis sharing ideas and you know helping each other out. So you know it’s it’s it’s true to say you know you are the average of the five people you spend most time with, so everyone that his entrepreneurial, that has their own business will want to. Basically surround themselves with other like-minded people, so people that are in the same industry and business and the same I am always trying to get in contact with successful agency owners.

You know just to pick their brains to share my knowledge and experience, but also get knowledge and experience back from them, so find Facebook groups and find the groups that they are most likely to be in okay, so you’ve got email and you’ve got Facebook groups. Okay and then the third one, which is sort of low-hanging fruits, if you will, is freelancer websites. Why? Because people that pull up job post on freelancer websites are actively looking for people like you to take on these services, so you no longer need to convince these businesses that they need facebook ads.

They need social media management, they need a new website because they already know that, and that is why they put up a job post on these freelancer websites. You know asking for someone to help them. Okay, so the one I like to use is called up.Wake and yes, there are a lot of people that have like quake courses and stuff, like that. I actually just have a free beginner course that basically explains the entire awkward business model, and if you want access to that, all you need to do well, there’s two ways of getting it.

Basically, you can subscribe to my youtube blog and click on the little bell. Icon and I actually run Facebook YouTube ads, YouTube, pre-roll ads literally a euro or two euros a day. It’s not special! I run ads to my subscriber list, so your basic and advertisements explaining how you get access to my course. You might have already seen that the advertisements or you can request access to my free lifestyle design, Facebook group.

It will be linked below it’s the same course, because I’ve gotten that question a lot. It’s the same course. The one in the Facebook group is the same course as the course that you get. If you read the advertisements but like I said it explains the entire awkward business model, how to get onto the platform, how to apply for jobs and how it’s actually get clients through up where okay. So we now understands the four pillars.

We now understand how to build a social presence, so a facebook profile, for example oil linkedin profile. We have now picked a service or two services, and we now have three methods of reaching out to potential business owners or with a freelancer website, no.2 on our potential business to potential clients and then with the freelancer websites. We’ve actually found a client that is actively seeking your help.

Okay, now before we actually wrap up this article, I want to share with you guys a basically a concept that I see a lot of all that I say guru’s frown upon because they say it’s unnecessarily. It’s not needed, but when you are starting out you list, you have nothing. Okay, and one of the main issues that I see a lot of people have when starting out is that they are hit with a question: okay, send over your portfolio.

Why? Because I’m the same, you know I’ve just told you to do. The same thing is to ask for portfolio material when you are in contact with a freelancer or something that’s going to take over the Facebook Ads. So you know you will get hit with this question. As well, you people will ask you: okay, show your portfolio what previous experience have you got so when starting out, if you have the time, I would highly recommend to offer a free trial.

Okay, now I don’t mean to do freeway from this point onwards and hope that someday someone will say, listen, I will pay you for it. What I want you to do is, for example, in those Facebook groups, you can do on email as well. If you want or freelancer or fuel instructions, if you want as well but go to these Facebook groups and explain that you are a digital marketer, that you have the knowledge and you have the work ethic.

But basically you don’t have the experience. Okay. So what you lack in experience, you basically compromise with knowledge. Okay, so you know exactly what to do. You just haven’t, got the previous experience to back it up, okay and then offer for people, so a max of four people, the opportunity to work with you in exchange. So it also mentioned that the time is less than let’s say four weeks you can say YouTube.

It can be up to you. You know two weeks one month, anything like that. So, for a limited time, you are opening doors for for business owners within the niche to work with you for free, in exchange for a testimonial article ants that you can use the busy day business manager as portfolio material okay. So you will be doing one month’s work for free and you’ll get a article testimonial and you are allowed to use their business manager to show other potential clients.

Now, there’s two reasons why I want you to do this number one, because it’s the easiest way to get a client. Why? Because it’s free okay, so there’s no risk on their path. You can let you do this and get a client’s by the end of this evening, but the main thing that I want you to learn here as well is to have to actually go through the process of onboarding the clients of experience from what it’s like to.

Actually set off the four pillars you know to actually have all of this open room and so have the agency opening its experience, what it’s like to run the ads, etc. Okay, so, yes, you will need to do this yourself. You can’t outsource it because you will be out of pocket, but this will give you the experience that no not of these courses and gurus can basically give you, because you are now tuned in yourself and the the confidence that you’re build up from.

This is priceless. Okay, because every single time you speak to a business owner from that point onwards, and they hit you with a question. You can just say: well, listen the previous clients had this and this I come back to this or I tackle this by doing this and that and then, if they say okay, well, let’s see your portfolio, you can just send them the case. Let me say: listen! This worked on for client say you are client bait.

I can do the same for you. You know sign your name with a dotted line, okay, so that is why I recommend a free trial when starting out – and yes, you know the on, if you let’s say yeah, but people that opt-in for a free trial, they will never become a paying clients, but That is not what we’re trying to achieve here. We are list. We go into part ways in a month’s time and, yes, you know domains also be some of you guys that are doing such a good job for this client that the client list she says, listen, let’s continue with this.

I want to pay you for this, but we’re not going to go into this thinking that that is going to be the outcome. Okay, the outcome is experience, portfolio material, a testimonial. So in four weeks time you will 100 % part ways and while it’s in maintenance in part way because, like I said the always going to be businesses, that will want to continue with you. But this is why I recommend the free trial, ok, experienced portfolio material and the testimony or article that you can show to the next clients.

It’s like a almost a bootcamp, if you will for social media marketing, because from that moment onwards after you finish, therefore, the four that fails clients you can go out and actually get a real clients and then, if they ask for a portfolio, you’ve got it and That way, you know you will get everything overall and sooner rather than later. Google Analytics – How It Can Help Improve Your Business

So I talked a lot about with my clients, the smart objectives. So this is objectives for your business or for your website or anything what you do in life, which is so the smart objectives are specific, measurable, actionable, realistic and time-bound.

So in regards to Google Analytics the important one is M for measurable. So there’s no point in having a website out there. If we’re not actually learning about whether that website is working for us, you could have 10,000 visitors coming to your website. But if you don’t know that 10,000 visitors who come to your website and be what those visitors are doing when they get to your website, there is absolutely no point in having a website at all.

It’s just of no use to your business, so I would thoroughly and encourage you whether it’s Google Analytics or any other stats tool and to have a a tool on there, which is grabbing those stats for you. So you can learn about your audience and how better to engage them. One of the first benefits of installing Google Analytics on on your website is actually its influence. It has on how your your website gets indexed, so if you’re using analytics and Google automatically knows that you’ve added a page to your to your website so and how it does this is when that page goes live you go and look at it.

It triggers Google Analytics and to load, and then it says oh well, this is a new page. I need to add it into my index unless you’ve switched it off using the robots and txt file. What this means is so Google also has a an automatic submission tool, so you have to manually sorry not on automatic and manual submission tools. You have to go and submit your your web pages manually. This just takes that that take takes out that extra step, so so long as you’re using Google Analytics.

Google knows, and whenever you add a new website web page to your website and it’ll index it within I’ve, seen it happen with the matter of hours 24 hours evening. The second tip which I’ve got is about understanding your visitors. So the key thing about the visitors to your website is looking at the they used to be called unique visitors, but it’s now sessions. If you want to get real-time information, but probably most people look at their stats on a daily, weekly or monthly basis, and this just allows you to give benchmarks and what those benchmarks allow you to do is that if all of a sudden, you see a dip In your website traffic, you can react to it so if, for example, you’ve uploaded a page of content which violates Google’s Terms and additions, for example, so they’re no longer listing your page and search engine, you can react to it D list that page go and tell Google about it and hopefully get that traffic back up because don’t forget nowadays, most people to validate a business they’ll go and have a look at their website.

If your website’s not being indexed in Google they’re, not going to be able to find you equally. If most of your website, traffic is driven through organic and search engine results, and your website disappears off planet you’re going to lose that business, your business could go under so keeping an eye on how your website is performing. If you start to see it tail off, you can react and hopefully and build that traffic back up to where it was before.

The third thing I want to talk about is and the different what a pageviews and fountain what constitutes the bounce rates? It’s a really common. I do a lot of workshops in this and it’s the most common question. What’s the bounce rate, so bounce is basically when somebody lands a new homepage and they leave without engaging with the site or basically doing anything, so they don’t scroll down. They don’t click on the link, they don’t read a article.

They don’t do anything and by default, that period of time is 30 minutes, and so, if somebody landing site doesn’t do anything with it for 30 minutes, then that’s considered to be a bounce. You can manipulate that. I think you can tell Google to reduce the bounce rate on your website if you want to, but typically if I mean, if they haven’t done anything in the first sort of 10, 20 30 seconds, probably unlikely to do anything with your website.

Anyway, so so Google displays this bounce rate metric and through analytics. The next thing I want to talk about is goal conversions and funnels so goal conversion. I talked about in a previous article about and the three things that happen within seven seconds. So the message you’ve got to get across is who we are, what you do and where do you want your customers to go to next so that where to next is and what we call a goal conversion? Ultimately, we want something to land on your website and either and pick up the phone or submit a contact form or buy products for me.

So so you can tell Google and Google Analytics what that goal. Conversion is so, let’s call it a contact form submission. The funnel is how they reached that point. So we create a funnel. A simple funnel might be land on the homepage. They go to the contact page and then they hit submit so there’s three steps in that. Funnel we want to and the way the reason why funnels are important is, it might be the let’s say you have thousand visitors to the website.

100 of them hit the contact button, but none of them have, and none of them are completing the goal. Well. Okay, now, what we can do is see where customers are dropping out at that funnel. Maybe we’ve got too many form fields in the contact or maybe the contact forms is broken, so this gives us an opportunity if we see that as a dropping out our particular points in that funnel that you’ve created for them.

You can react totally web developer to go in there and fix it. One thing which changed and quite dramatically probably about two or three years ago, with Google Analytics and another question which I started to get asked quite often was you can you can have a look at the keywords which people have put into Google and view those on On through analytics to see what keywords people have searched on in order to land on your website and there’s this one specific keyword that people started to realize was just gaining in popularity for every single website and it was something called not provided.

So I kid you not at the top of the list keywords on everybody’s google analytics and starting to become not provided, and now it accounts for about 90 % of keywords which people search on so now, people aren’t actually searching for the keywords not provided and ended Up on ending up on your website, the reason why it’s happening is because most search is now on Google and, if you look at on the URL and you’ll, see a little padlock icon and it will say HTTPS instead of HTTP, you know forward slash, Google com, So those searches people are doing being pushed through a secure, socket layer, HTTPS so through a secure layer and what Google does is it just obfuscates them? So you can’t actually see what those keywords are.

So it does that for privacy reasons to protect the person who’s browsing the web so now you’re getting loads of really useless information about keywords through Google Analytics, which is really frustrating so the workaround for it there is a workaround, it’s pretty straightforward! You can install something called Google Webmaster Tools onto your website and if you’ve got Google Webmaster Tools installed on your website and you can actually see what and searches are being carried out and resulting in your web page being delivered in the search results before people get To your website, through and through Google Webmaster Tools, so you’ve actually got access to that list of keywords and through another Google tool, it’s just really frustrating that you can’t see it through Google Analytics.

So that’s the Google not provided workaround and which there’s more information about it on my website or if you google, for it I’m sure you’ll be able to find a plethora of different tips how to work around it. So, just to summarise those key points, the reasons why Google Analytics is really important. So first it talks about smart objectives. Google Analytics allows you to measure the prompt to your website and happy for interacting with your website, and it has an immediate impact on how quickly can get pages indexed in Google search engine.

We can see how many unique visitors are coming to our websites and and measure that on a regular basis, we can have a look at bounce rates and see see whether people are landing on the page and how well they’re interacting on it and how many pages They’re actually viewing and finally, we look at goal. Conversions been creating funnels to track people right the way through to a call to action which we’ve created for them and at what point they’re dropping out of that process.

Now I’m on the blogger on Google now and I’m signed in – and I can see myself over here and if I click here, you can see it offers you diverse variety of tools that you get with your gmail account. I know that you can come in. You can actually sort of sign up and get your gmail account other ways, but all of these are now connected YouTube, Google+, etc.

And if you click here or more, you should find that one of the buttons says blogger and that’s exactly where you want to go. And when you click into blogger and you come into your blogger site, you’re not going to have what I’m going to have here. At the top of the screen, because obviously I’ve got various blogs that I’ve created in the past, so you should really see this completely empty, but what you should see is the button new blog, and that is important.

Now you may sometimes have other windows open as well and again you might. This will be to do with other blogs that you follow, etc and I’ll come back and talk a little bit about that. But hopefully you should see about nickeled new blog at the top of your page and that’s where we’re going to start and we’re going to click on that button in the next article and start straightaway, with our first article and our first blog.

So, let’s click on new blog and basically all you have to do – is give your blog a title. So I’m going to call mine teacher training, articles blog and the address is going to be the actual site address the URL and you don’t want to use gaps in that. So I’m just going to call that teacher training articles log and it’s telling me that’s okay, that that wait, that an address is okay. It might be a bit of a long name for a blog, but for the one for today that will do first.

Fine now choose a template, I’m going to go for simple. Well, we can always update the template, so it really isn’t something you should worry about at the moment. Just choose the simple template and click on create blog, and that is it. Your blog is now ready that simple to create a new blog and all we need to do now is to start add content to that particular block and there it is already so now the blog is ready, and if we roll over here, it says, create new Posts – so I always like this layout, because if you want to create a new post for any of your blog’s, you can just simply click here, and it immediately will go to that blog.

Of course, you’ll only have one blog at the moment. You can create as many blogs as you want. Let’s add our first post by simply clicking on here and if we click on here it opens up the interface for working with blogger and we can more or less start straightaway. Now. You’ve got two views when you’re working with blogger and most of the time you’re just going to want to work in compose mode. There will be times when you want to go into HTML if you’re, for example, going to embed something and we’ll come to that.

But for now all you need to do is to click on in compose mode. Now. One important thing is to always give your blog post a title, and it’s really worth thinking about these titles, because titles are part of the metadata and meta information about each particular blog that you write and so try to give your title something relevant to whatever your Particular topic is because it will help for your blog’s to be indexed on Google, so I’m going to do a blog post, which is going to be using ICT to develop students fluency in speaking so a nice long, clear title.

It clearly explained what this particular blog post is about. It’s a good idea to really think carefully about the layout of your blog post and try to make them all consistent. So let’s say we put a title which is going to be why ICT can help develop speaking. So this isn’t the title of my post, but it’s like the first subtitle and I’m going to then select that and choose from here. I’ve got I’ve a heading subheading, minor heading and that’s a really nice way of working in this.

Of course it’s going to be the heading, and now I’m going to start writing underneath that if I click here, it should just go back again to normal, and I can start to write my post now. It may be that your post is already written and you’re going to just paste it. You know it may be that you’re going to start writing here. So I’m just going to quickly just sort of put a bit of text across the screen.

So one way will be just just to start adding your text onto the screen and write in your article, for example, this particular article is going to be about developing students fluency, and I can just begin to write there now when I then want to add a Subtitle would come down again and then pre-exam’pl. This is a sub title, so it’s not one of the main titles. It’s a subtitle of and again select it on its own line, click on the drop down and then put that as a subheading and then, of course, you would then carry on writing notice.

What happens as soon as you click back down another line. It comes to normal and off you go and then you can start to be adding your next line of or next section of text, etc. So very, very easy for you to almost start immediately to add text to your screen again move down. Let’s say we’re going to have another subtitle. This is a second sub title notice that I write it in first and then I select and choose the formatting that I want to use and again as soon as I click down, it will jump back to normal and allow me again to be right, and it’s Just something I’ve learned over time: that’s really good to think about the organization of your posts and the titling that you’re going to use and then to be really consistent with that titling in in next step.

In all, your blog posts write a lot more to do with this particular post before it’s ready for publishing. But let’s move on and just look at another option, which is to paste in the text from somewhere else. Okay, a couple of tips about cut and paste and you’ll often say that see this when you work with different blogging tools, blogger allows this, and that is that you paste in and take all the formatting out.

Now, I’m just going to quickly go to an article that I’ve got here and I’m. This is a article that I’ve written I’m going to copy that so just going to copy here and then I’m going to come back to my blog and let’s just see what happens if I paste that in and if I paste that in as you can see, It’s kind of formatted itself and it’s sort of gone with the a large format in size. Now, what I’m going to do is just select all that paste and then I’m going to click on this button here, which says, remove formatting.

Take that all out and therefore it now is kind of coming in it – starts to look a little bit similar to the rest of this blog and, of course, what I would now do is select that title and then click again on subheading and suddenly, we’ve now Copied and pasted in some extra content and tidied it up made it look like the rest of the of the of the blog. So that’s a very useful button. That is, that is, when you paste in from word, and you want to make sure that you haven’t got any formatting, because you can really mess up your blog post.

So, let’s imagine that this is our first blog post and we’re happy with it. Is that everything – and the answer is no absolutely vital and you’ll see while a bit later, is to make sure that you label every blog post that you create, and that is going to help people to be able to find your blog posts, find related blog posts And also going to allow them to be able to search for your blog post, not only by the date stamps, but also by the labels that you create so make sure you click on the labels button and add labels.

Now this is the first post. So there are no labels that have been suggested to me, but I’m going to start by it just right in speaking and in a comma and influency and in another comma and I’m going to write communication. So we’re going to just have these three and notice that I am using commas: click on the done button and we’ve now added those three labels to that particular blog post, and that is really really important.

Now we’ve got lots of buttons here on the right-hand side that we can talk about and we will come back and look at later on when it comes to publishing posts. But I do want to look at the some of these buttons here at the top. The first one is published and if you click on that button publish button that particular blog post will be published and available to the world. If you just want to save it, but you don’t want to publish it so that way, you’re going to come back and do some work on it later.

They can click on the Save button. And if you want to preview what it’s actually going to look like we’ll click on this button here, which opens another window and will actually give you a preview of how that blog post is actually going to look on the page. Now. You’ll notice that it’s got something called about me here and this information about me well I’ll, come back to this, because this is really what we call a plug-in or and widget that we’ve got here, and this widget is automatically part of the template.

We can delete it if we don’t want to have that, so we will come back and deal with widgets notice that when you go and preview that you’re actually opening up an additional tab at the top of your page, so you can close that come back. So you can either save or you can publish and you can preview, I’m going to publish this button and when we come back and do some more blog post, we’ll look at some of these other ones.

I just wanted to show you the simplest way to do your very first blog post and really with what I’ve showed you. You could now click on the publish button, which is what we’re going to do and our first blog post has been published and we can now see it in the overview of the teacher training articles blog but looking at the posts, and we can see the first Post has been added and I can see clearly the three labels I’ve use and notice that each of those labels I began with a capital letter to make it all nice and clear and nicely formatted.

So when you publish a blog post, you get taken to this page here. This one make it dead clear where we are. If you click on my blogs, it will bring you back to the list of all the blog’s that you have created. Remember, we’ve seen this page before there is, and if we click here on this particular blog, the one that we’ve just been making together and come back to the posts will bring us back to the the page where our posts and there it is again.

So this is a useful page because, as you produce more and more blog posts, they will all appear here. One last thing about navigation: before we get on to create another blog post, and that is if you click again on my blogs, and you were to look at all your blog posts, you know that you’ve got a menu here, drop down menu. That takes you to all the different important pages and we’ll be dealing with a lot of these pages during the discourse.

Now, if we also clicked here, for example, on teacher training article so we’re going in specifically to that particular blog, then the same list is here on the left hand side. Oh sorry about that! I’r just saying now the same lift is here. It is here on the same from the left hand, side. So, just to keep that in mind my blogs and really that list is just this list here and you can access this list from here or you can click on the blog and it will appear on the left hand side.

So that’s just a little bit about navigation. Two really important things aren’t the posts, and this button always brings you back to your list of blogs. That’s really really important than this button here, it’s very useful because it gives you all the different possibilities for that particular blog and the same for any of the other blogs that you’ve produced depending whether or not what depends on.

Obviously, what rights you’ve got this one here is a blog words been shared with me, for example. Anyway, let’s now move on to adding a second blog post to teacher training articles blog. So I can always add a new blog post by clicking here or by going to the posts and we’ll just do that for now and clicking here and also we’ll add a new post. Now we’re going to give this second post a title and more about fluency and research into typing students.

Okay and again, I’m going to select laps and I’m going to add the heading there and then I’m going to start to write my piece and because I do it like this, it always goes back to normal, which is really useful. Okay and this time, though, what we’re going to do is we’re going to add a picture. So what move here and then come down and this time I’m going to add a picture so we’re going to click on this button here insert image now.

We’ve got lots of different ways that we can insert images. Let’s start with the most obvious one which is going to be choose a file and just grab a file from our own computer. So we’ll do that and just come down to pictures and just add in an image from my computer that clicking here and someone’s of me giving presentations – and let’s just put this one in here, for example – click on that and then obviously way too late uploads and Then click on ADD selected and that picture will be added to the blog.

Now we’re not limited to have the image in the middle. If we click here, there are a few things that we can do just by clicking on the image. First of all, we can shift it to the left or shift it to the right. We can make it smaller or large. You got various sizes or you can always set it to the original size. You can add, caption, etc, etc. So I’m going to shift this image to the left, so I do that and to the left, I’m going to make it smaller.

So I shift on that one. There then I’m going to add a caption Russell presenting in Turkey and there we are. We’ve got our first image uploaded because of weather. That is, I’m just going to click here now and uncensor, so that the cursor moves back again to the right. So we’ve now added an image into our second blog post. Now I want to show you a second way of add an image and for this particular one, what I’m going to do is I’m going to use what they call the unique resource locator each image: that’s on the Internet has its own unique resource locator and what We can do is and we’ll just move the cursor down here and then we’re going to that’s again for some reason.

It’s shifting to the center point, I’m going to put it to the left, I’m going to click on the link button here insert image button. Sorry the insert image button and if I click here I was on upload. If I click here, it shows me all the images in the blog and if I click here it says, write in the unique resource. Locator, every single image on the Internet has a unique resource locator. That is where that image resides and we can actually copy a unique resource.

Locator, the URL from another website from an image on another website, paste it in here, and it will grab that image and reproduce the image on or in our blog now, it’s interesting you’re not actually downloading the image you’re, not taking a physical copy, you’re. Actually, linking and reproducing the image on your website or on your blog through the code, so, for example, if I went to Russell Stannard here and using my Google Chrome in this case, I wrote right-click and click on this.

One here copy image: URL now each browser works slightly differently, come back again, paste in that unique resource, locator and click on ADD selected, and there appears on the screen – and I can even click on that and make it small to make sure that we’ve got the Same size image by doing that as well, so there we’ve seen how we can add an image using the unique resource locator. Of course, it’s vital that we add labels to all our posts, because that will help not only bloggers to find our posts and for users to find our post within blogger, but also simply because of the way that blogger is picked up by Google click on labels And it will first of all show you any previous labels that you’ve used and you can see that I’ve got three here and if I wanted to use any of those I’ll just click on them and that one will be added.

And if I still wanted to add any more myself, for example in this particular case, let’s imagine that we’re going to add the one typing and then I can add that and click on done. Remember when you click on the publish button, the actual post is published. If you click on the Save button, it’s just saved for you to come back and add to a later date, but it’s not published on the Internet, I’m going to publish it so click on that button and of course it brings me back to my posts page.

I can clearly see my labels and I’ve now got two posts included: okay, we’re really moving now. Let’s add another post and we’ll click go straight from here, so we’re on the posts page. That is that we’re on the teacher training, articles, blog and we’ve got a list of our posts, I’m going to add a new post. This is going to be our third post. We’ll give this one the title and again we want to try to make sure developing fluency stories, so it kind of keeping on the same theme of speaking, etc, etc.

How storytelling can help now? What we want to do in this particular one again we’re going to first of all select that text and give it the heading title, because we want to keep this all nice and consistent so that all the blog posts look the same. And what we’re going to do here is, first of all, add in again a little bit of text and then we’ll come and talk a little bit more about text in a second, so just add in a little bit of text on to the screen.

Let’s imagine now that we want to add in a article and obviously Google LinkedIn really well with YouTube, I’m going to click here, and I really like the way that this works now I’m going to grab from from YouTube and I’m going to click on from YouTube And in fact I can just do a search here, so I’m going to put in, for example, Russell Stannard and see if there’s any stuff – and hopefully there might be something on me talking about simple technology tools that we can use in.

There is so I’m going to click on that and that then it gives me a little bit of information, I’m going to click on select, and that is now going to be embedded into my blog and, of course this we can play it back again. Come to the labels, and I may want to use some of the ones I’ve already got speaking, but I’m going to add a new one here as well, which is going to be so click on here and I’m going to just right.

I see two tools. I’r going to route vocaroo because I know that I’m talking about that particular and so now we’ve done another post in this particular post. It isn’t much of a post at the moment and it’s just actually a article that students can access, but you getting the idea of just how easy it is to start to build up your blog and add images, etc, etc. And again, I’m just going to publish that when you publish remember you’re always taken to the post page now we haven’t really viewed this blog yet and that’s what I want to do next is just have a look at the blog and start to think a little Bit about the layout of the blog and how we can kind of make it look a little bit nicer.

Obviously, this is just an sort of introductory set of articles, so really I’m just very quickly touching over all the basics so that you can get up and working with bloggers. If ever you want to view your blog just click here and you can open up the page and actually look at see what the blog looks like and what this particular blog is going to look like is, it will always show the latest blog post and if We scroll down we’ll also see a previous blog post and if we could scroll down even further, we’ll see a previous blog post.

So we’ve got three blog posts up on the screen already and you’ll, see those here, opportunities to leave comments, etc, etc, and we’re going to kind of start to have a look at some of these things. You’ll notice also that we’ve got here, I kind of archive, and this is by default. We didn’t do anything. This seems to just appear. We’ve got this about me. Information and we’ve got this other thing here, which is a blog archive now, by default, your blog posts are always always organized by title and also their date stamped as well, and it shows us that there are three blog posts in the month of October and we Can click and go to any of those particular blog posts by simply click on it, and it will bring that post up onto the screen and if I did the same here now, what about if we wanted to navigate in a different way, for example, what about All those lovely meta tags that we’ve added and what about? If we don’t want this here, what about if we wanted this in a different place, how does all this this work? How have we chosen this particular formatting and that’s what I want to start to look at and now and that’s one of the things I like about blogger is that you can really play around with the design and we can actually do a lot of things again.

I’r just going to emphasize the real basics for this particular course, but I’m going to start to show you how we can do that now. So I’m back on my main blog page here. I’ve got my blog here and I’m going to click on this drop down menu and I’m going to go to something called layout. This is really interesting because we can play around quite a lot with the layout of our blog and you’ll, also notice that there are some things.

For example, the blog is here: we’ve got the header here and you’ve notice on the right-hand side. Here we’ve got an about me gadget and we’ve got another one called blog archive now, the blog archive. I definitely want to keep, because that is where my blog posts are displayed in terms of the titles and on a monthly basis. But I don’t want this one here called about me. It’s added by default when we use the simple blog theme and some things have different gadgets or in different places.

So I just click on edit and I can get rid of that. So I’m going to remove it. I don’t want to have that particular gadget on my page, but a gadget that I do want is one called labels, because we’ve got the meta tags that we’ve been adding the labels that we’ve been adding to each of our blog posts. But we’ve got no way at the moment of allowing the users to click on those labels so that they can access the any related articles.

So I’m going to click on add a gadget. You’ll see, there’s loads of gadgets. We can add and we’ll come back and have a look at a few of these and block stats and search box, but one that we’ve got here I can find it is called. Let’s just have a quick like it’s called labels and I’m going to click on that and I can change the title. If I want to want to put something else, I can organize my labels alphabetically.

I can all can organize them by frequency and I think that’s what they will do, so the more frequent ones will come higher up. We can do a cloud as well, so that also will mean that the more frequently use of a particular meta tag, the more often and a bigger story, the larger it will be displayed. And we can even have a show a number of tags related to or number of times that each tag has been used and I’m going to choose that just to display it.

So I’m going to click on save so we’ve added this new label and we’re going to click on save arrangement just to make that sure that that has been saved and I’m now going to click on view blog. And hopefully we should see now that we’ve got labels and there they are, and I can click, for example, on fluency, and it will show me all three blog posts that related to that label. If I click on vocaroo, it will show me just the one blog post that is related to that label or, if I click on, I see tools, it was show me the one blog post it related to that label etcetera.

Now, obviously, it keeps bringing up the same blog post, because at the moment we’ve only got three blog posts, but that is absolutely crucial and it’s this means now that students can all users can navigate my blog through the labels that I’m creating or work through. The titles of each blog post, which are organized by dates now, let’s look at a little bit more than these gadgets, because these can really build up and make our blog look particularly interesting and really give it a nice look and feel we can add gadgets.

Now, I’m going to add one more gadget to the side, I’m a real fan of adding my gadgets to the side. You can see that you can add gadgets in different places here and you’re just going to have to experiment and work with these gadgets and you’ll see that some of them we will need to add to the top of the page and I’ll come back to that. In a minute, but I’m going to add another gadget which is going to be in this particular case, I’m going to have a gadget which gives me the blog stats shows me how many people have visited my website or my blog.

So I’m going to click on here. It’s going to offer me various options and I’m going to go for this one here, there’s just a very simple format, which is just a number this one. Here’s got like a little graphic along with it as well, but I’m just going to put a little number there total pageviews. It can be the title. I can overwrite that and I’m going to click on save now one of the things that I can do when I click on save and that that’s MMI is that I can now decide well I’m going to have that underneath here I don’t want.

I want my labels first because my labels are to do with actually finding the content. Those are really important and I’m going to add one more label, which is a search engine always worth having a search engine when you’ve got a very small blog like this. It’s very unlikely that really the the searching is going to be of particular interest, but if you want to just click here, you can add a search box and it will link and click on here.

You’ve got various settings that you can use and just showing you some of the possibilities. So you can configure your search box and we’ve now added a search box which allows our users to actually search the blog and again scroll down and click on, save. To actually add that sorry, so now we’ve got four I’m going to click on save arrangements to make sure that’s all been saved, and now we should notice if we go to view blog, that we’ve got a search engine and we’ve got labels.

We’ve got an archive and we’ve even got a total page views and we’ve had eleven page views so far, and that really has been just me, keep going back onto the web and looking so, you can see we’re starting to produce quite an interesting blog. It’s already starting to look a little bit more lively and nicely organized. One thing is, though, at the moment all it is is a blog we’ve got no additional pages, and one of the features of blogger is that we can actually have pages where we have static information.

The blog is the dynamic information, that’s being continually added to the web, to the blog and the bought. Your blog posts are being added to the blog, and you can, of course, search those. But you can have additional information which might be saying about me page or a list of publications that you’ve done. Obviously, it depends if you’re a class, if you’re doing a class blog, it might be a list of your students and it might be the curriculum or timetable of your classes.

It might be a list of files that the students can download, there’s all sorts of things that we could add into pages and that’s what we’re going to start to look at now. Now so far we have been looking at our blog and we’ve got this lovely blog and it’s all sort of growing and coming together and it’s working pretty well. In fact, sorry, I’m showing you the older version. There we’ve done new one now with the search engine hands the stats, but we haven’t got any pages and, as I said, we can add pages chat box.

So let’s look at how we do that and there’s a couple of things about this. So, first we’re going to come back to our blogs and we’re going to do what I always do, which is use this drop-down menu here. So I’m looking at the teacher training articles blog I’m going to click here and I’m going to come down to pages and we can add as many paid there might be a limit actually, but we can add create pages for our blog.

So I’m going to click on new page, ok, so going to add a new page and this new page, I’m going to call it about me because remember I took away the about me gadget on the side and rather do a kind of about me page. Okay, now just to save time, I’m going to quickly copy and paste some text from my own blog and just paste that in so here I am on my own blog I’m going to copy this text here, okay and then I’m going to copy that now.

One thing to remember is to paste that in using this remove formatting. Don’t forget that, because here I’m, for example, copying something that she’s in HTML. So I’m going to click on that and the first thing I’m going to do is select all of that and choose remove formatting and it kind of comes down to the right size. Remember to now select that and give it the heading title. So this is now the about mean, it’s probably likely that you would add a picture or some article or something like that, and I’m going to publish that.

So we’ve now added page and it’s got a title and it’s got some information. We’re not going to do anything about this, we’ll come back and look at this at a later stage anyway, but we’re going to just publish that – and hopefully now we have got an extra page on our blog. Let’s just have a look at our blog and see if that’s worked and click on the block to open the blog up. Remember, we’ve just produced an extra page and there is nothing there and that’s what I was expecting, because, even though we have produced a new page, we haven’t actually produced here what we call a kind of menu system where the pages will be viewed, because that is Actually, a gadget if we want to have our pages, for example here or our pages listed here, we can have our pages listed in all sorts of places.

Obviously, the most obvious place just like in a website so having them at the top. We now need to add the menu gadget or pages gadget to allow us to access those pages and that’s what I’m going to do in the next article. Now, I’m going to point something out to you when you’re working with blogger – and you can, if we just if you notice here you can actually from here edit these gadgets – you don’t really have to do what I’m doing, which is always go back to this page.

Here, let’s just um just publish this a minute and it’s telling me there’s an error because I haven’t got any pages added yet paper, the actual page menu, as I’ve said, if I just click back here and come down to the layout, what we can do now And we’re going to do this at the top here. Is that we’re going to add a gadget and the gadget that we’re going to add is one that says let’s. I think it should be here.

Pages display a list of standalone pages on your blog and I’m going to click on that, and it’s going to ask me how I want it to look so I’m going to have the home one and I’m going to have the about me. So home will be my blogging about me. Is this new one that I’ve added? I can do a bit of formatting in terms of design, etc. I’r just going to save that for now. Okay, so that’s the name of that that notice, where that is now save that arrangement and see what happens now when we come back to the blog, if we now view the blog magically, we now have two buttons at the top.

One takes me to a blog, and one takes me to a page called about me and that really now is starting to look like a website almost or a blog and a website. And of course we can produce as many pages as we want. So you make pages, but you also need to add the pages gadget to allow access to them. But what you’re basically doing here is adding up a menu system. Now, let’s look what happens when we add an additional page just to make that deadlier.

So, let’s imagine going to have another page when we go to the pages area now and we’re going to add a new page, so click on new page and this page again you want to give it a title. So I’m going to call this page. My latest talks, for example, of course it could be class, it could be a list of students or whatever, and I’m just going to imagine here that I’m just putting in some information about my latest talks so just putting that there very quickly just to show you What happens going to publish that so click on there just going to publish that and we’ve now got two pages created, and that is my latest talks and about me now.

Let’s view the blog and you’ll notice again that this has not been added so we’re going, we now need to come in. Go to that pages one and then add this one and say: yes, we want to add the pages to this particular menu. Okay, so you’d have to keep doing that, I’m afraid now. I do think. If I remember rightly, there is a kind of default button that I can click on. That automatically adds my pages without me.

Having to remember to do it also note that you can drag these around and put them in a different order, if you want to your most quite likely to put your homepage first now, that might be not might not be the case. I’r like I’ve got that wrong. That might be me confusing using WordPress and blogger anyway. Just keep that in mind that you may find yourself adding new pages to your blog and those blue pages not being added to your menu at the top, and therefore you just need to physically go in and do those not a problem with blogger is has just Got so many things, and it’s very difficult for me to know when to stop in terms of what would I consider to be an introductory course to blogger, and if we come back here and now went back to the blog and we looked through this menu.

You’ll see that we’ve hardly touched anything we’ve looked at posts, we’ve looked at pages and we’ve looked a little bit at layout. Now I’m going to point out a couple of very important settings for you first one I want to point out: is this one? If I click on settings here – and one thing you may want to do at some point – is delete your blog and if you want to do that, click on settings and then come down right to the bottom to other, and it says here: delete blog or export Blog import blog and just for that this introductory set, of course, is I’m just going to click on that.

This is just going to introduce this one thing, and that is that is how you delete your blog. You click on that button there and you can delete your blog, so its settings and all the way back down to the bottom and other, and you can delete your blog from there. Now I’m going to point out a couple of other really important settings just before I finish off this introductory course scroll down again go to settings and if you look on the basic ones, you’ve got a couple of really interesting settings here.

First of all, you can add a description and that description will be searched by Google’s. It’s a really good idea to have a nice description of what your blog is about now. Also, Google, you have Google Ads, you can use snapchat, you have snapchat ads, so you use those platforms and you put an ads on them. So you use, you know you use the placement and you will create and manage the ads of a client. Alright, the difference between those two services is that paid media is a monetary or o.

I service. So, basically, when, if a client is investing with you, he will make a return of investment. So the thing with paid media is that you will make a return of our investment for your client. Compared to you know, content management, community management – you won’t make any you know visible return of investment. Of course it’s important, but you are not making return of investment and that’s my biggest point.

But the thing is that if you are only doing content management or community management for a company, if the company is going, you know nuts, if it’s not going so well or if, let’s say there is a recession or the economy is not so good, you will Be in trouble, so I would say to always: you know, diversify between paid media and also you know those social return of investment. Yeah thanks, I’m happy to be here Awesome, so we’re Talking about what is a CMS and which one should you Use for your website, Can you tell us a little Bit about what a CMS is So CMS stands for. Content management system and it’s basically an easier way to put pages, live on your Website or blog post manage your image media Library all that kinda stuff Awesome and now, let’s Go over the top three CMSs, I’m going to be a little bit! Biased in this episode, That’s my disclaimer right there, I’m going to start with WordPress WordPress is the most popular Content management system out there today powers Over 1/3 of the internet, It has tons of plug-ins tons of options and it’s pretty resourceful And probably my favorite Reason for why I use WordPress is the community behind it.

They’re such a large community that that just all comes Together, there’s meetups, there’s wordcamps and everyone just helps each other out For sure, and I mean with 40,000 plugins almost like you, have no end to the kind of functionality you can add to your CMS Absolutely. So what are some other CMSs that we can possibly use For sure, yeah,,’cause everybody’s heard of WordPress, so Yeah Drupal is another very popular one.

It’s been described to me as Kinda, like a Swiss cheese, you need to be a bit more Technical to use Drupal, but it does have a lot Of different features compared to WordPress, it has A different user experience and ultimately it’s been Used for a lot of things like government websites, And that kinda thing because of its ability to be a little more secure in some areas: yeah Yeah and it’s definitely One not for like the smaller business type sites as Enterprise or large Corporation type sites right, Yeah, yeah for sure Yeah Joomla – is another really Popular one as well, It’s got a really good.

Community – and it’s got, I think, the second highest Market share after WordPress, Although WordPress is Like 30 % – and I think, like It’s, a giant Joomla’s like 6 %, so just A little bit of a gap there between the top two but Joomla’s, also a really awesome CMS to use You wan na make sure that you’re using the most latest version. If possible, There are two active versions: Available that you can use Yeah, you definitely wan na stay on the most recent branch.

Of any CMS, if possible, Yeah that’s just a best practice there. All right. Let’s talk! About really figuring out, which one should you use right Like what are some of the first Steps we wan na think about. Definitely you wan na Make sure that you know what your requirements Are for your website, So how does it need to Be for your users to use! How are you going to go about? Actually creating posts and what are the processes that you’re going to use as part of that And then once you have all that you can kinda look at each CMS and see what are the extensions and Themes that are available And see if they’ll match the Requirements that you have for your website, That makes sense and It all comes down to figuring out what’s right for you Like, I will stand by WordPress all day, but WordPress may not be Right for your situations, Figuring out those requirements, With those applications are super important, Yeah and usually a Lot of the CMS websites have a great community Because they are open-source, So tell us a little about open-source Yeah for sure.

So all Those top three CMSs they’re open-source they’re, also free, which is very important, Open-source, basically Means that the source code used to build WordPress Or Drupal or Joomal, it’s all open and available, and anybody can contribute to it as well Right on So that just means it’s Constantly being improved by the community and the Community’s also checking to make sure that, what’s Being added is secure All right, so we want our Website to look good right, So is that something to think About when we’re choosing what platform we use and how easy it is to create those sites Totally so different themes will have different attributes like They may have a sidebar on the left or the right, Or they may be all one column in a never-ending scrolling website.

Different themes will Allow you to accomplish, maybe what you need by Having custom backgrounds or custom menus, so you Wan na look at the options for your theme and you also don’t wan na discount like premium themes, A lot of premium themes out, there will add extra functionality, So you’re, essentially Paying for the theme, even though the CMS is free, That’s an awesome option. There’s premium plug-ins as well, Depending on what you Need the default themes that come with it are Sometimes a little restrictive, so you wan na take a look at What the default themes are: Try some different free themes and see what the options are to get your site to look.

The way you want it to Yeah and what was kind Of controversial at first in WordPress and 5.0 remember Gutenberg, Oh yeah, Gutenberg is essentially The new WordPress editor, The whole point is to kinda mirror the printing press of just Blocks and everything else, Yeah, what you see is what you get So as you’re typing — Whizzy, wig, Yeah whizzy wig, Thank you So as you’re typing Yeah, you see exactly what you would see on the website, So that comes default by WordPress.

It has made the experience. Especially for first-time users easier to create, Then there are page Builders like Elementor or Beaver Builder or WPBakery Builder, that makes that user-experience A little bit easier, If you’re going on the WordPress realm and really want something: That’s pretty customizable, you don’t have to be a Web developer or guru to build that website For sure CMSs are having to Make things a little easier, You know, there’s a lot of Different places out there that are creating website builders that are super easy for people to use, and so it’s helpful for These open-source CMSs to make the user-experience a little easier All right.

So another thing we probably have to think about. Is the hosting requirements We’re going to need for our applications? Talk us through a little Bit of what that looks like For sure, so most of These are running on PHP, so you want the most Updated version of PHP, especially if you want The latest features and to make sure that you’re Getting those security updates? Yes, So that’s really important.

A lot of hosting companies will offer one-click Install for most of these major CMS applications, Some hosting companies Especially when I first started creating websites – and I Was on a super budget, but also a very secure host, it took me a long time. It took me like three days to install WordPress and they have a famous 5-minute install You wan na look and see, and maybe talk to your hosting company.

About what the options are for getting this CMS Installed on your server Right,,’cause, taking three Days to get a website going just the beginning is not Something you wan na do There’s a lot of places out there that will do managed hosting Especially with WordPress There’s managed WordPress that has just already automatically installed some extra security features And then what most people End up going with is like a cPanel type Hosting Since it does have that one-click install with Installatron or Softaculous, Whatever they’re, using Totally Couple of clicks of a button and then it’s there, You can start building and Designing, however, you want All right, so the real Reason I brought you on to this.

Episode is really talking about security with CMSs They’re open-source. You Constantly have to update them, so there’s lots of things. That we need to really think about to make sure Our stuff’s protected Totally well with It being open-source not only are all the good People contributing code, but all the bad people can Also, look at that code as well and find vulnerabilities. So that’s something that a lot of people are concerned about.

Especially with WordPress being so popular, it is a large target. The CMS itself is actually quite secure because there’s a great Community checking things out. You wan na make sure that you’re Not installing more plug-ins than you need Trying to make sure that you’re keeping everything up to date. If you have a managed solution, They’ll, do it for you, Which is awesome. Yup, You wan na make sure That you have something some kind of security plug-in That’s monitoring your site, letting you know if there is A problem that they detect There are some that can also Add features for protection like adding Two-Factor Authentication, which is a second password on your phone that you need to enter in Order to get into your website There’s all kinds of Cool security, plug-ins security utilities that You can use with your CMS Yeah, I know with WordPress the top security plug-ins That come to mind, of course, Sucuri has This security plug-in, but there’s also Wordfence And then with having an SSL on your site, super important just to Encrypt that password,’cause, you have to login The beauty with CMSs that You can access them anywhere right, Yup, So you wan na make sure that wherever you’re accessing’em Your password isn’t being sniffed out by someone in the middle Yeah.

You wan na, be careful. You don’t wan na. Maybe do It in like an airport or coffee shop, Wi-Fi Unless you’re using a VPN.’Cause, if you are sitting There on public, Wi-Fi and there’s a hacker sitting next to you, they could sniff your password As you’re typing it in And then the next thing you know, there’s a bunch of spam pages on your site that you need to deal with. So what about firewall? I’ve heard that it should be important.

Should be added to the site, What’s the validity with that? Definitely one of the nice things about a website firewall Is that it will virtually patch your CMS? So if There is a security issue, essentially the firewall’s Taking care of that, It surrounds your website. And if somebody’s trying to exploit a vulnerable Plug-In on your site, the firewall will catch. That attempt and block it They’ll see a blocking page.

Meanwhile, all of your legitimate Visitors are being sped-up because of the global Network of the firewall and content delivery network, So we’ve figured out what Cms we’re wanting to use We’ve got it installed, how Do we go about documentation, learning the program itself? There are some awesome Resources out there, You talked about WordPress WPBeginner has some awesome? Training guides and tutorials There’s an awesome community.

For all of these CMSs, with very active, like support forums, That’s a great way to go about it And then, obviously, if you have a developer, Or something like that, that’s helping you get some customization. They can usually help you. You wan na make sure that You’re documenting everything as part of your website as well, so It’s just going to help you Later on down the line, if you know you have a List of all the users, all the plug-ins and that kind of stuff and you’re keeping that up-to-date Yeah, especially if you Have people on your team that needs to access the site, Giving them documentation on What they should be accessing, what they shouldn’t be, because sometimes the wrong click can Make just chaos happen Totally and good user passwords making sure that you’ve Got the right role levels assigned to your users? Whether they’re just an editor or author or contributor Right Those roles are usually built into the CMS to allow you to make Sure they can only access what they should be allowed to access.

You only wan na grant admin privileges to somebody for as long as they need it, and that kind of thing Now, with this website, I know many of the entrepreneurs or even solopreneurs out there with their stuff, has Many hats to wear right, Sometimes maintaining it, isn’t always something that they have time for Yeah. It may not be top of mind Right. What should we be? Doing with those updates Yeah, definitely I would say that it’s very important to make sure that you always retain Access to your property, your web property, So I’ve seen cases where a developer will leave a client and Leave with the passwords and then you can’t get Into your hosting account, or you can’t into WordPress, It’s not ideal, so make sure you always have access to those things And make sure that you’re just practicing safe security practices.

Throughout all of it Right on and with WordPress and Joomla everything else, we Talked about it earlier, make sure you’re at least going in there every now and then to update It to the next latest version: It’s not only for performance, but it is for security Yeah for sure I mean with some CMSs there might be different branches that are still being actively developed So having a firewall That can virtually patch and make sure if there Are any vulnerabilities you have a little bit of an extra window.

‘Cause whenever there’s a Security update released, the hackers are looking going. “: Okay, here’s the old file; “, here’s the new file; oh look: “! There’s the security flaw!”, So it can be –. Then send all our bots out Totally it can a matter of minutes hours after a security patch is released before there’s active attacks in the wild So definitely update your Sites as soon as possible, Auto-updates are amazing, WordPress has auto-updates on most hosts, Yeah and or you can hire developers like most designers or Developers will have like a website care plan, so you Can them just do it for you, If you’re using WordPress, Godaddy ProSites or ManageWP has the one-click updates.

So you can update all your Plug-Ins and your themes, You even have a safe update option. So what it does is It’ll update your site, take a snapshot of before and after and make sure they’re all the same. And if there’s an issue It’ll retract, back to it It’s a free option for you Yeah, that’s perfect! You hit on a good point, It’s not a set it and forget. It thing with a website: You need to make sure that You’re maintaining it And that it’s part of your business, it’s how your business looks.

So you should definitely Make sure that you have some kind of plan for keeping It up-to-date and maintained All right. The last point that we should really talk about is really your time and investment with the CMS of your choice. Talk us through a little Bit of that about that For sure we’ll you Wan na go in and realize that it’s going to take you Time to setup all the pages that you want Right: It may take you time to find the right plug-ins, so you wan na kinda think through whether You want to hire somebody or get some help with that To find the functionality and the look and feel that you’re after Definitely budget when It comes to free CMSs.

Well, you don’t have to pay for the CMS. So that’s helpful Right! But it’s customization and security and all Those things that you definitely wan na consider as part of the whole package of having a website On-going costs for domain WHOIS privacy, SSL certificates, Right firewall, All that kind of stuff, All that good things Totally yeah, there’s A lot of accessories that go on with having a website, So you wan na figure like I said at the beginning what those requirements are And then make sure you have a plan for how you’re going to budget and the timelines around When you wan na launch Perfect and with Drupal And Joomla they are, they do have that smaller market share, So there’s really specific requirements of when you wan na use those applications.

Those developers that you hire for Drupal or Joomla might cost more than a WordPress designer as well For sure yeah, and you wan na make sure that you’re really looking at the work that the developer has done and make sure that it Matches what you’re, after There’s lots of great Websites out there that you know can tell you more About how to pick a developer depending on what you’re after Well? Hitchhiker’s Guide to Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs): Ramanan Balakrishnan

Today it’s about Hitchhiker’s Guide to generative adversarial networks, very fancy. Name again, they seem to be very popular this year. Also, but let’s get started, let’s see how far we can understand this basis. So most of you might have heard about this. When I was for some semantics pre, we work with e-commerce, focused companies.

We do a lot of machine learning, algorithms data primarily and also intelligence layers. On top of them, we help them cover a lot of automated tasks like categorization brought us matching automated entity, recognition, proper products and, of course, the whole slew of offering this product matching distributed. Why do we study generative networks? What do I mean by generative networks and what are the things that involve, and then there are slightly theoretical part we don’t leave. I think it will be little bit of math, but should be interested for the fundamentals of how adversarial networks are set up for how brands themselves are structured and introduction to the system.

And then, this is why I didn’t want you to leave, because there are huge developments in the last year and then I’d like to motivate them through applications of how they can. We really visualize, and this should be a whole bunch of demos and seeing that it is a guide. This is like across the whole debate. I have links everywhere in the slice and then hopefully it points you in the right direction and then finally ganzar not going to be the most promising link queen Ganz are very promising, but they are going to be the solution to everything that you see.

So, let’s look at the issues which are commonly faced and, of course, again, improvements and the path forward. Moving up to the research is being conducted, the mic still works, so the slides alone. One is like a very expensive painting and the other is 30 seconds on an Indian processor. So let’s look at this and then turns out it’s the one on the right and then so that seems to be so I here. I think El Gamal and it’s group they together MIT, is study and then a lot of people voted on the wrong paintings. So again these are house generated networks are structure. You essentially want to be able to do forgeries of high-end artwork make money that way. So why do we want to study generator networks we want to understand and that those complex information right? We want to be able to study, not just classifiers, not just discriminators, not just acting performance of numbers.

We want to be able to understand if there’s any other language behind them and then most of the time there is like high dimensionality in the objects being studied. So the probability distributions are no longer simple of one or two variable whatever we wanted. I mention it. What if the dimensions are in the hundreds or thousands you want to be able to positive correctly, and maybe that helps us finally, like in the previous example, we don’t want to just model them.

We want to maybe generate additional samples based on some criteria, and I think this title to the previous of themselves on reinforcement learning, because one of the proposed uses of Ganz is to augment the world environment. So say you have a reinforcement, agent and the agent starts learning. Maybe Ganz can help fit in and simulate the environment in which the agent learns. So they pretty much tie in together quite nicely at that point, so generative networks so good to study them, and then let me just motivate how they are going to be structured right.

I’ll take a very simple example: there is me xx very messy very soon by then. Let’s take these points, that’s a whole bunch of points on this distribution, and then these are the points which we want. The model think of these as data points to our structure. Now one way to do it is something called very popular. It’s like maximum likelihood. So wherever we see the points being recorded, we adjust our probability.

Distribution function, sort of upwards. So later, if you look at the blue line, it sort of models how the points are distributed in that particular dimension, and this is very common – this a subset may be the most popular one of how generator functions are formulated mathematically. You can define a probability. Distribution function, P and then the P is based on parameters theta and then you start describing the speed of model which gives a sample X conditioned on or is greatly dependent on these other parameters.

We want to optimize these parameters, do something like the actual operation, where we do gradient descent back propagation of those things, but basically operations where you want to optimize the parameters theta, and we want to get to be right and from P, we get this distribution and From there you get the point, so there are two approaches: P can be either explicitly defined or we ain’t be carefully.

That’s the one on the left hand, side explicit density functions, though, is that they’re like a whole way of approaches and then over here as a root nodes, you see all the popular approaches I just focused on a few for now, so that you get an understanding Of how everything is set up, so when you look at a operation which, like eggs, to get the explicit probability function, you can either do it as a retractable method.

So if you look at deep mind in the last one or two years, I think they came out with wave depth wave. That was where you enter text and then it automatically speaks in very realistic audio. The person speaking sounds like a serial person speaking and not like your old Microsoft thoughts they could now but supports which that useless, literally promise word by word from recording. So we’ve met one based on this sort of approach where they had fully visible belief, net, which are very popular wavelength.

But the problem was that it’s based on, like the probability of conditioning on every single input, because, like the sequential learners which was expecting to model the explicit density function, another very popular approach is the variation auto encoder, where, instead of aiming so, we don’t want to Get the perfect p, we set another function which is a lower bound on the. We call that maybe L and then that variational bound is sort of proven to be optimal in some situations, not at all.

But the idea is that you sort of optimize your function and then variational auto-encoders are at that stage where they tackle the lower bound would be existed. Entity function, that’s the left, 3/4. Now, on the right hand, side again, you have also changes which are very similar. They do repeatedly sampling and they’re two approaches to it, but for now F be the end vation auto-encoders. They are very popular because they’ve been giving very good results as, for instance, they tend to be functions.

What do I mean so? Instead of assuming as a P exists or itself aiming to get the P, the probability function, we just assume that it exists, so we say that okay, there might be a fee. So things moving very fast, and I guess before I finish my thoughts, I might be another three or four preprint. So let’s look at the answer. More detail, I like sex, like just talk about the structure, how they fit in a sort of training, is involved. The easiest way, like I said, is adversarial networks.

So there were, we do players over here by players. I mean eventually two models: dude, your networks, two systems. Currently we just give them as column players right. So that’s a tea energy. The names has become apparent very quickly. Why sorry just check? Okay? Okay, now it was maybe it was not selected, so the adversarial gain can be formulated with like a game theory formation. For those of you have an idea.

It’s like the national system between two different agents that the local equilibrium, hopefully between the two, which sort of arrives at a stable solution and then the two names are for discriminator and generator. So one is the forgers. The other is the expert, and then they generally are playing together where they are trying to compete against each other. There are also formulations where you can think of it as a cooperative game, but so far the way of think of it as like us, agent, white tooth peoples, might against each other sort of skills are easier understanding and it me James to defeat the other.

So if you think of this framework, let’s look at this picture again, so this is pretty much how you can explain how a can is structured together. So let’s look at the right side. First, where we have this sort of noise, so you can think of this noise as the vector space. Let’s just call it a latent vector space and I’ll denote it by a vegetable V and then this V sort of fed into a neural network, the generator and then the generator has a function.

Let’s add a G of G and then it starts generating samples. So it’s just start generating one example of another based on some random price, at least initially, so it starts generating output on the other side over here you have a sample data set, and all of these are real light. Images are real life examples, so these are other fake ones, but the real one, and then these real ones are going to be where we sample our true values.

So what happens is that you have this network at the top? That’s our second network that will be called our discriminator, then very simply the discriminator is either fed real values. G of X is the function then or it’s pet output from the Jen that becomes D of G of Z. So you have the effect. So G of G of Z, one of the view feet one or the other into the discriminator. And then it’s like a binary classification problem and I just raised it the real image or it’s a fake image.

It keeps getting again again and then these two systems are what we are going to frame now. One of them starts generating the other one starts discriminating. So let’s look at the really easy. I want to think office or the discriminator, which is one at the top. It thinks of whether quanta to determine per sample is real or fake. So when the sample is from the real set, it wants to say it’s one where the sample is from the fake set, it sort of starts.

This function enter zero. So that’s like the complication of how it goes about it. This is how we want the discriminator to behave, and then this is a very fancy way of saying the two lines here. So we define a loss, function, the J for the discriminator as a function of its parameters, theta and then, if you just close your eyes or squint real hard, you can just see here where T of X is the ones which need to become one and D Of GOC pretty much in a 1 minus, so the idea is that by combining these two expectation values, we now have a easier way of defining how the log function needs to be written for the discriminator.

So you can think of this as the final loss which is going to be calculated and back propagated through the network or the discriminator updating. So we have the discriminator, it’s quite straightforward: 1. 0, it once discriminated, then we have the generator for the generator it. The idea is to put the discriminator, so we can sort of use like the recursive thinking about it. What are the send winner? It needs to pull the discriminator and the simplest way is to just define it as i-.

So you take the discriminators function. You put a minus sign, you call it for the generator. This is sort of like a min/max game, where you make sure that one of them is able to defeat the other. There are a few problems with this, because the think of them as two separate networks, so, if that this later becomes optimal, then the generator stops learning because one of the lofts becomes zero. You put a negative sign: doesn’t matter zero, so you sort of fool.

The generator is thinking that it’s no longer learning. So there are some heuristic motivation to get another way of defining the last function for the generator, and one of them is this. So, G of Z, that’s the output function for the generator, and the of UFC needs to be one over where this is different, because the generator wants to fool the discriminator. So he wants to convince people that becomes one.

So you write like a non saturating. Heuristic function – and this is pretty much to say, is that the expectation needs to become one for the generator output. This is how the generator thinks about it. There are other ways like I said this is formulated in a maximum likelihood type of environment. So you can pretty much pass the equation where you sell here, like the logistic sigmoid function on top of the output.

This is just for defense, so that you understand that this is actually functionally equivalent to the maximum likelihood estimators I was talking about, so this is pretty much just a way of recasting it. So you can think of this as like the two popular ways of how to define a lot function for the generator. So now we have 2 log functions, one for the denominator, one for the generator. What do we do? Stochastic gradient descent, most common, so we take two mini batches.

We take one from the real samples X and then we run the vectors on the generator we get another batch of output, so we have too many Westerns one real one fake. We pass it through the discriminator it gives you answers, gives you ones and zeroes and then, based on that, you can simultaneously run back propagation on the two networks, so you calculate the loss for the generator you use it to update the weights for the generator you Calculate the loss for the discriminator you use it to update the weights for the discriminator the setup with each one, whatever loss function to calculate can be used to update both networks, and this sort of joint training is why it sort of pillars together.

So, for a long time, so this was back in yeah. I don’t have a theory, but this was back year 2014. I think when he had good fit on the other sort of formulated material system and then for a long time, there was not enough for successful computational EDC implementation forever and something is called lab. Ganzalo prescient betterment operators and using that was slightly difficult and the whole thing didn’t take off until much later when we had our familiar congressional networks and deep conversion networks being applied to them.

So this was sometime in 2015, when a group proposed that you take your layers, you make them all convolutional, remove any pooling or run pulling that you have and then eventually you start to expand, generalization and turns out. The output of these sort of networks was much more clearer, higher resolution and also easier to Train. So just a few pointers here. So what happens here is this is the network of the generator.

So we have two networks. This is probably the generator. So you look here: it takes like a vector set and then it has a whole voice. Job for convolution excited convolutions over here it makes it bigger and bigger and bigger. So you can think of the final output as like an image which has been generated. So this image is then going to go into more traditional classifiers and then that’s the one with such distinguishing, whether it’s a real image or a fake image.

So this like the deep convolutional again which were set up in order to successfully make it work together. So that’s about it hope that wasn’t too much of technical detail. But now again we look at very interesting applications. So with that setup of how generated disk invaders are now working with each other, you know an idea of the different components involved and, let’s just see how that translates to real-world applications and the first thing, which is also from the same paper, which I was referring To DC gas, and when I saw this, I was like blown away for a few minutes.

I had to sit down and think about it. So what happened was that if you remember what we went and all the complications that are all sorted, we look at the example and you see very strong similar. So when the generator starts generating output, people were able to model the ways in which the outputs are related to each other. Let me give an example here, so there were a whole bunch of pictures. All of these are generated pictures.

None of them are real pictures. So all of these pictures were generated by the generator or a specific position in the latent vector space. So you has a generator. It takes some noise type of input and then gives these photos of men with blocks. Then for some other point in the vector space. It’s just leaves photos of men. So what do you do you subtract it out, and then you can see where this is headed.

When you add a woman with glasses from the vector space in the noise in the latent vector space, the generator seems to be able to transform it like this. So if you remember the words awake approach where King Midas screen plus man, that was here, but it’s out of the way where you start seeing that the vector is able to identify the important components in each base – and this was something that’s quite interesting.

It’s not just segments of the image or it’s not just lines and edges which are being identified, but it’s really the concept of the image, and this seems to be quite interesting of how the generator networks are learning. That’s another research paper. Most of it is going to be this so just assume that the link will be there, so you take like a very strong image or very high-quality image, so this is like a very good painting.

I guess I think I think editing the painting and then you down some to the painting say it’s a thousand five thousand pixels you make it much smaller, wonderboy, Boris, exactly and then you put into Photoshop, and then you run the bicubic interpolation or some simple method. I hope it’s appear, but this is very blurry, so this photo turns out when you approximate each point by the neighbors, you get a blurry result.

However, it is possible to take this sort of lorry down. Sampled images run it through something which is called an Ed’s organic. So many name again, so you run through it again and then it’s not generating much more clear images. So it starts giving high-resolution images which sort of end up being typical improvement over what was previously proposal. The super resolution seems to be possible now interactive Gantt.

I guess all of us went to school at some point in it. Remember those is art, class and officials that you draw a painting and everyone goes. The scenery draw a little dot. The interesting part was that for each of these updates, it was of the order of seconds, so we are literally able to hear real-time edits of the images. So that’s what interactive again! I think there was another impressive article where they took a photo of a lady and they started adding black colors.

So these are like the rough images, but it actually starts generating high resolution images once related to settle down image to image translation again very popular. Most of you might have already seen. It also referred to as a fix to fix, and this is sort of what was being done. So, on the left hand, side we have input on the right hand, side, they are expected outputs from the generator again.

This is not a real picture of a street with cars on it, a person sort of describes how it will look through segments and then it starts modeling it and such if outputting images which are trying to fake people. Similarly, if you have spatial photographs there, you have a new satellite and it starts taking photographs of these earth, and then you start seeing growth and maps be auto-generate. It can go even further.

It can even start doing impressive results which are being done in Photoshop like if you want to convert from black and white to color. You want to go from bad dancing to a nice Street if you’re an architect and you design a house, and you want ads where the doors and windows are going. It may look impressive here, but if you zoom in there might be something very weird about it, but I guess it’s part of the process of how these registers learning.

Of course, you can do things like this, where you draw a rough sketch and then it starts giving realistic interpretation of how it might look in the given domain so create website over here you can go up, try it. They have very impressive other models, not just fiction books here, text to image synthesis. So a few years ago there was a very popular article where you give a photo, and then you start describing the photo automatically.

I think Facebook even now does it. If you have got a photo to Facebook, it starts telling you that scribing add keywords to the photo which sort of describe what’s happening there we’d like to do it in Reverse here. So what we do is that we start writing sentences and these vectors sort of condition our input. So when we feed to the generator we sort of add additional input into the vectors and then these sort of vectors, the text vectors, which are encoded as it’s not vector space, they start determining the output of how the image is going to look like and then Even for me, like I, couldn’t do this right, so you start with describing this and then it starts coming out with realistic photos of how a bird with a red V and with like a black feathers standing out.

There also possible very impressively for flowers and some other aspects, so this is literary translation in the context of going from text descriptions to being able to go to images again. These are again very terrific examples and all of that, but seems impressive, that it even works in the first equation: image completion – and what do I mean by this? It’s about corrupted images right, so there are whole bunch of celebrities here you might recognize a few.

I don’t recognize most of them, but you cut out their nose and then you train the network on how to do in paintings over these images, and then it starts to identify that adult is most oftenly the structure over there. It starts to match the color and the shape with the rest of their faces, and again all of these are ways in which the whole system becomes a part of it. So it starts to generate sort of realistic results and again generative network is the center of it.

You start noticing a trend. Most of the results are 2016 or 2017. So that’s like the last year. It’s when was the things that are happening and it keeps improving day to day, multiple Gant, which I think this 2017 now right now, you months ago, we’re back again and people are able to describe them as combining to gain networks, so, instead of having a generator Discriminator by itself, you take another pair of generator discriminators, and then you put them together and you start training them to identify relationships across domains.

So what happens here is that you go shopping and then you have a shoe which is in a particular style, and then you want to get a bag which matches that scarf. So they started being able to generate samples which are consistent across their whole catalogue. Very impressive results and then there’s a new one, so this was called disco pants and the other one was called psycho again. Don’t have to remember the names but yeah.

So there’s this also well here and they were able to like take a photo or a article of the horse trotting around and one network was able to do it in to convert it into a zebra. So when I looked at this, I thought. Okay, that looks like a zebra, but the trails pervious. Then such zebra trails are not striped, but I didn’t know that so yeah and then you could also do it the other way around where zebras could be converted into a horse.

So these sort of games were able to do it in either way. So you have tracked against all the cool games and then it’s just going to be all the way down. You keep going with gems, so very impressive results and, of course, a few more minutes and then we’ll talk about issues that were happening. What is the state of the art research and if you want to go to the nips this year, I think solidly closes the papers have been accepted.

But most always, I could end up talking about things like these, so stability and other problems that you just recorded, increase them. So finding equilibrium are hard because, like I said this is not a explicit last function, which is just being optimized, we need to be able to do sort of a joint system. We’re optimizing address one network, but together with another one, so the local equilibrium points are sometimes local minima, which you end up being stuck in non convergence, has always been a problem, especially especially something called both collapse.

So what do I mean by that so say? You have pictures of dogs and the idea is that you want to start generating fake pictures of dogs. You feel it like a Labrador of world or golden retrievers, and we start reaching with all these types of dogs. But what happens is that, as mentioned like the view we mean like the few talks earlier and some people think that the networks are of learns to cheat and it starts realizing that okay, I will just start generating bugs and those are like.

Well, it’s dogs go up, so it ends up that we sort of collapse into like a diversity problem. The network starts generating very, very similar-looking examples and, of course, there’s one thing which I sort of skipped because wasn’t very apparent over there, which is the differentiability requirement or the loss function and the whole network. So you morality of C R, T of Z – and you have read both of the either of the functions – need to be differentiable and go to much of the mathematics.

But the idea was that this constrains us sort of continuous functions, just being output, so working with text has been a problem in this area, so most of the functions are most of the outputs. When I notice a trend are all images, there are approaches which are looking at generating text with realistic results, but not into convincing so forth. There are both close, but let’s see, and how do we improve can’t so stability has been a problem for a long time.

I’ll just leave all of the tears okay, so the first view are on hacks of how to improve and the sewage container has like a very popular repository when he did this to it. So when the two networks are learning against each other, they’re, not very sure, on how stable the outputs are going to perform, so people are looking at different ways: the expanding to load when almost all of them are sitting 17, but most of them are still trying On how to ensure that stability is a solved problem, one easy or one effective approach seems to be conditioning on how realistic the output looks so instance.

So how do you search the quality of a fake image right? Everyone has their own opinion. So when you start judging the quality of fixed images, people select defining it using other distance functions. I just messaged, I want one of them, so you start defining other loss functions. Essentially, the pixels are going to be numerical values which are being generated. So I would think that if you want to solve problems which are time, series or value based the same encoding system or again, as I don’t remember, of any specific approaches which I work. But if you look at an image when you actually type it out, it’s going to be a series of numbers, pixel values, so I think that might still work and those are not just discrete yet but quite sure it might work.

I don’t know. I can’t remember here of any specific examples. My next question is a winner hi. So when you showed the equation for this Renee, when you read it for this degenerative equation: okay, catalog, when you said it’s only finery, okay, what? If the problem is an equal person? So what happens is that when you start off initially, the discriminators has the option between zero and one, and the whole structure is based on whether the loss is like a finite value.

When the discriminators becomes confused between a half, so it says X is half that it has. That sort of the instability condition that ideally, when you start the training. So what happens? Is that at that point, you’re at the place where the generator is like completely as good as it can get, and then that’s essentially the stopping condition. So if you have the outer of the discriminator stuck at half or 0.

5, and then it cannot differentiate between the real and fake images, that’s at the point where you start seeing that you stop your condition and that sort of the end state of your training. Yes, yes, so the equilibrium condition is exactly that. The equilibrium position is that the disco mater fails to generate any difference between the between the two images, all right and ask questions right here in the middle hi yeah thanks Don.

So this is also strengthening stirring through the process the distributed effectively. Sorry, I couldn’t hear it quite clearly here: yeah, okay yeah, it was very interesting. That’s definitely what motivated me also, because I’m more using the classification problem, so this discriminator by itself might have significant uses in solving problems.

It might not be trained explicitly on the classification problem that you are trying to solve, but again there’s definitely some amount of transfer, learning or now want of retrain weights, which might be useful, I’m not sure but hope, I’m quite sure there are. But I stuff my mind: I’m not sure yes, but definitely something we should look out for with question weigh in that most of the applications which we saw was from the generator part.

Is there any like? Can we use the discriminator part for exactly? I think. That’s exactly what the previous question was also about, so I think the utility of the generator is what has been discussed so far. I also strongly believe that the discriminator needs could also be used, and I think, most of the times when you want to use the discriminator it’s sort of not at the image context, but maybe in the classification context, and some of those are quite useful.

We are not seeing anyone tries to use the discriminator for likes, imagenet, glasses or anything like that. I think for simple binary operation of like deciding whether an images force of a particular class or not. I think this matters are still able to do quite significantly whether they have been used anywhere so far for any classification problems not aware of any okay. If sorry can’t hear you a really, maybe my people, oh okay, better later so this motion is no.

Marketing tips to generate leads online for those of you who have no idea who I am, I am the founder of set up my ads calm. So if you want to generate leads – and you want to use attraction marketing to do it, okay, this talk is definitely for you, alright. So what I always want to do is make sure you understand the importance of the content that I put out because I put this out for you. Okay, I want you to get results. I want you to generate leads. I want you to make a lot of money and that’s why this content is produced, but what’s in it for you, okay, here’s what’s in it for you! If you want to build a brand and if you want to be a quote-unquote influencer okay, this is definitely going to be a talk for you if you want free traffic to your websites.

Okay, if you want leads for your business and if you want to make more money, my friend this article is for you and with that said, let’s dive into the content. So what is attraction? Marketing, okay by definition, attraction marketing? Is the process of drawing interest to a company product or service using carefully devised techniques? Okay, the goal is to attract potential customers to the way.

The item is bettered the sellers own life. The goal is to attract potential customers to the way. The item has bettered the sellers own life, alright, so, for example, okay, I have leveraged traffic, lead generation and marketing to grow several companies that generate over eight figures and combined revenue, okay as an internet marketer. So when I’m sharing these strategies, ok, I’m playing to you that the information that I’m sharing with you works because it can help you actually build a business, and you know every business out there.

I don’t care what it is. You can have the greatest product or service in the world, but if you’re not getting eyeballs on it, if you’re not getting traffic in front of it, you’re not going to make any money. Now, when you learn how to use traffic and lead generation – and you combine it with the traction marketing, it gets extremely powerful and attraction. Marketing is the reason why you tend to you know, follow the influencers that you typically read.

It’s the reason why, when a and that you look up to an entrepreneur or a business professional, they do something. You’re constantly feel yourself drawn to them. Okay, what they do was they leverage attraction marketing? I want to show you how you can do that with content. All right, so, let’s dive into the tips. Okay number one! You want to make a list of objections, and/or questions, okay, that your potential customers may have about your product or service all right.

So right now, okay, I want you to pause this article. I want you to grab a piece of paper. I want you to start to jot down some of the biggest objections, some of the questions that your potential customers may have about your products or services, and your goal is to simply jot those down and be able to position yourself through content to make sure that You’re the person – that’s answering all those questions.

Why? Because you know, when you’re the person answering all the questions: okay, you’re going to be the person that that individual looks towards when they have additional questions or objections about certain things. All right. This is how attraction marketing is built. So let me give you a couple of examples: okay, let’s say that you were a social media, advertiser. Okay, so, like myself, I teach marketing lead generation right, I’m teaching people how to get more.

You know eyeballs in front of their products or services. So what are the types of lists that I can create and questions that I can write down for future content all right, so here’s what I would do so, for example, if it’s social media advertising, I may say what are some of the things that people may Ask about social media media if they’re just getting started, they may say like. Should I run ads right, they may ask: how much should I spend or invest in advertising they may say: will it work for my business right? If I do social media advertising, is it going to actually work for me? What platform should I use? Should I use Facebook, so I use Instagram? Should I use Twitter? Can they may say you know what are some simple strategies for beginners, I’m just getting started? I’ve tried social media before what are some basic strategies, so one of the best things that you can do is jot down every single objection, every single question, anything that would come to mind, especially the bad things, and you be the person.

That’s actually answering that question via content and if you’re the person asking all the answering all the questions with content. Okay, when individuals are looking for answers, because they’re going to find you as the answering that question and there’s no better value that you can provide to the end user than to solve their problems and be the person answering their questions alright. So if you ever had problems creating content, just figure out what it is that you’re selling write down all the objections, all the questions that your potential customers may have and all you’ve got to do is simply answer those questions.

Alright, so that becomes your content and that becomes the information. That’s out there, it’s going to basically attract potential customers to you, which leads me to number two. You want to think of your business like a media company and what you think of your business like a media company. So one of the reasons you tend to go towards specific types of influencers or particular specific types of you know, business owners or anyone.

That’s in your particular niche or field, let’s say you’re working out, you tend to read a certain individual who is a fitness guru or whatever it may be. Okay and the reason you do that is because they’ve positioned themselves as a media company, you feel, like you have to go to that individual to get the information that you need to take your business to the next level. So I want you to start to think of your business like a media company, and in doing so you want to go.

Look at all the media companies around you go find all the publications, the magazines and all the things that produce content about your particular types of businesses and then what you can do is reproduce that type of content as well or use strategies that you see that Are attracting you to those publications, so here’s some basic tips to remember number one. You want to educate and entertain right.

If you look at most media companies, okay, they do very creative headlines. They know how to get you there. They know how to basically tie you into what it is they’re trying to basically share so make sure you do the exact same thing by educating and entertaining your audience. Okay, you also want to leverage trending topics alright, so if there’s something that happened in the world or if there’s something that’s going on your specific industry or something that maybe is controversial, okay be able to produce the information and content about that topic, and you will Definitely see yourself attracting more people, so an example of that would be recently.

Facebook and Instagram went down for literally several hours. I think over 10 hours, I think, was the longest those sites had ever been down and immediately. I started to think to myself man, I’m so happy that I built a list, I’m so happy that I captured name and emails because I’m never dependent on Facebook and Instagram, and these are things that I’ve been teaching for years to business owners to leverage these social Media blogs, but to build your list, the money and the powers in your list.

The fortunes in the follow up, and I think that people that aren’t building their lists. They got a a tease of what it would be like if all of a sudden, Facebook and Instagram went away didn’t matter. If you had a million followers, they weren’t good to you, but because I’ve built a list of over a half million opt-in subscribers, I could easily push a button and continue to generate profits and generate sales.

This is why you know you can leverage. You know. Trending topics and then you can put that content out there. That’s going to attract more people to you, here’s something that you always want to remember. Your perception is created all right and a lot of people don’t realize this. So, for example, you know my brand traffic. You know internet marketing, lead generation, my book, internet traffic and leads okay, that’s created! That’s something that I consciously thought about.

I said if I consistently put out information about marketing about lead generation, I can create that perception. So when people think about marketing lead generation, they say who should I go to when it comes to marketing and lead generation? Okay, I can create that and your perception is created. So whatever you want to do is step back, take like a week or two and jot down and say to yourself in a year who do I want to become okay, and you can definitely do that, which leads me to number three.

You must be consistent and play the long game. Okay, most people aren’t consistent, they put out a article, they put out a piece of content and they wonder why they generate any sales and they wonder why they’re not attracting new customers. Okay, it doesn’t work that way. The world won’t allow it to happen. You’ve got to pay your dues and you’ve got to be consistent. The good news is, it doesn’t take very long for you to pay your dues, because most people can’t stick through things very long.

So here’s some more basic tips to remember. Okay, you know who do you pay attention to now? So I want you to step back. I want you to jot down all the people you pay attention to and then underneath that I want you to write down. Why? Why do you pay attention to those individuals now? What is it that they do? Are they consistent? Are they playing the long game or they putting out content they’re doing all the things I just shared with you and then, when you ask yourself, why are you not doing that? Alright, so you want to say how can you provide more value and be more consistent than your mentors? Okay, so there are people that you’re reading right now and they’re people that you look up to and there’s a reason why you pay attention to them step back and ask yourself: what could I do differently? How could I provide more value? How can I be more consistent to those individuals so now people are looking at me versus looking at them because a lot of times we end up reading everyone instead of saying.

Well, I see what they’re doing. Why not just go ahead and mirror it, but make it better? Okay, I made a conscious decision to do that years ago and you want to make sure that you continue to do that with your business as well. Here’s the good news, 52 hours a year, can make you rich. So what do I mean by that? Okay, you would have produced one article a week, okay and you spend an hour a week. Okay, doing that it would take you one hour, which is 52 hours.

A year and if you produced a piece of content every single week for the next year, okay, it could absolutely make you rich, especially if you’re focused and you’re, targeting the right type of individuals right so you’re making articles. And you are creating your perception in your reality and you become known as the go-to person for that specific product or that specific niche market. It doesn’t take a lot.

You just have to jot it down and plan it into your day again. 52 hours a year is all that it takes and you can absolutely dominate all right. Even if that starts off with five people reading your article, you want to be running answer those five people, because here’s the cool thing about social media, which I think people forget about by you staying in front of the people that are paying attention.

They’re going to be the most engaged you’re going to be the people like you that are commenting that are showing love, which I greatly appreciate, and by them doing that. Okay, that automatically you know kind of tricks, the that starts to put it in front of other people that are searching for similar topics. So, for example, let’s say that I decide like I am to be the guy who everybody should come to when they want to learn strategies when it comes to pay-per-click advertising to get leads the lowest cost with the highest return right, and I make articles and I Consistently run ads and I stand in front of the people that have readed my article all right, because I’m staying in front of the people that already like me and they’re reading more of my content.

It starts to put my content in front of people organically who are looking for a similar topic and, as you know, if it, when it comes to business, most people need traffic, they need leads and they want to learn social media advertising. So by me, picking that niche market and by me being consistent, I’m actually attracting new people by simply paying attention to the people who are already paying attention to me and the way that I do.

That is very simple. Okay, I turn on the wheel and I simply stay in front of those individuals everywhere that they go so here you can see some of my ads on TMZ. Okay here you can see some of my ads on CNN. Okay, here you can see some of my ads on ESPN, okay, and here you can see my ads even showing up inside our individuals. Email account alright, and these are the people who are actually paying attention.

I only advertise to them and I’m able to grow my business inside and out alright. Think of your business, like a media company, alright, so look at all the media companies out there. How do you want to be what how do you want to shape your ideas and your concepts? What’s going to make you different, you want to be consistent.
