Emails continue to be an important and effective way to reach people, especially prospective customers for the products and services your internet marketing business promotes, but the format of emails requires you to work a little harder to gain somebody’s trust.
Today we are going to look at some techniques you can use within the body of your promotional emails to make them connect better with your customers. So it is easier for them to follow your call to action whatever it may be. The body of the email, the body of your promotional emails, needs to be as concise and, to the point is possible. Remember the average person gets dozens of emails in their inbox.
Every day, if they open yours at all, they will probably junk it if it is packed with dense copy and long drawn-out sentences. Most people scan rather than read emails, so you want to use short sentences or even brief phrases or bullet points whenever possible. This makes it easier for your reader to capture the essence of your message as quickly as possible, using attachments and links the biggest selling point of email over most other communication methods, such as texting or instant messaging, is its ability to attach documents such as Word files.
Audio files, articles slideshows and others these can be attached to the email using the attached files function when the recipient gets. The email attachments will be listed both under the header and beneath the text copy. When the email is opened by your reader, clicking on either will open the attachment on a separate page, including links with an email content within the body of your email. You also can include links to web pages addresses and other locations when the reader clicks on these links, they bring the reader to your intended destination.
A word of warning. It is very important to double check to make sure your attachments and links work properly, test them before sending out your emails to make sure they work. There is no faster way to lose a prospective customer event to forget an attachment or a link that does not work emoticons in there uses emoticons are those little smiley faces that can be inserted into the body of your email, depending on your intended audience.
Emoticons can be either light-hearted and entertaining or unprofessional and distracting. When you talk to somebody face-to-face, you can use gestures and body language to provide nonverbal meanings. Sometimes emoticons can be helpful substitutes for these nonverbal cues. So then the question becomes: should you use emoticons? A good rule of thumb is to avoid or be very cautions when using emoticons in business communications.

Com.Au and I amber Mailchimp partner Today, I’m going to cover a very effective email campaign design, that’s simple, to create and converts First just to show that other major organizations use the same layout. Let me show you some examples. First off: let’s look at Disney. This is a recent Disney email campaign that I received I’ll just go through very quickly. What I’m seeing So I’m seeing the logo an image text button.
So typically our email doesn’t contain the full story. We give people a teaser. A few lines of text and we then have a button or a call to action that they go somewhere else, And this is what we would call a newsletter, because it’s more than one story For many organizations, just one article or one story on an email is Sufficient but let’s go back again So we’ve got here and please notice that it’s not full width either.
This email, So logo image text, button, image, text, button, image, text, button, Okay, and this is Disney a very big organization. Let’s look at Toyota, So this is Toyota. Australia sent me this this email There’s quite a bit going on, but but I’ll just show you how it’s very similar to that Disney one that we looked at in layout. So we’ve got logo and I’ll ignore this bit. So logo heading text, button image, They’ve, dropped the image down below and in the separate article I’ll cover.
Why they’ve done this and it’s a great idea? So logo header text button image and then they’ve got more than one story, so they continue with header text button image and it carries on and on and on So they just repeat what they’re doing Now: single-column it’s not even full width, but this is very typical. So the more you look at them, whether they’re, those Uber emails or whatever you receive you’ll notice, this exact layout, where it is logo, heading text, button image, But the image can be up or down, But let’s go into Mailchimp and I’ll.
Show you how to create this very quickly: You’ll notice that I’m in the campaign section or the campaign builder section of Mailchimp, So I’m going to click “, create campaign” to create an email campaign, I’m creating an email campaign, I’m creating a “, regular, campaign” and I’ll. Just name it I could call this anything. I want to and I’ll click “ begin”, I’m not going to use a template. What I’ll actually do is create this using a Mailchimp layout which works really well and then in the future.
I can just copy the campaign and it’ll retain my layout and so on. So I would of course start at the top and work my way down, but for this demo I’m going to click “, design, email” And again, I’m not going to use a saved template. I’r going to use this basic one column template So I’ve clicked on that. I’r in the email campaign builder. I would add my logo at the top. So let me build the blocks Mailchimp’s included in the layout some default blocks, but for now I’ll just show you that I can I’ll just delete the social blocks and there’s actually another horizontal line there, which I’ll just click delete to delete that So those ones we Looked at Disney Toyota logo and then typically, they had an image So logo, image text, Sorry, logo, image, heading text and then we’ll just drag and drop the button across here and there we go Now.
If we had more than one story, we would just copy that that will replicate them and that and honestly that’s the same as the Disney we saw. It really is again logo image text button, but we’ve added a header in there, which is a good idea as well So again in the future. What we can do is we would create our email email campaign, send that and in the future, we’ll just replicate it copy it, and it already has our logo.
It already has the layout and so on Nice and simple, and it’s what the organizations that are getting great results with email marketing are doing. Thank you for joining me.
It doesn’t matter what business you’re in, but it’s the most important system that you can put into place for your business. I remember when I first started and I heard about email marketing I kept thinking. I don’t want to write letters to people and I don’t want to take time to do that and I don’t want to blog and all this stuff and in as I went on my journey in in creating my company and building it.
I realized that that is the most important aspect. Actually, that’s where all the sales take place, because in that email sequence that you have sent out to your customers, you have built a relationship and they have grown to like you know you and trust you, and that is why it’s more effective. Did you know that 34 percent of people worldwide have used email and that’s like 2.5 billion people? Think about it? Do you know anybody that doesn’t have an email account? There aren’t very many people, while the the rate of using email is going up in the business industry as its declining for personal use.
People are still using it for business, so people are still looking for those sales that they get from different stores or for content and information on different companies that they’ve subscribed to. So they expect to see those types of emails in their inbox and they’re looking for them. They have the option to unsubscribe. So if you’re providing something that they’re not interested in, then they can unsubscribe.
So that’s what makes it pretty cool you don’t have to harass or spam people, and I’m going to give you seven reasons why you need to get an email account setup. First of all, you own it, you own, the customers that are on your email list. Now what I mean by this, let’s use an example of Facebook groups versus an email marketing system – that’s put into place in your email or Facebook group. You could have 10,000 20,000 30,000 followers, which is phenomenal, and maybe your have built your business to the point where you can just offer something and talk about it, maybe you’re doing affiliate marketing and right away.
You make $ 25,000 in sales. I’ve seen people do that and that that’s why Facebook groups are so awesome, but Facebook can also come along and take that group away from you. They can shut you down for any reason they want. You can try to fight it, but you have no power. You have no control and getting that back. You have no list of names when you do an email list, you have collected emails from all of your potential customers and, you might say yeah there with an autoresponder like activecampaign or Aweber, or something like that.
How am I supposed to own it? Well, you can export that list of names and then have a backup system where you put them on a Google Drive or something like that. So if that company, that software company, the autoresponder shuts down, you still have those names and you can go off and start using a different autoresponder and import those same names right into the list. I also recommend, if you understand what email marketing is to keep a list of your sequence, the emails that you’ve created, don’t only put them in the autoresponder, but keep a keep a copy of everything.
Just in case something happens and you’ve got it all that work. You don’t want to lose it all right, so you own that list. You can take it with you now you might be in multi-level marketing and you have a business built up with your company. That company can shut down for various reasons, maybe things that are beyond their control. You who have built an email Act was at lists on the side. Can once that company shuts down, you can go back to your customers and share your story and tell them that this multi-level marketing company has shut down.
You know, but we have other options and I’ve done some research, and this is something I found instead, maybe you’re in the health care industry and you everybody loves the shakes that that company provided – and you found another company that is equal or better and hey guys, Follow me here and they will, because they they’ve learned to know you like you and trust you, so you can bring that those people with you wherever you go or maybe you just decide to get into a different business.
It’s amazing how that list is yours and will stay with you now number two, it’s more effective than social media for customer acquisition, people who use emails and build that relationship with people through that email sequence are more likely to build that person into a customer than If they only use a Facebook group – and I’m not saying Facebook groups are bad at all, I know people are very very successful.
They’ve got lucrative businesses there, but think about this. Facebook again has control with all the posts that you make not every single one of your twenty thousand followers are going to see what you’re posting, when you send an email out to twenty thousand people, that the percentage of people are actually going to read it or Higher because you have a little bit more control, you’re, sending it directly to their email account and hopefully most of them go into the inbox, and there are different strategies you can use, which is another training on trying to make sure that they go into the inbox.
Where they’re supposed to go all right number three is economic and cost effective. It is very cost effective to use email. Think of the other strategies you can use to acquire customers. You can use snail mail, you can send out bulk mail in you know you at the United States Post Office the old-fashioned way you can run ads and magazines. You can run ads on Facebook. You can put something in a newspaper.
You could have telemarketing. All of those other ways are going to cost you more money than if you just hit a button and send it to your entire list. It’s so much more cost effective. So much more, it’s easier and it’s actually automated and once you put somebody into a sequence, they just keep getting the emails that you have built. That system that you have put into place. They just keep getting them and you sit back and let the system do the work.
So it’s actually a lot easier as well number, four, its personable personable, personal and customizable, and what I mean by personal. You have the ability to actually put a person’s name on that letter. I know that in the email world email marketing world, we call a newsletter, but you don’t really want it to be like a newsletter, the old way that you would think of it like a little newspaper ad.
You want it to be more of a letter to that person, and so you can be more personal in that letter. You can tell stories about yourself and why. You know how you came to the conclusion that what you’re offering them works and why it’s better than such-and-such you may offer to embed articles that you have made so that they can get more information. You can also tag them according to their interest or according to a purchases they’ve made.
So here I have a sequence that I’ve started. Everybody goes in it once adorned throughout this same sequence, but then I can tag them. Let’s say somebody purchases a course that I made well, I’m not going to keep telling them about my course. So they’re going to go off onto another sequence and I’ll start talking about something else. Okay, they’ve got the course that I’ve offered now they can start building their business and looking at such-and-such.
Instead, maybe I have I know about different interests that my different customers in my list have. Some of them want to are interested in affiliate marketing. Some of them are only listed interested in email marketing. Well, I’m not going to talk about affiliate marketing with people that aren’t interested in it. If that makes sense, even though the affiliate marketers need the email marketing, it doesn’t work the same the other way.
So I can really customize my list and my message to my clients and you just get better at it. You start out with just general lists, but then the more you grow your list and the more you take the time to get to know them. The more you can be customized that list to their interest and to what they’ve purchased number five its action-oriented you can trigger your list, like. I just said that if somebody purchases something you can trigger that person to go off onto another list that you’ve made, you can go in later and do special campaigns.
Let’s say: you’ve got everybody running through your sequence and you’ve got all your tags in there and things like that, but maybe down the road. Maybe a year after you’ve started your email sequencing system. Maybe you created a course on Facebook Ads. Maybe you started really researching something like that and you’ve grown in your skills, and maybe you created a course that you’re selling you could do a campaign and only talk about that course and then only send it to people that you think would benefit from it.
A brand new person who’s, just getting their feet wet, probably doesn’t have to need to hear a lot about Facebook ads and and everything that goes into it because it can get overwhelming. So you have the ability to do that. It’s proven that action-oriented emails are much more effective than a simple newsletter, so you always ask them to do something, and it could be as simple as like. Hey comment below you know which one of these three different autoresponders do you like best or you could do a polling or you could do a little survey and things like that within your emails, which is kind of cool number, six, I’m losing my track.
There number six, it’s measurable. If you sent out emails or mail in bulk mail, like US Postal Service, you don’t have any way to measure what happened to that those letters or even if you do a Facebook ad there’s you have some analytics, but not like you. Do in an email sequence you can run analytics. You can get statistics on how many people opened your email. You can get statistics on how many people actually clicked the link inside and did the action that you asked them to do, and you can also find out how many people unsubscribe.
If you have a high rate of unsubscribers from one particular email, you might go back and look at that and say whoa did. I say something in that email that offended people – or maybe I didn’t give enough content or something like that or maybe you’re noticing. Halfway down a lot of people stopped clicking, there’s just different things that you can see. You can measure your business and measure what’s happening in the emails and last but not least, you can do a B splitting you could send the exact same email out with two different subject lines and see which one works better.
Sometimes it’s not the content. It’s the fact that they didn’t click in and read it because the subject line wasn’t catchy enough and didn’t pique their curiosity where they wanted to go in. But you have the ability to do that and see which one works better. So those are seven reasons, or that was six and there’s seven. That was seven reasons I want to give you one more actually a little bonus, one most people when they look at their emails are sitting on a mobile device.
This is just a big huge benefit. Think of yourself, when you’re sitting in the doctor’s office or you’re sitting waiting for your kids game or something like that, most people go right to their device that they’re holding right in their hand their phone and those emails are popping in on that device. So you’re you’ve got that benefit as well. If you did all those other things that I talked about, they’re not going to be right there in right in front of them all the time like emails are so that’s another benefit of using email.
Marketing is the device of the way that we can send it to people all right. So that’s seven different reasons, plus a bonus of why email marketing is important and why you need it for your business and I’m my personal opinion is number one was the most important reason you own your customers. I can’t stress that enough because, like I said I just readed a couple that had been making six figures a month in their business, their Facebook account got shut down.
Now that this particular couple had different revenues of income set up, they didn’t rely on just one. So it didn’t shut their business down, but they definitely lost a huge avenue of income by that Facebook group being shut down, so you own it and that’s what’s important about it. Now, if you’re not utilizing automated email on the back end for all that traffic, that comes through your store, then quite frankly, you’re wasting a ton of money on what you went ahead and acquired now. Yes, you have all that data from your advertising, but, quite frankly, you also have these emails, whether it’s through abandoned carts or purchases, that you can leverage to increase your sales on your store with absolute ease.
So with that being said, I’m going to walk you guys through the principles as to how all of this works and the basic automated funnels that you can go ahead and set up to make sure that you’re not doing this day in and day out and breaking Your back trying to make sure that your emails are up to point when all this could very well be automated a lot of people, overcomplicate, email marketing. Quite frankly, it’s one of the biggest mistakes to go ahead and look away from it.
Just because you think it’s complicated because in this article I’m going to even give you my free email templates that you can plug and play to make sure that you’re doing this all properly. You want to make them feel welcomed and build that connection now. Email marketing is one of the most important touch points that you should be incorporating into your business, because there are a lot of things that you can go ahead and do through the post purchase process. You do things such as educate them on the product that they just purchased, give them some sort of tutorial on how to use it and build up that perceives value and excite them to actually receive their order.
Second, you can also reduce their buyer’s remorse. I know that there’s a lot of people reading this article right now or I’ve done it myself, I’ll confess to it. There have been plenty of times where I’ve purchased something online and then a few days later, I’m wondering did I really need this or should I have really purchased this, and what you can do here is send those post purchase emails to begin to inform them and Let them know rest assured that their products on the way and that’s what they should be excited for it or even offer them a discount or welcome to your community by giving them some sort of education or value to your actual business.
Now this can be any sort of medium of content, maybe a article, a blog post, a tutorial on how to use your products and so on so forth to make sure that they actually feel welcomed and that they’re actually building a connection with your brand. Now. This is going to allow you to go ahead and build the longevity of your brand and gain a higher LTV out of your customers, which is a lifetime value of your customers, meaning that there’s a higher chance that they’ll come back and purchase more products from your Store, rather than just that, simple one-time sale and that’s one of the big advantages that we have over people that are selling on Amazon is that you could simply go ahead and find one customer that could purchase from you over and over again.
Whereas Amazon, you don’t get to build that relationship in connection with your customers and build a brand that is to last a long time. You can only live off of one-off sales for so long and supplementing your sales with repeat. Customers is one of the most valuable things that you can do to build a real sustainable business online. So, second, we’re going to talk about abandoned cart emails, which is how you can go ahead and regain lost sales if you’re, just letting your abandoned, cart, sit there or you’re.
Sending basic Shopify generated, abandoned, cart, emails you’re, simply not doing enough and not trying enough to actually regain that sale. Now, some people maybe didn’t want to pay shipping, or they got distracted and didn’t get to complete their order whatever it may be. You want to make sure that that is a personalized email, making sure that they are ready to go ahead and close that sale and the best and easiest way possible.
So in this article, once we go ahead and jump into my computer, I’m going to walk you through exactly how to set up a successful, abandoned, cart funnel, which is going to be super super important for people that are losing sales on the checkout page. So with that being said, let’s go ahead and dive into my computer right now. We’re also going to be diving, some other fundamentals, in addition to the stuff that we just talked about, such as sending flash broadcast emails to make sure that you’re spiking up your sales on times that are potentially down for your ads and also how to go ahead.
And set up dynamic, high converting emails, rather than generic emails that you may send every other day and stuff that might break your back because, quite frankly, all of this should be automated. You shouldn’t be going into your Shopify dashboard, pulling out your customers and sending them emails through your personal email account every day, because it’s just stupid and it’s wasting your time and money.
This should be automated stuff that is literally plug-and-play, so that once customers go through your funnels and go through your store that you have everything set up to maximize the value of every single store visitor with your business. You know test funnel one and then just give it a random description wherever you want, but most importantly, we want to focus on the triggers. So this is what starts an email sequence for your customers, based on the actions that you’re taking within your store.
So we have product purchase, we have product refund and also cart abandonment. These are the three primary ones that we have right now and also in the coming week. We’re going to be able to go ahead and send emails and create new triggers based on newsletters and also the minimum amount of money that certain customers have spent on your store or the LTV of your customers. So, for example, if someone has spent over a hundred dollars on your store and the entire duration of them being an existing customer, then they’re going to be put into a unique email series themselves.
And, of course, you could go ahead and customize that amount to set up to whatever you want to be able to be essentially a value threshold that will go ahead and send these customers an email based on what they’re doing, and you can go ahead and mark It to them accordingly, so for this example, we’re going to go ahead and just do a basic cart, abandonment, email and you could go ahead and even move forward with actually segmenting that specific, funnel with the specific products that you want, the funnel to be built for, But in this case we’re going to go ahead and do any product and we’re going to create a new email list so that we know every one that goes out and abandons cart is going to be on their own email list in our store.
So with that being said, we have that set up now we want to go ahead and build an email for that funnel. So let’s go ahead and build our drag-and-drop email with mail funnel. So this going to be our AC number one round description.
