Who is helping with your digital business footprint?
So you can consistently deliver at the same quality when it comes to your work as someone who works, creating images for a living and the tools that I’m using are obviously very important. It all starts with capturing the right image, but equally important is how I treat the images in post-production.
Now, when it comes to cameras, I always try to find the right balance between obviously costs size, the speed of sort of workflow, but also something that’s going to give me the most dynamic range, the biggest color range and, if possible, to capture it in Rob because It really comes down to being able to capture as much information as you can, while you’re there on set and the cameras are rolling and, and that moment is happening life right in front of you.
Since you can rewind time, it’s really important to again capture as much information as you can right there on the set and then later on, when you’re in your editing, suite, and you now no longer worried or stressed out by the logistics such as weather. Or you know, if the actors said, I hit the right market things like that, that’s when you can sit there and really tweak the image for as long as you want in post is when you see how important it is to capture the most dynamic range, especially When you’re working with cameras like the aerial X hour or so many that are pushing 15 steps of light or the incredible extended dynamic range that you get with some of the red cameras using HDR X, it’s very important having the right tools in post-production.
So you cannot only manipulate all that data, but also so you can see it whether you’re finishing for broadcast or maybe just a YouTube article and you’re outputting in all those different formats like REC, 2020 or p3. At the end, again, you’re limited by the tools that you’re using – I myself – I couldn’t imagine these days just using any average monitor to finish and judge my work. Asus has really delivered on that end of film production.
There part PA 32. You see display has a hundred color accuracy or close to it in all of those different profiles. It’s also just a nice big 10 bit IPS display and it’s a true HDR 10, with over a billion colors, now to really be able to see and appreciate HDR properly, and you know and see all the details in the shadows or the brightest of brightest pixels. In there and the highlights, you really need a monitor that can display all of that brightness, and this monitor has an incredible 1000 nits of brightness.
It means that, even if I’m working with all the office lights on and the windows open with daylight pouring in, I can still see all of the details, anything in less than that and you’re really just working blind. You have to be able to see what you’ve captured before you can correctly adjust. All of that footage. Another obstacle in today’s film production is the huge amounts of data that we’re working with, especially if you’re shooting in RAW.
You need to be able to move terabytes of data and to do it quickly. Thunderbolt 3 is a huge improvement plus. The other benefit is that these days, it’s not just for caring data, but you can even use it as a display port. I often get asked about color accuracy and how to go about that, so that I know that I’m always seeing the most accurate colors now. Obviously, a very important part of that is how you actually calibrate your monitor these days.
Most monitors come calibrate it in the factory, and this monitor is no exception, but you’d be a fool thinking that this is enough. Every display, including even the ones on your cameras, are going to start to drift over time and the colors are just not going to look right, so you really want to get into a habit of calibrating all of your monitors. I would say every two weeks, or at least once a month: there is a lot of great calibration tools.
These days, they’re, affordable plus aces, makes it even easier to keep their displays calibrated because you can save the actual calibrated color profile right in the internal chip. That’s built into the monitor any display can be calibrated, but in most cases it means that the color profile is saved locally on your PC. Now the second you disconnect your monitor all that color calibration is gone the same if you just simply switch out your monitor connected to another article source or another PC you’re, going to have to again recalibrate it on that new machine with the Asus Pro art monitors.
Internal scaler IC chip, all that calibration data is actually saved in the monitor, which just means that you can easily switch to another PC or article or, for example, with you by accident for magic computer, and you lose all that calibration data. Your monitor still has the calibration baked into it. So, in short, always try to pick a camera. That’s going to let you capture the most dynamic range and colors, and, if possible, do it all in RAW, then make sure that you actually backup all that data, because after all, you know, whatever you have on a little memory card is worth as much as your Whole production and then, finally in post-production, make sure that you keep all of your displays properly calibrated and so that you know that you’re, seeing what you’re actually doing so that you can transform all of that raw data into the images that you want.

Today, on the show, I’ve actually got something I’ll show you. That is a bit of a collection. I know I collect a lot of things and Mason’s collect a lot of things.
I collect knives, and so I’ve got several knives from you know all over the world and different kinds, and some of them just happened to be Masonic, and so we’re going to go to a car way. Right now – and I will show you just a bit of the Masonic collection of knives that I have, some of which are also used – they are straight razors used for shaving. Those have also been explained a little bit in a Midnight Freemason post a few years ago, and I’m sure that you have readed a previous article right here on Masonic curator’s, which talks about some interesting Masonic, razors, so kind of in line with that check.
This out. All right y’all will go ahead and not worry about the mess I’ve got going on up here. This is my knife collection. What part of it anyway so I’ll just kind of open it up here. Now, it’s not a ton. It’s just some nice things that I’ve collected over times with Swiss Army knives and things, but right away. You might see a couple things in here that might speak to you. The first is this guy.
You know nothing, nothing real special! You know the United States doesn’t really make steel anymore. So almost any knife you buy today is going to be Chinese steel and American design, Chinese steel and it’s produced over there and shipped back here. So nothing real special about this, but made Mason. That says in search of more light and the other side doesn’t have anything but made in China. So just you know nothing real special, the other one that I’ve got, which is kind of cool.
The first Masonic straight-razor I ever bought after I became a Mason. I bought this one I had shaved for years with, with straight razors. That’s what my dad actually taught me how to shave with this was the first one I bought after my dad’s. I had to have my dad’s redone. So normally they look like this. You know they’re hollow ground, so they’re real thin to see how they have this scoop. That’s called being hollow ground and if you ever see it, it just looks like a big triangular thing, like that’s called a butcher wedge or a wedge or butcher blade.
They’re kind of interesting right, but you know it’s fairly nice. It’s a good shave now as much as I’ve wanted to. I have never ever used the Masonic ones to shave fairly, certain Terauchi p –. You know this kind of fake pearlescent and, of course it comes out, and you can maybe read that, let’s see I can focus, and it just says, George Washington, the first Mason president. I mean I mean that’s kind of true right: the Continental Congress, the first president of the Continental Congress, was also a Mason, so this is also just another hollow ground.
This one those Steel’s made in Pakistan, so a little bit a little nicer. I guess I promise. I won’t cut myself while making the article. This is the other one that I I bought, and I think this one I just got from one of these odd companies yeah. So this is a butcher blade. This is a butcher blade this one. You can see how much different that looks and look at that. So this is a butcher blade. It is sharp.
You should never do that. There’s microscopic teeth and now I’ll have to use a strop to straighten that out, but nonetheless, pretty cool still has oil on it. I’ve never really used it, but I just thought it was kind of cool. I saw it in one of those like knife, catalogs and the imagery is kind of cool in there. So yeah that’s about it. This one was made in Pakistan. It’s the only butcher blade I’ve ever owned.
I think they’re generally they’re hard to find if you guys ever find yourself a razor and you find a butcher blade, that’s in good shape. You should maybe buy it if it’s reasonable. Almost everything that you find that’s antique. This one here looks like it’s got. Maybe some odd fellow markings on it FLT not really sure what that’s for, but so look it’s a big ol chunk taken out of that bad boy and most of them look like that.
So not something you’re going to want to Hugh’s collect sure, but don’t use it. I got this one for my father-in-law, who actually gave me my first real Masonic ring. But last but not least, I guess I’ll show you this one, which I’m pretty proud of. It’s the only one it actually was given to me. I didn’t buy it, it’s really nice and it was actually given to a lot of different guys who were in attendance of the Grand Master’s dinner a few years ago, but nothing special, just probably made by case or another company like it.

First and foremost, this is an update of the original campaign article that I created. So let me actually go to Dropbox, really quick. So if we look here so far, we have about 182 dollars spent, so we’re right on track to about that ten dollars per day spinning.
So this is roughly about twenty four-hours-a-day a day right and I personally don’t make any data-driven decisions until about three to four days once we actually have enough data, so we don’t have an updated yet, but I want to go ahead and actually just kind of step On the laptop here and kind of give you guys an update to show you guys within 24 hours, like what what type of data you’re going to start getting an update of of what I thought was going to happen happen compared to what did happen.
So first thing that I do want to go to an address is, in the last article we had the the affiliate marketing audience right, so affiliate marketing, affiliate marketing, affiliate marketing in the last article that was actually performing the worst that was performing the worst day. It had no actions performed no results, however, right, that’s the importance of not making any decision too early, because I personally thought it was going to do the best right, but and what and what I mean by for let’s go and actually look at the ad set.
Really quick, so if I open up the ad set or go to edit today of marketing, if we look here, the audience is simply affiliate marketing. Is that simple right so right now what we’re doing is we have a sandbox campaign and we have 18 different variations. That we’re trying to see we’re trying to find winning angles, which is basically ad copy and headline we’re trying to find winning creatives, which is a winning image or try to find winning audiences right.
So in the beginning, the audience’s were showing that affiliate marketing wasn’t converting, but if we take a look here and we go to cost per results, when we go to the top here, the top performing one right guys remember these. These had no actions, but the first time I shot the campaign overview campaign or article, but that being said since that article, the top performing audiences for the marketing, so with that being said, you have to give it time right.
You have to give Facebook enough time if you notice here it says active learning, active learning right so once the active learning is off right. It’s not it’s not learning any more, but it’s always learning. But with that being said, I want to go ahead and actually see which image is performing the best right. So I don’t know if you guys remember the three images are actually so, let’s go to I’m going to go to affiliate, affiliates, affiliate, marketing, affiliate, affiliate marketing and then affiliates affiliate marketing.
I just want to show you guys the three images right, but this should tell you guys something right: one of the images is performing out of dollar twenty seven one of the images is performing at 344. One of the images is performing at $ 10 right. So let’s go ahead and actually take a look, so the image that is performing the best so far me sitting in a pool right on my phone um luxury pool. I believe that was in the W in Miami right.
The one performing at on three dollars right is: I could have guessed this one. This is funny this is funny now I could have told you. Actually, I wouldn’t know whether the Tiger the tiger one or the one me sitting in the pool would do better, but I definitely thought that they would convert better than me with a group of people right with morale job, so the audience so far right, we haven’t, Gave it enough time, but the audience looks like this could be a winning audience, but sometimes you think your audience isn’t working, but it’s really not the audience.
Why? Sometimes you have a winning audience. For example, I should say this was a winning audience, but I had this picture right here and I was getting $ 10 $ 10 per result, which is what I’m getting right now. I like all this audience sucks. No, it doesn’t you suck right, you need them. You need to create enough variations, so the reason why you want to do different audiences, different creatives, different different angles, and you want to do it like.
So, let’s look at the actual campaign structure. What I did two angles right, so two different sets of ad copy. Next and let me actually go to the ad comics – I don’t even know what ad copy this is. I believe this is the affiliate marketing ad copy. It is the affiliate marketing ad copy. So if I go to the affiliate marketing ad copy, obviously right dear struggling affiliate marketers and I’m targeting the audience of affiliate marketing, so they like affiliate marketing, I’m targeting affiliate marketers and then now I have a creative and out of these creatives.
So we know that the angle right – we don’t know this yet, but based off of the numbers right, I don’t have an update attack to make data-driven decisions, move a sophomore or looking at right now. We know that the angle, which is the ad copy, as well as the image we know that there are not the images, the angle and the audience is probably a winning angle in audience. So eventually, what I’m going to do is split sense: that ad copy and split test that ad copy in that audience and I’m going to go to split just a whole bunch of images and see if I can get a winner out of that and out of That, if I can go ahead and actually beat this image with other images that I have right, some pretty dope images, then I’m going to go ahead and actually move it to another campaign of my winner.
So this this campaign right here is basically like split testing campaign. I guess you could say now another one right is over here right, another one that seems to be catching a little bit of traction is the overworked campaign. Now, let’s actually see what images right now, the two different audiences one is Tim Ferriss right. So that’s actually edited to show you guys the audience. So the audience is Tim Ferriss and the audience here is Russell Brunson right.
So two internet marketers. So with that being said, I’m going to laugh if they’re the same image right, but let’s go ahead and actually see. I knew it so guys we have found I’m not going to jump the gun of guys, but I believe we found a winning image right cuz. Let’s take a look at this guy’s right. Look at this look at how awesome this is data-driven decisions, so the top three converting ads. This isn’t a fluke guys.
This is just this is this is what the public says is what they want. So if we look at a fitness, we look at all of these three. So look: there’s two different marketing angles: two different marketing angles right: two different marketing angles: three different ad sets. If we go to the ad creative, we have a winning creative right. This one is outperforming every other creative so that guys, that is data-driven the sitter’s.
So what I’m going to do is I’m going to go ahead and use this image? I’m going to continue to use this image, but I don’t want to jump the gun yet right. Um but guys one thing that I want to go to show you guys is 182 dollars spent. I only got 25 leads right now. If we were to spin, if I was to get a dollar 27, let’s just say, let’s just round that, let’s just say I was to get a dollar 50 per lead right, that same hundred and eighty dollar ad spin would amount to a hundred and twenty leads.
That’s almost 5x the amount of results right. So what happens is guys. The whole objective in the beginning is not to make. I know that sounds crazy, but it’s not to make money. It’s to get data is to find winners. It’s to find the ads that are actually working and then what I’m going to do is I’m going to reallocate that spend to the winners, so files are reallocate that spin right right now. This campaign is not a profitable campaign, meaning if I’m getting leads on average.
For seven dollars and twenty-nine cents, I’m getting 25 leaves with one hundred and eighty dollars spent. That’s me losing money, but me split-testing has allowed me to find a winning image so far, right so far and a winning um angle right a winning angles. So what I can do is I can go ahead and actually split test that angle with that image and try to actually beat the actual angle and audience right.
That’s how I can that’s one way that I can optimize that and try to improve, but with that being said, what I’m going to do now is eventually, after a couple of days, I’m still going to go ahead and give a time right, but after I give It a little bit of time. What I’m going to do is I’m going to be able to actually re allocate some of that money and if I was getting instead of seven dollars on average per lead, if I was getting leads at a dollar, thirty ton dollar.
Fifty even below two dollars leaves below two dollars. That is a profitable marketing campaign for me, so I’m going to go in a scale at that level, I got ta find the winners first right, so I just wanted to do a quick, 24-hour update just to show you guys right what we’re looking for now. We’re not looking for guys as these I’m not even looking at the backend stuff. Yet I’m not looking at I’m not looking at the backend stuff.
Yet right. First, we’re going to go to look at the front-end numbers and then an additional things that you guys can look at from the very very beginning could be like the cost per click you guys can be looking at the UM, the click-through rate. So one thing you guys will notice if I go to the top-performing Li or the top performing ads here right, the top performing ads the click-through rate is one point one six three point eight and two point five: three right.
I would assume that these top three probably have some of the highest click-through rates because of this image click, the rate click the rate. Now I want to go to actually so these two right here. These two ads have pretty high click-through rate, so I want to go to and actually look at the image. So guys is that high, the higher your click-through rate? That means it may be a pretty good, pretty good image if you notice here five point: seven four percent click-through rate – and it has seven link – clicks now – there’s some sort of disconnect here, because this one’s getting a low cost per click, this one’s getting a high Click-Through rate, but the question is: why isn’t it converting I’m getting cost believes out for four dollars, so I’m going to go and actually look at that so affiliates and Russell so the target one guys.
That’s why it’s getting a high click through a just me. Petting a freaking tiger right, so this one is getting the highest click-through rate. That’s why I’m not going to go ahead and actually jump the gun to say the other one is the winner yet because over time this may actually change. So we have to give it enough time right and give Facebook enough data right. I like to be personally, I don’t like to make a decision, unless I at least have about a thousand impressions right, which is one CP, one CPM right cost per thousand impressions.
So with that being said, um yeah, that’s basically the article I just wanted to show you guys some of the analytics that you guys should be looking at. Obviously your cost per action, whatever you’re trying to accomplish did you guys go look at other things, I’m going to kind of give you guys. Some extra data, like the click-through rate, shows me. Okay, the Tiger the tiger ad may be a good image, but because it’s getting a high click-through rate, I just might have to write a different angle to that audience.
So this may be you what I mean right, that’s why you want to get all the analytics. The click the break shows me it’s a good image, but there’s this that there’s some sort of disconnect there right to where it’s not performing as high as the other ones. So one different angle that I could switch up is: I can go to actually in the actual ad talk about being in Thailand, petting Tigers and being able to travel the world and going from corporate slavery to traveling the world, because I have a laptop business or Work from home business that allows me actually travel work for my laptop work from anywhere.
That allows me to get experiences like paper tiger, so on and so forth. So if you guys want a – and I can appeal to people who want to actually travel and an audience that will probably work well with, that would probably be like the 4-hour workweek and I can go ahead and say so. If you want to go ahead and learn how to live, laptop lifestyle click down look boom and then it may be a little bit more congruent.
So I actually want to look at two more things right, so this is actually you never mind. So if you notice the one with the high click-through rates, this is talking about struggling with idiots, so petting a tiger and talking about struggling affiliates that may there may be a disconnect there right. So maybe I have to switch up the angle with this different net, but with that being said guys, we have two to three more days to actually wait.
Look at the data, I’m okay with losing this money, because I’m getting really good data, I’m getting I’m at because guys understand, sometimes you’re going to go ahead and actually put up three you’re going to put up all these variations and you’re not going to go and Get anything zilch is zero. I mean you’re not going to get a winning image, you’re not going to get a winning angle. I just so happen to potentially have a winning image and a winning angle.
So I’m super excited about that, so an a winning audience. So that being said, um the more variations you you create and the faster you spend depending on what your budget is, the faster you’re going to acquire data, the fashion you’re going to be able to make moves right. So the bigger your resources, the faster you’ll, be able to make moves. But with that being said, that’s basically all I got for you, that’s how you make data-driven decisions.
That’s how you look at your analytics. That’s a campaign. That’s been up for about 24 hours and we do have some pretty data and some pretty good insight on this campaign. Now it’s just time to wait a couple more days to look at the data and make data-driven decisions. So that’s pretty awesome. It looks like last year their prices were forty, nine. Ninety five, so they have decrease the price which is kind of nice. As for scale, I have a seven by nine Erin Condren planner that I use on the regular it’s a little bit bigger or like my Erin Condren is a little bit bigger. I should say so: I have my cover. You can see the difference like you know, they’re and contouring is a little bit different there.
So the pages are just a little bit more narrow, but it’s the same same height. So, no it’s nine inches by probably six six and a half something like that, so very comparable to the you know: Erin Condren size. So anyway, when they reached out, they showed me their designs for 2019. So I picked this design and this design is called the chambray stripe so um I will show you guys mmm it’s going to be hard to see hold on.
Let’s see if I can like see it properly here we go Wow. Actually, let me put this down and then all sue me all in. I always gets funky when I try to show my screen so anyway. This is the chambray stripe. The aqua herringbone marble stripe painted floral rose gold, so the coil is rose gold and then the painted floral and the silver. So I know these have been like you know. I think these ones were last year too, or something similar to that.
So it might be like one or more of their signature looks, but I thought the chambray stripe looked kind of nice. So I figured why not go with that one and it’s kind of like more of a like a dark, denim color and it looks like it’s black like the stripes look like they’re black, they might be like a super dark indigo, I’m not sure so anyway. This comes with a silver coil, it has like a teal 2019 on it, and then it has the corners which I love.
Oh it’s kind of off camera. Sorry, it has the hard corners which I love. It has the bound in cover. So you know nice and sturdy, then you open it up ooh. This is nice, it has a little pocket, so you can put stickers or you know. If you put your bills in there, you have postcards or something like that or invitations or whatever you can put that in there all right and then whoa all right. So we’ve got a plastic pouch, it’s not movable, however, you could kind of slice it.
If you wanted to and move it around, it’s kind of up to you so and then inside of here it’s like a little sealed pocket here. Okay, it’s just the one sticker of icons, all right, I’m not going to take it out just because just one sticker! So but yeah, it’s all the Ashley Shelley colors, which is kind of nice. So it’s just got some different things on there. So yeah kind of cool all right. Let’s turn the page and then it says this planner it belongs to, and then it has the Ashley Shelley stuff and that’s from January 2019.
Third December of 2019 and it’s got a little perforated edges, I want to say they had those last year. Maybe I can’t remember, but I think they had those last year anyway. So then there’s some information from Ashley Shelley and she just gives you some planner tips, which is kind of awesome and then on this side is kind of just a nice blank page for an inspiration board, which I kind of like, because you know me, I don’t.
I mean I like structure. I just don’t like a lot of structure, so that’s kind of nice, you could, you know, like it says, write, draw and tape all of the inspiration here for your year ahead. It’s so true! So if you’ve got, you know, goals and the goal setting things like that, put it in there or use it for something totally different. So next page there is important contacts with some lines: favorite meal ideas, breakfast dinners and lunches.
I like that, that’s kind of nice. You know or things that were like a hit at your house or something like that all right next page, these are kind of reminiscent of the Erin Condren boxes, but this is a little bit more structure just because it has the months on there. So it’s a 2019 planning overview and I kind of like this – it’s kind of nice. I know a lot of people use like in the Erin Condren ones.
They have these boxes in the of the planner too, before you get into the months and a lot of people use them for basically the same thing like a monthly overview, but this would be easily enough covered up with a sticker or some washi or even just Like whiteout tape, if you wanted to use it for something else, you could just use all of these boxes for something else too. So yeah it’s still versatile with still giving you some structure if that makes sense, so the yearly overview you’ve got 2019 also 2020, which is nice.
I love to have a 2020 or like the next full calendar year in that planner. If that makes sense, because sometimes you’re scheduling, vacations or you’re kind of like grand scheme, looking at things of like okay, that one week there’s this conference in Orlando and we want to go – and it’s always the second week in September or whatever so you’re kind of, Like planning things and just kind of like general forecasting for the next year, so I always really like that.
Now it has all the 2019 holidays will not all of them, but some of them. So we’ve got that and then we get into January all right. So all the paper has been the same, except for the ones that have the tabs are very thick like, like a nice, thick cardstock. Alright. So here is the January 2019 layout. It’s actually really nice. So they’re not perfect boxes, they’re more like rectangles, and they have little lines on them they are.
Are they dotted? They kind of look like they’re like dotted a little bit very reminiscent of just like lined paper from a notebook, it’s kind of what it looks like. So it’s very faint, but if you do want to write like say you want to like write a list of something you could definitely kind of use that as a guideline which is nice. Also, I’m loving that it has last month’s monthly view, as well as the next month’s monthly view on here as well.
That’s really nice! Again with that forecasting or paydays or like whatever you’re looking forward to it’s like okay, yeah, okay, then yeah the 15th will work. But you know I’m out of town on the 22nd or you know like you, can just kind of like talk about that stuff and like see it visually. That really helps me on the left-hand side. Also, there are notes, and then there are some of those holidays that are put up at the very, very top in a very faint purple, writing as well and then into the months.
So here’s the first page in January, it says, create the life you love in January and that’s just it looks kind of more like a vision, board kind of a thing. I know that they do this. What did I just review? An inkwell press planner? I did like a first impressions on as well, so it’s different, but it’s kind of the similar idea. So like goal setting things that you could change for next month, you know all that kind of stuff, and it looks like I mean I’m just kind of reading over some of these.
It looks like these could be modifiable a little bit too or you don’t necessarily have to use this page to if it’s just like not your jam kind of cool, something different and then okay. So this is a notes page, but it’s two columns and then here’s a notes, page that is just all aligned and then we get into this alright. So we’ve got a daily planner, but it’s you know a week on two pages, so the very top.
We have a note section, your monthly word, which I believe you can put in right over here. So your your word of the month and then then it has all these like little colons. So you can put like what you’re doing at specific times to say you work at 7:00 a.M. You can just put 7:00 a.M. Work or you can put 7:00 a.M. To 3:00 p.M. Work. If you really want to do that and it’s got a bunch of lines and then a to-do list and then it says, do today and then dinner, so that’s kind of nice and then over to the right-hand side.
There are listed holidays so like the 31st is New Year’s Eve and the first is New Year’s Day and then all of them are exactly the same as the others, but let’s get into looking at some more all right here. So here is the next page and yeah everything looks exactly the same if you guys readed my what was it my ankle press planner, like my mock, horizontal, which this is actually kind of a horizontal orientation, but I could get more on board with this one, just Because it’s more of a list of times and other lines, so you really wouldn’t necessarily have to use this four times.
If you didn’t want to, you could write very easily shopping or whatever and then like put where you’re going or if there’s specific things you have to do, there’s also a to-do list. So I like that. It’s like a column kind of because my brain works in this way and it doesn’t work in this way. But I did that Mach plan with me and even my mom was laughing at me because she’s like oh Emily, that was so horrible.
I’m, like I know, she’s like, but it was really funny. I’m like well thanks, um I’ll link that up in a card, if you guys want to read me struggle doing a horizontal, but this I think you could, if you were a horizontal person or if you were a vertical person, I feel like this could work for You with this layout cuz, it is, you know, column E and that’s not even a word. What am I talking about anyway, but yeah? So this is the month and then we are now in two of February and so all the months are going to look the same, but let’s go in the back because sometimes there’s other accoutrements in the back.
You just you never know. So let’s take a peek and see okay, so we’re at an hour and alright. So now we’re into the last page of the month, which is December 30th through January 5. Alright and then we’ve got some notes: pages tada, alright, so we have little notes pages with. You know hearts on them. So let’s say one: two, three, four oops: five, six, eight, nine ten! Alright, so you get ten notes pages that are just there for you, which is kind of Awesome and then on the back.
It just has more information about Ashley Shelley and then in the back over here it’s got still the same hard like the hard board. It’s not cardboard, but it’s you know like a solid permanent cover. I can’t talk today. You guys I just like worked all day and got my oil changed just like. I can’t adult and human right now. No, but yeah. It’s like a really really nice, very, very sturdy. It’s like a nice gloss on it too, so I feel like if you spilled something even you wiped it up super super quick.
It would be alright, I mean clearly if you left something it probably wouldn’t be. The best but yeah it’s very smooth like very smooth feeling, and it’s like kind of glassy. I don’t know if you guys can see that, but it is kind of glassy and then this is what the back looks. Like still has the reinforced corners. Sorry, I’m not in the frame whoops and then has the Ashley Shelley logo on the back as well so yeah that is a sneaky sneaky little peek inside of the Ashley Shelley 2019 planner.

So starting off strong visual images are all about sticking out getting as much as attention as possible. In your environment, and you have to understand your environment to truly be able to do that I’ll go over that later, though, Calle West number one is being out of place when Kanye West first started hip hop was heavily a street where look right being educated.
As far as the look the preppy look College, look that Kanye West was known for the time was nowhere in sight. Kanye West was the first one. He popularized that and had the backpack. He created the backpack rapper, even the content. He was talking about that made him seem out of place. He was this different guy and then we look at him not that it was their choice to be born white, but the fact they were born white and they’re rappers, particularly in their side of rap, and brought them a lot of attention just because they were the Only white people at their time on that level, so it just made people look at it right in wonder.
Okay, who is that they easily were branded as that white person that you have two against the grain in the Western civilization, particularly with entertainers. You have women that are wearing less clothes, typically Janelle Moll day. She went the opposite direction by not only dressing down in sense of covering her body, but also having on a pence which is a little bit more of a masculine energy.
Typically, as far as what we associate a pen, so we associated with basis and power and all that kind of stuff, so brought her more attention when she did that in the first place. But then she combined it with what Jenna does also is, which is being out of time being at a time in the sense of using an old energy and oh look and also feeling your music often times which separates you from the current day.
People and they modernize it obviously, but they also really really strongly draw from and push the image of being old school like old, old school, not 90s, but you know back in the day. Y’All know talk about anyway, play up your character, so all these people have characters innocence and they play those up. But these people play into the extreme Lady Gaga Lady Gaga, particularly that one year when she was doing things like this meat, outfit and Eminem like you down here in the right like this woman is crazy.
She was really really really going to the extreme and getting maximum attention. If you remember that year, she like you, cannot turn on TV and not to hear about her or anything at least music related and then Nicki Minaj when she first came out well after a while, she came out, but she got to a certain point where she Was like, I want to get maximum attention and I want to be in the pop world and have so many people, not my name.
She started wearing these colorful outfits all this stuff, and just these bizarre things similar to Lady Gaga just to get attention and then Katy Perry did a very much so similar thing, except she did the characters and outfits kind of like Lady Gaga did, but then she Also did the colorful things with the blue wig as a theme during her California, love album and all that kind of stuff like she did very much so a similar thing, I’m sure you can recognize the similarities.
Little yachty. I did a article talking all about how he did this I’ll go check it out. You haven’t seen it, but he I go a lot deeper and number five is props right. Using props, Rory’s hat right here is a prop the way you know this is because he one has it on consistently and then he has it on. Even when he’s wearing this Jersey, this Jersey, is it necessarily a look that goes with that kind of hat typically, but he is so aware that this is his brand.
This is what make him makes him stick out, that he keeps it on no matter where he is because that creates his silhouette literally and he put a silhouette around him, but he doesn’t wear it as much this time. You would recognize Rory silhouette by itself. Regular hats, like the one kid cudi hairs on the bottom left, quit necessarily make you stick out, but the fact that this hat is something that people typically don’t typically don’t wear, at least on his side of music.
In the same way, the Hat the future wears is branded him as a strong visual. Those kind of things help out, and then you have a mean a with the bananas. I don’t learn rules to abide by them. I learned them to know when I’m breaking them, so this alludes to that sticking out thing. I said at the very beginning: you have to understand the rules of your environment to truly be able to take advantage of the rules and then break the rules to your advantage. So you get maximum attention. You have to really understand what people other people are doing to really stick out.
If you want to use a strong visual branch, so study the game and study what you see around you and that’ll help you get it done other than that. You know what to do subscribe have a great one.
Basically you can do one cent and that’s what I do just to keep a campaign running. I don’t have any really active goals or anything like that that I’m trying to do with AdWords, but they only allow you to use the keyword planner if you have an AdWords campaign that is active.
So that’s how I get around that. I just um start a small campaign for something on your site and you know just make it the lowest amount, if you don’t actually have any intent into using AdWords, so just make it like the lowest amount that you can set it at. Just to be able to use the Google Keyword planner tool, so here you are inside the tool and this actually used to it. They’ve improved it in some ways and in some ways it’s gotten a little bit worse.
The ways that it’s gotten a little bit worse is that they don’t give you exact, search numbers anymore. They used to give you like you know. Let’s say it was like 550 in five hundred and fifty three search results every month right now. They would give you something like oh you’re, getting one hundred to a thousand search results every month, so it’s not giving you as exact data. However, it does give you still an idea of a turn and it’s worth going after or a turn.
It’s not worth going after so and because it is straight from Google, I like to use the Google Keyword planner over other tools like SEM rush or AAA traps, because those two tools are known for giving different types of data. Although for me, I’m like, if you know Google’s the main search engine that I’m concerned with, I want to just get my search data from Google directly. So that’s how I feel about it now.
The way that that Google Keyword planner has actually gotten better is they have made these two buttons better in their results. So if you don’t know, if you’re looking for more keyword, ideas – and you want to add that to your list, I would use this button right here. If you already have a list of terms that you want to get the search volume for, I would use this button right here in the second button.
So since we we have a slight list of terms here, let’s get more, let’s, let’s act as if we want to get more keyword ideas, so, let’s type those in just copy paste, those in right there. You can also add a landing page to your website. If you already have some content up, that’s cool – or you can put in a competitor here too, so that you can get some ideas of what their keywords would be. I’m going to skip that for now.
So, let’s just type in our ideas get ideas. Now, Google Keyword planner can be a little finicky. Sometimes you’ll see things like this quite often. What I do is I’ll just go up here and I’ll refresh it again. If I still get it I’ll just kind of play back and forth between these two buttons until it works, I know that sounds really weird, but it does seem to work that way. I really don’t know why it does that.
Maybe it’s a cafe thing and either way in either case just play back and forth between these two buttons and getting ideas so between these three just play that with it and it’ll work, eventually, okay, so yeah here we can add more keyword, ideas to our list. So let’s go ahead and I like to just add these by groups for some reason this isn’t adding things here, but let’s just keep adding more sometimes like I said, sometimes it’s a little finicky and now you guys see that you know the email list group did Not add so we may have to go back and do another search for that to add it later key learning, so anything that is related.
That is closely related to the topic that we’re going to be touching on. That’s what we want to save and if you wanted to, if you wanted to save all this time – and you want to just make it really quick you could at all. But unless you are a local business, I don’t recommend doing that. If you are a local business, then I would recommend searching by your state or by your city. So that way, you are knowing exactly how many people are searching for you within your local area and that’s going to give you a much better idea than to target it nationally. This is not a gaming blog today I’ll be showing you how I made the sound for the intro animation. Just so remember, okay, I do understand replay for you yeah. So now, let’s get back in time, so I can show you how I made this: let’s go alright, so I’m back from the future. Now, here’s an order 5 session and I’ve got imported the article using the session open article, and then I selected the article.
Now it is transcoded, so I don’t have to transcode it. If I selected, you see you get these options, import, transcode article. This is what you do when you first import your article to order and reference from current location previously transcoded. This is very easy, like self explainatory. So now it’s just going to reload the article because it was already there – and it looks like this when you’re doing sound design for animation.
To me, the key thing is to get the timing and to get the atmosphere, so I’m trying to figure out what sounds. Would fit this image? This move motion picture kinda, so there’s a lot of darkness. There’s some smoke, there’s some glittering lights or some noise happening in some bright flash at the end. There’s there’s a quick motion when the camera like zooms out or the or the letters fall in and then there’s lights, so this could be some tinkling tinkling and then it gets noisy, distorted and finally, there kind explodes.
So I can see some some clues to what the sound design might be. So what I’m going to do is actually add a bunch of units of effects instances. So I can just start synthesizing some sounds that will fit this and Xin is a pretty heavy plugin. So it takes a while to load into our door yeah we’re ready, I’m going to also use my external keyboard because it’s going to make the things easier. So, let’s see we have the first one, that’s already routed.
Some reason order was very smart and it already connected the MIDI ports, which is nice okay. So what what we have here, I imagine a swoosh like I could record this with a microphone, but first it would be very, very easy and I wouldn’t show anything interesting in the process and second, it would be difficult to make this really work because mouth sounds Are very organic and what we see here is very technic.
Very synthetic could of course, process the recorded sounds, but I’m going to try to stick to synthesis as much as I can like. I don’t have a strict plan of what I’m going to do, so this is kind of an exploration for me as it is for you. I have some tools. I have some experience of making this for clients, it’s good, that this is not for a client. So I can show you the process, because I wouldn’t do this with it this whip, if it works for a client, I want to make it swish.
So I’m going to going to record this, I’m going to press shift space which will activate there a record mode because the truck is armed and then it’s going to record them in notes. It doesn’t really the pitches, because I’m going to override this anyway, I’m going to press e to enter edit mode. So I can change the length of the notes. Now G go to the grab mode where I can edit the, and this is like yeah it.
The note is there, but it doesn’t draw it, there’s some stuff to report in the order, their tracker, let’s make this and noisy swoosh, I’m not sure how easy it’s going to be to fit everything on one screen, because I usually use two but well never know What do we have here? We have ad synth. Let’s try Adsense I’m going to go for white noise. We can use a keyboard to help us out. This is very, very bright.
It’s a little bit painful! I’m going to make this quieter and I’m going to want to make this yeah. This is the kind of tempo I think will fit this now. This is too short because the note is higher. I’m going to lower the note. I know it’s too long come on now, it’s a little bit short, but I’m going to change that with the with the envelope. Okay, let’s try it again. This could work. We can also later shape the fade out a bit with the automation, so it doesn’t have to be perfect from the start, because sometimes you know trying to get something perfect will block you for half an hour.
Doing just that. I want to make some motion with filters, so I’m trying to experiment with with the band pass and maybe make it a little bit sharper and start higher yeah. This is funny it’s a little bit too short kind of kind of sinking. I want to duplicate this voice, so I’m going to copy the clipboard switch to another one and paste it. So I can use a different filter or different settings for the filter, so I’m going to start off with a lower and make this higher and make this a little bit longer.
So we will have like, let’s, let’s here, second voice alone, I wan na make it a little bit sharper more resonance, yeah and the first one. The first one could be wider, yeah solely together form kind of a it’s it’s. There is brown noise and there is narrow noise, narrow, narrow narrow. So we have like complementary it’s. It has two characters at the same time, it has noisy character and has this more narrow we still like sound to it, which is very subtle? Actually it’s much more noisy than Swiss Li, but okay, let’s mmm, maybe try letting in some of the highs, because the low pass filter is by default kind of close from the top.
It doesn’t do any change an edible change in our mmm and this regular sound. Let’s see what we can do with effects here and I think some reverb could be good, but I’m going to not I’m not going to use as an internal reverb and I’m going to use a plugin for that, because I really like the sound of em a Verb so I’m going to leave this sound right now. Let’s call this. I need to disable the record disarmed for recording and then I can change the name.
Let’s call it swoosh and now, let’s insert some verb yeah, let’s hear it yeah. This actually could really work. I’m going to put it pre fader because actually doesn’t really matter for this kind of effect. It wouldn’t matter for a compressor or a distortion where the input level plays a big role in at what tone you get out of the processing, but for reverb it doesn’t really matter, but I prefer to have all plugins pre fader.
I want to try adding some. Maybe the chorus, maybe the cough multi chorus, let’s see and make a loop, so we can tweak the settings and hear what how they change the sound immediately. Can I disable the LFO completely? I think it the plugin isn’t made for like using this manually, but I could get away with some of the automation, let’s see and it’s modulation that let’s make it play so to play our automation, it kind of gives a little bit, I’m afraid it’s going to Drift a little bit because we still have some modulation, so we’re going to get different effects based on different time.
When we play this, we could bounce this to a track to a stereo audio track. Let’s insert just one right now for the input I’m not going to use this. The system hardware stuff would use this whoosh output. I’m going to record this I’m going to hit shift space. Let’s do one more yay. We have them swooshes. Now it’s mute. This original MIDI track control, app arrow, will shift the track up and this going to be our double click, swoosh kind of a misnomer, but anyway, okay, now we have the same effect just frozen in time.
So nothing changes, I’m going to mute, I mean muted. The second instance that I recorded, because I don’t really want to use it right now, so maybe yeah, maybe I’ll, do something with it later. Okay, let’s go over the next sound. Let’s do something for these bright, blue lights that appear on the edges. I want to do something electric, however, I’m not sure really what to do with it. So I will just experiment right now and we’ll see what happens.
The best sounds. I’ve ever made were just created out of experimenting, so good stuff might happen right now. Maybe I’ll try using a waveform like a square way, because I want something that will sound similar to a Maine’s hum this 50 or 60, depending on a burden you live, but that comes out of your power supply, yeah kind of this sick, oh yeah. However, the filter is affected by the velocity of the key hitting.
So if I hit it very slightly, we get a different tone. I don’t want that. I want this velocity sensing him out. Okay, now the the velocity of the key only affects is a loudness of the sound I want to do. I know what I want to do. I want to do some messed up ring modulation this, but I want to use external modulator, so I’m going to copy this voice over to be voice. Free yeah pace it here, because currently Zen some effects can can modulate different voices with different voices.
I made the first ever article of UV, UV 0-1, modulation, zenus of effects. Modulation. Madness goes a little bit more in depth about this. So if you’re, if you’re new to this concept, go there and check it out, but the thing is I can use the previous voices on the list like if you have the list like free voice, free can be modulated by voice 2 or voice one voice. To can image the way the by can be modulated by voice one voice 8.
Can we merge it about 7 6? Both err all everything above it because they are being calculated in order, so the first is completely voice 1 to free. When the voice 1 is calculated, it knows nothing about the rest of the voices, so it can’t use that for modulation, and this can be worked around, but it’s an overhaul and well it’s not going to happen soon. So now I’m going to make it first voices that are not going to be used.
Yeah, I’m the first two voices, the first two voices are now mute, so we only hear the third voice can see. We have a sign here if we turn it up now. The interesting part is our square wave has a fixed pitch. It doesn’t respond. It’s something that lowers the amount of modulation when you go with higher pitches. Higher frequencies give much more modulation which gets very noisy and bad, but we might want that so I’m turning it up. Turning it yeah turning it up, so I’m disabling the feature, and I hear the low-pass filter really messing up with our sound, so I’m going to turn it up and unless you’re reading 270 P on youtube, you probably can hear a difference right now and how about We make a pitch slide of the modulator longer, not so high starting yeah 64 is the middle, so 64 is no change below it’s going to go higher and start lower and pitching them go up.
How about we just shifted a few octaves up, make it an investment, wah wah how about inverting this? This is very long really like. This is a very short animation and what happens if we add a few voices to our modulator sorry, our carrier get a stereo. I think I want to do something with this sound, so it’s going to be more interesting and I might try modulating it again what the voice one so I’m going to go all the way up.
No velocity sensing, no high frequency damping – and it just happened so that we left a square wave very low pitch square wave, also doesn’t responding to the key number. How about we make this fade in so in the beginning, the voice, one is silent, so it doesn’t modulate the voice too. Actually I can’t hear any difference. Okay, how are we detune this slightly? So it’s going to be a little bit yeah.
I won’t try and enable a band pass filter on this, just experiment, so our voice, one, is a square wave. It’s going to be band fast, its modulating with ring modulation, the voice two, which is a sine wave, slightly falling from the sky. I like going up and then falling down in pitch, which is then ring modulating our square wave that is somewhere in the base. We used register and if I make this narrower and atom filter envelope funny we heard some harmonic and maybe it was the fundamental.
Well. That’s a little bit scary, I’m going to make this a little bit wider, so it’s not so intense when it hits the harmonic content and how about we make this higher or lower. There’s some kickass sounds in here. Okay, let’s make the envelopes little shorter for everyone. I want to add an arch filler here just to see what happens when I play a lower note, it sounds it sounds interesting. I like a notes notes of e.
Make interesting sounds, I guess, that’s probably caused by a certain frequency relation frequency ratio, relationship between the fixed tone and the notes. Okay, I’m going to record the e note hmm, so this is going to be our buzz okay. It doesn’t very closely follow our animation right now. I’ve just noticed our swoosh is very, very silent, very quiet like it. You can see it on the waveform, but it’s just right now.
I realized how quiet it is. I’m going to add presser keep the input not up yeah. I want this note to end ride when this flash goes off, so I’m going to hit II to edit, then I’m going to just drag the notes and notes and left okay, let’s replay home, we get this little slight bleep at the end, which is very nice. Let’s hear what it does right now might be: shitty doesn’t okay, because we have said manual. I have to change to play now: it’s going to actually read the automation. Alright, so like we have when we have no ring modulation, we actually have louder sound because our square wave is unaffected because ring modulation actually changes the volume of the waveform, the amplitude. In time, but it does it so quickly that it alters the pitches.
If you do ring modulation very slowly, you get a tremolo effect, okay, but we also need to change the volume. I guess, or maybe I know what, because we can automate the filter cutoff and this is going to affect only the main, the global filter in an ad synth look like if we automate the pic filter cutoff, it’s going to only change this one. So I could like changes in the middle move it here, because the filter cutoff starts in the middle, so we can like shift it up and shoot it down.
I’m going to start with it change it to play, so it does play the automation and begin with the filler domain of the filter, cutoff all the way up and somewhere else, maybe down, and maybe I will just kind of mimic the what we did here very Very slightly, and I’m going to make me make this a little bit go up till the end, so it kinda gain strength to blow up in the end. Let’s see what it does yeah.
This is better. This is more what it more mmm. It fits the animation more. I don’t like this part where it doesn’t do anything and it’s really steady and boring. I think it should better just cut off there, so I’m going to change the note, so it ends here and then instant. Another note – and it doesn’t end right in right, where it should right now and maybe I’ll change the automation, so it starts with the cutoff fully closed, so our low-pass filter will just be opening right after the note started yeah.
I think if we add some distortion on top of that, it’s going to make a cool effect. Maybe I will split this into two separate tracks. It might be easier that way. I also think that it might do some good if I change the hats and global filter type to maybe not the type but make it a little bit sharper with resonance now. That sounds very old-school, and it doesn’t really mean it not necessary cool yeah.
I think we can hear more of the ring modulation and I think we hear a little too little of it, so I want to actually and give this higher values over also get more of the distorted, sound and just a clean one. Maybe this automation clip is a little bit too cluttered. I’m going to press G select a bunch of points and move them up. Yeah, like this kind of dies very quickly, and we don’t really else aria-pressed something F shift, Z, F, maximizes, a track or tries to maximize it in the VG visible space right now.
It fits also the automation tracks. Shift Z is like control Z for view. So if you just zoom somewhere else, when you can’t find yourself, you should press shift Z and it should zoom you out one step at a time, unfortunately, or fortunately depends and press e make this not a little longer. Maybe leave the ring. Modulation on and a press D to enter the draw mode and like just let the cutoff fall, it doesn’t really follow the motion of our sparks here.

I think it’s reworked a bit by mod team and it’s a very nice processor for guitars, keep it above others. So I can see it all the times at all times and I think I’m going to automate the gain. Let’s just loop this so I can experiment. I think it makes it more character for I’d like to add some very subtle reverb to just define some feeling of space, because there it’s well that’s too much.
Let’s try it before the distortion. Actually, I like the amount of reverb before the final blip, because then it’s like it should just wow just crack explode and there’s nothing. Just silence like the darkness. We see so I’m going to automate the mix ratio. It’s maybe use the right mode, so I just can yeah record this now it’s in touch mode, so place back, that’s great Wow! My timing is almost perfect with this look at that.

I just really want some noise, really it can be a simple white noise or maybe I can try making something a little bit more interesting.
Let’s try to frequency modulation with noise noise. Why not and make it bandpass filtered resonate Li wave an envelope going from down to long, I’m just doing random stuff. I don’t know what it’s going to sound like, and you know it’s going to be too much. If I do this yeah and in the end, let’s go with a slight notch filter make it go from up to down, because why not? Let’s hear it? Okay guess I I have too much resonance just too long yeah, let’s give it more voices and more stereo.
More detune for each voice, nah this sounds crappy. Let’s do it in the mono and I’m just going to duplicate this voice, panned them harder, left and right and then change something about it like the waveform or the pitch, and maybe let’s try some big different bass. Wait for him that it’s modulated, maybe sure. Ah, this is painful how about making it start hiring a pitcher or lower. Actually, it doesn’t really matter.

So I’m going to go to controllers in the global window, and here we have the pitch will Bend range in sense. 200 sense is 2 semitones, because 100 cents is a semitone. So if I want to go to an octave, I need 1,200 yeah. This is cool. If I can do this well, this is going to be great sound for the anticipation before the big explosion.

What is nice and what we wanted to remove yeah now it sounds a little bit less Bumi. Let’s try it. The weird thing is, I think, something’s different, I don’t know, okay, I need to hit the notes more gently, because there is a certain amount of modulation that is too much and it just destroys everything. It sounds better when I hit it slightly. Okay: let’s try to record this hmm okay! I guess I missed it.
I wanted to see if there is yeah the pitch wheel, you Gordon – and I guess it displayed back, but the note was too too hard. I like struck it very hard, so I’m going to use my mouse wheel to make it softer. I think we could also go with two octaves of pitch Bend. So let’s go to controllers. Ah, this is not this instance. I never use the small ones never, and you can see that it’s a bit jagged because we have very limited resolution.
