I did some research and it’s interesting, because emotional design is one of those things that not that many people have been talking about. So I actually they do mention it briefly, but I thought it was very interesting that it’s been a while, since a book came out and so on and so forth. So I actually guided myself with a book that I’ll be talking about a lot today by Aaron, Walter and I’ll.
Give him all the credit, but i’ll point you two very important sections of it. So, let’s start okay, so um, that’s the book. I was just telling you about. The first thing I want to mention is that I always find myself talking about the Industrial Revolution and some of you so my speech back in Tokyo X in Manchester, but I find it so important to think about where we come from them. The journey we’ve taken us as human beings, exact especially in this new era of technology, so um the the work.
The last time I was on this stage for you x for good. I talked about the Industrial Revolution and the actual role that they play for children and what it is to be a child in this third era or fourth area of the Industrial Revolution people still debating. If the Internet of Things is the fourth error. But in order to introduce this concept of emotional design, I would like to refer to the first chapter and I’m going to refer to a lot to this book of our own Walter call emotional, I’m designing for emotions, so he talks about revolution.
Something lost something found there. We go alright with the ability of mud too much produce almost anything. A skilled craftsman like blacksmiths and Weaver’s could no longer complete compete with factories, low-cost and faster production. So back in the age of the Industrial Revolution, the founders of the axon crafts movement started to think about this and realize that a craftsman leaves a bit of themselves in the work and it is a true gift that can be enjoyed for many many years.
So if, if we were to think about this, what does it mean to be able to mass-produce everything? So nowadays we have sites such at sea and Kickstarter that are empowering artists and crafts. People to get give that gift again to be able to kind of complete with that compete with those must produce products that we buy on a day-to-day basis. So how many you, how many of you have bought products from etsy? Ok, cool! That’s about! Barely a five percent, so how many of you have ever back up a Kickstarter? Okay, I would say another more like a ten percent okay.
So how did it make you feel um? Can I guess that it make? You feel a little bit different than just going on Amazon, or maybe just I don’t know what would be the equivalent of Kickstarter amazon right. So so I just kind of want to bring that into mine. It all comes back to that. So can I guess that it make you feel good compared to just going to Amazon, not that I’m picking no mames on today’s, so what you did by by backing a Kickstarter or or going to etsy, was to support creative thinking and supporting families.
To contrast, supporting corporations so Aaron explains that etsy on Kickstarter phenomenon is an opportunity to be able to leave bring these stories to life, to have an object that actually has a story behind. So it is very interesting thing to start thinking about, and he also starts talking a little bit about what does it mean for us that we work in web design to be able to have so many things produce quickly as web designers? We face kind of a similar situation right, there’s plenty opportunities to create fast and chips websites.
I personally love WordPress, because literally in five minutes, I can have a website that 10 years ago would have taken a whole six months, waterfall approach. So that’s brilliant! I like the idea that we can do that so fast, but where is the craftsmanship in all of this right? So how can we leave as how can we leave a bit of ourselves with this approach, so where’s, the true gift that we want to kind of bring together so Aaron invite us to followed a different path where we present the human touch in what we design And to kind of show ourselves kind of showing ourselves is essential kind of bringing the human factor in so this takes me to the definition of emotional design as Aaron defines it, so is in psychology and craftsmanship a good example of the concept when you go online And you think about you know, buying something in etsy right and I’ve seen this don’t quite a bit the minute with the parcel arrives, because this has been handmade the day.
Actual seller have put a really really personalized note. They have actually thought about how you open the package and how you kind of the first layer is going to make you feel on the second layer, so on and so forth. So really think about the fact that our previous arts and crafts movement have paid the way to bring in that human touch and showing ourselves and it’s something that is absolutely essential for what we do every day.
So the following is what I like to use us pretty much. The definition of emotional design is using psychology, psychology and craftsmanship to create an experience for users that make them feel like there’s a person and not a machine at the other end of the connection. Okay, so this brings me to the next point: does anyone of you know? This is actually an interesting because my company did a lot of work on this did does any one of you know, which one is the fastest-growing language in the UK.
I’m happy to take s mandarine! Okay, French, I’m sorry, okay, erotic, French! Actually, I did find that one – French, Spanish, polish, okay, polish okay, so this is your answer: emojis, okay! So actually – and it could be stretching it a little bit, but they have done lots of research on this and and a study done by professor Evans from bangor university actually found out that it is one of the fastest language right now right.
And it’s very interesting because how many times have you debated, put in a smiley face in what you’re right? How many times have you actually done it and then stop and maybe not do it and then kind of hard literally 30 seconds should I is it professional enough? Should I be doing it you know like come on? Am I the only one I have? I have people helping me sometimes prove read my beautiful English and I have these conversations.
I had it before you know. You know this is professional, I’m like how do I bring the human aspect right? I do feel that smiley face changes. The tone in so many ways right so I do have this constant debate and – and it’s a very interesting phenomenon because to me that, as as writers as we are all the time, that’s how we bring emotion and it’s it’s a fastest, growing language. Why not? Alright! So the next thing I’m going to talk about is how, in the 50s and 60s and American psychologist Abraham alone, sorry my Maslow Maslow there you, our Abraham Maslow, discovered something that we all knew, but he actually put it into words.
And it’s pretty much talking about our needs, so no matter our age or gender or race. We all have basic needs, and what’s really interesting about this pyramid, is that it kind of shows you how important they are. The the bottom of the pyramid is absolutely necessary, and then everything that goes as it goes up is more of a li shirting. So one of the things that aren did in his book is he kind of mapped them into what it means for users right.
So now that we’re designing interfaces, how do you translate that pyramid so he argues that interface design is designed for humans, so the pyramid applies, but he just changed things a little bit and the top it just becomes the pleasurable part. Okay. So, let’s quickly study the bottom of the pyramid. Ok, so for users needs to be met, an interface must be functional. I feel like I’m stating the obvious right.
If the user can complete a task, they certainly won’t spend much time in your application. So after they they feel like that would be taken care of, then they can actually come back and feel confident that that’s something that they understand and they can actually work with. So the interface must be reliable. So if the web server drops out immediately or intermittently or the service is just unreliable, most likely users are never going to come back to your website.
The interface must be usable, and this is where our beautiful research aspect of UX comes into place right, so it could be very functional, very reliable and then user research comes along and proves us all wrong or all right. So I think that one of the things that’s been really interesting in our feel for you x is that we kind of stopped there right its usability testing brilliant. They know they discovered it.
They were able to. You know go through the journey and add something to that shopping, cart or delete it and yay, let’s just ship that, but what Aaron is telling us is that actually maybe it’s time to think about the next level, so he thinks he asks us about imagining. If usability was the standard for other industries such as automobile, so if an automobile is usable, that’s good enough. How can we tell between a BMW – and you know – maybe a a Kia or I don’t know – I’m not good with cars, but but it makes a really good point right if it’s usable, that’s the end of it.
No, it’s actually more than that. So many websites and applications are starting to create experiences beyond usability and it’s um it’s time to start thinking about bringing pleasure, fun, joy and delight and pretty much. This is what this whole talk is about. So are you all excited? This is something you want to learn: okay, very good and about the light. I I see that word quite a bit in portfolios and series a delightful experience, so um one of the things I’m going to do today is I’m going to illustrate kind of emotion through an exercise.
So I want you to think it was an interesting picture to find this is actually just Google search for the best food in the world, an image search. Okay, so I want you to think back to the best meal. You’ve ever had not a good meal, but a mind-blowing palate changing fall in love with food, again great meal. Okay, can you remember it all right? What made it so memorable? Was it the test? I answer: was it the taste or the texture of the food? Was it the unexpected pairing of flavors? Was it the artful presentation or they attentive waiter, to staff the ambience, the restaurant, the company? What was it chances are that it was not the nutritional value of it right, so that is pretty much the equivalent of functional, but it was so many other things right.
So once you think about it right, the meal met your body’s needs, but it also immerse. You in a pleasurable experience and your memory, your brain remembers it as such and it will stay there for a really long time until you top that with something else. Okay, so why don’t we aim for a similar target in web design? What is going to be that web experience that login experience that transactional experience that is going to top buying shoes online, all right so um, let’s see, certainly we all I’m sorry.
Certainly, we all want to eat edible food with nutrition value, but we also want an experience with it. So the next thing we’re going to talk about is three principles of emotional design. Okay – and I pick three because I wanted to kind of pick the best ones and make sure we at least got to see a few there’s more. But let’s talk about these three, so the first one is let your brand personality show and this one comes really close to my heart, because I’m an advisor for a few startups and I am really really interested in a very early stage of a startup.
It is even before they go into funding and talking to investors and it’s very interesting to see how startups sometimes don’t really think about their brand, and it’s so important, and the first principle is let your brand personality show. So when you present your brand, it has to be clear to the idea audience how it relates as if it was another human being right. It creates the empathy and it helps you the audience better see themselves as part of of the brand and and humans wants to connect with humans and at a industry level that other human is that brand.
So I find brand something that is very, very interesting to always have in mind and remember that that is going to be the personality that you’re bringing I am as good all right, good, okay, very good! So sorry it should have changed to that one. So emotional design turns casual users into fanatics ready to tell others about their positive experience again brand. My next one. Well, it’s not mine, but the next 1i.
It actually almost feels mine, because it’s about parenting and such how many of you are parents in the audience. I feel like an awful mother that loves her children behind now. Okay, good one person all right, so I guess I can talk a little bit more about this one, so the baby-faced bias has anyone of you heard of that before all right yeah. It’s a very interesting one, so we can learn a lot about design on how to communicate effectively with the audience by studying evolutionary psychology, so pretty much our human nature.
So evolution has given us baby, goggles and um. It is funny how Walter puts it, but Jeff Atwood. He actually blocks a lot about technology, mostly code and stuff, but right around the time I old, my youngest was one year old. He posted that blog post and it just resonated so much with me because what he talks about is about. Is it really worth it to have children? You know it’s such a pain, but he talked about the 51 % against the forty-nine percent and how the 51 is the most impossible.
Sulaiman of joy I ever felt, and the 49 is incredible pain, so um we as humans. Have these really strong attachment to two babies? We look at a baby face and we just melt – and some of you may just not want to show it, but you internally must feel something, and it’s to the point that actually scientists believe that the reason why we react to babies faces that way. Can someone guess is actually a little creepy now well yeah, guess who the predator would be us? They believe that one of the reasons babies have such cute faces, though we don’t kill them and in I know it sounds a little bit like it’s stretching it, but it’s true I mean again is this is about bringing in who we really are an evolutionary psychology Right – and I think I can tell that there aren’t that many parents in the room because there’s moments that you just go, of course not I’m going to kill you, but it’s like wow.
What did I get myself into? It is tough. Being a parent is one of the most amazing roller, coasters rights, you’ve ever experienced and what’s really interesting and I’m just going to do a little spoil alert. One of the talks that I have in the pipeline is to talk about parenting and how, as parents, whether we want it or like it or not, with user experience, designers, okay, think about your parents and the experience that they provided to you for the first 15 Years of your life right, so it is a very interesting thing to think about and how you can bring those feelings into your website.
So cats are a lot another ones that are very, very overly used and then any other babies or cops and so on and so forth. So that is the principle number 20 on. This is an example. So in this website, they’re using the baby face by his principle to kind of get people attached to the brand alright. So the next thing I want to talk about his personality and I was really really happy to find out that this chapter is actually available to anyone.
So if you’re not sure if this book is the right one for you go ahead and give it a try, read this chapter and um and just learn a little bit about a personality from from Aaron. So here we go. Personality is the platform for emotion, emotional design. Primary goal is to facilitate human to human communication, and I think that’s one of the reason mo cheeks are so famous because it facilitates communication.
It makes us laugh, it is very close to you know almost is actually sometimes better than just picking up the phone and talking to the other person, so so um if we’re doing our job. Well, the computer resents into the background and the personality rises to the surface. So, to achieve this goal, we must consider how to interact with one another in real life, so think about how we, actually, you know, say hello.
How we, actually you know, one of the one of my favorite analogies, are how we sell when we go into a department store and how we sell online, sometimes so, when you login to that website, and certainly you have that interrupt telling you bye now bye. Now I like to use that analogy of if you were to enter into dividends, if you want to go into with someone be on your face, asking you to buy something, no most likely the first, they hold a nice conversation right and they get that emotional connection From you and then they say: oh do you know we have blah blah.
So how do we bring that into our web design? So next slide this one really quick talks about how it was so important when we started kind of printing documents to bring back the handwriting kind of feeling into Bibles. And I find funds a very a typography in general, an interesting kind of way to demonstrate how we need that we need to that connection. So, if you think about every single tutorial you’ve done out there on the website, it usually uses scratchy kind of handwritten fonts.
They always go out of their way to find that font, because they want to kind of feel that you know it’s all right. I’m teaching you something its equivalent of that. You know whiteboard. So it’s very interesting to talk about. You know how people can connect through little things like that. So the next thing I’m going to talk about is personas, so personas are stunned to a standalone tool in the design process, but they only provide a partial picture of the relationship we’re building with that audience.
So, in really quick, this is actually one of the personas that calf share with me and there are on our website, so we use them all the time who has used personas as UX, yeah or known even well, even though new exercises are okay. So the reason why I was so excited that these chapter, in fact was the one that was available is because what errand us in this chapter, I thought it was absolutely amazing what he said about personas is sure we use them all the time we usually use Them to build that design, but what’s the persona of our website right, so we know who they are, but who are we if you were to build a persona on that website, you work on every day.
What would you have for all of these squares right grumpy? You know happy may be very cold right, so that is a really good way to quickly assess how you’re doing as far as holding that conversation with your users, so is anyone familiar with MailChimp, okay, good MailChimp Aaron actually is the UX design the principal head of You exile MailChimp, and it is a very interesting actual product, because imagine so really quick for those of you don’t know what milk shrimp is is pretty much a platform that helps you send lots of emails to lots of people and they’ve done an amazing job help.
You manage and design especially emails, so think about those marketing people that have to actually log in to send the next email to you know, promote the next thing and so on and so forth. So one of the things that he talks about is how MailChimp kind of brought some of that personality with their mascot mascot. I think it’s called Freddie and every time you login, he has a little message for you: okay, so um.
He actually shows how they started. Thinking of Freddie as an actual person and they started to track Freddie’s personality and they mapped it. So again is the concept of bringing personas into the actual product that you produce. So I add to me that was a very interesting concept. So the next thing I would like to talk about is the strategies for implementing emotional design. So this is the actionable bit so surprised.
So have you noticed that hearing your favorite song on the radio seems way more enjoyable, then just go ahead and go to Spotify and get it running right. So is the element of surprise that amplifies our emotional response? Is that anticipation? Is that not knowing that? What’s going to happen, so i’m going to show you this website. I know it’s really hard to see from at the back, but i’m going to describe this bit right here.
It says: do not pool okay, so someone asked a question and I really want to thank those of you that went to kind of ask questions as I was trying to put questions together and one of the questions that I got asked was: how do you measure Effectively measure emotional design – and I have two answers for you today night, so one of them is well a click-through rate through that do not pool would be a good one right.
So can someone just one person guess what happens if you were to pull it blows up a hand comes down and they actually pull to the next item or something like that, so it actually interacts with you so yeah. That’s that’s an interesting way to bring emotional design the next. The next strategy could be anticipation. Ok, so we owe I misspelled. Sorry with anticipation have any of you seen this last month.
Anyone who recognizes it was, I the only one paying attention. Ok, so this was all over the world of newspapers and stuff and it’s actually coming from three yeah yeah and they had this campaign going on for a while and let anyone know everyone know that it was going to happen that day and so on and so Forth so anticipation actually creates a load of emotion when it comes to designing. So the next thing I want to talk is a prime, ok and again.
Milk chimp is a excellent example. So priming happens when a person is exposed to a stimulus that it turns it shapes the response to another stimulus. So the best way to think about is the other day. I saw a little kind of dog presentation and every time they would pull a trick. That will give them a little bit of something so imagine for those marketing people that have to get into mailchimp and send the next bulk email.
Do you think they’re suspecting something new every time they log in? Do they pay attention to that funny message about who you know that be the best bananas? You know, that’s the first one right there, so it actually makes something that could feel kind of really not fun fun. So that’s one of the ways they’ve been able to kind of change their brand around so the other 10, and then this is this. Is answer number two about measuring emotional design? So that’s a really difficult thing to measure right because CTR is just going to be a click but prime prime prime e yeah priming yeah, so going back to measuring emotional design.
These are all the tweets that MailChimp gets about that experience. Okay, so talking about the articles that they’d link you to talking about how, even though they were frustrated, it cheered up, the monkey help them get cheered up. This one is the best they say I just logged in into mailchimp and the little monkey in the corn and says: hey Kate, new haircut, muy Guapo. It helps that I speak Spanish.
Doesn’t it uh? How do they know? You know just like, and it’s funny because Erin talks about this and he said, of course we never know, but hey someone out there, I statistically speaking most of got a new haircut and that created an emotional connection with her so much that she tweeted about it. So I know Twitter is not the most ideal platform for measuring stuff, but I think it actually tells you something right and don’t put it in your kpi’s fight, tweets, /, anyways um, the other one.
I’ve seen that is very interesting is asking for forgiveness. So so so far we looked. Oh no sorry, I right here, okay, asking for forgiveness, so this one is a perfect example. When something goes wrong, wear something you know: that’s going to go wrong, and that happens quite a bit when we’re dealing with backends and service and servers and so on and so forth. So one of the things I want to show today is this brilliant way for flickr to address that, so they had an outage, they knew was going to get people really really frustrated, but instead they just turn it into an actual contest.
So, even though you could not go on flickr and look at some photos, they encourage people to try out to take photos that will bring two colors together and people just win absolutely not, and they got really really creative and they turn that absolutely horrible experience into Something that people just couldn’t stop stop talking about so again asking for forgiveness is the idea that you can use emotional design in order to kind of ease the pain of things that are just completely inedible.
Okay, so really quick. After all of this, let’s go back to our question. So how do you embed emotional design, especially into a transactional website, so I think i’ll show you lots of examples today that you can definitely take into what we’re doing after right after this. But I want to show you a few more and especially because there’s some other examples that may not be for things us. You know fun.
So, for example, telling a story is a good way to bring emotional design. The other one is Gamma Phi Gamma Phi Gamma. Five, so going ahead and setting up your Dropbox and all that it’s just not that much fun, but Dropbox actually figured out a way to make it a little more of a game and make you feel good about it. Make it fun. So here is woeful, just kind of trying to hold a conversation and making you feel like it’s actually a game to create a forum, and I miss the sly, sorry and then mint.
Com. So the reason why i’m going to kind of wrap it up with mint com is because I found it to be the most transactional website. So has anyone of you heard of mint com yeah that I think that’s a very American thing? It’s yeah! So what minta come to us is that it actually helps you track all your expenses, so the challenge they have is that they don’t do anything for you in the sense that they’re, not banking, they’re, not a credit card, but you actually had to give all your Financial information and at first they had a really hard time convincing investors that this is something people will be willing to do, because you know it’s such a very scary thing to just give out your financial information to anyone.
So one of the things they did in order to to gain respect is to think about. How can we number one make sure it feels like we can? We are trustworthy that they can, actually, you know, put their financial information in there and how can we kind of differentiate ourselves from older competitors? So one of the things I didn’t go as to one of the principles, but one of the things they did is that they really thought out about the layout and all the different ways of bringing color to communicate.
Trustworthiness and to make people feel that this was a legit website and it’s a very interesting thing. Cuz the other day, I was in one of those websites that do like credit reports and stuff, and it feels so old-fashioned, and I did go through that emotional kind of decision. Three myself, I’m like hmm. How can they give me? You know information about my credit when he feels so fashion when the colors are so dated and so on and so forth, keep in mind i’m very biased because imac, you know ux designer, but it was really interesting because the way they turn this around was making Sure that they lay out the contracts, the color fell very professional and very trustworthy.
Ok, so I am at the end of my presentation. I really really hope these gave you lots and lots to think about tonight, and it is an absolutely wonderful, wonderful subject to talk about, especially because it reminds us how human we are like that. Babyface concept that I talked about it scare a few of you, but it is true. It’s very interesting when you go back into our psychology who we really are and how we actually can bring that to life unto our websites and all the stuff we work on on a day-to-day basis.
Thank you. So much for listening to my emotional design. Talk you

What am I going to be doing for you, I’m going to be showing you the opportunity that you have by using google SEO and what is SEO search engine optimization? How can you scale a business using google all right and i’m going to jump in to get showing you a guinea pig quote, unquote and show you an eps aight that is not doing so well and the possibilities that it could be having if it invested into Someone that knows SEO pretty much and what does that feel we’re going to get you higher in the google rankings, because eighty-two percent your customers are going to google and type in whatever company or niche you’re in there typing housecleaning slower london all right, wherever you’re located In the country doing business and in the market alright, and then i’m going to jump in to you about facebook advertising, why should you mark it on facebook and how can you scale your business with facebook? Alright, so let me just drop right into the article so we’re on nap local comm.
You can visit us here for more information. Alright, so, as I understand you know, you guys are getting into, you may be getting into the house cleaning business, so your customers are going to want to go to google and type in house cleaning just like anybody else. So, according to google in SLO house cleaning is getting searched between 2002 2200 times per month every single month year round. Okay, just in that one area at about a 10 mile radius or so so, as you can see, we can have all the most profitable keywords that people are searching for on google.
So we want to get you ranked in all of these keywords. Alright. So how do we get you there? Ok, so google has an algorithm. It has 200 determining factors, but i’m not going to talk to you about all 200 because we’ll be sitting here for an out for hours, i’m going to talk about for the most important ones. All right, once we nailed these everything else, kind of falls into place. Okay. The first thing is: let’s pick a guinea pig, let’s pick on a website that is not doing so well, ok, so I chose to go with green cleaning service co.
Uk, okay and I am using a UK search engine for google okay, so this is local searches in Google. All right, these guys are ranked number eight. So let me show you this chart all right. So when you are ranked number one you control about thirty. Three percent of all the clicks, but when you’re ranked number eight you maybe get three or four percent and, as you can see page to you might as well be on page twenty because nobody’s really clicking on that page.
Okay. So let me show you this. Guy number: eight verses, the guy. That’s ranked number one: that’s controlling all of the business, that’s gumtree, alright! So here’s the guy, that’s ranked memory. Alright, green cleaning services he’s getting almost no traffic to the website, all right and here’s another metric that we can use. Almost no traffic to the website two clicks a month. All right. Now: here’s gumtree, almost a million clicks per month, a million visitors every single month.
Okay, granted there, a bigger company they’re, probably do business in other cities, but that is the potential market that you could be reaching by getting on google for these profitable keywords – and we have the information right here. Just how do we do it right? So again, i’m not going to talked about all that all all of it, but i’m using these guys as a guinea pig all right. The first thing when we go to their website, do they have what’s called authoritative content? Are they mentioning all of these services, all of the keywords and abundance? Okay? So, as you can see, these guys actually have quite a bit of content, but the problem is: they are not mentioning all of these keywords.
Okay, if you read through their website, it has almost nothing to do with most of the services that they’re providing. They need to be mentioning housecleaning, slaw, slaw, housecleaning and a whole bunch of stuff. You want to have massive amounts of content on the page, so these guys probably have about 1000 of 1500 words, but it doesn’t stop there. You want to add this is a large market. Okay, we’re competing with really really big companies all right, so we need to have a lot of content on the page and we need to be bolding out information, that’s relevant, so every single keyword we mentioned.
We want to have it in bold kind of like they have here, but there they have molded window cleaning and a tendency cleaning. They need to be bolding, housecleaning slaw. You know home cleaning, slog best cleaners and slob all that stuff. Okay, they’re only getting they’re not getting any visitors any month, maybe one or two: that’s it all right. So what do I mean by authoritative content? If you go to Google any type in elephant Wikipedia always shows up number one because of the authoritative contents.
Look at this page and less information on elephants, their evolution, what they eat everything I love using this example, because it’s true look at all this content. This is what your page needs to look like. You need to have like this much information on your page. If you’re going to compete in a large market, especially housecleaning, okay, because there’s so many so many competitors, but you can do it if you have the right process.
So what I recommend is building a brand new site all right for you guys, if you don’t have this a brand new site with anywhere between three thousand to four thousand words and this using all this keyword. Research building it with all these keywords in the home page and that’s just going to tell Google hey, read because Google reads content and if you’re going to rank for keywords, google has to be able to read that content on your page.
Also, photos like this need to be named correctly with SEO in mind okay, so this is very important. Alright and then you want to have your address in the footer. Okay, I don’t see any address here in the footer phone numbers. None of these phone numbers are clickable, this one’s clickable, okay, email in a top right corner, not clickable. Okay, that’s very important. The next thing your site has to be mobile-friendly, which they are.
This means because eighty percent of your customers are actually going to be looking at your website through a mobile device and an iphone or some type of mobile cell phone device. Okay, so it has to be mobile-friendly which they are so that’s good before. The third thing is local citations, so whatever I come to the search engine, okay, let’s go back to the search. You see that these guys are actually ranked at the top of this search and what’s happening here.
The problem here is there only focusing on this. One keyword: okay, they’re only listed as a local service – we’re here, they’re at the top of here, but they’re not showing up in this map. You don’t see them on this map above okay they’re. Only focusing on this one keyword, if you search all the other keywords. Okay, if I go to my google keyword planner, I can see that house cleaning is only can search, maybe 20 times a month, but there’s cleaning services, there’s house cleaning services, there’s cleaning companies, home cleaning services, house cleaners, maid service, home cleaning, cleaning company made the maids Clean house there’s all these keywords and they’re, focusing on just the one.
Alright, so almost no one is clicking. Most people are going to click from here. There’s about forty percent of all the clicks, actually more than that are going to come from here then they’re going to go to the local all right and you need to their spread there so spend they need to be focusing on all of these keywords. Okay, so you have to be at the top of the locals – that’s important, but you want to be in multiple keywords to all right: some examples to get there.
You have to be listed in google, yahoo, being yellowpages, whitepages, facebook and all that stuff and that’s going to build your local citations. It’s just online directories that tells Google hey I’m listed in all these directories. Take me more serious and give me higher rankings. Okay, the last thing I’m going talk to you about is pretty much the power of your website. So for these guys you know Facebook want to know how popular are you online? You know do people care about your website what other websites are mentioning you online, and these are called you get these through.
What’s called backlinks, okay, so right now, green queen has 10 websites mentioning them at 141 times. Okay, which is okay, but look at their trust flow. This is the quality of their site, which is 0 all right now. 0. Let me show you this chart. This shows you the quality meter, okay, so at a zero there at the lowest quality all the businesses on page, one of Google are going to have a 20 trust flow or high.
If they’re going to be ranked number one they’re going to be 20 or higher, and that’s where you want to be that’s the type of quality that you need to rank in your business and that’s the reason why they’re ranked number eight on organic rankings. Okay, all the way down here, all right, let me show you our website, amp local comm, to give you an example all right, so when I copy and paste this into here, ok, I copy and paste it into here all right and look at the trust flow Of this side of 21 links, 250 backlinks trustful, Oh 26.
Alright! So, as you can see all right, so, as you can see, this is off the charts that’s way above 25. So that’s the type of power that you need on your site. So let me show you an example: if you go to google for United States and you type in San Diego SEO, all right, you find amped local right here at number. Three okay SEO is probably one of the biggest competitive niches in the world. Why? Because the people that really know how to do it are in the top three and we’re in the top three for a 3 million population city.
Okay, so that’s to give you an example of why links are so important. Okay, so you want to have powerful links and that’s what we’re going to help you get there. Okay, so that, in a nutshell, is SEO, you know and hot, and how to get you this so get in a new site, getting a mobile-friendly getting caught great content on there. Getting the citations and the links is going to build you a powerful site and get you in the position to be where these guys are at getting 1 million visitors and slow and London and that they’re using in that area.
Ok! So now let me jump into facebook advertising. Ok, so you asked me to talk to you about how I can get you leads for maybe for house cleaning right and also for teleprompter enting. Ok, so I went into facebook and just targeted some of that just so. I can see like what the market looks like, so I went to slaughter in 10 mile radius. Ok, I targeted people that have a little bit more money, 2665 men and women, and I put a whole bunch of interest the people that would need to rent these teleprompters.
Ok, i’m not going to go into all of the details of that, but, as you can see, I would perfectly target a campaign. Ok and I could reach about 53,000 qualified people that are in the market for teleprompters alright, so we can mark it to them and reach them. Just like I told you about and we’ll be able to generate leads for that. Let me show you for house cleaning. Did the same thing: slow, England, 25 to 20, 26 or 65, but I targeted people that own homes on live in condos, there’s been a family-based home that rented homes, people that would actually need that service have a perfectly targeted campaign.
It’s right in senator green and have a hundred and sixty thousand people that I can reach all right. So, yes, we can target people based off their interest, demographics pages they like things they mentioned online and that’s how we’re going to put ads in front of people. So what does that add? Look like. Let me give you an example: all right, all right, here’s an ad that we did for carpet cleaning company okay, so it pretty much the advil to call out the local city asked the question they’re going to say yes to put links to landing pages, get them Get their special offer get their attention and get them to click on an ad okay.
One thing that we really like to do I’ll give you a better example, is create ads like this, where we’re offering a special offer. Ok, we asked a question that their answer. Yes to do you hate your, do you love your car, but you hate when its dirty? Ok, this is auto detailing ok, they’re, going to go out and clean people’s cars and wash them and detail them we’re giving away 50 percent off auto detailing package 30 people.
This week treat your car truck and artery to a treatment and our Auto Spa things of that nature and we click the call. Now that’s the call to action. Ok, fifty percent off so creating some type of special offer to bring people in your business and make them repeat. Customers is a great way to get business. Ok and it could be like a free trial. It could be twenty five percent off. It could be something for free right, then they click the add alright, and then they go to pages that look like this ok down.
This is for the carpet cleaning one all right, but you know there’s multiple ways. We can do this, but pretty much what it says is: do you want your special offer? The fifty percent off carpet cleaning sign up for the special Facebook offer 11 coupons left. They click this and we get them to give our name email phone number to send the coupon. Ok they’ll get the coupon. Now you have the personal information, that’s a lead that you can call to do business with, and then it goes to a page like this.
Hey due to the limit, no more coupons, please call first call basis to get your to get to offer and also special offer bonus. Offer will give you an additional bonus offer if you call now ok – and this is how you generate inbound calls – and this is all has to do with psychology – the psychology of the Facebook user – and this is how we can generate more business for you, whether it Be for house cleaning or for the teleprompter all right and the whole fun will be custom-built already targeted the audience’s that I showed you, but this will be your your.
We can target your. You know custom campaigns as well, just like this all right, so I really hope that makes sense. We can generate a lot of business and just to give you an example, you know I have this pulled up. These are some metrics from one client that we’re doing that were that’s doing auto detailing, and you know oil accident repair window tinting. He does all that cool stuff, and you can see that this is our cost per lead.
Okay, this is how many leads he’s generated, and this is the cost per lead. So we have three campaigns that we tested we’re going to switch this one back on. I think this evening, but as you can see we’re getting a lead for a dollar 33. Okay. This one’s for 378 and this one’s for a dollar 78 all right. Imagine having someone come into your business for a dollar. What, if we can get you a lead for a dollar? Okay, that’s huge, let’s say four: five dollars: what if you get someone’s personal contact? Information for five bucks and say you have a closing rate of twenty percent, which these guys have a closing rate of about twenty percent.
Okay, I’m sure that would be incredibly incredibly valuable to you if you can get an actual closing curl Ike 25 euro. Let’s put it in your money: 25 euros: okay for home cleaning for 300 euros; that’s a huge roi, okay same thing for teleprompter; okay! So that’s the type of business. Now, as far as how many leads I can get you and what the cost is per lead. Like I told you the first two to four weeks, that is the golden time where we find out your numbers.
You know we run tests, we run campaigns and figure out exactly how much we’re paying per campaign per lead and then tell you hey for 500 bucks. We were able to get you a lead for two dollars or three dollars now, it’s time to go up to, let’s spend two thousand dollars and scale your business. That way! That’s what you need to do, that’s how we do it, we’re not just going to jump, jump three, four or five thousands of dollars into a campaign, not knowing the metrics.
We have to figure out your metrics okay, so that, in a nutshell, is SEO and Facebook advertising all right, portela, Panthers and health claims. So we can do it. It’s doable! I’m really looking forward to helping you. You have my contact information, please reach out, and I look forward to hearing from you. So thank you so much for reading and I’ll be in touch bye-bye.
So I wanted to go through and show you guys some of the updates here and also Sean commented on one of my article cuz the other day, and I do a lot of stuff on facebook advertising all that good stuff. They said hey what about adwords like what do you do on adwords and all that stuff, so I want to show you guys just To be completely transparent.
I have a lot more experience in facebook advertising, but I’ve been able to see some really good results in google adwords as well, so guys. Also, if you want this little checklist, I made for you all, i’m showing you breaking down exactly how I create my campaigns. Exactly what boxes to check to uncheck the bidding strategy and all that stuff just comment down below just come in adwords and Then also just for the fun of it comment with your favorite ice cream, queso with adwords and then one of your favorite ice cream.
Isn’t you know ice cream, then I Don’t know. Maybe we won’t give this to you here, but anyway guys. So you guys want that will make sure you guys get that alright guys. So this article is going to be Specific to setting up a article marking campaign, and so i’m going to give you the complete rundown, how to set the campaign, what boxes check, but all that different stuff. Now you know i’ll probably make different series that going through and hit different parts, the adwords platform, but there’s a lot of different things you can do with adwords.
You can set up campaigns for the google search. Google display network There’s a whole different, a bunch of different platforms. I’ll show you guys that here in a second. So, as far as like kind of the the beginner tutorial for google advertising, google adwords, This is going to be break down the article marketing side of things. Okay, so right here, this is kind of like you’re made advertising platform.
So if you guys are familiar with facebook, advertising Same type of thing right here, so we’re going to do is click over here on this plus button. Okay and, like I said guys, this is the new Platform that they’ve just updated. I think they have to like about a month ago, So, if you’re familiar with the old platform and you’re like man, i’m not really sure how to make this whole new platform. Work is pretty similar.
I don’t know why they always change things, but they do so. This is kind of like the quick rundown. Alright, So we’re going to do is we’re going to click on new campaign. Right here, you guys Can see, is to select a campaign type so similar to how you know. Facebook advertising starts out, And what we’re going to do is article right here, but you can see all the different options, so you have search.
So if someone types in to the search bar google says like basketball, shoes or whatever they’d be able to pop your ad right, there display is basically like banners on all these different ads or i’m not as sorry, banners on different blog sites shopping. Obviously, if you’re going through and shopping and universal app, that’s kind of like going through and pushing app, installs and being on different apps and all that stuff.
So What we’re going to do is choose article right here. Okay, now guys i’ve tested a little bit both on both of these, but what I like to do is typically product and brand consideration. Okay, so brand awareness rhesus is just more of like going through and getting mass exposure for as little as possible product and brand consideration. I’ve found like when you’re going for conversions and leads This is the best way to go through and set that up right.
So we’re just going to click on this all right. So then, if We’re going to come down, says campaign subtype, obviously, if you’re going through and doing e-commerce Or shopping, if you got like a shopify store, you’ll probably want to click on shopping. For me, what i’m? Just going more for like Lead generation of getting people to opt-in to you, whatever landing page, i’ve got Set up, I like to do standard consideration right here, okay, So what we’ll do now is we’ll just click continue and it’ll.
Take us into this aspect of things where we choose like our budget, we choose which audience we want to target and You’ll see we’ll be able to hit a bunch of other things and, like I said guys on that little spreadsheet, I had for you guys where That little pdf download, as I mentioned, if you guys type in adwords, plus your favorite ice cream i’ll, get you guys that, because I break down Exactly all these different things, even when you get an additional settings, what to do there and there’s some important things where, If you don’t, do it the right way, you’re going to end up losing a ton of money? Alright.
So for this example, let’s just say: we’ve got the test campaign right, So we want to just give the campaign a name and then, as far as the the daily budget, this is obviously up to you of what you go through and start with, like I like, If you’re getting started, just barely i’d, say, maybe try out ten to twenty dollars somewhere in there. I typically start out around 25 to 50 dollars depending on the campaign, and what my end goal is how big the audience is, but for this example, let’s just Say we’ll, say 20 bucks per day.
All right also, you guys, Can see hey i’m going to set a campaign total, so I only want to spend $ 100 or $ 500,000 or whatever the number is, so you can switch that up right there, All right. So if you come down here to delivery method method, so standard is you can see right here? Suspend your budget Evenly over time. Okay versus accelerated! Hey it’s going to spend your budget as quickly as possible so like, if you’re, targeting the words basketball, shoes and And like from 7 to 8 a.
M. First thing in the day, there’s tons of people searching that it’s going to go through and show your ad as Many times as possible right out the gate, But then the rest of the day. It’s not really going to show your ads, so I like to go through and I like to use standard, alright guys so for start and end dates right here you can see you can start as soon as possible. You can select a certain date in the future and an end date as well, so you kind of set that up how you want it.
If you want Just ongoing you just say you know as soon as ads are approved and then there’s no end date. Well, you got To go back in and make sure you’re keeping an eye on it So that it doesn’t go through and spend tons of money, and you have no idea – and You owe a lot of money to google now. Okay, so don’t do that And that networks guys this is huge kay. We want to do youtube, search results, Youtube articles and we want to uncheck article partners on the display network right.
So the display network Honestly is more beneficial for google because it gives them so much more traffic To work with, but it’s kind of a different beast. Okay, so we wanted on youtube articles and youtube search results, because that keeps everything within youtube’s platform. Okay, on youtube.Com. There’s opposed to the display network, Where that gets into a wide variety of different sites, and we don’t really know what’s going on there, so we just want to Stay away from all that all right.
So now, if we come down to languages, obviously like if you’re running something in english or spanish or portuguese, Or whether the languages I like to just go through and make it so it’s specific to whatever language i’m doing if you’re speaking english in the article, you Don’t want somebody speaking like hebrew or something like that reading your article, because if i’m not going to understand it right and then locations, obviously you can do you know states, united states, canada.
This is all specific to you and your business and what you, where you’re, really trying to target ok bidding strategy. I always just leave it at maximum cpv devices. Although eligible devices just leave it there, frequency capping. Ok, hey guys! All of these options there’s a little button that I clicked a little bit earlier to says, show more all settings and that’s these are only going to show up If you click that.
Ok, so don’t skip Over this, because this is huge and you can actually waste a ton of money if you’re not doing this correctly. Ok, So what we’re going to do over here, it says, set a limit to no To how many times your ads appear to the same user right so, let’s say You’re going on there and let’s say: there’s like this 20 year old kid. So, let’s just say me: i’m going on there, i’m looking for a new basketball shoes right like got all the shoes in the back, i’m always looking for new basketball shoes.
I love those and i’m searching all these articles and you’re, saying like i’m going to target people with this article for people looking for basketball, shoes, ok and I go through and I type in you know: basketball shoes and I readed one article and it’s like lebron Basketball, shoes, kobe, the basketball, shoes, michael jordan basket. I got all these different ones and I’m seeing your ads so many times and it gets to a point where it’s like.
Ok, it’s really annoying keep on seeing your ad and I get the point. I know what you’re talking about. I know what you’re you’re trying to get across right, So we want to go through and limit the amount of times. One person is going to go through and see our ad everyday and The number of times it’s actually going to pop up and show to them. So what we like to do is come over here and say: Set a number of impressions now usually like to do two and the number of views I usually like to do one or two Okay, so one or two I don’t know, let’s just start to in Here for right now, and then, if we come down here, let’s say so: content Exclusions.
Okay, this is another big one. Okay, I hope all of the frequency capping made some sense, because this is really important because a lot of times when people go through and search for a specific result or keyword or whatever they’re doing a lot of searches so like. If your ads going to keep popping up, people keep popping up, just gets annoying okay, so jumping over here to content exclusions. What I like to do is I like to exclude all mature audiences and obviously depends on your offer, depends on what you’re doing, but typically for most offers all that stuff.
You just don’t want like that. The mature type articles for your ad to be displayed on there. It’s typically like not the best traffic, then also. I also like to opt out of all three of these. So embedding youtube articles live streaming articles in games. Okay, it’s like someone’s playing a game. They don’t really care about your ad sorry they just they just don’t. If they’re reading a livestream article there and they’re interested in what’s going on, live they’re, not interested in your ad okay and then embedded, you see articles you don’t know where those are going to be embedded.
Okay, so I like to go through and uncheck those or check all those, and then typically this obviously is depending on your audience. I also like to go through and check all of these Sensitive content right. So this you can see all these are beta sexually suggestive. Profanity sensational shock you, like all that stuff social issues like you’re catching people a lot of times and all that stuff and pretty like emotional Situations, so they’re not really in the right mindset to go and react and respond to your ad right.
So, like I just like To leave it out of there There’s a lot of traffic on google, you don’t need to go through and have every single person seeing your stuff. You want to catch them at the right time. Okay, all right so ad schedule all right! This is kind of self-explanatory, But you can say hey. I want to run all day every single day and that’s great, because you’re able to see okay is it going to work best on the weekends on the like on Midweek or what days are going to actually work best.
So I typically like to start out by just saying all all days every single day, however, for me, I like to run live ads for live trainings. Okay, so I do my live trainings every thursday. So what that means is like, if i’m running an ad on thursday right After the live training, they got ta wait to the next thursday. It’s like it’s almost like too far out in advance, So usually like. I don’t run my ads on thursday, friday saturday and I usually start like on sunday, and so I can say, like hey, I want to run on monday from let’s say just 12:15 a.
M. To 11:45 p.M. We add okay and then we just go through and we Do this for Tuesday then wednesday, then thursday, they’d, like all the days that I want to run them it’s specific to that, the time zones k and honestly like It doesn’t. I haven’t seen a huge difference if you’re like running them in the middle of the day or the middle of the night, Or whatever i’ve seen sign ups on both. So it kind of just depends on it’s more.
It’s more you’re targeting Okay, which we’ll get to here in a second right, so that those are kind of like the initial. That’s that first top half now we’re going to do is create our ad group okay. So this gets into more of the Targeting of like who we want to specifically target okay, so our ad group name we’re going to say test demo and then the maximum cpv Cpv bid. What does that mean? So it means the maximum cost per view.
Bits like how much you’re willing to pay For someone to view your article so like you can see right here. Maximum cpu cost per view bid. It’s the highest amount, you’re willing to pay for someone to view your article ad, so Google adwords is all a bidding system right so like if you go through, and you only have so much so many like people reading each article and let’s say you’ve – got this Basketball shoes, article and somebody’s willing to pay 20 cents every single time.
Somebody read that article okay versus another person might be willing to pay 30 cents every single time that purchase someone reades that article so based on this person’s daily budget right here. The person that is willing to pay 30 cents they’re going to be in first place and they’re going to take Priority to all the people, viewing the article before the 20 cents person, okay, but then, once that person has spent their $ 20 at a budget, then This person is now going to take priority.
Okay, so that’s kind of how it works, just a bidding and if you’re not getting abuse, You want to up your budget if you’re getting like you know, if you’re spending too much money or whatever you can like lower your budget, a little bit where I typically Like to start out with this – and this obviously is really depending on how competitive your niche, how competitive your market is, I like to start out with 20 cents per view? Okay, if you’re spending more than that you’re, probably spending a little bit more than you really need to.
However, if it’s a really Hot niche, it’s very competitive and you’re, not seeing the beus, you might need up it like. I do have some Where I go up to, like, I think 50 cent’s alright, but that’s for every single person to read your article. That’s not a lead! Okay or that’s! Not even someone clicking your article to your website. It’s just somebody. Reading your ad okay sign easement that I hope you guys get that right there can this popular articles a bit adjustment, you could say: okay, there’s like a really hot popular article like it hits trending or whatever They say hey.
You know. If there’s a popular article, are you willing To spend a little bit more to like be shown on there, and so you could say: hey i’m willing to spend 50 % more 75 % more or whatever? I think we don’t do that. I don’t really worry about that, just because there’s enough other traffic other places that you don’t need that, okay, So moving on guys here to the people who you want to reach the demographics okay, this is getting a little bit more into the targeting okay.
So we can say: okay based off your products, and this is going to be a little bit different for everyone right i’ll show you guys what I do to be a little bit different for everyone. I real estate agents, real estate brokers, loan officers, mortgage brokers, all that so female male unknown doesn’t really matter. Okay, like doesn’t matter the gender then over here, typically, if someone’s 65 plus for my market they’re – probably not really going to be actively doing stuff, and I go into like talking about technology stuff, and so sometimes that could be a little bit over their head and A lot of times, if someone’s 18 to 24 they’re, almost a little bit too young to really go through and connect and see my stuff whereas like if you got a shopify store, if you’re doing something else, You might be wanting to target more of the younger Crowd yarn community so based on your product, based on your offering what you’re doing you know just go through and target those those ages right there, okay, parental status, I don’t mess anything there.
You can and then household income just Because i’m taking people to a live training and i’m selling like a fairly high ticket products. I don’t want people like if we don’t know their how sold income. I don’t really want that that traffic, because it’s unknown right and then the lower 50 %. I don’t want just kind of like freebie secret type people. I want people that are willing to invest in their business into themselves and what they’re doing and then sometimes I uncheck this one.
It’s kind of like a back and forth thing, but basically they soft, like the the product, amount that you’re selling and who you’re working with you can go through and check on or off the household income items All right so now guys here is where we can Get detailed on who we want to target okay, So the audience is so you only want to do one of these four Okay, you don’t want to do all of them. You want to just do one of the four and I’ll show you guys kind of how to go through and use each and every one of these okay.
So the audience is So this one, this affinity, okay, that means groups of people based on their long-term Interests. So you click on this and you go through. What you have to do is you’ve got To create an affinity audience first. I wouldn’t really start here. I like i’ve Tested a little bit, but I haven’t really gotten to this a lot. So I would just like leave that to the side for just getting started, Intent and life events.
You see like in-market audiences case so like they’re in market for auto moto’s automotives business services. It’s like you can go through and target like they’re in the market for real estate right software. You got all these different options right there remarketing. This is really cool because you can remark it to everyone: who’s readed, one of your youtube articles before anyone the subscribe, you blog, you can remark it to anyone.
This visited your website. Okay, so, like you could set up your google, google tracking, your google analytics on your site and then anyone that’s visit your site, your blog, your landing page, whatever you Can remark it to them on google. So now You can go through and show your ads to them on google, on facebook on instagram and that you’re like everywhere right, so that’s pretty cool. You can also upload a customer database.
You can see youtube users similar audiences, that’s kind of like facebook’s look-alike audiences. Just like once, you upload, let’s say everyone, who’s readed, your youtube articles like let’s say us, maybe a thousand people. What google do is they’ll automatically create, what’s called a similar audience to the people that have already readed your article Okay, so it has to get to a certain level as have so many people in the audience.
I want To say it’s a thousand, not a hundred percent sure on that, but then they’ll automatically create it. Okay, you don’t have to go through and create it. They just automatically create it. There is so you can see. I’ve got several similar audiences based off leads and other things that i’ve uploaded there. Okay, So those are kind of the audience’s. If you pick one of these, you don’t pick any of these all right.
That’s that’s my words of wisdom right there, okay and then you just skip down here to create your article ad, which we’ll get to that here in A second and then or you can go through and say, hey. I want to target a keyword. Okay, so the keywords would be like so, for example, if I want to type in basketball, shoes, kobe, basketball, shoes or lebron, whatever you know, it’s like you go through and I wouldn’t really type in more than five keywords per per ad group that you’re creating right Here, just because what happens typically is google will go through and They’ll see like oh basketball, shoes getting a lot and they won’t even really go through and show it to these other keywords: he’ll just show All to this specific one right here, okay, So I probably want to do that or you go suits through it.
You can see you know enter enter a related website to get keyword, ideas. It’s like you could enter in your competitors website and get some ideas, or you know your product or service or whatever, So some cool things you can do right there. So basically like when someone types in basketball shoes, your article would show up as a article ad when you’re setting that all up okay. So now any topic right here.
This is pretty general. I would stay away from this in my personal opinion and I’ll. Let you guys know so actually i’ll just share with you right now. I would start out if you guys are just going to start out. I would start out with the audiences and remarketing remarketing people have already readed your articles. Your customer list, people visit your website. That’s going to be your warmest best bet, you’re, going to get your best results right out of the gate.
Okay, then, from there I would probably go through and maybe target some keywords And then even the next one is placement. So this topics you Can see right here, people are interested in like games or health or hobbies or whatever you’ve got all these different options and then And remember guys, if you choose topics you’re not going to use either one of these other ones you’re just going To pick one or the other, okay and then the placements you can say, hey I want to go through.
This is a pretty cool. You could come in here and say I want to choose where my article is placed. So I have you gone through and say I want to go through and search for youtube blogs, youtube articles, websites or whatever. So we can say: hey basketball, shoes, okay and then, when we type that in we can say okay, we want the youtube blogs or youtube articles. So we look at this and look at this. This is going to be the top searches for when you type in basketball shoes, so we just click all of these and then, if our bidding is high enough, would somebody like this is basically a quick and easy way to get ranked number one in google? For your article right, because all these articles are already ranked on the first page for basketball shoes, so if you want people To see your stuff, all you got To do is shoot that article And go say hey.
I want to my ad to run on these specific articles on page one, so you guys So say: basketball, shoes or lebron shoes or something like that. Let’s say something, and they would come in here – choose all these and then Anyway, so you can’t see the idea and you can choose all these articles go through and show your stuff To you. So, like i’ll, usually pick about twenty to thirty articles in there to show my my ads to you just so like there’s enough traffic enough people reading, but obviously that’s basis based off of your keyword that you’re typing in here in the articles that you’re choosing alright.
Alright, so now we’re getting into the ad portion. Okay, so let’s just choose a random article. Okay would Obviously you want it. You want to choose your article, you don’t want to choose just a random one. So, like let’s say you tell, I mean, read a lot of basketball articles lately, we’ll just choose this one right here, But obviously this is like what you want to do. Is you want to go through and use the article that you uploaded, because this Could be your ad right and when you load it, you want to make it unlisted? Okay, so that not everyone on your blog seen it because it’s probably a little bit different type of ad or article than your typical articles on your youtube blog.
So you want to make it unlisted so that nobody else can see unless they have the direct url. So now we’re going to come over here we’re going to throw this article in here and then what I do is I do the in-stream ad, alright and then i’ll just show you guys the actual landing page. I use right here. Okay, so i’m just going to come in here, throw in the url Final url display and give it an ad name and hit save and continue and you’re done.
Okay, now really quick, let me hit a few things on the landing page because google’s actually, when you’re setting up these adwords campaigns, they’re pretty specific about what you can do, what you can’t do and it’s kind of a pain in the butt. Sometimes sometimes you got to get your your adwords rep on the phone and kind of have them look at stuff? Okay. So if you look at this, first of all, i’ve got a star up here.
Okay, so I said the simple system of real estate agent newbie use the three extra commissions just 37 days. Now Google will look at that and if I don’t have a star up there, they’re going to be like oh you’re, Promising that and not every person’s going to get that which is true like I i’m going to percent agree. That’s not true that every person is going to get it, but i’m saying a real estate agent newbie, i’m not saying that everyone, i’m not promising that they’re going to Get it.
So then you got To come down here and say: a disclaimer okay. These sales figures state above are my purse sales figures, so something kind of like that does basically a little disclaimer and then even like right here, jason where’s ab real estate lead generation specialist in the last 12 months to generate over twenty thousand five hundred real estate Leads I Even have to put a disclaimer on the stuff that I say: i’ve done.
Okay and then every single one of these bullet points. I put a disclaimer just some different things like that. Then you need your contact information. You need an email, you need a phone number, you need the terms of service privacy policy. These things are all I kind of pay in the butt, but they are What you have to have them to get approved and second for legal purposes. You also need to have them okay, so those are a few different items on your landing page or whatever pace you’re sending people and if you’re doing e-commerce like a shop, buy store.
You still need that stuff. You still need contact information. You still need terms of service privacy while all that stuff, so it’s not just if you run into like a landing page or whatever. Okay, So you give an ad name. You hit demo you’d hit, save and continue’ and You’re done all right so anyway, guys. Hopefully that was helpful as far as like the complete adwords tutorial for beginners here at 2018 kind of with all the new updates that google has with their advertising platform.
So If you guys have questions, go ahead and leave a question down there in the bottom, also, if you guys want i’ll, show you guys this one more time, this little pdf right here, just comment down below and come in adwords and then comment whatever your favorite Ice cream is sms before and I could get you guys that downloads so that you guys can have that is you’re going through. Creating this, you know, check step-by-step checklist, and so you can know exactly what you should be doing so you’re, not wasting tons of money and your advertising dollars are being best spent alright.

But that’s okay, and this is because this is a problem that I recently in the last couple of weeks really I have been dealing with and I am now going to show you behind the scenes of what transpired with these ads.
How much I spent on advertising a couple of different things and just to give you an idea of what it takes, sometimes to really make things happen, so let’s go back to 1st of May June 26. Alright. So between these two accounts, it’s almost fifteen thousand dollars. I spent on advertising this brought back in the return just over total over almost twenty thousand dollars. Okay – and this is from the first of May, until today, 26 June, his accounts actually got flagged on Facebook before they turn off the payment method.
So I can’t pay these bills anymore to use these accounts, so I’m working with Facebook to get these bills reactivated. These are payment methods reactivated, because Facebook has a security measure to disable your payment method. So when you’re trying to pay your bills, see how it says payment method declined, my credit card was maxed. I had to pay paid my bill off, so I can go ahead and make the next payment, but it now, when I click on, add new payment method.
It does not allow me to add a payment. Such payments disable we temporarily temporarily disable the Facebook payments. Please contact us to turn it back on so they’re, going to give you a little form that you got ta fill out and we’ll go through this form. Real quick and just so you guys, can see y’all know that we’ll go on this account lifetime. You can see where it’s bent over the lifetime so on this one, seven thousand three hundred sixty eight dollars on this account on this one campaign alone brought in foreign sales at a product that was around $ 30.
So if you do the math on that, you can see what that what that is about – and this one campaign was three thousand dollars. Okay, this one campaign a little a few thousand dollars, so this is a couple of different things cumulative. This is a winning campaign that I was running. This campaign was for my music. I spent fourteen hundred and twenty dollars building that up got 1.2 million engagements on that which is pretty cool.
We’ll talk about that in another article cuz, that’s some stuff! I want to share with you guys on how to get exposure. We’re going to talk about that. Okay, I mean you guys are going to see how I’m building up my like band and my music brand, and I’m going to share that with you. In other articles. This is mainly just to show you how to get your accounts. Reactivated after they’ve been deactivated um.
One thing to note: if Facebook ever Flags your account for policy violations, though it’s going to have a notice here. If it’s for policy violations nine times out of ten they’re, not going to you turn your account back on, you have to get into that account and I’ll show you how to there’s millions of different ways. Don’t freak out, don’t get married to it. It’s not as easy as just opening a new Facebook account, especially now, since all of this issue that Facebook had with privacy data and all that kind of stuff recently came up.
So it’s going to be a little more challenging, but we’ll walk I’ll, walk you through the steps and as long as you follow these guidelines, you should be able to be successful and avoid these pitfalls. But I’m sharing this with you, because this is challenges that I’ve had. So, let’s go to that forum, and this is the former hair disable payments and ads manager and we’ll just go through it step-by-step.
If you believe your app account has been disabled by mistake, please provide us more information, so we can investigate this issue. Is this your ad account? Always yes, advertiser ad account choose the ad account that you want all right, you’re going to have one probably or two and we’ll talk about that in a little more than other articles, the the type of payment method paper Facebook does accept paypal, because PayPal is one Of that Facebook’s first founding investors, Peter Thiel, gave Mark Zuckerberg half a million dollars to start Facebook.
So that’s why they accept that’s one of the muses why they accept paypal, our credit card, if you either or you can, if we’re, if you’re using both for payments, you can check both boxes, I’m going to go with credit card, because that’s what I use are You, the owner of the financial and trade off, I always yes, who’s, the owner of the financial instrument I file very redundant but always say me, yes, owners first and last name.
It’s always going to be your first and last name. Okay, it’s always going to be yours. Owner’s email address always use the email address that is associated with the Facebook account that you’re signed into okay. Briefly, this describe why you’re, using their payment method, isn’t that retarded for the Nasdaq the third time about that question. So I just say: I’m using my own: have you tried to purchase apps on Facebook? Yes, please provide a brief explanation of your current ad campaign.
I am building up today. You might want to take notes on this, because this is what I tell them. This always works. I’m building up fans on my fan page to drive traffic to my e-commerce store period. That’s it! That’s all you need to put in that block. You can. You know vibrate on it, some more if you want, but that’s all I ever put on there and that’s usually works. Have you ever noticed? Have you noticed any irregular spend nope? Is the current location different from the billing country? No, your current location, if you’re, whatever country you’re in I’m in the United States, so it’s going to be United States billing, their payment billing method country, I’m in the United States to always make sure those two match.
If you’re using PayPal, it should be a problem. It’s a credit card same deal just make sure that they match these countries are different. Please explain why they are both the same and then they need a an ID of. Sometimes I use it usually in my passport. I upload my passport on here boom. I send that request in and that’s it that’s how you put your disable, add account request into Facebook and you give them a day or two, and usually they were they.
They they take a few hours honestly, sometimes to respond depending on what’s going on, they might respond within a few minutes and actually turn your your your payment payment manager back on. Sometimes it takes a few days. Sometimes they never respond. To always remember that you got to come back and do this. Okay, on your accounts now. The thing I want you to I want you to remember also is you’re the boss, okay you’re your own CEO.
So this is something that you have to take: control of. Every day, this has to be something on your list of priorities. What is getting in to your ads and looking at your ads every day, I’ve been running ads on Facebook since 2009. When I that’s, when I first started running ads on Facebook, I’ve been I’ve been running ads on Facebook for Shopify August September 11th will be three years since I’ve been primarily running ads for Shopify.
I’ve run ads for a host of different businesses, different ideas, different things and I hope to share some of these things that I’ve learned with you guys in this group. I know this is mainly about e-commerce, but I hope to actually be able to to explain to you how you can take this advertising information and shift it to anything that you want to do and allow you to be able to. You know have control of your income grow a successful business, take your own idea and take your idea and actually have your idea in making you money without having to go and slave working, for you know an hourly wage, so thanks for reading.
I hope this really helps if you guys know anybody that wants to learn how to do Shopify, we’re already at max for our beta testers for this group, meaning anybody else that wants to join this group they’re going to have to go through a sales page. There’s going to be an entry ticket, it’s going to be very low, mainly for a monthly subscription, really really low, because I want to do that. I want anybody to join, to really pay attention to the information and if sometimes you give people information for free and they don’t really pay any attention, so if they pay, if they pay for it, I I think they’re going to they’re going to better focus on The information – and it allows me to be able to do more for the group – you know, post, live events because I’m going to be putting this funds towards renting a hotel room.
You know help-help the members that come to meet with people in person to help them grow. Their accounts help people advertising it’s kind of like starting a fund to really help people that are in that really want to learn this and breakthrough to be able to do that. So we can all help each other grow, I’m willing to teach this stuff, and anybody. That’s really struggling that wants to learn and wants to take control, don’t be shy.
I mean I’ve invested in my education quite a bit.
Looking for a company that will have your back? Check out the video below:
With you case study articles. Today we have Peter Davis with us. He is a Twitter expert, a pro marketer and we’ve been spending some time. I’ve been showing him the software and he’s going to be doing it mostly talking I’m going to be answering questions, so I’m going to put a muzzle on myself and I’ll go ahead and share your screen.
Heater. Tell us a little bit about yourself in like 30 seconds or less. Basically, I am a internet. Marketer have been for many many many years now, currently getting involved with text marketing of created my own little program that helps with text marketing. So I like the idea of search triggers because it can help me write articles that are better than there are other people, so I can get them ranked.
So I want to pick your brain about the pro version of search triggers and see how I can use it to get the best subject to talk about on the topic of text marketing and i’m told that you’ll be able to show me how to get the Best one, so I assume I can just type in the box here: text marketing yeah. What is it that deep in quick thing which which is the best way to use okay, so the best thing to do is start off with quick right just to get the setting of the landscape all right so I’ll? Do that then yeah? Okay? So I can see from here that I’ve got some good rankings in like number 5 means it’s a great keyword and it’s very popular, obviously, because the word text marketing and has we have a lot of competition.
I imagine and then because I’m in Canada obviously shows up in Canada. Ok, so I see here that that Bing likes text marketing. Yet Google and Google like it, but then Google don’t care too much about the other terms. Is there a quick explanation for that? Yeah? You see Bing and Google, give different ways to different keywords so like if you sort by Bing rank you’ll, see that Canada, technology, terminology and platform being is more concerned about uh the things of business owners and business needs.
So that’s why text marketing technology is trending. More inside of the Bing search engine terminology is trending more inside the Bing search engine. Google is all about this whole free free free thing. So, if you, if you click on the google rank, just click on where it says google rank um, you know it. We’re thing of changing the word: Rank 2 rating um, probably the night better release. That’s going to be that way.
You can see that text, marketing, free text, marketing services, text, marketing laws and text marketing companies. Those are the top five things that Google considers important around. That time you know around that term, and so you can just sort on each column, and you can do this kind of real-time. Now you see that pages column is all 0 yeah yeah. Okay, so pages is the number of competing pages.
Now you can do this manually with a free version, as we showed in the previous article that’ll be uh, you can even click on the 0 in Google right under text marketing technology. Oh, that would type me to google, wouldn’t nothing yeah that brings up yeah. Go click on that it opens up a google search. It’s just a time-saving tool. Oh yeah! Well, right! When you can do seven billion results, yeah, okay, so 7 million results isn’t really useful because if you put that in quotes – which is what we covered in the previous article put it in quotes, let’s see how many drops it down to there’s a terminology.
Little fan actually forward: okay yeah. They have that talk that have that in the title here. Yes, yeah, that has an entitled so they’ll um one other thing close that window. You know the difference, another difference between the the pro and the beta, the free version. If you click on the blue doc, click on the blue dot next to technology or terminology, I guess we were using last night well, what does about here? 22 results.
It automatically fills in the in title and puts in the quotes, so it’s a real big time. Saving ready, yeah, definitely not equal rival, is kind of a ninja termed a lot of people in the industry know it basically says look guys. I don’t really care if it appears in the body text it it has to appear in the title. Exactly that’s much. Portant precio busted one now sequency text marketing technology has 22 results.
Now go go back. You close that window go back to search, trees and I’ll click on terminology, the blue dot. Oh, I say 7 results. Let’s take them better. No, this is no results found. Let’s see searching for entitled without the quotes, of course sure. So if I read my article so for already in that first color means we started using this. I already found that text marketing terminology might be a good title for my blog post, my absolutely Allen’s going to order anybody good anybody can use this knowledge by just understanding in title, colon and then putting stuff in quotes.
That’s right, you don’t need search triggers, but it saves you boatloads of time, which is why I have searched triggers as my homepage. Exactly as I start searching here, and I can search both Google both being at you know, Bing and Google. I can go right to the in title and what we’re building right now is your ability to tweet right from inside of zoo figures, that’d be cool. So what I want to know now is the exact button and the deep button.
Okay, if I use the same okay, we’ve decided that maybe check mark text marketing terminology might be my article, but we’re not sure yet there could be a better, better subject to use. So what does examine thing to hover on exact? It should bring up a little pop-up lover yeah, if checked it will use for the exact phrase. Okay Ron, hover, quick, keep stretching the number of page results via keywords, and that saves you search points, okay, cool right so so freely.
What I want to do was let’s go into the quick first, but did you want to cover exact? First, I was going to cover quick um while wearing quicklist, a quick, okay, so uncheck quick, uh-huh and then run the search again now we’re going to spend some credit. But there’s nothing checked is that okay right exactly yeah all right and okay, so you’ve run out of points. Luckily, um, okay, you wan na explain everyone by points.
What points are? Will I give you some more points? Yeah. I understand because I’m part of the case study group, the first users of it, that I don’t expend any points when I use search triggers. But what the points are for is because I understand what you were saying earlier, that some of the features of search triggers relies on another search engine that charges people for its data to be displayed, and I understand that search engine that gathers every better.
All the information from bing and google and correlates it in a way that can be used by companies as yourself, but unfortunately that costs money. So therefore, some of the free stuff we’ve done is free, but the deeper stuff will cost a point or two but or some points to do it. But fortunately, because we’re part of the weighted case, study group will get them for free, exactly yeah, and I understand I think early on, though you’re talking about when it launches the sep tember, that there’s three ways that people can can pay for the pro version.
They can get pay one time fixed price of one hundred, ninety seven dollars and they get 5,000 any time points and they can display more points as they need them or if they did a subscription, which is ninety seven dollars month. They actually get 9700 points recurring. So, every month they get na 1700, but I would assume that if I tell people about this search traders and their share and I put on facebook, do you give me points for that? Yeah we’re going to be doing a whole bunch of pre pre-launch activities, and so, if you share posts on Twitter, you put stuff on your facebook we’re going to be giving you bonus points.
That’s awesome! We’re going to be doing trainings for people when you read the training, you’ll get some points. When you add a feature, you write something about it. You’ll get some points, so we’re really wanting people to start engaging with this tool, and you know the September 9th is our launch date. We’re concurring we’re doing this concurrently with a big destiny launch I’m actually, I’m working with.
You know on the promotion of the destiny launch behind the scenes with some colleagues and I’m very excited about about. You know that how just you know, then, will we learn from search triggers? Sometimes one or two words makes all the world of a different God God. So let’s have a look now, or did you give me some point? Well, you know thing. Is I I’m trying to find you in here and uh? Oh okay, I’m not finding you in here so um, maybe in the private google chat you’ll have to put in the boy.
Have you stopped sharing your screen and give me your email address all right. You could say that yeah yeah stop sharing the screen, so I stopped yeah yeah so go go ahead and in the google chat or skype or whatever you want to send me. Your email address, which is the email address you registered with search triggers because i’m not seeing you in live in the register here and guys. If you’re reading this article and you’d like to participate in the beta.
I know it’s a cheesy off inform we’re going to be updating it, probably as soon as today or tomorrow, but just go to search triggers calm and fill it out have to confirm your email address. You know the dog and pony show and then make sure that we can. We can get access and keep you updated with all the release information. It’s cool Peter yeah. I put the I’m, put the email address on it: okay, oh oh, okay, yeah! I saw that in there by didn’t, recognize you, okay, okay, we’re all right.
You are good I’ll, go back and share your screen yep! I have it’s not showing up. Okay, yeah! I see it remus crackle, alright! So now I want to do what we’re going to do now is: do none of the boxes are checked? We just put in the word straightaway. Let’s see what happens yeah, you probably have to sign out and sign back in again. Oh ok, just trays with his life, so what yeah and while a peter is signing back in, if you guys have any questions and you’re reading this hangout, there’s a question box right below where this hangout is taking place, feel free to ask us any questions.
Oh, you know we are developing this tool uh as we speak, and your input is greatly greatly appreciated. As are you, we’ve had a lot of people, say God great tool, love it love it. You know it’s grant st. You know that’s great and we love and appreciate that, but if it’s more specific it’s better, if you say like you know, I started using search triggers in my blog traffic increased by twenty percent or I’m you know, III, just like one of our people um.
You know before they they sent literally they they they. They use such triggers to develop a trending book title for the new. You know for actual print book. Also they were just about to go, publish their book before it. You know they realized. Oh my god. This one word is way more popular, so I’m sorry yeah. So here we have the page camp yeah all right. So now, if I am, we were looking at technology and terminology so there’s actually, according to the search engines, no pages that deal with terminology, okay right, then right but 3300 that deal with the word technology, yeah and so sort by the page column go ahead and Click on pages, and it sorts by that cause, you can click, it click it again.
You can go ah save steps up the blue domain 0 or unknown. So that means what there’s not enough pages all well. It means that uh, we don’t have any evidence that that, under the you know, under that phrase, that there is, if there’s enough, okay, but you think text marketing laws is 22 pages yeah the color. Let’s talk about the colors yeah. These are orders of magnitude, and we did that because when you have really really long lists, okay, uh, it’s really easy to just sort of like scan through the list and ways what one of the things you want to look for.
Something has lots of traffic, but doesn’t have a lot of pages. So, let’s, let’s, let’s run the pro version – real, quick on this, all right. Okay, so what do I do? Allow us up? Oh okay and click on pro analysis and then run the analysis. Alright cool and what am I looking at and there’s drill costs 11 points you see that yeah lemurian and check for now. Okay, but what happens if I just what? If I check the otherwise exact match prices? Yeah, that’s a future feature that takes quite a bit of explaining okay.
Well, let’s not worry about it. Yeah that doesn’t pretty quickly. Doesn’t it yeah now it’s doing is it’s taking the process we cover before it’s doing all that work for you behind the scenes. Wow, look at that – let’s not switch to advanced few just yet. Let’s just take a look at this okay, it’s saying the text. Marketing companies is a much better bang for your buck. Remember we talked about technology, yes in the previous article.
Yes, well that’s great, but there’s not enough people looking for it brage! Okay text marketing companies is a much better blog post, even though it’s competitive, there’s more traffic under it and it gets the highest score right now: text: marketing, free, okay, that’s their text, marketing services! Again, but you see the only one: that’s got a green dot is terminology, yes, and so what I would do, Peter that is scroll down to UM the keywords and URLs below, and I would grab that and give it to your assistant.
Oh, ok, ok and I would write blog posts on each of those topics yep. Now let me show you one more thing that you can do. Ok, you can click on them. Don’t click on advanced. Yet I know it’s very tempting. Well, you’re not going to show that in this, don’t do it don’t do it? Please don’t do it put it in a public article but um, but just just break out very briefly so far text, marketing, terminology or text marketing technology are the front-runners to write a post about yeah.
But this. But before you jump ahead, let me show you a little secret: that’s only in the pro version. Click on the red dot under 2.41 – Oh see. So what’s that show me well with that’s showing you is a unfiltered, unbiased view of the top ten people. That is not influenced by um, let you say it’s not influenced by geography, cookies, your profile or all those other things that everyone else is being influenced by read.
This is a raw data, so two raw data. So if you want to go, look at you know like you, might you might not find best text, marketing reviews and ratings of SMS marketing yeah? What I would do is click on that link and look at the article. Okay. I me know: if you go to Google, you may not find this site, and this is the Nugget. This is a gold in sight raw and you want to reach out to those people, and you want to tweet about them, and you want to get friends with them because they’re the people that are writing all the reviews, in other words, they’re the big kid on The block they’re the number one they’re, the number one people exactly so I shall contact six people and talk about mine mine product exactly and you want to put your product and make sure your product is featured here.
That’s why the pro version is really for pros. Yes and then you said, there’s a business version as well, so there’ll be some more for the business. What about a possible blog post right all the time? The business version has a wizard we’re working on a wizard. So all this data and this behind-the-scenes stuff, it’s just going to say, hey what are you looking for hey? What’s your industry pick 1, 2, 3, 4 X Y Z, and it just does all that stuff for you right but, like I said in earlier, everyone who’s part of our beta group until September.
Ninth when we launch – but you know everybody gets access to all of the features – the biz Pro all the versions right here, while we’re testing. So, yes, it’s really it’s really an opportunity, and if you want to be a case study, you can also visit our website and get information more information about becoming a case study. You got to have a business, you got, ta, ask them traffic and guys you got ta have at least a you know, a domain relevancy or well.
You know rank of like 20 or 30. So so what do I go now? We’re not go now to find out, which is text, marketing technology still a good place for me to write about well, it’s very competitive and doesn’t have any traffic, so I would say no right. Okay, if I wanted to play for my treasure, everything has a score of zero is because there’s no traffic under it yeah, but if I paid um, google low or being some you know, if I wanted to run some Edwards that’d be like really really cheap.
I’d. Imagine because there’s no competition for it. So could I get a pic that way if I paid for it uh, you would be building your own traffic and you’d be a trendsetter and that you know we could come back here in a you know. Let’s say you did that right, yeah, we could come back here in a month and all of a sudden you would start seeing oh yeah there’s some traffic under this, where the traffic data from google or from bing is only coming from people who are bidding on Ads, if no one’s bidding on God, then they don’t have any traffic data.
Exactly i’m giving you ND. Oh yes, that’s true, so often pay pennies in the dollar and get some good traffic. And then yes did you start the train myself? That’s pretty cool yeah! You want to start the trend yourself and then what that does. Is it’s going to drive the price up? Ah, but it’s also going to start trending them yeah yeah. So you get out three thousand three hundred pages under that yeah.
Now, let’s talk about deep okay, so I pick up date, yeah click on deep and then just text marketing technology. Yeah, let’s see what happens. Hopefully it won’t break now, whatever you use a deep search, you don’t want to do to you want to already be on a niche okay. So why are we looking at here? So you can see search triggers, found, 127, more results and all I can see them all. I say these are the top ones.
Are they yeah? These are the top ones, so Australia, articles, awards, agency, blog bulletins and go ahead and click see them all and now sort my page 60, okay, there’s any yeah honey. So well of those of that thing, there’s only three that talk about the blog businesses, Wow business opportunities only have a one page. So you really could you could really dominate the field with one yeah if you could tweet about it, so one of the things you’ll be able to do is like you’ll click, click text, marketing technology, business, opportunity, yeah, click that and you’ll see it copies it to The upper box – yes, okay, there’s going to be a button to the right of quick or, however, the the UI will be built that will allow you to tweet this directly also price.
Now, let’s take a look at how these numbers compared with instant like right now we’re searching all the web, but let’s just only look in terms of Twitter and let’s just you know, for now: let’s gear, without Scientology, X, marketing technology, business opportunity yeah, we get rid Of business opportunity because there’s no one going to be on that get rid of business, opportunity, okay and then go ahead and run that and that’ll tell you how many numbers yeah see see again: it’s it’s just there’s, there’s literally no but a project deep.
But let’s go exact: a little quicker doesn’t yeah, because it’s few it’s performing fewer searches. So there’s one person: let’s see you is what I don’t see. I go ahead and click the little click click, the Bing rank. Click click. The number five under Bing rang. Okay, now what so? Let’s go to marketing technology on twitter, and you probably want to become friends with it because he’s the guy that is in twitter.
That is also 1 pages, one user is that what it means yeah, but look at he’s, got 51. Follow of fifty one thousand followers, so he’d be a great person to know so I start following him yeah. So what about um but back in search triggers yeah, this page one? Does that just mean? There’s one user there’s only one Twitter yeah, because you, you know Twitter pages themselves, ah are already highly highly indexed both in Google and Bing they’re really really good for SEO rock.
So if I tweeted something about text marketing technology, what would happen I? You would be um you’d start showing up as a leader in that raw, and, I would say, that’s a great place to start. Definitely definitely quite fast. It’s like up focusing search figures is not just for SEO it’s more about social media and about establishing yourself a leader um. How can we show up stop the screen share, so I’ll stop the screen share.
Now you know no, don’t stop this creature. I want to make sure that we covered everything that you want to see in the pro version like. Why do you think people should upgrade to the pro version other than 0 offset out of the rd development costs to get early access? They get. You know all right in tools, I mean. Why would someone do this because you’ve got so much information here? This is awesome, so I’ve found out if what, in the few minutes that we’ve been talking, that we found a great article, we can start writing about text marketing technology, which is what I have in my program.
So if I started writing articles and blogging and doing Google+ posts and social media stuff about the technology behind text, marketing or whatever, then I’ll quite quickly become a leader in the field and be known as off one of a better word of guru on the topic Of text marketing technology so and that saved me hours of time, I’m having to go through the search engines to do that. Am I right, yeah yeah yeah yeah keep going so I’m suggesting I’m suggesting that anybody who’s considering search traders gets the pro version, at least because they’ve got to find out so much more information and get so much better results and it’s all in one spot, not Having to change then on the free version, I had to change screens all the time and put commas around stuff and inverted commas, and I wasn’t quite sure what that was all about.
But now it’s quite clear that you know if I want to start writing something. I’ve got all my tags here that I can use. So for me, it’s a no brainer, and I thank you big for creating it you’re welcome. Do you want to see one more secret spot all right, one more say curriculum only for people who stayed at the very end of the article. Oh okay, all right. Do you see those little two arrows yep in the box? Click them yep the secret spot.
Oh okay, you can upload your keywords. You can also upload your traffic data, not know what is what is traffic data? Well, that would be your export of your traffic reports from any of the major advertising. So then, you can find the best ROI on your ad spend and search triggers will be doing complete analysis on that. That’s what we’re covering only in prose excellent, excellent! Well, we’ll do a article about that.
I think’s in the near future. Yeah, that’s a article in itself just how to analyze traffic data yeah, because you know when you upload your traffic data, you now have access and to um. You know like you want to. You want to sort of break things down. Okay, um for everyone is reading. This who’s in our existing subscriber you’re, going to be getting an e-book from us, and customers are going to get a deluxe e-book that we’re going to be selling, for.
I think ninety-seven bucks you’re going to get that free now. This ebook goes through step-by-step on all these tools, all this stuff and all that you know it’s going to it sort of lays out a one month program using search triggers awesome. Okay, so you can go step by step and plan your week. It sort of breaks down your month into four weeks. Here’s what you do the first week! Here’s what you do the second week is: if you do the thing you do in your feet, this process every single month and we’re going to be evolving.
That process, as we get more of our case studies together great so you’ve, seen everything you have any questions you can you stop scaring a screen so yeah? No, I’m done I’m fooling with this now just awesome. I thought it was going to be much difficulty. No, I thought it was going to be really difficult to learn it, but it’s not it’s. Actually. I mean it looks difficult, but it’s not once you start using it and from what you’ve just said, you’re going to be basically holding our hands.
So it’s not just the program you’re getting you’re, getting a whole system in place, which is makes it very good because, obviously in our SEO – and it’s quite scary for most business owners or most people on the internet. But if you’re, basically search chickens is going to create a whole course or hand-holding exercise, I would like to say then: yes, it’s going to be great. You can’t go wrong. Yeah! We’re our whole focus is how to rank number one in all.
The search engines get under a niche phrase right, great content that gets shared and then trend that content and then spend the money on both there’s three things. I’m going to tell you where you’re. Actually, four places: you should always be spending your money on advertising. As soon as you write a blog post mm-hmm, you want to bid a little bit use some of the keywords that, in some of the training in search triggers and go out and spend some money in Google, first thing: Twitter and Facebook for places.
Okay, the money you spend there on ranking your posts will cause you to be a trendsetter. Once you become a trend, setter and people start sharing your article, you don’t need to spend money on those things. Anymore, pause the ads and go create a new article and then promote that ad become a market leader in your expertise, search engines, love great content, but more than great content. They love curated content.
They love content that shows that you’ve taken the time to look at what other people have written about and that you’re actually adding value. What to what people are saying. That’s my mission is to let me let me just give you a declaration here. Our mission at search triggers is to set the bar a lot higher for producing better content and setting the bar higher to being the ultimate keyword, research tool that everyone uses: news agencies, market research firms, article writers, bloggers, Huffington, Post writers, CNN writers.
They can quickly piece together exactly what’s trending in the media, so that they can find the best title. You know, like people would spend years becoming a great title writer for like the Rolling Stone, whereas search triggers can show you in seconds exactly what’s trending. Under that phrase, we’ve had authors and writers and book publishers use search triggers to come up with just the right titles for their books.
Titles, for there are articles about the book, so these are the applications. It’s it’s it’s it’s a huge breadth of knowledge. So, thank you Peter for joining us 2nite juarez. I’m excited thank you yeah, yeah and um, and if you would like to be part of our case study, the way to do that is to visit her website. Assert triggers calm, sign up, read your email like a hawk and then contact us directly become a customer first sign up for the case study.
Let us know about your business. I will check you out to see how much traffic you’re getting because it’s very public knowledge. I was dropping you’re getting and where you are and then um, let’s see if we can increase your traffic and your sales by twenty to thirty percent. That will say a lot more than me sitting here doing hangouts with with people it doesn’t really matter. If I can rank, I already know how to rank.
If I can teach you how to rank that’s where it’s going to be gold, that’s where it’s going to hit and that’s what’s going to make all the difference in the world. So on that, I’m Vic live long and prosper, and I will see you guys in the next article, take care and look forward to having you be our next case study in search triggers Aloha
This is uh. This is our website. I’m going to go to a home page okay. So there is the site, earth grid, calm and when I’m now goos I’m going to go into google and i’m going to type in Google Adwords Keyword tool or you can just Google Google Adwords Keyword tool. Okay. Now it gets you right into the Google AdWords tool. So this is some stuff that you probably most people, will basically just type a word or phrase in here.
What I’m going to do is I’m going to take this page right here now, i’m going to copy, because our homepage right, i’m just going to paste that right in this box under the website field. Now you can do this with any website any competitor, any product that you’re trying to sell you just pop in the URL of the website, supposing you’re selling a clickbank product just pop into you or all that what’s going to do, is it’s going to fetch all The keywords right from that site and populate the keyword list down below now.
The other thing you want to do is you see where it says broad. I want you to uncheck that and go to exact we’re going to uncheck. You have to actually click exact before you can uncheck broad, but I want you to emphasize this thing. It says exact right over here, okay and so then I’m going to go over here and I’m the type in the key. I hate these captions there we go now you see. What’s really cool is we got all these keywords? Build a website make a website domain, name, search, free web site hosting.
The next thing you want to do is go over here and search by global monthly searches, and you see web hosting. This is how many times per month, people are searching for the exact phrase. Now, if I go too broad – and I do it again – you see you have a website – 100 million websites online website, all that data is kind of useless, because it’s so broad and so vast. You probably won’t even do this. What are you doing, PPC or any kind of campaign? What I like to do is uncheck the broad and just go and exact, and that tells you exactly: okay, there’s 135,000 people searching for web hosting every month, website, design, website, templates domain names, blah blah blah blah blah all right, that’s good! Then what you can do now um, I let’s see if I can do this, I’m going to go grab all this stuff cuz.
You know, google won’t let you actually export this stuff, but you can copy that to your clipboard and then I’m going to tell you you know you want to fire up a very free tool called open office. You don’t have already have it already installed it to go to openoffice.Org, okay, we’re already five minutes through it. I’m almost done demonstrating what I was going to show you, which is really cool. This is from a 90 minute article, and this is all I learned from this 90 minute article.
So one of the things I’m working on here is delivering 10 minute. Quick BAM apply it stop this article. If you want to and go back, go to openoffice.Org and download this product, it’s a free product, it you know. If you have office, you can do that too, but it may not. You know I find that open office works better for by copying and pasting stuff. In that you like lift it from somewhere else without getting all the forest, so I’m going to go here to UM to op OpenOffice calc.
If you could also use a google docs as well fill the other key here is in there yeah yeah. You could use google docs, but I don’t necessarily want to let Google know that I’m lifting all either because all the London up – and I also what I’m trying to do – is keep a local copy of it. So, okay, so now I have my spreadsheet here and the first call of a ducking, so I could just delete that and I can expand this column out right here and now here I got all my statistics right, so I’ve got my 16 keywords.
This is how to 35,000 local 40,000 okay and now, if I want to do a PPC campaign, I now know what keywords to go after all right. So then I could save this. I’m just going to save this to my desktop and i’m going to call this a web hosting keywords and we’ll go back to that now. I’ve got now got all my keywords that I’m going to go after all right, so this is very, very useful because then the other thing is they: supposing, if you, if you’re buying a some pay-per-click ads, all you need to do is copy this column, and then You could open up like notepad, okay, paste it in right.
What happened there copy what the heck’s going on? Oh, it’s at the very bottom there. It is see that now I have all these keywords now you can grab these keywords and paste them into your PPC campaign and by those keywords, and we can do another training, how not you how to do paid advertising that wasn’t the purpose of this. I just want to show you how to use Adwords and what the distinction is now.
Why would you want to use AdWords? Well, generally speaking, if you don’t have a keyword, that’s at least like 30 or 40 thousand dollar, thirty dollar thirty or forty thousand s articles like 30 or 40 thousand searches per month. It’s probably not worth your time to write a blog post to really kind of focus on that keyword, even with PPC, alright. So on any questions I’m going to this is what I want to impart to you.
It’s a very, very simple thing. Just to summarize again number one pop in URL or you can put in the word or phrase here, but I like tears because if Dutchess all the key words right from the site. So if you’re, if, let’s say, for example, you’re writing a book and – and you want to come up with some keyword, ideas for your book will find a competitor’s book that the best seller pop those keywords in there and then use this to figure out what keywords You want to target for not just for getting your basic broad you’re, giving your broad-based keywords down and then i’m going to pick something like something in the thirty forty thousand range.
Something like you know, create a website. Okay and then i’m going to go on to the next tool with that n equal any questions before we uh that useful. Yes, that’s great, i’m sure it is alright. So, if you’re reading this article I’d like you to take action – and none of this really matters, if you don’t have a reason for using it, so if you’re selling an affiliate product, you want to use this information to buy some ads takes, you know, take some Kind of action by those ads or contact the person that sent you to this article so that they can show you a little bit more about how to do uh how to apply this to your business.

V Bakke advocate Korean economy.
To ask her about free tools and programs that V, Bock and SBA have to offer for veterans all right. So first a bit of background. So in 2017, we launched grow at Google, an initiative to help people across the United States grow their skills, careers and businesses by providing the best of Google’s training and tools. Specifically, we’ve launched products and programs that help the veteran and military spouse community and we’ll be sharing some today, as well as resources to learn more at the end of the sliced ring in today’s session.
We’re going to talk about a free tool that businesses can use right away to get started connecting with customers online. It’s called Google, my business and, if you’re new to Google, my business, don’t worry! That’s why we’re here today and I’ll start by sharing an overview. So, Google, my business, offers businesses a way to manage how their information appears across Google search in maps. So what is called a business profile all right, so try to picture this when we first moved to the Bay Area a few months ago, my family wanted to go out to eat all right.
So here we are we’re. In an air B & B. We have no food in the house new to the area and just like so many of many pcs adventures, we had no idea what was around us and keep in mind. I’ve got a family of six, so we can’t just go anywhere to go eat. So I open Google Maps and typed in restaurants near me and when I came, what popped up was a bunch of business profiles for businesses that were local to our area.
And so we found a quaint French comfort food cafe and had pictures and ours directions and a phone number which is important because I needed to call them to see if they could accommodate my large family I’ll. Just leave it to say that we went they could accommodate us. We had a great time and is now a favorite of ours that we now follow and we get updates from all of that is through these business profiles.
So research shows that over 90 percent of customers looking for business information through search engines are looking for specific information like business hours, promotions or available appointments. This is important because how a business’s information appears in search results can impact when how or why potential customers engage with you in context of our discussion today, of how businesses can use a business profile to connect with local customers.
So all I add that not only our customers are looking for specific, specific information about a business. They are looking for specific information about local businesses. There are billions of local searches made every month and more than 30 % of all mobile searches are related to location. So what does this mean all right? You have customers who are looking for specific information and largely looking for this type of information about a business in their community.
So today we’re going to discuss how to connect those dots using features available through Google, my business, but before we dive in it’s important to note that Google, my business was designed for businesses who have a physical location or do business face-to-face with their customers. Ok, but if you have a business or thinking about starting one that doesn’t meet one of these two categories – you’re fine, there still be opportunities to gain tangible takeaways through today’s topic, all right.
So this is the part where I tell you what I’m about to tell you. In today’s workshop. We are going to discuss how businesses can use Google my business to establish a local online presence, build a loyal customer base, highlight what makes a service or project unique and use insights to help drive more in store or online traffic. Alright, so you have options available to you. This is where having a free business profile on Google can help.
Customers are 38 percent, more likely to visit and 29 percent more likely to consider purchasing from businesses that have complete profile information before diving into the features of which can help your business connect with customers locally. Let’s first take a review of the anatomy of a business profile on Google when a customer discovers your business profile. The initial view they see is your business overview in a business overview.
Consumers can find info about your business like address contact info hours of operation, business logos, photos and more. This overview allows potential customers quick access to the best ways to connect with your business through Google, my business, you have access to a manager dashboard where you can update all the information shown here. So 96 % of customers are more likely to visit a business that has hours of operations on a Google search or match results.
Page 90 % of customers are more likely to visit a business. I had a phone number on a Google search map results, page and 90 % of customers are more likely to be more likely to visit a business that has photos on a Google search or Maps results. Page. Ensuring this information is actively managed can help increase the odds of connecting with new customers. A recent update to business profiles on Google allows for businesses the opportunity to include branded images like logos in their profile.
Through this update verify, businesses can create a short name or custom name for their business profile, to make it easier for customers to find them. When businesses shared this short name, URL customers can enter it into their browser. Search bar using the G page. Slash your custom name to go directly to your business profile. Another great way to stand out to local customers is by using attributes.
Attributes like customers see what your business has to offer, such as whether our restaurant offers Wi-Fi or indoor seating. Some attributes, like women-led or outdoor seating, can be highlighted as badges when customers find your business on mobile for our veteran led businesses. Reading today, we created a specific veteran led business attribute to let your community know that your business is run by a veteran.
So all of these features are great, but what if a business doesn’t have a website for consumers to visit once they found your business profile? It’s okay, Google. My business includes the option to create a free, simple website generated with the information from your business profile. So it’s a great starting point of being online perfect for small businesses who do not yet have a web presence in creating a website with Google.
My business takes about five minutes. There are three steps to creating a website with Google. My business one-click website from your Google, my business dashboard and once you do this, Google, my business, will pull the information from your profile to populate the website. You have the option, then customize some elements of the site, including like the theme, tags and photos and when you’re ready to go live.
You click the publish button. These websites also come with a free, URL and hosting you can customize your website address by entering the first part of the domain name, and it will automatically be followed by dot business site. So if you entered the name statius bakery, your website address would be statius bakery, dot business site. Alternatively, you can register your own domain name. This option is not free and you’ll need to register the domain Google domains, but if you already have a registered domain name even with a registrar other than Google, you can use it for your new Google site as well.
Okay, so let’s discuss a couple of creative ways: businesses could use the website feature in Google, my business. If you wanted to build a website for a hair salon, you would first consider how you would want your customer to engage with this. Some of the questions you might ask yourself include whether the what are the deciding factors that a potential customer would use when choosing a salon, do they want to see before-and-after photos? Do customers like to read reviews? Do customers prefer to make appointments or just walk in what customers prefer to see pricing on individual services? These are all the things that can be solved through the website template.
For example, you could showcase before-and-after photos and include reviews from your business profile on Google, so customers can see proof of the quality work that you do next, you can include a book now call to action button. So it’s important to note one out of two customers that want to schedule an appointment when searching for our business online are looking for way to to schedule that appointment.
So so one of the things that really came out to me was when I first got out of the military. I need to get a haircut. I couldn’t just go on base and go get. My haircut like I had been. I had to go, find a real barber, and so I actually used the Google search and found a profile for a business near me and the one that I chose for me was the one that I could schedule the appointment right there in the in the profile.
It was great and Google works with third party scheduling software providers. Sorry, Google works with third party scheduling software providers to enable online booking through Google search maps and reserve with Google a service that allows people to book appointments and reservations directly within the search engine found at google.Com. Slash map, slash reserve, and the last feature that you could use to utilize would be pricing information to include info about the cost of services.
Another thing that you can do is use photos and bright and vibrant ones are best to showcase products in the gallery. On this slide, you can see how a bakery showcases examples of how the food looks me. Personally, I definitely prefer more pictures of donuts and if I were still thinking of the hair salon I may want to show, before and after pictures to demonstrate my good work. Choosing the right photos can go a long way in helping customers feel confident that the service types and quality of work you provide online with their goals.
Another feature that I want to point out is custom domains. Google, my business, will allow you a free domain, which includes the dot business dot site at the end of the business name. However, you can you may decide it, you want to purchase a custom domain which is shorter and when thinking about which domain is best for your business, a few the best practices include making it easy to type keeping.
It short using keywords that your customers are already using to find you avoid numbers and hyphens and be memorable. Those are just a few ways that you can customize a website for your business through Google. My business, in addition to the features I just mentioned, businesses can also customize their website using a pre-designed templates. These templates come in a variety of layouts and color schemes, allowing you to select one that supports your brand guidelines.
Alright. So in this section we’re going to discuss ways to help you build a loyal customer base using welcomed offers all right. So when people follow your business, they become a follower and they will see your updates and offers and photos across Google and in there, for you feed. When you go into Maps, business owners can check out the customers tab to learn more about their followers into Google.
My business app the benefit here is that this creates an additional blog for business owners to reach their customers, and then you have the Welcome offer. You can attract people to your business with a welcomed offer. Now what this is is when they click follow on apps. Are search they’ll get an offer such as five dollars off your first meal, and then they can redeem it in person. The benefit here is you’re giving users another reason to visit you again going back to the are stat, which said that 90 % of customers are looking for business information through search engines are looking for specific information like business hours, promotions or available appointments promotions serve as A great way to capture our consumer attention and convert them into customers.
Here’s what that process looks like for your customer, so a user follows a business that has a welcomed offer set up. The user is informed of what it means to follow your business via pop-up. The user can choose a dismiss to offer or choose to save it, and then the user can go back to the business profile and view the offer when they are ready to use it. Alright, there’s three ways, so we can create an offer all right.
So the first one is click the Create a welcome offer from the home screen. I find that to be very aptly named. The second way is to set up a welcome offer in the profile editor screen, and the third way is to click create offer during the first time use prompt. Now that we’ve decided to create an offer when we’ve navigated our way to the starting point. There are just four steps in creating the offer.
The first one is to enter information about the offer. Next, you want to add a photo, and then third, you want to add a title and description to what your offer is. The last one is to view the welcome offer and double check the details, and then click publish another useful feature in Google. My business is the posts feature which allows merchants to post live updates directly on their business profile.
We briefly discussed post earlier in this workshop posts serve as a great way to keep loyal customers up-to-date on new products or service launches or other good information for your business. So when customers have more access to your business information and updates, they can make better decisions. As they browse, this allows you to directly communicate with your local customers to improve your customer experience with timely information to promote your sales, specials special events, news and new offers.
This also allows you to engage with your customers through articles and photos. Post can be created from your computer or from your phone on your computer sign into Google my business or open the Google, my business app on your phone or tablet. If you have multiple locations after you sign in you’re, going to need to select the location you’d like to manage and then click posts from the menu at the top of the page choose the type of post you’d like to create from the options.
Given the options to add photos, articles text, events offers and a button to your post appear, there click each field and enter the relevant information to see a preview of your post click preview and, if you’re happy with your preview in the top right click publish and If you’d like to change your post in the top left, click back edit, your draft until you’re, ready to publish and then click publish a few ways to use posts, though, are like a what’s new post.
What’s new post is one that provides general information about your business. You can include a photo article link, a call to action, button or other information. For example, a restaurant could make a post to promote a new menu item or in this example, honest Seoul. Yoga announced a new yoga studio, location, product post or the post that emphasize a specific product that your business sells. Product posts require a title, a photo or article.
You can then also include a call to action, button and other information, and then we have offer pose offer posts are ones that provide promotional sales or offers from your business offer posts require a title and a start and end date. A view offer call to action. Button is automatically added to pose and you can also include a photo a article, a coupon code, a link as well as terms and conditions with that pose.
This is a great seasonal. This is a great method for getting seasonal offers out there. One more idea: you can use poast to highlight important business information. This last post shows on insole yogas hours of operation, and you can create a post like this and include additional information that might help customers. So, for example, last year, specifically my family, on Black Friday, we were out trying to do some shopping.
You know get an early start to the season and trying to figure out the hours of operation for not just stores, but also restaurants, that we were in the vicinity of was really difficult. Unless you went to the store and saw the sign in the window. But the using this post, you can announce to all your followers. What your hours of operation are on those special days posts appear in your business profile and search and maps.
They you can create posts from Google, my business app on your phone or tablet or from the web dashboard using a laptop or desktop. You can also see how posts are influencing potential customers by reviewing their activity from the Google. My business dashboard, which draw it brings us to our last topic today. So our final topic today is how a business can use the insights feature in Google, my business to drive in-store and online traffic.
Many customers find businesses through Google search and maps. Google. My business insights focuses on how customers find your listing on search and maps and what they do after they find it think of this as an understanding the story of your customer, where they’re from and how they come to interact with your business. Ok, so there’s a lot of different types of insights. Some of the insights provides you different ways to understand how customers interact with your listing, so the the first one how customers find your profile.
It shows how many customers found you in a direct search. In other words, they search for your business name or address versus a discovery search, which is where they saw for a category a product or service, and your profile happened to appear. The next one is search queries which is available on the web version, but not available on the app to view search queries show you the queries that were used to find the business on Google, where customers found you on Google, Google search versus Google Maps the next One is customer actions, so this shows you what searchers did once they found your profile in Google.
The actions include that they visit your website. Did their request request directions that they call you? Did they just view your photos? The next one is Direction. Requests you’ll see your location pinned on the map and a heat map that shows the most popular places from which people ask Google Maps for driving directions to your address. The total number of requests, broken down by city or neighborhood are displayed as well.
The next insight is phone calls when and how how often searchers called your business via the Google business profile on Google, you can view trends by day of the week or time of day, and then the last one will talk about today’s photos. This is the number of photos associated with your profile and how often their view compared to your photos of businesses similar to yours, all right, so we’re going to dive in a bit into three of these available insights and so in the insights tab.
You can track common terms and search trends for your business. These queries should help you create better pose with Google and even ads to engage your customers search. Queries focus on the terms that your customers use to find your business on local search and maps. You’ll see the queries used in the last week last month, or even the last quarter, but to protect users. Privacy you’ll only see the queries that meet our privacy threshold all right.
So the next section here shows how customers behave after they found your listing on Google. The graph shows you how many customers completed the following types of actions when viewing your listing that they visit the website. A customer views your website, and this is displayed as website actions on the bulk report. Did they request your directions? This is where a customer requested directions to your business, and this is displayed as directions.
Actions on the bulk report did they call you. This is clearly where a customer called your business and displays as phone call actions on the bulk report and then there’s a total actions. The total customer actions for website directions and phone to view how many customers completed an action on a specific day. You simply need to select the data you’re interested in and so on. The desktop you just place the cursor over the day and on mobile you just tap the day and to the right of the graph click, the checkboxes to turn on or off the various filters.
Now the graph displays a total number of times anyone clicked one of the actions so whether they just clicked request, directions or place a call. This is going to show you any one that clicked it. So this means that single user can request directions to a business 100 times in a single day, and we would show you that a hundred requests were made in that one day. The next section here shows where customers are when they request directions to your business.
So on the map displayed you’ll, see your location pinned and the popular places your customers are when are are when they ask Google Maps for directions to your address. The total number of requests, broken down by city or neighborhood are displayed as well. You can zoom in and out on the map using the controls in the bottom right corner. Now the graph displays a number of unique users in each source, location, so by postcode or city or even country.
So this means that a single user can request directions to business 100 times in a time period, but we would only show one request for that person. Okay, in today’s workshop, we discussed how businesses can use Google my business to establish a local online presence, build a loyal customer base, highlight what makes a service or product unique and help drive more in-store and online traffic for hands-on support.

Google, / veteran lead as a reminder.
If you have questions you can get those questions answered using the hashtag hash vet LED livestream for a chance. I have your questions. Answered live next up, we’ll chat with karina conley from the veteran business outreach center, which is partially funded by the Small Business Administration, about the importance of National Veterans, Small Business Week and additional tools and resources available to the veteran and small business community.
But first, let’s take a look at a veteran, led, small business story featuring Chris Nolte Army veteran and founder of electric bike company propel bikes. My name is Chris Nolte, I’m the founder of propel bites throughout school. I didn’t really have all that much direction. I thought the idea of going into the military when I returned from overseas, I returned with the back injury. I really spent most of my time at home, just kind of feeling broken.
A friend of mine got an electric bike that built went up for myself and then suddenly, I’m mobile again. So I ended up starting this electric bike business and I knew that if I was to grow this business, so it’s going to do it all on the web. Recently, we added the bet led attribute: you’ve actually seen an increase of business specifically for people that want to support veteran owned businesses.
The first year we sold about 25 bikes, and last year we sold about a thousand everybody that found us. They found us on Google. What I do today, it’s very fulfilling it’s kind of a new mission for me and welcome back and wow. That was an awesome story Congrats to Chris and all of his success would propel bikes. Now we want to welcome our special guest Karina Connelly, who serves as a chief executive officer for the veterans business Outreach Center serving California and Nevada, so welcome Karina yeah.
Can you tell us a little bit about yourself, the Small Business Administration, your work with V Bock and the importance of National Veterans Small Business Week? Absolutely, and thank you so much for having me on today to celebrate the National Veterans Small Business Week. You know it’s just just a little fun fact that there’s over 2.9 million veteran businesses out there in our great nation that contributors over 1 trillion dollars over 1 trillion dollars with a revenue to our local economy.
So imagine that as a whole. So again, I am really humbled and honored to serve as a CEO for the veterans business Outreach Center. We are a 501 C 3 nonprofit organization were partially funded to the US Small Business Administration and the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development. Our program is really designed to be able to assist veterans in their initiatives to either start sustain or expand a small businesses initiative.
So the services that we offer are complementary because they’re paid by your public tax dollars and there’s three forms of services that we offer. The first one is: we offer complimentary one-to-one small business, consulting services, so let’s say, for example, you’re a veteran and you’re coming to our organization and you’re looking to either start a business. So what our process is is that we are designed to take a look at you as a person as a whole and identify what your learning style is, and then our counselors are trained to adapt to what your learning style is.
The reason why we do that is because of the fact that we want to alleviate starting a business can be really stressful and, with stress, is fear right. So we want to be able to alleviate that emotion called we call it the false evidence that appears real mentality, so we can adapt to whatever your learning style is to assist you in your endeavor to to do the evaluation, a reality therapy of starting a business Or if you’re an existing business and you’re looking to grow, or it is to seyn or to put together as a session plan, we will also adapt to whatever your business needs are, and our consulting services are done in a couple of different capacities.
The first one is, it can be telephonically done or we can do. We use our WebEx where we can actually FaceTime with you right. So then, you can face up the information that you’re reviewing with the counselor and also through that consultation review clash, flow projections, creating a strategic plan building a website whatever. That initiative is that we are doing with you and then the other one is obviously in person.
So we have an office which is our law offices located in Sacramento California. So that’s why we offer the different platforms, because everybody has most. Everybody has a smartphone, a computer where they can go ahead and log on, and it’s more effective for them to do that. The other service that we offer is over 200 trainings on an annualized basis. One of the signature programs is created by SBA.
It’s called the boots to business program. You went through that during your transition. Yes, so, as you know, then that program has eight modules and it really walks you through the conceptual idea of starting a business right to the fiscal financial management piece of it to the operational piece of it, to creating that that strategic plan or that business plan. Depending on what generation you are right and it gives you a snapshot view, so it allows you to be able to identify if entrepreneurship is something that is right for you, so it really just opens your eyes up to say.
Ok, this is something that I think that I might want to be able to do, but when a person goes through that program, where ever they were ever their home bases after their they come out of the military, then they can contact one of the 22v blocks That are nationwide, which can be easily accessible on the sba.Gov website, and so each one of those programs are those V box. Centers will tailor their services to whatever your specific needs are, and then the last service that we offer is we host conferences, which are one to three day conferences and they have a community-based focus.
So, for example, we just had a small business and dvbe summit dvbe in the government. You know we use lots of acronyms, which means disabled veteran business enterprise, and so it was a small business one day summit and it was part of the National Veterans Small Business Week celebration, and so with that we had our best practices, businesses that have come through The veterans Business Outreach Center program, some of them are still small businesses and some of them are actually medium-sized businesses, so we helped them grow and foster their business through either that neophyte level all the way through succession planning.
So that’s what the V buck programs do. So with that best practices, the audience had an opportunity to engage based upon their industry sector. What were best practices, what they would have done differently and what worked well for them, then the other component that we had is we had an economic future forecasting which talked about what are the economic trends which are so viable to a small business owner when you’re Creating your strategic plan or direction is if this is what my business initiative is going to be, then how is it going to fit within the marketplace in the demographic area that I serve or if its global, then, how does that fit globally as a whole yeah? So it’s interesting and and one of the things that came up so I’m a veteran you know, thank you, and so I know we’ve got a lot of veterans who are reading today, Wow.
So one of the things that comes up a lot especially doing a transition is the idea that we’re not quite ready yet and so at what stage from ideation creation. You know like that. I have an idea when I start a business, I’m actually operating a what stage should I come see you and your your team? That’s an excellent question. So, to be quite frank, it doesn’t matter what stage in the game you are because the veterans business outreach centers are designed to assist you on wherever you are specifically and whatever that cycle of starting a business or growing a business.
So, at any point time you can connect with your local vibha office. They’ll do a needs assessment to figure out where you are specifically. So if you’re a startup right, we want to vet the concept that the idea we want to determine whether or not the idea. By doing some market research is going to fit within the demographic area that you’re looking to to host your business. So let’s say you’re going to be starting.
I don’t know pick something underwater, basket-weaving, okay, right and you want to have a retail site that is in so you’re going to build a tank, this whole retail facility. So what we want to do is we want to take a look at what businesses and what can economically and trends is going to impact your business number one. So that’s the first thing so with your local municipality. What is the five-year plan for that? For that infrastructure, for that municipality, that’s going to support your business or is there another business? That’s similar! That’s a box chain! That’s going to come in! That’s going to have the same business initiative that you’re going to do, and it’s not going to be your direct competition and, what’s the with the mile radius of that the other part of it is that taking a look at the economic research, we have access to A phenomenal program that SBA provides to ssv bucks is called IBISWorld and I was word world allows us to pull economic trends, so we can assist you and give you the information that you need to be able to value your business concept, and/or idea.
So that might be an initiative marketplace of what you’re doing, but we want to make certain where your sales going to come from. Are you going to? Are you going to foster your relationships and do contracts with corporations? Are you looking for the general population sector or is it a combination of how are you going to generate that revenue and what does that strategic plan look like operationally financially to your marketing to your branding, to your succession planning as well, so one of the things That comes up is going back to my underwater basket-weaving, so in my head, I’m going to do five billion dollars of revenue in the first week.
Yes, if I bring that plan to you, are they going to help me gauge some of that, so we’re going to give you reality. Therapy is what I’m going to call it reality, they’re right, so we’re going to take a look at your industry sector right and what is reasonable cash flow that you’re going to generate. So if you come in a new, unless you have a contract with maybe a major health care or a for-profit organization, that’s going to say we’re going to give you a contract for that dollar amount and that’s going to solidify your revenue right.
But it also depends on the terms and the conditions of that contract. So we we sit down with you and we take a look at what your owners infusion is right, because you have to have working capital, you have to have sustainability, and so that’s why your cash flow projection is really important because it talks about your different revenue Streams right and you can’t start out a business with five million.
No, I mean we’re. Could you have something that supports that in evidence that, because more than likely, if you’re going to start out a business, that’s going to have five million dollars. You said within the first year first week first week: that’s you know what that’s very believing it’s coming at you, so you must be using Google right and you know it it’s to help you with that. So what we will do is we need to make certain that you have enough money to cash flow, your business, okay right, so you have a five million dollar contract you’re going to perform it in the one week.
So how are you going to afford to have money in the bank? That’s either your own owners infusion or a line, a credit established or some kind of funding to support that contract, because more than likely contracts don’t get paid until 90 to 180 days out, depending on the where it where it starts. So what we’re going to do is take a look again at your industry sector. What is reasonable in that industry sector? What are some past performance who’s, your competition, so a mini MBA program.
We call it the SWOT analysis right. What are their strengths? What are the, what are the weaknesses, what we’re going to call it areas of improvement right? What are the opportunities for your business and what are the threats to your business? So SWOT analysis? Okay, yes, yes, and so we’re going to take a look at that and determine what is a reasonable cost for the services that you’re offering or the products that you’re offering.
So for your basket-weaving business? Is it just going to be isolated to a certain demographic area, or is it going to be or national? Well, I just presumed that I would put it online and make my 5 million dollars a week so again we’ll take it back to reality therapy. So what will happen is all of our consultants in our program have an MBA. We have some that are CPAs as well, so we have you sit down with the consultant, take a look at your industry sector and put together a cash flow projection.
That’s reasonable! Okay! Right we’re going to give you that’s what I call it the reality therapy and though the services are complimentary, you’re not going to do the work for you we’re going to mentor you and guide you through that process. So the energy and effort that you put into it is the rate of return that you’re going to get out of it. Oh perfect, we have a lot of people that come in and they want us to do the work.
But if we do the work for you, then how are you going to successfully own and operate your business fair point? What? But that brings me to an interesting question. So I know a lot of veterans are thinking about starting their own business as they get out. Yes, what are the value that you see that a veteran brings to starting up their own business? That’s a really an excellent question, so you being a military member.
You know the Department of Defense spends billions of dollars of training, military members right with their standard operating procedures and also how to be able to handle situations that are stressful situations right. You have a ready action plan. So that’s what makes a veteran owner business owners so successful. I think you’re at the top 90 percentile a success ratio of them succeeding and it’s also predicated on the industry sector as well, but because they’ve been trained and it’s how they take so, let’s say: you’re a veteran you’ve recently transitioned out and you’re.
Looking to start a business or you’re already in a partnership in a business right, so what we want to do is take a look at what they needs. Assessment are with your business, where you’re going to grow it or how you’re going to start it and we’re going to take that experience, maybe you’re starting a business in whatever experience you have in the military. You want to transition that experience into corporate America and to start your business and we’ve helped many many many clients through that threshold from they come in.
They have a conceptual idea. This is what I did in the military. I was in charge of supply did supply chain, and I know that I could get supplies from point A to point B, so we actually have a client that that came through this program about four years ago. They started out with a conceptual idea and now they’re running over 22 million dollars in contracts, but we were, but they allowed us to do our job by guiding them and mentoring them through that whole process.
So so any business can be successful right if you, if you plan and you strategize, but that plan is just used as a barometer and because of the fact that things happen in business when you’re when you’re an entrepreneur – and you start out – you wear many – many Hats, you might be the CEO but you’re, also the janitor right, which every job is equally important. You can be Accounts Payable, customer service, you can be the sales department as well and you can be your human human resources department as well.
So what we take? A look that really is what your bandwidth and what your skillset level is, and to help you to take to those areas that you don’t have that bandwidth to fill those areas either with collaborative partners or resources. That will give you what you need to have a solid foundation, but it’s up to you to take the advice and to implement the advice. We can only give you the advice and we don’t make decisions for you.
Sorry, that’s good. No, it sounds really great about especially about guiding us through in a non-judgmental way, like that’s, really important. What, if my idea is super brand new mmm-hmm secret? I don’t want anyone to know about it. There’s a confidentiality absolutely so, just like I mentioned earlier, so the consulting services that we offer are confidential, just like a bank fiduciary relationship.
So when you register for services with our organization, we have a confidentiality statement and also in there it describes to that. What that level of confidentiality is all of our consultants and all of our staff members also have to sign a confidentiality statement on an annualized basis and we train what that confidentiality means. So let’s say you start your starting a business and you have a friend who’s starting the same business and that friend calls in because they want to find out about your business initiative.
So what we’re going to do just like what a bank does or just like, if you have a medical care provider, they’re, going to verify that it’s you, so we will ask them a series of questions like the last four years. Your social security number will branch and military. So there’s certain cue questions that we ask them, because we have access to that information to verify that when we’re doing a telephonic consultation or we’re doing or someone’s just calling in that.
We know that we’re connecting with you and speaking with you, okay, so yeah. So all right, this one is on behalf of my wife. Yes, what options are there available for military spouses so so they’re the same opportunities for military spouses for entrepreneurial training services through the Vblock programs, as if you, the veteran that came through as simple as that, so we support veterans of all eras, transitional military members.
Reservists Guard members and spouses, and so if your spouse is going to be in business with you, we will have you sign an authorization of release form because we serve the veteran right and then your wife would register for service as well, and we would onboard her The same way that we onboard you and so the same thing, if you are a veteran business owner and you have a key management team right, your key management team would register for services.
You would sign an authorization form for each one of them and then we would work with you as a team that doesn’t mean that they can receive the services in lieu of you as the veteran it’s in collaboration. So we could build capacity for you and your business or with you. I should say right so, okay. So what if my business isn’t five million dollars a week? What, if it’s really only about twenty thirty thousand a year? Do you guys still help with that? So yes, so again, we it doesn’t matter the size of your business, whether you’re, a micro, business or you’re, a small business or you’ve generated no revenue whatsoever.
We’re here to guide you to mentor you and to support you if you’re starting, growing, sustaining and all the way through an exit strategy and even through the exit strategy. If you’re looking to bring in another veteran to take over your business, we mentor both of you in that transition period. Right because we want to make certain that it’s fluid and that it’s successful for both of you and we also help with the evaluation of an acquisition of a business.
So our services are really broad. So it’s just not business planning, right and strategic planning. It’s all about acquisition with acquisitions and mergers. Access to capital is a big one. So well actually my next question so access to capital is one of the greatest hurdles that small businesses have right so because it’s all predicated upon the business itself. What is the owners infusion? What cash do you bring to the table? Not you going down and getting a credit card taking a cash advance.
That’s not cash! That doesn’t count right. Well, it counts, but it’s not true owners in fusion. What collateralization so there’s different types of financing that’s available, but financing for a small business is unique to the business. It’s not like you’re going to go, buy a house and you’re going to give them your your w-2s and your last year’s w-2s. Your 30 days bank statements and your last 30 days pay stubs it’s different.
It’s uniquely designed and underwritten based upon the industry sector, your business, what you say in your strategic direction or your plan, what your business is going to do and with those cash flow projections. Again, I’m going to go back to the fiscal wheelhouse, whatever those projections say, are they reasonable with the industry sector and do they make sense based upon? What’s your marketing plan in is your branding analysis and whatever those different revenue streams are going to be.
So we take a look at not only you as a person as a whole. We take a look at your business as a whole as well, and then that’s how we guide you. So it doesn’t matter if you’re starting sustaining growing since we’ve had people their survival mode right. We’ve had veterans that are deployed and we’re helping them work with their business owner back in the States and we’re doing it telephonically or emailing, so their business is sustainable when they return ok.
So this is my last question for you before we move on. So I know you’re with the BOC. Yes, not all of our viewers are here in California. Yes, how do they go about getting the access it? Can they get that excessive? Absolutely absolutely so SBA is, is a federal agency. It’s called the small US Small Business Administration and SBA has numerous programs for four small people or individuals that are looking to start sustain or expand a small business initiative, because small businesses are the economic engine of our great economy at the at the end of the Day it all boils down to that and with that being said, if you go to the website at WWF, be a govt, that’s wws be a gov and then the Office of Veterans, Business Development is the program that funds and is responsible for the VBox centers nationwide.
Alice Tammy yeah. Ok! Well, great! So thank you so much Corinna, if you don’t mind, staying with me, we’ll go through soon a so now we’re going to take a few questions live from Twitter. As a reminder, if you have questions you can get those questions answered using the hashtag hash, vet LED livestream on Twitter all right, let’s hop into our first question so, and we’re excited what’s the first one ooh okay, this one is from the borough of Manhattan Community College, what would you recommend if founders do not have a physical location and want to use grow with Google all right? So, unfortunately, you cannot use Google my business as an online, only business, but you can market your business using SEO and Google Ads we’ve covered.
Both these topics in depth in our previous live streams, which you can access at G dot, Co, slash livestreams all right. That’s an excellent question. All right, let’s see here what else we got! Question number two question number two: oh okay, here’s one for Ukrainian! So this one is what’s the difference between V, bak and SBA, so the veterans business outreach centers are partially funded from the US Small Business Administration due to public law.
106. 5-0. All of the 22 V box centers nationwide are some are nonprofit organizations. 501 C 3 s – some of them are also connected with local community colleges or and/or state universities on their economic development wing, so their own. The each one of them are independently operated, but we are grantees from the US Small Business Administration through the office of veterans, business development through the public law 106 5-0, which started in 2004 so working together.
Yes, so basically SBA is the federal agency that allows us to be able to be the boots on the ground to provide those direct service deliverables, the confidential, consulting services, the over 200 training platforms on an annualized basis and then the conference’s that we host okay, cool. All right question number three: yes, this one coming from Clayton library: how can vets get involved with bunker labs in Atlanta all right? Well, actually, there’s actually no in Atlanta tomorrow, which is still accepting RSVPs for a launch event between Google for startups and bunker labs.
You can get involved by going to bunker labs website at Bunker. Labs, org and bunker labs is one of our collaborative partners Connor, who is the executive director? Yes, so the V pop programs collaborate with a lot of the nonprofit organizations and for-profit Avett agencies that provide those direct service deliverables. So that’s great that you can access a lot of different resources without owning all of them.
That’s correct, so it takes so they take. They say it takes a village right to raise a child, so it takes a village or a multitude of different agencies. Nonprofit organizations, both federal state, local municipalities, institutions of higher education to be able to serve our constituency base. So we all work together and collaborate. Okay. Next question here is from Avery from Madison Wisconsin.
All right are there more veteran specific workshops or lessons that you can recommend so I’ll. Take the first part if you want to connect partner, okay, so, as mentioned before grow with Google just launched a resource hub. Where veterans like, like War veterans, can find products tools and lessons to start or grow their businesses. One resource is the primer app primer, offers quick and easy to understand business and marketing lessons you can find topics like creating a business plan, increasing sales, managing finances and more primer also offers customers mini courses tailored to veterans and military spouses that you can find by Searching veteran led or mill spouse biz with a Z in the app the URL is grow.
Google, slash veteran ledge, very nice. So I’m going to add to that. If I may please, so, there are a lot of different resources out there for individuals for their small businesses. So if you there’s a small business development center, which is also also funded by the Small Business Administration. So if you’re looking to do government contracting as well procurement, technical assistance, centers as well, they provide specifically contracting opportunities if you’re looking to grow and expand your business.
I’m International Trade, Centers of International Trade Organization, the Service Corps of retired executives as well, and the one business centers I know score scores. I was okay, so that’s an excellent question, though yeah thank you uh. Why do we have here Sasha from Des Moines, alright Sasha? What do you have this? Alright? What’s the difference between Google, my business and things like Google Places for business, Google business profile, Google listings Google+ business pages? Okay, I can get that one: okay, Google, my business lets you take advantage of your business pro or businesses presence on Google.
So with your Google, my business account you can manage and update your business profile and build a website to attract, engage more customers. Google, my business business profile, encompasses what was once known as Google Places for business the Google listings and replaces a Google+ business page, so it consolidates and replaces it oh here we go. This one is from from Scott. It says: is there a search feature to make the veteran badge searchable and how do we shop and do business with that led businesses locally, all right I’ll, take this one.
The the attribute is not currently searchable. The attribute will show up in two places, so in search when you’re searching for a place using an android mobile device, users will see the attributes like veteran lead on the profile and when searching for our place using the iOS mobile device, users will would need to Use the chrome app in order to find a place, and then they will see the attribute in the highlight section on maps on maps, all users will need to open a business listing and tap the two two line: description of the business, to see the attributes associated With that business, so it’s more than abbreviate version on the maps versus when you go and do a search and see here, mmm, okay, so this one’s for you, okay, all right! This one is from Sylvia in Albuquerque.
I only have a business idea right now. What are some things I need to consider before start veteran-owned business? Well, that’s an excellent question. So the my first and foremost recommendation for you is to get in to sign up for services with a local Small Business Development Center, a veteran’s business outreach center. So they can actually help you and/or score to vet, that process of what your concept or what your idea is and how and how that concept or whatever the idea is that you have how it fits within the marketplace.
So the most important thing is get to the local resource partner: either a veteran’s business outreach center. You can find them on the SBA gov website and let those professionals assist you to help. You mentor you to walk you through and evaluate that concept, or that idea right as you want to find out whether or not is going to be feasible or not, feasible, absolutely and also plug score here from the SBA.
So when I was a mentor over there a lot of the times we would take at businesses that were still in the idea phase and didn’t really have anything fleshed out and we would help walk them to the flushing. But in the same town we weren’t going to do the work for you. We would give you the tools and you need to go. Do the legwork and that’s where we, when I go back to the needs assessment. Just like you go to a health provider they’re going to do a needs assessment based upon your health needs, so we do a needs assessment based upon your business needs.
What is your experience in the industry sector? What do you bring to the table of your knowledge because it’s one thing to have a conceptual idea, but not had that subject matter expertise to be able to perform the deliverables? So then we have to identify. Can we find someone who has that subject-matter expertise that you can hire or be your partner in that business? So it’s just basic evaluation.
So then that way, the reason when we offer the services is, we don’t want you to start a business and we’ve had people. Do this they come in, they go. We don’t to create a plan right, we’re just going to start a business, so they’ll come in. They’ll say this is an excellent service, we’ll start them in the direction, but they don’t want to create a strategic plan. What they want to do is they go out.
They sign a lease agreement, they’re in a retail storefront, and then they come back six or nine months later saying: hey. We don’t have enough money to cash flow. So then, what we do is we take a look at either a sustainability plan or a survival plan or an exit strategy, whatever their particular situation is. So that’s why these resources are so important, they’re, complementary, they’re paid by your public tax dollars.
These are people who are, they are certified the professionals they know their industry sector in and out and they’re there to guide you and mentor you. So the first thing that I would do is to go to sba.Gov, find your local resource partner, whether it’s a V Bach and SBDC, a woman’s business center or score whatever it might be and then get services from them. Let them guide you and mentor you through that process, so you can make good valid business decisions outstanding yeah.
So it’s a great question. So the next one is a Clinton library. Can you briefly briefly discuss the Patriot boot camp partnership or okay yeah? I can. I can do this one, so our our Google, for starters partnership will pair startups, founded by veterans and military spouses in the Patriot Mentor Program, with advisors from Google to provide product expertise. We’re especially excited to support the Patriot boot camp as they inspire and equip additional military spouse and veteran founders to succeed.
Wow. We got a lot of questions all of a sudden. It’s because you’re doing a fabulous job. Alright, so this one is from Justine from New York. She is Google Reserve the same as the appointment booking feature. Okay, no, but they do work together, so Reserve at Google connects to a wide variety of online services that let you book reserve and get things done like mind. Body Trip Advisor book, see him anymore.
So if you choose those services, it automatically connects you to your Google, my business business profile very nice all right. This uh got another one here from Justine nope, that’s a copy there. This one’s from Lily from New York, okay, New York is live. I know they’re. Definitely here in force is there a one-stop place where I can learn more about Google’s resources for veterans? Yes, there is actually so please visit grow.
Google, slash veteran lead where you can find grow at Google’s free tools and resources for veteran, led businesses and again that’s Gro. Google, slash veteran lead, that’s an excellent question. I know they’re coming in, like that. They’re definitely woken up so this one. Next, one is a Julia from Ann Arbor. Yes, all right, so I own a business, and one of my employees is in charge of responding to text messages that come in from Google.
My business is there any way that I can monitor the messages? Okay, so no, but you can see the average response time if you have any have an Android device reports in messaging insights will display the average wait time for a message response using the last 28 days of data to see the reports just go on your Android Phone or tablet open the Google, my business app and tap customers and then messages, and you should better get a report all right.
Well, I think that’s about all the time we have for today, and I hope that you found this information valuable. Thank you Karina. Thank you. Thank you for your service and inviting me out today. So you we do this by sitting around every single day for 30 minutes at 2 p.
M. A est. Take note of that and we talk about how you can capture the right people. You know create the right content, so you can engage those people, educate them, inspire them and provide them with value and then most of all, convert those people into paying clients and then pretty much after that, utilize that for branding your own authority and creating relationships so That, like I, keep saying your business can be profitable and enjoyable.

Sadly, thank you all for tuning in all right, so, like I mentioned earlier on, basically we’re talking about for you to actually market your business on a budget. Now, how many of you guys are actually finding it difficult to reach your audience right now? You know to get any sort of attention, maybe for your message or for your websites or for your social media.
If you are finding it difficult to get attention, I want you to type in the number one. If you are someone getting by, can you type in the number two if it’s totally difficult for you to get by, can you type in the number three? I just really want to have an understanding of who is online right now I see Sheridan has just tuned in. Thank you so much, I’m hoping you’re feeling better right now and also doing well with your work right then – and this is your first time tuning in welcome aboard like I said this will be a 30-minute segment when we’re really talking about how you can bust a Notch or two and actually you know, really reach out to your audience and get their attention and actually you know, sell to the audience so that your business can be profitable and can be enjoyable now, wouldn’t that be nice? Alright, now you know here’s a situation that I’m sure everybody who’s reading right now can resonate with you know you probably have a small budget and you’ve got really really big dreams.
You know when the Facebook ad that sold you on to the dream that you have you know can buy. It came with. You know pina coladas on the beach and you working by the beach, or you know four hour work weeks like what Tim Ferriss has written, etc, etc. But all of that just exists in misleading facebook ads when you start, you know really working on your business when you start creating for and relating to your audience, it’s not the same way as the Facebook ads.
You know, have predicted or put it out there. So you might, you know, really have really really big dreams you want to have. You know grow your own business, you want to become your own boss, but money and cashflow are tight, and that means you know you’re going to of that cash flow for things that are really really important and you’re going to skimp on your marketing. Now. Does this sort of sound like you, does this sound like like you’re the person who’s got a small budget and maybe big dreams? I want to know the people that are actually reading here, because you know if you’re doing well, then maybe this one with the article for you, but if, if you’ve got really small budgets and and really big dreams, then I want you to continue reading this article You’re not I mean because I run a digital agency leave along digital and I get a lot of requests.
You know for people that wanted strategy session from me, because we do a lot of marketing in and around you know the websites on and off online, etc, etc. So, there’s people that want – maybe you know a strategy created for them. There’s people that want implementation of. Maybe they’ve heard me speak about the blueprint or they they want me to help them with their SEO or but they’re on a minimum budget.
You know and and then this happens on a daily basis. You’re not I mean not. A lot of businesses are actually making money out there, like I said in the other article, ninety seven percent of the article of the you know: small businesses in Australia run by people like you and me all right and then pretty much from that. Ninety seven percent. Maybe thirty to forty percent, I’m not going to make it past year, one year two year, three, all right! So that’s why you know people like me come in because we help you to actually have a business, that’s profitable and enjoyable.
I see Anna or sure them. It’s just children. Thank you so much for joining us today, alright, so luckily we as entrepreneurs, we love that challenge and I also love a challenge. When somebody comes to me and says, I don’t have that much of a budget, but let’s see how we can work together. You’re not I mean because now we’ve become experts in achieving a very lot. You know a lot of results for people with very little.
All right, and how do we manage to do this? I’m going to be sharing some of my secrets in this particular article right now. So if you know somebody who’s struggling with their marketing, if you know somebody who’s struggling with their business, somebody who’s struggling with their cash flow tag them in this article right now, because I’m giving out the secrets that we’re using and we’re also giving out to people That have a very low budget so that their businesses can be profitable and enjoyable.
And if you may, you can actually share this article from this point on, because I’m going to be giving you the effective digital marketing strategies for bootstrapping. In especially if your startup or if you’re a small business all right and I’m going to just give it away right from the get-go first of all, you got ta, make sure you’re doing good work. You got ta, make sure you’re doing good art, because that’s the only thing that gets remarkable.
That’s the only thing that people alright! No, I want you to maybe remember a time old or the last time you went and readed a movie alright and have you ever walked out of a movie or have you ever heard? Somebody who’s read the same movie that you’ve readed, repeating maybe a couple of lines from that movie. You know that that readed and you guys instantly connect now. What I’m trying to say is if you make good art, people will talk about it.
It will be remarkable. You know just like how you know good movies end up as people start talking about those lines in that movie. If I say I’ll be back, you remember, you would know that I’m talking about Arnold Schwarzenegger’s movie. If I talk about, I can’t really think of movie lines right now, but you you get what I’m trying to say all right, so make good art do good work. So if you are ever going to get anything from this article today get those three little words make good art cuz, I’m the only thing that people will talk about.
If you make people happy, if you make people laugh, if you make people get results from the work that you’re putting out there, they will talk about you at a barbecue. That’s the first thing that you can absolutely do even if you’ve got a low budget or even if you’ve got a high budget. If your work is good enough for people to talk about, they definitely will talk about it. Alright and I see – and what’s going on.
Rather, thank you so much for in the next thing that you really want to grasp and and those that are really enjoying this article right now tag somebody who might really want to hear about this, so that it can actually help them by actually helping them. The next thing that you really want to make sure within your business is once you’re doing good work, that good work becomes your message all right and then, when you’ve got that good work, make sure that message goes to a market be specific on who has to Actually hear that message, because not everyone is your customer, because if you’re going to be spraying and praying with your marketing, then you’re wasting advertising money.
You’re wasting. You know advertising budgets you’re wasting your time, you’re wasting the listeners time. Alright. Whenever people don’t understand, who is this meant for me and whenever people don’t understand, is this book written for me whenever people don’t understand? Was this book meant? For me, it’s going to be difficult for them to actually listen to the message, so you have to have really good work like I said, and then it creates what is called a permission asset once you’ve got permission to sell to me.
I will then start listening. All right, you can’t sell to somebody who hasn’t, given you permission to sell to them so once you’re doing good work, you’ve got a message now that goes to a specific market. You now need to choose the blogs of how you’re reaching out to that audience wisely. I see Luke has just turned in Nicole my love. What’s going on, haven’t seen you in a minute chuckle Bradley. Thank you so much brother for walking, I’m your last name is walkouts got ta say.
Thank you so much for walking by you know this article. So, like I said your message, your market, you got ta now be specific about the media, as you can tell and as you will notice, you know what’s actually happening right now. Facebook is under scrutiny for having leaked people’s data, etc, etc, and guess, what’s going to happen, people are going to shrug away from you know using Facebook as a platform.
Now, if you have big noticing as well that Facebook, even the reach has been dwindling in the reach, has been getting smaller and smaller and if you have just been, you know basing or standing on one media blog. As you know, the way you’re reaching out to your audience, it’s going to be grand opening and grand closing for you. Alright. So, like I said your media, your market, and when you actually now choose your blog, which is the you know, which is how you deliver your message.
You know it makes it a whole lot easier, whether you move from one platform to another people will still remember what you said. Why? Because you’re doing good work, because you’re making good art I see Nicole, has just children. Thank you so much for your time today. I hope you having a fantastic meat week session wherever you at right now, all right, so all of these are effective digital markets.
If you notice, we haven’t even gotten into the whole trickery of you know, tools and and tactics and everything else. It’s just what your message is: what that market really needs to be in the media and I’ll be playing around those three M’s, and if it’s the only thing that you really get from this show today, Nick good arts, that’s the only thing that people care about These days, not about how funny your articles are not about how your content comes into the newsfeed, not about how your blog is situated or what trickery you got them into signing up to your news list, if you’re not making good art if you’re not putting on Good work, nobody will care all right, whatever you’re going to say, he’s going to mean Jack diddly if you are not specific about your market and what blogs you’re going to be using in order for you to reach out to them message, market medium, all right.
So this is for those people that have a you know a really tight budget and really want to make sure they get a proper return of their investment as soon as they put money in and then they get some sort of cash outline. So, by choosing your blogs wisely, we all caught up in in the angst. You know that is caused by the lack of money, because guess what we we are forced or we are shown. How are the big companies? Are? You know advertising you not.
I mean we forget one thing: everyone has a limited marketing budget, you know, I mean not even the tires like Apple or coca-cola, I just spreading money out there. They are working within their budget, so I mean obviously their bodies are huge. You not I mean, but they still work hard and choosing the right blogs that give them the right return on their only investment and why? Why would they do that? Because nobody wants to waste money, and especially if you don’t have that money, why would you want to waste something you don’t have so make sure that whatever you’re going to be doing you’re not going to have to do it twice? Do it once and for all or what them what them carpenters say, measure twice and cut once Genaro mean so if you’re, a small business and you’re with small budget, this is actually really really important figure out.
What are you good at? Who means you know, what are you good at? What are you selling who needs it and where can you find them and then just specifically go to that blog instead of you being spreading yourself too thin, and then you know becoming a high-sounding nothing. You know cuz, you can’t afford to waste money, so you want to start by choosing the right digital marketing blogs and mind you. This is not an easy task right now.
Can you tell me where you think your audience is actually situated within the whole online space? Can you just type in where you think is the best place to to find you or your audience right now? Where are they congregated? Where would they be if you would go out and find 10 customers off your own right now? Where would you specifically go especially in your business? Please type it in the comments, then you know this is hundreds of blogs, there’s hundreds and each of them offer a rabbit hole in and of itself.
You know, I mean, there’s social media is email. There’s PPC ads. This SEO, you know this display ads this content, marketing. All of that and guess what every new thing that comes on the market mocking us find a way to ruin it. So if you’re hearing about something from a Facebook ad guess what people are already raped, it and they’ve already ruined it and as much as you are a late arrival all right.
So you need to know specifically where your audience, where you congregates, then I see Mike as just children, what’s going on brother tonight, I mean this is just a few of the things that we are exposed to, because if you don’t know where your client is right Now and a quarter past two, then you have lost everything. You know you wouldn’t know what to do it for beer, because then, if you know where your client is, are they in the office or are they taking their kids from school? Because if you post a blog at that particular time, are they going to see it or are they going to wait until they finish making dinner for their family? So that’s how much you need to know your market and each of them each of these platforms.
I’m talking about it comes with its own limitations, so you now have choice. Paralysis. Is that what they call it, paralysis of choice and it’s real? The struggle is real right there you know. So do you know exactly what your customer is doing right now at a corner bus to please, if you know, can you type it down right now? You know because you’d like to to to to to I mean you would want to use platforms that are already where your customers are.
If you don’t have money you know, because if you go off the beaten track, how are you going to reach to new people? People need to hear your stuff six to eight times in order for you to catch fire and that costs money. It’s not going to be easy for somebody to pay attention to you if you haven’t gotten their attention in the first place. So, in order to make the right choice, you really need to start with your buyer persona, who is going to buy my products? What frustrations am I actually fixing who needs me in the market? What would happen if I’m not there? All of those questions? Are you asking yourself, those questions am I needed in market? Is this product? If I don’t exist that somebody suffer cuz, if you’re not asking yourself all those deep questions, my friend, that’s the reason why it’s crickets and your funnels.
That’s the reason why it’s crickets in your bank account right now find out who your ideal customer is: where do they hang out online? What publications, what are they buying on Amazon here? What do they like? Who are they listening to and what tone of voice actually appears appeals to them? Some people like to be told what to do some people like to make their own decisions find out. Is your customer that person what how am I reaching out to them and how are you going to know you’re getting the right person? What is the feedback that you should be getting from that buyer persona to actually solidify that you are doing good work, that they absolutely need Mack, good art? If that’s the only thing you get from this article today make good art mike says.
These are great questions. Does my existence solve somebody’s suffering? Absolutely, you know they’re not giving our participation trophies our day. My man, all right you’ve got ta really reach out to people, because you know what we are now. Oh, it’s called info Bay City. There’s a lot of obesity caused by food. Now there is info best city right. Let me coin that term info best city, everybody’s bloated, with information right now.
You’ve got ta, be that person and that actually you know what what do we call it. This be succinct with that information. Make sure you make it succeed enough that it fills them up. Everybody is bloated with information, so make sure whatever work you’re putting out. There is good at linked good art and your budgeting and your your your marketing budget won’t be strained a whole great deal. You know, and if you answer these questions like what Mike is saying, your choice is half made.
If you know where to find you next ten customers right now, can you type in the number one all right and I see Christine Stowe – has this chin then thank you so much Nicole says he is good, oh good. I will read it again absolutely and share this if you can, with your with your other mates that really have you know, I’m running on a low budget, but really want to reach out to their audience there, and if you can actually answer the questions that I Asked earlier on, as in who needs what you’re selling and who, whose existence is not going to be an enjoyable existence, if you don’t exist, or if your message doesn’t exist in the in the market right, then you know and then the rest would be covered by Whatever budget you have so there’s no point in you spreading yourself too thin without a message that resonates to a market.
You know start with maybe one or two blogs and then that you can actually afford to be present, because if you can show your customers, you can help them by actually helping them. Then I’ll tell you something. They would actually anticipate that you warn. You have a solution for them now Mike says he always gives me so much to think about going to re-read. Thank you so much Mike and Christian says everybody wants me to find them money in grunts absolutely.
But you need to answer the question. What would the grunts you know fulfill for these people? What is it that they actually want? It’s not grunts, they want. What do they want? Is it a better lifestyle, a better business, a business, that’s profitable and enjoyable, because right now, you’re pushing a product? What is the feeling, what is the thing that people absolutely want so that they come to you and then say and knock on your door Christine and say because of you, I did not give up what is it that they absolutely want from you? You need to find that and if you can specify what that particular thing is, I assure you people would be tripping stumbling and falling to come and get more of what you’re selling right there all right.
So you, you really have to be really succeed and show people you can help them by actually helping them and half of the time is Kristin says I’m wondering why they want money, I’m not getting that one, but that’s alright, and also if, even though the Internet Has spread open and you can become a global business. Sometimes you probably don’t need that. You know we’ve actually had excellent results with clients and that we have steered towards their own local audiences.
You know I mean we’ve actually started getting a lot of results and you know by just remaining local, because people want to do business with. Does they know like and trust? Yes, you could be, you know, um, you know international or global, but are you able to service that person, especially in different time zones? The people want their surance, that will you pick up their phone just in case. Something good goes wrong in the service that you’re providing.
You know and remember what I said about dreaming big, it’s okay, everybody wants to be known as the maybe so provider of a certain product or service globally, which is like. Maybe you want to be the uber or whatever you know, service you’re serving or you want to be the McDonald’s um. You know of your industry, because whenever you talk McDonald’s synonymous with fast food, you not I mean but site’s reputation.
It takes money, time and effort and buy money. I’m talking billions to build. So just because you’ve got a website, it doesn’t mean you, you, you become global you’re, not I mean you’re, not big shock, who you know who is international broth? You need to check these statistics all right, plus it’s not really profitable for a small business, whether you’re, local or not just find out. Do you really need to extend or stretch yourself so much because you comes with customer care, it comes with understanding the different cultures of the people, you’re reaching out to etc, etc.
You know so is it profitable for you to actually really go global or I ought to be better off with the people that actually understand who you are and can know like and trust you within your local periphery? You know cuz I’ve always given this example. You know if you really want to rank your website, because my main job is search engine optimization you’re, not I mean, and and maybe you are a crafter or a creator of wedding dresses.
If you just write in wedding dresses, it’s much more easier for you to rank number one for hand, med wedding, dresses in Melbourne or handmade wedding dresses in in Sydney. Oh handmade wedding dresses in Perth because whatever, if somebody’s going to search for something they’re going to look at, who will give me the the service cheaper, better faster, so you want to be found in your local area as well.
You know better, yet it’s actually more profitable. You know why these people that actually use long tail keywords you people that say you know dentist near me, know exactly what they’re looking for you’re, not I mean and they’re likely ready to buy. They probably have a bleeding neck, so if you just rank for the word dentist they’re not going to know, are you the dentist round the corner that they can actually just reach out to I’m a semantic? You would see my in henna, you know half the time if I go out and there’s people smoking around me or these dust and fumes from the cars I just typed in pharmacy near me, so that I know just in case I start wheezing.
I can how much longer would it take me to get to a pharmacy? You know how much longer would it take me to get to a pharmacy, I’m not just going to type in pharmacy. No, I want to to cure my pain as soon as possible. So that’s exactly what your clients are doing as well, try being local because it makes you you know people reach, you faster, cheaper and you you you will be. You offer better preference, because you know what people can pick up the phone and call you or just drive around the corner and get whatever service you’re.
Getting you know and Nicole says I was thinking I was thinking you become more profitable, based on the weight and value you hold right. Sorry, if it doesn’t make sense, I mean well, you value is good. That’s the reason why I took off cuz. I had over four thousand five hundred people from all of us. You know all over the the in the world, but I cut it all into half. You know what I really want to reach to people that you know.
I can help them immediately and I can help them there and there tonight I mean so, like I say I help people with search engine optimization those people that put generic inquiries, they probably just window-shopping, which means it’s not a good return of investment for you. So you want to leverage the power of location, maybe within your social media. You know your content marketing your SEO, your PPC, you know ads wherever you can on Janee and set your name, and you know in within your city within your neighborhood, because let me tell you something: people would support to build a woman.
People would support a wall that they helped to build. You now create instant rapport. If you say I’m an SEO engines in Melbourne instead of saying to somebody in Phoenix Arizona, who’s, never heard of Melbourne Australia. You know I mean so. Is your business, a local business or a global one? Nonetheless, why pass some clients that are in your backyard? People are more likely to do business with local companies.
So why not use that to your advantage. So, like I’m saying, if you haven’t really caught up to what we’re talking about in this article, I’m just giving you all the ideas that you can actually stop: marketing your business for free, throwing in five hundred dollars three hundred dollars every single day on Facebook and You’re targeting people that don’t even care about your work, my man, why would you be doing that? Why would you be stealing from yourself and one other thing that a lot of people who would not do is, if you’re not doing good arts? Nobody would remark your work, so if you do good art, if you do good work, you get reviews all right and Scott says prosper.
I can listen in because I’m in a cafe, but I love your work. Mate keep going. Thank you so much Scott. Thank you. So much try and get testimonials and case studies, maybe on your websites, because you know what people do business with those they know like and trust, and these days you know people who trust other people that have gone through the experience be instead of you saying, look, Look at me, you can actually have other people as being your ambassadors.
You know, like those people are talking about Elia on that. If you read the movie, you you, you go out of the movie and you’re repeating words that have been said in that movie and guess, where that comes in it creates your branding. It creates a community around the work you’re doing and you build loyalty and ambassadors around the word and it makes it cheaper for your marketing. You know, so you can encourage people to leave reviews on Facebook on Google on Google on Yelp.
I think there’s another one called Trustpilot a mom and don’t sing any of those, but user-generated content is also really good for SEO and it makes it a whole lot easier for Google to rank you. You know why, because you’re a trusted source, so we encourage people to leave. Reviews by you know, maybe offering little incentives and maybe a discount for her loan, bringing new referrals, etc, etc. Anything you can think of that is useful for you and your customers, because satisfied customers are usually the best brand ambassadors all right.
I really hope that this article has been useful for you and if you have tagged anyone that would have you know really really gotten. You know insights as to how to actually market a business on a cheap you’re. Not I mean I’m just going to wrap things up here. You know it’s cash flow is really important, especially in your business and the biggest thing that people scheme born is marketing when it comes to lit less funds.
So it’s not fun to start counting pennies and think how am I going to spend them best? You can actually have a business, that’s profitable and enjoyable. It’s always a better way to get things done, stop trying to bite things that you cannot chew or you cannot swallow and not, and not.
A lot of marketing involves a lot of wads of cash. Just put out good work right there put out good content, engage your audio do remarkable stuff so that people can talk about you. Who is helping with your digital business footprint?
What’s a key word, my best explanation of what a key word is a key word can either be a single word or most commonly a string of words or Freight. A phrase for example, that the search bots will travel through your website and determine exactly what your content is all about. What’s a search bot, a search bot is a tool used by the search engines.
For example the Google bot the Bing bot the Yahoo slur. Those are all BOTS sent out by those companies to determine exactly what content and and to collect and gather data from our websites to determine exactly where they should be placed in these search engines. So the search engines compiled all of this data and they take these keywords and and they’ll determine exactly what keywords your website might rank for now.
Believe me, it’s a lot more complicated than how they determine which websites will rank where based solely on keywords. There’s many more factors that go into it. In fact, there’s over 200 known factors involved in the algorithm at Google anyways to determine exactly where your website will rank in search. Ok right back to keywords, so we know already that a keyword can either be a single word or a phrase, and we know that search BOTS use those keywords to help determine exactly what your website is about.
The third thing about keywords is some keywords: can be much more competitive than others to rank for so what determines, if a a word is competitive, obviously supply and demand? How many people are trying to rank their websites or or competing for that popular keyword or a phrase? So for an example: if we were to take the term lawyer, let’s say we’re in the city of Orlando Florida and we have a law firm and we want to write our law firm for the term lawyer, probably very competitive.
It’s actually one of the toughest niches to write for it’s a highly competitive, very expensive niche to rank for if you’re, a lawyer, sorry lawyers, you guys do make lots of money, though so lawyer is a broad term that we want to rank for as opposed to Family law, which is more of a niche down, subject we’re probably not as much competition if you were just ranking for lawyer. So if we want to narrow it down a little more, we could go family law or business law.
So those are keywords and then, as we niche them down, you would have less competition, so less competition means easier to rank for right. So it’s something to take into consideration now. I do not want you to think okay. Well, we’re just going to avoid all the general terms, because we’ll never have a chance of ranking for them. For the most part, that’s true. There’s established large websites with lots of Link’s pointing to them that have been around for years and it’s tough to overwrite those kind of websites with popular keywords.
But that’s not necessarily true of me. If they are ranking for popular keywords, that pie, we’ll call it a pie, is a very large pie that has a ton of searches per month. For that keyword and a chance, even getting a sliver of that pie is still quite good, as opposed to going for the small little pie of, say, family law vs. Lawyer. You could rank higher, say on page one for a family law as opposed to page three.
For the term lawyer, if you’re a lawyer in Orlando and just coming up with a new website, okay, so what if I told you, there was actually a way that we could determine or measure how. Often a certain keyword or phrase was searched for monthly. So in our example, we use the term lawyer in the city of Orlando or also family law. So if we compare those two and I plug it in to my free Google Keyword planner tool, I tells me that the term lawyer is searched for five hundred ninety times a month in the city of Orlando versus a hundred and forty times a month.
For the term family law, so approximately you know four times more popularly. The broad term lawyer is so, but still family law at one hundred and forty searches per month is still a valuable term that we could try and rank for. So how do you get that access to that free tool? I’ll show you right now I’ll walk you through how you can sign up for the free Google search tool and just follow along okay, so beings we’ve signed up for a gmail account or also, if you already have one in the previous module in step one.
We can step our sorry. We can skip that step and just simply when you’re logged into your Gmail account open up another tab and simply make you do a search for Google Adwords. Okay. So up top here we have Google AdWords pay-per-click online advertising. Now we want to simply sign up and create a Google AdWords account doesn’t mean you’re going to do any advertising and they have this free tool. The keyword planner tool within the Google Adwords so I’ll, simply click on start now.
Okay, once you land on this page, it’s very important to get this point here, we’re simply going to click on skip the guided setup and that will allow us to get to the keyword planner tool much easier than if we, if we have to go through the Whole setup process, basically it’s asking for your website and your email address and and we’ll get to that later on in module 3. If you are interested in setting up google adwords completely so for right now, we’re just simply going to click on skip the guided setup, and now it’s simply going to ask you for your email address, select which country you’re from and I’m just simply going to select Canada, most, you will probably be in the US, select your time zone and then your currency.
Now your time zone and currency cannot be changed once you set those up so make sure you set them up correctly. Just quickly enter my email address here. This is a demonstration account, so actually this email address will be gone after. I create this article so do not try and get all of me there and then we simply click on save and continue now here it will ask us to enter our Google account so we’ll click on next they’ve already pre-loaded, the email and it’ll ask you for The password once you’ve entered your password click on sign in and then it asks about a having some recovery stuff.
We’re not going to worry about that right. Now, click on done, you can add a backup phone number if you want or a recovery email again. This is just a temporary account for demonstration purposes, so I haven’t set those ax and then you will land at this page and you’ll notice a whole bunch of options. You can click on. We will look at more of those in more depth in module 3, but for right now all we’re interested in is at the top here, where it says, tools simply click on tools, then the drop-down appears and what you’re looking for is the Keyword planner.
So click on keyword, planner and here it says, find new keywords and get search volume data. So we want to search for new keywords using a phrase website or category or get search volume, data and trends and here’s another option that we can get new keywords. So we’re just going to simply select this. This middle one here get search volume, data and trends. So click on that and the first thing it says, is enter keywords so I’ll just simply type in lawyer and the next thing we wanted to under targeting right now.
It’s has all locations, so this is would give us the results for the entire world. We want to narrow that down so I’ll, just simply: click on that little pencil or pin there and where it says, enter a location to target I mean you could enter United States. You could enter Canada if you’re, you know a global audience or most likely. You are a local business and want to enter your city, or maybe even state or depending on the size of the service area.
You service so right now, I’m just going to put in Orlando so right up here, Orlando Florida, United States and I will click on save and so right now I’ve got one keyword in here lawyer, we’re searching in the City of Orlando USA, and I want to Get the search volume, so click on get search, volume and right now average monthly search for all ideas. It shows up 100 to 1000, so it gives you a range now that number I got earlier.
My Google AdWords account that I have is a an AdWords account. That’s had thousands almost you know tens of thousands of dollars through it lots of advertising. It’s it’s many years old and beings. I’m a longtime customer of Google. I get a little more accurate picture of data, so here you can see. There’s a big range. There might be 100 to 1000 monthly searches so for new years users of Google AdWords.
Until you build up a, I don’t know a history with with Google. You do not have access to dead, accurate numbers like I do so anyways. This is the tool that gives you an idea, at least what that search volume is so let’s say we wanted to be beings. This is not that accurate. Maybe we could change Orlando, let’s go and change this to United States, oops. So we’ll add the country of United States and I’ll just simply remove Orlando, so click on remove here and then click on save.
So now we have 100,000 to 1 million. The reason I did that so, each month, average monthly searches for the term lawyer in the United States is anywhere from 100,000 to 1 million. So it gives us a little more of an idea in the whole country what kind of search volume that is, let’s add another term here, so I’m going to simply put a comma space and my next term will be family law and over here I’ll click on Get search volume, so we know if we’re comparing the two okay.
Obviously family law gets lower search volume than lawyer, so anyways. It can give us an idea of the search volumes if you just start typing, in related keywords, to get an idea how popular those words are and if you should be including them on your website and and which ones are the other most popular, also you’ll notice. Over the to the side, here, it’s got suggested bid. If you are actually running ads now lawyer happens to be one of the most expensive pay-per-click advertising categories.
I guess you would call it and you know eight and a half dollars seventeen dollars, twenty seven cents. For somebody in your city clicking on family law, if you’re a lawyer trying to gain clients, anyways just gives you an idea of this of the AdWords tool and how we can use it to determine search volume of certain keywords related to your website. Okay, I need to show you another feature of the Google Keyword planner so to get to this page again.
Just simply, you would click on tools up top here and go down to keyword, planner, and that would bring you once again right to this page. Here will be where we have the three options so the first time we went through the middle option. This time we will select on the top option here, search for new keywords using a phrase website or a category, so click on that this pops down this time. You know for your small business.
You can type in whatever, let’s say your lawn care business type in lawn care, your a painting, business type in painting, services or painting beings. We worked with a lawyer before I’m just going to punch in family law here and then, if you wanted you could you know if you had a product category, if you wanted to niche this down, you could enter a few things here or competitors website, even if He wanted to or your website and it will crawl your website or your competitors website and give you some keyword, ideas but anyways we’ll stick with this.
We we have a keyword of our key phrase of family law. Again, we have Orlando here selected and at the bottom we will so we’ll click on get ideas. Now, what its going to do is spit out a whole bunch of terms related to family law that you could perhaps target and you’ll notice. In my account, I have a much more accurate data here, collection of how many searches per month and you’ll notice in the second column here competition, you know how competitive is it to rank for that or to advertise more specifically to advertise for those terms, so you’ll See here you know, beings were in family law, you’ll see divorce in the City of Orlando, roughly three hundred and ninety times a month.
That term is search divorce lawyers would be an excellent phrase to rank for. If you were a lawyer in the city of Orlando 170 searches per month, obviously it’s high competition. Somebody typing in divorce, lawyers is looking for a divorce lawyer. Obviously, and chances are if they hire your services as a lawyer, it’s you know the thousands and thousands of dollars. You could end up billing your client and that’s why over you’re here, you can see and again these aren’t Canadian dollars, not US dollars, twenty dollars and seventy one cents for that click.
That’s crazy! A lot of businesses that I advertise for again. You know landscaping or whatnot one two dollars for a click. This is just a general guide. I mean it doesn’t mean every click that you get if, if you’re a divorce lawyer in Orlando advertising, for that term doesn’t mean you’re going to pay $ 21, it might only be $ 4 or $ 5. This is just a guy died. It’s not anything! You know exact science to go by so anyways just going down here.
We can click up top here and just like Excel. We can arrange all the terms in ascending or descending order, so child supports a huge one here, right, search for or 5,400 times, but the term child support. If you’re looking you’re a lawyer and you’re trying to gain clients, is that really a term that you think will land you paying clients? That’s why it’s only you know four dollars and 24 cents a click here.
That’s why it’s low competition, it’s probably not going to generate people, it’s not at the end of that sales, funnel where people have their credit card out and they’re. Looking for that term and trying to hire your services lawyer 590 times a month attorney 480, so it just gives you an idea. You know what people are typing in in your business. So let’s change this to painting your painting business.
So now I wasn’t too accurate here. I guess abstract art, acrylic paint, paintings spray paint, probably not the best one, how about how about lawn care and we type in lawn care. You can see landscaping, lawn service, landscaping, ideas if you look at these high ones. Those are the ones. No, that’s not a good example lawn mowers, not something if you’re a landscaping company you’re not wanting to put in the term lawn more on your website.
People are not looking for landscaping services when they’re typing in lawn mower. They would be looking for lawn service. I mean that they’re. Looking for your for your services again here, you can see that’s a seven dollar and twenty two cent click lawn care services, Wow almost twelve dollars, that’s showing again, it’s not searched a whole lot. Seventy times a month, these are just general guidelines by the way they’re, not exact dead-on, so one maintenance, 7oa, so yeah lawn lawn care can be an expensive category as well, just showing you basically in the city of Atlanta.
How competitive is now that can change from city to city depending again on supply and demand? How many people are competing for those keywords, so that’s the Google Keyword planner tool and again, that is just looking for giving you keyword, ideas to use on your website. So what exactly do you do with those keywords, once you have a list of popular keywords? That’s great your your a lawn care service here or landscaper, and you say, yeah okay, lawn service looks like a you know, really good one that I need on my website.
People are in the you know, looking for those services lawn care services just start writing all those key ones down that you think people would be typing in lawn. Maintenance is another good one yeah. I know it’s only search fifty times, but those are the people at the end of the sales funnel looking for your services write all those down and what do you do with them? Well, let’s have a look, let’s type in Orlando family-law whoops, and I really can’t spell here: can I so Orlando family law and let’s see what comes up so you’ll notice in this in the results? Look at this one, two, three four ads at the top.
This map thingy, which will go in more detail in module four, if you want to figure out how to get your business on the map here, you look, you’ll see different attorneys and you know on these little red dots here that are listed. The large dots are these ones that are the top three here I’ll show. You we’ll discuss that as well how to get your business on the map, so we go down. Ok, now we’re into the actual organic as they call them or organic.
Is you know, unpaid for we’re not paying for ads? These are the firms that are ranking at the top for the term family law. So what? Let’s figure out? Why are they ranking for the term family law, so I’ll click on the number one result? Let’s have a look at their website, okay, so this one he has the word family and the title up here again family. Here, it’s quite prevalent right at the very top. One of the first things you can click on is family law he’s ranking for the term.
He I should say he or she, or this firm is ranking for the term family law. I mean kudos to the web designer, whoever designed this website they ranked first in a large city for a very competitive term, and – and these are you know again right here – the term family law. So those search bots that I was talking about earlier – they go through. They crawl this site; they they see the term family law.
Okay, this this page must be about family law. Now I want to give you one caveat here: one warning: do not go and stuff your web page with the term family law. If you’re a lawyer, saying okay tom says, I need to you, know, put this keyword in here a bunch of times and then I’ll rank for it. That’s no! No, please do not do that, make it as natural as possible right, you’re content with natural flow and include that keyword.
You know two or three times, maybe in a clickable link, if that’s an important term, that you’re actually trying to rank for and that’s it do not overdo it. If you overdo it, you’re going to get yourself a penalty, the again the search engines are brilliantly smart. They’re there they will pick that up, they will say okay, this particular page has you know 300 words and the keyword has been used seven times.
That’s. You know obviously way too much they’re trying to game the system, and we will assess a penalty to this webpage. Just letting you know you know there are rules against it, so don’t get yourself a penalty just make it look. Naturally you know I would be you know with this many words. Three four: the most times I would use family law, but I think they’ve gotten away with maybe five times here.
So let’s go back again. This is you know. What do you do with these keywords? Look at that, so they ranked number one and two in a large city kudos to them. Excellent. Let’s have a look at this one. So again, the term is family law, their websites taking a little long to load but they’ve ranked fairly well in a large city. Here we go family law right at the top, so good for you, Donna, okay, again family law at the top here in a drop-down menu, family and right, family law here and family law and again another that’s just their menu family.
A lot at the bottom, just showing you what keywords do and why certain websites get ranked for certain terms of certain keywords, because they actually use it in their content wisely. They don’t overuse it they and it and again, like I say, there’s 200 different variables that go into deciding why a web shuts website should rank highly, and this particular website is not only using the keywords, but it’s an attractive website.
It’s it’s. It probably has great metrics from Google there they’re picking up that people are spending. You know a fair amount of time on the website they’re clicking through, and those send signals back to Google that that website is valuable for people looking for the term family law. So they rank it high every every new website. I find if you come up with a new website. It’s going to be you know, given a chance, Google says: ok, yeah your new.
If, if you submit it, you have to submit it first of all, ok and I’ll I’ll show you how to submit it later. That’s that comes in in later how you can, in module 3, how you can submit your website in order for Google to actually yeah crawl. It say: hey, Google, I’m over here, come check. My website out it’ll, give your website a shot and you’ll notice early on all of a sudden, maybe not necessarily the first week, the second week or even the first month.
Your website will appear, but then all of a sudden, it will be there up near the top for certain keywords and it will grade your website. Basically, it’s giving you a shot, saying: ok, you’re new, let’s see how you make out and people will have an opportunity. There’ll be a few people, just you know, showing in the search results. Oh there’s there’s your website, they’ll click on it and and it’s basically a rating.
You know how long did they spend on that website? Did they like bounce right back to they say uh? This isn’t a very good website, or it’s taking too long to load. Forget it, I’m hitting the back button button and checking out the next search results. If they’re spending lots of time on your website, that’s good for you! Google will give you some more time to evaluate your site and see if it deserves to be on the first page or you know in the top near the top of the rankings.
That’s just my experience, my gut feeling. That’s that’s from my experience. What actually happens? Okay, so we we know about keywords. We know how to find keywords: I’ve, given you an idea how you should use them in your site. Now, let’s say you have, you know four different main services, let’s say you’re a landscaping company and you want to rank for the term lawn care. You want to rank for the term snow removal.
You want to rank for the term landscaping. The those are all different keywords, so should you have one page with all those different keywords on it and then it gets kind of confusing. I find, if you focus you know to like snow removal, for example, would have its own page, and you would talk about some. Your snow removal services and your value to the customer and your snow removal quote form there and, and that would be the most effective way for Google to say.
Okay, this page is about snow removal and that’s in the search results we’re going to serve that up. For people looking for the term snow removal, surfaces of snow plowing, you get the point, but if it has snow removal, landscaping lawn care all on the same site. Google says okay yeah. It has snow removal on there. But it’s got these other things and it’s probably going to waste. You know the visitors time and they’re they’re not going to spend as much time on it necessarily so we’re not going to rank it as high.
That’s again, that’s my personal experience, try and focus if you have different services and within your business, dedicate a page to each that’s my my personal tip when you’re when you’re making your website so anyways moving on I’ve shown you what you can do with these keywords. Again, these keywords also come into play when you’re doing any pay-per-click advertising very important, that you have those keywords within your content.
If you’re trying to market your business in these ads up here, okay, so family law, firm family law, family law, those are right in the title – the term family law and this this ad. Here, I’m just going to guess: I’m just trying to see if the term family law is in it, I’m going to guess that this particular ad they’re playing a lot more just because they don’t actually have the term family law in it.
When we did the search for family law, so these three ads do and – and that’s important I’ll, show you and I’ll cover that in module 3. Why you want to include those keywords in your content and also in your ads, so moving on I’ll show you another tool. Uber suggests: okay, uber suggests dot, IO ubersuggest dot, IO, just a quick. You know tidbit here, dot IO. I said what what say. Oh, you know you usually have dot-com dot CA.
That’s Indian Ocean anyways. Just for those that want to know so uber suggests is a is a keyword idea, generating tool. So, let’s type in the term lawn care, and then we just simply you can select. You know on the web or what is this for we’ll leave it on the web. Yeah English select your language click on suggest, and it’s going to come up with a bunch of keyword, ideas for us, okay, so a long Caroline care service, lawn care tips, lawn care near me.
Lawn care companies, ok lawn care business. These are not necessarily keywords that you would find on the Google Keyword planner tool, and it just gives you some more ideas when generating keywords. Okay, my final tool that I want to explain to you a process that I to use that’s often very effective, is the good old-fashioned, noggin right, so try and use you know, put all your marketing cap and think put yourself in your customers, shoes.
You know your business best and try to imagine what kind of key terms would your customers be typing into the search bar in order to search for your business, your services, your product. So, let’s you know, you grab a pen, you grab a piece of paper and you you just start coming up with those a list of those key terms. Now keep in mind. Every excellent marketer will be using those tools that I just showed you and they’ll have access to those same words and phrases key words that you are also competing for.
So I like to be I like to try me unique, try to be different, separate yourself and come up with unique phrases. Sometimes they flop sometimes they’re that golden nugget that sets you apart. So lets. You know, okay, let’s, let’s pretend I’m going to pretend. I don’t know landscaping company and I’m just going to put on my marketing hat close my eyes and just start thinking of what I would type in if I was looking for some kind of services by a landscaping company.
So it goes lawncare’ lawn care, lens cake and company. No, no, keep in mind when you’re typing these in in your own city. The results that come up luckily search engines are smart enough to did sector okay, this person’s looking for a service, something that’s offered locally. So you’re not going to get results for if you’re living in New York you’re not going to get results for a Boston landscaping company on the first page, you’re going to get local results around wherever you are so ok, let’s continue on one care quotes.
Somebody looking for you know, they’re deep in the sales funnel they’re looking for they’ve got their credit card out, they’re looking for services right away, just start, making a list write those down and try implementing those and putting some of those into the keyword planner tool, see If they come up see what kind of volume they have and if you want to implement those put, those on your website give them a try.
