WINTER WEATHER IN TX // CARE PACKAGES FOR THE HOMELESS

I know I’m proud of you yeah, like your second workout this week, great okay, so obviously I’m still working out officially seven months pregnant this week, twenty-eight weeks third trimester. What’s on the agenda today more work and then everything else related yeah yeah. In a way, I’m doing taxes which will didn’t give me more money to do things on the house. That’s true! That’s fun! No! No! So we’re going to work on that today, I figure out what we’re going to have for dinner.

I’r trying to plan meals a little bit better, so we’re going to do that, go to the store and then I’ve got some online client work. So yeah, that’s that’s our day to day work taxes, food TV, /, sit in bed and do nothing time. Always that’s a given well, first coffee and coffee ran out, of course anything pity yeah, that’s all cleared out over there, but that’s not the way that the cars me running down because we’re trying make a pass for the car tube.

So I guess the the truck can either come behind the house, which is there or there’s actually the a big path right through here, just a little bumpier until you get to like right where you’re standing come on this way, let’s see okay, so we can actually Go up in there now too, not that we need to. Let you see this see how the you smell that and see all the butterflies look at this tree. You know there’s a ton of bees on there too, but look at that they’re pulling all the pollen and stuff from this.

It’s like white flowers growing on this thing. This is right in our backyard, but they keep coming this way. Let’s see if you can drive all the way through here, let cut down all those Cedars for more fence posts. So those are me nice. I know there’s some deer over there, everything Brady Brady are you going to cross over there we go and we’re still going to weed eat. This whole area just keeps growing.

I think a little pathway all through here and then cows walked by here certain times. One of those things that balloon, my D is a get this smooth enough where we can make it a running trail Amy. When I ran yeah well, you can actually bike. It. That’d be a lot easier. Your bike is good enough for this, and then these are possibly chairs and a table and there’s actually more over there and we’re going to take it all the way back through there too, because there’s actually only Cedars all through there.

And then this cactus on the left side – oh they just burned, they didn’t really do any like. This is all clear. Already yeah, there’s already grass growing, that’s pretty cool. This is where the story ends so yeah. It goes back another weight like 200 feet or so before it starts curving back that way, and they can expect to the house. Are you guys until before my camera dies, I’m going to show y’all really quick? I know we haven’t talked about the care packages in a while, so it’s going to update y’all on what we have for this month’s.

I just finished out three. I’ve got one sitting here ready and then I’ve just finished out three more care packages. So, if you guys don’t know what the care packages are, if you’re new to this blog or you just haven’t, heard us talk about them, what we’ve been doing for about two years now, thanks to the help of you guys on patreon, is we put together what I call care packages for the homeless, so since we move around a lot, we tend to run across a lot of people that are on the street and being so close to Austin and going to us and quite often there’s a ton of people that just I I see it as needing compassion and love and it’s a whole other topic in its own.

But I’m I’m a huge advocate of just doing every a little bit that you can to make a difference in this world and sometimes a very, very simple gesture can make all of the difference in the world to somebody else. So we started with the ziplock baggies and I would put in like a snack, a water bottle, a toothbrush and some socks or something super super simple. We talked about it on the blog years ago, back whenever it was a Fitness blog, and it was just a large Ziploc baggie that I we would have in the car and I would hand out as we’re driving around if whoever came across anybody.

If we’re walking downtown Austin, I would just carry a couple with me and just okay, so it did die but real, quick before knives again for the pet care packages. I’r just going to show you off: we’ve got our lovely blanket and the weather has been so random here in Texas. It was 70, probably upper 70s yesterday, and then we woke up this morning. It was 42, so I never know you can always be prepared.

So also we have tissues, we’ve got a little toothbrush. Dental kit, refreshing hand, wipes refreshing is key. Sunscreen, some Wheat, Thins snacks, and I try to get some just easily transportable non perishable things that don’t require cooking. So just a lot of crackers and peanut butter type in bars, and then these little travel first aid kits we’ve got some electrolyte waters and socks which these are five packs.

I say this time and time again and in case anybody needs to hear it socks. Are they have been called hobo gold, the guys that we gave a care package to one time? Apparently, socks are some of the most appreciated items that you can give to people on the street so and then, along with that, we’ve got a ton of these lira, bars ton of peanut butter crackers and then a couple little travel-size, my neck size trail mixes.

So that’s what’s in all of these care packages right now, I’ve got four ready to go and yeah we’re going to get these out. Hopefully, hopefully this week, every now and then I’ll get questions from people on where to start. If they want to do something like this, because they see us doing backpacks and all of these big items and it gets kind of overwhelming, but what I tell them is just start with what you can just like.

I said having that Ziploc with just various little items can make all the difference in the world, and I have yet to have anybody turn these down. It’s it’s. It’s kind of heartbreaking whenever we pass these out, because you have this super short interaction with this person, and I don’t know them, they don’t know us and we basically what I’ll do is I’ll roll down the window. It’s usually at a stoplight I’ll roll down the window or I’ll.

Ask him: hey: we’ve got we’ve got these backpacks they’ve got snacks, they’ve got water, they’ve got some essentials in them. Would you like one and they’re usually kind of taken aback by it, because I don’t think that they expect it and Matt’s gotten a hug before I’m freaking out one of these? It’s just it’s! It’s very heartwarming, but it’s also heartbreaking at the same time, because to see somebody so moved by something as simple as socks.

It really kind of reminds you of what’s important in this life, so I always just encourage people do what you can. I know a lot of people don’t like to give money, and that’s you know you don’t you don’t have to if anything, just a smile can sometimes be encouraging for somebody else. You know these are these are people just like us, and I know that there’s there’s a lot of people that might be on the streets for good reason, but the worst thing that this can bring is is just a reminder to them that they are cared for By somebody and so yeah, as if block Maggie, just fill it with a couple random items, you know water, oh man, what too bumpy for you? No, he doesn’t step in he peed into it.

You can see this, that’s it!

How To Start | A Gary Vaynerchuk Original

Let me tell you how hey guys I know I look like from scholars right now very high in the air back from London, headed to a York City Expressway a article, so many of you are stuck and can’t start.

I broke it down into that. What how and where right whw right like what are you going to talk about, but the way all of you need to do this and how you actually start is by doing you ever done anything, yet you know this whole fake it till you make. It brings. No value to anybody, you need to make something, and that thing is a manifesto. It’s always been obvious. It’s always been obvious. What causes success? What I needed to do you know every time I read content the internet web television readed, opening the other night was responsible.

Is working she’s interviewed George Lucas, something seeing the same shit. We took it to all the studios, every single one of them and nobody wanted it. So what you do so I said: well, I’m not going to give up now. You’re stuck you haven’t, started cuz you’re stuck, I think, you’re of using trumps the excitement of victory for so many people. So here you go what what I’m going to talk about? What do you want to be known for? Look yourself in the mirror and ask yourself: what do I want to do every day for the rest of my life? Do that and see what people need to understand is the way we communicate today is so different and the platforms have been redefined.

You want to be in health and fitness, you want to be in strategy, you want to in social media, you want to be and sneakers you want to be in coffee. You want to be in electronics, you want to be in in fashion york like smurfs smurfs. It up, you can make seventy thousand dollars a year talking about the smooth, whether that’s your mission or where you’re at right. Now your truth manifesto tell me what you’re thinking about it like if somebody made a article eight years ago that I think fashion should be high low.

I think people should wear expensive, stuff and inexpensive stuff in one wardrobe. They would have been like the queen or king of the vision of the fashion industry, just by making a article for the thing that facebook why your Instagram, like facebook’s, going to buy instagram four months later it happens. So I was on Piers Morgan, this company’s 550 days old, how the hell is it worth a billion dollars and my opening line is they stole it? And then I guess, last year, this time right, facebook bought whatsapp for 18 billion, and every article like the next day after the news came out is like oh wait a minute.

They fucking stole Instagram the. How is there’s only a certain few ways to communicate in the world whether this is article form something extreme yeah like just get on a train and go away for a week or something different? You have to break pattern whether this is audio form sitting here. Listening to my music list and I’m starting to find a little clarity, audio being a podcast you’re, an outspoken advocate for both hustle with self-awareness yeah.

So if you had to put them in order, even if it’s a 1a and one sample in self-awareness, not important when you know her, you, yes, when you know who you are hustle sexier yeah like it would have been cooler for, like the people. Listening for me to say, hustle, because it’s cooler right heck, you mean of do podcast, put the record on your phone and just speak your truth as I sit here right now, writing this article or at least mellowing it, because that’s how I do it get in Front of a camera to Southeast out, you know I’m old, now, kids, at 40, I’ve observed a lot to tell you that optimism and positive is a huge variable.

Good morning. Instagram me Gary. Instead of a motivational quote or some sort of collapse, one of those tamanna fees tell you all the guys, their attention thumbs up on the tripod or have a d-rock, your nephew or sister, making me this is real quick you can in turn is here. Somebody guys might remember him or you write it, but the way all of you need to do this and how you actually start is. By doing I create an obnoxious amount of content because you’re the strategy of how we do it don’t do anything.

Just keep. Reading keep reading my stuff keep being entertained by my energy. Keep being inspired, don’t do don’t look and have dinner at seven o’clock and 22 years like when your strategy is right, you win, and so we have figured out that pillar content creates content underneath it at scale. Everybody welcome to the first hashtag askgaryvee. I think it’s the first one, but I actually do think I tried to do this once before.

I feel like I’ve got the team now in place to actually do this more often to macro patients macro patience, my patients you’ve got a deploy. Patients you’ve got to love the process, what’s the ROI of social media, so I look at her ago. What’s the ROI of your mother, there are so many people in here that shouldn’t be producing article, because that is not the best way they communicate only a decade ago, as I was speaking here, all I would be talking about is blogging.

Yet there are people in this room that are caught up by picture and article communication and they are tremendous writers and they don’t realize that blogging or posting on medium or even my favorite little hack. Right now, if you’re a good writer – and you want to build up a profile for your business or for yourself, I actually highly recommend you start blogging inside of Facebook and Instagram, I literally mean writing seven.

Fifteen twenty five sentences. Three four five paragraphs word: a written content within your feeds that people will absolutely consumed. So that’s number one and two know what and and how right like. How are you going to do it and then we’re distribution? That’s that’s what you need to figure out next and it’s the hardest part for a lot of you hardest part is to start the next hardest. Binlog things are hard hard to start hard to know what format do it in audio written article and the number three? How do you get people to see it all goes down in the DM which key is providing other people more value? I just don’t see people doing it, it blows me away and it is absolutely wonderful and it is absolutely going down on Instagram DM influencers where you pay for it even pay in facebook ads Instagram a sponsorship deals youtube pre-rolls against people of those interests fashion.

You know feed line, sneakers technology or or you reach out to people that have audiences urge hashtags click them look at. The account then see how you can bring them values, DM them go and soft, bring value, rinse and repeat: 10, three or five thousand times. So the thing maybe should do is go upper east side doesn’t get. This guy looks like it took picture Haji Instagram influencers right now today, for doers is the probably, but only behind facebook, ads the single best arbitrage in marketing and then then try and then you learn when you’re a pioneer you have to taste it.

There’s no report. There’s no white paper, there’s no modeling mixed metrics that are going to teach you how that’s going to work when you’re the first explorer. You have to taste the berries and hopefully they’re, not poisonous we’re living through this incredible era of massive opportunity. Yet everybody’s talking and reading and nobody’s fucking doing start fucking executing. So what does that mean? That means you should write a medium blog post every week, content podcast article written, quotes, pictures and then tactics.

What scares me quite a bit is that most of you, when you see these logos, you think of a piece of content that you make and you think of those five blogs and more as places where you distribute it. Twitter and Facebook are tools. Twitter and Facebook are markers and crayons right, no fax machine. These are not just distribution blogs. These are blogs where you have the natively story, tell Facebook youtube and instagram or ABC NBC and CBS, and what I figured out for last decade is how to make mash and the end with and show, and he are inside.

Though, and my question is, how do I also and stop being a pussy metemma, I want to do where you are go. What’s lacking you some, I don’t know other people’s POV come on man classic style. Yes, yes, please take a step back and think about how awesome it actually is. It is imperative that not only do you start thinking about your content strategy on these platforms for your business, facebook, targeting I mean, like I mean that’s it like you, can literally put your business address, run a male, a radius around it or everybody in the 70, 8, 1 zip code or 20 8802 as very Jersey in the house, zip code and everybody will see it and that’s in that zip code in that feed.

It’s a piece of cake. So if we talk about coffee, Google, the word coffee and the word blog or coffee and media company and literally email, every editor and writer of every copy blog on the internet, the way you’re going to make money online and by the way anywhere it’s by grabbing. It so if I were you, I would do this, I would go to whoville, I would type in beer, so I would click this one pop glasses, calm.

I go to this site, I see what they have. I would find if the phone number of this place. Here’s a phone number. I pick it up. How long could I speak to about you guys, possibly advertising a light? Beer blog that’s mean, then search the hashtag coffee and go to every coffee, influencer and coffee, released and coffee media site on Instagram and DM them, and ask them to give awareness to this manifesto.

You just wrote, and one out of three hundred twenty-seven will but that’s better than zero. Undervalue is just that. One view needs to be the right view. Place one view is a humongous will take sense until you do it and what I’m willing to sit here right now and make this article hoping that one fucker one boxer says: oh shit, yeah fuck it. Where the threaten word. We look at the mediums linkedin.

The word presses, you start a blog right or we do it on your facebook or you do in your cereal. How there’s only really three core waves in the current internet to really communicate to the world, the written word or article? What I’m doing right now youtube facebook, article Instagram one minute version article – is the other way we communicate a number three audio the boom of podcast. These are things that matter what the fuck do you want to talk about? How are you going to communicate it written audio or article, and how do you get people access see? This is where we showed you how to go into the DM right, then, before you’ve got to figure out how to use some money and use facebook ads and target the people that you’re trying to reach or grinding hustle.

Just literally female is 702 1500 different blogs or media sites and saying he wanted this spread with my content, somebody has a 14,000 person, email newsletter about coffee news, find that person and ask them Scott asked, be smart, Jab, Jab right hook, ask them what you can Do for them, because you want everybody to read this. He posted on medium and hit up the editors of medium, who curate content post a link on it and to read it right, hit up the 4700 coffee influencers on youtube and send them a message and ask them if they want to read it on their youtube.

Blog that has 147 views. 147 news is better than zero, the fuckin work and how you start

HOW TO REQUEST ACCESS TO A FACEBOOK BUSINESS PAGE

You guys shout out to you who you who go you who go commented. Um commented on one of my older articles, but I thought it was a good one. I thought it was something I could share with you guys. I dropped a article in fact that article specifically goes over um. You know how i, how I request access, but i’ll just show you again. You know mid 2020 still doing the same thing focused on one niche since 2016, helping them with their social media, marketing, helping them with their facebook advertising one niche um since day one, and so this article that I dropped um.

In fact, let’s see if I can show you when this was made, this was made um, let’s just click on it. This was a article that I dropped um in back in 2019, so december 2019, not that not that long ago, but I wanted to kind of just give you an update um on how I how I request access so shout out to shout out to you yuhu. Shout out to you who, for commenting you guys any questions whatsoever, social media, marketing, um, building an agency.

You know affiliate marketing. Those are things that I focus on on this blog um. Helping people take their business online right, helping them capture leads, um, create landing pages, create sales, funnels, create email, automation, mainly mainly for real estate agents. That’s who i’ve been helping since 2016, but these same strategies apply for every small business owner. That’s why I focus on kind of keeping a general here on my youtube blog, so most businesses can can can benefit from the same.

You know value because I truly believe it’s all the same. It’s it’s paid traffic to a to a landing page to a lead capture page giving out some type of free offer that free offer can be a seven day pass to a gym. It could be a seven day pass to your yoga studio. It could be thirty. Five percent off your next burger. When you come in with your family and re redeem, this coupon, it could be a free seller guide if you’re a real estate agent, a free buyer guide.

You know if you’re a real estate agent, it could be. It could be a free consultation. It could be so many things man add to a landing page to offer that offer in order to capture that lead. That’s what this is all about, and so um again i’ve been focused on one industry. It’s all the same um. This is a question right here, a comment from from you who go hi david, I i am already an admin of the page on facebook.

However, when I go to facebook business, I do not see my page being reflected there. Um added the page, but the message I got: let’s see what it says, but the message I got was your request was access. Your request for access is pending yep. I know exactly what you’re talking about okay cool, so i’ll help you with this you who all right didn’t get any requests on page roles. How can I do with this? Okay perfect? So i’m going to i’m going to simply just walk you through and again that article was pretty much showing you how I do it, but i’m going to do it again, give you an updated version of 2020 um how I do it now um! So here’s what I do my whole initial pitch my whole initial um offer to to to you know my my clients to to the business owners that i’m helping with their you know marketing with their digital marketing.

My whole first approach and first product is the lower ticket. It’s a lower ticket. It’s it’s! It’s designed to break the bread. It’s designed to build a relationship. It’s designed to build rapport. It’s designed to get my foot in the door right. It’s offering a low ticket to to us to to a real estate agent, for example, um, but again the same you know, strategies apply for any business, but i’ll help them knock out a few optimizations on their social media platforms.

I’ll help them run a few basic, simple facebook ads just to give it a facelift and so in the very very beginning, as i’m onboarding a client i’ll request access to their business page so rather than asking for passwords, because I don’t want to do that right. I don’t want to ask them for their facebook password or anything like that. What I do is I tell them, especially in the beginning. It’s only in the beginning, when i’m, when i’m requesting access to their business, account to run a couple ads.

It’s only in the beginning, because what I do is I run those ads from my end. That’s that’s what this is all about. So what i’m going to show you over here yuhu, let’s go back to his question um. What i’m going to show you right here is how I request access so again, the first few ads that i’m running for them. It’s just to it’s just to get my foot in the door. It’s just to give their pages a facelift, i’ll run a like ad for them i’ll run.

Maybe a facebook article ad for them and and get thousands of people in their local area to see it right. A handful of first basic ads, low ticket um that gets that client on board and then and then I have a value ladder. You know from that point on, but um i’ll show you right here how I do it without asking for passwords, and so this is what I do all i’ll be on screen share. First of all, so if you’re not using this platform, which I just got done telling my son about it – um he’s a gamer.

You know shout out to christian he’s, building a youtube blog, um gaming and and just crushing it right, but I just got done telling them about this platform. This is a platform i’ve been using since 2016 since 2016.. Actually, since yeah yeah, let’s just call it 2016.. Since 2016, i’ve been i’ve been using this and and um rather than talking on the phone, rather than trying to explain my marketing services to a prospect over the phone over the telephone right over the old school phone, rather than doing that, i’ve always used zoom.

I’ve literally closed hundreds of clients, hundreds i’ve, i’ve done business with hundreds of social media clients again all in the same niche since 2016, and 100 of them came from zoom so, rather than on a phone call trying to verbally pitch what i’m offering. I always use. Zoom, so I can visually screen share and I can show them what i’m offering right. That has been a game changer um since day one so as I as i’m on line as i’m on zoom with them and kind of going over their facebook page going over.

You know what I can do and how i’m going to be able to help them and all this stuff right, i’m doing it all through zoom, i’m doing it all through through screen screen share and at the very end, when i, when i’m getting ready to onboard That client, when i’m getting ready to process that credit card right, I already onboarded them now, it’s game time now, i’m about to just run a few, a few basic ads for them again, i’m doing it on my end, um from their page, but from my ad Account and so here’s how you do it, you guys you just go to go to the client’s business page right and I tell them to go to their page as well, and I always want to double click home right here.

Just so I can get the full link. I don’t want all those characters at the end 972-129 right. I don’t want all those random characters. I only want this url right here. Facebook.Com forward, slash taft group, okay, so that’s what i’m looking for. So i’m i’m on screen share i’m showing them this. I’r also telling them to go ahead and hit escape, because I need them to open up a browser and go to their business page as well.

So i’m walking them through this as i’m online with them, and all I do is I grab this url and then I come back here and then I this is my ads manager. I click on the dots right here. I go to business settings and then what i’m going to do is i’m going to click on pages to the left. So writing your business settings – and this is one page you want to bookmark. What I would do is, I would create a facebook ads, which is my folder right here.

I would create an an ads manager folder, if I were you guys park it right here at the top book. You know create an actual folder and then start bookmarking a bunch of different pages inside the ads manager. This is one page. You definitely want to bookmark. This is your your business settings. Okay, so in here you click on pages and all i’m going to do is i’m going to click on the blue one add i’m going to request access to a page, i’m going to paste in that link and always make sure you see the drop down always Make sure you see the drop down? Okay, you’re, going to click on that and then you’re going to click you’re going to come down here to manage page.

You want admin access, okay, you don’t want just create ads. Just you know, freaking um, editor or whatever. You know you want everything just just request everything manage page admin, access, get the full shebang. Okay. Now here’s what’s going to happen right when I click on request access, in fact, let me just do it for the heck of it. I don’t know this person shout out to the taft group, but um, i’m using yours as an example, and then I can always remove remove it real, quick right right away as well.

Let me just show you guys for the example so bam right there. I just requested them now. What I do is, I tell them and this what so. This is what i’m thinking you’re saying: uh yoohu. This is what i’m thinking you’re saying because over here in your question or in your comment, however, when I go to facebook business, facebook business, I do not see my page being reflected there out of the page, but the message I got was your request for access Is pending so look? This is what I see right here.

Your request for access is pending so boom. That’s what i’m going to see on my end right now on their screen, i’m telling them i’m saying: hey, okay, cool share screen! If you want and i’ll walk you through this, so when they’re looking at their page, in fact, let me go to my business page because, when you’re looking at your own business, page you’re, looking at it from the editing editing, you know perspective whereas right there.

I I didn’t have access to the taft group right, so I i don’t see what I see now right here, which is business manager, because i’m not an admin, but when you’re looking at it from your page from your from your perspective from your site, you’re looking At your business page this, what you see you see everything here at the top page ad center inbox. So this is what they’re seeing right, i’m telling them! I’r saying: hey! Go to your business page and here’s what you’re going to do! You’re going to click on settings right there in the top right, okay, you’re going to click on settings and then what you’re going to do is over here, on the left hand, side you’re, going to click on page roles and right here in the page roles.

This is what i’m telling them. I’r saying: click on page roles and as you scroll down towards the middle of the page, you’re going to see right here, respond to request you’re going to see inspired digital, which is me right. You in your case. It might be your business page or it might be your name, but whatever it is, you tell them. You say: hey man, you see my name right there and and you’re at that point.

It’s not going to say remove. Yours is going to say, respond to request. So this is all i’m telling i’m saying: okay, cool! Look at look for my page right there under agencies. Look for my page and all you’re going to do is you’re going to respond to request. They click on that it takes them through a process where facebook asks for their password. They enter their password on their end and they accept your request and then here’s what you have to do.

This is what’s super important. Then you have to refresh this page right here: okay, follow my lead, you have to refresh this page and then it will say access given or access granted. It will say that right here at the top now this one’s going to say it’s still going to say pending, because these people don’t even know me right – the taft group so they’re not going to request they’re not going to accept me at all.

I’r just doing this for the example but you’re going to see right here. It won’t say once they do that on their end right once they respond to requests put in their password, and then you come over here and refresh the page this right here. It will no longer say your request for access is pending. It will now say you now have uh granted you now. Your access has now been granted or it’ll say something like that.

You’ll you’ll you’ll know it looks different than this right here: okay and then what you have to do, which is mandatory required or you’re not going to be able to to to attach yourself what you’re going to do is you’re going to scroll down and you’re going To simply add read, let me let me look at this client so right here, i’m going to add people, that’s what you’re going to see. This is exactly what you’re going to see right here: you’re going to see you’re going to see owned by individual and then you’re going to see permissions given.

This is what it is. So you end up seeing this right here and then you add people. You won’t see your name right there just yet until you add people, you click on, add people. You find your name over here to the left. You check that circle and then you assign that is it? Okay, that’s how I do it. That’s how i, and and the reason why I do it this way again, is because i’m only running a handful of ads for them in the beginning, and i’m doing it for my ads manager from their business page, which this allows me to do it from their Page once I add people and add my name and then I add people then boom there’s my name right there.

I have access to the page, i’m good. Now I can run it from my ads manager, but from their page. Okay – and this is this – is when I run a like ad – this is how I run a like ad i’ll. Take them from 300 likes to 3 000 likes i’ll run like ads like this, and then i’ll run a handful of article ads for them. Just in the very beginning, and then once I get them as a monthly retaining client, then i’ll teach them how to do it from their end.

Okay, um! So that’s how I do it there and then once you come over here to the ads manager. Once you add your name, okay, you have to add your actual name right there, where it says, add people once you do that and then you come over here and run an actual ad. Let’s come back over here and let’s just go through the setup, just um. This is a brand new account. Let me just try this one. So as I go through the setup hit, the green button create, let’s say we’re going with um.

Let’s just say: let’s, let’s say engagement, let’s say we’re doing a page like ad um. So there goes engagement, we’ll scroll down. There goes page likes, we’ll click, the blue button and then over here it’s going to ask us which page um do you want to run it from and then you’re going to just simply hit the drop down so right here? It is um okay, so let’s get on this part we’ll hit next and it’s right here.

So it’s going to say, facebook page and all i’m going to do is hit the drop down and i’m going to find that page. So all of my pages are right here. All of the pages that I manage are right here in my inspired digital. Now again you might have a business name right there. You might have your name right there, just look for the multiple pages and you’ll see it there, so I click right there and then I find that one page taft group or whatever and then boom.

I choose that and now and then I keep going and then I run that ad again, a like add a article ad i’ll. Do it like this just to kind of get my foot foot in the door just to just to start that that business relationship and let these people know exactly how how much value I can bring? And then again, if I end up taking them up my value ladder, that’s when i’ll get them as a monthly, retaining client and teach them how to do all this from their end.

Okay, so hopefully that made sense. You guys again, i’m dropping bombs like this. Every single day social media marketing, um, affiliate marketing, making money online um and and just keep it simple, whatever type of business you’re building, if if it comes down to, if you’re, looking if you’re building the type of business where it comes down to capturing leads, because You have some type of offer.

My top 3 SEO strategies

Ok, so my top 3 SEO strategies and how I implement them. These are the top three things that I do to get extra traffic through the search engines. The first one is chasing high-volume keywords, which is probably more what you think of when you think of SEO.

Is you think of getting to the top of Google for highly competitive keywords? So that’s just one of three strategies I use the second. One is long tail keywords and the third one is exact match domain. So in this article I’m going to go through these three. In detail and show you how I go about getting traffic using each method, so high volume, key words and in this example I’ll use the word website design, which is a site that keyword that my site is currently ranking on the front page of Google.

For so you can see it there in first position at the moment, so the keyword website design gets twelve-thousand exact, match searches per month, which is a lot. It’s probably not the most targeted keyword, because it’s not necessarily people looking for website design companies, but out of 12,000 people. I get a fair chunk of that traffic depending on where its ranking at the time and it fluctuates around.

But if I’m ranking first i’ll get at least i’ll, probably get more than that, but, let’s just say: 1,300 visitors a month, 15,000 visitors a year and obviously ranking for these sort of keywords is very very competitive. So what I look at here is is how do you go about ranking for a highly competitive keyword? Basically, you will ranked first in Google if Google thinks that you are the authority for that keyword, so your site has to contain that content, but there’s millions of websites that contain the word website design.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=rhqMWmMjzqU

So that’s obviously not enough having the keyword in your domain probably helps a little bit having it on the page. At various places in the URLs probably helps a little bit, but but again, there’s lots and lots of website with website design on their page in their URLs and in their domain. How old your site is? It is important for a few reasons google gives. Basically, it knows that if you build a site today than your site has no authority, if your site’s been around for 15 years, then not in mind that mine has.

But if it has been around 15 years, then it knows that your authority who is linking to you is obviously a very, very important one in that in the last five or so years or more, I guess is probably been the number one thing that determines SEO Position for these high-value keywords, and who is talking about you is more of a the social media aspect of things. If you’re writing lots of content and lots of people are talking about you and sharing your content, this is the kind of thing that Google likes and is going to like more and more in the future.

So, in terms of exactly what I do, first of all, my site is a fairly old site. It’s got Authority already and because I build websites. Obviously, every website I build has a link back to my site, as do most other web design companies, but I’ve built a lot of websites, and I bought this side of someone before me had also built a lot of websites. So there’s a lot of existing links through to the site.

It’s a relatively old domain. The key word is ended up in the domain, whether that helps possibly helps a little bit. If it was an exact match domain, it would definitely help, but the key word being in there certainly doesn’t hurt. Obviously, the on-page is fairly well optimized for website design, but it’s also optimized for other terms, and it’s on page stuff is not something I focus on massively for these really high volume.

Key words: the unpaid stuff is not a massive consideration. You kind of just do it once to make sure it’s optimized correctly and the rest of it has to do with off page factors. Building backlinks is is basically what it’s about at the moment is having more backlinks having higher authority backlinks having links from sites in the similar industry that are of a high authority, and we do that with ongoing SEO on the site, and that’s not really something.

I can talk about in this article. I will talk about that in future articles, but it will take me forever so I’ll leave it there for now. Creating great content is really important and I’ve got a blob in there, where I add lots and lots of stuff too, and this stuff’s important, because people share it and I put something on Twitter and people will share it. People talk about it, i’ll download it they’ll, send it to people and google sees this sort of stuff and decides that this site is a bit of an authority for that keyword.

So the second strategy I use is long tail keywords and long tail keywords are ones that get a lot less monthly searches that could possibly be more targeted than something like website design, if, obviously, if, if you’re only getting traffic for one long tail keyword you’re wasting Your time, but the thing is with long tail keywords – is that they’re pretty easy to rank for so you can pension potentially get traffic for hundreds of them, and if your aim is to get 1500 visitors a month and you can get free visits, you know for Every long tail keyword, if you can rank for 500 of them, then you’re achieving the same thing.

So it’s it’s much easier to convince google that you, you are the authority and a really specific niche. Then, if you choose a really broad keyword like website design, so if you look at this chart here, my sites getting traffic for 698 different keywords and hopefully I’ll be able to increase that with my strategy going forward to a lot more than that. But as you can see, if you’re getting traffic for 700 keywords, you can get a few thousand visitors a month just for getting a couple of visits per keyword, so these are some examples that I get traffic for fix.

Some of these are deliberate, some of them. I just ran them. I did a blog post on fixed versus variable with website designer got shared by a few people, and it I ranks on the front page for that. So I get a bit of traffic for that, probably not the most targeted thing. I don’t know how many of my customers are searching for that, but I like to get traffic from people interested in website design anyway, because they’re they’re, just as likely to share my content, which is good for Google as well and there’s some of the other longtail Keywords there that I get traffic for so how to rank for long tail keywords: it’s good to have some site authority to start with, because if you’ve got a main site, that’s got a bit of authority.

It’s not that hard to rank the subpages. If you got a brand new site with no authority, it’s going to be harder for you to rank even for a long term keyword. So with any sort of SEO the longer you’ve been around and the more authority you have the better. So you’ve got to know what the long tail keywords are. If you hear lots of people saying right, lots of content and that’ll be great for google, it’s kind of true with his long tail stuff to some extent, but wouldn’t it make more sense to actually write content that mention these long tail keywords rather than just randomly Writing lots, lots of content about stuff and hopefully you’re picking some of those up both strategies work so randomly writing lots of stuff you’ll find you get traffic for weird terms that you didn’t expect to get traffic for like that fixed versus variable width design, but strategically Choosing longtail keywords and writing posts and pages on those is another strategy that works really well, because you can see how much traffic those keywords are getting before you do it.

So you know whether it’s worth while you’re writing a post. You’ve got experiment because you don’t necessarily know someone may be dominating a particular keyword, even though it doesn’t get much traffic and it might not even be worth your while. You know shooting for those keywords. It’s sort of hard to know, sometimes, which ones you’ll be able to rank from which ones you want so you’ve got. Experiment mention these keywords in your blog posts and obviously share your blog posts, and sometimes if it’s, if it is a keyword, that’s getting a few searches and you’re kind of on the second page after writing a post.

Then then, it’s useful to do a little bit of link building to get you on the front page and then and then move on. So this basically outlines what we do. My site has authority to start with. So if I write a blog post on something, that’s not a highly competitive word, then Google will visit my site. You know, probably on the same day, it’ll Elend X, that blog post and it may put it on the front page of Google straight away depending on what it is.

I use the Google team keyword tool and I look for key words that aren’t hugely competitive keywords, but ones that are worthwhile writing post for so, if they’re getting sort of a hundred searches a month and – and you might get ten percent of that traffic – 10 searches. A month it doesn’t take that long to write an article, so I figure that’s probably worth it. If it’s getting five searches a month, then it’s probably not worth it.

If it’s getting a thousand searches a month, then you probably won’t rank for it unless you’re doing proper, ongoing link building. So that’s that’s a bit of a benchmark. I use for my own site. I experiment as well to see what works and you know I’ll, have groups of keywords, so i’ll write, ten different pages on wordpress and see how those go and something broaden an international like wordpress.

You typically won’t rank very well for, but if you choose something more specific you might rank well for that, so you focus more on those keywords and that’s what I do depending on what the keyword is. I might write a whole bunch of pages on my site. If it’s not sort of really great content that I want to share with my blog readers, I’m not going to write a blog post on it and fill my blog up with junk I’ll write.

A number of different pages on my site. And if one of the pages starts ranking well, then I will put a little bit more effort into the quality of the content. If I think there’s fair few searches for a term or if I think, there’s an opportunity to write great content about the keyword. Then I’ll write a blog post about it and obviously, if it’s a blog post off share it and I’ll hope that other people share it as well and if I’m close to the front page I’ll, do link building for that term to get it onto the front.

Page, typically, once it’s on the front page, it’s easy enough to stay there. So the third strategy I use his exact match, domains now. Here’s here’s an example: one of my domains when searching for web development brisbane this domain is coming up, for I don’t do much. I don’t really do any SEO at all on this domain. I probably did a little bit at first. I create a bit of content. It’s a blog. I’ve got in there and use it to blog about things that happened during a week and aren’t really massive things that I would put on my main blog.

But I don’t do a lot of SEO work on there, but, as you can see, it’s ranking for a keyword that gets a fair few searches against somewhat Brisbane biggest web development companies and that’s mainly because of the domain. So Google still places of fairly high importance on exact match domains. I’ve heard Matt Cutts say that that importance will be well back and I can understand why that would happen, but I don’t think it will be gotten rid of completely because an exact match domain is a finite resource.

You can only get one exact match: domain. / keyword, so I think it will always be important and I think an exact match domain you know.Com or calm that I you for an exact keyword match for a keyword is always going to be easier to rank and at the moment it’s significantly easier to rank. So I guess what you’ve got to do is find keywords that get a decent amount of search volume, search for domains that match those keywords and then set up a wordpress blog on the domain and then and then build links to that site if necessary.

So this is exactly how I do it. I use the google keyword tool to find domains. That’s yes, so, firstly, to find keywords to look for domains, i’ll, look at something like domains, central.Com that a you or net fleet and put in those keywords to see what domains are available. Typically, in my industry, none of these domains are available anymore on the brand new domain market, but you might find that they become available on the aftermarket and net fleet for Australian domains and godaddy options or drop day.

4.Com domains are too useful places and you can easily get exact match domains like I picked up a exact match domain in my niche last week for forty dollars or something and it’s one that gets quite a few searches and then I’ll set up a wordpress blog Depending on what the domain is, I might just set up a blog. That’s just got full of content. That’s got lots of downloads and stuff from ebooks that I’ve written to sort of get people to get their read an e-book, and if they like what I do, then you know maybe they’ll call or if it’s, if it’s other, potentially like a company type website.

I might set up a separate sort of business website for that, like a different brand. So, for me, setting up a webs is really easy, and I’ve got an e-book that I’ll link to in on my site where you can go through and set up a wordpress blog it. It would take probably a couple of hours realistically to set up a nice-looking, useful site that you can update. We would typically write one article a month for the blog and we build links using just a basic entry-level sort of SEO practice to that blog.

For a couple of months, until its ranking well in Google and then typically, I just leave it and then see it and then just monitor it occasionally to see how its ranking right. That’s it they’re my three strategies, I’m going to be talking about SEO a lot more on my blog, our website, designer com that I you over the next few months because we’re working on our SEO program that, where they’re rolling out, probably in three or four weeks To our clients and so check that out or have a look at us on Facebook and Twitter and I’ll see you in the next article.

Thank you. You

MDi TV – What are advanced segments in Google Analytics?

Give you a bit of a an inside view into how you can segment your traffic and find useful bits of information to help you develop and improve your marketing campaigns before I kick off on a highlight our ecobuild tweet up on the 21st of March. At the event will be recording MDI TV at the event.

So, if you want to be included in the in the episode, please do tweeters are poorly creative or, if you’re, doing something interesting at the show. You’ve got seminar where your habits of product demonstrations or whatever it may be. Let us know – and we will try and get some article footage and include you in an episode that rounds up. You could build as part of the MDI TV series. The other thing I just want to quickly mention is our SEO workshop on 19th of April.

If you want to know more about how to increase the visibility of your website search engines, how to use Google Analytics to measure your efforts and looking at how to develop content as well. So that’s a workshop for building product manufactured marketers within part of my faction. Companies, if you go to the website bit ly /em di events 2012 and you can book your places, they’re more, the merrier, that’s all 90th of April here at Milton Keynes right.

Ok, let’s kick off advanced segments. What are the prime segments well in analytics? You’ll? Be able to break down your visitor data into more meaningful data, things that you really want to find out and a good way of explaining. That is, if you’re reporting or agencies or you’re in to report you on a monthly basis, visitor data to your website. You may see over a period of time that your visitor levels look something like this and that little bump there is a campaign or something that you did offline, that caused lots of people to come to your website.

What could find segments does is really breaks down. All of this area here into other bits of data, so one of the examples might be mobile traffic, so something in there will be over traffic. So there’s a portion of visits that come from mobiles. There may be search engine traffic which looks something like this, and then there might be returning visitors that looks like this, so it’s identifying the various different segments as part of the whole aggregated number of visits are come to your website, so in analytics, you’ve got a Set number of predefined segments and I’ll go through each of those explain what they are if you’re going to your analytics and at the top you’ve got advanced segments.

If you click on that on the left-hand side, you’ll you’ll see this list and first segment is new new visits. So what we’re looking at here is all your visits. What percentage of those visits are new visits and this kind of helps you identify how many new people are coming to your website in a relative time period so every month you may want to look at how many new visitors have come to your website returning visit.

So how many people come back within four weeks or six months or 12 months have come back to your website for more information? This is particularly useful for those of you got blogs, develop case studies on a regular basis, new stories, you may even have a login area, so you want to see how many people keep coming back to your website to login for more information or read more information. The next one is paid so paid visits.

If you, those of you who are doing pay-per-click advertising, this is the bucket or the segment and they falls into non-paid – is organic traffic from search, so you can see or split up also traffic by paid and non page. You can also do this through the search report itself and then you’ve got your to sort of traffic search and referral sort of breakdown. All of these visits into just search is it so this one we said earlier was searched.

So just show me, the number of people with all visits have come to my website from a search engine then you’ve got referral. Referral is referrals from other websites and some of those could be social media sites. It could be supply chain, partner websites that they’ve got a link from their website to yours. We could be directories so they fall under the referral traffic. You might want to segment with all traffic on a regular basis if you’re starting to do lots of advertising or you’ve started to do more directory advertising.

So you might want to segment that traffic and just view over a period of time. Is it getting better? Is it less? Is it the same and the quality of traffic that’s coming from those websites? Most importantly, and I’m very important, I always kind of mention that can anything to do with conversions is important. This is where leads are generated. This is where goals happen. On your website, this is the conversion, so here’s all of your visits and what you want to do is just take the amount of visits, though in conversion, so it might be some.

This might be a very small percentage of visits that actually turn into leads or subscribe for more information or download, PDFs or subscribe or login for cad drawings of sexual or it might be somewhere around here. But you need to send meant it out. You need to understand: is it getting better? It’s other ways of improving the number of people that sign up for things and download more information, one very popular one there that is becoming more and more power more.

We do it as well is mobile traffic mobile traffic, as a percentage of all of your visits could range from somewhere like one percent, or it could be as much as five or ten percent. Depending on your audience, one client that we have their percentage of mobile tropical hovers around five percent, which is pretty high, considering that the industry that we’re in the type of people, whether they’re office based or on-site base, usually most of the time it’s on-site engineers that Are visiting the website from a mobile device or a tablet device, so one that is, I may talk about in another episode on how and what to look out for final set.

One is non bumps. People have viewed more than one page. Remember. The bounce is basically someone, who’s come to your website, landed on a page and then left the site, and I always kind of have to say a bit of advice. Bounce rate for blogs is, and if you want, because people come to your blog, read one post and an a-league, so you know get worrying about your bounce rate, for your blog is, is not really a big issue.

It’s more of your product pages or your main internal website, page that you want to look up. Ok, so there’s standard and advanced segments in analytics. However, there’s a custom set of advanced segments I like to use on our clients, websites that give us a bit more information as to you, activeness of marketing campaigns that we develop so okay, the first one is brand keywords and if you go back to another episode Of MDI TV, where I talked about the difference between brandon non brand within search engines brand before mind you quickly is those visitors have come to your website from a search engine having typed in your company name or your product name or some sort brand name or Better employee, something that’s connected with the company non-brand – is those who have mentioned or search for no crime, in particular no product, name in particular no employee, so very generic blue stuff.

So, for example, an online keyword might be timber decking, it might be rain water harvesting. For education sector no particular brand names, the other segments really is campaigns and segmenting all of this data into campaigns. So what we want to do is take out our campaign data and we can see then something that may look like that. Email campaign, one email campaign to direct mail campaign three and segmenting that data and I’m going to look at – did they stay on the side or pages? Did they view? Did they then go to sign up for more information that they go and download brochures? So segmenting? Your campaigns is absolutely crucial in assessing how well they’ve performed.

I don’t wan na like. Is that the number of keywords that people use within search engines to get your site and look at other volumes? So how many visits have come from someone that resented one word into a search engine? How many you’ve come from entering two words? Three words: four words by words, and it helps you assess the long tail as you’re. Very it’s a complex procedure. Settle, you need to know a bit of a boxful regex to kind of set up and band segments in that way.

If you want to know more, please do email me or call us or tweet me quite happily give you a tutorial but again go back to the workshop. If you want to learn more of that, please do a tender workshop, social media traffic, look at your social media, honey; no, just look at twitter com as part of the referral or Facebook. What you need to do is create a segment of Twitter, Facebook, HootSuite linkedin, mobile facebook, tweet deck.

All sorts of referrals are linked to social medias, already delicious stumbleupon. All these websites that are part of the social media, social media platforms, the next one brand loyal visitors, one. I like one that people don’t really talk about, but I particularly like because I want to know how many people come to the. For example, the poorly created website, if typed in a poorly creative company name to google, they come to the website and they consume more than three pages of information and they stick around on the site for more than two minutes.

Let’s say, and they end up downloading one of our ebooks for me, that sort of visitor is a really good visit and I want to know how many of those visitors come to my website and monthly basis. It might really only be one or two but they’re the kind of visitors that I want on my website. I want the people that come to my website, time and time again. They read lots of content. They stick around. They share it with in legal team.

They share articles on Twitter, they download our ebooks. They subscribe to my newsletters all of that kind of stuff. It is what I want to know, and he only maybe two or three a month, but I need to know that two or three are maintained and all of a sudden, if I lose all those, I need to develop more good content. Finally, location, one of our clients particularly focus on developing business driving traffic, getting orders from a particular location.

So it’s a facilities. Management company in London really wants to target the London area so i’ll send st. Men all the traffic that comes to the website from london. So i’ll look at what pages will they land on what have a type into google to get to the website fun? Optimizing the website for facilities management company in London. I want to know that the number of visitors are coming to the website are increasing and they’re, consuming more content and they’re also subscribing to the blog and they’re, also sending in inquiries as well.

So hopefully, that kind of explains a little bit about advanced segments and how they can help. You understand all of that visitor data, so just looking at visit a visitor data and going fifteen thousand visits on a monthly basis, great the websites doing well. My advice would be to just dig a little bit deeper break that data down into small chunks and maybe just pick a few segments here in there and start optimizing will start developing campaigns targeting force regions or social media campaigns.

Again, if you’d like to know more, please do tweeter that poor, you’re creative I’ve got want more information on our tweet up or the workshop, and please do letters night. So let us get next time. Thanks.

5 Real Estate Agent Marketing Ideas that You’ve NEVER Thought of

Okay. What’s up, I’m at one of my listings: it’s a two-bedroom on the beach for 550 and I think you should take this moment to click Subscribe and hit the bell, because I’m posting new articles every Tuesday and Thursday to teach you how to get listings. Just like this one, all right in my house now – and I want to go through these five real estate marketing ideas that you never thought of, I’m just going to jump right into it here.

The first thing, a marketing idea for real estate, that I want you to start doing right now today is I want you to take your entire email database of all of your clients. All of your past clients. Internet leads all the emails that you have and I want you to create a custom Facebook audience with that with those emails, and what that does is is it creates an audience that you can name. It can be clients, it can be.

You know whatever you want. It to be – and it’s in your Facebook audiences now when you run Facebook Ads, you can run ads straight to those clients right and your dollars will be going just to those people in their Facebook feeds. Okay, so that’s big, because you know that every dollar you spin on facebook advertising is going to go straight to people that already know you or have heard of you or in your database getting emails from you, maybe or whatever the case may be.

This is huge because it builds brand recognition, they see your email and they see you on Facebook now they’re, seeing you in both places, if they’re not opening up their email right, but they are looking at Facebook. They’ll see you there, so this is big. I think a lot of your leaving money on the table with this okay tip number two is to combine your Instagram profile with your facebook business page and, if you don’t want to do that, create a second Instagram account just for your real estate business and combine That make it a you know, switch it to a business account and connect it to your facebook business page.

That way, when you’re running those Facebook ads to your custom audience who are already your clients, you can simultaneously run those same ads on Instagram to the same people. I think this is amazing, because now, if someone, if one of your clients opens up the emails great, if they don’t open up the email and they’re on Facebook, they see you there if they’re, not opening your emails or on Facebook but they’re on Instagram, they see You there right and if they open the emails on Facebook and on Instagram, they see you everywhere.

This is big because I run Facebook ads connected to the Instagram account every day. I have something running to my clients and so every day, they’re seeing me and it’s not always about real estate. It might be about a good place to eat. It might be about an event in the area. I’ll do another article going deeper with these ideas, but for now I just want you to know what these five marketing ideas are.

This third marketing idea is something that I’ve used, maybe three or four times, and it’s giving me huge exposure. Okay, I’ll go, Facebook live and it’ll be a short, maybe one-minute live article, maybe a minute and a half of the most and it’ll. Be me thanking everyone for the support and and love over the years and how much I care about everybody and how now I’m going to give $ 100 or $ 50, or maybe two different gift certificates to two really nice, restaurants or one really nice, restaurant and All they have to do is comment like and share this post, and so what happens is is on Facebook live, and I tell everybody how much I care about them and if they ever need anything in terms of real estate feel free to reach out I’ll.

Do everything you can do to help them, and what I want to do for you guys is. Is I want to give away this gift card? I’r going to pick a winner in three days or two days or, however long? Do you want to make the contest for and you’re going to say all you have to do is like comment and share this post. Okay from there. What happens is you can go, live from your business, page or or your personal profile, and so either way? It goes if you do it for your personal profile.

You need to share it to your business page. If you’re doing it on your business page, then you’re good right. You might want to share it to your profile. Just so all your friends and family see it as well, but from your business profile you’re going to boost it, you’re going to boost it to all those clients that are in that that list right, you’re going to boost it there and you’re going to boost this.

To everybody in your area, the general public, you can target the demographic you want, maybe twenty five year olds and up – and you know whatever the targeting you want to do for your area, but target and and run this ad. You boost this post to your clients. Your database, your custom audience that I just talked about and to the general public in your area right and what happens is every time somebody shares that the views start climbing higher and higher and higher.

I had a article that was 15,000 views because of this, and so those 15,000 views saw me saw that I cared about. People saw that I was in real estate and I’m here if they need anything at all and in the text above the article. I put you know my name, my company, my phone number and all that stuff, and I put the details of the contest when I’m going to announce the winner and then, when the day comes to announce the winner.

You know I just announce it. I actually edit the post, I put it there. I put it in the comments, I tag everybody and then I make sure they get the gift card or whatever, and it’s giving me huge exposure. So that’s a really good one. The fourth marketing idea I want to give you guys is to do a weekly email every single week on the same day of the week forever to your entire database. This has been the glue and the foundation that has held my business together, and it keeps me relevant with everybody in my past in terms of real estate, and they know that they can call me – and you know I’ll – go over the top two to make sure That you know everything is good and I’ll do anything for them to help them, and they know that so they get this weekly email every single week on the same day of the week forever and what it does is it grows those relationships deeper for you.

Without you having to really put in the work of calling all these people back, because when it’s it it’s consistent, it shows how dependable hard-working professional knowledgeable that you are and that’s what people want to see comment below. If you like, the first four ideas, tell me what you think of them. Tell me if you know you’re going to use them and put them into action. You know type. Yes, if nothing else to tell me that you’re going to try one of these ideas, so the fifth real estate, marketing idea that you’ve, probably never heard of, is run ads and Instagram stories.

Instagram stories is really big right now, people, it’s really growing. People are really reading it. There’s 800 million people monthly users on Instagram, 300 million of them are reading the stories and it’s growing. This is also somewhere where there’s some underpriced attention, because Instagram is still trying it out right. It’s still new into the market, and when things are new, it features are new and and the way different platforms run.

Their ads is a new situation. That’s when you really need to take advantage of it. For example, back on Facebook life first started when you went live it sent it to everybody. There were people get an eighteen, twenty thousand views just on a regular Facebook live where now you get a hundred right or two hundred or something like that. So in the beginning, stages is when you see the biggest growth – and I think Instagram stories ads in the Instagram stories is something you really need to take advantage of and you can create those stories in the Facebook Ads manager.

So those are my five real estate marketing ideas that you’ve never heard of click Subscribe. If you liked what you heard and give me a thumbs up all of my real estate. Coaching programs are a hundred percent free there’s a link below in the description for that. So let me know if you guys have any questions and we’ll talk to you soon.

SOCIAL MEDIA STRATEGY CALL | NETWORK MARKETING IN 2020

Okay, so is it kind of just something you’ll implement on the real estate in the real estate side of everything? Or do you actually want to try to get this out to more people? No, I want to try to get it out to more people yeah for sure.

So, well you what you I mean. What I would highly recommend doing is is really I mean it just comes down to what you want to do. I mean everyone has a different marketing approach, especially when it comes to this type of a business which is word-of-mouth and in simply networking. So some people just rely on building a business and in getting the product out or even building a team via word of mouth.

But today it’s it’s so so easy to run ads to attract people, but that’s right if you want to kind of take it to a whole nother level like if you want to take it to a whole nother level. That would be that would be running simple. Facebook ads targeting people who have this interest to get them to see your product like no one, not many in the industry of multi-level or network marketing or whatever you want to call it.

I love this industry. First of all, I started my entire entrepreneurship journey in this industry of network marketing and and word-of-mouth, so I’m very familiar with this type of industry, but very few actually run ads most just try to recruit friends and family or just word of mouth. So I just truly believe from a marketing standpoint where we’re at today with social media marketing, it’s so easy to get this product in front of thousands of people while you’re literally sleeping right.

You know, but but again that that’s for someone, that’s really looking to take it to the next level, that’s for someone that actually wants to invest and and and has a budget to even run a Facebook ad. You know, but then the very first ad what I reached out to you yesterday on is definitely the first ad needs to be that, like ad, no matter what that has to be, there has to be a comma in that number as soon as possible, and then, After that, you know we can always talk in the future.

If you have, you know even more budget to start actually selling the product. First is just the the the the social proof and the credibility of the page. You know coming here and seen eleven hundred likes versus 117. It’s that social proof, that’s step one and then after that is just yeah taking taking adds to a whole other level by actually selling the product. You know so I just don’t know how deep you are into this and how how because I mean again it could be simple.

It can be super super simple, but it does take some kind of budget. You know to run any type of ad right right. No, I don’t have a problem with that. You know so I would like to take it to the next level. Do you have what’s your wet? Actually, okay? So here’s your website right here, so this website what would be necessary, which most company websites do not allow. You to do is install your Facebook pixel.

That’s that’s number one and you may not know what a pixel is just perfect, perfect, so you’re very familiar. So the only thing that these companies don’t do is they don’t allow you to install the pixel on the on the website that they provide for you. So that’s that’s. When you’ll have to come up with a different webpage to get people to so you can run Facebook ads, and so you can really take it to the next level because you wouldn’t.

I would not at all advise you to run a Facebook ad to this website. Right here, okay and it’s a beautiful website, but that’s number one: that’s the problem, it’s too beautiful, and so, if I run an ad and and people are seen an ad see, here’s let me go back you when it comes to ads and it’s it’s very. It’s 100 percent the same with real estate in real estate. This would be a post on one single listing and when I click on that, I go to a web page where I can enter my name, my name and number, because I’m interested in that one specific listing there right why we wouldn’t run an ad to a Website like this is because a moment like we’re, for example, if we were promoting this exact product right here, we’re running an ad – are literally pain to get people to see it or pain, to get people to click it, and so the problem with the website is The fact that when I click it, I’m on the website and all of a sudden there’s a million things that I’m going to go, look at a million things and before you know it, I don’t end up buying anything because it’s overwhelming I might bookmark it.

I might come back to it later, but I paid to get that person to click and I and I paid to get this product exposed. But again the moment they come over here they saw a million other products and that’s what’s overwhelming, because we only have a short attention span and that’s how it is with marketing as well. You have a consumers, have a very short attention span, so I need to put one product and from their face, I need to get them to click it.

They go to a website. They see that one single product and they purchase. So when it comes to physical products like this, like, for example, if I can run an ad – and it takes me straight here – so this image would be this over here – I click on it. I come here, there’s only one product, there’s, nothing else to click on. I don’t see any of this stuff, I see add to bag checkout. That’s how you run ads when it comes to physical products when it comes to anything when it comes to a listing whatever it’s it’s taken, the click to one single product versus a website right, so so that that’s what you would have to do in this case Is you would have to have a single web page which the company they don’t provide that you’d have to get a third party software which there’s a ton of them out there I mean I use, I use one for sure for landing pages.

That’s what you need! You we need a landing page, ok, where it’s a one: it’s not a web site, it’s a web page and and again it’s promoting that one product and and it’s getting people to this one page to get them to click the one button and by that single Product you know so so that that that would be more for for marketing different products. So what I would do is, I would maybe go through this and see which one is your highest margin, where you make the most on any of these products and then and then simply take that one product and run ads on that or E or or it’s Either it’s either you’re going to do that, because you’re not going to run ads on the entire website.

That’s not going to happen at all! You don’t want to do that at all at all at all you’ll waste, your money. So it’s all about running an ad for one single product in this case or running an ad to get people familiar with the company and exposed to actually building a team with you all right. So so those are two different ad angles and those are the only two. Those are the best two: either we’re going to sell one single product and the profit margin is going to justify what we’re going to spend in advertising or I’m going to run ads to get people on my team and and as I build a team that income That residual income can obviously build from there, but, but today again, as I mentioned, it’s all here – it’s a it’s a it’s a simple Facebook ad.

It’s either that I’m going to explode, because your company has a ton of articles promotional articles showing how amazing the company is right, recruiting articles, they already have those types of articles. If you started running ads to get people to click on the article and come straight to your signup page, to sign up, that could be very powerful, and I and and I just from a marketing perspective – I truly believe that’s where we should be today, where 99 % of people that are in the industry, not only just in this company but in the industry as a whole, cuz, it’s a huge industry, so many different Amway’s Herbalife.

This industry has been around forever. Ninety nine percent still recruit their friends and family when trying to build a team right right so and that’s how you probably got exposed a probably friend of yours, you know a couple years ago expose you to it, because that’s that’s the most powerful way word-of-mouth, but At the same time, people are kind of sick and tired of that, and if we can leverage a simple ad to get that exposure, why not especially someone like you that’s build in a real estate business and you don’t even have all the time in the world.

Anyways right, so your time is very limited, so to run an ad and leveraged an ad to get people to expose to the company and and in hopes, though, that build a team with you. That could be simple and that could be powerful. And it’s not that. It’s it’s not that expensive at all at all at all. You know, but then again that’s that’s. If you’re looking to build the team, but it’s either, it’s either grab a handful of articles that I know the company already has like.

If I go to the YouTube blog, there’s, probably a ton of articles on their YouTube blog yeah amazing articles, promotional articles showing how amazing the company is their recruiting type articles which which you can easily use to run it to run ads on. Let me let me let me go to their to their corporate YouTube blog yeah, this one right here, 31 thousand subscribers. This is their main blog. All of these articles again, whether it’s a article on the company and and and and and it’s a promotional article to try to get people involved, or it’s a article on the product and and and now we’re running ads on the product.

That can be simple. Like all these articles are already done, these are professional articles that I can easily download upload to your Facebook page and run ads on. Like that, that’s powerful! That’s super simple! That’s super powerful! However. I wouldn’t be taken over this website. I’d be taking them to one web page where I can capture the lead or I can keep their attention on this one specific product and get them to buy that way you know so so.

For example, if I was running an ad, I would run up to this one single product when they purchase and they enter their name, their their credit card number and they actually purchase. Then they can go to the website and see all the products, but that’s okay. They already bought the product, all right, you know and again that’s the only strategy because I’m running an ad for it. You know I want to keep the ad very, very narrow and very targeted and very straight to the point on one single product.

So there’s just two angles: you can go either we’re going to you know, run ads on promoting and in in recruiting or run ads on on products back to be super powerful as well, but again step one. I would say just take that number up like your next dollar needs to go in into into exposing this to a few thousand more people where I, because you’re going to click, invite and and that’s probably as high as you’re going to get and then and then Now it’s just it’s just coming out of Facebook ad, so I think that should be step one step, one take that light count up and then and then we can definitely start.

What I would do is I would I would if I were you, I would go to the website and just look at the Commission’s and say: okay, which product do I make the most amount of money on and in in and and and would it make sense If I actually ran ads on that one product, because you could you could look at all these products and let’s say you do make a you know, I don’t know a twenty dollar Commission or twenty five dollar Commission.

Whatever. Maybe let’s say let’s say on any of these products, let’s say: let’s say on one of them: you make a Tony dollar Commission. If that’s the commission twenty dollars, it might not seem like a lot, but once we once you sell a few of them per day. It definitely adds up. It definitely adds up right example. The way I would start looking at it is, what’s my profit margin, what’s the highest margin, I want to run an ad on that one single product and if my profit margin is twenty bucks, that means that I can spend up to twenty dollars per day before I break even so if I can spend twenty bucks a day and sell at least one I break even and that’s how you want to look at it.

You want to look at it. What’s my profit margin, because whatever that is, I can afford to spend that much per day as long as I’m getting a sell as long as I’m getting one cell per day and the way you know this can possibly work is where you’re selling you know, five. Six, seven eight of them a day right at that at that same budget, you know you can spend twenty bucks a day and start selling ten of them a day, and so, although they’re there’s a million different products here, if you literally took the highest profit margin, One – and it was one and let’s just say that was under let’s just say that was hmm something under wedding.

Let’s say: let’s say we come to the gift guide and we go under the wedding category and we start running rent. Let’s just say: let’s just say this one right here, fifty bucks, you start running, you start running ads two for that one single targeting everyone who has an interest in weddings, so at 50 bucks. I don’t know exactly what your commission is – maybe maybe maybe 10 bucks. 15 bucks, but whatever it is, that’s how you would want to look at it is what’s the highest profit margin and let me run an ad on that one single product, because I’m telling you, although the website, has a million different products, if you came out the Gates and started selling 10 15 20 of these per day.

I’r here to tell you right now, and I don’t even know the company, but I know of the industry, I’m here to tell you right now that known and the companies even doing that right. Not even one single person out of tens of thousands that are in the company, not one single person is selling a crapload of one single product per day, right you’re, not not in any company. So when you can really take today’s marketing, which is social media marketing, you could take today’s Facebook advertising and leverage that, and do that, oh, my gosh, you can crush it.

You can crush it. You can crush it. So I’m just kind of planting seeds with you. I don’t like you to do this exactly right now. I want you to do your research. I want you to kind of see which look this one right here, 150 bucks. Your Commission has to be at least something I mean yeah. I know maybe 30 bucks. 30 bucks, so if that was the case, I’m telling you right now: aimée $ 30. If you were spending $ 30 per day and we were selling at least one at least you’re breaking even but at the same time I truly believe at 30 dollars a day.

You’d be selling several of those right, you’d be selling several of those, so be in no time when you’re at a hundred bucks a day and your closing escrow. So you know right where that’s just running behind the scenes, while you’re doing your real estate deals. You know so this 150 that that could be powerful. You know you target everyone who has an interest in wedding in weddings, everyone who’s getting married.

You know, Facebook has all that data like. I could target people if I was a wedding gown, you know manufacturer or if I was a wedding, gown retail store. I can literally target women who are getting married this summer right, like it’s, absolutely crazy, and so this right here man, that’s what you could do with that. But again it wouldn’t go straight to this one page. It would go to a web page, not a website.

So it would be a completely different page, which will now have which you, which you would have to budget for that as well. Now you got to have a completely separate web page. Well, it could it go in with my clickfunnels, oh yeah, oh yeah, for sure for sure I use a different one. I use cartridge only because it comes with the email autoresponder as well subscription with clickfunnels so you’re spending.

What are you spending 300 a month with it yeah? Oh man, Amy. You need to get on the one that I’m that I’m using it’s $ 97 a month for everything. Oh really, I left click funnels. In fact, I made a article over here on my youtube blog, I’m over here, building a YouTube blog, but I made a article back in 2018 as I was leaving click funnels to sign up with with this new software. Only because this new software has has multiple tools all for the same price.

Only because I need I need. First of all, when it comes to running ads, you need the landing page. You need an email autoresponder and in your case, with real estate, you want some type of online calendar, so as people are coming to your landing page, if you’re running an ad on a listing, they’re inquiring on your landing page they’re entering their name and email because They want more information.

Your email autoresponder sends out more information, but in your email, autoresponder there’s also a link for your calendar, so it’s mainly those 3 software’s in one for the same price, and so I literally yeah I’ve been on this new software for four four. Two years now – and it’s just it just saves me a ton of money. That’s all saves me driving I’ll, send you a link I’ll, send you a link and there’s a 14-day trial, just compare it like if you’re already using.

Actually, I’m in the hundred I just signed up for the 30 day challenge to learn how to build a funnel gotcha, gotcha, okay, so if you’ve already paid for that part, what was like a hundred bucks yeah yeah? So if you did that, then then go through it just so you know it, but at the same time you’re you’re spending way more money than you need to way more money that extra 200 a month so you’re spending 300.

On that, I’m telling you come over here and spend 97 for way more, that extra 200 a month needs to be your Facebook ad budget, or I bottom line bottom line bottom line. That extra 200 needs to be a Facebook ad budget and you would crush it. You’d crush it with real estate at a 200, our monthly budget, or you crush it with this, with with a 200 month budget. So, and that’s just with me, teaching how to do it like I’d, be open to you know, just teach how to run these simple ads, right, hey, but well, we’ll definitely get their work out.

Work out the products. Look at all these different products and see which one you make the most on: ok and then yeah. We build a page around that one product and just crush it with that one product and ask people buy that one product now they’re on your email list. Now you can email them this website that has a million more right. That right. There is simple, Amy super powerful and super simple, and I’m super excited be talking about this with you, because I just have a completely different view on it and how you can really go to the top quick, because yeah network marketing has been around forever, but internet Marketing, not many hasn’t even taken advantage of yet you know social media marketing.

So what what we should do first, is: let’s: let’s take that light count it what’s our budget for the like, let’s run one Facebook ad I’ll run it for you, you just pay for it. Just let me know what your budget is. What can that need to be? It could be whatever I mean you could like, for example, for every for every for every. Let’s call it a hundred bucks for every ninety-nine dollars for every $ 100.

That’s about right, yeah! That’s still the same, so those numbers are still the same. That’s how much we can always get no matter what so either we go up a thousand. We go so it’s a one-time added, I’m not going to want you to run it all. The time like, let’s run this one time, take it up as high as we need to and then we shut it off, and then we talk again on which product we want to start running.

Okay, you know so I just think you have a ton of potential because well, let’s go ahead and do the do the hundred, so we can get it up over a thousand okay perfect. So all I need you to do is just go to your. Are you actually you’re on your iPad right? Can you get to your business page can go to Facebook, yeah, okay, go to your go to your business page! Really! Quick and all I’m going to do is just request access to the page.

So I can start the ad tonight. Okay, where do I go wirdy? Where do I say or you gain us for access? Okay? So you should either get a notification here in four seconds, or do you see settings at the top so in the top right hand corner of that page? Okay, perfect! So then, if you don’t receive a notification right now, okay, I just got it perfect. So just follow that through it’s going to ask you for your password and that’s it oh gosh yeah, I know most of us don’t know it so sensi is it.

Is it mainly scented candles candles or it’s not candles? It’s wax like wax wax wax wax. So it’s the warmer, so it’s the warmers, but they also have cleaning products at products. I love it. I love it Amy, I’m going to have my wife buy a few products off for you tonight, yeah really cool oils, pods laundry. I bet this line. Diffuser, the diffuser is a big thing right now: the diffuser diffuser diffuser diffuser diffuser words that act.

It’s the mini diffuser. If you type in the search yeah right there, where you just were buying diffusers or pods. Oh got. You got you, okay, yeah man. If I am diffuser mini fan fuser, I never even heard of a mini fender. What is a mini? It’s perfect for the office, your car or anywhere there’s a USB port in just wow, and it just gives off a fragrance right. That’s amazing, yeah! It smells really cool really good.

So are these? Are these like sense and fragrance is supposed to be like healthy for you or there, it’s just a random scent. It’s just it’s just something that smells good. Well, they’re, not you know they don’t burn like the waxes and stuff. If you put your finger in it, they don’t burn, and so but they’re not like they. We do have some essential oils and stuff as well, for the regular diffusers really cool.

Well, I did. I just give it to you: let’s refresh okay, perfect, yes, so now I have access all start that at tonight and then just give me whatever card. I can use to run it either business page I can check. Is it have you changed it at all? Recently, no okay, so I should still have that same one. Then. Yes, I’ll message, you the last four digits and just confirm if that’s the right one, okay, perfect, yeah and then I’ll start that tonight and do you have any any like images like I can.

I can for sure, run it on this image right here, but if you just actually, this is a beautiful image right here. Can I run it on this on this image? Should I run it? Okay, I’m going to grab this image. I will email you a asana I’ll, send you a snapshot later on of the ad and I’m going to use this similar. Okay, that’s a perfect image, perfume, it so I’ll email you later on once we’re alive and then we’ll go from there.

Okay, perfect cool! Okay me talk to you soon, thanks David thanks, bye, bye, bye,

UI Elements at 60fps (Progressive Web App Summit 2016)

I kind of wanted to put that into a little bit of context when we talked about performance historically on our team. Last year year and a half we’ve talked about a thing called rail and rail stands for response, animation, idle and load, and it’s a way of thinking about performance that puts the user in the middle and lets us figure out what they expect from things.

So, for example, if you tap on a screen, you expect something to be coming back on screen in under a tenth of a second. If you scroll or there’s a transition, that’s an animation, and we want that at 60 frames. A second idle is a bit of a funny one, but the general idea is that you should do work when the user isn’t interacting and when there’s opportunity to do so when the main thread has some time and we do those in 50 millisecond chunks.

So we can keep responding to users and loading. You want to keep the user on their train of thought, and so you’ve got about a second to get something up on screen, whether that’s from a cache for the network. Now, when we talk about rail, this is the kind of world view. Then I think many of us have today we kind of go yeah responses. Ok, yeah! We don’t need to be lucky, that’s fair enough! It’s kind of important scrolling animation.

It definitely heard that’s a thing and that’s something I want to make sure is good idle. Yeah sure seems good load load, yes, whoo back in the safe, ok load, yeah man, if I can catenate all that good stuff, but here’s the thing this is kind of where we’re thinking of being on people’s home screens and a closer look at that home screen Raises an interesting question which of these is the progressive one up which of these is the native web app? The truth is users don’t care what they care about.

Is that the thing that they tap on works really well and they would never say something: oh wow. It skipped things there you go back would go rewind, okay, nobody ever going to say this, and if they did, it was something ice. That up looks like native. I hope it behaves like it. There you go, they expect it to behave like a native app. They expect your stuff to run. Well, I want to say, behaves there, we go hello behaves for me is like performance, and it’s about.

Does it behave as we expect? Is it do the things that you know and interact with it? Just do the right things right, since that’s the case, I think we can reevaluate rail to look more like back bad clicker more like this, the response part of rail. Well, we expect our responses to be instant like every time instant. So that’s just now more important. Animations yep they’re down there and there we go they’re going up there, because we expect again, we expect instant transitions.

We expect you know scrolling to be super smooth idle. Well now, if we’re doing more work, to make responses and animations good idle is something we’re going to have to be more tactical about we’re going to have to do some work when the user isn’t, and we have things like requests idle callback for that, so idle. Just went up good news, though I think, if you’re expecting somebody to add you to home screen and run your stuff lots of times.

Hopefully, you’re going to have a serviceworker, hopefully you’re, going to be running from a cache and therefore I think load drops down to here. I don’t think it’s unimportant. Don’t get me wrong. You still got to do a good job to get that first load there, but I think over time I think that’s what we’re talking about so, if you’re being home screen minded. I think it looks more like this and I think, if you think about the the native apps, that you run, you have a similar expectation.

You don’t ever sit there thinking about well, this APK took a long time. You know when you’re using it for the 50th time you’re thinking more about how this actually behaves, whether it’s got the features you want and so on. So with that in mind, I wanted to talk about three individual components, but they give me an excuse to talk about about a bunch of other things and I can explain, I suppose, the way I categorize my components from deterministic.

We know up front. We can hard code the values, those animations and interactions through something that’s a little bit less known upfront all the way through to something where we’ve got no idea about how it’s going to behave until somebody actually clicks on the thing, or we have a little bit Of an idea, but not much so those three components are a side, nav some swipeable cards and then expand and collapse view, let’s jump straight into the side navigation, which I think most of us I’ve seen before seen these you ever seen these quite a lot.

So what, although, for each one of these I’ll, explain the theory of how I would approach them to maintain performance and to kind of be performance minded? I will be leaving probably some glaring omissions in the area of accessibility, but just as well Bob Dodds coming on next and he’s going to talk about accessibility. Oh it all fits together wonderfully anyway, the theory for the side nav. What we’re going to do is we’re going to pop on a containing element over the top of all our content, into which we can place a semi-transparent black, a background to obscure our content and then we’re going to have this contents bit with our actual side.

Nav. In it, which will slide in from the side like so so, the CSS for something like that for that containing element, it’s going to be positioned, fixed left:0, top:0 width and height 1 %. Some people like to do write 0 bottom 0. That’s fine works just as well overflow, hidden because we don’t want any scroll bars, but the pointer events. One is a bit of an interesting side step that I want to take it lets me talk about something that’s kind of like a primed element, so these are elements where you you want that thing to be ready to go, and the sign now is one of Those because, when a user taps on the button, they expect the side nav to just come throughout right.

So the general idea behind a primed element for me is that it’s something that could be activated at any time: okay, like a side, nav yeah, it probably fits that bill and if you were to toggle its visibility, it would take more than 100 milliseconds, as in Because they’re, probably at a tap a button and you ray’ll, tells you you’ve got 100 milliseconds to respond if you take longer than that, it’s going to feel lucky.

So these are my sort of two criteria. As I say, I’m leaving a glaring omission where’s. The regards accessibility so hold on to your hats for that bit coming next, but all the same we have around on. I think this is a primed element. I think it fits and as such we can take a couple of shortcuts, one of which is we’re going to promote the content bit to its own layer and, if you’re not familiar with layer promotion.

The idea is, you want to separate out an element from the rest of the page so that when you paint it or move it around, you don’t affect any other element on the page. It’s the same kind of deal. Is you know if you are not packaged whatever you create a layer and you can mess with the pixels in it and you don’t mess with anything else now? The easiest way to do that today, to create one of these layers called a compositor layer, is to use, will change transform.

So if you imagine the simplest possible page with a photo of bald idiot and a nice guy – and you put will change onto said image now, you can move it around with a transform and you can see that it’s kind of separate from the page. Obviously, this isn’t happening in real time, but it’s it’s the idea of separating these things out now you may be sitting there thinking that seems like a great idea star.

Will change transform burn that from your mind? Okay, if I’m not clear, don’t do it! The reason you don’t wan na do it is twofold. Firstly, you’ll want to keep your memory usage down, especially on a mobile device. If you create layers you’re going to use memory, you’re going to have management you’re going to have textures on the GPU all that kind of stuff, so you want to do this as needed now with the primed element, I’m going to make the argument that you probably Want to do something like the will change in your CSS, but in other cases, where it’s not known until you start interacting, you probably do the will change in your JavaScript.

The other reason is you want to keep your time in compositing to a minimum. Compositing is where we take all those layers and we squish it back together and put the pixels up on screen now, of course, if you made lots of layers, that’s a lot of depth, sorting, it’s a lot of management, and it’s a lot of putting back together That takes time, so you want to be tactical about this, so we’ve got our promoted layer and, as you can see in the CSS I’m going to put will change transform on it like so and then come back, then yeah I’m going to transform the contents off To the left, by a oddly specific 102 percent and if you’re curious about that is because I’ve got a shadow, and I just do an extra couple of percent to hide it, cheating, but that’s programming.

You know it’s just cheating right sometimes and I’m a cheat when it comes to programming, I’m very, very, not otherwise, especially not when playing little games with my kids, I’m very fair, never cheap anyway. Eventually, the user is going to tap on a button and that’s going to show the side nav, which in this case is just going to add a class in that class, is going to remove that 102 percent fairly straightforward.

And we get something like this, where it slides in from the side that semi-transparent black black background is the same kind of deal here. We’re going to do a will change of opacity from an opacity value of 0 to an opacity value of 1 and getting rid of it like so it’s just going to be the same in Reverse, we’re just going to remove that class. Everything goes back. It’s great and we could just do that, but it’s like hide side nav, which I put on the containing element.

So if you click anywhere, I’m going to hide the side nav, which is a bit bad, if you actually click on something in the side nav. So the way to get around, that is, to just add an extra handler for that particular situation, which cancels the click which is just a stopped propagation, so I’m kind of canceling the click and it works out really well, in fact so well, this is what it Looks like in reality, this is one that Surma and I built.

This is actually running on a nexus 5x and you can see you know slide out slide in. I actually added a bit of drag thing to it, which you can see if you want to afterwards. When you take a profile of this in the dev tools timeline, which is kind of what you want to be doing with all your UI elements, I have the side nav sliding in and sliding out, which doesn’t look very big. So, let’s zoom in you can see that green chunk is the frames per second and we’re hitting a nice comfy 60 frames a second on our Nexus 5x and below.

It is the amount of work frame which is pretty low because we’re not doing much we’re just using transform changes if you’re interested in seeing that actually being built for real there’s the TL DW and is also a live stream, which was about an hour long with Me and Surma, where we built the side, nav books and everything it was great, but you can catch that if you, if you haven’t seen it so, let’s move on since we’ve done the essentially done the fully deterministic hundred and two percent, nothing.

We can move on to this swipeable card, which is a little more interactive, a little more dynamic. So that’s this one you’ve seen it probably some that Google, now you know just ours and it slides up to take its place. The theory here is again. We want to promote to a layer for the thing that’s being interacted with, but we want to do that on demand. We don’t want to do this one ahead of time, because if you had a lot of cards, that’s a lot of layers and a lot of memory usage, not a good idea.

We also want to use transform and opacity as well, because we’re going to transform this thing off to the side and from a kind of behavioral point of view. If we want it to fade out, because that gives the idea of being dismissed, it’s it kind of something the user would expect now. At this point, I want to take a little bit of a detour and talk about kind of game loopy stuff, which is something that any game developer would be like yeah and it’s extremely useful in this situation.

What we want to do in these kind of cases is decouple our input, which can happen fairly, sporadically and whatever, from the actual rendering and drawing you bit. We should expect from a game because your character stood there. You don’t want to you know you want the kind of game to keep moving, even when you’re not moving the character right same kind of thing. We want this animation to keep going, even when we’re not actually doing touch.

Events, for example, and the way we do that is, we call requestanimationframe for every frame of the interaction and we’ll give it our update function, which you know the nice side effect, gives us a function that we can just call to be like just draw it. Even when there’s nothing else going on now, we’ve got a touch move at the start of the frame. Well, that’s, okay, we’ll just use it will distort its value and we’ll pick it up in the requestanimationframe.

If it comes in a little bit late or it doesn’t come in at all no big deal, we’ll just use the last known good value. If, by some weird weird chance, we actually got two or more well again we’re not doing work per input event we’re the only going to do it once per frame and we’re just going to use the last known good value, that’s good. So this is a model that you probably want to adopt. If you haven’t already for this kind of work now we get to the actually to adding the event listeners and fair enough, I’m going to share them between Mouse and touch.

I think pointer events might help a little bit here, but you know I’ve got this so touchstart touchmove touchend, so on and as a side note, the adding of these touch handlers to the document is bad. Generally speaking and the reason it’s bad is this: really? You have on the compositor thread, which gets the user touch. It’s the one that actually is told about the interaction first and by default. It would do something like scrolling.

It would just move the page up and down, but we registered a touch move, and that involves the main thread and if the main thread was busy or our touch move, just ran for a long time. For some reason, then, eventually to come back and the frame will be shipped, but in between that we’ve blocked the user oops. So that’s not as good, and there is a way around this it’s new as of I believe, chrome, 51 and it’s in opera and Firefox.

It’s in development, according to Chrome status, same with WebKit, but this is encyclopedia large, obviously, and I’m not sure about age. I can check with the folks on that team. However, what we do is we add this passive, true to the event listener. One that says is, I won’t call prevent default, I’m not going to do it. So don’t worry about waiting on me in order to do the thing you’re going to do still give me the events and give me the information, but I’m not going to prevent default.

Okay and then the browser goes cool. I won’t block then I’ll just get on with it. That’s great. So, anyway, back to where we were. We have our event listeners and we talked about what they are going to do. For example, we have this card, it’s in the start exposition. So what we’ll do is tapped on it we’ll go to our on start, which is going to basically ask for the position which lie to be paychecks or the first touch.

Events, page X and then we’ll add, will change on it dynamically, which will give us a bit of a hit because we have to create the layer and everything. But it’s probably going to be. Ok. Probably now you actually move your finger across and we have to category in what’s the new position, which is fairly straightforward, it’s the same kind of deal. We just tracked the page X or the first touch events page X and since we know where we were and where we are, we can figure out what the translation should be, such that in our update function.

We can say if you’re dragging the card, your translation is the current minus the start and what we will do is we will apply a transform with that value. Great stuff, that’s going to work, we’re going to be able to slide across. We can change the opacity and the same in the same kind of way, but we now need to think about the next part, which is I’m kind of dismissing the card right or I don’t go far enough and it comes back to the middle so kind of This is the behavioral bit, so if we consider a normalized distance, so it’s at 0.

If it was out to the side, we could say that’s position 1 or back in the other way. That’s also position 1. All we can do is we can come to throat. These thresholds, I put them in 0.35, when I was doing this, you could pick naught point 3, 6 or something else entirely. It’s very exciting. What will I choose today? Who knows that’s web dev, so I put an all point three five and if you don’t know, Pratt’s, not point three, five, I’m going to slide back to the middle.

If you do go past, not point three, five, I’m going to dismiss the card fair enough. Okay, so that’s in the the on end, like so oh yeah, threshold card width times by not 0.35, and it’s is this – is this target x value which we’re going to come on to in a moment it’s defaulting to zero? If you go past the threshold, we’re going to choose, either the card width or card with, depending on which direction you were going okay, and we can pick that up in the the else here, where we say translate x, plus equals target X minus translate X, all Over four and if you’ve been around for a while – and it done this kind of work – you probably recognize this if you haven’t very exciting little one-liner, that is incredibly helpful when you want to do what I call the easiest easing in the world or easy inning Easy takes always takes this form.

Okay, it’s value plus equals target value all over strength, and I genuinely have made other developers like memorize that, because it’s incredibly helpful, let me show you what I mean worked. Example. Let’s say you want to get this box from zero to a hundred and you basically target value. So it’s 100 zero all over strength, which is four we’ll move. It 25 pixels cool on the next iteration. It’s a hundred minus 25, which is 75 all over the strength, which is four, that’s 18 point, seven five and, as you build it up, you’re going to see that it’s going to slow down because there’s a nice kind of slowdown easing feel for this, so that Your box would go mmm sound effects, not included okay.

So that’s this one line, but it’s an incredibly helpful line. It’s either than that users back to zero, which can ease us to the card dismissal point now we need to detect doneness. There’s no better word for what we’re doing here. Is this animation done? Can I say that we’re finished with this? Okay? The way we do that is well, it’s either you go there and back to the middle, fair enough, in which case we can just say.

Are you nearly at the start? If so, yeah you’re probably done I’ll work that’ll get us most of the way there. If you are just reset the target allow the user to interact again. Other one is basically, you slide. You’ve done the slide out to the side like so, and we also know that we’re going to fade out the card. So I mean this is pretty cheeky, but we can just ask: is the opacity really really low if it is it’s nearly invisible? If it’s nearly invisible, it’s going, it’s going going gone and, in fact gone so much that we’re going to remove it from the Dom with remove child like so now that will cause all the other cards to jump up immediately, because the Dom yeah we took our Element until the other ones went full cool, there’s some space, let’s take it, which we don’t want.

We want them to animate. We have this function. That says, is what there’s and it looks like this. You know that kind of slide up there. You go. That’s the thing you want, so what we do is in our animator the cards into position. What we’re going to do is we’re just going to ask for the current card and we’re going to step through all the remaining ones like so and we’re just going to. Basically, push them down straight down by a cards height, so you go back down to where you were.

Please just ignore the fact that we just removed a card. You stay where you are, and then what we’re going to do is we’re going to wait a frame for that to take hold because styles will run after the end of our JavaScript cool and then what we’ll do is we’ll switch on a transition on transforms and We’ll get rid of it and that’ll cause all the cars to go and that’ll look great cool, and then, when we’re done, we can reset the target and in reality this is what it looks like.

This is another one that server and I built again. It took an hour there were bugs weird, so you go slide swipe it’s great. If you have two timeline and you were to take a recording of that again zoom in and it’s actually in two parts, this one the left-hand bit is the car dismiss. What are you doing slides? Don’t do that to me. I maybe it’s me and Jake. Maybe maybe we just there’s something bad going on, I’m blaming Jake.

It was all fine until Jake came on stage and everything broke for him. Interesting coincidence. Yes, so the car dismissal. That’s right there and then there’s the other bit here, which is sliding the card and you see, there’s a little dip at the start and that’s because that layer, promotion of there’s a bit of layer promotion, but the kind of setting up of those card animations did Cost us a little bit so, if you’re interested in nine, you want to see that one built.

What are you doing seriously? Okay, if you want to see that one built there’s a TL DW, there’s an hour-long livestream that you can catch of that one as well. So I football cards right. We can move on areas, I’m just going to stand around here. Okay, the exponent collapse is the final one and it’s the one. That is the kind of fully dynamic one, because you could pick any of those cards. They could be anywhere on screen and okay, in this case, in the mobile case, they might do a full screen takeover, but they might not.

They might just expand a little bit or something like that. We don’t really know ahead of time. We can’t hard-code those values and if we try it’s going to be pretty horrible, so how do we handle this situation? Well, the theory for this one is going to be a little more involved, but that’s fun. When I get something like this from a designer or I do it myself, I kind of read it over and over and over again it’s a thrilling few minutes.

But it’s a useful few minutes because it’ll as you kind of read something over and over again, your brain starts to notice the patterns and the patterns here are in this case. I think that thing is, is getting bigger and it’s moving. Yes, there’s the pink head a bit, that’s fading in, but predominately this is about a movement, it’s getting wider and taller and it’s moving and therefore I would normally go wow that feels like a width, height left in top moment.

Great, that’s probably what I would animate, except that that would be bad and the reason it would be bad is that in every browser you would trigger layout with a purple chunk at the top. There paint and composite layout is basically where the browser says. Where is every element? It’s basically a geometric process. Where is the remote element? Every element, what is its size and so on paint is where we fill in pixels and compositing is where we put the page back together all those layers.

Now, if you’ve got to do that for every single frame, when you might have a reasonable size that Dom you’re in trouble, you don’t want to be able to do under have to do this work on every single frame. Chances of getting 60 frames. A second slim to none – you may have noticed that I use transforms an awful lot and the reason it is their profile is different for an element. That’s got its own compositor layer.

Changing a transform is not going to trigger layout and it’s not going to trigger paint. It should only trigger compositing, which is something that we can probably get done comfortably at 60 frames a second, so this then changes the question to look like this. Can we do that effect with transforms? Can we remap this slow-mo? Can we do that with a transform? Well to me that looks like a scale and it looks like a translation cool.

My approach is called flip all right, so that’s the first last invert and play because there aren’t enough acronyms okay, so I’m adding another one cool, but it’s an extremely useful way to think about the animation. What we want to do is we want to essentially ask the question at room type. Where is the element that I’m interacting with so we record its first position on screen and we do that with something like get bounding, client rect, which is fun to say and has been around since ie for lint.

And it will tell you in relation to the viewport, where this element is its left, its height, its top its right, its bottom, all the stuff that we need to know know what we can do is we can actually snap the element in question out to its Final position, I’m doing this for the class. We could have manipulate the Styles. You could do whatever you need to do so now our card is going to be in its last position like so, and we can call get bounding, client rect a second time.

So now we know where you were now now. We know where you’re going to be that’s cool. That means we can start to kind of figure out our transforms that we might need dynamically. Now there is a word of warning here. Going from first to last is going to trigger styles and layout and the reason it’s going to trigger styles and layout is because the second gets bounding, client rect came after some style mutation.

We said: here’s a new class for you or here’s, some style changes, and then we asked for how wide and how high and where are you on screen and the browser goes. I don’t know you just moved everything hang on. Let me go and figure it out and I’ll come back with an answer and that’s exactly what happens. So you got to bear in mind that there’s the from this first class, I mean you might be sitting there going hang on a minute.

I’r sure you said trigger in layout was bad and I did, but the key is here: we’re not going to do it on every single frame. There are two things we need to bear in mind, one we’re going to do it once at the start, as a set up cost. Secondly, we have rail, which is going to be our friend here, bear in mind the user tapped on a card to get the animation. Therefore, in rail terms there here, we have a tenth of a second in which to respond.

We have a tenth of a second in which we can do some work and believe me, a tenth of a second is actually quite a long time, especially when it comes to this kind of work. It’s great. We should use it and we do so. When it comes to rail and flip, you can typically afford to do a single styles and layout. Pass then seriously one, but that’s cool. That’s often enough and in terms of flip, that’s a good set up time.

You’ll still need it to complete in less than 100 milliseconds, so you kind of have to be aware of how big the DOM is and if you’re able to use something like CSS containment to limit the scope of layout and paint. You should definitely do that and that’s really useful. However, we knew where we work. That was first, we know where we are that’s last and now we can transform. What we’ll do is we’ll just basically apply an inverse transform to take us back to here.

We can do that so first left, you know blah blah blah. Do that with a scale, apply a transform that uses those values. So at this point, we’ve done first last an invert – and it’s like this. So if I was the top on the card Ready, Steady, Go there, you go from the users point of view. Nothing happened. What’s really happening. Is this going first last and then we’re inverting and it feels like a lot of setup cost and it kind of is, but it gives us a huge advantage, because what we can do now is switch on transition on transforms and remove that transform and our card Will just go, we didn’t know where it was bit the stuff.

We didn’t hard code it we just said: where are you going? Where are you now I’ll figure out the transform and I’ll apply it for you, we’ve just most a remaps, something there was width, height, left and top, which wouldn’t have run at 60 frames. A second do something that definitely will hopefully all being well caveat. So because there’s always those if you’ve got some scale changes that are being applied.

They something like text, let’s say, you’re, doing something flipped like when you got something with text inside that might get squashed or stretched. So you might need to move the content to a sibling element so that it’s not affected and then just have faded in or something like that, but a sleight-of-hand. You might need to do that bit of gymnastics, but it’s well worth it like. I said the first to last does involve forcing Styles and layout, so you have to be careful with that, but this is what it looks like in reality there.

This is a little kind of expanded collapse, e-card thing, which you know that’s running on our Nexus 5x, and this screen doesn’t make a look at like it’s. 60 frames a second, but it is, and I can prove it because I’ve got timelines that show it and you can see it I’ll show you it’s great. It’s also responsive design friendly, like I said, we’re going to ask at room time what the first position is and what the last position is.

We don’t we don’t hard-code those values, which means the same animation on desktop, looks like this different position: different sizes, but still the same stuff, and this is what it looks like in timeline – will zoom in again to the top bit, and you see the dip at The start – and you see, there’s a red markers – that’s they’ve tools telling you your frames per second dipped below the comfortable point of 60, but we know that that was the setup of flipped.

That was the first lesson invert, which, on a nexus 5x on this case, was about 40 milliseconds. After that that is a steady, 60 frames, a second afterwards tremendous cool. I get to call this one a day in a moment. Some closing thoughts. You’ve noticed probably that I use will change, and I would suggest that you start doing that. If you haven’t already for elements that you intend to animate, you need to decide.

Is this thing primed? If so, I’m going to probably put the will change into my CSS. If not, I need to do it on demand, probably via JavaScript, but you want to use it sparingly, don’t go overboard. Transform and opacity are your best friends. When it comes to UI elements, running performant ly. I hope in the future to be able to say that you can get away with a lot more and actually we are heading for that world with things like Jeep, GPU, rasterization, CSS containment, lots of really good things that might help us limit the work, and I Mean that we can do more, but for today for the cross browser story, I would suggest that you stick here.

If you find yourself in the kind of dynamic and then something like flip, where you can remap expensive properties calculate your transforms at runtime is very useful. Now follow that’s news to you and you’ve never come across like layout, recalc style or anything here are some links, inbound phones out, don’t worry, you can get the slides afterwards as well. Other phones went down, don’t care anymore.

There’s the Google web fundamentals render performance section complete with Udacity course, which will take you through the same kind of content, very useful to get up to speed. Secondarily, if you want the source code for those elements, I showed you can get that at the supercharge. Do I wish to take you to the github repo? If you want to see me and Surma, where sermo basically spends an hour interrupting me and I try and code it’s like real life.

There are bugs as well. It’s just it’s every time. I don’t when it’s scary, but brilliant and there’s a TL DW, which is like five minutes. If you ever got that on that time right, I need to shut up and move on, but before I do, I just want to say this again. We are hopefully going to be here. This is the first time we’ve been invited to people’s home screens. That is incredibly exciting, but it’s also a huge responsibility.

We need to act like we deserve to be there, and that means taking a user interface work super seriously. The web is ready for us to do that. We can do that today with the tech. I’ve shown that you can. I hope that you go and give it a try, and with that I’ll say, thank you very much. You
